Please for the love of whatever God bhvr worships board that window up and never open I back up. That window alone ruins that map when it spawns, makes the main building absurdly strong. When it doesn't spawn chapel is one of the better balanced maps too

I considered boons a totally crazy idea as a concept, since release they are even worse than I thought they would be, it is either the botched version of MMR or boons but I need to find another game as I'm constantly thinking meh and dc'ing as killer around 2 mins. I'm hoping someone can give me some inspiration as to what to do/game to play
I stopped playing in September hopefully VHS comes out soon and is good.
-
I think a large part of why people dc so readily these days is people are so tired of seeing the same ######### day in and day out. 2021 was in my opinion one of dbds most boring years to date, for me at least. No killers that released held any sort of interest from me, no perks seemed all that interesting, QoL changes were meh for me, balance changes were mostly things that made my experience less enjoyable. I really have very little positive things to say about anything bhvr did in 2021 and I'm sure the pandemic played a role in this I get that but it doesn't change how I feel about it. Before you ask me "if you don't like it why play it?" I don't, haven't in almost 3 months.
-
The thing with spirit is that if you aren't good with directional audio you're at a severe disadvantage with her, I have a moderate hearing loss in my left ear and I can do alright with her just using mostly predictions and trying to hear as best as possible(though it ######### me over a lot) but if your ears are jacked or have a bad headset she's gonna be a pain to play.

You play dbd you should be better at detecting salt then this. Maybe this game has made you over sensitive to it but my comments had zero salt in them

Short answer is no, long answer is do you really think bhvr would fix something that would take effort, hell no.

The addon just tells you that somewhere around you is a survivor, doesnt mean you will hit them guaranteed. I managed to throw off most of the spirits I met nowdays, they cant handle at all if you do spins or other weird mindgames like switching directions last second.
Okay cool, happy for you doesn't mean she isn't easy to play at higher levels which was the point of the thread.
-
Don't roast me but trapper, I feel like I'm running around with magnets on my feet when I play against him.
-
I honestly couldn't care less one way or the other, if a survivor wants to lobby dodge go ahead killer queue times are usually significantly better.

sounds like you only play spirit for dailys and get baby survivors who run straight and camp pallets.
I don't run spirit at all since I don't have 2 completely functioning ear drums, also cause the games uninstalled but you can also just run the addon that gives killer instinct when you're in range of a survivor and not even have to worry about that.
-
@Yords said:
Seriously? And what other aspects of gameplay do you mean exactly? Looping is literally the most interactive thing a survivor can do with a killer
You can say that but he's not wrong. I also think he means killers where their power is pretty much only useful in chase which leads to situations where the killer cant be balanced properly cause just being able to down relatively fast in a chase isn't enough to be a good killer, look at all the best killers in the game they have powers that can be used both inside of chase and outside for either movement or zoning from long ranges killers like nem, deathslinger, trickster and clown are just lazily designed killer power. Nem has some map control but he's at the mercy of the zombies functioning properly which is rare at best even on indoor maps.
I think one or 2 killers that specialize in chasing is fine but its been an obnoxious trend in the last year of killer releases.
-
i would say the least skill required would be spirit, literally just have functioning eardrums and you'll do well especially with some of her more cracked addons, most is probably nurse or blight to actually do well with without being perk reliant.

I just really
really really reallydislike her as a killer and as a survivor. Sure she is unique but she literally ignores all mechanics and basic functions of this game. I like the fun of mind gaming my opponent and with Nurse the only thing to do is double back or hold W. Its 50/50 which means She's either going to hit you or not and anyone who is half decent with her is getting you regardless. I am not knocking anyone who plays her but I truley despise her. I used to suicide first hook but I realized it makes my team mates feel like they had a chance if I didn't so now I just play as immersed as possible lol.of course you can, I don't like playing her or against her either.

hope he gets those changes for those that like him
-
The short answer is no, the longer answer is I wouldn't recommend him in his current state. He's not nearly as weak as when he launched but he's still nowhere near the top. If I were to try and compare how he feels to other killers I'd say he feels like a mix between huntress and plague but isn't rewarded as much as either for using his power. He's good at camping though I guess.

