If you down someone, there is one other person left, you don't know where they are, and you decide to go after them instead of hooking the first person, you are wasting someone else's time because the thought of a 3k is a legitimate nightmare to you that deserves nothing but pity.
You're officially wasting more of my time than the average survivor and quite frankly I'm done.
Keep advocating for people to waste the time of other people for no reason.
Do not bother replying to this unless you want me to just copy and paste that sentence, because that is all this comes down to.
-
How is it a strategy to keep a game going longer than it needs to?
How much are you compensating for exactly?
And again, the comparisons that don't work.
Why don't we bring in other, vastly different games, where your time being wasted is because you weren't as good as the other person alone and not because they need to rub your face in it.
Or how about the stuff in the game you brought up that are not the same? Being caught and placed on hook is because you failed to evade the killer, not because the killer needs to jerk it. You being stunned by a pallet is because you didn't respect the pallet or didn't know it was there, not because the survivor felt a sudden need to jerk it. You picking up a survivor and being flashed was because you didn't do enough to chase or punish nearby survivors, not because they needed to jerk it. And the time spent chasing a survivor and abandoning chase was because you decided the survivor is wasting too much of your time and you need to pressure the rest of the team, not because you got tired of watching the survivor jerk it.
Survivors teabagging in the exit gates and killers refusing to kill someone because "muh 4k" is wasting your time on a game you can't hope to win and is "Jerking it". It is not a strategy. It is because you can't handle the possibility that you might not get a perfect win this time.
-
Wasting time because you're dead is a completely different situation from wasting time because someone else wants to jerk over a win.
One is a punishment from the game.
The other is because someone desperately needs to compensate for something and is making your game awful.

Why is "I slug a person so that hatch doesnt open" not a valid reason compared to "I 99' a gate so that EGC doesnt start."? (Both are delaying a disadvantageous gamestate)
Genuine question, but its probably the community survivor bias. It's okay if survivors do it.
The hatch is basically a pity win more or less, and the game considers it a 4k with ranks even if the survivor uses it. 99ing is also something the killer themselves can deny and under certain circumstances can end up getting survivors killed while it's opening, where as if the killer wants to slug for the 4k the only thing either survivor can do is DC so the hatch spawns anyway.

It's amazing how you're ignoring my suggestion entirely just to keep the argument going and make it look like you're standing on some righteous point here. You're literally denying the killer part of the game play and part of their goal with what you want. Point blank period. That's all there is to this argument. You don't like it, don't play the game. It's literally that simple. It's astounding that you can keep running your head in circles like you're the only person in the world and anyone who disagrees with you is some bad person who's doing something wrong.
I'm running my head in circles?
Do you know what would happen in a chess tournament if the person who was winning refused to put their opponent in checkmate until the clock literally forced them to either move on or lose? They'd get a well earned punch to the face.
Why are you advocating for it here? "Oh no, I might not get the fourth person, oh woe is me. Nevermind that I won the game already, it's not good enough."
-
Survivor dying does not drag the game out. If anything it speeds it to its conclusion.
But by all means keep arguing that it's ok to be part of the problem.
-
I'd be fine with that, but the hatch opens for the last survivor. Period.
Hey, while we're at it with your advocating of this behavior, how do you counter tea bagging at the exit gate? Huh? What perks stop four survivors you couldn't hope to even hit from snapping a carrot for two minutes of your life?
Since you seem so keen on only addressing one side of the issue.
And ignoring that unbreakable works one time.
I'll just ignore that fact as hard I guess.
-
"Just because you got put into a bad situation and lost a few minutes of your time doesn't mean anyone is entitled."
I've lost literal hours of my life to a collection of people who need to stroke their tiny little ego over this video game.
This wouldn't be a talking point if it wasn't a daily occurrence.
-
I like that you're implying that I teabag at the exit when I'm just as loud about that too.
No one should be wasting anyone's time over their fragile ego.
I don't care if you're a 4k obsessed slugging killer or an exit gate tea bagging survivor, you are an awful person if you do it.
But yes, you should just leave the game. Just DC. Just throw your BP away and be forced to be unable to play the game for literal minutes/hours/days if you don't like it so much.
Talking about entitlement and you unironically bring this pathetic point up. Unbelievable.
-
This is not about everyone being slugged.
This is about one person being slugged when there are two survivors without good reason.
There are killers whose entire playstyle relies on slugging people, and to say it's all bad at once is a fools errand, but there is literally no reason you need to waste four minutes of everyone's life because of a stupid number.

When did I say it was a life or death issue? If that's your response, then you should say the same thing about the person who started this post and the survivors crying about something they can literally take a perk to counter. I've gotten plenty of 4ks slugging the second to last person as well. Pointing out something is ridiculous to complain about doesn't make something a life or death situation.
Sorry, let me rephrase this.
I had no idea making the game as unfun as possible for everyone still in the game was so important because your ego requires you get a 4k.
-
Again, the big difference is that you can mod Borderlands so that you can play it.
The annoying thing about this argument is that a solution is already in the game. That solution should not be locked behind a perk slot.

