I don't think gameplay loop is bad in general in this game, sure you have to learn a lot, but that's not unique to DBD.

My main issue while I would refuse to start again is simply the amount of money and time you need to put into DBD just so can play what you want.
Fact that I need to pay DLC and also put BP into someone I don't ever want to play just to gain his perks seem ridiculous to me.
I think tier 1 perks should unlock on other characters as soon you buy the character, so I can technically unlock the perks by putting BP only to characters I want to play. (T2, T3 would be under prestige as it is)

Overall BP gain is just bad, rewards for quests are joke. The amount you need for new players is getting bigger and bigger.

If the game can keep players only be creating endless grind, it's not a good game.

And your completely right, Like i hate playing Clown, but i bought him and wasted BP for his perks. i feel that this idea could be extremely healthy for the game

    "Run while you still can"

When I found out my sister wanted to start playing DBD, I advised her not to do it.
This game is just terrible for new players. If I lost my account, there is no way I would do it again.

My sisters 7 year old daughter wanted to try the game according to my sister. I nearly laughed until i once came over to find her playing a match of Ghostface, and winning. and even adults sometimes struggle to play the game. and it really is terrible, i play the game because ive spent money on it and i at least want a single P100 before i maybe quit. This game makes me downright miserable, but yet i still play it

    Ooh, this could be fun.

    • I don't know if this is actually a hot take, but it might be to some people based on other comments I've read in the past: Killer strength does not have any correlation to how fun they are to play against. There are killers in A and B tier that I find fun as survivor. Conversely, there are killers in C and D tier that I don't find fun at all.
    • An example: Trapper is one of my least favourite killers to play against.
    • That leads me into my dislike of 2v8. It's reasonably common to disparage the mode on social media, but I think this still counts as a hot take because that's just a very vocal minority. Playing killer with a friend can be super fun, but on the survivor side, chases often last 10 seconds at most. Tag-teaming survivors is a valid strategy, but that doesn't change how deflating it can feel. I've not played survivor in 2v8 the past couple times it's come around for that reason.
    • All generator-related perks on both sides should've been nerfed into the ground a long time ago. Generator times would be a lot easier to balance around if they always (or nearly always) took the same amount of time to repair.
    • Several parts of the anti-tunnelling PTB shouldn't have been scrapped.
    • I feel bad saying this because I know some people still like Skull Merchant and the devs presumably worked very hard to create her, but everything about her is genuinely embarrassing. I'm not talking about her tarnished reputation from her heyday, which I admit is unfair nowadays because she's so weak. I'm talking about EVERYTHING: her lore, her walk cycle, most of her cosmetics. The only redeeming thing about her is the cosmetic with the long ponytail.
    • I find MiNA (Trickster's legendary cosmetic) incredibly cringe.

As a skully main i just wanna say

screw cosmetics, the gameplay is fun

Honestly this is the worst idea, And clear intentions of tribalism !

Please stop with the one sided tribalism,

It’s bad for the games health & the whole community.

Play both sides, Get better, Adapt, & have fun in the fog.

    Happy 10th anniversary!

i agree with this, and id also like to point out, that from what i see not many plagues know they can infect hooked survivors

  • I just enjoyed her gameplay lol, however playing Ghoul makes me realize how weak she is. i still want her to be my first P100. i use a stupid build on her too

You think we could ever get some form of cthulu in dbd? Maybe a map with him in the background

As cool as that would be, i doubt it, though imagine a map themed around an aquatic temple and in the background you can see Cthullu staring at you.

survivor running away from a charging and screaming hooligan by the name of Blight

Cthullu: in the background, watching and eating popcorn "how interesting"

Yeah thankfully this is not every day! And Fast Track does not help anymore so that is a plus for killers. I also like running more interesting perks as killer.

i am probaly the biggest Pain Resonance hater thats a killer main. I find perks like it just unsastifying to use and generally dont feel any regression it may do. i like weird perks. Biggest Undone defender

  • few matches ago i played against 2 people with the same build

    hyperfocus

    stake out

    fast track

    overzealous

ive never seen gens fly by that fast in my life, now i dont usally run slowdown, i guess Undone is slowdown. i run weaker and underused perks so i can be partly to blame for my own downfall

"Wandering Eye" and "Save The Best For Last" are odd choices.

I would use "Discordance" as an easy to access info perk and probably "Eruption" as another genkick slowdown to synergize with "Pop Goes The Weasel".

