    Just no.

    No. No. No. No. No.

    NO.

Stop trying to turn this around. The common denominator here is you. Clean your own room before worrying about the rooms of some hypothetical people.

I play a goodly amount of DbD. I also watch plenty of streams.

I never facecamp unless someone is BM. I get DCed on constantly.

The streamers I watch get DCed on constantly too. It's almost expected and it's insanely frustrating, as you are denying the killer BP and messing with your allies. Just search for the 'Otzdarva Rule' on YouTube if you want to know more.

Hell, as any killer would tell you, the hardest part of doing an Adept is finding a group that won't DC.

When you decide to throw a sulk because you got hooked first and DC, you are just punishing the killer for winning and punishing your allies while you are at it.

Slugging, tunneling and proxy-camping are playing the game *as intended*.

Facecamping is BM, but it's vanishingly rare as killers take a pretty big penalty when they do this.

Also - well done. You've mixed an Ad-Hominum into a Red Herring fallacy to make a Red-Hominum. The world is a worse place now.

League of Legends nailed it with LeaverBuster.

One DC once in a while? No problem.

Lots of DCs in a short time? You'll get a penalty, but by the time your internet issues are fixed, it should have expired.

DC regularly over a period of time? You'll eventually start getting 3 day, 1 week, 2 week and finally a perma ban.

I would give my little toes for DbD to have a similar system. DCs are frustrating as now I have to either waste my time giving the enemy team a break because they got paired with a jerk, or I have to wipe them out and get shouted at in postgame.

Well i have rarely seen any DC if the players has not been tunneled the whole time. It's extremely rare.

Whilst they are looking into facecamping, it does not mean people are being banned for it right now - camping, slugging and tunneling are not bannable under our current game rules. They're a part of the game and the devs looking into some things does not mean it might or should become a bannable offense - especially right now.

There are some rounds people won't enjoy and will possibly DC, but DCs have always only been intended to be used in emergencies and not because you're not enjoying a round as it ruins the round for four other players.

I have never said that players face camping once in a while should be banned. But playres abusing it in all their trials resulting in a huge amount of DC in the trials they play should be banned, definitely or have a ban Penalty.

How can the devs accept that some killer players have a DC in 5% of the trials they play and other players having 40% ? There is a problem here, clearly and i don't think it's the survivors fault.

Honestly today it's almost impossible to play as a survivor at a fairly high MMR without getting a killer camping and tunneling even if there are 4 gens left...

Sure DC ruins the round for 4 other players.

But doesn't a killer camping/tunneling the first hook in every trials ruin the trials for the 4 other players ?

The hooked survivor doesn't play and the 3 remaining survivors are just holding M1, have 0 gameplay/interactions with the killer during the whole trial. Is it not ruining others experience ? I guess it is but maybe i'm wrong.

If someone camps or tunnels, they aren’t doing anything wrong. They aren’t abusers and there are no victims.

DBD is a game. It has various mechanics, some of which allow for what we know as camping or tunnelling. If people choose to DC because of this, it’s on them and not the killer.

Why would the killer be punished for playing the game in an intended and sanctioned way?

And why should the survivor be penalized when the only thing he/she can do in the game is either stay on hook doing nothing and not even earning points + getting a MMR loss or DC ?

Either way he/she is punished, with the latter he/she is not loosing time.

If you allow the killer to be toxic and use a broken anti-gameplay mechanic then allow the survivor to be able to dodge this withotu any penalty.

And as i have said before, you guys crying because survivors are DCíng is your fault, you clearly camp/proxy camp and tunnel first hook. I never have any DC, even with Nurse. But i knew you were all mostly killer mains camping and tunneling, if you were fair players, you wouldn't defend camping/tunneling. No way.

No. Just no lmao. It's not that deep. You seriously gonna blame the children for your inability to cope with DC's in a stupid game? Hahaha

Well when i face a killer that has a ton of message on steam saying "-rep tunneler camper first hook" and that's what he/shed did in the trial i have just played and when i see streamers with a DC half their games, sure there is a problem but don't turn it around, the responsible of the DC is the killer as he/she is the common denominator in all those games.

If the way he/she is playing result in a high DC rate, 10,20 or 30% higher than the usual average rate of the global playerbase, the problem comes from this player.

If you ever did stats in your life you would know it's the plain truth. But most of you disagree because you are killer mains, surely camping and tunneling in all the trials you play. Cannot be otherwise.

