Hi all,
Looking for some real advice. I'm not looking for 'how to loop' but something a little more difficult, for me.
I let the killer get too close before chases. I believe it's a perception problem on my part but I'm not sure how to handle it.
I can tell the killer is approaching. Terror radius or whatever it might be. I'm playing on PS4 and I got the PS Platinum headset assuming it would work well because Sony is weirdly proprietary with their stuff. I'm assuming that the directional nature of the headset works well enough. But the thing is, terror radius isn't directional, right?
How do you know where the killer is or how far away? I'll start to run and then... run right into the killer. But I never saw the killer to make a decision which way to run, if that makes sense.
I try to watch where auras are, when I can see them, and perks like ALert help me a lot. I also have used Spine Chill on and off but I really feel that this is something I need to develop without relying on perks.
So you feel the killer might be approaching and maybe you can't see around you in every direction. How do you ensure that you are:
- not running towards the killer
- running soon enough that the killer isn't right on top of you and there's no real chase
I have a few chases now and again that work out and for sure, it's because I can see the killer coming and move out when there's still useable distance. Maybe I'm just not positioning myself smartly to begin with and so letting the killer effectively 'sneak up' on me because I'm not keeping proper lines of sight?
Any advice is appreciated.
I love alert but not all my people have it. When I get to a gen I look for resources around me (pallets, Vaults, lockers) and I take the side that helps me get to them easier and gives me the most sight in as many directions as possible. other than that the heartbeat gets faster as they get closer. That's all I got honestly.

You say exactly to the post, which makes fun of you. And there are some posts, where you cant know it. But this post is more obvious than a sledgehammer to the face. Please just take this as oppurtunity to improve and dont deny it.
You are taking this way to serious. Exactly was not for you it was for the other person I quoted. You weren't the only one I quoted in case you missed it. A obvious sledgehammer to the face joke would have /s or lol, 🤣,😂, ha, etc which this one does not. Pig is an extremely oppressive killer. She's the only killer who can kill you without being near you, and if I decide to urban evade in the basement instead of searching boxes it's a 100% guaranteed free & undeserved kill.
In order for you to die while urban evading in the basement ignoring the your beeping hat means she downed you and put that on you. How is you being killed by the trap a undeserved kill. It is i will answer it myself.

No, actually, and you already mentioned half of why. Dead Dawg has several strong resources, and insane stealth potential to make up for the weak ones.
First of all, the saloon itself. Enough said, really.
Then there's the Shack, which is almost as strong as a regular shack. No matter what, it's still a strong window joined to a god pallet chained with a strong pallet.
Then there's the building son the opposite street, which spawn some nasty configurations and are almost always solid, if not downright cruel, kind of like the pier in Grim Pantry on steroids but with breakable walls that eventually render it simply "decent".
Then there's at least two very strong pallets (one in front of shack, one in front of the saloon) and multiple potential raised generator spawns, as well as a few strong windows that can spawn.
So no, Dead Dawg is far from resourceless. RNG dependant, perhaps, but not resourceless. And if you were to delete the main building and shrubbery then sure, it would be much weaker. But you may as well talking about deleting the houses from Haddonfield, or in a more accurate comparison, the maze tiles from Coal Tower.
Yes. I just wrote an essay on Dead Dawg. Please don't think this was aimed at you, I just wanted to blurt out my thoughts on a map that I enjoy getting as a survivor and am sick of pretending otherwise for the sake of not being attacked.
Edit: Perhaps it's because people like to burn resources instead of playing mindgames around them that they hate Dead Dawg?
I have always felt like this. When I hear killer sided I cringe. Stealth game is real on that map, strong buildings on both sides, not to mention it's possible for 4 upper level gens. Hate this map as killer and love it as survivor. The only map you will ever get the "Balance" word from me is Midwich. Love that on both sides and it's the only one I love on both sides.

A killer mistake is more impactful (chase goes on longer) denied a hook because of flashlight save, walk to the wrong generator on a long map, etc. than most survivor mistakes.
I mean it is 4 vs 1.
???
Everyone knows this. it's a 1 vs 4 so ofc the killers mistakes can have more of an impact. That being said there are 4 survivors that can make mistakes where as the killer just has to worry about there own. I seen seen a single survivor end the game for all countless times as I am sure most have. I would much rather depend on myself then 3 others.
-
I like it so far as well. Not everyone plays the exact same way every game. Everyone goes stupid and plays poorly from time to time so there will still be games you don't enjoy. Agree on the streamers it's unfortunate lots of their followers would follow right off a cliff for them.
-
I personally have not camped or tunneled since MMR was released. I am doing just fine playing for 12 hooks. I win most lose some. I can admit when I lost it was mostly my fault which quite a few (being nice with that) could never admit when they make mistakes. Easier to blame MMR, the killer, survivors, perks, maps, gen speeds, RNG, a bush, etc.
-
I have never put much time in Spirit and don't mind playing against her. I got her daily last night and it was fun. The mind ######### she can do to survivors is the problem. I got 3 downs just standing still not phasing.....My build did the rest (BBQ, Nurses, Pop, Corrupt) I knew where everyone was and I couldn't keep up with POP was getting downs wayyy to quickly. Wraith in the end has a long as appearance time to give SMART survivors all they need to defend. Spirit is a whole other game herself.
-
My strength Order.
-
I was in a lobby with 3 PS players and one PC and one of the PS players dropped a pallet on a downed survivor I went to investigate the notification and downed the Jake (he the one who dropped pallet) with MYC. This was just last night and it turned to game into even more of my favor. Funny this post shows up right after I see it.

