Such an awesome idea from the devs.

At high MMR, ruin + Undying last most of the time 30 seconds top.

Now, with these boon totems, everyone will be looking for totems to light them, they will find ruin/undying even faster.

And well, no scratch mark on 1/4 of the map is unbearable lol... it will be impossible to down a survivor in a jungle gym when the totem is enlightened, creating total safe places around undone gens if survivors are smart enough.

I'm wondering, with the current state of the game, how this idea could merge in a think-tank... Do the game designers even read reddit/this forum and watch some streams from high skilled players ?

Honestly, i won't play killer anymore pretty soon i guess, and many will join my boat.

I was thinking that too. With so much more totem interaction, there will be a huge rise of people looking for hex perks. I am thinking about changing off ruin/undying for my high mmr Freddy. Maybe just the basic tinkerer/pop would be safer. I would go NOED for an end game Blood Warden play. But, well, same problem. I think Deadlock gained A LOT of stock. I was kind of meh about the perk, but honestly, 30 seconds of lock is probably more value at higher mmr. Dare I say I might need to get rid of my BBQ for Corrupt.

Just the thought of the sweat makes me feel stressed. Lol.

Exept if every totem is a boon you cant get hit by noed so cleanse 1 and get 4 insta heal around the map

Does NOED not activate the second you... um... Dispell the boon totem? Or do you need to time it to make sure one totem is free before the last gen pops?

  • Not to be that guy, but I really didn't get Jebaited. I saw it coming from a mile away.

They are doomed to fail. Thing is if they're bringing 4 flashlights, they aren't trying to win. The reason they're bringing 4 flashlights is to mess around. If they wanted to win then no one would bring flashlights.

Also this is why people last minute swap to flashlights. They don't people to bring Lightborn or Franklin's so they last minute swap. People believe every last minute swap is to be toxic but there is a reason that they do it sometimes.

Problem is that if the killer brings Lightborn or Franklin's then the survivors will just rush gens so they can get onto the next game and keep their items. All your doing is giving them a reason to go on gens.

It is fine, if they last minute swap, I last second crash the lobby. It is fair game. Unless there is only one of them, I can chill and just face camp them instead of wasting the time to let the game load again. That works too.

Sadly Lightborn is now shown to the Survivor. Before I used Lightborn just because it was funny that they still tried to blind me, despite it not working 3 times before.

It does? Are they just trying to meme on me, then? They just never stop. Ha ha ha...

  • How is it predictable? Does it spark differently or something?

  • @pseudechis said:

They fail because rather than do gens they follow you trying to get flashlight saves and get really tilted by camping.

I've had games where the whole team forgot about the last gen and just hook traded till all dead because they didn't like me hanging around the hook at 1 gen left. I don't get it but I'll take it because its more fun than trying to pressure a coordinated gen rush squad and lightborn renders their main thing useless.

If they figure out lightborne and smash out the gens asap then its no different to any other game.

Yeah, that is why I always pretend I am not wearing lightborn. They are really easy to trick. The last thing I want is for them to stop trying to flashlight save. Lol.

  • @MTK said:

Ah of course the guy derails the thread into "git gud, i win, i better than u"

I stand by what I said before. If getting the exit gate powered by the time you have 4~5 hooks is an uncommon occurrence to you, then you are just not playing against actual players.

It's pretty amazing people still tout the "just pressure gens" rhetoric and be expected to taken seriously. Yeah, I can do that too against potatoes/99.95% of console players who play urban evasion and spine chill and go afk for 45 seconds behind a tree when they see their cat light up for one second. But then again, these are not actual players.

To be completely fair, he is not completely wrong. A lot of those streamers are terrified of hard tunneling and face camping when necessary. If you do those, you should have 5 hooks before exit gate. Genuinely. And I think he is full of it.

If you play mean, even as gens fly, there is not much they can do about it.

Sad they only nerfed his strongest addon, without buffing the several weak ones.

I am more surprised they didn't do that to every killer they touched. Like, some actually got improvements which shocked me.

It's not even survivor favoured though lol. That's why it's called server-sided hit validation. If you want to see something survivor sided then make the survivor client the judge and I promise you will never get a single hit in again.

I mean by the nature of the interaction. Survivor has control over the pallet, you know what I mean? If they are somewhat competent, it should result in very few trades because a good survivor ain't going to risk that interaction when just dropping it early is safe as is.

