It's true. I know when I play killer, sometimes if I've had some bad games I bring a mori and as a survivor I got really sick of tunneling/camping killers and so I turned into what I hate--the survivor who runs around flashlight clicking.

@Almo said:
I do. I actually play it when I'm not at work.
That's nice to hear, actually. One of my friends works at Riot Games and she plays LoL even when she's not working and I think it's cool to see people have that kind of passion.
Personally I'm 50/50, sometimes I enjoy the game, and sometimes I hate it so much that I told someone that I hope their dog dies and I think I even kind of meant it in the moment (its okay.... they didn't even see it, they hadn't loaded in yet). But then again, Overwatch does that to me too.

So were in agreement that SWF is OP? Seeing as how randoms can in your words, never be as good as a swf.
No amount of git gud will make you defeat a swf who is flawless. This game is so survivor sided it isn't even funny. Survivors control the flow of the match. If they choose to rush gens, the killer can't do much about it without meta killers and powerful add ons. This game has gotten better since it's launch but it is no where near balanced and it will never be balanced so long as the devs mold it around rank 20 solos. If you want this game to really improve. You need to look past your bias opinion and see it's flaws. Of which there are many.
I literally already said that SWF is a pain in the ass--you're not reading what I'm saying at all. You're too busy pinning yourself up on your cross. SWF is a pain but solo play MUST be buffed before killers can be.

Solo players can git gud. I know it's hard to believe but it can be done. If 4 solo players are good it can "almost" be as powerful as a swf with headsets. Stop holding survivors hands and let them struggle. That's how you improve. On the killer side of things. It doesn't matter how well you improve as killer because this game is balanced around taking advantage of mistakes. Good survivors hardly make any.
Solo players are no where near the level of powerful as a SWF squad. Why don't YOU git good and stop bitching? I play killer too and agree that SWF are a pain in the ass, but solo players already constantly get wrecked by half way decent killers.

Yes, I meant Iron Will, I was thinking Borrowed Time cuz I was talking to someone else about a build I run to make a point Survivors have it easy. But it's the same argument with Doctor and Calm Spirit. Usually you don't wanna run that build, but if you're gonna get upset you didn't win against a Stridor Spirit, run the build, or if you encounter a Doctor who spams shock blast, Calm Spirit.
You can never know exactly which killer you're going to face but so many people complain about these killers even though they don't face them 24/7 might as well run fixated and iron will if you have such an issue with Spirit, because apparently everyone who's played against Spirit faces her 24/7. Or anyone who has played against doctor faces him 24/7 so run calm spirit.
'Trying to make a point that survivors have it easy', 'you survivors.' This whole topic shows that you don't know what things are like on the survivor side.
-
I'm not even a survivor main and I think it's OP. There needs to be an indication that it's active so that people in lower ranks know. If that change was made then it'd be fine.

So update on my OP, I still can't survive as the obsession. So far it's been:
Twice I died at the exit because of NOED
Once I died because of permanent tier 3 Myers--in the exit
Once I did all the gens as the last person died and couldn't get the door opened
Once I was moried at 1 gen left
Then I died on top of the hatch to a pyramid head that couldn't even hit me the entire game, but I was the last survivor alive and so it was over.
That's not even counting that I had -4- back to back matches with killers using iridescent add-ons. I'm getting kind of exhausted of this game.
I FINALLY DID ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
IT WAS AGAINST A BABY CLOWN BUT I DON'T CARE, I DID IT.
-
The PS5 is also going to be backwards compatible so it doesn't really matter.
-
Yeah, slugging for the 4k is extremely boring. I played a match like that recently against a Legion and it lasted like 40 minutes because he could never find us both at the same time and I picked up the other player every time they were downed.

To play devil's advocate, do you think you'd be having more or less fun if you had all characters at P3 50 with all perks unlocked? I don't know about you, but I think I would be having less fun.
There's definitely room to reduce the grind, but it doesn't bother me a ton as is.
It's getting teachables and perks that's the issue. Not everyone cares about being P3 50, but there's a lot of perks that are teachables that are really useful to have.
-
No, Spirit definitely needs a nerf. She's very easy to pick up and dominate with--it takes almost nothing to learn her, despite being insanely powerful.

Bell everywhere is an uncommon add on anyway.
There's 1 ultra rare per level 50 bloodweb (plus a chance in other mystery boxes) so ultra rares are still relatively common, 1 in 3 per web basically.
I don't see an issue with it. I'd rather see them balanced (iridescent heads) rather than being easy game winners that rarely show up.
Yeah, I'll take balanced instead too. It just gets frustrating as hell for every match to be against ultra rare/rare game winning add-ons & offerings. It makes the game actively unplayable.

both sides like to call the other side out for bs they dont like heck i laugh at this stuff (also would it be camping or tunneling if 2 survivors constantly hook rush each other right after i down on and reload a hatchet obly for wounded to rush a hook so i kill both?)
Both PC survivors and console survivors also play super toxic.
-
Both console and PC killers play super toxic, I don't really see a difference in them other than with console killers you can 360 them more often.

