Solution: Buy Freddy (he's not expensive), play him, learn him so you know how best to counter him.
Or don't, you could also choose not to adapt and just continue to complain.
-
Go perkless for ultimate crutch fee hard mode.
-
Snapshot slinger has no counter-play. The drawback is you have to be good at snapshotting.

I'm running BBQ, nurses calling, spies from the shadows and tinkerer. None of them are at tier 3 yet. I may try whispers...but it's not at tier 3 either. I P1 her and am planning to P3 her just because.
Yeah perks like Stridor and Whispers aren't worth slotting till T3 anyway.
Only reason I run BBQ is for BP. People say it's OP for the aura reading but there are way more OP perks for that (like Nurses Calling which nobody seems to complain about lol)
-
Stridor + Whispers + (Nurses Calling / or STBFL) + Spies from the shadows works well for me on Nurse. (in fact I can't do without Whispers)
Just P3'd Nurse and I've yet to get Whispers rank 1 again and I'm struggling for it. It's a really handy perk for her as you can waste a lot of time with such a low mobility killer if your in an area without Survivors. It's good to know on her if your barking up the right tree.

after playing since the games release and going through 3 laptops this one is now broken
the space bar doesnt work unless I take the actual key off and since I know next to nothing on tech I cant fix it
super happy my inability to do anything right has broken yet another thing I hold dear
guess this is goodbye for a while
I feel your pain. I've only just come back from a months break due to motherboard dying from playing TOO MUCH DBD (the only game I play)
A work around might be to plug a keyboard into your laptops usb port? it'd be simpler to fix if you had a desktop.

It would make survivor dodge lobbies more so longer queue times
and force killers who play with bad sportsmanship to be less of a dicksack in order to get more matches. The more up ratings you get the shorter your wait time is, bad sportsmanship is punished, good sportsmanship is rewarded, forces re-form for the betterment of the health, well being and future of everyone's game, sounds good to me.

There was a nice graphics update but the new chapter update brought with it a plethora of problems. There's a really bad glitch affecting killers right now that prevents you from hooking survivors, vaulting windows, opening lockers, and kicking generators. Ash is also glitched and not making any sounds.
So in some ways you haven't really missed anything since this game is known for it's problems.
I think part of what feels so wrong is the graphics update. It's messed with all my muscle memory techniques with distancing on Nurse. I mean come on it's only been a month and I feel like a first day noob.

Even if they wanted to stop people from using voip apps it would be either a waste of time or reputation suicide to even try. The method would either be easy to circumvent or unacceptably intrusive to many gamers.
And on consoles they probably wouldn't even be allowed to prevent people from using party chat in the first place.
Seeing as behavior cannot stop 3rd party coms cheating (and it is cheating to use 3rd party programs to give unfair advantage with coms not designed for or balanced into the game) rather than just letting it slide they should balance the game as if everyone is using this exploit.
-
Because they didn't balance voice coms into the game as it's OP and gives unfair advantage to Survivors.
Yet they allow Survivors to use 3rd party programs to do exactly that which I find hilarious and extremely hipocritical.
-
He does an over head swing for his mini mori execution if that counts. Don't see how they can change the under arm bowl effect for M1 without compromising the executions value
-
Play Nurse and only Nurse till you can consistently find, catch, down and hook Survivors. You'll know when you're achieved this because it'll stop feeling like a miserable pain filled ordeal and more fluid and predictable.
Once you've learned all her tricks and traps you'll have also learned all her weaknesses. Things that can't be taught or even written about due to the highly nuanced interweave of complexity only teachable through first hand experience.

Noed is a crutch for bad killers.
I can say this because I used to use noed as a crutch because I was a and killer.
After I 'got gud' I saw noed for the crutch it was and replaced it with perk combos that rewarded skill.
Noed is training wheels for new killers. Anyone who denies this is ultimately kidding themselves.
Seriously if you want to up your game your going to need to ditch the training wheels first.
The only time I use noed now is on Slinger just for laughs. He's great for fu3king up those exit gate butt dancers who thought they were safe till BAM! Blood warden muthafuka!

