My first thoughts on the new chapter from all the games I’ve played yesterday The skull merchant is like knight 2.0 but more passive I guess.

This killer really succeeds with camping an area making sure the survivors 3 gen which is not very fun to go against nor does it seem fun to play.

Her power is pretty well designed I Guess but when a survivor is injured its pretty much useless so maybe there could be some improvements with that. Besides her camping abilities she doesn’t have much going for her honestly.

I haven’t gotten a chance to play her yet so maybe my thoughts on this will change but so far this chapter is a flop for me. Love the survivors though.

Key point is the 3 gen part. I just had a match with a 3 gen Merchant who was able to just spam place drones on the top floor of the Game map to see people on the bottom floor doing a gen. That match was over 30 mins long. Me and my fellow survivors just gave up because it became boring and a chore. This wasn't the only time either because I had a match with one earlier that also was over 30 mins (and yes I did time it). Its boring, dull, and uninteresting.

  • This is one achievement I'm never getting because I'm not buying anything from this chapter.

    What is a “3d scream”?

I'm guessing its directional so you can pinpoint the person screaming better?

  • BHVR does know we are joking when we say 'Nerf Pig' right?

  • I know BHVR will not change the survivor icons but I'll still put in my two cents. I don't like them. I have a ton of information now and the uncertainty of knowing if the killer is coming is just gone. It's made my matches boring.

  • Almost no game makes it to end game any more anyway.

  • Its the only thing I'm enjoying about this patch so far.

  • They changed Yui's Lunar racer head as well. Before on release she had no makeup on. Now she is covered in makeup. I hate it.

  • I just realized they moved my thread about this same issue into the Feedback forums.

as a killer if you pick a survivor up under a pallet just walk into the survivor that’s going to save, you will go over 50% of the way and it will count as a reverse pallet stun so it won’t actually stun you.

i did this as killer the game i just had, reverse pallet stuns should work whilst the killing is picking someone up. a pallet save is a pallet save.

Exactly my point. Even if the killer is facing away from you but is more towards your side then the stun is negated. Thanks BHVR.

I would have to test it. But going by what you're saying, it seems like the hitbox was overnerfed.

It might be worth recording a video with your friends and posting a bug report.

I might just do that later tonight. I just had a public match as well were it happened again.

  • @bjorksnas said:

Well yea survivors shouldn't be able to phase through a killers face while they are picking up a survivor and drop a pallet inside of them and get rewarded

I'm not talking about phasing through a killer. Imagine your behind the killer about to drop the pallet on them as they pick up the survivor. They are fully in the pallet but more towards your side. You can't pallet save.

  • @Boss said:

Yeah, this is written in the patch notes as an intende change.

I know but I don't think it's a good one. If the killer is dead center then you can't pallet save. If the killer is closer to you but fully under the pallet then you can't save. It pretty much negates pallet saves at all.

  • @SeannyD115 said:

I wonder if it's the same with flipflop and power struggle

I didn't even think to test that out.

  • @Wiggles_Diggles said:

I would think it to be considered a part of hit validation . If a survivor is between you and a pallet you shouldn't be stunned.

Not that I have a problem with hit validation it was a much needed addition.

I know it makes sense it's just another fun quirky thing that you could do in DBD.

  • I see him doing something with his chains. Maybe even a delay mechanic where you have to solve that puzzle box they have in order to do things? I don't know, I haven't seen Hellraiser in years.

  • Yeah I would like to see what everyone is talking about as well. What did they do?

  • I just wish the skins would change Victor.

An Alien skin would be cool for them. Have Victor bursting out of her chest like a mini face hugger.

  • As to your title that is what Adept use to be before they changed it. All you had to do was unlock all the teachables and you got adept. As for getting all of them early and it making the grind easier, it honestly wouldn't do that.

