Is it confirmed that the 5th anniversary crowns will be different?

There should be stricter ping limits on the players. Or favor the player with lower ping during hits. The screen of the lower ping player or the "virtual screen" of the server should decide hits, not the player with the higher ping.
It's funny because the devs claim that's the case. I know for a fact that it's not true though and you can easily test it for yourself by having low ping and still getting hit through Dead Hards and such.
-
Well MMR is a completely different system from the normal emblem-based system, so changing that wouldn't really do anything.
I'm sure the devs know that it's a problem and have worked around that with MMR, we just don't know for sure.
-
As I see it, it's a gray area. I think it's technically allowed as there is no explicit rule against it and I've never heard of anyone being banned for it, but it does fall under a rule about third party software:
"Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game"
So in their words it shouldn't be allowed but I don't think they care enough about it to ban people for it.
-
Yeah I would definitely play that as long as it was fun. It's the genre that makes the most sense if they ever made a spinoff game of some sort.
-
Omg that's amazing.

You sold me at the Quentin twerk. I'm all in.

Why everyone hates my boi? :(
I feel like he's just way too overtuned. He can teleport to any generator he wants and can be a monster in chase with his snares. ESPECIALLY if he has ruin+undying he can just teleport to any gen and reset it basically to 0 for free. He feels extremely unrewarding to go against.
-
I forgot Blight but he is in the bottom tier, he can be so effing annoying.
-
I agree with you that in general your worth of a player should not be based on your rank, however I do believe that it does definitely matter to some extent. Just in general red ranks can be bad but will almost always be better than a rank 20, it's not great but it definitely has some value to it. Staying consistently rank 1 can sometimes be tough to do because even 1 depip will derank you to 2, so I kind of see it as 20 - 2 is one set of players, and consistently 1 is another set.
If people are taking issue with your rank when discussing the balance of the game I could see why people could be upset because if someone doesn't have a lot of experience or knowledge in the game their idea may not be helpful or would be misguided because they just aren't as skilled. I'm not saying you aren't skilled I'm highlighting why people may think that way. In any fighting game balancing the game around the newer players is not a good idea.
-
My only complaint is that this test has been worse than the last one. It's still loads better than the normal colored matchmaking but I genuinely feel like the last one was amazing and this is only alright.
-
I don't think I've ever seen that in all of my playtime.
-
I've had brown rank teammates that played way better than most rank 1s. The point of MMR is that the colored ranks don't mean anything, and it's proving it's point.

Hol' Up
This is news to me.
Wasn't this a case with Kate as well and one of her skins?
Yeah, you gotta waggle the model around a little bit for the cloth pieces to move but you can clearly see that area.

Honestly.
Any simps for the infected titty?

I agree with some of that, like how there would only be 1 competitive mode and no casual mode (which they should add) but the previous ranking system was made with the intention of what MMR is doing, to match players of relative skill and it failed because the bloodpoint system is not a good system to track skill. There's always only been ranked in dbd since the beginning so I don't think just because MMR is better that means the game will be inherently different, it will just have more fair matches, which is always a good thing.
Just in general I don't like the sentiment of "this game having more fair matchmaking is a bad thing" because it's what people have been wanting since the beginning.
-
Nah he's definitely not that good. He's a lot better but it may just take some better planning to get around his speed. At the end of the day he's still an M1 killer with no special looping attributes.
He can't hit through walls or pallets like Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, and Huntress. He can't teleport like Hag and he can't slow survivors down like Freddy. He's just fast like Blight but is still an M1 killer.

They sent it to live to test it. This is the third time they have done so. With your logic, when they tested it the first time, they should have been confident it was working then. But it wasn't working as intended, so they shut it off. Theoretically, people should be getting matches against players of equal skill. But what is theoretical and what is actual are 2 separate things that can be completely different.
No they originally had it live and then they took it back for some tweaking because people were complaining and have tested it twice since then.

How do you know it is successfully predicting the outcome of most games? Do you work for BHVR and the data you are collecting is showing that to be the case?
No but they were confident enough to make it live for a while so it had to have been working.

Why do you say statistically speaking? What data are you using you are getting stats from? This is a feature that is still in development so it is reasonable to think that it isn't working as intended, which seems to be the case reading how mixed people's experiences are.
It can successfully predict the outcome of most games, that's the point of it. So statistically it is successful at matching people up because it can predict the outcome.

