Warning: if a video game opinion genuinely triggers you, don’t read this thread.😂
I think Nowhere to Hide is one of the cheapest and most braindead perks in the game and makes a bunch of other killer aura perks obsolete.
Why run niche tracking perks when you can just kick a gen and instantly reveal everyone around you for that long? And if you pair it with Lethal Pursuer, it gets even dumber.
People love calling Windows of Opportunity “handholding” for survivors, but what exactly is this then?
The perk takes so much tracking work away from the killer. You just kick a gen with no cooldown and get value. And since you can kick the same gen like 8 times anyway, the limit doesn't matter. It's just “kick gen, spin camera, walk at highlighted survivor.”
- someone’s nearby = free info
- nobody’s nearby = also free info because now you know where not to waste time searching, time to kick the next gen LOL
I don’t even think it’s overpowered necessarily. I just think it’s an insanely low-IQ perk for how much value it gives you.
What’s your unpopular Dead by Daylight opinions?
Empathy should be basekit
Xenomorph could use a buff
Ghoul needs to be fixed.
thanks for coming

I want to hear what people think of Kaneki
What they like, and what they don't like.
I'll begin, his leap cooldown when not attacking is awfully low. Why on earth does he has the right to come super fast to you, get a 0.5sec cooldown and hit you for free.
Tbh, it's the only thing bugging me about him
in the words of someone whose name i cant remember. "Kaneki is a mess that never should have made it to the live servers"

They are very loud and in my opinion unpleasent.
I always find myself using steam overlay, because it mute the game entirely.
Especially when I switch character to kaneki or start a match. What I want is now locked behind the purchase - Rize skin - and I don't think that's a good practice.
its worse with the Rize skin too…

I would go with the former explanation. Jason ran into the Unknown in the woods, then gets taken after he beats the tar out of Unknown, specifically here:
Something twitches in the puddle, as if thin threads of muscle
twine back together. The Slasher looks around. The mist that permeates
this forest turns black. In the gloom, he glimpses visions of skittish, fearful people
roaming the forests. He storms through the dark cloud, wisps parting to
reveal a young woman, olive skinned, scarf around her neck. Her eyes
widen in terror. He swings his machete.A point of evidence: Jason found Unknown inside a tent, alongside some suppllies like rope and hacksaw. While Survivors can probably make use of more supplies in lore than we see ingame, that stuff seems too handy IMO for The Entity to actively allow into a Trial.
This naturally poses an odd question: What's Unknown doing outside the Trials? Is this a prequel to it being taken? Is this an alternate universe where Unknown got bodied and Jason got taken instead? Does The Entity let Unknown out for walkies?
The Unknown hates the entity so he took a unpaid vacation

The pallets aren’t the problem for me - most of them are unsafe so you can easily get hits at them. The bigger problem for me is the awful layout. In most places, survivors can prerun and it takes forever to catch up with anyone unless you’re a high mobile killer.
The aesthetics of the map are great, but the layout is horrible for DbD.yeah, the layout is pretty horrible
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
The map has 3 God Pallets and the rest of the Pallets are pretty bad. Your issue is that you get stunned by them. If you dont get stunned, you can just walk around it and get a hit, because the "Loops" are so short that they are not really useable by the Survivor.
So yes, there are a lot of Pallets on that map, but you can play almost all of them as Killer and they are in your favor, but you should not break those Pallets in chase and especially not get stunned. Those are basically the only ways for the Survivor to gain distance on most of the Pallets on that map.
(Dont get me wrong, the map still sucks for a lot of Killers. But it also sucks for Survivors, so it is somewhat balanced that both sides dont enjoy the map, lol)
i will admit i am pretty bad at playing around pallets, sometimes i can do a epic mindgame and get a free hit, its just i think theres generally a lot of pallets. theres also this one loop with window vault next to shack that i seemingly cant play around sadly

Granted, regular queue times for killer in 1v4 when there is nothing else going on aren't the worst. Two to five minutes is nothing to make a fuss over.
Still, I'd much rather use my time productively and play some Survivor in the meantime. Which is now possible thanks to PWYW being added permanently 😁. -
i would also like to say its not even broken, and u can still play around with perks such as Spine Chill for more distance, or even Repressed Alliance to stop TBTC. heck pair them both if you want,

