Yeah they were most likely on comms. Dedicated sabo squads are annoying but afterwards i chuckle. When the game first came out a sabotaged hook would never come back. All you can really do is slug or hope you are running agitation and iron grasp. Mad grit is fun in those situations also, but considering how rare a full sabo squad is, its just better to play normal and slug everyone.

Only one i ever get on xbox is after game ends i get disconnected from host. And it throws me back to main menu.

Sales tend to always happen near event times. Since we had halloween, Christmas/New year and then lunar so at this time of year it can seem to be happening more than usual.
Numerous times a year the game and everything to do with it does go on a sale.
Was about to say just that.
Although if we end up with like Canadian boxer day sales, then i would say they were having problems selling skins lol

Game hasn't started yet. I know lobby simulator is a boring hobby but no one loses anything game wise if someone dodges.
I will be honest here. I dodge 4 matching blendettes. Sorry. Not my thing.
But I've disconnected 1 time as survvior and it was because the game was unplayable due to connection. To be fair i should have searched a new lobby then.
-
Ive been saying remove the leave match button since i started playing this game. That being said, there are people who DC for legitimate reasons like connection or real world emergencies. Those people will not be affected by a DC punishment because they won't be doing it frequently.
Its the people that DC on first down, or because of a map, or killer or whatever. Those people it will affect.

They can afford to buy Apple stuff for everyone of their 500 workers (look at their Instagram). I don't think they worry about bills.
500 people at behavior, roughly 50 for DBD. As far as apple products, although I have a strong distaste for them, they are arguably the best. Not to mention businesses, can and will get some kind of deal when purchasing bulk.

I just think the reason why we have to have this conversation in the first place is because of their prices. Everyone knows that businesses need to be able to turn a profit, but at the same time things need to be reasonably priced.
One outfit in the game is, virtually, $10. And with all there is to be able to buy with both Killer and Survivor, it's a rip-off.
I feel like the Rift Pass is worth the $10, but not single individual outfits.
I wont argue i think those prices are high. I myself have only purchased 4 complete outfits with 3 of them coming from gift money. I mean i just couldn't resist santa clown and dwelf.
But heres the thing. Its up to a seller to set prices for their product. Its up to the consumer to decide if the prices are fair. There is obviously enough people purchasing cosmetics to tell the developers that they are charging a fair market value. You may not like it but enough people do. Just as an experimental example. Behavior says we need x amount of profit. Cote and rest of team running dbd say ok we need x amount of profit of which y amount of that profit must come from cosmetics.
Lets say y equals 1000 dollars. Full outfits are roughly 10 bucks. That means they have to sell 100 outfits to make their goal. Now lets say they want to get more people buying so they cut back to 9 dollars an outfit. That's a 10% cut. Now those 100 outfits they sell only makes them 900 dollars. They need to see another 11.1 outfits to make up the difference. So in this example they cut prices by 10% but need 11% more sales to make up for the loss
I'm rambling but the 10 dollar prics

I wouldn't expect anything to be free, but $10 for a cosmetic is excessive/expensive. I've said before that they shouldn't be more than $3 each. I can buy real clothes for less that amount.
My goal wasn't to provide a detailed analysis of what was or wasn't expensive. 10 dollars to a 12 year old is much different then 10 dollars to a 30 year old most of the time. (Not calling you 12 years old)
My point of this thread is that people here seem to think making money is a bad thing for the company. Calling then greedy. And while i understand that there are definitley things that need prioritizing before more dlc in my opinion, that doesn't automatically make them evil for releasing more things to make revenue to stay in business.
Theres a line between art for arts sake and art for business sake. While the developers I have no doubt love this game at the end of the day, they are a business. And for a business profit is the objective.

How did you learn? Were you put off by the learning curve? I wasn't. Have some faith in your friend to be able to deal with some adversity.
Like someone said, do some kill your friend games. But play as someone that can do jump scares. Make it fun while letting him get the feel for the game.

Peanits commented on this in another thread. Its not a priority as for mobile, lost signal happens frequently so bots are needed more there.