Broken keys found in Chests. Literally the most useless thing in dbd
-
This is why Spirit has no counter play:
Stridor makes Spirit OP (you don't get this with any other Killer) it synergies far too well with her M2 ability. Far more so than any other Killers special ability.
Spirit needs to not have Stridor for any counter play to be effective. Bearing in mind that Stridor renders Unbreakable ineffective, the entire control point of weather the Spirit is counterable or not hinges on the Spirit itself. This makes her uncountable.
Doesn't get much simpler than that.
-
Buffs? what buffs lol.
This was an entire re-work, no buffs where involved.
Freddy had the aura reading aspect of his character nerfed into extinction and his invisibility nerfed so hard all that's left of it is an intermittent invisibility class photo addon. All because he was 'boring' - boring: the thing Survivors say when they want a Killer nerfed because they're too lazy to learn the killers weaknesses and adapt them itnto strengths.
Survivors got the nerfs they wanted and they STILL complain because Freddy players took the nerf hit, adapted and excelled regardless. Hillarious. lol.
-
My Killer builds on the other hand feel a little more "Meta" than my Survivor ones:
Nurse:
Nurses Calling / Whispers / Stridor / Spies From The Shadows
Nurses Calling / Whispers / Stridor / I'm All Ears
(Any variance from Nurses Calling / Whispers / Stridor is a no-no for Nurse so the last slot is all I can change up. Anything with aura reading is good for her)
Though I have heard that Nurses Calling + Sloppy Butcher + Distressing + Coulrophobia has the following effect:
Sloppy Butcher and Coulrophobia heal slowdown stacks then increase heal slowdown radius with Distressing to give allow Nurses Calling to get some serious value for money though I'll find it hard to give up Whispers and Stridor to seriously test it out.
Pyramid Head / Deathslinger
Nurses Calling / Discordance / Monitor and Abuse / STBFL
- My only problem with this is on PH + STBFL your pressured not to use ranged attack but this one does both PH and Slinger well
Freddy:
Nurses Calling / Discordance / Whispers / STBFL
I know it doesn't have POP, Thana and Sloppy Butcher but I like this build for Freddy and wouldn't change it for anything as it has:
- Great snowball effect with STBFL
- Great map pressure with Discordance + Gen Teleport
- Once 3k are done Whispers will get the 4th so long as I find the hatch first
- Nurses Calling is my Spine Chill for Killer, I (almost) never leave home without it if I can
Trapper:
Distressing / Unnerving Presence / Iron Grip / Agitation (Killer Shack Altruism Magnet 4k Build)
- Then add at least +1 sack addon with an addon that increases disarm time
Distressing and Unnerving Pretense confuses Survivors as to where you are as you always sound like your breathing right down their neck even at mid range
Iron Grip and Agitation allows for easy transport of Survivors to Killer Shack
- Bring your first 2 traps to Killer Shack and set them up on outside and inside window
- Get 2 more traps and set one of them at one entrance to shack laveing one entrance open
- Go get a Survivor and carry them all the way across the map (with the help of Iron Grip and Agitation) and hook them in the basement
- Go place the last trap at the last entrance closing off the shack entirely
- Go get 2 more traps and set them up int he grass outside the shack
- By now someone will have attempted to rescue the Survivor and is either trapped or has disarmed the trap and is on their way down
- - If they got stuck in a trap put them next to their friend on the hook in the basement
- - If they got to the basement re-set the trap they disarmed, now both of them are stuck in the shack to either be downed or trapped when they try and come up
- By now the last 2 Survivors will be sniffing around the shack and may already be trapped so bring them down to join their friends too.
- If done right you'll now have 4k in shack basement unless there's a scardy Dweight polishing the hatch with his butt
-
Killer is taking game hostage by not being good enough to find and kill the last 2 Survivors 😁

Overcharge sometimes catches them off guard after the first skill check cause they don't expect it. After that though, most people won't be affected by it unless you're running Unnerving Presence or the survivors are a crop of potatoes.
What about:
Overcharge + Distressing + Unnerving Presence + Hex: Huntress Lullaby
I've tried that build minus Overcharge and it has the potential to wreck face if they dont find the hex totem. OC would make it even more obnoxious lol.
-
Also whispers resolves the problem of which gate the last survivor is at once the hatch is closed.
-
How about a complete hatch rework turning them into an alternate way of traversing the map via a system of tunnels rather than escape?

