im so confused
-
to be fair i im rank 13 (i havent played a lot of killer for a while) and end up playing against lots of people people from red and purple ranks so the ranking system doesnt mean much to me. also rainbow 6 siege is incredibly broken but is considered a competitive game and the balancing in this isnt that bad.

If you use Wayback Machine and go to the DBD Gamepedia, Evan (Trapper) and Philip (Wraith) have seriously different backstories. Sally's (Nurse) is also slightly different I believe, but I prefer her current one.The core of Evan's is roughly the same, except that he personally fired or "made disappear" those that were caring for his father, Archie. Archie started mentally failing, but he didn't look like he was eating anything and wouldn't talk to anyone but Evan. Eventually, he just disappeared. Evan wasn't his enforcer in the explosion. He did it on his own. And he went and killed several neighbors. The rest is the same.
Same goes for Philip. The differences being we learn his boss's name (Azarov, hence his weapon being Azarov's Skull) who didn't slash the kid's throat, instead resorting to choking him to death, and Philip wasn't directly told by Azarov what he was doing. Then he took a crowbar and bashed Azarov's skull in until it is nothing more than a wet mass of red flesh (which doesn't exactly work with his weapon)
Sally's is mostly the same, except it doesn't mention the ambulance at the end and it has a few minor changes.
To be honest, they might not be official, but they were on there until Kenneth (Clown) came out, so... I'll consider them the official lore until proven wrong.
i dont like the wiki's version of the trapper. i liked him being his dads enforcer not an independent mass murderer. he seems more brutal to me as someone who would do anything for his farther without hesitation and mercy and became so use to it that he enjoyed it.

In my opinion, I think that anyone released in 2017 or later is perfectly fine, but earlier folks (Nea, Nurse, Lisa, Ace, and the original cast) could use some more detail.Should/Would the Devs ever go back and change their in-game backstories to be more fleshed out? What are some things you would like to see for specific characters?
i want more trapper. i love trapper.

Good grief just stop with the victim mentality here, you've got perks that can be really strong if used right so of course they have to have a weakness. You were never supposed to be able to use all 4 obsession perks together so that's a really bad argument to use.I use Rancor all the time and it's not a bandaid fix and if use right works wonders even against someone running OoO. Instead of making excuses or complaining about something how about learn how to actually counter the things you complain and make excuses about.
i just dont like how mikes perks dont go well together.

Do you know those lights when you enter the basement? That's the Entity. She's not weak to light. The generators are just Her way of keeping the Survivors hopeful, make them believe that they can escape, so that She may feed on their hope."Her"? As in, capital H? Is Entity your god or something?
Anyways, just because the French name for Entity was female, it doesn't mean Entity doesn't have a gender. "Entite" sounds like the word Entity, hence why it may have been picked.
Well, She is the goddess of the Fog. In-game, She is everyone's goddess.
So, you are religious? Are you a member of a Entity cult or something?
Entity is not a goddess. THEY are a malevolent being for sure. Who may or may not be fully sapient. Don't honor them with the "goddess" label. Hell, Entity is more of a "it" if anything else.
They/it are a monster who wants to consume our world and does not care at all for anyone who gets involved in its games. You could even say they are a Lovecraftian monster.
I also have no idea what you've smoked when you say "everyone's goddess". None of the Survivors know about the Entity. Killers don't know much either.
If you are referring to offerings, which might not make sense Survivor-side because Baker knows little about the Entity and he's one of the oldest Survivors, then you could be offering them to a malevolent being, not a benevolent angel.
Please escape this Lovecraftian fetish you have. It is very concerning.
''Vigo is often mentioned in descriptions and the names of Unlockables.
He was an Inventor and a Researcher. He extensively studied The Entity, especially its biological and organic aspect, alongside its Realms, to the point that he was able to create new contraptions from The Fog, both mechanical and magical.
It was potentially him who created the Black Lock as it is known that it was not created by The Entity.
It is known that he owned a Laboratory hidden somewhere in the Realms of The Entity.
It is unknown what happened to him other than that he is no longer a Survivor in the Entity's Realm.'' the dead by daylight wiki's page on Vigo.
The Killers are made to do the Entity's bidding, which is to relentlessly hunt and kill the Survivors. Many Killers do not do so willingly, although some are happy to sate their Bloodlust. Some have to be tortured over endless years to be coerced into doing what The Entity wants. The Entity is ever patient and the torture ever more severe. Eventually they all cave in and start the hunt for the Entity.
The sacrifice is essential for The Entity, with the Killers being rewarded by their master for successfully sacrificing and only the best Killers being granted the boon to slaughter Survivors on the spot.
''The Entity actively recruits its Killers by sensing their killing potential in their mortal selves, before corrupting them into committing violent or evil acts. It is possible for it to change its mind during the process of converting the human into a new Killer and choosing someone else instead if it senses greater potential in them, as happened with Rin Yamaoka and her father, the latter having originally been chosen to become a Killer.'' a part of the dbd Wiki's page on the entity about its relationship with the killers under the sub-title ''killers''.