Its amazing how people love to complain about RPD map... I mean i heared everything like the map huge, the map is garbage, the map is this and that etc etc.. Those people are such a crying babys honestly. People the map is great, i played RE 2 and 3 Remake so the map is not confused to me or for those who is actually are a fan of Resident Evil games/movies. If you guys don t like the map just don t play it got dammit... People who are not fan or even if you didn t played RE Remakes or the old ones, you guys don t even have the Audacity to complain about the map because you guys didn t played or atleast didn t tryed to explore the map a little bit.. Sorry if i was a little rude but this kind of people just pissed me of...

I've played RE2 Remake and I still hate the map in DBD. Think about it this way: How long are you in RPD during RE2? The map is designed for you to fight zombies, lickers, Mr. X. To do puzzles and unlock rooms. Even to leave the area and come back multiple times. All great in the realm of RE. For a game like DBD....not so much. You have 4 survivors and one killer. Just one. It's like you start at a random place once you boot up RE2 and Mr. X comes bashing through the main hallway with zero time to learn anything. The map is way too big, way to small in corridor size, it's dark in some places. Its too much. They should have just split the map in two versions and went from there. You have the library side and the helicopter side. That would have made it better imo.

  • An actual circus map.

The thing is, EGC is a bad design by itself. And I know I will stand alone on this one, but I would love if the EGC was completely removed from the game and things returned to what they originally were.

It is ludicrous to think that it is even a necessary mechanic to begin with. I personally have never seen a game being held hostage by survivors, even on my most devastating defeats as killer before EGC was introduced. And even if the problem truly was as common as perceived to be, which I sincerely doubt, was it that difficult to come up with a different solution?

Perhaps making it a highly bannable offense and hire some people to deal with those specific reports, or something. Not adding a timer at the end of the game. It does nothing other than encouraging scummy tactics and rushed actions. 99%ing Gates is merely another consequence.

Yeah pretty sure you will be the only one feeling this way. EGC was great for the health of the game and is much easier then hiring a team of people to go through players reports. It adds pressure and an actual end game to the game.

As for the actual thread I don't think 99%ing the gates is a bad design oversight. The killer can open the gate at any time and trigger the EGC. Also as certain killers not fully opening the gate can work against you. Can't tell you how many times I got kills from trapping the 99ed gate lever and downing the survivors that ran to open it.

  • It's not the most wanted chapter but it is the most spotlighted in the past few months for some reason. My problem with it would be how would it work? Springtrap has no powers. He is just a corpse in a suit walking around. He doesn't even cause the hallucinations in FNAF 3. Only thing I could think of would be maybe a miasma that follows him around that would poison and cause the survivors to hallucinate?

  • It's a good map for Resident Evil but not for Dead by Daylight. In RE2 remake you spend a LOT of time in the RPD. Certain rooms and whole sections are blocked off until either a puzzle is completed or a different section of the game has been explored. Then you come back to the RPD and unlock that section. You have to face zombies, lickers, and Mr. X. RPD is meant to take hours to get through.

Dead by Daylight is only 4 people with 1 threat (the killer). While BHVR did lock the third floor and clock tower room they still included way more than they needed to of the map. What they should have done is make two versions of it. Have one RPD Map 1 focus on the main lobby and everything to the Library side. RPD Map 2 can focus on the main lobby and everything to the Crashed Helicopter side. This still gives a lot of room to move around and would force more interactions with the killer and survivors.

But hey that's just my two cents.

Serious question. Did you end the matchs as victor ? For some reason you need to be controlling Charlotte for it to count

Are you serious? I've been Victor everytime. I find it funny to run around as that little gremlin as the match ends. Well that explains that. Thank you.

And there is nothing you can do? Those 2 disconnected players were cause they were tunnelled by this killer who then was harassing us in a post match chat about how idiotic we are and how funny it was to troll it for us not getting points.

Like I don't really get it why you have to suffer from this.

And yet I'm having the opposite happen to me. Trying to farm as a killer. I find a survivor and spin in circles, hit random stuff, head nod, puke in spirals in the air. Survivors will tbag, do all the gens. then leave without letting me do a thing. Had many in chat cuss me out and praise themselves. So I'm not farming anymore. I tried to have fun but no thanks. Just going to play the game normally.

I didn't even get a crown for my survivor...

