Well the problem is that survivors NEED to play meta at high rank or else they can't hold the killer in chases.
Also, Killers need to play some meta perks (corrupt intervention, BBQ) to be effective. Concerning killers too, some of them needs add-ons to be able to compete against good survivors (trapper for exemple)...
The game design is perfectible... To have a better balanced game, i think that all killers add-ons should be removed and receive a buff to compensate it.
Exemple : If a survivor disables a trapper's trap, the survivor is injured, vanilla built-in the trap.
All killers should be viable at any level without add-ons. Same for perks, i think some perks should be built-in the vanilla game (corrupt intervention, BBQ) but then, some perks should be removed from the game.
Perks should give the ability to slightly change the way you play. Atm, the gameplay revolve too much around perks while it should revolve around basic abilities more.
If a perk or add-on (for killer and survivors both) is a game changer THEN there is a huge problem in the base game design. And many perks are a game changer :
- BBQ
- Corrupt Intervention
- Sprint Burst
- Dead Hard
- DS
- Iron Will
- injure disable traps
- one shot traps
- auto activate traps
- Nurse's calling
- NOED
- We'll make it
- auto-healing
etc... there are way too many game changing perks and it's impossible to balance a game like this.

Can we please tone down with the Wraith hate posts? We get it, y’all hate Wraith because he’s actually good now.
He is not good, he is OP. Huge map control as he is fast, really good in chase with the huge speed boost, huge advantage between pallets as he runs faster... and invisible without beatrate. Well i guess that's way too much.

So I played against a wraith, I forgot his perks, but I know one was star struck that literally worked from across half the map and he also had a perk that I guess if more then one survivor is working on a gen they get the exposed effect, so the wraith has speed, then more speed when he uncloaks, invincibility and one shot potential lol, when I first started this game I thought it was fun, now I've never been so irritated with a game where I contemplate whether or not I want this game to continue to take space on my console, am I the only one
Wraith became OP with the rework... unfortunately

Sounds like a survivor main to me trying to take a cheap shot
Not really 🤣.
Most high skilled killers say that the game swifted to killers' advantage and that most of the trials are boring to play now. Almost all well know streamer said it.
Some killer mains said this on this forum aswell.
But guys, you all defend camping & tunneling.
How is it possible to be unskilled to the point you don't see that this is a cheap mechanics lol... it's beyond me. As i said before, moderator should moderate the discussion around camping and tunneling. It's unhealthy for the game.
As a Killer it's super rare that survivors don't tell me gg in the end chat. I never get a "noob camper" or something. Well, if you think camping early is the only viable way to win a trial, you are bad at the game, that's all.

I'm going to show a minute of REsistance footage of Nemesis to show what Nemesis really is and why he doesn't feel like Nemesis much at all in DBD. Also if you're looking for multiplayer Resident Evil gameplay I 100% suggest this game over DBD. It deserves way more time in the spotlight than the absolute travesty of the RE chapter. Oh and if you don't get what he is supposed to be I can explain it to ya if you would like.
😂
Joke aside, i find that last killers (almost non original killers except Blight/Twins) have a boring kit. They are boring to play...
Only fun and original killers are :
- Trapper
- Nurse
- Huntress
- Blight
- PH
- Demo (strong map control but weak base kit)
Every other killers are just the same than the one listed above. Nothing new. Standard attack not requiring any skill, no originality at all... Boring to play, only W + left click. It's sad.
Releasing too much new content is killing the possibilities for originality.

Tunneling isn´t penalized in the current piping system. So those things won´t go away, because their root cause is a different one.
Camping&tunneling, just as gen rushing are simply sides of the same coin.
As long as one exists, the other will.
Gen rush doesn't exist. It's not a cheap mechanic, survivors have to do gens so they do gens. What do you want, that they wait roaming in the map for nothing ? So no, gen rush is not a strategy and doesn't exist. In a 3 gens situation you cannot be rushed, it's all about map control.
However, camping & tunneling early is not what the killer has to do. The killer has to hunt and down survivors. Waiting around the hook just to get easy hits/downs is a cheap mechanic.
Atm camping is penalized : Killers are loosing point for staying near a hook if there is no survivor nearby.
With SBMM, high skilled survivors know that when one is camped, you have to do gens as fast as possible = no one will stay near the hook, the killer will loose thus decreasing its SBMM rank and so he/she will be away of high rank play.
Then lower rank survivors will learn how to behave with a camper/tunneler etc...
It's good enough for me.
SBMM will force players to improve on both sides. Those that won't be happy because they are used to be unfair or boosted can leave the game, honestly, i don't see why we should cry for toxic players leaving.

