Because otz being better then them makes them insecure or something idk.

That's how I know you're not very good at the game. Don't worry, 95% of the killer playerbase is in the same boat as you. (I don't support the Clown nerfs btw, just pointing out that still considering Clown to be a weak killer after his overhaul is a sign of prejudicial ignorance and lack of practice.)
Uh huh, so when I see multiple killers mains with many thousands of hours who have competed in tournaments say that he is a weak killer I should ignore them and instead believe Joe shmo on the forums. I played clown a decent bit after his rework and don't get me wrong he is better he's know longer in contention for the worst killer in the game but he's no where near the top.
I can say that I played almost 800 hours of killer alone and that I certainly wasn't the best killer but I wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but whatever man keep coping.

Someone implied it earlier, but I suppose removing just Smartface would have been seen as racist. So I guess they had to remove them all to avoid that pitfall.
I mean the players aren't stupid we know what was going on so deleting them all just seems like overkill and seems more like they are just trying to protect their own image more then actually trying to protect their playerbase from abuse.
-
@Rizzo said:
I think this has been said already multiple times, but this has nothing to do with the character, the issue is not the character itself, no one really thinks Leatherface is inherently racist, the real issue is the player behind it and their intentions.
The removal of the masks are a way to remove an additional tool that some people used to target and discriminate others, of course players are punished for targeted harassment, however this decision has been taken to prevent the discrimination from happening in the first place.
I think this is a point that a lot of people ignore: you can't punish an action that hasn't happened yet, you can prevent it though and this is aimed at that.
I suggest to speak to those people who have gone through this to understand better why this action had to be taken.
And to be completely honest here, no one is saying a replay system in game would be a bad change, I myself would love to have it, it would make the ACMs and Support team's work way easier, but the main focus of this decision is preventing an issue from happening.
My problem with your comment is that I really don't think the players behind the hate are actually being punished. You can prevent things from happening with consequences to those actions you don't have to take away something that other people enjoyed innocently to do that either. The problem at large is that DBD has a nearly non-functional report system and it's not just a problem with this situation either this is combined with a fairly useless anti cheat are the reason hacking are such a problem.
I honestly really don't care about the masks themselves and if it makes people who felt targeted by this more comfortable, great I'm completely okay with that but it sets a dangerous precedent that they just removed all the masks when we all know only one of them was being used in a negative way by hateful trolls
-
I mean if you aren't able to get a down then yeah 3 gens won't win you the game but they give you an astronomically higher chance of snowballing when survivors have to group up.
-
@Exxodus21 said:
NOED is fine. Any perk that can be completely prevented from being used certainly doesn't need a nerf.
A perk doesn't need to be busted op to be changed. I don't think it needs a nerf I think it needs a whole ass rework, currently it doesn't really reward killers for playing well and I know it's meant to be a safety net perk but there are other perks that do it better and more fairly then NOED does. For survivor it's just straight up not fun to go against, I'm not one to buckle to bitching but if a large amount of players think something is unfun including people of just about all skill levels then maybe somethings wrong.
I don't even like the perk as a killer main I think it promotes a bad mind set , namely weakening yourself till endgame when the majority of your W's should be certain before it ever gets to endgame. It makes people rely on a powerful feeling perk that only works when. You are about to lose most times. I'd far prefer a perk that helps me throughout the match instead of only coming into play at the last minute. Plus good survivors will see NOED and instead of possibly going back in for a save and giving the killer a chance to snowball into a 2, 3, or even a 4k they'll either find the totem immediately and break it or leave giving the killer only 1 maybe 2 kills.
-
@Brimp said:
I still dont see why noed would need to be changed.... Noed definitely does not fall under "broken" when boons are in the game.
Broken? Id say no, but it's certainly not fun to play against and has never led to an interesting gameplay experience only frustrating or pathetic ones. Honestly if they ever rework it I hope they make it stronger but with more counterplay then hope you and your team does every bone when there is zero incentive to do so before it pops since most people that use noed don't run other hex perks for that exact reason.
-
@dugman said:
Clown's busted perk got nerfed but two of his others got buffed.
Clown anything isn't really busted tbh and it's an addon not a perk. Even after his rework and buffs he's still easily one of the worst killers in the game with pretty much any loadout.

Another thing is that all the really good things in the first dev update are ideas/concepts.So it will take a looooong time until we'll see them in the game if at all.
So if we ignore these changes then this mid chapter update has to be one of the more useless ones i've seen so far.
Quite disappointing,but that's the way BHVR works
Yeah this really feels like a filler chapter through and through

Another update where there are no map changes, no buffs to weak killers, nerfs to the strongest killers, no QOL updates, no changes to any OP perks (notably COH).
Just absolutely lazy and useless changes that once again show their inaptitude and priorities with the game.
Well there is the wiggle changes which is neat I guess but the rest of the changes are just so minor or things that aren't even happening with this update just them saying "hey this is what we plan to do" which who knows if they'll actually follow through with those promises.