But my most important advice to you is to take off the training wheels and start playing killers that sharpen your mechanics and macro understanding. If you want a strong choice i can recommend "The Hillbilly".

I am mostly a Skull Merchant main so ive been playing without training wheels for a while. and yeah they are odd choices i just get value out of them nicely. I suck at Hillbilly

  • @Flopiyutiop said:

Trapper, Wraith, Deathslinger, Ghostface, Executioner, Némésis, Chucky, Huntress , even Dracula and Wesker could have some or all of their 2v8 buffs implemented in 1v4 and would remain A to B tier in that state of play. That's an easy number fix for improving the fun playing these killers and increasing the diversity of experiences in the game.

give wesker 3 bounds and im done with this game

    4. Myers - The worst out of all like instadowns for only 10 seconds of stalk long as hell lunge and insta break pallets

SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED CHASE TIMES? START RUNNING BEFORE KILLER KISSES YOU ON THE FOREHEAD MATE. AND YOU WONT NEED SPRINT BURST

    Imagine that:
    > Dont use exhaustion perks.
    >Learn how to play without them.
    >Then put them on.
    >Profit

Lithe is different, i would rather play against full team of lithes instead of full team of SB.

I never use exhaustion perks, thanks to that i get told im playing wrong cuz you need at least one exhaustion perk alway??? i prefer perks to help gens get done, or save my team in a bad spot

Of course! I like sparing the ones with personality and you were a lot of fun even with your stinky turret. :)

Genuinely though, thank you so much! I'll try those out tonight.

And for your sake, I hope BHVR optimizes DBD for you poor Switch players soon. There's so much wrong with the game on that platform rn.

Im glad i was fun to chase lol, i honestly lost hope because it was just me and one other alive and they werent doing a single thing while i was running away. And of course! let me know how it goes! i really wish you luck! also that would be awesome, at sometimes during the match i couldnt hear you enter the tunnel behind me while i was doing the gen at shack so i was like spinning around looking. we need some love and dont need every update to be delayed for us

Thank you, you're kind. That was actually my intention with this thread.😉

You can see all these unpopular opinions or even opinions that some people would consider completely wild but nobody is really arguing with each other or trying to prove someone else wrong. People are mostly just sharing their views and accepting that everyone experiences the game differently.

It's been nice to see a discussion where people can disagree without it turning into a debate about who's right and who's wrong.

That does sound familiar 🤣 Broke that turret so many times lol

And yes it's fun for the chases, but the gens are exactly my problem. That's why I'm trying to find a balance and was looking for any additional suggestions too.

Idk that it makes a massive difference for Xeno, but I also play on console and know there's just some killers that are a harder learning curve (Nurse, Huntress, etc). That's what I keep telling myself anyway 😭

Shack was like the only place that i was confident i could loop you so i kept running back and putting a turret there. i was too scared outside of shack. I would reccomend No Holds Barred or Corrupt Intervention, they help you eitheir start off strong or provide amazing slowdown throughout the game. If it makes you feel any better im a Switch player lol, im worse off then you

i also thank you for letting me live, it was a really fun game and you did fantastic

Yes! Overcharge, Mindbreaker, Languid touch, and Overwhelming Prescence (re-worked gives decent aura reading on exhausted survivors) is my current build. I'd like to have something a bit more balanced and not so heavily exhaustion based, but this current build is the one I've had some small amount of success with.

And I actually have thought I recognized your name for a while as well! Nice to meet outside the fog 😅

did you play against a Bill who kept spamming a turret in shack and ran around there? even after the gen was done? cuz that was me lmao

Honestly this seems like a fun build, however with like no gen slowdown gens probaly fly back extremely quick dont they?

Hey, u know what can counter high tier killers? And thats definetly not Sprint Burst i will say. GOOD PLAYS AND TEAMWORK.

Blight doesnt care about SB. Kaneki doesnt care about SB. The only high tier killer i could say would be punished with that one perk is Nurse, because she doesnt have great mobility, just the best chase power. But u know what she needs to do? BLINK ONE MORE TIME, SOMETIMES 2

What about m1 killers that doesnt have ranged ability or great mobility? F them, who cares?