I agree. Adulting is hard!
-
@Peanits said:
Just to clarify a few things, because I'm guessing this is probably going to be a hot topic for a while:
- Mobile and core are two different projects with two different teams.
- Mobile is currently in beta, so there's a lot more freedom to try out new features.
- With mobile being, well, mobile, a lot of people may lose connection unintentionally (lost reception on the go, for example). On core, disconnections are typically someone choosing to disconnect. As a result, punishing people on mobile for unintentional disconnects wouldn't make a lot of sense, and replacing people with bots on core wouldn't discourage people from disconnecting in the first place.
None of that means that the main version of DBD will never get bots. We are still under the same roof and we do share with each other. However, it's not a priority at the moment since we're looking to solve different issues.
Thank you for this early and good explanation!

Sheep, whales, dolphins and cows. That's what many companies actually call some of their players.
If you have never seen the "Let's go whaling" video (which by the way, "whale" is a term many companies call their biggest spending players), I highly suggest you do. It's very enlightening on what kind of tactics companies use to try manipulate players into spending money:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNjI03CGkb4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNjI03CGkb4
And for clarification, this conference was for companies to learn how to milk their players for cash.
Very familiar with the term whale. Never knew where it came from though. Will watch the video when i get home and have a chance to sit down with it.
Thank you for posting it.
Spoilers? Does it seem like behavior learned anything from this video?

