Pre dropping pallets on healthy state
These kind of games are really far few and between but occasionally I'll go against survivors playing trickster and the whole team just pre drops pallets on healthy states. Its super effective because I obviously can't keep pressure if I commit to the chases and the other 3 are just smashing gens. How do you counter this kind of play?

Ironically, Trickster is one of the Killers that doesn’t care as much about pallet pre-drops. When a Survivor drops a pallet they’re locked into an animation that gives you three free knives if you predict it correctly. A decent amount of Killers can get free hits if they predict a pallet drop correctly like Pyramid Head, Huntress, Legion, Deathslinger, Nemesis or Doctor.
Yea but that game was just perfect, they dropped on loops that had high walls and before chases really began so I couldn't punish with at least 3-4 knives during drop animation. The more I think about it I guess it was just shite gameplay on my end. I just don't like to whip knives out as soon as I see people at the start of chases.
Except that unlike the killers you listed, Trickster gets basically nothing. He will land a couple of knives, but if it is a strong loop, the survivor will be able to force decay/trickster to break the pallet. His power is worthless.
If you get three Knives and insta-break, you’ll be able to continue the chase without decay no problem they’re now halfway to losing a health state and they dropped a really strong pallet.
You get a better gaming chair.
Yeah, I wish I had something better to say but no. If survivors are capable of pushing out gens so fast that they can afford to waste rescourses, you can only hope they mess up, create a deadzone at an important place or get downed anyway.
The best you can do is play as dirty as possible, not showing any mercy. Otherwise you'll be on a backfoot and likely lose fast.
There are a few things you can do, but it remains to be the most boring and unfun strategy in the game, which can hardly be called a strategy.
Pre-dropping should disappear and be replaced with the good ole' conventional looping. Period.
No, pre-dropping pallets is not gonna get nerfed. Holding W neither.
One of the most valuable things a killer needs to learn is when to give up on a chase. If you get even the slightest feeling that this chase is gonna take a while just to get a single health state, just walk away, especially when they pre drop the pallet against certain killers. You can always break the pallet later when not in chase, and that only becomes an issue when you come across a survivor running Any Means Necessary, which is rare
Nerfing Pre-dropping was never brought up in this post, great contribution.
Are people actually complaining about pre dropping pallets? This is the preference for pretty much all killers. Doc and Clown are the only ones I can think of that might have reasons not to like it, but they can just smash through and continue on just like every other killer would.
Again no one is complaining here, just simply looking for ways to counter it if you actually read the actual post.
Or play deathslinger or Huntress and get a guaranteed health state, faster.
I've had people pre-dropping against Victor, kinda annoying even when Charlotte is a good 10 seconds away. Makes me want to bring iridescent pins and just let you kick an idol victor and i'll come smack you with Charlotte while your exposed.
The only real counter is to play a killer that counters it with their power. Huntress, Nurse, Spirit for example. Some dropped pallets can be dealt with by Deathslinger or Trickster, but if it’s a long-ish high wall loop, probably not.
If you’re playing an M1 killer you can’t do a lot except be really efficient - zone them by breaking it on the better side, don’t commit for too long, try and create dead zones and push the survivors into them.
Good.
If it's a constant/medium issue for you as Trickster, your only real recourse is to sacrifice a perk in your build for Brutal Strength (and Fire-Up if you want to get crazy) and eat through as many pallets as you can before mid-late game.
As mentioned before, the pallet animation gives you some free knives, but if you're off their screen/at a high wall, it's a moot point.
BS (w or w/o FU) helps alleviate some of this and put you back in LoS before decay begins if you're able to keep up with the survivor from pallet to pallet (assuming you've landed some knives during the chase - If you haven't, you may just want to break 1-2 pallets as they are dropped and move on).
Depending on the map state/tile, you may want to try forcing the survivor to reverse their looping/pathing direction before breaking certain pallets to push them back into 'used' zones. If you are able to find success with either of these (you may not be able to depending on the ma/map state), they will also allow you to provide additional pressure from easier hooks, as well, as you'll be winning chases faster and have additional opportunities to patrol/thwart the rescue.
It's also worth noting that certain breakable walls should be insta-broke as you encounter them to other unsightly scenarios for Trickster - BS helps with this as well.
From a survivor perspective, it makes sense to pre-drop vs him as there is no downside to taking less than max laceration and laceration may decrease more reliably when you have to break/have no clear angles/walls are high, etc.
Survivors want to delay knife hits as much as possible due to the laceration mechanic - Placing an immovable (barring breaking) obstacle between you is a smart play.
You must be a sad individual.
Genuinely, the counter is higher tier killers. The reason mid tier and low killers are weak is precisely because they only go as far as the survivor skill/game management.
Whatever your thoughts about competitive DbD may be, there's a reason players on M1 killers often opt for minimal slowdown in favor of chase perks. Slowdown is only effective if the killer is generating pressure, and many killers on this roster generate zero pressure vs good survivor play.
Bamboozle/Brutal Strength can be effective tools to zone and force pallets early. You'll create deadzones quickly. But the reality is the map sizes and strong tile counts are based on the assumption that *someone* will be taking unnecessary hits/downs. And if that doesn't happen, a lot of the killers struggle.
Nurse helps.
Nice try.
If you can't mindgame it, break it
This is the intended gameplay