It's because of the rampant pseudo-intellectualism that is spread on here everyday and a particular twitch streamer that cries about d-strike all the time. It's based on the belief that survivors can't have any perks that are actually beneficial to survival. People that play killer all the time want to be in the "power role", which means 4king every single match and deluding themselves into thinking that they are "skilled".
You can see the constant crying on here all the time about how all means of survival is "toxic" or a "crutch". You're only supposed to run in straight lines and not be able to stealth at all. This extreme entitlement and idiocy manifested itself into the creation of legion, which has completely destroyed the game for me.
Found the survivor main. Killers SHOULD be in the power roll, it's a [BAD WORD] asymmetrical horror game for [BAD WORD]'s sake. That doesn't mean they expect to 4k every time, it means they want a game that is fun and balanced. It is not balanced yet, I don't care how bad survivors want to believe it is. We don't think survivors need no perks, but that some of their perks are unfair BS. DS lets people just jump off the killer's shoulder because they hit space bar and leaves the killer stunned for several seconds? How does that make sense? And that's really the main one killers complain about so I don't even understand how you can say we don't want survivors to have any perks that are beneficial, that's just a flat out lie. Honestly the biggest problem isn't even mechanics, it's maps. Some maps are fair. I like Macmillon and Swamp and Crotus Prenn. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but I never feel like I got [BAD WORD] in the ass by the devs, just outplayed or played well. But if I'm on a farm map or Lery's, Haddonfield, or Yamaoka Estate? I feel like the map is [BAD WORD] me way harder than the survivors ever could.
i want map changes most. i often end up on cold wind where i cant see a foot in front of my face and the Claudette i was chasing vanished because she to a left turn that i couldnt see because the scratch marks screwed me over again. survivors can complain all they like but if we cant see the person in front of us then something needs a fix.

“Killers can’t accept they suck”
”Survivors can’t accept they suck”This is the problem right here. You guys think one sided. Last time I check I didn’t play the game just to play one side. If that was the case then the dev should make it where you have to pay to play killers and survivors separately.
If you play both sides you would understand each side pain.
IMO
Playing survivor is relaxing
Playing Killer is stressfuli play both sides equally and can agree with what you say. i dont even want buffs but i feel targeted by these guys. there complaining about all killers because some want buffs.

