  • Guide: Don't play it because it's bad

  • BHVR, why are you being so stingy with the cakes? This is ridiculous. What a crappy way to celebrate 10 years.

  • I think this is the worst event I have ever personally participated in in this game.

  • No it's not it sucks

  • This killer is so unfun to go against it's making me miss having Ghouls every match. Having to stealth so often is so goddamn boring. It's like playing in June 2016 but worse because it isn't scary like it might have been back then.

  • Oni's power runs out SO FAST, too fast imo. Also idk if this is for everyone but specifically on Spirit, survivor injury sounds sound WAY closer than they actually are by a lot. I thought a Feng was right next to me and she was like 16 meters away.

  • "Why do survivors DC all the time?" killer players ask.

  • Survivor is the least fun it's been in awhile imo. It's such a drag, I don't even want to play the game anymore. No one does gens, no one knows how to face any of the killers, way too many people wasting time doing boons instead of gens. It's the worst. I have played 3 games today and I am probably done with DBD until the next time 2v8 is back, it is that unfun to play in solo queue. Idc how many good perks there are, you can only take 4 and you have to rely on your braindead team to be useful which they never are. No one knows how to play the game anymore and it isn't even their fault because there are no tutorials for anything useful!

  • Pretty sure getting in the way is their entire purpose.

  • I agree about the flashlight quest. I had to do the grab instead and that took multiple tries and even then the "grab" I got didn't even give me the full grab, it canceled the animation but still counted thankfully. The aura reading was fine, idk if it will encourage all aura builds any more than the game already does on certain killers. I disagree about banners and badges being tied to completing quests. I think it's cool to reward people for playing the game more.

  • Every new iteration of 2v8 has been worse than the last. This one feels especially unfun on survivor and since killer queues are a million hours long I don't even get to play that side. Like you need so many more survivors than killers to make 2v8 work so idk why they insist on making survivor less and less fun every single time.

  • Yes but the way they describe it is "unlimited range" or something don't they? so it seems they are setting a range of motion somewhere.

Edit: They said "turn rate limit" my bad. Unlimited is too sensitive, I have no idea where my flicks are gonna land anymore.

  • Take the headphones off, turn on YouTube and watch 2-3 minutes of a video. That's what I tend to do.

  • Heck no. The original version was god awful. The second version I feel like was pretty much fine, I'm not sure why they butchered it so hard for the newest iteration. I would go back to that second version and see how it plays for awhile because it was definitely the closest to balanced out of the 3 versions.

  • I would love this so much!

  • On both survivor and killer I will randomly get sent into matches where I have 100+ ping when ordinarily I have 30 ping. There is something funky going on with the matchmaking and it isn't necessarily VPNs.

  • I don't even want to play survivor until they nerf this POS. It's so unfun.

  • I encountered the second bug today. How are the Twins not killswitched? They are actually unplayable right now.

yes kinda. the decoy snowmen are the ones that will explose when you come too close to them - the other side gets a notification. You have to hit these snowmen. The ones that moving around or remind standing when you come close to them, these are real snowmen.

like I said, it is a bit confusing because in the end, it is just a guessing game which ones are the ones you have to hit with a snowball.

    That's very annoying.

The absolute pandemonium this would cause would be worth it to see

What pandemonium? Survivors simply wouldn't play. You'd be sitting in the lobby all day. I don't even wanna play with it at 14%.

  • I am not even sure there should be a bleed out timer at all. All it does is encourage slugging people to death.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/432139/remove-the-final-mori

You realize that slugging for the 4k was extremely common even before the finisher mori was introduced right? Fixing it is not going to automatically fix slugging lol.

If this really bothers you that much then just run Unbreakable…

It's way more common now and you're lying if you say it isn't.

  • Killers are way bigger jerks with this stupid final mori crap, I hate it so much. Get rid of it.

Well not tunneling would prevent you facing it 4 times so maybe just try that.

No, it wouldn't. Survivors just do nothing for 60 seconds so even if you downed and hooked someone else, even two other people, they'd still have it and hit you with it. Someone else being hooked should deactivate it, period.

No problem, hope it helps. Here is my log if that helps as well.

I restarted and still have 0 points.

  • dbdevent.png

Here is a photo. You can see I own the Knight cosmetic "Open Heart" but have 0 points in the top right corner.

  • I am also experiencing this issue as are other people. I got the Knight's body cosmetic but still have 0 points.