I don't think so. I think you're making an incorrect assumption.
MMR is based on unknown factors. Rank was based on specific emblem achievements. Just because the symbols for rank are similar to the symbols for grade, you're making false assumptions. Also, just so you know, when you say 'if that's what your missing', your is a possessive. You're is equivalent to you are, with an apostrophe.
Despite being right and understanding what you're bitching about, I will not respond any more on this thread. My apologies for trying to make you understand. Sorry that you 'got me' instead of someone else. Cheers, and I hope you have good games going forward.
Now you want to be an English teacher as well. Your is much faster and easier than Your're. When you text on your phone do you ever shorten the words you are saying? If not great that you have that much time but to nitpick with grammar over the internet seems petty. Other than that agree to disagree.

You said "I'm Iri 2, my first game was against ash players". This sounds exactly right based on how the new grades and MMR work. What am I missing?
The 13th is not here yet. Right now grades and rank are the same as they were before. Right now there is a indication of whether or not the MM is working as intended. I got red ranks in all my games except with Pinhead (the only killer I had not used). On the 13th there will be no way to determine anything as we all will be Ash 4. Others on this page were wondering if each killer had a base minimum of mmr score meaning even if you used a killer for first time you could only play a certain skill below yours....This is not the case based off of MY Pinhead game as I played all ash players instead of the Iri's I had in all the others. Maybe that's what your missing? or maybe you did not read this entire thread? What I do know is I responded to the person who asked that question and I got you instead. Not a fair trade off there.

You're making a point that is meaningless, as far as I know.
My understanding is that the grade now has nothing to do with who you match against, so why mention it?
MMR doesn't reflect in grade. On the 13th, everyone's grade will reset to ash. MMR will remain the same.
Well the idea of separating MMR per killer was to alleviate some of the issue with going against very good survivors with a new killer. The question is, if some of the 'residual skill' from other killers moves to a new killer, how much is it?
This is what i responded to if you took the time to READ before responding.
The reset has not happened and this experience was with Pinhead (no mmr data on him as it was my first game) I played against all rank 17-20 which at the current time means they gave me opponents far weaker as I was on a new killer. If they gave me all iri opponents with a new killer it would mean there is a base minimum for all killers. This was talked about by a few on here so my result/comment does matter. You just either can't read or understand.

Most of the ones that's complaining about it enjoyed beating up on not so good players and getting easy 4ks every other game increasing their ego, and now that their going up against players that fight back and even the playing fields it's not fair. If they learn to have fun and stop acting like this game is a job they'll have a better time.
True. Also it has only been out for 24 hours. Old matchmaking was terrible for years but this one is expected to be perfect for every soul that plays. I find this laughable.

The wife and I enjoy Hellraiser. I usually never buy a Killer at launch, and have been reluctant to get him while the crash-bug is still a thing, but I think I might just bite the bullet this evening. I'm one of those players that doesn't give a damn if he's strong, I care if he's fun. And a lot of people are saying he's fun.
I thought he was. I play on Series S and have had no lag, frame drops, etc at all. Played against him 3 times (1 the killer got booted at end) and once as him. No issues here so not sure what system you have but good luck.

I don't get it. Killer Instinct procs when they have the box (or maybe when they begin solving) so you can teleport o them. if they don't solve chain hunts begin either way you know where the box is when they have it. Least that's how my game played out.

@chargernick85 I'm also okay with a 0k or 1k. I'm not watching Kills, I'm watching the BP totals at the end. If they're relatively close, I consider the match fair under the SBMM. It just means I probably made a lot of mistakes.
Exactly. 0k with 7-8 hooks is good BP and I could have won if I was more efficient or targeted one at some point.