Wether its good or bad publicity is still publicity people will eventually get over their missing cosmetics I myself had a few of them but in the end he was the only killer to have unlocks in that way. I wish they would do more like it but ya mid chapter is better if its subtle rather than overwhelming changes so as to contain any fallout that could potentially arise. Think of the masks like this they arent trying to punish anyone whp didnt misbehave they are merely trying to prevent future issues from arising.
Honestly, I get more excited for the mid-chapter since that's where they do current killer reworks buffs and nerfs so to see none of that is very disappointing

I'm still kind of in disbelief that Nemesis and Twins received what I assume are going to be some pretty significant nerfs to their best addons in this upcoming mid-chapter.
I don't think anyone thought these Killers were overbearing. Maybe a bit boring to play against but not overbearing. So why the nerfs to their strongest addons? Personally, I think the problem comes from BHVR focusing primarily on stats as opposed to in-game performance. Maybe shoddy wording, what I mean is that BHVR saw the data of Nemesis matches for example, saw that most of them were using Marvin's Blood and decided that the best way to promote diversity was to nerf it without really thinking if Nemesis was too strong with Marvin's Blood.
In my opinion, it leads to a very bad situation where stats will make a Killer or addon seem overbearing (or in Nurse's case underbearing) when the reality is a lot different, and then these nonsensical balance decisions are made.
Not to mention they buffed admittedly one of blights worse addons but no mention of alchemist ring or blighted crow, 2 addons that make him completely busted and I like blight he's one of my favorite killers but those addons are blatantly busted

It got content creators and Twitter going. As we all know, e-personalities are more important than you and me.
I mean if they listened to streamers then they'd probably have nerfed noed by now and a bunch of other things that streamers are known to complain about its also not like streamers' opinions differs that wildly from the rest of the community they just play it more than the average.

It really isn't, and I've never seen the whole bubba thing happen that was obviously done with racist intent but I'm not a POC, and none of the POC's that I know and talk to had ever experienced it either so it was only something I'd seen other people talk about. I also think it's kinda dumb that they removed all 4 when if we're being honest the only one people had a problem with was Claudette's face but I never use any of those faces anyways but I thought it was a cool idea for his character.

Honestly pretty disappointing midchapter, so few actual changes and zero nerfs to CoH, wasn't even mentioned. No killer buffs, nerfs or reworks when so many killers are in dire need of them and the perk changes all seem pretty meh. Cool that you're excited but to me, it seems like one of the most boring mid-chapter in a while and frankly I look forward more to mid-chapter's these days since I haven't liked a new killer since blight and they put most of their current killer changes and reworks there plus a large amount of perk changes but this time it was pretty underwhelming

It was stated on the patch notes i believe but my memory might be faulty, however its not difficult to understand that nurse has old complex code. And i may not be an expert on the matter but ive dabbled in game development before and its no simple task to make such a character. And it only makes it worse that the devs are a little braindead when it comes to actually fixing things sometimes.
Fair enough on all acounts

You can not balance game if you have 2 different groups. SWF has much advantages than Solo-q. And this created all DbD problems:
- You can not buff killers because Solo-q will be worse.
- You can not nerf SWF because you can not punish people who wanna play with their friends.
So best you can do, buff solo survivors and buff killers. Balance game around this. Even after this game will not balance perfectly but it will be most healthy version for sure. This is good step to balance game, i hope there is more buffs for solo-q and ofcourse for killers.
Buff solo-q, buff all killers in general, buff weak killers, rework Nurse and remove Trickster. And DbD is great game.
Only took them over 5 years to realize it

Wasn't meant to demean their ability to write, only that they should do so in the future however I did take the opportunity to insult their horrid way of taking criticism
-
the video isn't really anything new to people who know what they are talking about tbh. Addons, maps, and the general random factor has a heavy sway towards who will win. That said Otz has I think almost or over 8k hours in the game so you would expect someone like him to win the vast majority of his games, so his losses mean a lot more than the average.
Also, it's again very well known that if you play like a "scumbag" that doesn't care about the other side then killers are going to have a much easier time. Same as survivor with SWF and bringing in very meta and complimentary perks with good communication
Another thing to note is that MMR as per the devs explanation on one of their QnAs is that there is a matchmaking MMR cap and as per the very recent dev update they when someone leaves a lobby they will prioritize a speedy replacement instead of a quality replacement so the majority of the time Otz still plays with people that are nowhere near his skill level because if he did only play with his skill level then his queues would be hours long.
I also only ever thought the game was survivor-sided at the highest level and maybe that is skewed too because of how I play which was very "nice" and only using brown or yellow addons or none on the killers I mained.
The biggest problems in DBD balance-wise are each side's nuclear options, meta perks that aren't fun to go against, unfun and unhealthy playstyles being heavily rewarded, and map rng and design. MMR has only made all those problems so much more abundantly obvious and has made enjoying the game pretty difficult especially for veteran players
-
I haven't played since before it got added but from what I've seen in watching people it's way overtuned
-
The emblems don't mean anything though, they reward actions with weird weights and disproportionately harm or help killers based on how their powers work, the emblem system being buggy and useless is the whole reason we have MMR. I play multiple competitive games and almost never see this elitism problem and even when I do I never see people react positively towards it the people in those communities don't think its a good thing, not to mention all those company's balance things in a way that makes them fun for all ranges of play, UNLIKE THIS GAME. Plus not like SBMM is actually a decent account of skill anyways.
The benefits of having some amount of accountability towards the MMR system far outweigh any negatives that might come with it. I remember people telling me that I should wait till it comes out to judge it and that I don't need to know the score but I've played with it and hated it and it doesn't seem all that popular as a whole either, I know several people on both survivor and killer who quit the game because of MMR.