I'm not surprised that it happens, I'm saying that "nearest hook is basically out of wiggle range or at the border" is not a great map spawn and we have a bigger issue there.
The body just standing around might be a cleaner solution but that leads back to the "so much of everything is clientside" problem that the game basically needs a rewrite to fix.
Well I don't disagree that map spawns currently aren't in the best state to put it lightly but I'll be honest I don't know what you mean with your second point.

And he can not be revealed to stop his stalking. Ghostface suffers because once he get's revealed he just has nothing aside from the M1 Killer skill of the player. Wraith can just bing his bong and go back to stealth but Ghostface, once revealed is useless for 24 seconds (not counting add-ons).
Now what are you supposed to do as Ghostface? Leaving the chase was the option but with that much solo healing in the game this no longer works. Normal healing was no problem because you occupied the time of two survivors but this is no longer the case. Continue the chase? Well, M1 Killer without any special power, this can take a while.
Also after the 24 seconds the question is if you even can activate you Shroud again to a good effect. Making distance to a survivor (Whispers helps) and then trying to stealth again is a bad option because you wast time and can not get back to stalking that quickly.
I enjoyed Ghostface before CoH was interduced and could play around Spine Chill a bit, but it was already bad. However now it just got worse as I have no fallback option, meaning that Spine Chill just gets to wreck me full force.
Myers has another idea: He can at least stalk while just being there and standing still. I run him with Enduring and get my stalk after a pallet (also very useful once you pop T3). Also you still have the Tombstone Piece + stalk-speed add-ons if you really want to ruin somebodies day.
Wraith at least has mobility: When you drop a chase you can quickly get back into the fray by running there. Also his add-ons can give him a bit of an edge, be it quicker pallet breaking, vaulting, running, stealth, non-directional bell...the dude at least has tool. Now compare that to Ghosty...he got...well...his Camera is cool, I guess...
The reason this gets on my nerves is because I really, really like Ghostface. He is still my favourite Killer by far. But he is just a bit miserable right now...
I get your frustrations but they seem misguided by centering spine chill as the problem. CoH is busted against just about every killer, meanwhile spine chill is only slightly stronger against a few. Ghost face was also in desperate need of some buffs even before CoH and that wasn't because of spine but because his reveal makes him too vulnerable to counterplay, especially with it being as buggy as it is, and it's century long cooldown. I won't deny that Ghostface in particular gets a little bit more shafted against spine chill then the rest of the killers but it isn't necessarily because spine chill needs a nerf but more because Ghostface needs a buff.
-
Personally hate playing her and against her for the same reasons. I like chasing and being chased which hag is not meant for. When played correctly she doesn't really chase except for to zone you into a trap and her chases don't go outside her web so as a killer I spend more time putting traps down then I do chasing and as a survivor I have to make the choice of play a boring game or go into a heavily stacked against me area to get any fun out of the match.

If the nearest hook is over 32m away, then your spawns are buggered and we have bigger issues.
It happens a lot more then you think, plus it wouldn't have to be 32m to be impactful, it could only be 16 or 20 and that's a simple nurse blink away, hell blight can already reach people at the other side of the map and hit them before BBQ wears off.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2746060#Comment_2746060
Nearest hook to Survivor, maybe?
Well that could get weird too, what if the nearest hook is over 32 meters away and now the nurse can see the aura of someone they are currently in chase with. It's certainly not an impossible thing to happen with hook spawns the way they are on certain maps. The survivors already just lost a teammate they don't need more negatives put on them as well.