You guys defending this are exactly the same as players defending teamkills in FPS competitive games.

  • @JPA said:

Terrible idea, lots of people D/C simply because they lost the first chase and don't want to get hooked first. You want to ban the OTHER person for that?

Same with Killers, sometimes Killers will D/C simply because survivors are playing well, not even because they are being toxic. You want to ban the survivors for being good?

It can happen but honestly, on my side when i play killer, i have 1 DC every 20 or 30 trials. Almost never happening.

So between 5% DC and 40% DC there is a huge margin.

Moreover, camping/tunneling first hook will often result a trial ending between 2k and 4k. So kill rate statistics are biased, devs will buff survs and killer mains will cry, vicious circle.

  • @Kalinikta said:

It is your own choice to DC, itnis not induced by anyone else than your own ego and entitlement. Play out the game and move on.

The killer isn't breaking any rules, they are playing the game and shouldn't be punished for it.

You guys have no moral at all, it is crazy this new generation, i'm wondering what your education is.

When a boss push you to the limit to the point you burn out it is your own fault ?

A killer that has 30%+ trials where opponents DC is an abuser and deserve a permaban exactly as when a boss has 30% of his/he employees in a burn out, he deserves a law punishment. The problem doesn't come from the burned out ppl, the cause is the boss.

It is exactly the same here. But well, without being mean, seeing the new generation living their life through dumb videos on TikTok, TV reality and Instagram, no wonder why the Transvaluation of values exist and we can blatantly see it here.

The bully is the victim and the real victim is the idiot that deserve to be punished.

Great way of seeing "life". Don't expect positivity in your life thinking like this, you will be frustrated all the time 😂

"Anything that beats me is a troll, and should be banned, even if the devs have previously said all of it is fair play."

    Great argument there.

Devs said they are not happy with the current camping/tunneling aspect of the game, update yourself. Last Q&A stream.

I downed someone as Wraith with a regular lunge and they immidiately DCd. No regression perks.

Why should I be penalised for this

In this exact situation, how many times does a survivor DC'ing ? 1 time out of 50 trials ? You won't get a 30 to 40% DC rate in the opponent team just by playing the game without camping and tunneling.

All of you are clearly killer mains and once again you just prove that ppl maining one side are just unaware of the global state of the game. You are all just selfish players thinking only about your little small side and personal experience without thinking how it goes for the other side.

So you think BHVR forces people to camp due to game balance, but you still think players who camp should be banned? Nice logic then.

I think BHVR forces the camp mechanic cause the design doesn't allow killers to win and yes i think players camping are just players that cannot accept to loose and feel that it is better to stay static for 5 minutes instead of actually playing :

    • You ruin the game for another survivor that is not responsible for the game design
    • You don't play standing still for 5 to 10 minutes if you camp two survivors
    • You break the stats getting 2k or 3k just by using terrible broken mechanics and then BHVR think the game is balanced and will never fix it

    Think before writing something.

  • @ilovedbd123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2649356#Comment_2649356

    That's just plain wrong.

Survivors have DC'd for just about anything.

I've seen them DC cuz I've played nurse.

DC'd because they were on 3rd hook and had been either accidentally or purposefully farmed.

Cuz I've downed someone within the first 40s (extremely short chases) of the game playing huntress or deathslinger.

Cuz the killer has a 3 gen.

    And many other reasons.

DC rates are not indicative of the killer being toxic, it can be influenced by many things. Don't just assume this.

    Now onto the other points:

Camping and tunneling in the correct circumstances is both a viable and necessary strategy at high levels of play (what most main dbd streamers are at) and is neither harassment (idk why the ######### you chose this) nor bullying or toxic. You are extremely entitled if you believe someone playing the game efficiently in a viable and intended way is harassment, bullying or toxic. Unless you are talking about an incident where a killer face camped and it wasn't rewarded by the other players (so the players sat on gens, and didn't play for altruism) and so it was not the correct time nor efficient.

And gold star for you, you chose to play in an inefficient way, whilst slandering those who play efficiently. If you were nicer, saying things like "I don't like" or "it's not fun" I'd agree to an extent, but the ######### you've said here is extremely hyperbolic and just downright wrong.

Ye well, i usually play Nurse, Billy, Spirit and Pinhead, 3 of them are the worst unfun killer to face for many and i never have any DC. You are clearly the problem.

