If it's lit, cleanse that sh*t
You also have to cleanse unlit totems--which is why we need a totem counter, so we know whether or not all of the totems on the map have been cleansed before popping the last gen.

I have the Hades skin and the Nea skin. I don't mind the full set ones, really.

By what? Reminding people to do totems? If everyone berates survivors for not just doing totems for counterplay to hexes like NOED and now Undying, then they need a totem counter so that solos and duos can actually counterplay. I know personally whenever NOED procs I think, 'wow, I wish I was playing in a 4 stack because I'm tired of this #########."

I used to be, trust me. Many years ago in games. I turn 48 years old on Christmas, and nowadays I just don't care that much anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I like to win, but a loss doesn't tilt me. On to the next game, or just call it a bad night for PvP gaming and go do one of my other entertainment options.
Hell, I played Survivor tonight just to take a break from Killer. Five matches: Two with Ebonies and all five with NOED. Whatever. Whether it's PvP or MMO raiding, my days of sweating in a video game are in the past.
Ahhh that's fair. I just hate losing & I always have. I was That Kid who gets mad at monopoly and flips the board but still makes everyone play all the time. I'm just competitive so it gets annoying when I'm like climbing through red ranks and one of my pips gets taken away. I already have the rank 1 survivor achievement but still, my pipppp.

I must seriously not have been hardwired that way, then. My rank in DbD doesn't matter to me any more than my SR rank in Overwatch Competitive did.
I'm stuck with a rank number here because BHVR designed only one mode, but I could not care any less if it says 20 or 1. All I care about is if I earned at least 20k BP base. I only play Competitive mode in Overwatch for the different match format as a means to shake it up a little from the Quick Play format.
Eh, my Overwatch SR matters to me much, much more than my rank in DbD since Overwatch tends to be more skill based than dbd ranks. But I'm also an extremely competitive person.

Then you should KNOW all this already. :) I fight Red Rank Killers and Survivors every day. Only once in a Blue Moon do I see the situation you described. It would be lottery odds to get it in the Red Ranks. It is a non-problem. If YOU keep running into it, then the common denominator is YOU.
I've never seen a killer who so single-mindededly follows one person before--it was definitely his fault, but I can see that it's really killing you to imagine that a killer could be the problem.

I read the post, closely. And you should have worked those Generators and then moved on to Boldness. Most people are happy when they get a Potatoe Killer. Again, don't place your failures on other people. Bad Killers are the exception, not the rule. The better YOU get the fewer of them you will run into. So play more games, rank up more, and worry more about YOU and less about other people.
I'm already in red ranks, dude. He was a rank 2 killer.

You were not punished because he was bad. You were punished because YOU were bad. You wanted him to chase you. You spent JUST as much time in wasted effort as that Killer did. You could have been earning points by doing Generators, Bones, or perhaps the odd rescue. You could have earned points by staying near him in the right. Don't blame other people for your failure. A bad Killer who doesn't know how to break off chases means you are free to make all the points you want.
There was no one to rescue because they couldn't catch the one person they chased. No one to heal because he wouldn't break chase. Literally could only do gens & go. Read the thread.

When are they going tondix the fact that killers get punished because they are playing against survivors who cant play. I got into a game where within the first 2 min i had one hook and 3 survivors slugged at the same time and i depiped after hooking them all.
At least as killer you have some control over it. Instead of slugging everyone you could have just slugged one person, hooked one person, and let everyone else do unhooks so that you get your hooks in. It's a really bizarre system that punishes winning too quickly though.
-
Yeah, they definitely should. Tbh I never use moris as killer because they're just kind of boring. I do once in a great while if I'm in a bad mood or if I want to see a killer's mori because I've never seen it before (I'm behind on some of the killers since I took a long break from the game). But they're boring to play with and against.
-
Wiggling and struggling are boring & crappy mechanics. They messed up my last controller, too.
-
Yeah, pretty much. There's things I won't do as survivor because they drive me so crazy when I play killer--like I hate the saboing hooks in front of them crap.
-
@Adamant_Tepig said:
The strange thing is, I had a prediction some time ago that someone would make this complaint inevitably. Guess I was right. I don't really mind pips or rank all that much in game, so if I didn't pip, I either didn't do much that trial or didn't do a good enough job to get higher quality emblems.
That said, I've had plenty of matches where I went unchased and didn't get a Chaser emblem whatsoever. I never once thought it was the killer's fault because of that, that was more on me, but then again I'm not the kind of player who is confident enough in my abilities to actively seek the killer out for a chase or two.
Well, it's difficult because I'm a highly altruistic player. My favorite perks are usually For the People or We'll Make it & empathy. So if a killer chases one person for the entire match and refuses to swap targets and can't catch that one person then.... ?? I can't get altrusim points, I can't get chase points because they won't chase me, all I can do is do generators with the time given and leave.

