  • I got randomly DC-ed today too at the start of the match while playing Legion, I assumed it was just that my internet was crap.

  • I'm so confused about this clip, why did someone drop the n-bomb in the audio? Was that them? Is this their clip? Because that's messed up and immature of them and I can't imagine thinking it's a good idea to post a clip where one of my friends drops the n-word, like, #########. How do they talk when the cameras aren't rolling?

I do the same thing. Try to make sure everyone gets the event gens/hooks. I bought the game at the end of December, and have 32 days in it.. So I am averaging 3.3 hours a day in it and this even is the first time I have wanted to put the game down and just walk away.

Devs you have to do something. These events are supposed to be fun, yet I think it is driving more people away than it is bringing in.

Edit: added a space between 2 words

Yeah, it really is. It's a bummer, honestly. I stopped playing the event after the first day because it reminded me why I hate the game lately. So. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Back to casual games of Overwatch.

  • Yeah, okay. Sure.

I installed the game again to play in the event as a survivor and I sacrificed myself to killers by literally stopping under a BBQ hook and pointing at it for them, and they repaid me by patrolling event gens, using overcharge on them, using ruin, and being all around ######### even after my sacrifice.

So cool whatever, I guess it's another situation where killers are just sweet innocent players being griefed & never do anything scummy.

  • Why do we all care about what a youtuber thinks?

  • @Raccoon said:
Except that it punishes killers that leave the hook by allowing survivors to sprint away to a free heal in the opposite direction.

Killers will definitely adapt, by hard camping.

    We'll all be winners, fam.

9/10 killers already do that, so I guess that changes nothing?

Besides, this isn't going to impact the killers who are already away from the hook & you know it. It's going to impact the killers who stand near it.

  • @Runiver said:
As soon as you're fine with the game, it's good.
Here's my advice, on the long run :
Just consider every single survivor as an offender. If they don't do it, it's mostly because they do not have the skill level just yet to feel confident to do it.

Basically, they're just cattle and you have no reasons to go easy on them if you don't feel like it, because even if you do, it will very likely go unnoticed and you'll get insulted/flamed whatever happens.
Just rekt them if you can, lose if you cannot, and throw a "gg wp" in the endgame chat and leave the lobby without trying to discuss. It will save you a lot of time, and brain cells.

Well, that's not a very healthy way to look at things.

@ OP, as long as you had fun! It's a video game! Fun is what matters.

  • I use a VPN at work and it occasionally has major issues with loading times on basics websites as VPNs do.

VPN is probably not going to get you the results you're looking for.

  • It would match those leaked cosmetics that were around somewhere a few weeks ago.

I checked all the "negative" answers to your thread and there was nothing discriminating as you describe it. People just mentioned that there are toxic people commenting on the killer forum.

No one trolled you. No one told you to git gud.
So what the hell are you talking about?

You can post freely on this forum and express your opinion. But don't try to put words in other people's mouths and then play the victim.

What are you playing to fill the void of DBD?

I've been playing Overwatch, Fallout 4, No Man's Sky, and Observer. I'm a little behind in games because I was in an arts program in college for 5 years and didn't have time for anything.

I play Overwatch on casual quickplay mode and absolutely not ever ranked/competitive and half the time I play against AI, so for me, it's been a nice break from the drama of 'KILLER/SURVIVOR BUFFS AND NERFS!' Like, this thread is stressing me the ######### out & I hate it.

That's worse than I thought it was, but I'm actually not surprised by that number. I know I uninstalled the game because after repeated nerfs & the tinkerer bug, I was frustrated and wanted to clear space on my HDD to play a new game. I haven't played it since shortly after the new patch came out.

I just check in here because I like to follow news on the game to see if they're improving it, which it seems like they are at least a bit, so.

So... are you saying you uninstalled the game after some minor nerfs that don´t affect most of the people?
    Have you considered playing killer?

I uninstalled the game because the tinkerer bug on top of recent changes & the rank changes ######### up matchmaking, made the game unfun & I have a partitioned drive with only about 100gb available, though I have around 450 games. DBD used to be a game I played a lot, but because of the changes I mentioned, I found a different game to play in the space that it was using.

I don't like killer, the POV combined with how fast killer moves gives me motion sickness.

I also uninstalled the game to make room for Overwatch, so.

  • Hey, welcome to life. Once I'm below rank 11, I stop having fun too, & I get tired of all killers playing the same BBQ & Chili, Nurse's Calling, Ruin on a hillbilly, LF, or a nurse loadout.