I'm gonna intentionally mistake the aggression in that for passion.
I don't think you read me properly. As I have replied before to someone else here, wasting survivors time is more important than points. If someone takes someone off the hook within seconds of me hooking them then there is now 3 people off doing their own thing and one person in a chase. If this idea doesnt go through (which it wont btw) then I would have 1 person on a hook, potentially a second person in a chase and the other two on gens with one of them possibly going for the save. Do you see what I'm saying here? Instead of having 3 people on gens, I would have 1 which is an essential aspect of this game. Map pressure is the only way a killer can win against any team with half a brain and this idea would completely remove all map pressure. So when I say "I deserved that hook" im not talking about my hook bloodpoints, I'm talking about the pressure. Camping killers is annoying, I play survivor too it really sucks, but when have you ever come across a camping killer that won? Unless you literally fed yourself to the killer then the killer wont win. Gens get done in that 2 minutes they are on the hook. At good ranks, camping never happens unless people are trying to derank and are being dicks about it so this addition would completely unbalance this game. So when you say "just because someone took them down immediately doesn't negate that you GOT the hook." you are wrong. I got the points, but that means nothing.
Sorry, but what rank killer are you? Because as someone that has been a rank 1 killer, I don't care at all about the pressure from someone being on a hook. I immediately turn away from the hook and start pressuring anyone that's trying to work on gens. When someone is taken off hook I'll loop around back and find someone to chase, but for the most part I worry about gens. If someone takes someone off in front of my face I smack the person they unhooked and leave them down--if they have BT, I don't care, because now they have to go somewhere and mend while I chase their unhooker or I circle the gens they favor the most again.
-
@Manky said:
Absolutely not. Its already frustrating when im playing killer, I hook someone after a chase and someone just comes infront of my face and farms that survivor and they have borrowed time. I deserved that hook and this is where I hear the phrase tunneling the most. If I have a strategical advantage to go the the person just off the hook, then Im gonna go for them. I deserved that hook, they are injured and the game is easier for me if there are less survivors in the game. If I were to go for them after I had found someone else and I just gave up on the chase I was in to kill the person from the hook, that would be tunneling. However, if someone saves them while im still around and not after anyone else, I know where the person from the hook is, so why would I not go after them? Im a killer, im trying to win. Its not tunneling if your the only person I find. Sorry, rant over lmao. My point is that if this was a default game mechanic then I would spend a while chasing someone down, hooking them and then a healthy survivor just unhooking them in my face. I can't do anything about it, both of them can take 2 hits, meaning I have to do another chase for my hook just for it to be done again. I know as survivor it is annoying to be farmed by a useless teammate, I play a lot of survivor aswell as killer, but from my killer point of view this idea would be incredibly unbalanced. It would make every chase very unrewarding and in the process making killer way less enjoyable. I would like to see a perk where you get borrowed time on yourself if you are unhooked so you dont have to rely on a teammate having it, but I would probably quit the game if I saw borrowed time as a default game mechanic.
What are you talking about? 'I deserved that hook' you GOT the hook. Just because someone took them down immediately doesn't negate that you GOT the hook. The optimal way to score is to have every survivor go on hook 3 times. There's no need to tunnel/camp you WANT survivors to take other survivors off hook so you can hook them again later.

PIG. She spooks me out because of her dumb little crawl up to you.
-
Dwight/Nea. Dwight because Dwight is classic, Nea because I have the graff-crafter skin and I love it, plus I love Balanced Landing.
-
I've been a red rank killer and a red rank survivor--and I get the appeal of NOED but I see it 90% of the time on people who didn't do well all match and then got a second chance at getting a kill. I ran into a match last night where a Wraith spent the entire match trying to catch people, couldn't, then got one hit with NOED at the end. He lost his survivor on hook even though he was camping it and couldn't catch anyone else, then stood cloaked in front of the exit gates waiting for people to come by. He didn't catch anyone, of course, but -that's- the kind of people who use NOED. Lol.
-
It's because BHVR has to make money somehow.
-
Agreed about the trapper strongman/wrestler outfit, it's weird and ugly. I also hate the Nea snowboarding outfit.

