SWF Maybe?
Happens to me all the time, Since I passed rank 11 I'm playing against red ranks constantly and probably one person with the same rank as me. Makes it hard for killers to rank up and learn when they're matched with SWF Red ranks.

It's the woooooorst. I really really hate being matched with red ranks, honestly. Sometimes they're not too bad, and at the end of the game I'm like, 'ah yeah that explains that.' But most of the time they're just kind of ######### that are running around teabagging after pallets and making the game generally unenjoyable. Like, cool, glad I'm wasting my time on this.

@CookieBaws yes in this event killers have a second objective and is way harder than survivors

I don't mind 2nd objective for killer, but when killer's objective collides with Survivor's it gets SOOOO WRONG.

Right, yeah. As a killer, I also don't want my second objective to collide with survivors, because there's 4 survivors to take all the lamps as soon as I hook someone.

BTW killer only gets 3pts for breaking those lanterns.

Sure, we can agree that pushing an update that causes progression loss is never acceptable (especially during a temporary event), but this was about blaming the QA team for something they couldn't have tested for.

Mmm, see. The thing is that I'm not buying that excuse. 'An update to the back-end services' is something that QA can, in fact, test for. I test updates to backend services on staging environments all of the time in my own work. What should be done is that the update is first done on a test build so that QA can do regression testing. If they're not doing updates, even backend updates, on test builds and letting QA at them first, then their development process is broken and needs to be reexamined so that they don't keep breaking the game.

• @Lagoni said:
I think their point is, that the backend service update wasn't pushed on the QA testbuild, as it probably didn't have much to do with the event update.

As someone who is a professional in tech/QA--I'm really confused as to why they think a back-end service update is an excuse? All updates should always be tested before going live, even if they aren't expected to be customer-facing.

Maybe they're right and it's not QA's fault--but in that case, it's an overall team issue and it sounds like there's a massive hole in their process that they need to examine and fix.

I mainly play survivor but the queue time is much longer than usual. Got into 3~4 lobbies, each queue time is about 5 minutes (normal queue time for me is at most 1 minute before the event), with 300~600 ping.

I got no choice but to switch it up and play killer. I rarely play killer so my killer sir at R17, get an instant lobby paired with 3 R15 and 1 R20. Got totally destroyed by that team of good loopers with flashlight adrenaline decisive. Refuse to leave when the door open and run me around the jungle gym in front of the door for another few minutes. Until they feel satisfy enough running me around then flashlight clicks all the way to the exit. I know I just have to git gud though, what else I can do?

Yeah, I think I will take a break and play some other game for awhile.

This is what a bunch of my matches were like, too--though I don't engage in chases with good loopers, I break & find the survivors that aren't as good at running, especially since toolboxes are big right now.

Also, I hate the event, the mechanics are stupid & playing killer is unrewarding.

• I love the lights. I saw someone on Haddonfield out on the roof because of the lantern effect.

Q&A meaning Quality and Assurance.
Not question and answer.
People that test the game before putting a patch into production.

Actually it's QA, not Q&A. Quality Assurance & bug reporting is actually my IRL job. And I have to say, their QA team is slacking, hahahah. If I let nearly as many problems slide by at work as their team seems to, I would be out of a job.

• @Broosmeister said:
Because it is fun to play against survivors who stand almost no chance and mostly just give up?

No? I think you read my post wrong.

• @Broosmeister said:
So in that case, it's not up to the survivors to make it fun for the killer. So let's all D/C because we only live for ourselves and nobody else 👌🏼

Well, you're mostly hurting other survivors when you d/c, not the killer.

Also, my input:

I get one or two disconnects every match without fail, for sure. It isn't rare to get three.

• Playing killer is a lot less stressful for me, tbh. Survivor is super high stress for me and I used to love the adrenaline rush but now I'm not very interested in it.

• I like Legion, it's why I decided to get back into the game after about 8 months of not playing & switched from survivor to killer. Legion's the first killer I ever played for more than one round.

I play Spirit more now because she's easier and survivors make more mistakes against her, but I'm excited to see what they come up with next.

• Hahaha., Huntress/Jake.

Apparently I have a type, though I really am not a big nature fan.

• What we REALLY need is a match timer.