  • This makes me nervous that I'm missing more cosmetics that I am not noticing because I have so many. I am for sure missing frosty eyes, orange eyes (hallowed eyes? Idk the name but I know I had them on Hillbilly) and pumpkin head Nurse.

  • I hate this, I hope it is a bug and it gets fixed soon.

  • This is such a whiney entitled post. Killers aren't getting killswitched just because you don't like them guys, which is basically what you're asking for here considering a minor sound bug is in no way game breaking.

Actually they announced that they would eventually have cross progression on Switch.

Despite this being announced years ago, there is currently no cross progression on switch.

This is an especially massive gut punch for me because I bought the Switch version for the sole purpose of playing elsewhere with my progress.

On topic, as mentioned before Cross Progression is something that's simply not in their hands. I don't know about Nintendo and Microsoft, but Sony has a history of insisting their console is the master race and that if they play with other consoles than their consoles are at risk at getting robot Aids or something.

No excuse for Steam Deck though, really should have been a thing by now.

Sony has cross progression with Destiny 2 and other games though and if Microsoft has no issue then that leads me to believe BHVR doesn't care enough to even attempt to make it happen.

So, when killers couldn't hook someone, because they used some of the hooks previously, they didn't do it themselves? But still you needed help from DEVs, even though it happened so rarely. Hypocrytical killer-main mentality never stops to amaze me. "YoU dOn'T uNdeRstAnd, it'S dIfFeReNt".

There is nothing stopping survivors from doing specific gens. The killer cannot hook a survivor anywhere they want because of the wiggle timer. These are not comparable situations.

    Ah yes the buzzword, sensitive.

I guess you never felt frustrated losing in a game or sport and always were the gracious loser "taking it on the chin".

Newsflash, humans are emotional beings. It's psychology and will always happen in all kinds of aspects of live.

Instead of ignoring the potential influence you can have on other and keeping that in mind, they should just scurry off out of any aspect that might negatively influence them.

Maybe people should think twice about how their output could be interpreted before doing something to feel better about themselves. Because "i said it because I thought I was being polite" is in my eyes feeding oneselves ego feeling better about themselves doing what they THINK was helpful to their surroundings.

For example, i am tall and thought I should help people in grocery stores reach something from the top shelves. But often they don't even want any help and me offering or straight up doing it is nothing else but me forcing upon them to make me feel better because i did something "good" without even thinking about the others person's wishes.

But unlike in the grocery store where i can ask the person if they want help or, to get back to DBD, how they feel, it is better to simply do nothing than to force ones own values (here politeness) upon the other party.

And yes I know that going to such lengths is way over the top in the world of online anonymity but hey it's my form of selfsatisfaction using the same standards as in real life.

You understand you’re going off like this because someone told you you played well right?

  • @Veinslay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3218447#Comment_3218447

Would anyone say a football team played really well if they scored zero touchdowns and lost?

Not really comparable. DBD is very RNG based and asymmetrical at its core with a ton of random elements on each side that you won’t know about. With football, the field is the same, the rules are the same, etc. You can get 8 hooks in DBD and no kills. That doesn’t mean you played badly.

  • Seems that someone’s reaction to a “wp” says more about their own thinking than about the person saying it. A killer can 4K and still think you played well. Survivors can all escape and still think you played well. As long as they weren’t BMing or being toxic in game then I’d take the “wp” as genuine and move on.

  • @Rovend said:

I have not been in these so called "games where the survs pop 3/4 gens in the first chase" not even once in my entire dbd playtime.

The only times i can remember of a similar situation are when killers were purposely AFK or the killer was very new to the game and could not use their character properly.

Do you know why i havent been in these situations?

Because that kind of play are usually reserved to high MMR matches where you cant possibly reach unless you play a good swf team.

As current MMR works, it is way easier to up your mmr as killer than soloq survs. So expect constant SWF teams as you must have passed the point where you could get matched with normal soloQ players like me.

Perfectly explaining why MMR is bad.

  • I hate MMR, solo queue is rarely fun, killer is fun more often but sometimes it’s not fun at all. I basically come back to this game for a couple weeks at a time, then stop for several months. I’m in the middle of my 2 weeks right now. I’ll surely get fed up soon and leave again. If the 6.3.0 PTB changes come to pass I probably won’t ever come back.

