  • A perk-less Survivor is much stronger than a perk-less Killer, so they’d never be the same difficulty anyway :/

  • The most popular Killer released since 2019 is Deathslinger. Didn’t see that one coming actually

You're not necessarily wrong, but that's kind of a logical fallacy. Most people hate moldy food and Hitler, too.

The post was intentionally as vague as possible with no references or examples so people could project their own thoughts onto it without any role bias.

I hate facing Trapper, Legion, and Clown. Please tell me with a straight face they are strong.

I enjoy facing a Nurse, provided she doesn't Infectious slug at 5 gens vs solos. Please tell me she is weak.

I hate NOED, facing and using, but a lot of people will say it's not a strong perk.

I hate Hawkins and RPD for both sides, which are they therefore strong for?

I despise playing killer on Saloon and yet people regard it as killer sided.

Your logic has... a few holes in. No offence.

All logic has flaws (especially if you cherry-pick answers)

  • Switch cross progression is coming relatively soon as the cross progression website updated with references to it.

No updates at all on Playstation (probably will never happen) or Xbox (possible but unlikely atm).

Except that unlike the killers you listed, Trickster gets basically nothing. He will land a couple of knives, but if it is a strong loop, the survivor will be able to force decay/trickster to break the pallet. His power is worthless.

If you get three Knives and insta-break, you’ll be able to continue the chase without decay no problem they’re now halfway to losing a health state and they dropped a really strong pallet.

  • Ironically, Trickster is one of the Killers that doesn’t care as much about pallet pre-drops. When a Survivor drops a pallet they’re locked into an animation that gives you three free knives if you predict it correctly. A decent amount of Killers can get free hits if they predict a pallet drop correctly like Pyramid Head, Huntress, Legion, Deathslinger, Nemesis or Doctor.

Why do you guys think there’s such a discrepancy in the female to male character selection ratio?

I personally main Ace and Kate, they have all perks so I can have variety. However I know a lot of dudes who just play Claudette, Nea, Meg, etc… any ideas?

Short answer is that the female Survivors have smaller models (for stealth) and more variety of cosmetics.

Zarina and Yui each have over 50 cosmetics while Jeff and Adam have under 45 despite being around for much longer. Male Survivors just don't get as much love from the design team (probably because the Devs know they're less popular which just perpetuates the cycle)

Wasn’t the License renewed recently? I could be wrong though.

Things change quickly. Stranger Things cosmetics were released in June, which should have been a sign of a good relationship for the license, yet it was announced to be leaving in August.

  • Trickster is very much a risk/reward Killer. He can be borderline broken on the right maps (open maps) and right loops (low wall loops). But weak on the wrong maps (indoor maps) and wrong loops (high wall loops and jungle gyms).

Not sure why he wouldn’t be able to hit you while you were transitioning to injured. It’s not like you have I-Frames or anything.

  • I think people hate FNAF because its got a niche small fanbase (talking people who play the games not just like the art-style or watched a play-through in 2014).

FNAF is not “hall of fame of horror” status with millions of sales and its just an indie horror game series with questionable longevity. It’s a little bit insulting to compare FNAF to Left 4 Dead, Silent Hill and Resident Evil. It’s just not in the same category

I play him on console with a controller is why. Also those two aren't unplayable as I used to main them, only trickster is terrible with a controller.

That sounds like a console optimization problem not a Trickster problem then if you have the aim to play the other projectile Killer you shouldn't have issues doing well that are skill related. He does have more animation effects and the knives probably take more graphics power to render than the single shots of Huntress or Deathslinger.

Do you have any clips where you play him with a controller?

Why would anyone dream of playing an aim based Killer on controller? Seems like masochism.

Trickster, Huntress and Deathslinger are all probably unplayable on sub 60 fps on a machine from 2013.

Now you know good & well he's still trash, especially on console.

I play Trickster at Rank 1 on PC more than any other Killer at this point. No bait, no joke. He's pretty hecking good a lot of the Survivors in my games rage DC

Not at all. Second chance perks are anything that negates mistake the survivor made. So DH let's you evade a hit or dash to a pallet when you looped too long. Adrenaline gives you a free health state. BT gives you a temp health state for a risky unhook. Unbreakable gives you a free recovery after being downed. DS gives you a free escape if you get downed shortly after being unhooked and couldn't run the killer for even a few seconds. You get the idea.

So being extremely late on a vault isn't a mistake?

  • Self-Care can be used well to save a health state.

But Iron Will and Dead Hard can also be used well to save a health state.

And only one of those options takes 32 seconds

  • @Milo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/270995/why-open-handed-fails-and-what-it-could-be

The idea itself is good for a buff (and could use a restriction to like 16-32 meters), but it doesn't fix the problem you proposed yourself.

It doesn't do anything by itself.

    ---

And one thing that you could add to this would be reversed Bond. When within 4/12/20 meters other survivors see your aura. The meters are lower because of the 2nd effect which brings it up to Bond). And now with Bond and Open Handed survivors would see your aura and you would see their aura (at a limit of 36 meters).