• OH MY GOD, I HATE THAT. Something that happened to me yesterday:

I was playing a pig and one person disconnected, I put the other two on hooks and the last one left was Claudette, slowly crouching around and I only had one perk and could NOT find her. I finally messaged the guy, and he replied with,

'I'm waiting for you to d/c.'

I was like, are you ######### serious right now. But he was, he was waiting for me to d/c because he had a purple flashlight and didn't want to lose it. Like, what the hell? I reported him, obviously, but I'm sure it'll go ignored.

• This is beautiful.

WHAT. All the digital copies I was looking at says that it's not available until the 29th!

I saw that it popped up as installed but with a 24 hour lock on it, so I guess I can't play until tomorrow...

PS4.

USHSGHGAJHJ. How frustrating! I need to buy it when my paycheck comes, or I'm gonna lose my mind hearing about everyone else playing it tomorrow.

#########? Thats really weird. I've never seen that.

RIGHT? ME EITHER. I was baffled as to how he was doing it, but he was somehow doing it. Like my screen was just that stupid blinded screen over and over again for a while even though I kept trying to gtfaway from this dude.

• WHAT. All the digital copies I was looking at says that it's not available until the 29th!

I appreciate the benefits from farming, but I hope it does become banable because simply because I'm playing the game to play, and when a killer does this it takes away from the experience. I figure people shouldn't join a match and then walk away, just don't start a game if you can't sit and engage with the other players.

I have never walked away from a game in the middle of it, and I find it kind of rude for people to do that while doing something multiplayer. I hope you get a few times of doing it because of emergencies, accidents, etc. But I hope in the end a player showing a trend of doing it gets removed to improve the gameplay experience.

Why not just finish gens, take your points, and move onto the next match? It's not really a big deal. It's like 3 minutes out of your day.

• It says the names of people/characters on the match details list (under options or whatever). Should still be accessible on the ending screen.

• @NekoGamerX said:
guess I'm the odd one here I turn message off on ps4 because I got sick of them.

I keep them on because I don't get a lot, and I like seeing nice messages from people; but that's fair.

• I got the best hate mail today!

A SWF team with 4 tier 3 meta perks messaged me to say, 'get some skill' after I killed 3/4 of them with no add-ons, 1 tier 1 perk Pig.

• I legit hate flashlights. I didn't care until I ran into this David King that did this bullshit thing where he like... Flashed me while I was breaking a pallet, and then flashed me again immediately after my first flash wore off, and then I turned to get away from it, and he followed my turn and flashed me again? I ended up disconnecting because he just kept doing it & I couldn't get away from him.

• I got my first piece of hatemail the other day on PS4! It was just a message that said 'pussy.'

I did not respond. It was because I disconnected as killer because I was bored & frustrated playing against a super immersive team of Claudettes. Like, ¯_(ツ)_/¯ sorry that it was boring to walk around playing against invisible survivors urban invasioning their way across the map, especially after a string of bad matches.

• I was wondering about this, because I keep jump-scaring people as Spirit & I thought she had sounds that warned people where she was.

• @Proxi said:
why does this threat only have 9 comments now? I remember myself having a discussion with some other members last night... Do mods delete comments? And if yes why?

I was wondering that too.

Besides new game modes I want more things in the map to interact with, doors, traps, hidden passages. The maps are all about hiding and running but no exploration or secrets, no traps for the Killer or traps for the Survivors like a gas room to slow them down or bridges that extend or retrack etc.

This would be wonderful, honestly. I don't understand why we don't already have things like this? Because every other game similar to DBD does.

• More objectives. It gets boring and repetitious as both survivor and killer with the current lack of interesting objectives.

• @Proxi said:
you are right about this, but can't you understand people who spend hours over hours to play this game like crazy to earn their skins and then a guy with a good job just comes 3 weeks later and buys all the skins (worth probably 1 hour of his work time) without having touched the game at all? Seems a little unrewarding for those who played right?

Yeah, IDK. I guess I just don't see the argument for getting rewarded for playing the game that you want to play? Like cool that there's an incentive, that's great that there's the ability to get some cool stuff for free, but I don't really see the point in wanting it to be a huge grind from a player perspective & not something you can just buy.