As a Dwight main this hurts, since I actually do generators and help out my teammates when I can. If I do get tunneled I use bond to prevent screwing over my teammates. The only time I would try to get attention is when another team member is getting tunneled because I would rather die in their place.
As for the OP, I'd tend to try to go after fresh targets. However if someone annoyed me a lot or was just being a dick... Well, if I WANT you to die, you WILL die. No excuses, no equivocations, no crying.
That or I go after the first person I see if they aren't hiding very well (especially after a unhook), though if I see someone else maybe I might go after them. I don't particularly target survivors on their own, just the player behind the survivor.
I don't know if you're on console or PC but all the Dwights I see on PS4 hide in lockers, screw their team over, try to be good but end up failing, or they're trying too hard to get my attention. If you're a great Dwight then awesome, set that standard. And I actually don't like the character himself, as in the backstory, he sounds like a tool who desperately wants to fit in which clashes with my nonconformist lifestyle, he's not a bad person I just don't like him.
Unless he's wearing that awesome blue pizza hoodie or the Vigo outfit, he actually looks less like a tool in those outfits.
PS4 Dwight here, the only time I would actually go into lockers is for the memes or if I have to afk for some reason. Otherwise I'd rather be as far away from killers as possible. Dwight does seem like a tool but not in my hands 8-) I unfortunately cannot change the way other people play Dwights, I can only hope I don't get killed because someone assumed all Dwights were the same.
I feel the same way. I’m (obviously) a Meg main and the age old “Meg main, big brain” is true for most players who play Meg, they have an IQ of about 3000 when it comes to altruistic plays and fixing generators. They are just useless to the team. I however always contribute to my team and not linger around doing nothing. Most players expect Claudette’s to play like OchiDo or Nea’s to be either urban evading or play like pro-jukers. It’s just a stigma for the characters.
all megs i play against are stupid and stupidly altruistic but do are most survivors im up against. if i get my way and hook someone in basement im pretty much guarantied a 4k. please survivors, change your ways. as someone who plays killer and survivor equally, it hurts to play against stupid survivors.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnLB_lCoNgE&t=2s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1LP4XlpBTESince this change doesn't really affect self-care in your games, it might be the wrong view to look even at the self-care component, since (nearly) everyone is running it. The only different thing would be that someone would have a different perk, while you also have a different perk, perhaps 4 anti-loop tools?
self care is just a perk that annoys me. on killer its delaying the inevitable (self care doesnt effect the amount of kills i get that much) and as a survivor i dont use it (my friends love it btw) because i use bond (with every other dwight perk) to find people easier and am probably swf. its just something that is more of an annoyance or a waste of a perk slot. just bring a medkit there usually on the blood web and they heal faster.
-
@AlwaysInAGoodShape said:
@cymerSelf-Care
Nice idea, but I am afraid you didn't understand what these perks really do:
Self-Care enables you to heal yourself. Why is that so strong and got nerfed? Because you no longer relies on other to heal you. They can work on gens, totems, distract the killer. Not half of your team loses time to find each other and heal. Faster healing won't compensate for being able to work on 4 things simultaneously.I understand what these perks really do. Let me explains what self-care(or the lack of it) really does:
The lack of Self-Care and reliance on needing others to heal you is an anti-lower survivor count mechanic. It makes healing harder for lower-survivor counts due to- Needing someone else to heal you, which requires someone to have available time to know your location decreases as people die. This makes people more dependant on the initial push.
- Healing by definition becomes less profitable for lower survivor count teams as it extra borrowed time in % with generator efficiency drops tremenduously for every death survivor.
- Requiring someone else's location is an SWF rewarding mechanic.
So not only is the lack of self-care:
- Pro SWF
- Anti-low survivor count teams
- Making the Initial Push problem worse
- Making healing nearly impossible at 2 or 1 surviving survivors
This is literally the opposite of what we want to see in this game. If everyone would run self-care in their basic kit than that would remain to keep healing balanced, due to perks that help you heal others give superior healing speeds to people (We'll make it), where as Selfcare would only limit the time to need to find someone else, which is obsolete at hooks and which isn't even beneficial when you don't know where they are.
Hex: Ruin
Hex: Ruin is taken to increase the action window of a killer and slow down the gen progression. You either have to power through or waste time to look for the totem and cleanse it (usually behind the gen or you spawn next to it). Your Ruin removes every counterplay from the survivors, random skill checks penalize new players and buff veterans. I read nothing from only increase the progression on a great skill check, so the game will be faster on higher level. And it will be an indirect Nerf to Freddy.
- SWF's are the most likely people to dismantle ruin and waste the lowest amount of time searching it.
- Higher tier players disable Ruin the fastest after that
- Lower tier players disable or never get to disable the hex ruin perk, which they will encounter in nearly every single of their games.
The new Hex Ruin allows you to delay the regression of the Ruin Skillcheck. Only if a high tier player is able to hit no less than 10 Perfect Skill-checks will the new ruin predominantly target lower tier players, but lower tier players who fail a lot of skill-checks will also be the quickest to no longer having to endure the effects.
Your Ruin removes every counterplay from the survivors
What you call counter play is nothing more than bad totem spawns and this too is an issue, because this basically wastes a perk or let's it have more effect on the game than it should be (and depending on maps like the swamp would incredibly increase it's power).
Or in other words: your definition of counter-play basically is the problem itself and creates very inconsistent scenario's.Other mentions
DS =\= NOED they are no brothers they are different as day and night!
They are brothers of being the most hated perks. I don't get what you're getting at? Let's take a poll and ask survivors their most hated perk? Well, that will be NOED. Let's ask the same to killers and they'll say Decisive...
Or can you name a different most hated perk?
i hate self care as a killer. i dont think it should be built in like the maker of the discussion thinks.