I don’t even play SWF often and when I do it’s just 2 of us and we don’t use coms, though it’s irrelevant because, these Leatherfaces think everyone is in coms and everyone is SWF.

They day they want a way to easy ID them but then seem to be able to ID them already so not sure what they want at all

They want people with friends to have to suffer for their arrogance, mainly.

  • No?

I play SWF with my best friend, it's the reason why I play the game. When we took a break from DbD, I played Fallout 4 with my microphone on, and she played Tomb Raider. Being able to talk to someone is the fun part of playing SWF vs solo.

Do you... just not have any friends to make this a relatable concept for you?

  • @TheXenoborg said:

    Back to the thread:

All of the suggestions in this thread are pretty bad, and they'd probably kill the game, as no one would have fun playing with their friends anymore--which is the biggest appeal of the game for most of the playerbase. Not sure what a good solution would look like, though, as I haven't seen one yet.

    CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK.

Dwights with anything pizza related on them are going to be ridiculous.

Megs in the travelers' fog fortune teller outfit are usually a mess.

Kates in the default outfit only have one or two perks.

Dwights with sunglasses are going to die IMMEDIATELY.

I have Prove Thyself, Leader, Bond, We'll make it with pizza hoodie am i ridiculous yet?

    Yes. By default, yes.

This comes from a person who mains Dwight with the pizza hoodie.

  • @IronWolf115 said:
Yeah I understand your frustrations so don't worry i'm not arguing with you there. And yes as a Leatherface main myself you move incredibly slow during your tantrum stage. The issue with LF is that as I say he has no map pressure and maybe the case is more that his trade-off for that just doesnt feel enough. If they gave him something to help his overall speed to apply pressure then maybe chainsaw buffs wouldn't be as necessary but just right now he is not in a good place.

Hmm, yeah, I see what you mean. We're not really disagreeing, so much as we're focusing on different aspects. I get the map pressure issue, it's just the thoughts of even worse chases running through my head that's distracting me. I'm not really sure how anyone would balance the two fairly, I suppose. I did look at your linked thread, but I didn't love it.

  • @IronWolf115 said:
He actually can barely move during his tantrum ( when he bumps ) whereas hillbilly has a much quicker recovery and tbh the range of his chainsaw sounds like latency issues. You have to remember Leatherface is one of the worst killers in the game for map pressure so his payoff needs to be a powerful close range game

It could be latency issues, you're right, but it happens to me every time I go against a LF and I sincerely hate it. I guess it's probably like the windows where you're like a foot through them & suddenly you're grabbed by the killer and its like, 'wow BS.'

Anyway, it just sucks because it's a massively wide area even without latency issues & the chainsaw attack lasts so long that it's hard to get away from it sometimes, if that makes sense? Like, it seems like a fair trade off, because he's slower than the hillbilly but his attack range is so wide and goes on forever and you can only run forward instead of juking and it still will usually somehow get you. & are you sure that's true about the recovery time? Because usually when he attacks his chainsaw just keeps going even when he smacks into something. Idk, I have him, I should probably try it sometime and see.

Also this is picky and doesn't actually contribute to the discussion, but canonically he was kind of dumb and clunky with his chainsaw, so that might be actually be a factor in his character design.

  • @IronWolf115 said:
Well to be honest that simply isn't enough to make leatherface viable. His chainsaw is extremely slow and clunky compared to HillBilly's and his ability to hit multiple survivors only becomes a factor when he is camping, which is what I am trying to steer away from

You say, 'slow and clunky', but from a survivor POV, I'd rather go against the hillbilly than LF, because LF's chainsaw just pings right off of objects and he keeps going, and there's no ability to double back on yourself as a dodge, and for some reason whenever I play against an LF he'll be like ten feet away from me but his chainsaw attack is still wildly slashing enough area to somehow find my hitbox.

More speed on top of that would really suck to play with. and not in a challenging way.

  • @Kuris said:
You're right, it also doesn't take into account that they could have DS. Or that they could get flashlight saved. Oh, and they ONLY used 3 pallets. And didn't use the killer shack pallet because they messed up in my scenario. what if they didn't?

Oh, and yes, at high ranks, survivors will follow that formula, and they will be less likely to creep away from a Gen when they can clearly see the killer is occupied.

ALSO, I did forget it can take less than 80 seconds, maybe one has a brown toolbox with addons, marginally faster. Maybe another hits all great skill checks, thats even faster.

I 100% guarantee you, anything I missed on the survivors side of things, can be made up for again.