I was playing Yun-Jin by the way, an original character, and I didn't receive a crown?

    Gotta love this game.

Same for me! Playing Yun-Jin as well. Escaped with the crown but didn't get it. Has anyone gotten it?

  • 4 year vet as well. I play Pig and Trapper at rank 1 just fine. I have fun most matches. If your not having fun anymore then just take a break or play something else. Tons of games out there. DBD really hasn't changed gameplay wise at all. It's amazing its still going as strong as it is with us that play for months at a time.

And yet there is no perk to completely counter BBQ. Isn't that ironic? And these perks are nowhere on the level of power as BBQ.

Distortion counters it as well as Sole Survivor when it's at max. Off the Record counters it. Heck even getting into a locker or ducking behind a gen can counter it.

  • I wouldn't mind something that was made with the help of Junji Ito.

  • I like these changes and I consider the Twin's to be one of my top three favorite killers to play. Maybe this will keep people from dcing against them so often.

  • Pig: Movement speed while crouched is no longer slow. You move at the same speed as a Ghost Face when he crouches.

Trapper: All maps spawn the same amount of traps. Trapper starts with 2 by base.

  • @gendoss said:

Yeah they should get rid of the skill check zone and increase the skill check odds. Make it like skill check trigger odds are increased by 100%.

Just infinite skill checks over and over until they get off a gen?

  • Charlotte losses collision? The ability to body block certain places was a hidden talent of the twins. Why would they take that away?

  • Pig was my first P3 killer. After her was Trapper and then slowly every killer that has come out.

  • Legacy games. I wasn't a big fan of 8. If they did pick a killer from one of the newer games I wouldn't mind Mr. Baker.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

I have been opening chests more along with my teammates and survivors I play against this patch due to the better chest drops make them more worth while.

Its been rather fun and has in some cases made the game more dynamic because what the survivors have will change more often in game allowing more variety in each game.

I honestly would like to see this chest rarity increase stay baseline and plunderer's being changed to always make a green item or better drop from the first chest along with making it even more likely to get a green or above item from all chests.

Better chest drops? All my chests have been only giving me brown or yellow items even with an full item hunting build. Don't know what you are talking about.

  • I haven't even gone against him once since his release. I even saw the Twins a few times after they came out but Mr. K-pop man? Nope. I'm actually kinda sad about that since I didn't do the PTB and was looking forward to going against him in game.

Yeah, we're still stuck here; Identity V is janky as all #########, not helped by the mobile game controls, definitely not a replacement for the mess we're playing now. It's a shame because the charm and imagination of V far surpasses DbD by leagues, but the gameplay itself is awkward as hell. Also, for some reason the amount of face campers in that game far eclipses the amount in DbD...

So... yeah... DbD still has no viable competitor, so I guess we can all continue to enjoy our bugfest and £15 cosmetic skins.

Played Identity V back when it first came out and kept playing right until the jumping Lizard killer dude came out. The controls are wonky but you get use to them after a time. The main problem I had with the game was, as you pointed out, the face camping. Every game was a face camp and every rescue was an instant tunnel. The killer wasn't punished at all for camping and considering even when I left there was really no way to reset generator (cypher decoding progress) progression it was an unfortunate way to play. Good concepts for survivors and killers, fun 2v8 mode, but yeah. Vastly different game.

Side note also sucked that the one killer I did like playing in that game was unable to join 2v8 because of their power being to hard to work into that mode. :(

  • The main problem with the Twins (imo) is most people play them like dicks. They can camp hooks like no tomorrow and that is just the default play style a lot of people use for them. Even more so when they don't give them a chance. I stand by the Twins being a good pressure killer just DON'T HOOK CAMP. Actually go out and use the fact you are two people in one to your advantage. Plus Victor flies far for a little dude. Long range snipe people.

  • I have devotion level 18 about to be 19. I'm the highest of my friends :)

  • Was accused of hacking because I saw them go into a corner with BBQ and they never left.