  • @RainehDaze said:

Again, this is "I think people who play a way I don't want them to shouldn't be allowed to play at all". That is the single most entitled opinion you can possibly hold on a game.

It's not about "I". When a given player induces so many opponents DC to a point where 30% to 40% of the trials he/she plays there is a DC, this player is a problem.

It's not like he/she does this from time to time, it's all the time. Without the DC penalty system, this player would have near 100% DC.

And no there is no counter to being camped and tunneled. Other survivors can gen rush but the concerned survivor has not a single counter and he/she will be MMR punished cause he will die no matter what.

You find it healthy for the game ? Then explain why, i'm waiting for your arguments but you won't have any. Maybe because you are playing exclusively like this, camping and tunneling first hook and cannot get any kill without camping/tunneling ?

  • @Labrac said:

Funny how OP has a very recent post titled "Chasing/patroling with most killers = insta loss" defending camping.

Yes it is insta loss, doesn't change that camping is not fun for the concerned survivor and not fun or the killer that does not play.

My thread just meant that BHVR has to do something to prevent camping/tunneling and to balance the game in order to give a chance to all killers.

But hey if you cannot understand between the lines, not my fault. Ppl doing shortcuts cause they cannot think outside of the box 😅

  • @RainehDaze said:

Something like this would be used by trolls, 100%.

Also, "people should be banned from playing the game because they're using tactics I don't like"? Really?

You cannot troll if DCing still gives a ban penalty.

You don't know the killer you are facing, if he has a toxic history or not.

Killers that have a huge survivors DC rate are just toxic. When a killer has 30 to 40% DC rate on 1000 trials, sure this player must be removed from the game.

And you can check some streamers, some of them have DC in pretty much all their games and why ? Because they are camping and hard tunneling. They show the bad side of the game/community and give a terrible example on how to play the game.

As a survivor i'm at a MMR where it is impossible to have a fun game, camping and tunneling 1st hook in like 80% of the trials. Expulsing a survivor that could not do anything but being tunneled for 5 minutes and die is not a tactic, it's just bullying, being toxic and it's like harassment.

As a killer, i never camp/tunnel and in the end chat the survivors often thank me for this... some even tell me that there are almost no fair killer left.

Few things, this example you've provided is extremely bias.

He's using a single perk and no addons at decently high MMR, you expect him to win?

Lilith doesn't use a macro, you made that up. The things he does in game are done himself.

Lilith could win most of his games if he wanted to, but he prefers playing for fun rather than winning. The dude beat Sample Text and was moon rushing while doing it, he could win some High MMR games if he wanted.

Blight is S tier because he has the best map pressure in the game as well as some great 1v1, a good Blight player who can use him to the fullest is one of the strongest things in this game, Blights basekit is great and he also has synergy with almost every perk in the game for killer. Not to mention he has some of the best addons in the game.

    Frankly, this post is ignorant.

Well he is sweating as ######### most of the time and still loose a ton.

He is using a macro, as he doesn't do any vertical moves with the mouse during hit 180 turns and the up/down is clearly robotic.

Blight has map pressure but cannot catch any competent survivor fast enough, thinking otherwise is being ignorant and his map pressure is clearly not the strongest in the game. Nurse beats him, Billy aswell.

  • @Bwsted said:

Are we really complaining that he can't win at supposedly high mmr (where survivors also can't loop apparently) when he's using a single perk for meme'ing and no add-ons? What is this, peak entitlement hour?

I think you might have missed the point of that video and then made a whole discussion based on flawed premises.

And on every 180 turns he is using a look down/up macro, he doesn't move his mouse down and up, so even by exploiting he still cannot win...

Lmao, if true, that's the dumbest macro ever. Literally just look down, there's no need for a macro, it's not some street fighter combo coordination.

Look at his stream, he barely wins.

And no, doing huge left/right moves by looking down, with the Blight you would need 24k DPI.

And he doesn't use dead hard it's a joke...

I love his streams, the sweat on survivors in his games is incredible to watch.

Blight is one of the weakest killer, but everyone is putting him on top lol...