Yes, but I want to become more effective
The killer will have to think twice about tunneling this survivor
DS used to make me do that.
Pretty much the only time I tunnelled someone I thought might have DS was when they attempted to use it offensively.
And man, is it hilarious when they complain that you stood over them for a minute after they run to you straight off a hook.
This was before DH nerf, so them DHing right through me only solidified the fact that they wanted me to tunnel them for the sole purpose of being a nuisance.

"I feel like killers shouldn't be able to get 4ks" OK, summed up what you said for you.
Seriously? This reasoning of "I got downed and now it's boring so it shouldn't be allowed" is absolutely insane. Go walk away and take care of something, have something on to watch or available to read while you're playing. The nature of the game as a survivor is that you might die, and you might end up on the floor. Every change people call for from the survivor side is literally just "deny/punish the killer for doing XYZ." It's insane.
I had no idea getting a 4k was such a life or death issue.
I've gotten plenty of 4ks without slugging the second to last person. It's not hard, and if you don't, so what.
-
No, no I agree with OP on this.
If you're slugging people so that you can guarantee a 4k, you're an awful person and you're no better than the people that teabag at the gate for the two minute duration. At least without good reason.
Some may say "Well there is no such thing as a good reason", but if there's two people left then the second person should be hiding as soon as the killer is able to go after them, which can potentially be "Immediately after my friend is downed". If the killer sees you after they down someone, it's perfectly reasonable for them to go after you. If you're waiting nearby with a flashlight save, that's on you. If you're waiting nearby to sabotage, that's on you. If you're waiting nearby to teabag the survivor that's about to die, that's not only on you but you also kinda deserve it.
But if you're on the other side of the map and the killer slugs the survivor to look for you anyways, they absolutely SHOULD be able to let themselves die faster. It's unfair to them that they have to be stuck in one of the most boring things in the game because of a players fragile ego, and it's unfair to the last survivor to have to dodge the killer for up to four minutes for the same reason.
It should be implemented in a way that it can't be used whenever because people will kill themselves at the drop of a hat. Maybe only available if everyone else is downed or already 2nd stage hooked OR if there's only two people left.
-
They pushed it back because it was very poorly received in one of the open betas.
I couldn't tell you personally if they're still pursuing it or not.
It's also been a while, so I couldn't tell you the exact reasons.
-
Literally all it needs is the old 5 second stun and it will be a good anti-tunnel perk.
This can be evidenced by the fact that it was a strong anti-tunnel perk before it was gimped too far.
-
Of course not. It would be silly to say that they are.
But if something is for somebody but they can't get into it because it makes them physically ill, that's not a "Not everything is for everyone" thing.
-
"Why Borderlands games have no way to change their graphics to some regular ones? I litterally cannot play the game because of its graphics, and its not a game mechanic that would be changed, only visuals, so surely it should be an accesibility to not lock whole game from certain players? Shouldnt it? If in dbd fov is restrictive to some players but only in centrain ways - like not being able to play certain killers or killers general, then its even less of a problem than when someone cannot play the whole game."
"Why are you complaining, there are SOME parts of the game you can play" is what I'm getting from this.
-
@Archael said:
If it was really that big a deal then shadowborn would be meta.
Fov is not gamebraking, Fov is helping, but gen regression, healing regression or some debuffs are helping more. Tho with certain killers, like Nurse - shadowborn is extremally helpful, allow for much more mistakes for being not punished. Idk why people dont use it if they dont, this perk is a gem for her and blight.
And for an argument about "accesibility comes before mechanics": Why Borderlands games have no way to change their graphics to some regular ones? I litterally cannot play the game because of its graphics, and its not a game mechanic that would be changed, only visuals, so surely it should be an accesibility to not lock whole game from certain players? Shouldnt it? If in dbd fov is restrictive to some players but only in centrain ways - like not being able to play certain killers or killers general, then its even less of a problem than when someone cannot play the whole game. Especially if making this more accesible would change mechanics in any way?
The only thing I'm learning from this is that Borderlands should have an option to change its art style because you literally can't play it and that you're using a game's art style to justify telling people who literally vomit over the small FoV that they should just deal with it instead of using it to justify telling gearbox to make their game more accessible.
Even better, you can mod one of these games to make them more accessible without breaking a rule their developer set to play the game. Take a guess which one.
-
I wouldn't call them professional survivors.
They know how to loop, so you need to take advantage of their AI, preferably with your power. If you're a stealth killer, avoid keeping them on screen for long when you're sneaking up on them, because they know when you're looking at them. Use your terror radius to scare them off of generators. Keep track of where you lose them, and check the nearest generator when you do.
Also, I can say for sure that the AI is not perfect by a long shot.
-
Change the add-on for changing the color of the traps.
It made sense when there weren't maps like Mt. Ormond of Eyrie of Crows, which conflict harder with the darker color those add-ons give.