You could play the strongest killer in the game, but even a strong survivor team can demolish you still

Lol yes! You've been the main one talking about Xeno and I'm glad because I've read every single comment to your threads just trying to learn more (learned yesterday the reason I couldn't hit survivors over turrets was because of auto-aim, had no idea).

I too ran Eruption for a bit before switching to Overcharge which is what I've stayed with the longest. I'm currently doing an exhaustion build because I felt I was struggling with Lithe/Sprint Burst players, but not sure how much it's helping anyway tbh.

I have a very fast growing passion for this killer, and im glad my threads have been of help to you! Also a Xeno with Overcharge? i get the odd feeling ive played against you before, back when Huntress map was showcased. Ive never actually thought of Xenomorph with Overcharge, i might actually give that a try. and yeah SB has been a HUGE problem lately, though i will admit Xeno is good at making survivors wary and screwing up their pathing (o glorious tail) Those perks can hurt. I actually think Languid Touch would be really helpful but thats me.

Edit: as was reccomended to me, check out Mr Headache on YT, he made an extensive guide to Xeno and could help

  • @Rock_KBob said:

There's been several discussions revolving around Xeno lately and I've honestly really appreciated reading them as I had picked him up within the last 3 months. I'm a Billy main and had gotten to the point my games were a bit mindlessly won. I wanted to try my hand at new killer for a challenge and am big Alien fan, so have been plugging along trying my best to "get good" with Xeno. But even though as I've seen in mentioned in these recent discussions, that Xeno has a strong power and great map presence, I find my matches are always sweat fests and that I just can't seem to find a build that I feel pairs well with my power.

Does anyone have some build suggestions and/or general tips? I'm not asking expecting to win games consistently; my whole reason for trying a different killer is because I do want to have to work for it. But if playing a "perfect" game as it currently stands makes me sweat every ounce of water in my body and overclock my heartrate and still come out averaging 2k's, I just wonder what I could do to improve. Thanks in advance 😊

As the one who has started a few of the mentioned discussions, i just want to say ive only played a few games on this killer, however ive done well in my matches and hope this build might work for ya

    Eruption

    No Holds Barred

    Bamboozle

    Batteries Included

However there are more expirenced Xeno players on here and i hope they can help

  • I think in his base skin you can maybe get that feeling, but with a certain skin the one that shows him covered in seaweed and what not gives a eerie type of vibe. However all this changes in a trial. Hes an invisible prescence on the map who can come out of nowhere. you can be doing a gen and then 5 seconds later your stuck to the wall with a spear impaled in ya.

last time i played against a twins, i got 4ked at 5 gens

  • @cogsturning said:

Lord that's a hard choice. I dislike half this roster. Probably Twins? With a lot of killers, it's the players and not the kit that I dislike. But Twins has such a god awfully designed kit. If they were popular and I saw them everyday I honestly might drop survivor entirely.

Second place probably goes to Legion. Annoying as hell and I think Killer Instinct is the most poorly designed mechanic in the game. It shouldn't exist.

And the goalpost gets moved further and further. Killers know that if they complain enough, they get more and more from the Devs. Now Sprint Burst is the target, once this is done, we will see people calling for Lithe-Nerfs.

You dont lose games because of Sprint Burst. You lose games because you are not as good as you think you are. Try to improve instead of getting everything nerfed.

Feel free to downvote, this is also easier than trying to become good at a game.

Lithe is easy to play against imo, just let them run off and just catch up and down them, its pretty simple

  • @Cornil said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/467806/unpopular-dbd-opinions-that-would-get-you-downvoted

My unpopular opinion is that Pop Goes the Weasel was fine at 20% or even 25%, at least compared to Pain Res being 20% still. The way it used to be was that Pop was 30% and Pain Res was 25%, and Pain Res still had the higher pickrate despite being riskier as a Scourge Hook. Now, Pop does less than Pain Res and the pickrate divide has gotten even larger, Pain Res at a whopping 30% pickrate and Pop at a 15%. I almost never see Pop Goes the Weasel in my survivor games anymore. Its just Pain Res Dead Mans, because it buys so much more time and can be used reliably by killers with low mobility.

I personally think because of its synergy with Dead Man's Switch, you could lower Pain Res to 15% and up Pop to 20% and the pickrates would probably stay more or less the same, but gameplay wise it'd likely help feel less OP. Maybe lower Dead Man's to 30 seconds from 35 too for good measure. Just make Pain Res and Pop a little more even than they are now, to encourage killers to use more variety for their gen slowdown perks.