  • No clue. Probably? I do not have much of a choice.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I don't know why I would sabotage my teammates perks

I genuinely only have base perks (and Bill perks) on my Nancy, I actually have no clue what to do as it has no synergy with boon totems. I started as a Bill one trick when I first started playing and decided it was time to get a waifu because I started kind of enjoying survivor.

But I have been BUSY leveling all my killers. So now the build I enjoy is going to be ruined by boon totems. Feels bad man.

  • I mean, I am all for it. I need more intimate time with my hook victim. I love spending time with them and often they die too fast for me to truly get to know them.

  • Nah, we need the opposite. If a survivor camps a pallet, they should trade, if you do not want to risk it, predrop. As if hit validation isn't already survivor favored by nature. Like, what more do you actually want? How could they POSSIBLY make it any more lenient?

  • @bjorksnas said:

Wouldn't work, every rematch would devolve into survivors now knowing which killer it is and what build they are using and changing their builds to counter them

All doctor rematches are now full of calm spirit

All trapper rematches now have maps with trap tracking

All hag rematches now have 4 flashlights

decent idea but in practice it is highly abusable and no sane killer knowing these factors would probably want to use them so it just becomes a noob trap for people who don't know better

If anyone was insane enough to rematch my Basement Bubba, I would take great joy watching them on hook again.

  • No offense intended, but you could really tell the crazies from normal people based on whether they were acting like Pig was buffed. Pretty blatant they were going to nerf her good add ons. The bigger surprise was that the only add on that most people suspected would get nerfed (Alchemist Ring)... well, didn't.

Tampered timer was like the number one add on that survivor mains cry about though. I say that as someone who only knows the name to half a dozen add ons. Rofl.

  • @slendermansmoom said:

I think they are way to OP an specificly the healing one is ganna start selfcare like habits for people playing with it. WE ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH SELF CARE GAMERS IN ARE LIFES. (im talking to you claudette mains who don't run botany.)

It is not the self care people you need to worry about. Us inner strength cats are coming for your boon totems, bruh.

  • I am happy for you. My ps4 is acting really strange, so you never know. I do not want to buy ANOTHER one as these these things are garbage and I am on my third. If it dies on me, I might just get a ps5 as DBD is really the only game I play nowadays.

  • Leatherface. He is an amazing killer to learn the game with (and BBQ/Franklin's, but I do not want to be a parrot). Do not buy any original characters with real money. Most of them aren't worth having and you will get a decent amount just by playing.

  • If the killer main is one of those fools that doesn't run lightborn and is stupid enough to stay in the lobby? I could see the potential.

Honestly the 4 man flashlights aren't what you need to watch out for. Double flashlight squads are WAY more competent.

  • It kind of makes me feel weird as an inner strength gamer, like... Should I destroy my team's boon for that sweet locker heal? My mind's telling me no, but my body? My body is telling me YES!

  • People are just overreacting. Boon totems are extremely healthy for the game, glad the developers were bold enough to finally nerf killers.

  • They just needed to buff survivors more because the game is extremely killer sided. I think they didn't go far enough, but there will be time to add Boon Totems that decrease the time it takes to complete generators so that maybe, one day, I can escape a match.

"You people" I get though it depends on context, "this one" being less bad but maybe needing context.

In what world though is "McDonald Wifi" a racial thing? I've only ever heard that used as a way to describe someone with really awful internet. Even googling it I only get a few articles about some dude who worked there who said a bad word.

I'd really like a deeper explanation on that one.

I feel like it would be racist to explain why he thinks it is racist.

Bubba facecamp is a good medicine.

What are they going to do? Heal fast?! Muahahahaha!

Inb4 Boon Totem that makes their hook progress halt while you beat them on hook. Rip, the dream.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    It's hilarious with Trickster.

    Calm down people.

They might even buff boon totems by the end of it, I wouldn't be surprised. We shall see!

  • Blight is the real winner of this patch, if you ask me. I assume we will be seeing a lot more of him.

you know that 'spamming ads' only 'worked' when you literally stopped running away to press a or d or crouch?

You hashtag exposed them! Luckily they do not need to deal with that oppressive mechanic any longer, so who is truly the winner?

  • @Aneurysm said:

Firstly, well done for being rational about it and not just screaming about how slinger has been murdered because of evil survivors like some slinger mains have been carrying on.