  • I actually really like this killer. From his look to his power. I have been wanting a knife throwing killer for a while and having it be a crazy pop star that's flamboyant works just fine. I don't get all the hate for him other then the normal "It's a new killer there for we hate it."

  • I've enjoyed going against the Twins when the person playing them didn't play like a dick. They used Victor to make long range snipes and good use of his killer instinct to apply pressure to gens. They didn't slug or camp the hook with either or them or come back to the hook asap by just hiding around the corner.

The main problem with the Twins is that they are able to be used in a cheesy way that isn't fun for Survivors and a lot of players will just take the easy way out of camping with either Victor and his sister and then tunneling or slugging in order to try and snowball and go from there. The Twins can be a fun killer to play and play against but I just don't see a huge market of people trying to learn better ways of playing them because the other way is just simple and easy for most.

I will say that I love the Twins and when I do play them I play them in the style first mentioned without the camping. Victor can hit from SOOOO far away.

  • I like the way the animations are now. They actually feel smoother to me then they did before. My character reacts faster in my eyes instead of needing a moment to start up.

put Jason in the game please!

This has been asked for, and addressed, many many times. They can not add Jason to the game because he is currently held up in legal battles. This is why the Friday 13th game went under. They were unable to add more Jason content because of the lawsuits and were forced to cancel any promised content. BHVR can not get the rights to him even if they wanted to (and they have said they wanted to before in the past).

Plus Trapper is based off Jason anyway.

I thought they were guaranteed spawns? Ik the chemistry room is that's for sure.

No they are not guaranteed spawns. I've played Midwich many times and sometimes there is not gen in the chemistry room or the music room. It's random.

But anyway as others have pointed out this is an easter egg for the first Silent Hill game. In it Harry has to find two emblems (one in the music room and one in the chemistry room) and bring them to the school courtyard to move forward in the game. If you look at the clock tower in the school yard where the two god pallets are you will see two empty plaques on the wall of the structure. If a gen spawns and is done in the music room or the chemisty room an emblem will appear on that plaque. If both gens spawn and are done as part of the 5 needed to escape then when the doors are opened the door to the clock tower will open and that chest will appear.

  • Character animation changes: New standing animation makes no sense and is more creepy than most of the killers in the game. This is a game about being stalked and killed by horrible people/creatures yet the survivors stand straight up like lifeless dolls instead of being 'on alert'. It doesn't fit.

Crouching animation is nothing but the Pig's crouch.

New dying flop animation is unpleasant to the eyes. The camera jerking around to the floor is just disorienting and hurts your eyes after a while. The camera also likes to zoom in on the killers ass when they place you on the hook. Can we get the camera raised again?

UI: At 100% ui scale the perk icons and item icons are huge but the new character images/hook counter/bleedout timer/hook timer and score events are way to small. It is hard to see how much time a person has left on their bleed out or hook timer because of how small it is. Also the info of knowing when a dying survivor is being interacted with is gone.

Exhausted debuff is now a small red on light red circle. This is not only very colorblind unfriendly but just hard to see in general.

Score events being in the right top of the screen make no sense. If I am working on a gen or healing a person my eyes are in the middle of the screen. Old layout had the score right to the left of the progress bar so I could quickly see if I got a good or great skillcheck. Now I have to look all the way to the other side of the screen and sometimes the score is gone before I even get to looking at it. This is just a waste of time and information.

No need for items and item addons to be so big and spread out. The old way of having the icons on top of each other was just fine.

I liked having the name of the survivors at the bottom of the screen (User names of the people playing them). Now with them stuck in the left of the screen I get the joy of seeing CumTittySprinkles before anything else.

Did I mention the bleedout hook timers are way to small?

  • I really hope they revert this change. New UI is just way to spread out and small. I can't see hook timers and bleed out timers because they are so small. You use to be able to tell if someone was interacting with a downed survivor but that info is gone from the new UI. It just isn't an upgrade in any way but the hook counter and that is it.

I have some stuff to say about the new animations as well but I would be more tollerant of them if the old UI was back.

  • Ormond Resort when the snow starts to move, Mothers Dwelling for some reason, and the new Auto Haven maps.