How do you know how complicated she is? do you work on the team or are you just assuming that, based on BHVR's ineptitude, it's complicated? the dev team that can't even get audio occlusion to work when it works out of the box on the engine they use

If BHVR aims to be 'as transparent as possible' regarding SBMM, surely not hiding it in-game so completely that most players don't even know it exists and still assume Grades are how matchmaking works is the way to do so. Show us MMR, or admit there's nothing 'transparent' about it. For instance, they say they are 'changing' how disconnecting works with MMR: we still don't even know how it works now, so knowing it'll be changed tells us absolutely nothing! How is this transparent?
This was a large complaint I had with MMR before it came out and its proven to be as annoying as I thought it'd be. You gotta wonder why they even care to throw these "examples" in when we as players have zero context to what it means anyways and means nothing
-
@jesterkind said:
They mean as transparent as possible with the development, not with the mechanic itself. There's no real reason to show people their MMR, that wouldn't really achieve anything beyond satisfying idle curiosity.
Though, I agree, seeing more about how it functions regarding disconnecting would be a very helpful bit of info. That'd help contextualise how the changes will affect it- hopefully they'll be more open about that when they've got more to share about how they're making those changes.
Giving players feedback on their performance as well as where they stand relative to the community helps a ton with a lot of things, for instance, pretty much anybody can just say they play at high MMR and say they are having a great or awful time whereas who actually knows if that's true. It being visible would also grant a large amount of transparency to how the MMR actually works and would allow people to see if actually works at least vaguely.
I expressed a lot of distrust over the MMR system because frankly, the tests were all awful experiences and because having a secret MMR shows me they have zero confidence in it working properly, so far most of my worries have been proven true and after playing for a month with MMR I quit the game and haven't been back since, I keep up with the game's progress purely because there aren't any decent alternatives in the genre and would love to see this game turn around and surprise me with some good things but so far it's only been more disappointment with BHVR since I stopped.

Well, i'd say most people have a problem with his insane ability to camp, and sure if they were able to remove his ability to camp so effectively without affecting the rest of his kit I'd be fine with that and to any other killer that people hate going against like twins then I'd agree that they need reworking too

-
I'd rather the perk just have its 4th or 5th stack as its base and not have it stack. It's competing with devour for hex perks that stacks and lullaby's effect is nowhere near strong enough to warrant it being a stacking effect, maybe even just lowering the number of stacks needed or how you gain the stacks would help as well but knowing bhvr it will likely be a while before they even touch the perk.

Don't.
But in all seriousness if you're seriously wanting to improve as Billy here's some things you'll need to know.
1. Be prepared to lose. A lot. When starting out you need to get familiar with Billy's chainsaw and this takes a lot of time. Don't feel bad when you lose and don't resort to just m1ing everyone. Pay attention to survivor patterns and as you get more advanced you can use those patterns to path for flicks.
2. Find your sense. Billy's chainsaw uses the controller sensitivity not mouse sense. On PC I recommend keeping this at 100 for maximum range of movement, on console only thing from 85 to 100 is fine but be careful with 100 as it can be hard to track survivors that are in your face.
3. Q and E. Most of the best Billy players use Q and E to steer the chainsaw due to how sensitive the chainsaw is when using the mouse. This allows for more precise flicks and control. But of course this is all personal preference.
4. Addons. I actually recommend running no addons to start. The reason for this is you need to master Billy at his weakest first as it sets the foundation for the more advanced stuff. Engravings can be put on here in there but I'd recommend setting your muscle memory early so you have an easier time later.
Finally 5. DONT RUN BAMBOOZLE. Now yes bam is a great Billy perk however, it is significantly more beneficial to learn without it. It teaches good habits and makes you have to be creative to deal with windows. Learn without it and throw it on once you already grasp his basic mechanics and chase interactions for a stronger Billy.
Hope this helps and I encourage questions 👇
God how my boy has fallen, I miss 2019 when he was great and I played no one but him. Man why couldn't they have just tossed out charge speed addons and be done with him