Still doesn't excuse why almost no one else get's downed aside from me, always being the first or second dead. As well as the other day I was going up against survivors that were actually on par with me if not a little better, and today It's like I'm playing against myself and worse.
They. Messed. Up.
Sometimes you die early but your teammates escape anyway. I've died too but it allowed my teammates to get out. I've been matched with people who were like rank 13 who played better than a lot of rank 1s I've been with. The old system did not indicate skill, it never did.
-
Why were you rank 20 tho? I thought rank reset only took you back to 18 or something like that. Are you literally a brand new killer?
-
Oh yeah that's really similar to me. The average rates for my games have been 2 deaths/2 kills. I also have just been having so much more fun than i've had the past few weeks.

how will dead by daylight ever be fair though. i don't understand.
It may be unbalanced but I want to be able to be matched up with players of my relative skill level. In the normal system I get matched up with people who just started the game, with MMR I'm actually getting matched up with people who should be playing with me.
-
The old colored ranks don't matter in MMR. You should be ignoring what colors you get matched up with because it's not affected by actual skill. That's the whole point of MMR.

Why not just say "Here's what my MMR experience has been like"? What's the point in discounting people who have different experiences that you obviously know nothing about because .. you're not experiencing it?
Statistically speaking people shouldn't be getting bad MMR matches, that's the point of the post.
-
I think statistically it's working better than the old system.

And what exactly is fair about being a solo survivor against a god nurse or a trapper player against a practicing comp team.
I don't get that. I've been getting teammates who are generally around my skill level. I have almost 1400 hours and in the old matchmaking system I sometimes got teammates who literally had 80 hours. I want to have teammates that have around the amount of time spent in the game as me and that's what MMR does.
-
Because I want to have fair games.
-
It's been taking data in the background for months, so if you play often it knows you very well already, the 10 matches it took from you was a long time ago.

That's fair enough, like I said I was curious if it was ever talked about in the past. Besides, I'm happy that I get the classic costume, so I can pretend to be one of the ones from the movie anyway lol.
They are typically under an NDA when they work with licenses so they almost never give any information about them. The only thing they've really said about working with licenses is that "some are easier to work with than others" and we can kind of guess which ones were cool and which ones weren't.

Just infinite skill checks over and over until they get off a gen?
No, 100% increased odds is double the odds. The chances are being increased by the number it already is, which is like 8% every second or something like that. So it would be 16% every second
-
Yeah they should get rid of the skill check zone and increase the skill check odds. Make it like skill check trigger odds are increased by 100%.
-
I use discord when I play with friends. It's just not as fun if you aren't communicating, i'm laughing 90% of the time.
-
BT was even buffed recently and still barely anybody runs it. I don't understand it's by far one of the best perks in the game if not the best. It's really frustrating how little I see it when I get unhooked, maybe like 10% of the time.
-
ummm yeah? The same thing happens for survivors with all of the exhaustion perks and a lot of other ones like BT and unbreakable.
-
It's been taking data in the background for months, if you play often it knows you very well.
-
Idk why people look up because you can't see where you're going. But to each their own I guess.
-
Yeah I'm an Ace main so this hurts me the most. They really just took his character away.

He doesn't look as happy or as confident and that's really his character... They took that grin off his face.

I can not confirm if it is working properly, or not, because...
Q was literally instant all day...
...and now, suddenly, it turned into a lobby simulator.
Interesting it's actually been the exact opposite for me. For survivor my queues were always sooo long but now they're instant.
-
I've always played in low but lately I've tried high and ultra and it just looks so good I've been playing on it lately. I can't get 120fps in high or ultra tho so sometimes I'll play in medium to get above 60fps.
I'll switch around but I've been sticking to medium/high
-
I look the most like Felix. I even have pictures of myself where my hair is almost exactly the same lol

Honestly unless the Legion has ruin+undying I find that healing is pretty effective actually. If you can heal up quickly enough that's just another round of frenzy he has to go into and hit everybody again. If the survivors play it right that can honestly take more time than healing did. He also would have to injure everybody again and then follow up with another hit which can be hard for Legion.
Most of the time I think it's better to heal against a Legion.

I'd rather her be a Killer tbh.
Think of when she controlled the MPD and all the zombies.
Yeah if it was a survivor I would definitely want Richtofen with legendary skins of the others.
-
I am on the side of him being not terrible and not needing a complete rework. He can definitely guarantee a down on anybody it just takes him a long time to do it. He definitely needs buffs but they were on the right track when developing him.
-
I really like the idea of a Call of Duty Zombies chapter/paragraph but idk if Samantha is the right character... She isn't really shown doing anything and just more controls the zombies. Maybe something like Brutus or a Panzer Soldat. That would be hella cool.
-
Nah I'm getting basically all of the Macmillan maps. I'm getting them pretty rarely in general tho.
-
I don't know how you could make Nemesis feel like Nemesis unless he was super OP. That's kind of why he was scary in the games, because he could punch through brick walls and pull rocket launchers out on you at any moment. To make any killer balanced and fun to play against in dbd you have to downscale them a little bit. How could somebody like Trapper, a dude who has bear traps even compete with the canonical Nemesis, it just wouldn't work at all. I understand your frustration but sometimes you have to downscale stuff if you want a balanced PvP video game.