Hahah, okay. Not even going to bother trying to have this conversation with you, as you're obviously set on your opinion and nothing is going to make you reconsider.

  • @Kuris said:
We know it takes, at max, 80 seconds to do a gen (excluding thanataphobia). Lets assume you find 1 survivor in 10 seconds. Other survivors have found gens that spawned close to them

There are now 75 seconds left on 3 gens. You run through 3 pallets, you are looped the three times and then swing, not respecting, and are stunned. You've wasted 20 seconds looping, you are stunned for 2.1 seconds (without enduring) You break the pallet, taking an additional 1.8 (with Brutal Strength III).

There are now 3 gens, on or about 50 seconds.

Second pallet, repeat the same process.

There are now 3 gens, on or about 25 seconds.

Finally, you are ran around the killer shack for 10 seconds. They do not drop the pallet, they mess the loop and you down them in an optimistic 10 seconds. You have a 2 second pickup animation after the over 1 second cooldown from hitting.

13 seconds left on 3 gens.

Luckily, the killer shack has the basement, you walk down in 5 seconds, you hook over a period of 2 seconds, and walk back up in another five. You leave the killer shack, 3 gens are completed or about to be.

This doesn't A LOT of factors of the game, though. Like travel distance between starting point & generator, time spent creeping away from gens when the killer comes too close, time spent trying to organize your team without (and sometimes with, even) communication. It also boils a chase down to just numbers, which isn't an exact science.

Basically you're running numbers and ONLY numbers, and forgetting that survivors are people and not machines who are very, very rarely, going to follow this formula.

Are you playing SWF? Rank 11 solo you shouldn't be having issues, I don't know Xbox but I don't get many issues when I solo around that Rank

Sometimes I SWF with one person, but it happens when I'm solo too. & I'm PC. It's whack. I don't even use Claudette, I use Dwight in an argyle sweater or the pizza hoodie like 90% of the time. I checked my internet speed & ping too, because it happened so much that I was getting really paranoid about what I was doing wrong on my end. But it became sort of obvious when I decided to play Quintin for a while instead: cosmetics = dodge, toolbox = dodge, cosmetics & toolbox = super dodge.

Well, I get dodged just for having cosmetics or bringing an item to a match to a point where it's so bad that I don't bring things to the match while using cosmetics, so... Some people dodge because they're looking for exclusively easy matches instead of just playing the game. I've seen a lot of people on forums openly admit to doing exactly that, too. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Ah, but why are they avoiding this challenge?

I'll fill it in - the high-end game for the killer is pretty vicious. You need an abnormally thick skin to deal with co-ordinated survivors. Most people don't have that.

so perhaps the question we should be asking instead of punishing people for avoiding this... what can we do to make it less frustrating but keep the challenge?

Well, I mean. I'm not coordinated & I'm only rank 11. I just literally get dodged a ton for having a character wearing a sweater. So, I don't know. I see what you're saying, but I don't think it applies to all lobby dodgers.

  • Sure, he can get a speed buff--but only if you take away his 10 hour long chainsaw animation & his ability to hit everything around him in a wide circle while he's in it. Otherwise, not so much.

  • I occasionally get ultra confused as a survivor like, 'okay I unhooked you, let me heal you while the killer is busy--where is the prompt?? Where is the prompt?? Oh, you're running No Mither. Get out of here, David.'

  • OP & his blatant bait threads are 2edgy4 me.

  • Every time I play streamers it seems like I get the MOST tightly wound/serious business killer ever that just ends the match in like 5 seconds OR will face camp everyone they down. Which I hate, like... We're getting extra bp, what are you doing? You don't have to farm, but at least loosen up a bit.

  • Ok but literally nothing that happens in DBD is something that a person would realistically do if there was a killer chasing you.

  • So, 20% of the killers they played against could take on a highly coordinated group of players with thousands of hours in the game?

Not sure what kind of point that proves, but I don't think it's the one you're trying to make.

  • Yeah, they do get pretty salty about it. It's weird, since they just come back immediately?

Though, I will say, I did the 99% & dropping it in someone's face trick for the first time ever in a match yesterday, and the guy downed me like a fraction of a second after I did it & hooked me, which I was totally fine with. I was like, yeah, I deserved that.

I was surprised that he disconnected when I got unhooked instead of tunneling/camping me, as that seemed more logical & I would have understood it at that point. Guess he made his point either way, though.