I played 4 games last night as well.
Game 1: Myers, 4k at 1 gen remaining.
Game 2: Myers, 4k at 1 gen remaining.
Game 3: Doc, 3k, hatch escape, 2 gens remaining
Game 4: Leatherface, 4k at 1 gen remaining.
Pretty much every time, the survivors would play efficient on the gens, but were not strong in chase. Once they knocked out the first three gens, I managed to get pressure and chases going, and that was when they fell apart.
Only game where I had strong chase survivors was the second Myers game, which was on The Game map. I had to hold Tier 3 until I could get that Bill and Leon cornered and then nail them together (they always ran together, like a SWF Duo).
I expect the above to change over the coming weeks. I haven't played since the fiasco of the Twins release almost nine months ago, so didn't participate in any SBMM tests and the system didn't exactly have much data to go off of for me.
I also don't main a specific Killer. In any given week, I will rotate between Myers, Freddy, Ghostface, Leatherface, Pig, Doc, Clown, Oni, Legion, and Wraith.
Yes the above average should change but those are great games and my personal favorite. 1 gen remaining means the game could have gone the other way for you just as easily. They just made too many mistakes and you made the right call which should be what determines the outcome of a match (who played better) but old matchmaking was not like that. I love down to the wire games where everyone scores around 20k or more.
-
I only played killer last night but mine went like this.
Game 1 - Blight with Ruin, Pop, Lethal, Disco = 4k at 1 gen remaining. They played optimal but sucked in chase.
Game 2 - Oni - Wanted to try for the 12 expose challenge and this went terrible IM, Noed, Tink, NWO. Had an endgame build that did not work on Haddonfield = 0k
Game 3 - Ghostface - Pulled my head out of my ass and realized he great for this challenge ran BBQ, Devour, MYC, Undying = 4k at 4 gens (9 exposed hits).
Game 4 - Pinhead (first gm with him) Ran his 3 perks with Lethal = 4k at 1 gen remaining.

Ye so devs have gathered datas for months for 80% of the playerbase but they still can't figure what is your skill level more or less 20% ? Ye ok... Maybe they should hire a mathematician that actually know how to do mathematics.
How would the killer in this scenario have sbmm if he just started? Also it's different of every killer on their roster. there are killers in my roster I have only used a handful of times so how will the DATA help with them?

Bad teammates should not be a thing anymore as there is a MMR.
If it ends up being 4K/0K most of the times then it's even worst than the previous system.
Not for survivors. They did not escape 50% of time with previous MM. Either way it hasn't even been out for 24 hrs can't really expect it to work every game for entire player base.
-
@JohnWeak said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481864#Comment_2481864
Not really, it means there are 15 trials where the survivors are pubstomped and 15 games where the killer can't do anything.
A working mmr would give 80% of 2K trials and the rest between 1K and 3k, 4K and 0K should be extremely rare.
2E/2K average. 15 4k's and 15 0k's are a 2E/2K average. To many variables to be a 2k every time it's about the skill of the trial and if you feel you had a chance to win if you made less mistakes. Bad teammates are one of those variables that can't be controlled. Killer is crap/trying out a killer he never used before is another. ######### happens at least in the above equation the survivor escapes half the time....A giant increase from old matchmaking solo Q.

Right, so if I have one bad match, then the whole system should be thrown out?
I'd have more respect for people's feedback in a few days when they can indicate how many matches they've played and why they think it's bad.
Posting 'MMR BAD' after 5 minutes means you did nothing and just wanted to post something useless.
For example, I actually heard @ScottJund in a video say '10 out of my last 14 matches as pinhead disconnected'. THis is actual value for something that is materially happening or people wouldn't be posting.. but when I see people posting something, and I'm not experiencing it, I'm sceptical if they're just spewing crap without any numbers. Sure, someone could just make up numbers... But that's just better lying. Having real meat behind your argument means it's worth more respect. "WAAAH X SUCKS" means nothing. Especially when you say it after only a few minutes without any kind of evidence.
Not to mention everyone considers a bad game different. Bad teammates don't mean the MMR is wrong, your kill count does not mean the MMR is wrong, it's about whether the others in the trial were your skill level and whether or not you had a legit chance to win.

I heard others saying they getting games instant as survivor so my educated guess is a influx of killers with the MMR. Again you can help with that in a lot of situations. You don't always need to find it as you can just kill the person holding the cube and take it, and it begins an intense snowball effect. Like I said in my post, he will be a tough and practice-requiring killer, but with time I know he will be very good. I had some streamers I went against complain saying pinhead was op after facing me. It is all about learning the killer.
I believed you until you said "Streamers called him OP" streamers never cry about anything so now I just don't believe you 🙄

Thanks for clearing this up. I was under the impression we could lose the pips we had let's say on iri 3 but could not drop to iri 4. So you can drop to level 4 of each color but never drop back to gold if you hit iri. Got it.
This helps a bit for finishing the month off right instead of loosing rewards on the last night.

I think the RNG can be worked around more compared to others though. Positioning of your power really matters, and good positioning undoes the bad RNG.
I get that but everything around the Lament is pure RNG. I only has one Pinhead find it yesterday an it created a ######### storm for us. Good thing he can't rarely ever find the damn thing right? Pig's traps have quite a bit RNG as well but they are still not doing gens regardless to get their trap off at some point (even if it is the first box) where as Pinhead the odds are worse. My first game against him I was not attacked by chains until halfway through the final gen. Pig can make you run the gauntlet early but does not have the potential power Pinhead does (assuming everything goes well).

He was all we played on Solo yesterday (At least me anyhow) and only died once because he had noed. I do see how he can be very dangerous but like my Piggy there is more rng than most other killers.

I understand the argument they make of people abusing the system but i feel the positives of showing the metrics would outweigh this negative. I believe not everything is set in stone and its posible they make the changes people want but not if the negative responses are '' No mmr" or "only going to see these killers" since the stats they have/looking at shows that it works and is what they want.