- There's a difference between creating incentives, and being manipulative. They can be confused as the same thing. The Rift being cheaper is an incentive. Time locking the goods and making them have to pay for the Rift to then go through a grind that's specifically designed to take a very long time because it's filled with filler content, just so they can get the thing they paid for, is manipulative. I'm sorry you don't "agree" on the definition, but what or what isn't the definition of manipulative isn't a matter of opinion. It's a matter of fact. Manipulation is defines as: "characterized by unscrupulous control of a situation or person." Which is exactly what BHVR has done with the Rift.
- As mentioned, there are items in the Rift will be gone forever. It also doesn't cost just 10 bucks. It costs 10 bucks, and dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of hours. Time may not be material, but it is valuable regardless. The more time you spend in a game, the more invested you become. That makes you more willing to make more purchases in the game, and more unwilling to part with it. That's basic live service 101.
- No one is forcing you to buy, but it is heavily encouraged and advertised throughout the game everywhere. It's like saying "Nobody is forcing you to buy the thing" while it's spuriously being thrust into your face every few minutes while at the same time reminding you all of the things you're missing out on because you haven't bought it. Struggling to finish the previous battle pass was such a grind that I've played the game a total of 5 hours since I completed it. It burnt me out that badly. I was also not the only one who agrees that the amount of time required was way too high. Again, remember that we had an extra 11 day headstart on the first battle pass. We do not have such a blessing on this one and they did nothing at all to alleviate the grind.
- Correction: If you play a lot you will complete it. Nobody is forcing you to buy tiers, but they are manipulating you to buy tiers so you don't miss out. Forcing someone to do something and manipulating you to do something are two different things. While they are two ways to get someone to do something they may not otherwise do, they are not mutually exclusive with each other. You still have the time to play the game to do the rift. Plenty of other people don't. And I will bet money that you will never ever be able to 100% complete the rift every single time. Sooner or later, life is going to happen, and you will need to miss a week or two, and then what do you know, you're going to miss out. Unless you buy tiers, of course.
- What about a new player that just joined a few weeks or even a month ago? They don't have enough shards to get the DLCs for free. That newbie just bought the rift pass because there's a cosmetic they really want and quite possibly doesn't even know better or they just joined halfway through the battle pass -- but then they find out to complete a certain set of challenges, they have to have not just one, but two DLCs. Maybe they can only buy one with shards, so then they have to shell out the money for the other one -- The point is that it is never so black and white as you're trying to make it. Maybe it's not even a newbie. Maybe it's a veteran player who already spent their shards, because they're a survivor main and had no intention of playing either Doctor, or Spirit or both -- Not everybody who plays the game has a stock of 40,000 shards just sitting around to just get DLCs with for free.
I'm not asking you to dislike the battle pass. I'm only stating my reasons for disliking it and why I will not support BHVR with any money anymore because the battle pass IS manipulative BY DESIGN. You can disagree with the "definition" if you'd like or even how much they are manipulating people, but either way, I don't agree with it. I will not support it. Only thing that will change my mind is if they made the game free to play which then I would add some leniency to it, or they get rid of it. I have zero tolerance for that kind of stuff. The more people there are that support it and encourage it, the more the gaming industry will do it and I would rather sit out entirely than be a part of that.
You make good points. And i do see what you are saying however
1) You do not have to purchase before the grind. You have the option to finish the rift before you spend a dime. And to be fair in my opinion the best cosmetic in the rift is on the free track anyway. If i finish the rift, then i will buy the pass. If not, i dont feel forced to buy it. Unscrupulous means having no moral principle not honest or fair. Barring the statement that you could complete the rift by playing an hour a day, a statement which they walked back and corrected themselves with, there is nothing immoral in the set up of the rift. Play the game earn rewards. Pretty straightforward.
2) Correct. The rift requires you to play the game. If you are someone that likes to play alot then you will be more encouraged to complete the rift. If you don't play alot then the rift isn't for you and you will have to wait on obtaining cosmetics you want. Time is a valuable resource. It's up to the individual to determine how they want to spend that resource. The rift is there for people who want to play and use their time. Buying tiers is there for those who value time over money. No one is putting a gun to anyones head and saying you HAVE to grind this out.
3)The whole updating the progress everytime you switch a screen is obnoxious and i will absolutely agree with you on this one.
4)As someone with a life outside this game i fully understand that i will never be able to complete every single rift. And i am ok with that. There are 0 items in the rift that have any bearing on gameplay. Nothing there to change anything about how i play. If i miss out i miss out and i am absolutely fine with that. I get some people aren't. But ultimately, in any buyer/seller system, it is the job of the consumer to know what you are getting. Its up to the consumer to decide what to buy and when to buy. If they said you could complete the rift in 70 hours and you had to buy the premium track before you could progress along then yes that would be competely screwed up. Its like buying a used car and the seller says, transmissions bad and you buy it and then have to take it to the shop. Thats on you. Not the seller.
5)Again it's consumers job to know what they are getting. Behavior isnt hiding anything. As far as rift goes. The challenges don't dictate whether you complete the rift. They are seperate things. Yes the challenges make it easier but still doable without. You can still complete the tome levels without completing the dlc challenges. Which is another good move on behaviors part. If they locked challenges behind dlc only challenges then that would be unscrupulous in my opinion.
This is too long. People see things different. We obviously have different opinions on the game and company. We may have to agree to disagree. But i really think the rift and challenges are there to try to keep people playing. Give them something to work towards. I think the challenges would be great even without the rift. Hell they may be better.
Really though, what you see as unadulterated greed i see as mostly fair business practices.