Those Survivors looked pretty bad tbh. He got lucky.
-
You pretty much NEED certain perks in order to do well at this game. All of which take a buttload of time to get to teachable point for all Survivors and Killers, some of which stuck behind a pay wall or mostly unobtainable till they become purchasable once in a blue moon via bloodpoints
The grind makes it harder for new players to get into dbd. It punishes them and rewards the dinosaurs who enjoy nothing better than stomping all over their new potential player base to the detriment of the health, well being and future of their -own- game.
Sad but true.

Shread's like having an extra Brutal Strength perk. That alone is worth something surely. It's much faster breaking pallets with Shread than with the standard pallet break animation.
-
Rather than "nerf this nerf that omg no counter boring op killer" here's how to counter Freddy:
- Always wake yourself up when you go to sleep as top priority over every other objective
- Listen for the wind and if you cant hear blood pouring from a near by gen your safe to go about your business
That's all you need to do.
Aura reading perks that help with stealth work well against him too the same with any other Killer:
- Kindred to know where he is near a hooked Survivor at long range
- Spine Chill to know where he is at short range
- Alert (to know where he is everywhere else
The best solution when you find a problem you cant beat in any situation is to see things from the problems point of view to learn it's weaknesses then go back with what you learned and adapt those lessons to the problems solution.
Sorted.

Its pretty obvious Nurse is the best killer in the game and has no counterplay. Alright so you know how Plaid Flanal ad on shows Nurse where her blink is going. I think that same animation should be on survivor point of view so they can see where her blink is going. I think this would give her actual counterplay Thoughts?
^ I 100% guarantee you this player logged on to Nurse one time after being rolled by an experienced Nurse with thousands of hours of gameplay wanting to do the same thing. Came on here having failed miserably at Nurse and /OMG_NURSE_OP_BORING_KILLER_NO_COUNTER_PLAY.exe
- I used Plaid Flannel for the first couple of weeks so I could get an idea about her base distancing. (this is a Nurse training wheel addon essential for new Nurses)
- I then packed my Plaid Flannel away for far better addons having learnt her base distancing.
If they were to show Nurse blink location to Survivors only if the Nurse has the Plaid Flannel addon all it does is punish new Nurses learning the ropes making it even more difficult and unlikely that they will bridge the extremely high skill gap required to grasp even the basics of muscle memory required to wield her correctly.
This in turn would mean the only Nurses you would ever encounter would be god Nurses which you would STILL complain about, grasping at straws asking for more nerfs which will never happen because you cant nerf skill.
If they were to show Survivors and lets be fair to show Nurses where blink location was going to be to regardless of weather or not she had her Plaid Flannel added, (essentially removing the need for it as an addon) nobody would play Nurse.
Which is after all your desired outcome. To nerf all Killers to the point where none of them are viable any more and all we're left with is an empty lobby simulator.
Why? who knows. Some people want their easy-mode so much they are willing to blow up their entire game to get it. Some of us just enjoy the challenge, push through and adapt regardless.

If anything that trailer makes me want to avoid this chapter.
I'll purchase Blight for his Undying Hex. Get him to Rank 30 for teachable and then I'll leave him for dead and probably never play him again. It'll be a nice addition to Devour Hope.

Here's a tip that I still see tons of red rank survivors mess up:
Do the most unsafe gens first.
Example: The 2 gens on Hawkins that are on the second floor always, should be part of your 3 gen. Stop doing these first!
Another: Swamp maps, the gens on the boat or in the main building...these should be in your 3 gen! Stop doing these first!
You need to have your 3 gen planned from the start.
It gets tiring seeing my teammates rush to do the safest gens as soon as the game starts instead of saving them. You want to force the killer to make far patrols at end game and force him to have to protect a gen that's near really good loops.
I try to force myself to leave the first gen I see on the edge of the map the hell alone and do the gens in the centre of the map first, the more exposed and out in the open they are the better. Once you do as many of the exposed center map gens first the Killer has to traverse the entire map to apply pressure to the last few remaining gens dotted on the outskirts making it extremely hard for them. Also less likely to 3-gening yourself.

Rare addons and offerings appear more frequently the higher your prestige level is. It just makes sense to get to P3 before maxing out all your perks.