    • He is hard to master, extremely hard
    • He relies on Line of sight, as the nurse, but cannot blink so walls are a huge problem
    • He can rush, as Billy, and so has a limited turn rate but he doesn't one shot down
    • In strong loops that have collision, he is basically a M1 killer unable to do anything but turning 3 times around the loop
    • Collisions are often buggy
    • And the best Blight players around are unable to win at high MMR, they need to loose some trials to go down in rank, then win, go up and it is a circle
    • And Blight relies on high DPI
    image.png

Dunno why everyone puts him S tier lol

  • PC master race hands down, 120 FPS constant, keyboard/mouse 0 input lag, custom graphics. Way better to play killer.

  • Nerfs/Buffs posts are useless and dumb.

The big balance work is around maps and gen speed, that's all.

Maps' layouts must be changed, many pallets/windows must be removed, same for hooks, the distance between them must be standardized to give some possibilities to the survivors but to avoid dead zone. Same for pallets, dead zones are nonsense.

Also, the killer patrol speed must be re-think, some killers cannot have map control being too slow...

    So rework :

    • maps' balance
    • number of pallets/windows/hooks
    • distance between pallets/windows/hooks

When all this is fixed to a point it's acceptable, even though not perfect, BHVR can start to rework/rethink some perks.

  • @GannTM said:

Killers say DS deserves another nerf and survivors say Spirit deserves another nerf. You can never please some people.

I'm just sick of them. I play more survivor and from what I have noticed survivors are more toxic than killers. I can understand when you are toxic with reason, but insulting in chat after a normal match with like 2 or 3 hooks without camping or tunneling is a hypocrite thing to call the killer tunneler, clown or others insults. People chose to be like this. Nobody force them to insult. I think that's why there are more and more tunnelers. That's my opinion.

Btw, I play on EU server.

I agree but you won't change dumb players...

If they think they are awesome because a killer got 3 hooks only while they gen rushed and ended the trial in 8 minutes, first they are babies at the game as they know only one side and their life is miserable to enjoy bullying virtually someone...

And higher is your MMR as a killer, more you will get those toxic survivors.

  • @Yords said:

I used to think self care was the best perk in the game.

    SC is underrated.

Same when i play killer, i see so many survivors that cannot heal and think DH will save them while that's not the case and they give me ez win staying injured the whole trial...

    • i thought that the game was killer sided
    • i thought that DbD or Devour hope were game changers perk
    • i thought that being good at looping meant to just turn around the same pallet loop till you use the pallet
    • i thought that waiting in the loop after a hit was the best way to loose killer's time

Stfu. I play how I want. I don't care what you or others say. If I camp, I tunnel or not I'm called tunneler anyway so I DON'T GIVE A ######### about your hypocrite complaints. Get over it and grow up. Instead of complaining on forums you should do something useful.

Nobody calls me tunneler or camper and most of the times survivors say thx and ggs at the end of the trials...

I'm not the target of your post but i find your reaction immature...

Sure you can polay as you want but tunneling & camping using cheap explanation just participate to add more toxicity in the DbD community, toxicity that is already high enough to my mind.

I guess if we want fair match some players need to show that a non-toxic behavior is possible into the game.

  • @Zyie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647210#Comment_2647210

Yeah, I never camp or tunnel either, unless a survivor is just being very toxic. If they keep teabagging me and clicking their flashlights every chance they get, I'll make sure that person dies and then I'll let the other 3 escape. While I enjoy winning, I get greater pleasure from ensuring that toxic players aren't having a fun match, while I can just have fun and meme with the non-toxic players before I let them escape.

If I run into games where I can't win without tunneling and/or camping, I honestly don't mind taking the loss. I've been matched against a team that's clearly better than me, I'll do my best to get whatever kills I can, but I won't punish a random player by camping/tunneling them, just because I'm not good enough to win the match without that. I don't enjoy doing it, the survivor getting camped/tunneled doesn't enjoy it, I don't learn how to get better by just face camping instead of playing the game, so it's just negative in every way imo. On top of that, if I tunnel and camp my way from what would've been a 0-1 kill game into a 3-4 kills game, I gain MMR, and will face harder teams, that I will struggle even more against, forcing me to tunnel and camp harder to stand a chance of getting 3-4 kills, until I start facing teams that no matter what I do, I have no chance of getting a single kill, which is just frustrating. I'd rather take the loss when I face survivors that are simply better than me, and then I lose some MMR and face a team that's more evenly matched, and I can learn how to be a better killer over time.