Why should the devs give huge rank penalties?
Camping and tunneling are not reportable things. They are even desired strategies.
Not reportable doesn't mean it's considered high skilled. Camping and tunneling killers are just noobs that don't know how to play killers. They use these mechanics to get easy win without the need to be good at chases and map control.
Moreover, these cheap mechanics are way too strong against solo/duoQ squads and works 99% of the time.
Low skill high reward way to play the game. And as camping/tunneling is penalized about piping in the current system, i'm sure it won't be considered high skill.
As a killer i can go from rank 20 to red ranks with barely loosing one or two trials without camping/tunneling once... with Demo, Trapper, PH and Blight. 😂 And here i see everyone complaining about how weak killers are. Those players crying all the time are a joke.
-
BHVR said that the SBMM system brought balance to the game and that trials statistics had never been as good as with the last SBMM test.
You can't fight the statistics, if the average kill rate was 2 for every killers, it means the SBMM works great.
If you have lost most of your trials when the test was live then you didn't play at your skill level but higher. Your experience will then be fixed when the system will find out what is your real skill.
:)

If you think that sbmmr will solve camping and tunneling, then you gonna have a bad time.
Depends if devs decided to give huge rank penalties if the killer use those mechanics.
When SBMM was in test, i encountered way less campers/tunnelers.
-
Can't wait for all the killers crying here to be wiped out of the high rank trials.
I play killer as well and i will continue to play killer, properly, never using cheap mechanics as most of you do (campnig adn tunneling that you defend in every threads). And as a survivor i will enjoy to face skilled killers that do not camp and tunnel aswell.
It's not because you won't be part of the high ranked play that SBMM is bad. Maybe most killers should have never been part of high ranks playerbase.

It's a bad idea to remove the "suicide" on hook.
Better to let them die on the hook than to let them trolled you like pre pallets or vaulting windows. And that permanently ...
I didn't hat much DC problems the last days.
Depends the time you play. In the evening it's ok, globally killers and survivors are good enough to have good trials, mostly.
But in the morning 'week-end) and at peak teenagers hours, between 5PM & 7PM, it's horrible.
If you are good at the game, it's impossible to play as a survivor in soloQ. Playing killer only at this time of the day and trying to be fair to give the survivors a good experience.
-
Honestly i can't accept killer main complaining about everything. I have enough of this, i don't understand why the moderators don't ban them a few days.
It's enough.
Do you know in what state is the game atm ? Seriously do you know it ?
Developpers had to implement a ban penalty for DC and to remove the suicide on hook. Do you know why ? Because the survivors' DC/Suicide rate is huge as never. Even today with the penalties it's huge.
I almost never see a killer DC. Once every 50 trials. But survivors it's everyday, like 20% of the trials minimum. Continue to ask nerfs and survivors will definitely leave this game.
I'm sure the OP is under 25 years old, this generation that want everything for free without personal investment. Everything has to be easy for this generation, ez money, ez relationship, ez work, ez wins.
Just learn to be better at the game.

This game has an insane amount of problems and SBMM can't be released just yet.
Don't get me wrong I'm not completely against it but at the moment it's the last thing the players need.
There are a lot of killer that need buffs and tweaks, maps with dead zones or unfair spawns( double Lt walls in suffocation pit for example).
The nosense amount of pallets in some maps(the game)
The performance issues, fps drops while using dh, or when using killer power (nemesis, piramid head etc)
The amount of useless perks in the game, can we like, have a different meta every month like other games? No matter the buff you give to some perks, people will keep using bt dh Ds ub and pop ruin und tinkerer.
With that being said, it's a casual game, that's what the devs don't wanna understand, the amount of rng it's insane and with all the problems the game has atm adding SBMM will just make people even more upset in the short term
SBMM is the best thing that will happen to the game for years.
If you feel like some killers need buffs, it means your are playing with survivors that are stronger than you.
As you can't play against SWF that often (it's like 3% of the trials), it means you can't get kills in higher ranks while most of survivors there are total potatoes atm.
Everyone will play at his/her rank and everything will be better for the game.

After your post i went to a game and removed DH to take Sprint Burst.