Well, the action speed is always pretty good. Also Spine Chill counter Tinkerer and other perks a Killer can use and allows you to determine if a Killer is approaching you or still only searching. In chase the action speed can give vaults you would have missed and other funky stuff.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2746023#Comment_2746023
Yeah, just not stalk people. You know, just play a 115% M1 Killer who sometimes has no red stain. Maybe try hit-and-run with Sloppy Butcher and Nurse Calling...
A good survivor with Spine Chill is in Mexico before you even arrive at their generator and will taunt you to run shack with them...at least Ghosty can tbag back at them...
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2746033#Comment_2746033
It is...sorry to say that but: Try to play Ghostface against 4 people with Spinechill and try to get a good stalk off them. Unless you can get a very good angle or stalk through a crack (not very reliable) you will not get anything. And even if most survivors with Spine Chilly will leave the generator once it becomes active for a bit too long.
Without stalking you are a M1 Killer that sometimes has no red-stain. And Hit-and-Run does not work anymore with all the Healing in the game...
All the while you are giving them 6% more repair speed and more Skill checks to add even more 1% boni to the mix.
Ghosty and Myers are already slow in the game. Spine Chill ruins their playstyle and also adds insult to injury by giving survivors even more gen-speed. Thanks...
You kind of hit another point that makes them weak that isn't spine chill, aka the healing meta. The hit and run playstyle was their strongest playstyle before since both Myers and GF have inconsistencies with their respective stalk and stealth mechanics, less so for Myers but he also has bigger problems then spine chill, but for for GF and wraith healing meta has destroyed their map pressure as GF's reveal is buggy at best and wraith has no lethality in his base kit. Perks can somewhat make up for wraiths but it's a riskier game.

Well not to derail this thread but your explanation for your idea is a bit short. I also am not a fan of giving survivors the ability to use the portals as well even with the caveat of giving the killer info on you since we know very well how little that matters when against survivors thst know what they're doing from how abusable old Object of obsession was.
So, it needs more substance, got it. I was trying to keep it short, so it's easily picked apart.
How exactly do you think this will be used in a manner similar to old OoO? The reasoning behind using Killer Instinct rather than an Aura reveal is because it can't interact with the new OoO.
What I meant was that to good survivors the killer knowing your location means very little when you are in a swf since you will constantly know their location and can do what you need to do as soon as the killer is busy with something. For example say you're in a swf and your team did the smart thing at the beginning of the game and split up, and your friend just got downed and hooked at the other side of the map well your teammate that was doing a gen in the middle of the map just piped up and said he's now in chase well now you as a survivor can use those portals to get across the map and go for an unhook. Now the killer has 2 options continue their current chase and let the person get unhooked or drop the chase and return to hook. Either option will lose the killer more time then if a survivor had to run across the map which would possibly give the killer enough time to down and hook their second chase allowing for a snowball of pressure.
So my biggest issue with allowing survivors to use these portals would be that it would very likely allow swfs another tool they dont need and would likely cause a greater difference in power between swf's and solos or killers, which is very much so not what we need in the game currently.
-
It depends on how the DC procs the perks. Does it proc right the second they DC cause that could cause some strange interactions like with BBQ from where would the point of reference for the 32 meters be? The killers current location when the survivor DC'd or from where the survivor was when they DC'd. My preferred way that I think would be the most balanced would be the husk idea where when someone DC's it leaves the player model and to which the killer can simply down and carry to the hook which would then proc any related hook perks.
-

Not to bring up drama, but after the True situation, it was sort of obvious the entire thing was PR based.
I mean don't get me wrong I don't disagree as far as I'm concerned the fog whisperer program is just an advertising strategy but Otz at least tries to do more then that since him being a fog whisperer does apparently put him in contact with people at bhvr.
-
Spine chill isn't the thing that makes stealth killers weak, the bigger problem is that stealth killers have no map pressure, wraith kinda does and that's why he's the best stealth killer. Spine chill does counter stealth killers but overcoming that offers some amount of growth to the killer as well since survivors relying to hard on Spine chill will thrown off guard by killers who work around it.