Also RE this argument:
nobody said they should be exclusive.. just only available throughout the event (you can buy them for real money).. If some caring daddy with 3 kids and an 40hour+ job can't log into the game once for 2 full weeks I ask myself the question: Why do you even play this game? AND Why do you even care about skins?
Because skins are fun--and the game is fun to play. It is, however, extremely time consuming and repetitious. Also, I'm definitely not some caring daddy with 3 kids and a 40+hr job, I personally have a job in the tech field, I'm an artist (hence why aesthetics are something I'm very into), and I have friends and other hobbies--I also have to take months long breaks from DBD or else the community gets under my skin and negatively impacts my mood. So, it's nice to be able to come back and find out what I missed during those breaks & to be able to pay for the cool stuff I missed, like new DLC and fun skins.

I definitely bought some of the Halloween event skins; Halloween is the only holiday I actually like!

• @Speshul_Kitten said:
Who said they have to look cool? Exclusives are exclusives regardless of their appeal. If you like paying for stuff that’s fine but I’d rather earn mine.

You might be putting too much of an emphasis on bragging rights/earning things. IDK. I buy skins, I bought an event skin for an event I missed because I was taking a break from DBD--and I earned my skin. I earned it by having a job and disposable income, hahaha (which also means that I couldn't grind my way through getting a fancy event skin through the event, so).

• It depends on how the other survivors are treating me, If I'm getting tea-bagged all match by a 3 stack of SWF and their 4th player turns against their team, I'm going to go along with it.

If they're just normal survivors who have done nothing wrong, I'll kill the scummy one turning against their team.

The realization that I'll be 30 this year have me a bit downed.

Welcome to the yr 30 club! We're all tired and not sure why our backs hurt.

My update:

My job might be finally giving me more hours! Great news. It's hard to live off of 20hrs a week! I get paid a lot per hour, but more work is always better. Plus, it'll take me away from playing DBD as much as I have been lately, which is probably for the best.

• @HellDescent said:
You can, just go to settings and you'll see sensitivity for killer and survivor. Killers are taller then survivors that's why it's harder to see them when you are right next to them, so looking a bit down might help.

OH MAN THANK YOU. I could never find that before!

Also, that's a good point, is that still true on Legion/the Spirit? Because those are the ones who I play the most.

• @HellDescent said:
The framerate is crap, that's the main issue. Try cranking you sensitivity

Can you change sensitivity as killer on console? I don't think you can. I have the same issue as the OP on PS4-people just get directly in my face and I can't do ######### about it because they vanish off my screen and dip my framerate. I've started taking a guess on which way they're turning by turning with them before I hit, but usually they're too close to actually hit and then they disappear.

• Red Dead 2, though I cry every time I play it, I need to stop doing this to myself. I just walk around my house crying about it.

I also just bought a PSVR headset and a bunch of games to go with it, like Resident Evil & The Inpatient & Accounting+ and Borderlands 2 VR. But all the games but Accounting+ give me motion sickness, so I can only play for a while.

& Overwatch, of course. I alternate between loving OW and hating DBD and hating DBD but playing it instead of OW because I'm tired of OW.

• I started going up to like rank 10 killer, & I've only been playing killer for like a week after work (my work days end at 7, so I have like... 3 hours a day to play?) , and after that I started to do the same thing as you; purposely depipping, because there's just no point in playing against people who are mostly really high ranks who have thousands of hours in the game, hahah.

Like, #1, it's not fun, and #2, they have all the meta perks when I have like... a level 20 spirit and a level 20 Legion, with all of their base kit perks + random ######### I won't use like NOED.

It's like you said, I have a job, I work all day at a computer, I don't want to be stressed out when I'm playing--and I also even at like rank 16 where I'm at now, only get like 2/4 kills anyway. Even when I'm doing well, I'm a bleeding heart killer & if I down someone at the exit gate, I'll drop them closer to it, or sometimes if I keep downing the same person, I'll pick them up and drop them somewhere for their team to come heal them.

It's just funner that way, I guess. It's more fun chasing some people around and whacking them or giving them jumpscares and letting them get away, than it is to get teabagged and treated like garbage by people who have thousands of hours in the game & take it Very Seriously.

• I have the burial kimono skin for the spirit and her sleeves are always whipping around and they look like survivors in the corner of my eye; I bought it though, for the hair improvement and because I didn't love that she was running around mostly naked (not a prude, I just thought she could have cuter clothes).

But I don't love this new outfit? The hair seems useful, but the outfit itself is kind of a weird gimmicky anime thing &. I don't love the idea that yet another Japanese woman is thrown into a school girl outfit, but I guess they have school girl outfits for ALL the female survivors, so it's not really a targeted thing. But still.