I think the semi-stealth aspect was also pretty frustrating although not as much as ADS spam. Stealth + range being the annoying part. I would've probably given him some lullaby equivalent like huntress or trickster, although this way does mean he can use undetectable/oblivious perks in the way they can't.

So I would probably keep all the current nerfs, maybe add something to make him a better killer in ways other than the chase, not that I have much of an idea how to do that, and probably increase his range. I prefer it when each killer has something the others can't do. So apart from being able to fire one off quicker than huntress which isn't much on its own, he should probably have some secondary ability.

The something he could do that no one else could do was stealth with range. And that required a perk, anyways. But yeah, he is not really worth playing anymore unless you like him.

  • Do we? Does survivor have some NOED equivalent? Those hacker stuns that take like 30 seconds to end are a perk now?

  • Yeah, I wish she got the Pig treatment. That would have been funny.

  • Yo, they just buffed my GF raw? That is sick, cuh. I thought there were only going to touch add ons. I am legit so happy.

  • It becomes really addictive. You can even swap Spirit Fury for Bamboozle and get super vaults (because Fire Up stacks) to disrespect windows and pallets. Survivors will never know what to do, guaranteed!

I prefer that as it mitigates pre dropping and on maps without a lot of pallets, you get a lot of late game value in chase.

  • I just can't get excited about gutted mechanics. Even as a killer main. It just feels kind of sloppy.

But, well, you know... Deep down (like the shallow end of a kiddie pool) I hated that pity door, so there is a part of me that is glad this happened. Generally speaking, I prefer balance mechanics, however.

  • It looks like a wax doll. Love it. Just fix his face and voila.

  • @bm33 said:

It seems weird they have to change the names. I thought the names were already pretty generic.

I am not sure they have to. I mean, clearly they had a wack contract, but I feel they are just doing this to justify making them generic.

  • @Angelicus23 said:

    I really don't get it

Killers say they don't have time to look for boon bones because they must just chase and kill

But also want to look for bones to set up the Hexes themselves?

If you could see totems auras for the first minute, it would be really fast compared to searching for the specific totem survivors blessed. Heading to a known location versus finding a hidden totem are totally different things.

  • To make the gameplay more engaging. I do not mind more stuff to do during the match.

  • @justbecause said:

Trapper gets buffed, pig gets buffed, plague gets buffed, myers add ons gets buffed but your calling them out being survivor sided because they nerfed two killers that needed nerf? Hypocrisy at it's finest

How is that hypocrisy? Minor buffs to 2 killers do not compensate for moderate nerfs to 2 other killers. Especially when you consider the pick rate discrepancy. They just got rid of a negative speed penalty on one Myers add on. I do not really know about Pig, better to just wait and see.

I am surprised you didn't mention them getting keys and hatch. Those are MASSIVE changes that are really super killer centric, albeit, boon totems are tracking to be super survivor sided. So it all balances out. I guess?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

the killer is going to be pathetici, and i say this as a surv main. he was extremely map dependent now he's going to be viable in like 2-3 open small maps like dead dawg or in 3 gen situations in maps like autohaven now. i don't think there's any reason to pick deathslinger over huntress now other than free reload and easier to play.

If I am being honest, I didn't see the reason to play him over Huntress even before the nerfs.

Oh I 100% live by this. I will throw games to tunnel key users, and if I have a mori of any kind you bet I'll be sure to use that on him. I also put on franklins when I see multiple more than two items and they both are flashlights.

If someone blinds me? They die. I will beat them on hook the entire time. Or maybe even watch them bleed out if I have time. It is a simple rule and I wear Lightborn if I see one flashlight and often dodge lobbies at night if the killer I am playing doesn't have Lightborn. But sometimes they slip through the cracks, or find one in a chest... And a good portion of those never even blind me. The ones that do? They get what is coming to them.

As I stated in my initial post, I tried for months to try to like this map. The aesthetic is amazing. The graphics are wonderful. The gameplay is absolute dog #########.

Oh, I didn't realize what that meant by that.

I can hardly blame you. It is just one of "those" maps. Feels bad man. At least you tried, because believe me, there are plenty who hate it just as much and never put the effort in.

  • If you do not try on the map, maybe just spend the time before the game ends familiarizing yourself with the layout. It is not easy, but eventually you will kind of get the hang of it... maybe.

  • Probably the same situations, it is just way more clunky.