Give him normal terror radius at tier 2 since his as trong as a trapper in that form, so M&A wouldn't make him bull$hit to play agains. As strong as trapper? Is trapper supposed to be a strong killer?
Myers is fine, just learn how to play as and against him.
Also he is not in the top 3 by a long shot. Nurse, spirit, billy, huntress and hag heavily mogs him to oblivion.
In as strong as trapper i meant he have the same speed and lunge, so he should have the same terror radius too but it's fookin 12 meters smaller. At tier one he basically have -2 meters terror radius ffs (said trapper cuz hes the template of normal killers). And about the other stuff, no there is no counter to him doing the no terror radius sheet ulness you're a nolifer playing this game for 2500+ hours of course, or the RNG gods granted you a map where he sucks (like swamp). Hag is allso bullshit tho everyone hates her.
the trapper is strong if you master him or are low rank, for me its a bit of both if you consider rank 10 low. myres and trapper are nothing alike.

''just a little bit'' is used for ruin not for nerfs. i know you were just trying to make a reference but still. ruin.

i have 4ked the last 17 games today just using trapper and basement (this is in rank 11 btw). im neutral in this, i play killer and survivor equally. it would be nice to have gens take longer but it would become boring for survivors.
-
i have called a camper for going to the other side of the map to check on a gen, walking back after they got unhooked and following some scratch marks to the survivor that i hooked. i didnt even know whos scratch marks they were. survivors definitions of camping and tunneling are broken. also camping is ok as long as the survivor can be rescued. as a someone who prefers killer but play more survivor, i can say that survivors who farm are worse then killers who camp. im sorry i your camped but learn to live with it because its not going to stop and shouldnt be forced to stop.

I agree, the only times I can still get survivors if they manage to get to the gates is thanks to the trapper. He is the only killer that can hit multiple survivors from anywhere he is.
That thing you said about regressing the gates is pretty cool tbh.
thank, im a trapper main to.

it isn't a big problem but i think its a problem. i think exit gates are open to fast. i have thought it over and i'm not trying to be bias (is that the word), even though i'm probably going to come across that way. they get done to fast in my opinion. i have thought of 2 solutions that could work.
1. just make it slower
2. when a survivor stops opening the gate it starts to regressesi don't care if none of these ideas get implemented because there are many more problems but i thought i would say it. this is just a discussion and not a very meaningful one so sarcastic and annoyed comments are just unneeded (i'm only putting this in because i'm expecting them). what do you think because that's the point of a discussion.
yep example the swamp map. the only killer who can get across in time is billy but the problem is even as fast as he is. the gates open at one end or your too fast to rush inbetween due to the survivor knowing your trying to catch them inbetween that was months ago like 6 i remember having that problem. other killers cant get across the maps in time depending. i barely play these days i just cant tolerate the over all bullshit imbalance and devs pandering to survivors. example this whole legion crap where he cant do the business to kill. then why in the [BAD WORD] did you create the killer? anyway back on topic the game is far too rng based totem placements hatch. and then not to mention hatch standoff. the gate is just one of many issues. i just read the forums from time to time to see if anything positive towards killer changes but it never does lol
he isnt much of a killer if he cant kill is he. from what i see killers never get positive attention. they either get the wrong things changed or they get nerfed. i had a game on coldwind the other day were i only got 1 kill before the last gen was done and another after the last gen and i only got that kill because of noed and camping and then my noed gets destroyed because it spawned right in front of an exit gate so when i go over to the gate its wide open and the survivors were tea-bagging me. ######### was i supposed to do in that situation, hit one and hope there to dumb to leave. it was stupid. that whole game was an example of most things wrong with the game but im not going to list them here.

A lot of these ideas would skyrocket survivor death rates and severely lower escape rates. It's a great way to kill the game that's for sure. You either build for end game or you don't, that's your choice. The game shouldn't be changed to compensate for your refusal to do so.
Exit gates are fine in my opinion although they should have more randomized spawns on all the maps.
(Edit) typos
i disagree with you on the spawn location. i think they should both spawn on the same side because having to walk to the other side of the map to check on that gate and everyone escapes through the other is very annoying. the killer is never going to win in that situation. i also think that if a survivor stops opening the gate its progress should slowly go down but not enough that it will be 0 by the time the killer comes back. can you now see my reasoning.