  • October 1st and this is still happening. I did enough in one match to finish the ritual but got no progress on it at all. Come on BHVR fix this crap. PC/Steam, Groaning Storehouse map.

  • What they should actually do is add comms to survivor lobbies so every group has the same benefit, then balance around that.

  • 45 seconds is a long time, 11-22 seconds is not. If they leave it as is it will very much make life a lot harder for some of the weaker killers without affecting the strong ones nearly as much.

  • The idea is good, the numbers are very bad and desperately need tweaking. I think 60 seconds base and 30 max with perks. 11-22 seconds is too fast. Slugging when used right is meant to put pressure on survivors. It used to mean 2 survivors weren’t on gens (1 dying, 1 picking up) and a 3rd being chased. The second survivor not being necessary already takes a ton of the pressure off but then they potentially only need 11-22 seconds to get up? Idk why the devs went from 4 minute bleed outs to 22 second infinite pick ups. That’s soooo extreme. If they tweak the numbers and perks then I think the change itself will be fine but they can’t implement it as is.

  • I try to play “nice” as far as the survivor rule book is concerned and when I lose I still get people teabagging and flash lighting me at the exit so like, why should I play nice if survivors are gonna be rude to me anyway? I will still play nice because that’s just how I play but I can see why other killers have decided to just play to win because survivors are gonna be rude to them either way so might as well try to win. 🤷‍♀️

Going after the unhooker isn’t a cheap hit btw it’s just strategy. You can’t complain about literally everything killers do.

The balance in this game is bad and playing “nice” isn’t particularly viable. It’s why I barely play it anymore. I play for like 2 weeks and then abandon it for several months. I’m certain I’m not the only “nice” killer who has stepped back from this game because it doesn’t feel fun to play anymore. BHVR keeps adding perks and killers to an already unbalanced game and it just gets worse and worse, meaning more “nice” killers will either leave or change playstyles.

I'm giving up on DBD. Let me tell you a story, I started playing DBD around October last year and I really enjoyed the game. However once I got to the higher ranks (silver and gold) I started getting games full of salty survivors that had clearly a few hundred at least hours on the game meanwhile I had around 10. I did not let that stop though, I continued playing and (mostly) enjoying the game...Then the MMR was introduced. It almost immediately decreased the fun I got out of the game. I decided around when the Ringu chapter was announced that I would take a break (due to lack of fun and just burn out) from the game I planned to have a maybe 2 or 3 week break, that was a few months ago now. and finally yesterday I decided to play the game again to see if the game had improved at all, the first match I played (at Ash rank 1 btw) I went a toxic SWF with all matching outfits, sent me to the game, with flashlights then proceeded to play as toxic as possible( they were also mostly gold and silver rank). I decided 'Hey it was just one game, surely the rest cant be bad right?' Of the around ten games I played, only one I had a positive experience. I really tried to give this game a second chance but, the game is just not getting better and the fun has slowly been sucked out of the game for me. So I decided to just stop. I really didn't want to do this seeing as how fun I had playing with some of my friends but, I just can't anymore. Opinions on the current state of the game? I'm curious to see if anyone else had a similar experience to me

    Okay a few things.

    1) Ranks don’t mean anything. You mentioned SBMM so you know that that is how people are ranked. The gold and silver rankings are just for BP awards and just mean someone has played a certain amount since the 13th of the month and that’s it.

    2) I think we misuse the word “toxic” in this community. What does toxic mean? Poisonous or very harmful. Playstyles are not harmful. They can be annoying or unfun or whatever but they aren’t going to maim or kill you. If they harassed you in the chat after then that is toxic but playing in an obnoxious way is just that, obnoxious.

    3) If you are super new to the game, it can definitely take awhile to develop that game sense and play well. Because the SBMM is bad, you can definitely get matched with people you shouldn’t be playing against which can suck the fun out. You need to accept that that is a possibility and either play anyway, or move on to a different game unless/until SBMM is fixed or axed.

    4) Taking breaks from this game is a good thing. Like 80% of my hours are from 2018. Since then, I’ve put maybe 100 hours in each year in small chunks a few months apart because I quickly get burnt out and frustrated and stop having fun. So far I’ve always come back to check it out again but it never lasts that long, and that’s okay. You don’t need to constantly play it, you can and should take breaks to enjoy other games!