When even Otz is losing hope with them, then we know we are screwed...
Not that I don't get him, he is trying a lot to help this game. Whole Whisperers thing is joke, they are just walking advertising for them. If they would be smart they would use them more for ideas about balancing and early testing. Then community for skin ideas. Work smarter, you know...
That stream was really sad to see, Otz very clearly takes his role as a fog whisperer far more seriously then anyone at bhvr and he really tries to do what's best for the community, and even for BHVR only to be disappointed over and over again. It's like being a teacher and seeing the brightest and kindest kid in your class be constantly abandoned by their dead beat parent.

Dev response? I don’t expect one, I’m talking about a community response, criticism, alternate ideas. I’ve literally had one comment on it.
The problem is most people on the forums recognize nothing we do reaches the devs, I'm not saying that's the sole reason your thread didn't get traction, there could be a myriad of reasons why but I can safely say that many just don't see the point in engaging with posts of that nature when the devs have been very clear on our lack of ability to change anything.
-
burh I'm sorry to say this to you but if you cant use the lullaby range to your advantage then you are either not very experienced at the game or not very good at this game. The mechanic itself is perfectly fine and huntress is easily one of the most well-made killers this game has. Her hatchets hitbox being a bit wonky sometimes (mostly due to server problems) is the only thing that I could see justified complaints over.

I mean I literally posted an idea for general map traversal and it has simply been crickets. I don’t think people are that interested.
The rest of them though yeah I’ve seen posts about them.
Tbf I think a lot of people just get tired of even suggesting things myself included that's why I don't really make threads about it since it just feels utterly useless bhvr doesn't listen, or at least it certainly doesn't feel like they do. People have suggested hundreds of things that seem like great ideas for tons of problems the game has but they mostly only ever got crickets from the devs. So we can only assume they didn't like the idea for whatever reason, didn't see it, or did like it but weren't competent enough to implement it into the game in a smooth way or maybe they already did try it but it never made it through playtest but I super doubt that since BHVR seems to stubborn to ever backtrack on work they've put hours into a.k.a billy's overheat.

What core changes would you like to see to gameplay? (Outside of adding a Universal Boon Perk for Survivors).
Im not the OP but there are tons of things people would like to see changed to the base game instead of a chapter, I.E buffing solo survivor, buffing the base killer mechanics such as some kind of map traversal that all killers have access too, a ton of map rebalances for maps like RCPD and shelter woods, making certain perks base kit that should never have been perks in the first place like shadowborn and kindred(without the killer aura reveal near hooks). Just to name a few
-
I mean MMR was never consistent when I played so idk.

Almost every time I get a killer (usually wraith?) who has devour hope, and sometimes ruin, the second it gets cleansed they get salty and start hard tunnelling and facecamping.
This is called trying to win.
But it’s obvious when it’s out of petty spite.
Obvious to whom? Seems like they lost their totems and is now trying to win using the best strategy the can.
but I hate the lack of punishment and power they have to just do that with little repercussion.
There's the issue. You want people to be punished for trying to win in a way you don't like. You go on and on about fun and how unenjoyable it is to be camped or tunneled, yet you absolutely fail to consider the fun of the Killer as their perks (and chances of winning) are removed from the match.
I agree that this person is just being petty but I think we all can agree that these playstyles aren't fun to use or to play against and I really wish that playing in a more friendly way was rewarded heavier than just sitting there camping or slugging someone for 2 minutes.

@NOEDENJOYER said:
This perk isn't 100% an anti-tunnel perk yet.
The amount of times I've been stunned by this perk because I've hooked two people within a minute is staggering. If I'm chasing, downing and hooking another survivor, you DO NOT deserve to keep your Decisive Strike active even if you decided to AFK for a minute. It needs to be deactivated the second another survivor is hooked. Because, in any scenario where someone else is hooked, you are not being tunnelled and as such, do not deserve to keep your minute of invincibility.
DS is perfectly fine the way it is now, blessing a totem should also probably remove it but that's minor, if they're hitting you with the DS after that much time they did nothing and you gained a ton of pressure from that unless you were chasing them for a lot of that in which case it's doing exactly what it's supposed to anyways.