It is stepping into Aftercare territory tho, so it would need something else to keep it unique...

I think the idea of a perk that showed your Aura to other Survivors within range for the entire game could be its own perk entirely.

  • Probably if Dead Hard gets nerfed due to Killer complaints. Don’t think I’d play if they did that

  • Trickster has good high rarity add-ons that can make him god tier, but guess what? So do the majority of Killers.

If the base kit still sucks, the rework is a massive fail. And he’ll need another one in the future

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/270201/vacuum-pallets-are-more-of-an-issue-than-hit-rejection

This annoyed me so much. Usually a survivor would wait at a pallet and I'd stop just in front, more often than not baiting them into dropping the pallet early and then I'd destroy it without being stunned. Can't use this strategy anymore as I would get stunned even if I was stood a few feet in front.

Yup. I try respecting pallets sometimes it doesn’t seem to matter anymore. It’s hard to play against because you have to do convincing fakes to get a pallet drop but the vacuuming means your risking stuns or respecting so hard the Survivor will easily call your bluff and greed for another loop.

My idea has always been to make Bouncing Blades basekit and make Main Event blades bounce 4 times instead of 2.

It would finally separate him from huntress/plague and make him a unique play as/play against experience.

I feel like bouncing blades Trickster would be painful to play against at this point. Especially with some of the nastier add-on combos.

Survivors would complain so much about being hit and downed around corners from spam.

  • Corrupt, Sloppy, Ruin and BBQ. I've experimented a lot but this build gets me the most wins at Rank 1.

It's pretty fun to use too because all the slowdown is automatic so you never have to waste time kicking gens or anything like that

  • I doubt they'll get a full rework. My guess is merely an addon pass.

Mechanically the twins are one of the more unique Killers and they're pretty strong as well. I don't see the motivation to change them much

  • @Kebek said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2392611#Comment_2392611

No no no no no, that would be so so so terrible to play against. He's got quite deadly chase power already, quite likely the most deadly when caught in the open out of all ranged killers.

If he were to become 115%, he would need serious changes, not just small number tweaks. If lethality of the knifes were kept (damage upon filling the meter), it'd have to go to like 12 knifes (with obviously carrying more, like 90) and scrapping of the decay completely and replacing it with "remove knifes" action for survivosr that have any laceration. Besides other less major changes ofc.

That would be about the only way I can see him going to 115% in a healthy way.

Ironically, that sounds like a much more balanced and viable Trickster

  • It’s also the handedness of his throws. He never throws directly in the center its either slightly right or slightly left... which gets worse and worse the farther the Survivor gets.

  • You’re not downing fast enough. You need your first down or at least multiple hits on Survivors within the first 30-40 seconds of the match.

  • I like it actually. All the ideas for perks are solid. The crouching Aura block perk should have its numbers tweaked to 5/4/3 though so it doesn’t waste tons of time.

  • So Dark Sense but worse. Reverse Lightborn aura reading. And Stake Out

  • Survivors are getting really petty.

I have a DC every other match just because I'm a Rank 1 that plays "unfun" Killers.

  • @Clowning said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2389831#Comment_2389831

Because you're throwing knives into walls half the time, due to poor aim and you're chasing survivors with your knives out for way too long, making them outrun you with ease.

Again, you make a good point and I agree he's definitely meant to be more of a spam character, but this really isn't a good way to show it.

It's not poor aim. It's his throwing pattern and the Survivors movement. He gets less and less accurate the farther away they are.

If you look at the first clip with the Feng. I landed the first six knives extremely accurately because she was close rnage and the second six had way less accuracy because of the distance she made, the spread and her movement (she's a Rank 1)

  • @Tricksters_Wife said:

I don't agree that he's a spam damage character even prior to the changes. Doing well with Trickster requires knowing what loops/areas of the map to use your knives, what loops to basic attack mindgame, and knowing what areas to simply avoid so you don't waste time. But I do agree that the knife amount decrease causes me to reload a lot more often which is a little more interruptive to my gameplay and tracking of survivors. Now I use reload time decrease and additional knives to help counter the time it takes for additional reloads. With these adds ons in combination with good power usage I can reload every 2 hooks maybe even 3 if I used main event or had really good downs with little to no missing of my knives. It's still worse compared to the almost always 3 hooks I could get before the changes before needing to reload but it's compensated with the maximum laceration buff. It just takes some time to get used to and more knowledge needed on what his weak/strong spots are in every map.

Doesn't sound like a very good buff if you're feeling forced to run specific add-ons to compensate for the heavy nerfs

  • @Clowning said:

I get the point you're trying to make, but this video really isn't a good way to make it.

How so? I'm just trying to show how much ammo he takes to get downs.

  • @DelsKibara said:

Pretty sure this change was to make Trickster more skill-based rather than just spamming knives.

Less knives but more pain for the Survivors.

I'm not going to say whether or not they did a good job on that, because I havne't tried it myself.