No challenge is impossible, just a big headache to attempt.
Sacrifice all 4 Survivors in the basement? yeah probably not going to happen unless the Survivors are just THAT Altruistic.
Stun the Killer multiple times using Pallets in a single trial is dependent on getting a Killer who doesn't have an alternative way to hit you (Nurse, Huntress, Spirit, Plague, Deathslinger, TriangleHead) and hope they're not going to respect pallets.
Any and all challenges that requires EGC to be active suck and I personally will not purposely go out of my way to do an End Game build.
Yeah, I didn't mean actually impossible. Just like, 'wow I've been trying my ass off and it just won't happen.'
-
@Slickstyles said:
You can be on the hook and have the survivors leave and still get the tome done. Also, you can finish this quest with multiple games.
I've gotten the stun the killer challenge in one game. Run Quick and Quiet with Head On as well as DS. Bring a medkit and just take the hit on a pallet and drop it for the stun if you have to.
Of course, for the last one, you can just use For the People and leave.
Ohhh good suggestions & yeah! I figured out the for the people one, but unfortunately I'm rank 6 and most of my matches are vs red rank killers now, so I haven't been able to escape like. at all. I finally did escape as obsession last match--but it was after I had decided to swap out challenges.
-
@ZCerebrate said:
Even my fairly new friends have managed to finish all the non-perk specific challenges (Ones that require Hag to be played etc) because the single trial ones so far haven't been completely unreasonable so far in this book.
Heroic Virtue (in book 1) is 3 TOTAL survivors leave before you regardless - and can happen over multiple matches meaning it doesn't have to be in one. You also don't have to survive meaning you get credit even if you are dying on hook or letting EDC take you as your teammates all escape through the door at the last second -teabagging.
Same applies to Book 3's Heroic Virtue which is the same exact thing but 6 survivors total (notice both do not have the condition that it has to be done in a single trial).
The stun one can be hard for people who aren't used to looping - I told my buddy to just COMMIT to the stun (meaning don't get baited until he is sure it will land) and even if he wasted the pallet just slam it on the killer after the hit. Also usually not a single trial thing - if it is then just keep playing with that in mind and you'll get it eventually as long as the killer isn't like a PH, Huntress or Deathslinger (Play those like you dont even have an archive to be honest).
The obsession one - it's just going to happen eventually. Took me a three tries too because someone else would do a DS at the end while I'm running every obsession perk under the sun trying to keep it... can only control it so much
Time consuming ones for me have been things like "Hook the obsession 8 times" or "Rescue 15 survivors"...
Ohhh you're right, I think I misread it. As for the obsession one--I have been trying WAY more than 3 times. I've been trying for 3 days. First I just couldn't get the obsession even after I piled on obsession perks and now I just haven't been able to survive a single trial. Like every game has been 4ks.
-
Yeah, when I play killer I'm rank 9 and I constantly get paired up against red ranks. It's pretty frustrating and I thought maybe if I started playing survivor again I'd get easy killers--nope. Yellow - green ranks I got paired up against rank 20s that spent every match camping while being paired with teammates who didn't know how to counter it and now I'm rank 7 so I get red rank killers every match.
-
It's kind of hard to FIND all the totems unless you're running small game & tbh, small game throws me off and I can never figure out where it's going off at.
-
@Acromio said:

-
Yeah, I hate that. I do totems when I can but I get a lot of braindead teammates so I can never waste time doing totems while they're exchanging hooks back and forth.
-
New Freddy's abilities are weird and kind of unclear. I played against him the other day for the first time since his rework (I've been away for a long time) and I could not figure out what he could do from a survivor POV. I've also played as him recently and I couldn't figure out what his power did, besides teleporting across gens.
-
Because if there wasn't a hatch/chance at escape despite having gotten stuck with a bad team, then there'd probably be a lot less people who played DBD.
-
Tbh when I play SWF its mostly me & my friend talking and I sometimes don't hear the killer coming because I'm too busy like, 'look at this Feng's bunny hat I'm kind of jealous tho, I want bunny Feng, should I get bunny Feng??'
-
Agreed. I've never seen a pyramid head that doesn't tunnel & immediately cross the map to get someone who's fresh out of the cage. It's kind of stupid, when I play pyramid head I wouldn't bother crossing the map to find someone again. I just go back to patrolling gens.
-
@malatruse said:
The first few matches you play a killer, it seems like the matches are way easier. I think it's designed this way to get you hooked on the high of those first good games.
I've sort of experienced that--but then at the same time, I used The Plague for the first time and my rank 10 ass was matched against four rank 2s

Because its an addicting grind of a game and there's pretty cosmetics.