Here's the changes I would make:- 1 Exit Gate, 1 Hatch
- When all gens are powered, both activate and can be opened.
- When all gens are powered, the exit gate is shown to both the survivors and the killer. The hatch is not.
- Both the gen and the hatch can be opened at the same progression rate.
- The hatch does not make its normal sound until it has been fully opened.
- If there is only one survivor remaining, the hatch can be opened by that survivor if found regardless of how many gens have been done.
Thoughts?
i think 2 exit gates are good but they should always be on the same side and the hatch is good as it is. also i still believe in my points from earlier.

It’s whatever man. I will politely say that I think there are far more serious issues that need fixing first.i did say there are other problems but i chose this one because its not that controversial within the community so i thought i would get a good discussion going.

The fact that RNG is such a factor in spawn locations is silly. Very different situation if they are right beside each other or on opposite ends.what does RNG mean.
Random number generation.
Basically just when success in games is affected by luck rather then skill. Other examples are escaping Freddys dreamworld and removing the Pigs traps.
The more RNG the less competitive the game.
thank you very much.

Increase staring at more progress bars! What a wonderful idea. Just what this game needs. More time to stare at progress bars so you can reliably 4k.can you read or do you not speak English properly. i said sarcasm was unneeded and yet you still made this comment.

use remember me, blood warden if you want to slow down the end gameyes but they take up perk slots and its only a minority of the game. i do use noed ,ill give you that, but i would still prefer to use those slots on other perks, especially tracking perk.

I'd like it if the status on the gates slowly depleted when you let go.i did say that.

i dont like laggy hits and the bad hit boxes but there are worse problems that need dealing with and most of them are for killers (i think). the game isnt easy to balance but from what i have seen killers get the worst of it. coldwinds corn fields are painful (at least in my own experience), and pallets are to common, gens get done to fast, exit gates are opened to fast etc. so if i havent proved that there are worse problems then tell me. i am a bit biases because i prefer killer but i play much more survivor and the only problem i get is lag.
-
killers also camp if survivors are overly altruistic or its end game with no kills. i know this isnt what you suffered from but they're valid reasons to camp.

Why is it that killer gets 4 perks, bloodlust, and the basement? What does the survivor get? Just 4 perks, I’m trying not to complain but we need some nerfs/buffspallets, claudette, windows, hatch, ds, toolboxes, exit gate progress being very quick, 2 exit gates even when progression being quick, pallet loops, flash lights, the list goes on. the basement shouldn't be be on your list and bloodlust is to prevent pallet looping. your wrong to think that killers have the upper hand because we dont. were always rushing to stop generator progress and chase down survivors both at the same time and there are 4 survivors to worry about. ruin and noed a pretty much essential because gens get done too fast and end games are tough because , again, exit gates get done way too fast but guess what, totem spawns are bs, dont tell me you have never spawned in next to a lit totem because your probably lying. im not being sarcastic and im not being hostile im just trying to make you see where you wrong.

XxAtomicAlfiexX said:they did it. they fixed gen-rushing. how could they. i only recently started doing it. if you don't know what i'm on about the then you probably haven't seen the new killers perks. one of them makes it so you can't Dwight gen-rush without having the killer know about it (unless there a potato). it doesn't make it impossible to gen-rush, it just makes it riskier.
When multiple survivors are on one generator they are repair that generator faster, yes. However, it is more efficient to split up, which is how folks gen rush. If you have two survivors on one generator the killer can saunter over and apply pressure to two people so ideally only the other two people will be repairing. The "gen rush" is really all four survivors on different generators. If you find one person all three of their buddies are working away while you chase the one survivor.
The perk can stop super repairs, but such a small number if players try to leader stack that it's effect will actually be negative. Since the perk encourages you to split up, people will be repairing more generators at one time. If anything, this perk will increase gen rushing for a while.
thanks for the more in depth description because i didnt know thats what gen-rushing meant. well damn, that perk seemed good at 1st but now it seems like self sabotage.

it was a joke im not lying. please believe this stranger you think is a huge idiot. also i meant dwight rushing (not the actual term) which is when you have leader an prove thy self. also i am the mistake XD.
oh ok just next time if you DO make a mistake blaming it on something else rather than accepting it will hurt your reputation
Blame it on the booze too.
I post all sorts of weird things when I am drinking.
And nobody can blame you because being drunk gives you a free pass to post anything! It's in the ToS I am sure.
- im to young to drink.
- it was all sarcasm and me being mistaken on the definition of gen-rushing.
im sorry i didnt put "this was a huge joke" in all caps at the end but that would have ruined it.