I don't understand the killers who are so focused on always getting the most kills the can, no matter what. Camping/tunneling will get you more kills on low/mid ranks, which will raise your MMR, which will eventually match you against survivors that will steamroll you, you'll get frustrated and claim they're toxic, they're cheating, survivors needs to be nerfed etc, rather than admitting that the only thing you're good at is tunneling for easy kills, and face camping. Methods that works well on lower MMR, but will lose you every game at higher MMR if that's the only thing you're good at. I guess getting 3-4 kills makes people think that they're supperior to the players that they were up against, while they refuse to acknowledge that tunneling is clearly very unbalanced and gives killers a massive advantage, especially if they do it right from the start of the game. Any time they do lose, they blame others for it, like if the killer face camps one person to death on first hook while the rest of the survivors do the gens and escape, I've seen a bunch of killers say stuff like "why didn't you save your friend" and "you suck because you didn't help your teammate, you're bad, so I won" etc.. It's dumb. If they win by abusing poor balancing, they think they're great. If they lose, they somehow think that they only lost because the survivors were bad, which of course makes no sense.. No matter what, in their mind, they're great killers and no one can convince them otherwise, lol.

Exactly, same for survivors that push it to the max to get a win, bringing purple toolboxes/medkits, map offerings and abusing all broken perks (especially CoH).

I mean, once one thing is OP they abuse it to win and then think they are awesome... while they just abuse broken things.

As if there was a one shot down add-on + a 1 hook death perk for all killers and we would all abuse them... ppl in this community are really toxics. Their life might be really miserable to have such a mindset.

  • Letting the last survivor leaving, all the time with hatch or door depending if i want to give him/her the "ahah got you, i have closed the hatch, what you gonna do ?" vibe and then i show the door :).

If they are cute, i let the last two escaping, i don't care winning, everyone needs to have fun.

However, if a survivor is not helping the others, exemple if this survivor prefers to hide instead of unhooking someone while i'm on the other side of the map, i have no mercy and if i have the possibility to kill him/her, i do it, without tunneling.

And even if it is not the subject, i find the SBMM being a terrible implementation, i thought it would be good but i was wrong, it removes the casual aspect of the game and dying feels like a punishment while before it was just well, go next game.

  • @Zyie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2645036#Comment_2645036

Lmao, disrespect? What? How can you be personally offended by someone unhooking a person while you're still nearby? And why would you not punish the person who "offended" you by unhooking, rather than tunneling the person on the hook who had no say in it?

It all sounds like a terrible excuse to just tunnel and camp/proxy camp. This is just your twisted justification, rather than admitting that you can't get wins without it, you blame others for your ineptitude, lol. Sucks to suck I guess.

And on-topic; I do mostly agree with what OP said, the numbers might need adjustments, but camping (and tunneling for that matter) really shouldn't be the most efficient way for a killer to win. I understand that it's sort of required at the top-end of gameplay, especially if you're against a 4 man swf. I don't however think that's a good justification for not implementing something like this, if anything a broader rebalancing allowing for killers and 4 man swf's at the top of gameplay to be more even without needing to tunnel and/or camp is a much better solution for that issue. Basically, I wish that the game was balanced as such that the most efficient way for a killer to play, is similar to when a killer is running Devour Hope. They hook, then run straight for the next kill. Maybe something like giving killers a movespeed increase for X amount of time after hooking a survivor, combined with a heavy slowdown on the hook timer if the killer stays nearby without being in a chase, thereby making it much better if they try to find a survivor and get into a new chase as quickly as possible, rather than camping which pretty much guarantees that the other 3 survivors will be able to gen rush all gens if the killer camps and waits for the person on the hook to die.

I don't think that the hook timer should move faster if the killer runs away from the hook, that's going to have a minimal impact vs swf's, but could have a huge negative effect on solo-q, which are already heavily disadvantaged, where many more will start dying on hook or get to 2nd stage the first time they're hooked, because their teammates are more focused on hiding from the killer, cleansing totems, opening chests or doing gens instead of actually unhooking people. The best solution is giving killers who doesn't camp a buff, while punishing killers who does camp, without those changes hitting solo-q players much harder than swf's.

Great ideas there, the speed boost after the hook would give a better map control to the killer. Actually it is a really good idea.

And the camping penalty is a must now. I'm a 50/50 player and don't want to camp at all and i hate it when i play survivor to see a killer camping while 4 gens are left...