I think at the end of the day it comes down to experience; 325 hours is a ton in most games, but it's nothing in DBD. And you have to get into chases, even though you're going to die. A lot. Don't be afraid to lose, and try not to get discouraged when SBMM feeds you into a meat grinder.
Watch instructional/tutorial videos, but remember that knowledge =/= execution, and be patient with yourself.i like to generally avoid Chase but i should try more often to get chased, to learn more

have you ever seen Spongebob? if you've seen the GloveWorld episode, you need to think of yourself as the glove world bus.
any time Spongebob sticks his hand in the vending machine, the bus moves closer and when Spongebob steps back, so does the bus. this silly mental image will do you wonders against most Killers. for example bubba struggles to catch people who always move away from him.
if you want to enter my training school of looping arts, you could sign up for my exercise program which is on discount since one of the licensed perks is now free!
Object of Obsession, Scene Partner, Troubleshooter and Resilience is my go to that I call "safety in the eye of the storm" build for people who want to get comfortable taking the heat.
I had to develop this build, 50% because chucky was annoying me on release and 50% my team was literally all distortion players except 1, who was unfortunately our weakest link so they always got turbo tunneled.
I have great game sense and awareness, but I'm old. I enjoy stealth more, too. however this build did a lot for me.
Object helps you suss out killers builds so you can confirm aura perks, and sometimes you get auras mid chase or you see a stealth killer approaching (seeing chucky for 0.05 seconds is still huge because you know his approach)
Scene Partner+Troubldshooter grants great safety in chase and allows you to play more unsafe pallets with poor check spots that you need the reaction time of a kid to play, like midwich middle area. Troubleshooter prevents you from running the killer into high value generators.
Resilience is the cherry on top for extra loop value plus tiny repair progress, but you could swap that for Strength in Shadows if you'd like a decent heal with some decent aura attached.
this build kills, but it saves. it saves, but it kills. Scene Partner is a lifestyle that has to be embraced since you have to treat every killer as if they are Ghostface but it's incredibly rewarding.
i did just get Gabe so ill try your build out, thank you. and as a Avid Spongebob enjoyer i 100% can imagine it clearly

People always say Nurse and Legion (for good reason), but imo the issue there is that you can't meaningfully rework them without just full on reinventing their power. Like back to the drawing board type stuff, because they are fundamentally broken.
And that sounds fine to me, but you pretty much risk alienating all the players who have mained them for years. Like Skull Merchant, exept there are people who actually care about Nurse and Legion.*
Which brings me to my answer, which is Skull Merchant. Because she is all but a dead killer, they can get away with a total reinvention. I am disappointed they seemingly abandoned their proposed overhaul; not because I liked it particularly, but because the way they have left her is just another useless half measure.
If you're gonna do it, do it.
Other candidates for me would be Ghostface and Sadako, the latter in particular, because I think she's only a tweak or two from being good. And Ghostface's reveal mechanic is a joke.
*I am partially joking, I know trash canning Skully has been rough for her mains, but the reality is that there just aren't many of you.as a Skully main (no offense taken dw) i do think we could use some stuff, i get absolutely smashed by random surviviors who arent in SWFs but are still good, its hard to compete at most levels. we could use some buffs and a complete overhaul lol

I think Scampering, as currently implemented in Chucky's kit, is fairly useless, and there's no way to buff it without making it overpowered.
I do miss the old implementation of Scamper because it felt very thematic, and without it, Chucky as a character feels a little flat.
I don't think it would be harmful to re-add the Scamper back into Chucky's kit, IF using the manual Scamper immediately ended Hidey-Ho so he couldn't immediately follow up with an undodgeable Slice n' Dice.
Krasue has been given a Scamper that isn't game-breaking; I think we can take the lessons learned from Krasue, and apply them to Chucky.
Wesker can vault pallets, but it puts his power on a cooldown. In fact, his Special-Vault just got buffed!
Allowing Chucky to manually Scamper while putting his Power on Cooldown would make Chucky immensely more fun, thematic, and dynamic to play as, and play against, without being too overpowered.
thank you for bringing this up, i too would be fun with this as someone who avidly plays Chucky from time to time, his power feels too neutral without his scamper, and i would have a lot of fun with this

I would like to see some skills added to survivors. One I would love to see is being able to do something to a killer after they hook you like being able to kick them in the face. It doesn’t have to damage them, it would just feel good to be able to do. Another thing is the survivors should be able to interact with their environment a little bit more. They should be able to pick up things, not just things in crates. I would love to pull some tokens off killers hooks. I would love to be able to collect little trinkets along the way. They don’t have to be for any reason other than just collecting.
Chucky has too much plot armor to get kicked in the face, hes too small for them to reach from the hook. not to mention he would yell slurs at them🤣