There is a lot of people crying about how unbalanced is this game. Besides specific perks, survivors complain about tunnel and camping the most, and killers about gen rush. The perks the make game interesting and different overtime, but camping/tunneling/gen rush don't.
That is the pont of all this crying. I don't care if i die as survivor or if i kill no one as killer. I want to have a great time playing the game and to have at least TIME, the game has to get rid of those mechanics that make the game shorter and boring for any of the players.
How? I don't know. I think it's not about perks. But playing around perks, to...
...avoiding camping: BT should be a mechanic, not a perk. A kind of Camaraderie could be implemented with the killer as the trigger and depending on gens done. If none is done, progression of the entity is completely stopped. If all gens are done, no 'killer camaraderie' at all. And all the calculations in between.
...avoiding tunneling: DS as a mechanic and should be balanced depending on how many gens done are in game. If none is done, DS is longer and has no restrictions. With all gens done, DS is shorter and you can't even open a gate without losing it, for example. And all the calculations in between.
...avoiding gen rush: Corrupt Intervention as a mechanic. Deadlock as a mechanic but with a rework: ti only leaves unblocked the 2 gens with the lowest progression in the map.
This also can be reworked. All constraints about tunneling/camping may be reduced if a gen is completed in the moment. All constraints about gen rush may be reduced if someone is hooked.
May this proposals make the game boring? May be. If we don't try, we won't know it. But I am also start of being bored of the actual gameplay, and I prefer to give it a try.
Give more ideas!
If you wanted anyone to take your post seriously and not immediately have a negative look of it then you probably shouldn't have titled it and acted like everyone is "crying" doesn't exactly get people off on the wrong foot, and frankly, I'm not even gonna bother reading the rest of your post but based on the rest of the comments I'm gonna assume what you said was pretty ignorant

Not always. It's wrong to assume everyone DCing has a valid reason, when people will DC for any petty reason they want, as has been proven every time the DC penalty is suspended.
I mean that's just a matter of repression, if you take something they wanted to use for more valid reasons(not saying every reason is valid) and then give it back to them later then yeah they will abuse it. It's also wrong, IMO, to say that the game being held hostage is the only valid reason for a DC, there are plenty of awful and mind-numbingly boring things that players can do to other players and also just certain things in the game that no one should be forced to play with.

Fair. I didn't get to know OG decisive. (think I have 3yrs in dbd now?)
But I knew it before it's nerf and after. I've never viewed it as a powerful perk personally and it never ruined my life while playing killer.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2722787#Comment_2722787
Also to this: Everyone has a different experience playing the game and I personally find playing killer easier and more relaxing.
I don't sweat my soul out to "be a good Killer" and I usually get 3-4K on average. Like...is the whole stigma here about losing a 4K over DS? Cause okay I can sorta see that...I guess? It's a bit of a sweaty mentality though.
No the stigma is that losing that much pressure against decent survivors will lose you not just the 4k often it will result in a 4 out, especially if you're playing a lower-tier killer on a bad map
-
@Epitome said:
Seriously think about it.
The perk was garbage before the nerf (people would just tunnel through it anyway) but now it's even more garbage cause it deactivates if you sneeze.
I'm here for the totem and gen deactivation but healing? Seriously? It should deactivate when you finish healing.
Those opinions aside, they should alter it since it's still trash.
Make it actually decisive.
(it's not called Lucky Strike)
Rather than a sad one-shot skill check, it should be switched to Active Ability key/button, and you should be able to decide when to use it. (Still with one use of course) It's meant to discourage tunneling, no? Well, what's more discouraging than walking to a hook laughing to yourself about how easy that tunnel was only to get stabbed before you get your hook?
I play both sides and I've never had a problem with Decisive Strike as a killer.
I think the only people who complained about it were those who actively want to and like to tunnel.
(Which I do on occasion as well, like anyone playing Killer does. But never once have I gotten stabbed and said "I didn't deserve that")
If you never had a problem with old decisive even when you don't tunnel purposely, then I hate to be the one to inform you but that means you weren't a very good killer. Back with old ds there were times when I'd be downing and hooking people so fast there'd be 2-3 people with ds up and even if I didn't tunnel I'd be hit by it at 50 seconds often cause people would play aggressive with it combined with unbreakable. So I'd have to choose to either slug them and hope they don't have UB or pick them up and hope they miss their skill check. Plus DS is still a good perk for what it is designed to do, namely give you an extra chance if you are actually getting tunneled. It's not supposed to garuntee you an escape if you are getting tunneled just to give you a chance at least.