Do you realize that half the people that complain it doesn't work, refuse to ever run a trial without it? and no it isn't you're immune to dmg, you didn't get that distance jump when it came out.
Don't worry, in one week you will play with potatoes and you will get your 4k every trials till you end up reaching your galss ceiling, which might not be that high seeing that you complain about a perk that doesn't work 80% of the time.
-
Another bad gameplay work from BHVR.
I mean, all other company are careful to not give an advantage that depends of graphics option or screen ratio.
The advantage is huge here, it's crazy. I'm not using stretched and will never use it but honestly, it is in the game for years and developpers don't fix it.
zoom or un-zoom depending of the screen ratio to give exactly the same FOV from top to bottom of the screen (vertical one).
-
If the SBMM work as intended, streamer will end up with 2k/2e average (as a killer), which is fair enough to my mind.
For survivors streamers, well they will get good trials with other survivors that know how to play. Streams will be better.
-
Funniest killer to go against
Trapper
Demo
Nurse
Huntress
Billy
Myers
Spirit (now that stridor is fixed)
Pig
Oni
Doctor
Myers
Nemesis
Fun killers (need some changes)
PH (need to add a stun when stopping the judgement on purpose)
Blight (need to remove the 90 - 90 turn rate when rushing)
Booba (kind of, depending is he camps or not)
All other killers are boring.

So camping and tunneling killers will be grouped up with the low-mid rank survivors (where it’s most effective). That’ll go well!
Fact is, i don't think that any killer will enjoy to play against total potatoes (new players) that don't know what they are doing. Camping and tunneling to win 80% of your trials with 4K, 4 to 5 gens left won't be enjoyable.
Camping won't be of high reward anymore (i hope). Killers won't go up in rank and they won't enjoy their trials :)
-
Some red rank players that are there because they are boosted or use cheap mechanics to win will be mad about it. If the feature push them away from the game then fine, it will be healthy for the game.
The last years i have seen nothing but more and more toxic players & potatoes.
Most survivors are bad without any game sense.
Most killers are just toxic campers and tunneler (1st hook) ruining the trials for everyone.
So ye, mostly players thinking they are better than what they really are will be pissed and they will actually (finally) have to improve if they want better quality trials.

Not advocating against tunneling here, but there will be moments where you just end up running into the previous unhooked survivor because they ran straight into you.
I've had this happen to me yesterday and the day before and well, they were basically the weak link of the group.
While I agree camping should have a higher penalty (except during endgame as there is literally nothing else the Killer could do at that point or to defend), I do think the penalty for tunneling should be based more on how much time it takes before the survivor gets hooked again.
Yes it will happen and it is allowed. I mean, depending of what is going on, sometimes you are forced to do so as a killer but last years, camping/tunnelnig has been polluting the game so bad for survivors...
For the SBMM, i also hope that potato survivors that are boosted to red rank will be at the bottom of it. Survivors that throw all pallets in 20 seconds chases or do nothing but hide in the closet... well, they don't deserve to be red ranks.

As of right now there's no specific plan for you to see your own SBMM rating - this might be something that is implemented in the future, but not right now.
With regards to game specific things that could increase/decrease your SBMM rating, we're deliberately not giving out this information as we want players to play the game as they normally would do and allow their ratings to adjust naturally.
Never allow the players to see their own SBMM, it will just bring toxicity.
The only thing the playerbase has to know is :
- the game has a working matchmaking
- you will play with and against players of your skill level
That's all they need to know and then enjoy balanced trials. Who cares to know if they are at the top or at the bottom of the system if the trials they get are fun and fair ?
-
Grade is not linked with the SBMM level. SBMM won't reset i guess, just grade to give you a "farm" objective.
-
haven't spent one cent since June 2020. I'm not happy with the game as it is, so i won't give money to support. If BHVR makes good decisions in the future i will see but for now, no way.

The main problem I have with it is not really the sweat squads or sweaty killers I'll end up going against (although I'm not exactly thrilled to have that every single game) it's more the lack of information the devs have given about what actually is a win by the MMR systems standards.
If I loop the killer all game and die but did no gens is that a win? If I only did gens and escaped but didn't do anything else is that a win? If I didn't catch anyone all game but got a 4k right at the last minute because of blood warden or NOED is that still a win? If the survivors escape with a key even though I was stomping them is that still a win? And there's the fact that for killer loads are divided on wether 12 hooks or 4 kills is a win. No one seems to really know or agree what is an actual win in Dbd, including the devs themselves.
Another small thing is that they won't show you what your MMR score actual is either. Its gonna be hard to know what to expect when you can't see your own score or even guess what it is when we don't know what it's win conditions are
I guess thee system calculation will be as easy as SPM (score per minute).
You do nothing (camp, roaming around etc...) = low SPM
You do something (gens, chase, unhook, hooking, injuring, healing etc...) = high SPM

SWF death squads: It's not fair. Why are we being punished just because we want to play with our friends.