I would agree but then why not just shift it into a regular perk. Totems aren’t that hard to get rid of
Because kicking gens without actually kicking gens is very strong.
Just by chasing people off of a generator you're undoing their progress.
-
No on spectating teammates. People accuse me of stupid things when they can't see what I'm doing already, I don't need more of that.
-
There is already an option where you can play only with people on your system.
OP is talking about separating PC from Console (and Switch for some reason).
-
There are times when hook suiciding is the smart thing to do.
If there's only one person left and there's still generators to do, you're probably better off not endangering the other survivor more than you need to, because chances are only one of you is getting out at best.
-
Proxy camping at least requires the killer to patrol around the survivor. While more effective, it's possible to play around more than someone who just stares at the target.
You can't sneak around a killers LOS when they're just staring at the rescue target.
-
The mobile game is handled by a different company, so I'd say it's unlikely to happen.
Wouldn't be bad if it did though.
-
There is literally no reason for the game to blow my ears out because someone isn't satisfied with the fact that I haven't seen them teabag yet.
Surely it can be limited to once every three or four seconds per survivor.
-
If you kill someone, the game immediately shifts heavily into your favor.
The perk is fine the way it is.
-
The killer won. Plain and simple. The game has always been about getting as many gens done as quickly as you can before the killer has the potential to snowball the game into an unwinnable situation for the survivors.
If anyone dies before a third gen gets done, the team effectively already lost. If two die and more than one generator is left, your only real hope is the killer notices the other survivor first and either kills them or is distracted long enough for you to get the final gen and one of the gates.
If the team does poorly enough, it's meant to be a hopeless situation. You're not on the side that is slowly clawing the advantage away from the other side.

How does that promote dc'ing lol.
*Survivor 1 disconnects*
Oh. Guess I just lose then.
Disconnects
There being an AI means that it shouldn't be that big of an issue anymore, but people will DC because other people do anyways.
-
If more than one person leaves and they have a bot to replace that person, they're throwing away a game they can still potentially win.
-
The basement exists because there are certain places that are ridiculously strong, and the possibility of being in the hardest to escape from place in the game puts a risk factor on it.
Anyone who's played the game for a while knows that the killer shack is one of the strongest loops on the map, and maps like Badham and Garden of Joy needs to have SOMETHING that makes using the strongest loops in the game have some risk.
-
I'm sorry, but at that point either don't hide while injured or bring a perk that silences your noises.
-
There's literally a perk for this situation.

It's amazing how many killers complain abt genrushing when rancor + game afoot is a thing
Pair it with NWO and Remember Me it's a completely braindead strategy, like tombstone Myers but on any killer
I don't have a foot in this race, but I just want to point out Game Afoot doesn't do #########.
It literally only works if you're chasing a very specific survivor.
-
Understandable.
Yeah, if you look straight up or down you literally can't get flashed unless the flashlight user is on a different floor.
-
Please don't complain about this anymore.
Boons were made because of this complaint and I don't want another year of something as bad as Circle of Healing.
-
Why aren't you looking straight up or down?
It's not really related I guess, it's just bugging me.
-
I'm sorry, am I the only person who ran into almost nothing but Wesker for weeks after he was released?
Were all the people who complained about going against nothing but Wesker, INCLUDING YOU RIGHT NOW, lying when they complained about going against Wesker repeatedly?
Am I having a fever dream right now?
-
Red Forest needed a rework.
Sadly, it somehow needs one harder now.

I don’t enjoy playing as him so it’s not “everyone”. We will just have to agree to disagree on the entire subject. Thanks for your opinions.
Just because you didn't like playing as him doesn't change the fact that most killers clearly did.
-
You still have three other players to interact with. What's the problem?
-
You want him to not be buffed...because he's scary?
My friend.
This is a horror game.

Isn't that what I just said?

I had no idea this game was balanced enough and was so big on the Esports scene that people worry about their pride.
It's just a video game mate.

Here's an alternative: give him a lullaby with a radius that grows based on how close to Evil Within 3 he is (no lullaby at the start of EW2, large radius at 99% EW2).
He has a large terror radius during Evil Within 3, so that others know he's coming and can have time to avoid the 1-shot down, but not the first survivor. Comes out of nowhere.
Giving him a lullaby that can't be suppressed gives that survivor fair warning.
They did. Michael could barely get ######### when they originally received the warning that they were about to be chased by someone with an instadown.
-
Because everyone wanted to play as Wesker.
Because he's fun to play, before you ask why to that question.
-
So when another Wesker happens, the people that like playing as the killer that's fun to play don't deserve games then?

@VaporLion said:
fov is not accessability, its just gives you an advantage. thats why its a perk.
also dbd is a very competitive game so max fov would be a standard for every killer. so you should ask yourself this question:
Is the game better balance wise / better looking / has better immersion with the current fov or with the maxed out fov ?
Since everyone will then play with max fov. And i think that the current is better in every 3 of those aspects.
@Göch said:
"it's 2023 Accessibility options is more important than balance"
No, they are not. Especially if they have that much impact.
I am 100% confident that most of the people screetching for a bigger FOV want it to get an advantage and not because its necessary for anyone to play. They removed streched resolution for a reason.
Please remember the people that tell you it's important that you feel sick because Dead by Daylight, the game that has both Freddy and The Nurse, should be kept the way it is because "Balance".