Also on the topic of Nowhere to Hide, I think they should bring back Distortion's ability to recharge just in the killer's terror radius, lower it to 1 token, and it'd be perfect, and Nowhere to Hide wouldn't feel as cheap. With old Distortion Nowhere to Hide was kind of a risky pick because there was a high chance you'd get almost no value out of it due to survivors playing extremely smart/stealthy with the generators they chose to repair. You'd waste so much time trying to find someone you learned had Distortion, or you'd lose a gen for thinking no one was there and leaving it for too long. Used to be a lose-lose, and with a slightly buffed Distortion that counter option could come back.

I dont understand why we lowered it to 15%, it feels underwhelming to use now. change it back to 20%

Xenomorph does not nee a buff.

The character is basically as perfect as it can be with this design after the last set of balance adjustments it got.

Once mastered it is a high B/low A tier killer.

The problem with it is that the core design is flawed in that the flamer turrets are an enormous turnoff to people who want to try to learn the character. Once you learn how to play around them, they are no longer a big deal.

The only way to fix Xeno's pickrate is to completely rework it so that the flamer turrets are just simply removed from the game. This would also necessitate rebalancing several other aspects of its kit.

For better or worse this is the design we have, and I can't think of a single thing they could adjust about it. It doesn't need nerfs but it also can't really be buffed in any way without making it obnoxious to play against, akin to how it was when it launched and it had basically no punishment for missing a tail attack.

I have never played Xenomorph so i have no idea how he works naturally. This entire post was encouraged by a friend of mine who told me that Xeno could use a buff. He does seem very fun to play though

  • @Cornil said:

I used to play him a lot, and honestly he's always been a mid-high A-tier killer in regards to power potential. He's got the same if not a better version of the teleport that Sadako or Springtrap has, considering the speed he can teleport and the info he can get from being in his tunnels. His tail attack has a similar design to nemesis's whip but without a held charge before using it, and also no infection requirement to damage survivors. And yet, I understand why you made this post, his pickrate is incredibly low. I've seen only one xenomorph in the past couple months since I've started playing survivor more consistently again. His addons when compared to a lot of other killers in the mid-high A-tier range are actually very good, and give a few different playstyle or build options.

How would I buff him? I have no idea, because there doesn't seem to be any changes to his kit since release that would've made him less appealing, and tank his pickrate like it has. Maybe its because of the pallet changes, he is pretty vulnerable to people faking a pallet drop, getting a tail attack, then getting stunned right after. A xeno player who doesn't expect it can end up losing a game off of one or two decent stuns because of the current amount of pallets around maps. Even then though, he's not an M1 killer, he can work around pallets well enough with a little practice.

Only thing I could think of to buff him that wouldn't literally break his balance is maybe giving a short amount of undetectable after exiting a control station? Maybe 5 or 6 seconds would be enough to catch up to an unsuspecting survivor who couldn't hear the sound of exiting the tunnel. Similar to Springtrap after exiting a security door. Additionally, maybe rework a couple of addons. Examples I can think of would be Kane's helmet, which gives mangled for 70 seconds when hit by a tail attack. Could lower it to maybe 50 or 60, add hemorrhage as apart of it, and make the Multipurpose Hatchet (currently gives permanent hemorrhage until healed) instead extend the undetectable from exiting a control station, maybe by double to 10-12 seconds.

He does sadly have a low pickrate, and my friend has always told me that Xeno needs a buff or fix in a way. so i decided to ask for opinons and ideas from the community.

This was a 1K, I watched the game from the PoV of the Streamer OP faced (she seems pretty nice btw. and is an Artist Main, if someone likes that, they should totally check her out). Granted, it had the chance to become a 4K, because the Survivors messed up royally at some point, but OP messed up as well and let that 4K slip away.

The double pallet here did not really matter tho, from what I could see. But as I said, it is very likely a Bug, since it is unlikely that one Pallet spawns all the time and that there is even a double Pallet. Double Pallet on spots where they are not supposed to be are a rare occurence. They usually happen when the minimum amount of Pallets is not reached and the Pallet Spawn Logic put a Pallet on every possible location. So we are then at the minimum amount of Pallets and my guess would be that the Pallet on the right spawning 100% of the time causes the issue.

Carniveris is highly regarded to be one of if not the best Artist players ever.

    edit: from what i heard