Ok, I decided I'd spill the beans on why it will never leave one of my Pyramid Head builds.
Survivors opposing Pyramid Head, especially in mid-high MMR, have a habit of avoiding becoming Tormented at all costs, even if it means crouching over one of PH's trails while within striking range of the killer. This makes using the Cage/Execution side of his ability rarely come into play, which for a PH player means they have no advantage.
Knock an Item out of a survivors hands with Franklin's Demise and Draw a Trail of Torment over said item, and if the survivor wants it back they'll either have to wait until the Trail disappears or get Tormented. "But they can just crouch over the trail to get their item back without getting tormented" I hear you say… Not so. When they pick up their item on a Trail, the pickup animation forces them to stand up, and apparently, as long as they aren't in the crouch position, they will get Tormented every time. Standing on a trail is apparently the sole condition for receiving the tormented status, so with FD, you can force survivors who want their items back to receive Torment.
Obviously, this was much better when FD drained Charges as it put survivors in a tough position of getting tormented or just abandoning the item since all of its charges would be gone by the time the trail disappeared, however, Despite the nerf, and with trails taking up to 90 seconds to vanish, you can effectively take their items off the board as an issue for minutes at a time if they want to avoid getting tormented.
As many have also pointed out, Weave Attunement has incredible synergy with FD, but it's unnecessary on PH since survivors getting tormented gives you the Killer Instinct alert. However, with Weave you also give survivors who retrieve their items the Oblivious status, which is another feather in your cap if you have the perk slot to spare, and it also shows them the aura of their dropped items in your trails which can serve as bait for the torment to the most forgetful survivors, who're unsure of where you knocked it out of their hands. IMO, I have 1 build that uses both FD and WA, and one that only uses FD, and both are about equally good at getting them tormented, so if that's your goal, use whichever you prefer.
PH is also not the only Killer that gets unique interaction with FD, as both Hag and Trapper can use it to "bait their traps", and Hag's Trap activation has a similar "Standing" condition as torment, but unlike torment, Survivors get a "Wipe Trap" prompt to avoid triggering it. Trapper using items to bait his traps however only gets one use from this with Bloody Coil, which secures an injury for anyone who disarms a trap to retrieve their item, so FD's not as good on him without that add-on.
Now that I've explained these "dark secrets of the old magics", I hope you have fun trying it out 😋
i use that brown add on that increases the width, but smaller range. seeing as i play close range a lot, this actually might be good for me

its pretty balanced, not saying you dont need to do more to win on Killer, but some killer perks can dismantle some survivor perks, now i will admit a BNP is hard to play against, but thats why Gen Slowdown exists no? some survivor perks are stronger for sure but killer does have strong perks as well, Pain Res, DMS, Pop, and Deadlock exisf

@Valuetown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/467342/looping-in-general
Pretty much it just boils down to meaningful practice. What that means is this:
- Don't be afraid of chases. The fear is coming from not knowing what to do as well as your harsh inner critic for wanting to be better. Chases will take time to learn. There are many killers, tiles, perks that adjust chasing. Just getting exposure and learning something from each one goes a long way. Ask yourself things like "why did the killer force me in this direction?" or "why did I not have enough space when I thought I did?"
- Look up looping guides. Many can be outdated, but their core is still the same: loop things tightly, maintain a "kiting" distance, try to thread different tiles together if you can.
- Look up tile guides. Knowing what each tile looks like and what resources can spawn will help you immensely. While you are learning, it can help to use Kate's Windows of Opportunity or Kwon's Five Steps Ahead, as they show you pallet and window locations. The goal is to not feel like you need to use those perks to find resources or know how they are set up in a tile. Otz released a pretty good video a few years back about tiles, I'd recommend that one.
- Play killer. Knowing your opponent's limitations and strengths will help you greatly. Knowing what tiles/line of sight blockers/strategies that cause killers problems when you play them not only help your killer gameplay, but also survivor gameplay.
- Don't be too harsh on yourself. Looping as survivor is genuinely the hardest thing to do in this game. Not only do you have to memorize every map, but every tile, killer, killer perk, etc. and you need to use all of that to help yourself survive.
- Keep asking questions. Help is always given to those with the courage to ask. At the end of the day, we're all here to have fun and to try to reach whatever goals we set for ourselves.
Thank you for your kind words and tips, i really needed them. Im usally a killer player, and generally find it hard to put the chase in the survivors POV, and whenever i drop a pallet i usally panic and run off or valut into the killer, same goes for looping, i generally cant loop, when i have the killer on my tail i run to the nearest pallet drop it, and hope they break it so i can run off, i dont stay

No worries. The thing is, Steadfast could have the downside completely removed and it would not be a good Perk. But at least useable.
However, just to mention, those are only the early concepts of those Perks. And it will take a while until the Chapter will be developed, so a lot can change until then. Just the general concept will stay the same, because the community voted on those Perks.