@Moundshroud said:
The Noed thing is a BS excuse. You know why I say that? I play Michael Myers and most of the time, when the End Game Collapse has begun, I have hit infinite Tier-3 and have hooked someone. The other Survivors still come back and do their best to save the guy/gal on the hook. And frequently they manage it. So using Noed for an excuse simply doesn't wash as an reason for heading for the hills. Killers with chainsaws have insta-down all game, and people still try to save others from hooks.
The reason some Survivors leave others at the end is because they can't be bothered or they are cowards. I'm not trying to pick a fight; I'm just stating a fact. Noed isn't an excuse. You leave because you choose to leave, because you want to leave, and/or you are simply not willing to pull you weight on the team if you don't have to do so.
Lol. Why are you so angry about this? I leave people if there's NOED because I don't want to feed someone who used a ######### crutch perk.

Nothing announced yet. But the devs did gather some feedback on a past survey they did in which they asked if they liked the struggle phase of the Piramid Head cages which is based on skill checks compared to tapping. 👍️
Some people also go around it by changing the keybindings and binding it on mouse wheel. Try it, maybe it can help you out. 🙂
That would actually be terrible though too, because the pyramid head skill checks never accept my input. I can hit great skill checks no problem, I can hit DS and overcharge skill checks--but the pyramid head ones straight up don't acknowledge that I pressed a button.

I run into that a lot as well where I get hooked right as the gates are powered.
I found Kindred, DS and Adrenaline as the solution.
It helps give your teammates the best timing for a save as they can see the killer, and you get a full heal and an active DS right when you get unhooked. The chance of you not escaping with all that is very low. That's assuming no one has BT either.
Hahah, I mean that I am usually the last person left alive/last person left to go on a hook.

Are you running Kindred?
Pretty god tier for solo queue. Especially if your teammates aren't very good or don't know what they're doing. It helps herd them in the right direction.
No. But it doesn't help me anyway because I'm usually the last one hook because I'm a bit better at running than most of the teams I get. Either way, killers camp a lot, which is the point of what I was saying.

Maybe it's more prevalent at lower ranks. I rarely see it at rank 1. I'm on PC if that's the difference as well.
I'm on PC as well--and yeah you're not going to see it at rank 1 because camping doesn't work. People just take the time that you're standing motionless to genrush. Killers that are above about purple rank don't know that and so they camp. I had a pig in my last match that stood under the hook even though she was using Make Your Choice--which obviously doesn't proc when you're standing a foot away from the hook. Rank 10 Pig.

I haven't seen a killer do that to me or anyone on my team in over 50 games at least.
I wonder what game YOU'RE playing then because it happens in like every match I've been in. It started tapering off around rank 9 but then it started up again in the past few matches I've been in.

You play enough killer to have a full perk loadout with two tier 3 teachables from different killers. This story doesn't check out.
Also if you think that chat was someone being terrible you have really thin skin.
-
Almost every killer face camps, no joke. You're not getting some kind of special treatment--it's just what they do. There's some very good killers out there that don't do it, or there's people that just want to have fun and so they don't bother (I'm a killer main and I've been rank 1 and I just play to have fun so I'm also one of the people who don't bother to face or even proxy camp), but the majority of killers catch someone and then just sit in front of them.
-
No, probably not. The big evil in The Exorcist doesn't actually have a form. Reagan doesn't count, she's just possessed.
-
The speedruns are because tbh there's not enough for survivors to do. It's either do gens or interact with the killer, and unless you're a god looper that's just going to end up with you getting downed. And let me tell you, the amount of killers that stand there and stare at someone once they're down is like, actually insane. I think I played like 30 matches last night and about 25 of them were with a killer that just stared at people on hook.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/186972/bodyblocking-sucks
I do think a Perk: Hooker that allows the Killer to ignore Body Blockers entirely, pass right through them with package within 3/6/9 Meters from a Hook (depending on Level of Perk) and with a side benefit of being able to Hook faster might be an interesting addition. But bear in mind, I think Body Blocking is a perfectly acceptable and necessary tactic. I just think a Perk to help deal with it might be nice. After all, we have a Perk that totally eliminates Flashlights. :) Or to keep it simple:
Perk: Hooker
The Killer may ignore other Survivors when carrying a victim to the hook when when within 3 Meters of the Hook. In addition, the Killer may take a Survivor off the Hook and attempt to carry them somewhere else (and even rehook). At Level-1 they get 10 seconds for this new trip, At Level-2 they get 15 Seconds, and at Level-3 they get 20 Seconds. *Survivor can start to struggle fresh as normal each time with zero bar.
We don't need that, we have Mad Grit.
-
It's not though, there's a lot of exploits that people have just kind of accepted as part of the game now--which is bizarre. Like standing idle & watching a survivor on a hook is exploiting the way that the game is set up and it's weird that we excuse it as a strategy. Same with SWF.
-
Hag, Ghostface. I just hate Ghostface so much, I don't even know why.