This thread: "please don't nerf my cheasy-mode crutch".

Worst addons in game hands down. Most of his other addons are better than his iridescent ones.

What kind of bs you dealing with over there? That’s sad for you though. Sorry about your luck.
Thanks, dbd is the only game I can be bothered playing lately so it kind of sucks.
Did a windows update one day and my windows32 file crapped out. The very file that easy anti-cheat needs to verify before letting you in to the game so essentially they are calling me a cheater lol. And finally due to CV19 no repair options available for the foreseeable so I'm just here trolling the forums lol.

System 32 error challenge which has kept me locked out of dbd for over half a month with no fix in sight making it impossible to complete the 3rd rift for time 4 has been this rifts hardest challenge for me. (Sarcasm, the greatest form of humour).
Not bitter about it just glad I didn't waste any money on it seeing as this rifts cosmetics and ornaments are kind of meh compared to the last two.

i've considered this but have been told that it is a bit controversial and that many in the gaming community consider console players using mouse and keyboard to be cheating
Lol really? That's just sad. It's like saying using 3rd party coms and a head set with Mike is cheating. What it ACTUALLY is, is using the best tools available to you for the job in question.
-
Go check out Silent Hills PT. You probably wont be able to find the source download for the game any more as its been nuked from the face of the internet but omfg that is some scary chyt lawl.
I'm serious though, try looking for it, it just simply does not exist any more. It's like it was blinked out of existence by the mandella effect its been nuked so hard.
-
What console players are experiencing is
worse frame rate than PC playersactually as simple as just going up against players that don't need controller auto-aim assist because they have better, more accurate user / hardware interface toolsGet a mouse and keyboard for your console and the problem goes away (after a decade or two of training)

It's almost like there wasn't another perk called Detective's Hunch... that revealed totems for you within 64 meters for 10 seconds.
Also little known fact (not opinion)... Hex:Noed isn't a problem and neither is Decisive Strike (Since someone will inevitably bring in the whataboutism into this). Shocker, I know...
5 Generators per map, 10 seconds burn per generator on each of the 5 Totem location for 64 meters on Tier 3 Hunch is a little slim for the entire perk slot it takes up.
It's a bad perk which could have been done far better if it was more like Plunderers Instinct. No way any Survivor worth their salt is going to waste 2 perk slots on 2 sub par perks just to 'do bones'. lol
-
@Eleghost said:
i feel like that would give almost too much information about where the totem is. Is it really that difficult to find within a rather small cone in front of you?
It just occurred to me that this would pretty much guarantee extremely fast hex totem destruction if every Survivor had the perk loaded, so I've changed the OP to exclude hex totems from this Small Game buff.
Regardless I'm tired of people complaining about bones (mostly due to Noed). A solution needs to be implemented, this is the simplest fairest way I can see it done as the solution requires a perk slot for a mostly unused under powered perk.
-
The relevance of this thread just reached Sonic Wolf Meat proportions:
-
He wasn't buffed, he was entirely re worked, removing a slew of stuff from the game entirely in the process. Removing his aura reading and invisible dream state aspects without buffing his sight clarity to counter this nerf.
-
Firstly, Wake up whenever you are asleep or Freddy will always have the advantage. Do this and you deny the first half his power.
Secondly, listen for the blowing wind. If your near a gen and it's not spewing blood your safe to go about your business. UNLESS he has a class photo addon then all gens will spew blood till he teleports (which he can't cancel in this case). Do this and you deny the second half of his power.
From a former Freddy, now Nurse main That's all you need to know about countering Freddy.
My advice is to just play as him to best see his weaknesses.

Counting the swings is just a trick, the usual way to do it (and it is explained in the power description) is watch the red bar down at the left and when it's about to run out you press M2 to replentish it again. That way you extend the Chainsaw Dash.
That sounds too easy. I wonder why it's not been working for me. I don't really enjoy bubba as much as nurse anyway. Nothing feels the same after her. Once you go nurse you never go back? lol

You need to press M2 at the 4th swing of the chainsaw on the first charge you use, and on the second you press it at the 3th swing. Its a really useful way to time it correctly while keeping your full attention in chase.
That's rather obscure for a mechanic that to my knowledge is mentioned nowhere. lol