Actually for a lot of the cosmetics, you do have to buy the Rift, or you don't get them. Especially charms.
Even for cosmetics that won't be locked exclusively to the Rift, all of the cosmetics in the Rift are time-gated by the Rift. They won't appear for 6 months after the Rift ends in the store -- meaning if you see a cosmetic you want at the start of the Rift, you have to wait a whopping 8 months to even have the option to buy them in the store like normal.
I'm sorry -- that just screams manipulative to me. If I had the option to just ignore the rift via going to the store, and just purchasing the item I liked, I and many others couldn't care less. There is no such option. And the Rift killed the events we used to have to boot. Those free cosmetics we used to get now and then with the events are all shoved into the Rift now, meaning if I want those cosmetics, I have to care about the Rift. And oh look, I'm tier 38, maybe I should just pay the $10 to unlock all the other stuff too.
Let's not forget the fact there's the ability to just buy tiers for the rift, which is another manipulative tactic considering it takes the average player over 200 hours to even complete the rift, even if they're doing a vast majority of all of the challenges. Something that now requires the DLCs to do. Even with completing all of the challenges, and playing 3~4 hours everyday with an *11 day headstart* on the previous Rift, I still barely made it to tier 70 (I didn't buy it, by the way).
That's manipulative and I don't agree with it. So I refuse to spend a penny on the game further. I will not support a company that is actively and willingly manipulating their fan base. If they wanted to actually be fair and make it completely optional and not manipulate people while still adding a battle pass, there's a bunch of ways they could have done so.
What you see as manipulative i see as logical.
1)You want people to purchase your new product (rift) so you create incentives to get them to do so. (Theres a whole industry built around this called advertising. Yes thats a manipulative industry. However in this case there is timelocked cosmetics involved.)
2) Cosmetics in rift are locked from store for 6-8 months. And? If they were never to be seen again then i may consider that manipulative. Instead they are offering a bunch of items at a significant discount. One outfit costs 10 bucks. The rift costs 10 bucks....once.
3) One time buy in. If you want to devote time in playing and completeing rift then you buy it and have enough rewarded cells to do it again the next rift. No one is forcing you to buy.
4)Again, if you play, you will complete it. No not everyone will be able to complete the whole thing. I did. The first time and am on track to do it again this time. Despite not playing everyday. And being married with kids and a full time job. If the option to buy tiers wasn't there the outcry would be the same. And no one is forcing anyone to buy the tiers
5)The dlc characters can all be purchased with shards. Yes you have to play the game to get the shards but arent we playing this game? Also the rift doesnt require the dlc to complete. It just takes a little more grinding. I will agree with you if they force us to use licensed characters to complete the challenge.
Ultimately i dont agree with you on your definition of manipulative. And that's fine.
I will say that for the health of the game they really need to fix things more than throwing bandaids on them. But it's a catch-22. They need to hit revenue goals to stay afloat which means more programming and more bugs, which means more revenue for programming to fix bugs, which means more money needed which means more bugs and so on. It would be amazing if they went to 3 dlcs a year for a little while. Just for health reasons

That doesn't mean I have to agree with them doing manipulative and scummy business practices and monetization schemes though, such as the battle pass.
You bring up battlepass but like i said, its a 1 time buy in that you dont HAVE to purchase. We can disagree with what we consider scummy, but to me the rift is fair.

I hate these kind of posts where people ask other people to understand something that they do not understand.
BHVR doesn't have 50 employees, they are almost at 600, check their own website. DBD is not the only source of income they do have available. Furthermore the devs probably do not make the prices for dlc, the game itself or even the cosmetic articles in the shop as this is not what they are paid to do. At least I would be quite surprised to have some coder make decisions about marketing and calculating their cashflow.
I would be shocked if they do not have a few people in marketing and so forth but hey in your world, DBD has to make up for everything. Sure why invest in anything with the profit made? By investing I mean other gains to obtain income stocks for example and other assets.
Beauchamp-Daniel is probably the person making the decisions (might be outdated idk) regarding deadlines and so on ofc with input from people such as Coté and the devs at least that is how it should be imo. When DBD doesn't make a profit anymore BHVR will either stop the project or switch persons who are in charge.
An example why they should aspire to other levels of quality would be ofc the infamous CDPR, they did show DLC can be free, quality over quantiy. Sure there is crunch for the people involved and so on but I doubt that this is diffrent to most companies.
Im not an expert at business, and all my numbers were approximates. And yes behavior is more than just DBD. But the division of behavior that is responsible for DBD is given a budget and sales goal im assuming. There job is to create a product that generates a certain income number. Like you said, its highly unlikely that @peanits and almo are sitting in management meetings deciding sales numbers and pricing, which just kind of reinforces my point. The devs are given a sales goal and are tasked with keeping the game alive long enough to meet that goal. Aa far as investing, i dont have an opinion other than behavior is investing money into DBD in hopes of increasing return on that investment. Should DBD stop being profitable they will most likely shutter the project. Same conclusion as if DBD was it's own business.
@Bingbongbong said:
I doubt anyone is questioning weather a business should make money.
It's more so about how much is too much in terms of monetization on an already pay to play game. We'll never know the numbers but let's not pretend that DBD isn't an insanely popular game that's done very well for itself.
Quite well is a relative term. It has a decent following but maxes out at ~30k users a month on steam if i remember correctly. Also who decides how much money is too much money to make? Consumers do. There's no law that says 5% profit is all a company is allowed to have. Nor 10%. Nor 50%. Theres no shame in a business trying to make money. As long as consuners are willing to pay for the service. Not to mention most of the dlc offerings require zero monetary investment.
Compare that with say, call of duty? Where a dlc comes out and you get nothing from that unless you buy it.