As survivor you can force chases with the bad killer and get more points and easily get a pip or two.
But that might involve sandbagging...so no 😋
Yeah, I was trying to run behind the person they were following all match but I was getting in the way and almost killed him, so I couldn't. The only option was to use the time they were sacrificing wisely. Which sucks.
-
@SloppyKnockout said:
You can get boldness from working on gens within terror radius, as well as destroying totems and hooks I believe. You should be able to at LEAST safety pip. That's your own fault.
Besides, pips mean literally nothing. The real problem here is the "omg my pips" attitude.
No, the real problem is that I couldn't play the entire match because the killer refused to interact with anyone else and was punished for it. That sucks, and it's pretty messed up. I don't care that much about pips, I'm already red rank--it's just stupid as hell that I'm punished because the killer sucks.

You can run zero perks on survivor and still win most of the time, unlike killer.
Lol what are you talking about? I got up to red ranks on killer without any meta perks. I pretty much only had Legion's base kit. I can still own up to about rank 7 without any perks equipped.

Yes, but who wants to spend hundreds of trials just to get an adept and drop that killer?
I've gotten 4ks with the nurse after like 5 trials with her and I play against mostly purple/red ranks.
-
Ranks have always been broken. I played in a game with a rank 2 that did so poorly that the killer wouldn't give him his third hook because he felt bad about it and thought he was a new player.
-
Best thing to do is just get good, because purposely deranking to get easier games is lame as hell.

You hit many survivors? You loose points because they were healing.
Survivors know how to do gens? You loose points.
Survivor was looping near the hooked person, while other 2 were doing gens? You loose points for camping and not protecting gens.
You killed all 4 survivors with billy instantly? You will barely blackpip.
I try to tell people that last point all the time. Like... you're not going to get any points if you insta-kill the entire team.Last night I had a match where the killer slugged two people, I was on a hook, and she was following the last person around while he was trying to unhook and it was like................. Why? Why are you denying yourself the points/emblem points of being able to hook people more than once? Just hook your slugs and let the last guy do his unhook. No one is going to get gens done because we're a mess, you're going to win, but you're going to get a lot more points if you hook everyone more than once & the survivors will be a lot less salty because they'll get some altruism in and might be able to safety pip.

Beyond that I have no idea. Just one rank color back.

Hahah, makes sense. I think the last time that I paid attention to rank reset, ranks were just reset back a bit, like... Borderline reds became purples, borderline purples were greens, and etc. I'm about to hit red rank on survivor again (I think I'm like two pips away) and I was wondering how far back it'd throw me in a week or so.

@Corikstarr said:

Holding a game hostage means the game literally cannot progress. While a killer camps a hooked survivor, the others can burn through generators and get to endgame quicker. Even then, once the hooked person dies, the game moves on as usual anyway. It's a temporary annoyance. If the game required every survivor to escape to count as a win, then we'd have a problem.
As for the poor sap being camped, that sucks, but it would be effectively the same as simply having a group that doesn't care about unhooking or having a teammate watch you die so they can escape with the hatch. Sometimes you're just stuck on a hook. Just because it's frustrating or boring doesn't mean it's game breaking.
Yeah, that second point is a good point--I can agree with that. It's just really ridiculous that someone can completely make it so that a person can't play a round from the start and it's really poor game design.
-
I watched your video and I want 6 minutes of my life back because it told me literally nothing.
As a killer I almost never missed my grabs and I've seen plenty of my hatchets go around corners and as a survivor I'm very used to being grabbed/hit through windows and hit around corners. I'm saying that the hit validation hasn't solved anything. Last week I got chainsawed through a window I was already running away from, and yesterday I was grabbed through a window I was already through. Same ######### as always.
-
Bannable? No. But face camping needs far more in-game punishment than it gets right now.

That's not what taking hostage means. Look up the definition before you start complaining about something you don't understand.
I know what it mean, don't try to be patronizing because you think standing in one spot isn't completely destroying a match.