  • I remember reading that post a while ago. Nice post, people can take some things away from it Though this is an incredibly contradictory statement & makes me doubt if the poster is actually what they said they are:

You can’t control that, or change them, so accept it as a certainty. Try not to read into why they do things - accept them for what they are – like an Evil Dwight. There are evil survivors that just want to loop: accept them as evil loopers and rationalize their gameplay style as an effective one, and rationalize over a new strategy. If the strategy fails, the strategy fails, not you.

You can't say other someone & describe them as "evil" (which is very black & white and VERY othering) and also rationalize their effective gameplay in one breath.

  • I'm not posting a screen, I'm too lazy to open the game for that.

But I'm player level 25 & rank 14. I hate it; please take my rank away. I keep going up every time I play and I don't want to anymore, but I also don't want to derank because I hate lower rank people/games even more than I hate my proper rank.

    Help me.

I already installed Civ and I hate that too.

  • @SaltyKiller said:
Tell ya' what. Since you guys are super l33t Survivor's (of course you are, you must be since you hate an end-game perk that can be countered). I'll make you a deal:

I speak on behalf of the entire Killer community and say that we willingly will give up our "crutch" perks to the entity. I.E. they are gone for good and we're not going with some honor system. We'll get rid the following: BBQ & Chili, Nurse's Calling, Bloodhound, NOED, Remember Me, Blood Warden, Devour Hope, Stridor, Whispers, and Insidious too. Why not?

We'll willingly get rid of all of these perks if we can remove some of the "crutch" perks Survivors have. Namely: Decisive Strike, Sprint Burst, Self Care, Borrowed Time, and Unbreakable.

We'll get rid of 10 perks just to remove 5 of your perks. That seems like a deal to me. Hell, if that seems like too much we'll get rid of those 10 perks plus Franklin's Demise (super cheap, crutch perk, right?) and Monitor and Abuse (skill-less Myers and Hag perk amirite?) just if we could permanently remove: Decisive Strike, Sprint Burst, and Self Care.

Twelve Killer perks versus three Survivor perks. That seems pretty fair to me. Then we'll see which side needs their crutch perks to win.

Your name is accurate as hell, but I love your stupid attempt to generalize/pigeonhole who I am as a player based on the fact that I think that the speed boost to NOED should be nerfed if survivor speed boosts & self-care are being nerfed, especially after pallets have decreased in numbers & are now buggy as hell.

I also love your #########, condescending attitude, and I hope that it wins you many friends and that everyone around you thinks that you're a delightful person and you live a long and healthy life full of love and friendship and you don't spend the rest of your life being rude and ######### to people who have different opinions on things than you do on the internet.

But sure, I'd be fine with giving up DS, SB, SC, BT, and Unbreakable if you got rid of the items on your list. :) I personally don't use DS, BT, or unbreakable & I'm a good enough player that I'd be perfectly fine without SB and SC--in fact, I occasionally swap them out for balanced landing or lithe & pharmacy.

I also don't give a ######### about Franklin's Demise (I don't use flashlights, and if I lose something I just find it later) or Monitor & Abuse. But killers across the board are going to have a cry if you get rid of their tracking perks & their end-game crutch perks, just like you're immediately jumping to be ultra on the defense about the possibility that someone might think NOED should be nerfed.

Side-Note: I'm well aware that NOED has a counter-play, it's why I run small game. I just think it's bullshit that on top of giving the killer a one-shot, it gives them a speed boost and that's okay, while survivor exhaustion perks are being nerfed.

  • NOED is definitely a garbage crutch perk--and if exhaustion perks & self-care are getting nerfed for being crutch perks, NOED should be too.

Balance has to go top down. You can't balance a game around unskilled player.
Stuff like DS is exactly that and shows the flaw. Of course 4x DS is no problem, when not even half of them can hit the skillcheck, but if every single one of them can hit the skillcheck even with UP and/or madness, this is overpowered af!

You can't balance a game around the outliers of the game either, though? You can't just balance around Rank 1 survivor/killers or other people with a thousand hours into the game and assume it'll trickle down and work for the majority of the playerbase. That's how you lose most of your playerbase.

So that i can prepare. That is why the counter measure perks exist like franklins and lightborn. If i couldn't see what the survivor were bringing in i could either A) Run light born or Franklins every game which could either be a blessing or a waste of a perk slot or B ) just risk it and not run it at all and then with my luck i would get a 4 man flashlight squad and i would be up shits creek without a paddle. The developers want the killer to have the upper hand in this regard. He is supposed to be the power role after all and having the ability to apply counter measures effectively is an important aspect.