If you are that frustrated maybe take a break from the game. This is supposed to be enjoyable. A little stressful but still enjoyable.

You sure he couldn't catch you? Or was the Doctor just screwing around letting you build up a false sense of security for the final round?
Thats what i was thinking. Anytime i use rancor, i avoid the obsession when there's another option.
Not to mention OP was unlucky enough that no one had DS that got used to shift obsession.
Rancor is fine as a perk. Even if it did need a little change, which it doesn't, there are about 100 things that need changing more.
-
While i think noed is fine, its a powerful perk that can be totally removed from the game before it has any effect on the game, i think there is a small change that might make it less "unfair"
Make it a token perk, where like bbq, you gain a token for each different survivor hooked. When noed activates you have instadowns for however many tokens you have.
While i dont think it needs it, that change would be ok for me
-
I know this just kinda proves how common some of these items are but the point is if killers really wanted to make life miserable for survivors, they really really could.
-
My thoughts on reworked Bubba
He'll be able to chainsaw parts of the walls down to increase his chase potential
His chainsaw will have a cooldown but his movement will increase while charging
He'll no longer be able to hit multiple survivors, that or speed limiter base and addons needed for insta down
And maybe he'll get more survivor masks.
Just theories maybe some of them will go through
-
Day of the dead Julie.
No build as i havent take the time to get good with her yet.

@Runcore said:
Im expecting BHVR to investigate ingame abusive language reports, thats why reports button are there and not creating tickets after every game because survivors cannot behave properly. If they see report for abusive language, they can read post game chat and take action without need of further tickets. I think that its easiest of all report types, just open chat history and take immediate action. And I recommend take action for every verbal abusing, not tolerate even "smack talk". Game is Pegi 18 so I expect that these ppl are mature enough to not talk like animals. And if some kids cannot hold their tongue, get ban and accept punisment. Easy.
I would say the support ticket thing is in place to avoid overuse of reporting feature. I mean you get out of a match and say something like thanks for farming me (colorful insult of choice) and move on. Is that abusive? By definition yes. But like you said if you cant take a nasty word or two now and then, then how did you make it to 18+?
Now stuff like OP said, intentional directed harassment and death threats sure ban them permanently first report.
Moral of the story, if you are so offended and hurt then filling out a support ticket shouldn't be a big deal, but reporting everything on a knee-jerk reaction isn't the way to go either.

@kamisen said:
@Flatskull I agree. Being the obsession does not alter the game in any way. With the new mechanic where the role can be juggled between survivors, it would be interesting to add some kind of debuff to the obsession..
OoO should definitely be limited and have a cooldown. This also limits the drawback from going against stealthy killers with the perk equipped. I really like your suggestion @csandman1977. You can essentially take a snapshot of the killer at will, but with the drawback of notifying the killer.
I have to disagree about obsession not altering the game in any way. Unless you are strictly speaking to survivor side. As killer, one obsession, whether from a perk you bring or survivor, changes how you play. Puts the fear of DS in the back of your mind all game. Yes you can fear rancor, but with 1 generator done you can rule that out.

No the house with the 2 staircases. Not the boiler room basement. The one by the garage. Sorry I don't know all my technologies. I play solo

Got og badham twice last night. Both times window open near that basement generator. That loop is rediculous.
Of course i also got temple of purgation twice too. It was a bad killer night lol.