If they wanted to do that, they should have done something about his spread and right/left throw pattern so he could actually be accurate.

  • Honestly, I'd be happy with a revert and blades no longer decaying in chase at this point.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2387219#Comment_2387219

Trickster has 0 spread and his aim is faster than a survivor's ability to zig-zag. Besides, again, 60% accuracy is more than enough if you have Death Throes and Boa as you only need a 57% accuracy.

Have you played Trickster before? At Rank 1? Against Survivors that doesn't run in straight lines?

He is probably more similar to Plague than Huntress or Deathslinger. It's more spam/prediction than accuracy. He's not the most mechanically skilled Killer

  • @indieeden7 said:

They didn't change the throw speed bonus though. It was buffed to 33% for the PTB and then changed back to 25% (which it has always been on live servers).

They nerfed Fizz Spin as well which was the second best addon and increased his throwing speed

  • @Predated said:

You're forgetting that Death Throes fully refills Trickster's ammo after each main event, and in quite a lot of cases, it's faster to quickly use main event and cancel it than to walk to a locker and refill.

Let alone that 60 knives with Death Throes only needs a 50% accuracy(44% accuracy if you had the +8 knives addon) to basically slug 2 people, use main event to slug the 3rd person and then hunt down the 4th, with essentially infinite uses every match. 44 knives still makes that scenario possible, but instead requires a 68% accuracy(57% with the +8 knives addon) to pull of the same thing, which still has essentially infinite use every match. Meaning you can start trying to mass slug again, and again, and again, and again, making it easier everytime because there is no way survivors will have time to pick each other up and fully heal.

You gotta take ALL addons into consideration, not just the addons you tend to play most.

You really shouldn't say Trickster and accurate in the same sentence. His spread is so horrible he only gets like 60% accuracy at point blank if the Survivor is spinning and zig-zagging like crazy

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/268677/trickster-buff

Ok ....? You're not going to like facing every killer and he NEEDED buffs. So

All I read from this is "nooooo trickster isn't a free escape now"

He's definitely still a free escape lol.

The laceration decay is so bad now that he's unplayable on indoor maps.

  • @WeenieDog said:

I hate to say it, but I kind of like old trickster better but my complaint is more so how you can use the power. Though, long range shots weren't that great, you could still use them to build stacks on distance survivor and then close in on them to top it off.

I think it's a net buff, but by how much, I'm not sure. I understand why they did it. -2 knives is huge, so they took away his ability to build and maintain laceration stacks with throw rate and laceration decay.

IMO, Base trickster is better, but his dependency on maps hasn't changed and will struggle on maps with lots of high tiles. On the flip side, favorable map generation (even on some average map generation) and the -2 stacks makes the 100 - 0 knife combo a lot easier to do.

It's like a give and take on extreme ends.

Not quite. On Trickster's best maps, the extra blade is almost irrelevant cause the Survivor was going down regardless it maybe just saves a few seconds. On Trickster's worst maps, the laceration decay is so bad there's no point in attempting his power anymore.

  • @NomiNomad said:

This is under the assumption that said Trickster would hit every single knife he throws. This is still a substantial buff to his 1v1, and nobody can change my mind about that when he can over half of the knives he needs in a single vault animation.

Can we stop whining for like half an hour? Wait until people can actually play with the killer?

Trickster's spread and his handedness with his throws mean that its impossible to land all his knives because he isn't accurate except maybe at point blank range. Especially in high ranks where Survivors know this and alter their movement to counter his throw patterns (i.e. zig zagging in rhythm with his left and right handed throws).

  • @DelsKibara said:

Let's wait until we see how he plays in Live.

Keep in mind that he still has 6 lacerations before an injury and without any slowdown between his throws.

Let's not get a kneejerk reaction here. Since admittedly his performance in the PTB was insane.

PTB Trickster was crazy on the maps Live Trickster was crazy on (Autohaven and MacMillian)

But I noticed on Lerys (which was already a horrible Trickster map) that the blade decay actually hurt more than the extra knives helped.

  • @bjorksnas said:

Its gone from 8.5 damage states worth of knives to 7.33 damage states worth of knives, its not really that bad

Actually it was 10 damage states (a buff compared to Live) to 7.33 (a nerf compared to Live).

  • Personally, I don’t lose at Red Ranks unless I’m limiting myself either by testing new builds or playing weaker Killers.

Even the sweatiest SWF is only walking out with 1-2 escapes when I’m at my best and if that happens its due to me playing sloppy and making misplays.

Actually, I'm fine with Survivors having good perks, but when they Dead Head for Distance, costing me a hit, that can potentially spell a 0K right there for me, simply due to the nature of the game at this point. Gens fly too fast to waste an extra 20+ seconds dancing around pallets.

You’re acting like there was a chance for you to get the hit and you were entitled to it.

It’s the same logic as a Killer getting mad that they swung at someone who was holding Sprint Burst. They weren’t getting that hit regardless