And a few days ago, i have faced a Freddy camper... he justified it because he has said that we gen rushed him. I have checked his stream, we did 3 gens in 4 minutes, the time he needed to find a survivor and down him.

4 minutes, 3 gens, knowing the gens speed, it was clearly not a gen rush...

Bad killers always find justification to play toxic.

  • @Bran said:

    well...

    1) yeah, killer shouldn't get punished for chasing survivors if they go near the hook. you said "same as today" so i assume that's what the current hook timer is then right?

    2) i like to say that if survivors are also close to the hook it should not be slowed. (Ex: if killer radius 5 meters, then survs would be 10 meters). because you can know they are close to the hook, waiting. you can see them run back and forth from a farther distance. basically their proxying and your defending the hook, but now your getting penalized for them proxying.

    3) im not too sure the timer should be faster if the killer is away. survivors should be able to let them hang for a bit to finish healing, gens, totems. thats on the assumption 175% is faster than the current hook timer.

    1) Exactly

    2) Good idea

So what you're saying is loop the killer near hook so two other people have extra time to push gen progress before someone absolute has to make the save? Yeah that's a hard pass.

This is the consistent issue with these ideas around dealing with camping. Any system you design to fight camping with a mechanical debuff can and will be abused by a plurality of players in a way that is at worst punishes the person on hook and at best just means survivors don't really get a tangible benefit. Also this wouldn't prevent hard camping as those players do not care how long it takes you to die on hook as long as you die. Someone who camps as their only strategy isn't concerned with bloodpoints, MMR, and most certainly not a hooked survivor's enjoyment.

Your suggestion also places the hooked survivor at an extreme disadvantage should the killer just play normally and not camp. Which means you're actively penalizing the hooked survivor for no real reason.

What is wrong with ppl on this forum ? Do you understand what you read ?

Honestly, on this thread you are the 3rd person unable to understand a simple sentence... it's concerning.

  • Yes it's crazy. Had a game as Billy today on this map... Found a survivor that was pre-dropping all pallets so i have followed him to remove some and then went for chasing others.

I guess i have broken around 20 pallets and there were still some strong loops left, more than 5.

How BHVR can think that a map with around 30 safe pallets is good ?

And they have reworked the map to balance it ? Is it a joke ?

Even by removing half of them there would still be too many pallets 😂

  • More than 20 safe pallets for sure

  • Tinkerer is a good perk but if you know to have a good map control, you don't need it, i mean it doesn't bring any bonus then.

Honestly, they need to come up with something better than hit validation. It's BS and everybody seems to time it just right now, even on quick hits and running them down for a moment before attempting the hit. I've come out of blinks where they had no mine of sight on me and perfect DH to avoid me. Its ridiculous.

And you know vaulting will get hit validation next. It's going to happen.

It is normal, it is fixed... it is not about favoring survivors or anything.

The survivor is hearing you launching the hit, then he/she uses DH and server is validating it.

Bait the DH as before, it works like a charm.

It's funny... when I get that map as Survivor, my teammates usually lose their minds and have no clue what they're doing, resulting in an easy win for the Killer. But when I get that map as Killer, I'm usually playing Slinger or Trickster and the Survivors are all running Balanced Landing with four Shadowstep totems and Prove Thyself. Or that's what it seems like, anyway. They could be perkless and it would be the same end result... three hooks maximum with 10k points. Definitely my most hated map in the video game.

Fun fact: Haddonfield is 10,752 square meters, which is 800 square meters larger than Temple of Purgation. It's WAY too big, as with most maps in this game...

Well yes, if the survivors are experienced, they will either go inside the white houses or inside the basement houses to loop.

If they have luck, they will also have a pallet loop combined with a window fenced.

Using those 5 loops is enough to hold most killers for 10 gens and it is not exaggerated.

Edit : and to those 11000 sqaure meters, you can add all the building's floors square meters which is roughly 15000 m2 i guess then.

  • Around 1000 hours for survivor mains. You will be really really good when you reach the 1500h mark.

    Same for killers.

If you begin being a main something, then if you start playing the other role with 1500 hours in the previous one, the learning time will be shorter as you will know maps, loops and global design mechanics. Let's say from this start point, 500 hours to master this role will be more than enough.

    Perks causes controversy among us.

Let's put perks aside and look at the game the way it is, what is not balance beside perks?