I feel like you don’t know what “holding the game hostage” REALLY means. Holding the game hostage was DBD before the endgame collapse and a survivor could literally sneak around the map for an hour just to be an ass. A survivor being camped does not stop the game from ending or continuing. Unlucky for the survivor yes and it’s a bad move for the killer because the other survivors go Scott free because they aren’t moving from the hooked survivor. It is not holding the game hostage and is punished already. I don’t really see why people complain about it at this point. Sometimes you get unlucky move on to the next game. There are by far more non camping killers than ones that do. Just like there are more survivors that dont try and bully killers who are clearly newer to the killer or game that do.
I know what it means. It's taking the game hostage for one player by making them completely unable to play the game--and it's making the rest of the team unable to actually interact with the killer. It's pretty much a complete match killer and shouldn't be an acceptable strategy.
-

It is though. It's your teams fault if you don't capitalize.
It isn't though. Because it's literally holding the game hostage.
-
@EvilJoshy said:
Camping is fine, it's the survivors that need to learn. If your solo survivor maybe make Kindred a built in perk?
LOL you must be a rank 21 level killer if you think camping is fine. It's not fair for survivors & it's boring to do and negatively impacts YOU.
-
Still feels pretty bad. I jumped through a window yesterday and got grabbed from it when I was already landed and running away from it. The game like, threw me backward multiple feet and reset my position inside of the animation.
-
Tbh it should be punished a lot more. There's absolutely nothing in the game that I hate more than a camping killer--unless you have a coordinated team, it effectively holds the game hostage for one player.

Sure there was not whispers running or stridor? Stridor can be very strong, if you are lucky that you are in the 1 match of 20 were no sound bugs happen.
No, he wasn't running any tracking perks or add-ons at all. I checked because it was so suspicious that he would wander around lost for a while and then just suddenly go DIRECTLY toward someone who was hiding. It was a lot like when you play Overwatch and you're watching a ######### Widow who can suddenly hit you around corners once she's flustered.
Like, 'oh I can't find anyone........ LET ME BEELINE ACROSS THE MAP, RUNNING WITH PURPOSE TO THE BASEMENT/TRACTOR/FAR CORNER OF THE MAP WHERE SOMEONE IS'

Hey, yeah, uh... ya know Legion has tracking abilities as his base kit, right? No perks or add-ons required. I'm sorry you had a rough set of matches, but 'able to find you' is a long stretch from 'cheating'.
You all gotta get yourselves to the red ranks. I honestly can't remember the last time I went against a Rank 1 killer who used NOED. Even bringing it seems like a tacit admission that you can't stop the gens from being completed.
I'm a Legion main, dude. Don't try to tell me how he works. Killer instinct only works after a successful frenzy hit--not when Legion is casually strolling around the map unable to find anyone so they decide to toggle on their wallhacks and beeline across the map to go after someone in a completely opposite corner.
& I'm rank 5 right now but I still run into NOED every match.

Ran into a cheating Legion this time. Knew where everyone was hiding all the time with no add-ons or perks that enabled it. Fun. Guess what? That Legion ALSO had NOED. and Devour Hope, which I see on every other killer now.
-
Matchmaking basically doesn't exist and rank is meaningless. I have the same issues on both survivor & killer.

@dugman said:
It's probably easier to read the Wiki article on it, it lists all the different categories and things that earn you credit toward the different emblems
https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Emblems
Personally though I don't care about ranks and emblems at all. Their only purpose in the game is matchmaking and frankly your rank will go up or down naturally as you play anyway, why artificially worry about it? Ranks and pips also are terrible measurements for who won or lost a game since you can have two identical games against identical opponents with all the same events and scores and times and gens and kills but because you are rank 10 you gain a pip but if you are rank 2 you lose a pip. And saying you "won" one of those matches but "lost" the other even though they were literally identical except for your artificial rank outside the match is nonsense. Not to mention they're presumably still working on the MMR system they currently have disabled and if that's fixed emblems and pips will have no meaning at all.
Oh yeah, I don't care at all. I've been red rank in the past and it was kind of unfun and I don't really like to tryhard, but I was curious about it.
-
I love using Balanced Landing. I always pick gens and heal next to drop points so that I can dash away as soon as I need to.

Yup, same. I also just played a match against someone with ANOTHER IRI ADD-ON & EBONY MORI. Jesus, hahah.

Mood. My first two matches were both against killers with iri add-ons and ebony moris--and of course, they both had NOED. As did the 3 killers after that.
-
Coordinated 4 man squads of SWF are busted, but people duoing or something isn't. I actually play better if I play alone because I pay more attention.

Legion. I one-tricked Legion to rank 1 back when I actually used to play a lot.