    5) I’m sorry your experience has been bad. I feel like SBMM is awful for new players. I’m crap at Huntress but I still shouldn’t be versing brand new players, it feels awful. I hate getting stomped but I hate even more doing the stomping. I always try to let them do a few gens and I work hard not to tunnel even if someone keeps running into me, but I also don’t want to let them win and raise their SBMM even more so they end up versing even better players. It’s a crap shoot and I hate it. Hours played should factor into SBMM.

Best of luck to you my friend. I’m sorry your experience has been bad, I hope it either improves or you find a game that is more fun for you.

  • Absolutely not, she would be broken OP.

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

And killers demanding more buffs, more slowdowns and more survivor nerfs.

Even a killer few hours can destroy a mid to low SBMM solo team. Solo players will never escape a trial unless it's the killers first game.

That has nothing to do with killers being OP and everything to do with solo queue needing serious buffs to raise it closer to SWF levels. Then killers could be buffed accordingly. As it stands, killers are too strong against solo and oftentimes too weak against SWF. When the difference between the lowest level and highest level is so huge, balancing is a nightmare. This is why stuff like Kindred needs to be base kit because it gives solo queue survivors similar information to what SWFs have. Same with little icons being on the survivor portraits to show if they’re on a gen or healing or cleansing a totem or being chased or just messing around doing nothing. This is all info SWFs already have so giving the same info to solo queue would bring them up closer to SWF and mean killers could be stronger without completely stomping solo queue.

Playing against Dead Hard all the Time where Survivor get a 2nd Chance they shouldnt have

And seeing the Gen Pop every 20 Seconds so u dont even a Chance to defend them isnt Fun

Fun is if both Team have the same Chance at doing something and this isnt the Case in this Game because it is heavly Survivor sided and the Devs buffing Survivor even more there was no reason to Add Boon Totems and buffing Dead Hard

Yeah the reason is because im Not Good lol ok than PLZ tell me what i can do when the Match Starts and 3 Gens Pop in 30 seconds and i just get 1 Hook? U cant do anything about it Gens are to fast if u play against sweaty SWF Teams

Assume everyone has Dead Hard unless/until you see them use another exhaustion perk. Wait to swing for a second, try to bait the DH, etc. You will get better at it with practice and see it isn’t that big a deal. For gens you need to try to pressure them. Run perks like Hex Ruin or Pop Goes the Weasel for slow down, something like Bitter Murmur or BBQ & Chilli so you can find survivors, or even Whispers. Sloppy Butcher is good to slow down healing.

And remember, if you are losing games, your MMR will drop so your games should theoretically get easier over time. Just use the hard ones as a chance to learn. Watch what the survivors do at loops, etc.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/311393/the-killer-should-play-how-he-wants-without-being-shamed-for-it-but-the-shaming-seems-incentivized

This argument never seems to end, so i'll just give the usual reply. A survivor who rushes gens is not preventing the killer from playing. a tunneled survivor will only earn some points in two categories, at best. When he is camped, he will simply stop doing anything. As a camped survivor, you won't be able to heal (others or yourself), repair gens, cleanse totems, bless totems, use pallets, vault windows, stun the killer, escape the chase, engage in a chase, save others with a flashlight, unhook, open exit gates. You are DENIED everything, and cannot plat anymore. As a killer, that cannot happen. You will always be able to hit survivors, chase them, down them, chase them, hook them, destroy pallets, snuff totems, use your ability. And that's a whole lot different. That's why killers who camp are (rightfully) called toxic, because they are. And people who can only play in SWF groups are just the same, but they still don't have the chance of denying the killer anything, from scoring points to simply MOVING. Now, if this game was something along the lines of "stand still simulator", there wouldn't be a problem with it. But for something that you need to buy, all of that should not happen. And the players who allow it are just as much part of the issue as the devs who refuse to address it properly.

It isn’t toxic to play to win. Some survivors seem to think the killer owes them a fun game/it’s the killer’s job to ensure the survivors have fun. Yet, survivors have no problem ruining the killer’s fun. Sure, the killer can still play, but if the fun is sucked out, does it matter? It is not the killer’s job to make the game fun for you, that’s on you and your teammates. Some killers actively try to make the game more fun and that’s great, but they don’t have to and it isn’t toxic if they decide to play optimally instead. It‘s just such an entitled mindset. You are not owed free escapes, loops, gens, etc. The idea that playing optimally is toxic is just ridiculous imo and completely misunderstands what toxicity actually is. Optimal play can be annoying and unfun, but it isn’t toxic.