Any ideas to change what is unbalanced?

I think that perks are just a detail everyone can work with. Some need changes but the 2 big deals concerning balance are the maps and the number of safe pallets/windows.

  • Every DLC, great or average is part of the DbD history. Seeing one removed just because BHVR and the other contractor didn't find a deal is a sad thing for the players.

Stranger things is to my mind one of the best addition to the game with Silent Hill and Hellraiser not because the killers are awesome (even though they are pretty fun to play) but because the backgrounds of these IP are awesome, deeply linked with the horror genre.

I hope that BHVR will try to find a deal with Netflix for the return of the stranger things even if it means decreasing the revenue around this license or accepting an unfair revenue split.

Who cares ? Only the players matter.

Also, i find the licenses under exploited... BHVR could bring more maps for every DLC. There is enough content to work on with some IP : Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Stranger things. All those IP could have bring like 2 to 3 maps each. 🙄

  • Yes as a killer at an average MMR or average+ but once high MMR is reached, survivors are way too strong and you cannot down them fast enough.

  • Not prestige, hook phase. In english maybe you call it S1, S2, S3 i guess.

Nah I don't camp because it's boring. Maybe only with bubba because it's fun lol. But if you are not waiting for me to be far from the hook or, at least, chasing someone else, and you are saving after few seconds I'll definitely tunnel that guy. Even if you have bt doesn't mean you can disrespect me and save immediately after I left the hook. I'll definitely come back to put him back on hook. It annoys me when they save so quickly. If the killer is nearby he have no reason to not come back. A Feng did that and she practically killed her teammate doing so. I used not to come back if I was nearby because, you know, I thought it's toxic if I will do that, but no. It's their fault if they have no idea when to save. BT is for camping, not to save immediately I make 2 steps from the hooks.

Well i don't feel it's a disrespect. Sometimes some survivors are greedy, forcing gens or trying a flashlight saves while injured. If those survivors are P1, i will definitely punish them and hook them to P2 but if they are P2, i will hit them down and leave if others are still P1 or P0.

I'm trying to give them as many saves BP as possible and in the same time granting me with as many hook BP as possible.

If survivors see that you are fair, they will try more things and do more mistakes for the fun, especially if they know you won't kill them if everyone else is P0.

Survivors notice it pretty fast and in one or two hooks they determine if you are an unfun player or not. For now, i have had mostly good survivors appreciation, many ggs at the end of the trials even when i 3k them.

And when they use BP offerings, they never waste them as they all do 15k+ unless if they did nothing the whole time i was chasing others, which happens sometimes but the problem is on them not on me.

  • @Sakurra said:

If camping will be nerfed they have to nerf loops as well.

Honestly, i have started to play killer without sweating, i never camp, never tunnel and try to get 2 hooks on everyone or most of them before the first kill and i have a blast.

The survivors i face are good but not try harders, they know they can go for saves without any risk so they do it and globally my trials' fun has improved a lot and i can actually play the game, no need for camping.

Alright that seems fair. But I still think the gates should have that change.

How I would change the gates

Once you're 25 meters away from the gate it'll regress 100%. (Speed of rank 1 ruin)

Staying near the gate will regress 50%

Tapping the gate lever multiple times so it doesn't regress, would cause it to short out and lose 10% of it's progress.

You are right, those 99% gates are non sense... especially when you have blood warden...

  • @jarjargist21 said:

Well camping is a strategy for killers and I do agree with the changes that you come up with but it create problems as well.

Now let's take endgame for example. In endgame, if killer got someone on hook and both gates are being powered the killer has no choice but to camp so they can do their objective which is to kill the survivor.

I feel like in end game once the survivors get off the gate then it should regress, as to keep the game fair for both sides.

That's why i have said those changes would apply only till 1 gen is left then the regression is 100% whatever is the situation, same as today.

  • @Emeal said:

How about we just teach Survivors to check if the Killer is around before unhooking?

    or

Teach Survivors to do gens when someone is Camping to make it a bad choice for the Killer. Aka Teach to Punish Camping.

BHVR could add such advice to the loading screen! That would be really good.

For the first point i agree but to counter a face camper, you need to gen rush and checking if the hooked surv is camped (if they are soloQ and don't have kindred....) is a huge waste of time.

Even playing at high MMR, sometimes you cannot properly gen rush because some of the survs waste tons of time to go near the hook and to see that the killer is hard camping...