Are there plans to fix the grabs? Many times even on xbox, grab animation starts but survivor runs away without even being hit. Since it's xbox too its not a dedicated server issue.
-
Mr puddles!!!!!
-
What if you can see the aura for 1-2 seconds and there's a 30 second cooldown?
When you can see the killers aura, the killer gets a notification like legions Killer instinct.
-
My favorite perk in the game. Yes it rarely comes into play. But the potential is there and is the absolute best 'genrush'.....objective driven! counter perks in the game
-
As survivor, dwelf usually gets me killed. No christmas spirit amongst our killers.
As killer, i dont purposely tunnel but if I'm running around and i find you I'll slug you. Only exception is when i notice OoO. I can't help it, that person needs to go even if it means throwing the game. Its a mental deficiency and i acknoledge that.
-
To be fair, i dont consider camping toxic at anypoint really. Unfun? Yes. But with the amount of times survivors throw themselves at the killer to get the unhook, sometimes camping is just a great strategy
-
Maps. Instead of reducing map size which like devs have stated reduces variables. Increase the base speed of all survivors and killers so they can get around thevmap faster. Either make small maps bigger, or have different speeds depending on map size.
-
Im doing it for survivor perks and add ons on xbox. Not counting my own survivor games.

I think they should do that with the tomes. Give an extra incentive to complete them. Then that would generate hype with these kinds of next killer discussions.

I mean, if you want to mind game, either dont spam his snares or use pallets. I find pallets more fun to be honest.

So only survivors should be able to DC, for whatever reason they want, as 4 other people still get to play. Makes sense

I use TT when i cant find bbq in my bloodwebs. I've never tried it with ruin but the pause in regression is crappy. As often as ive gone against it, TT hasnt looked like its hindered me at all. At least the ruin regression would make it useful.

-
Why not customizable shapes like overwatch stickers?
-
Against a ghostface on Thomson house. He downed someone and just tbagged spinning in circles. Only time he moved was when someone else got to close.
We finished gens and guy in floor bled out. Opened gates and left.
Asked killer why?
He said, he was asked to farm. He doesn't farm. I said ok.
So strange
-
Had a killer game i loaded into as huntress. In lobby had 3 flashlights and a toolbox. Switched to leatherface for the tier 3 Franklin's. Got coldwind and cried a little inside. Made it a point to basic attack first and then chainsaw just to be more annoying. 4 gens popped before i got my 3rd devour hope stack. They werent expecting it after running me around all game with impunity. They ran into hook being super altruistic and had 3 hooked in about 15 seconds. Found the last guy as he took out my devour hope. Ended up with a 4k and zero flashlight saves.
Sent a GG but got nothing back. I tried to be nice lol.
-
Hands down teammates. The hard tunneling killer or face camping bubba are few and far between for my games. Rank 5-6 at the moment.
Hook swapping on first hook, farming without BT, allergies to generators.
I don't expect to escape every game, but I'd like help doing gens and maybe not farmed too much
-
Im currently doing this as killer on xbox. Was going for 100 games but may do a 50 report and then a 100.
Trying to do it before next chapter. I dont play much though.

There you go.
And yes, more community cosmetics.....
I'd also like to see the newer streamers get their own cosmetics for a new charity pack.
Definitly! Im down for charity skins. As long as panda gets something!

As long as those people get paid, way too many artists get paid in "exposure" already....

Op is lucky. It used to be MM would match you with the lowest ranked person in a group. So youd have 3 red and a rank 18 at rank 16.
I complained about matchmaking on the forums and was told to git gud.
SOME people who play this game and frequent these forums are absolute trash.
MOST of them are decent human beings. Its just the squeeky wheels get the most attention.
Any time i got hateful messeges on xbox i ignored them or made some comment about their mommies being so proud of them.
They usually never said anything back.
One guy said i was a trash killer because i killed him when he was on a alternate account without his crutch perks.
I told him, I do suck but you still died.
Moral of the story, beginner killer is a pain in the arse. It's an absolute blast when you are matched against people at least near your skill level. Just ignore messeges or have fun with the replies. Also, pick someone every match to send a gg to. Spread some happiness around.