What I'm saying is that we need shirtless Dwight next.

• Killer lobbies on PS4 are instant. & reading this thread has made me feel somehow really satisfied about dodging obvious SWF. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

• I was wondering ######### happened earlier. I ran into a SWF team with toolboxes and the new changed perks that finished two generators before I could even walk to a second gen, and I was just like... Are you kidding me?

• Yeah this new patch is pretty bad. Do they not have a QA team at all looking at their game for bugs/general quality? Because like... they should?

• They don't like having to change their playstyles or that he causes problems for SWF teams (no working on gens together, bodyblocking doesn't work, discourages grouping up).

• I really like both Spirit and Legion, I was having a hard time deciding, but I went Spirit for the jump scares.

• @Beverly said:
I don't find the Legion to be boring or unfun. Honestly, I have a bigger problem with the people that play them. Most people I see playing them swing their weapon constantly to catch up quicker and will swing their weapon while carrying you to utilize Mad Grit. It feels really sweaty to me, but idk. Other than that, I'm not sure why they've gotten as much hate as they have.

Mad Grit only works if the weapon is actually connecting with another survivor, otherwise they're just wasting their time.

Also, I play Legion a lot, and people who disconnect against him are mostly SWF who think they can't control the match. I get more d/cs as the doctor than I do as Legion, though.

• I really enjoy Legion's Joey outfit, it's so ridiculously teen-y. I looked at it like, 'oh I just accidentally cut myself on that ~edge~' and then had to have it.

I also really like the Dr.'s hallowed blight outfit, it's very cool.

• I don't disconnect, if I'm losing, I just accept that I'm losing. Playing killer is like the least stressful thing for me, I don't care--I just stroll around looking for people to bop. I lose a lot, especially because I'm not a good killer, so WHATEV.

As a survivor, I have disconnected once. It was against the doctor and I was just tired as hell of running into doctors.

• Kill everyone but them. The flashlight warrior is too busy trying to flashlight you/distract you to be doing gens, it's everyone else that's the threat.

He barely gets more than 1 sacrifice and is still pipping, you're making a whole antagonizing statement trying to prove a point that doesn't exist, calm down. Last I checked, 1 sacrifice isn't gg for the killer point and skill wise.

Oh yeah.. cause they must 4K for it to be a GG... You do know you can white pip without even killing anyone?.... They never removed that.

If you are pipping up against the other side you can't be doing that bad. The ranking system is harder then it was... Harder then the 10K you used to have to get.... Or the killer cube of 2 kills... So how hard do players want to make it?.. so there is only 5 people in the top ranks so no one gets games in higher rank play anymore?

Geez... I would rather the op have said... I can't get even a black pip since I haven't played in a few months... Not how easy it is to rank up then complain they aren't playing against people their own skill level.

The idea of not doing well even though you barely get a sacrifice but still pipping (even a black pip) is beyond me.

ANYWAYS......

Let me clarify: it isn't just that I get roughly one sacrifice per match, it's that I'm bad enough at killer that probably 8/10 of my swings don't even hit the person that I'm swinging at--they can be like a foot in front of me and I can't hit them to save my life. A survivor has to truly belong between rank 18 - rank 20 for me to actually catch them.

Yet I keep ranking up as killer and most of my matches keep putting me with survivors that are even higher than my already too high rank. I have less than10 hours as killer and I just learned how to lunge attack, which I couldn't figure out before, even in the tutorial.

So yeah, I'm not good enough to keep going up ranks--it isn't some kind of humble brag. I'm literally struggling with the basic mechanics of the game, but I still keep ranking up.

• Camping sucks--but tunneling? I'm not sure that's a thing, unless it's one killer that follows you through your games. I think it's more likely that someone that has been hooked once or twice is just a weaker link, and so the killer is more likely to chase them given the option.

• I've been learning how to play killer and so that's been ridiculous. It's a lot less stressful (for me, YMMV) to play killer, as I've found out, bu I will say it's annoying and weird to constantly get teabagged by survivors. I had always assumed killer mains were exaggerating, but holy hell, it's every match.

Like, I'm not that good, you're not that good, why are you doing this?

Also LEAVE when the doors open, you idiots. Stop making me chase you out, it's not worth the effort.