I know, kindred is a must in many situations, especially at high MMR where you see a lot of campers.

    Many survivors have no brain...

Another exemple, yesterday, i played in duoQ on Azarov against a trapper. Killer was trapping one side completely, leaving the other side with 3 generators totally free. The two other survivors did the 3 gens on the free side...

We still managed to win the trial but with an added difficulty just because most players are M1 bots.

So asking bots to understand the basic "if the killer is camping, gen rush", it's pretty hard. Survivors with 4k hours still did not understand...

    1) 25 meters is HUGE distance. That's not even considered camping. Maybe small proxi camp at +20m distance.

    2) Very easy. You need to be in chase to not get punished. So all Survivors need to do is lose line of sight with the Killer. If you see a 2+ Survivors and you know there are there but just hidden or blocking the chase start why you should get punished for it when they are near the hook?!

    3) Camping is SOMETIMES a must it you want to play right or you have no other choice. For example: Endgame. Both exits open. You didn't see anyone with BBQ. So what should you do now? Patrol random opened exit gates ?! Go to corner of the map and stand still looking into wall? Hah.

    1) can set a different distance, just need to find the right spot

    2) Well a standard killer is going at 4,6 m/s and survivors at 4.0. If you loose them in 3 seconds because they went behind a rock, sry but the problem is on your side, not the survivors'.

    3) I have said : "This mechanic would apply only when there is more than 1 generator left."

You embarrass yourself, read and understand what you read before posting...

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

For a bilion time: Devs tried it in the past, didn't worked because Survivors could abuse systems againts camping like this. No.

How can you abuse it ? lol

There is no way to abuse it. Read and understand before posting.

i usually limit myself to 1 gen protection perk and usually get 2/3ks. As long as you play smart and the survivors aren't very high MMR, youd should do well. And there really isn't much of a reason to not run them since very few other perks aren't worthless sadly

Yes if you stay at an average+ MMR it is okay but fact is it is sad that you cannot play at a high MMR without using boring mechanics.

  • Yup, pretty good regression perk that will have a huge synergy with Pop, used either on the same generator either on two separate generators.

However, it is sad that killers are relying on perks to prevent gen rush, which is, to my mind, a design flaw...

So as a killer you are pretty much forced to use 3 slow down perks : Corrupt, Pop and Scourge, leaving one slot for an original perk... breaking the combination of other perks such as Starstruck + Distressing...

At high MMR. Matches last closer to 4-5 minutes. With 4-5 minutes of camping at EGC trying to get everyone out

Exactly, with my high MMR killers (Plague, Blight, Doctor, Pinhead, PH), my trials last 7 to 8 minutes max. The gen rush is huge, i'm even wondering if they cheat sometimes as it is lightning fast even though one surv is on hook etc...

It's like you check a gen, it is at 0% progression, you go away see 2 other gens, the first one you checked popping...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/295201/personal-experience-playing-fair-as-a-killer

I'm probably at a high-intermediate MMR, and I follow some similar rules - with a few exceptions.

    • I never facecamp unless you BM me.
    • I will, however, loosely patrol the area around the hook and nearby gens. If I see someone coming for the unhook, I'll chase them.
    • I'll tunnel someone down ASAP if I think it's a SWF. If it's randos, I usually won't. However, if you run into me off hook, I'm going to bop you.
    • In most games though, I'll try to 2-hook everyone once I get that first kill (which lets me control the pace of the game) or if they have a DC.
    • If I'm pounding, I'll generally ease off a little to let you get some BP.
    • If someone plays particularly well, I'll give them hatch. On rare occasions, I'll let two people escape.

I don't like Bamboozle as a perk, I almost never get use out of it - unless it's a map like Haddonfield where survivors are abusing that one infinite. I already have a mandatory spot taken up by BBQ (the grind is real).

I usually play Cenobite, Hag, Plague, Doctor, Demo and occasionally Pig. I generally run some combination of BBQ+Surge, Pop, Monitor, Plaything, Retribution, Devour Hope, Lethal Pursuer and occasionally an unga-bunga build with Enduring/Brutal Strength/SF.

My games are usually fun. I do get frustrated sometimes when survivors are BM, or abuse pseudo-infinites/map offerings.

What is the average results of your trials ? I mean how many kills ? How many hooks on average ?