Top killer mains: It's not fair. I put a lot of time and effort into this game to be good and now I'm being punished going against sweaty SWFs after SWFs.
How will I ever do my 50+ win streaks again??
____________________________________________________________________________
You're being matched against someone just as skilled as you. Sorry but no more lopsided matches for you.
My suggestion for both if you don't like it?? play less sweaty and maybe your SBMM will get lower.
I don't think so. All good players want SBMM.
Players that don't want it are mainly killers, especially red rank killers that clearly know they are top rank because they use cheap mechanics to win (i.e camping and tunneling).
1st, if the SBMM works great, those killers will be at the bottom of the SBMM rank system.
2nd, if at start they are at the top of the SBMM, they will face survivors that know what "gen rush against camper" means.
I really hope that the rank penalty for using camping and tunneling will be huge.
Those killers will have terrible trials and it will be well deserved. Developers implement a system that will get rid of all noob killers that have polluted the "high" ranks for far too long.

How do I know what is considered a “win” if not by how many kills I get as a killer, or if I escape as survivor?
Do I get a “Victory” notification in the post game screen?
No and you don't need to.
What's good with the new matchmaking is that no one will know at which rank he/she plays on, avoiding low skill mechanics. :D
Also not knowing if you won or not is a good thing i guess. Ppl won't be able to use the calculation system at their advantage.
As the "Grade" won't be linked to your SBMM level, there won't be any "skill indication" that other players can see and there won't be any reason to play badly. Being top Grade won't mean anything, it will just reward you with bloodpoints and well, it will just be grinding.
I'm sure devs have implemented a penalty when a killer is camping & tunneling. Killers won't know it but won't go up in SBMM playing like this :).
Same for survivors doing nothing or unhooking unsafely.
I really hope that noobs that have polluted the red rank matchmaking will stay at the bottom of the SBMM system. CBA playing against/with those players anymore. I will maybe enjoy DbD again :).

We have Killers complaining everyday about gen speeds and we have survivors complaining everyday about proxy-tunneling / face-camping. The entire player-base absolutely hates this aspect of the game, killers and survivors both.
Also, streamers have proven over and over again that you don't need to proxy-tunnel / face-camp to win games. The game can work without these specific tactics.
Yes, they have proven it BUT to do so you need to be good at chases and map control. You need to understand how the game mechanics work (divide the map to end up in a 3 gen rush). Well it involves many things :
- good observation skill
- know how to counter loops
- fast decisions making (good ones)
- Those 3 things need only one thing : to have a functioning brain (being smart)
What do we know about humanity ? Most of ppl have an IQ around 100 and are lazy. It means most of the ppl (around 80%) won't put the effort and won't even think about those things to improve their level in the game.
That's what distinguish players like Otz, TrueTalent, Ayrun etc... and most of the random guys that refuse to see that camping/tunneling is unhealthy for the game.
Honestly, gen rush doesn't even exist. If a killer is gen rushed, it's 100% its fault, it means the player didn't understand anything to how the game work.
When a survivor is camped, there is nothing he can do to prevent it.
--------------------------------------------------------------
For those crying about gen rush, even though it's not the subject here; a trial is divided in 3 phases.
1st phase : 5 gens left, huge area to control (for the killer). At this stage you cannot control the map, you are at a disadvantage, only thing to do is to divide the map with pressure and chase one or two survivors and get 1 to 2 hooks.
2nd phase : 3 gens left, area to cover is smaller. Trial is now balanced IF you properly divided the map. Continue the chases to take some hooks and apply a map pressure to end up in a 3 gens situation.
3rd phase : 1 gen left, area to cover is extremely small. You have the advantage and survivors cannot win IF you are in a 3 gen situation. Slug to win time and apply more pressure.
In all 3 phases, the most important is the gen/map control. You have to force them to finish the generators you want to be done. Don't let them finish the generators you selected to be the last ones in the 3rd phase. Downing survivors is NOT the priority, injure them and don't loose too much time to get a down. Apply gen pressure and deny the area you chose for the end phase.
If you have never understand what i have just written here, it means you are a terrible killer and that you didn't understand the game mechanics at all. 😊