Well there are at least 2 main-reasons:
- Dbd on switch has a horrible performance and huntress hates inconsistent fps, especially for shots directly in front of you. (It's harder to predict and react to the survivors movement).
- Controller is simply increadible bad for the movement you need to do with your camera on basically any killer. You can't really flick and even 100% speed is probably to slow to come close to that - sure you can preaim around corners and things, but that's still not comparing to flicking with a mouse. Well besides the fact it's probably also more precise with slow movements too.
I would give the advice to not play killer ever with controller if it's avoidable. Well that's at least my opinion, maybe you're playing shooters on console since 10 years, but even then I think you would be better with mouse in a few months maximum :D
Ps: as survivor I heard controller is better btw, but you would still have the switch as a problem xD
…i generally wanted to expirence comp dbd, but maybe i should not use switch for that? I dont know i do fine on killer for the most part, especially on Oni, im currently on a 16 winstreak with him. survivor sucks, i cant loop for the life of me and generally struggle

It's not just a meta thing, it's also a fun thing, imo. I think BHVR would be able to attract Killers to play their mains as long as the experience is fun and unique enough. It's definitely impossible to equalise the powers though, I agree with that.
For example, I like playing Trapper in 1V4 but I wouldn't dream of playing him in 2V8. Partly because if I'm waiting 20 minutes for a game, I feel I should pick something stronger so my teammate doesn't have to hard carry us. But also because he's a map control Killer and the maps are simply way too big for that play style to feel satisfying to me. He's not strong but he's also not fun. He's a good option for those Survivor duos where one half doesn't play a lot of Killer but they still want to join their friend for a couple of rounds.
On the other hand, I can definitely see Slinger mains still having a blast playing him in 2V8 despite not being a strong choice, because he's different enough to the 1V4 version to be appealing to them. Wesker just happens to be both fun and very strong for 2V8, which pushes his popularity even higher. I don't think many other Killers can tick both of these boxes in 2V8.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4079618#Comment_4079618
He's always been incredibly popular in 2V8. The bugs this time around just add to the frustration factor of seeing him so often.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4079622#Comment_4079622
I don't play Wesker myself, but I have played the others and I guess what I really meant to say is that his power seems very straight forward compared to the other strong Killers in the mode, with (comparatively speaking) no obvious downsides or as severe a learning curve.
I think if your Wesker Kill rate is anywhere near 60% you are doing just fine. I think the more you play a Killer, the more accurate your MMR becomes and the harder it gets to push past a certain performance level. You are probably better than you think you are. I know my own personal kill rates are kinda "fake", anyway. I have a habit of letting the final Survivor go when I win and I rarely walk away from a trial with less than a 1K (over time, that evens out at a 50% Kill rate and is the same for all my mains). I also play fairly casually with perks I enjoy and mostly by the "rule book", so I know I could push it higher if I really wanted to.
So I go by average hooks instead, which puts Billy and Chucky at the top with 7.89 and 7.88 followed by Legion and Trapper with 7.27 and 7.11. Trapper actually has my highest Kill rate because of his ability to win trials instantly on occasion. Scott Jund made a pretty good recent video explaining why Trapper is weirdly simultaneously one of the strongest and weakest Killers in the game. There is a lot of nuance to Kill rates, imo.

I like your incentive idea. Variety is less of a problem in 1V4 because there are 40+ Killers. (I assume) most players are in mid MMR, where every Killer can do well and feel viable. But I still think there is a problem with Killer variety at the extremes in 1V4. Low MMR is chock full of free Killers like Trapper, Huntress and Wraith, alongside the bottom tier Killers like Ghostie and Legion. This was alleviated a little bit by the Killer daily challenges encouraging players to play Killers that they're a bit crap with (big mistake to have gotten rid of these, imo).
They're solving the issue in top MMR by adding lots of very strong Killers, but I honestly don't know what we're doing making Blight 110%. All that's doing is saying to BHVR that we want to face more Ghouls in top MMR 1V4.
But I digress, something to sweeten the deal to encourage more Killer variety could work for 2V8. Might even help the queues a little, since it could tempt some players away from queuing up to play Wesker for a game or two.

I guess one approach would be to throw absolutely everything at the wall to see what sticks and accept the risk of adding things to 2V8 that might get a Marmite response from players. I suspect easy to add Killers like Clown and Trickster wouldn't get much of a warm welcome but then who knows, maybe they would actually work OK for 2V8? Maybe even Ghoul would be fine. None of these Killers have the unique potential to annoy an entire lobby the way that Legion could.
The only way to know for sure is to try it and find out. But then you run the risk of adding a Killer that gets so many complaints BHVR feel they need to remove them and they lose a bit of good will from both sides in the fallout (I'm still annoyed we lost The Legion).
I worry that 2V8 has prematurely left this experimental phase because it's become way more successful than BHVR ever expected it to be (especially with the casual Survivor crowd). It's made them take a more cautious approach with what Killers they add because they don't want to potentially derail the 2V8 hype train. Short term that might be the right call, but in the long term I think that decision might prove fatal. That said, so long as DBD still attracts new players who will always find the experience to be novel, it has a future. If that's the focus then none of this matters, but I think veteran players might begin to tire of 2V8 before long if they don't keep adding content or find a way to promote variety.

Ha ha! You know, I do enjoy doing impressions of him to myself when I play, so if there's one good thing about him it's that.