You're using.. hexy's DbD tournament...
Where there were only like 3 teams that were ACTUALLY capable of competing at that level and the rest were simply there to have fun...
ok lol
Ye and who are you, "OK LOL" to state the skill level of those players ?
So 1st argument is : "SWF are too strong, this game is unbalanced"
When we prove you that you are wrong and that SWF still loose most of the trials : "Those SWF are low skill"
There is another tournament that had around the same results, the Asian tournament (Japanese if i remember correctly).
What will you say then ?
Oh and the 70% kill rate in red rank is balanced for you when 90% of the survivor playerbase don't play in SWF ?
The game is mainly played in soloQ/duoQ, it should be balanced around soloQ and duoQ.
Having a kill rate around 70% is clearly unhealthy for the game. Who cares about SWF when it's only 5% of the trials ?
-
@Gorik said:
While we are at it, lets make sure killers can't even touch you after you have been unhooked for 5 minutes just to be extra sure they can't tunnel you, and you then get 5 minutes of undisturbed gen work in, and if you are camped and tunnelled the Devs guarantee and insta ban for 1 month for the naughty killer and any survivor if tunnelled gets GOD mode activated so that they can be compensated with a free escape.
Then we need to balance it a bit so I propose to stop them dirty Gen rushers who complete 3 gens by the time the killer has 1 down, they should do it so when ever the killer is more then 32 metres from a hooked survivor, other survivors can only do Gens for 10 seconds before being forced to take a 10 second break, and if survivors blind the killer or even worse make a save on a picked up survivor then they have to remain idle for 20 seconds so the killer can catch up to the survivor who got off.
In fact bugger it, BHVR need to end the game as soon as it starts and give every player maximum emblems and blood points instantly.
And if you think face camping a Survivor whilst all of your Gens pop around you as killer is them being rewarded then your nuts, simple as that, plus killers are deducted emblem points for being to close to the hooked survivor as a "punishment" regardless of whether they are camping or being forced to chase another survivor around that area, tell me how that is fair?
Not enough emblems deducted as they succeed to be red rank being total potatoes in chasing/map control. So they just camp all the time, every game and still get to red ranks.
No one can force a killer to chase a survivor near the hook. The killer has the choice, it can force the survivors to stay on the hook camping them, it can force the survivors to die and have a bad trial tunneling but survivors can't be toxic towards a killer.
Survivors have no way to interact on the killer trial.
In DbD everything revolve around the killer choices and way to play. Period.

Don't get me wrong, I understand exactly Why this feature is desired. I realize the pros probably outweighs the cons here, but damn BHVR. It stings. Its like once or twice every match.
I hope something can be done. Thanks for listening to my feedback.
Without knowing the ping you play with makes your post totally "useless" (without being rude, didn't find another word).

killer was fun at the beginning, now it's just a sweatfest, all the time. It's really so aggravating that The devs in this game are so ignorant to what goes on when you're a high ranking killer.
There's too many overpowered survivor perks compared to killer perks, Some killer perk benefits are so horrible it's laugh worthy, they make you work so hard for the tiniest reward when you look at it.
Maybe if they actually balance out the way killer plays and adjust the maps so every chase isnt a loopathon, and get rid of bloodlust, it's just not fun gameplay for what it's supposed to be. I'm tired of playing spirit or some other killer that's strong, they don't actually take a look at why theres a small list of killers viaable in high ranks, it's cuz most suck eggs compared.
If you struggle against red ranks survivors, you are just playing way above your level considering that :

- 99% of red ranks survivors are total potatoes

This is shown in tournaments, and usually survivors have restrictions and they still win the majority of the time.

Survivors have small restrictions and they loose most of the trial, kill rate being above 50%, even 60% in some. 😂

Yes we do care about the game and we do care about hackers/cheaters ruining the games for others, and we do frequently ban - we have a team of specific people who do just that. And with the amount of posts we get with regards to people complaining that they've been game banned, I'm actually surprised when people come out and say "they don't ban people" because we clearly do.

Camping/Tunneling toxicity has been a huge subject since the game release. Old School players even invented the "face camping" term... It means a lot.
What have the developers done about it to permanently remove it from the game ? Nothing. I have an easy fix : when a survivor is hooked, the hook disappears (with the survivor on it) and reappears somewhere else, randomly on the map. Same as PH cage but without the "farthest from the killer".
Honestly, in 2021, Camping and Tunneling are used 90% of the time in red rank.
I constantly see red ranks killers that are terrible at chasing & map control combined and they are still red ranks. They just camped the first hook and kill the trial for this survivor and all the others. And YES, they are highly rewarded with it as they often end up with 25k bloodpoints and they succeed to go red rank while they are really bad at the game.
3 years ago, red rank killers had way more skill and it was way funnier to play as a survivor. Today it's a terrible experience. I have 1500h into the game, some of my friends have 3000h and they are all quitting the game, one by one.
Higher skill requirement to rank up would be healthy for the game, and it's where we find the fun. Staying minutes on a hook being camped in-between pressing left mc to do gens is not fun, it can't even be called "gameplay".
BHVR, be ware, when old school players are leaving the ship, it's sinking :). You will never be able to keep the game in a healthy state as new players won't stay, the current state is way too toxic.
