I am working up to making an Obsession build for the Spirit to make her have a "spirit of vengeance" motif. It will be Play with Your Food, Rancor, Save the Best For Last and Make Your Choice. It might not be statistically the most viable build, but holy ######### will it be fun to run

I never use SC. I never use Meta perks at all for that matter. Players who run meta in any game are trash.
I forget who originally said it, but SC, DS, Adreneline, Borrowed Time and Dead Hard are all crutch perks that are used to allow survivors to make more mistakes at the expense of the killer's time.
Well not everybody wants to run Deja Vu, Resilience, Left Behind, and This Is Not Happening. I guess 95% of the player population is trash is your eyes seeing how they run the “meta perks”...survivors and killers both included.
Meta survivor perks: Self Care, Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, Dead Hard, and Decisive Strike
Meta killer perks: BBQ, Nurse’s Calling, Hex: Ruin, Enduring, and NOED
So you haven’t ever ran any of these perks?
I've run every perk in the game. My point is that meta perks are incredibly overrated and once a pkayer gets good enough, they shouldn't feel the need rely on them as a crutch anymore.
BBQ and WGLF are both necessary for when you are farming points.
Enduring has it's fun uses (like being paired with spirit fury) but you shouldn't be getting hit by pallets that much anyway.
Btw Resilience + This is not Happening + No Mither is a very fun combination.
My build is Self Care, Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, and Empathy on Meg. I run a typical “meta build” on her since she is one of my strongest survivors seeing how I’ve P3 her all the way.
Once I P3 Claudette however I’m gonna try to do a “ninja” type build with Calm Spirit, Iron Will, and either Urban Evasion or Quick and Quiet. I just can’t bring myself to get rid of Self Care especially if I don’t have Bond because I don’t like relying on my teammates when I could be doing something productive like fixing gens.
I live some rounds with meta perks and I die some rounds with meta perks. Killers run their meta perks so why shouldn’t survivors? I just say use the perks you want and don’t be concered about what the other survivors have as perks.
It's not that nobody should use meta perks, because if that were the case, why even have them in the game in the first place? Survivor or killer, it's that people get so caught up on what is the "best" and then they start to believe that certain perks are absolutely necessary to play the game and push that line of thinking onto other people. People should experiment with perk combinations and pick out perks to suit their playstyle and what they personally think is the most fun.
The devs have shown the statistics of the meta perks several times and they are not the ones who have the highest survival rate at all.
So good on you for trying out new things just because they sound cool to you. And in all likelihood, you will perform better with that setup simply because you enjoy it more.
Also about Franklin's: I use Franklin's with trapper and then booby trap the items on the ground. It's hilarious.

are you guys currently fixing the flashlight bug with the Spirit?
I thought the flashlight weakness was intentional
A flashlight weakness would make sense lore wise... Since Wraith and Nurse have lightborn from being ghosts.
But the current bug is prob not intentional.
That is the exact reason I thought it was intentional lol

- They're a bell spamming Wraith
- They are frequently nodding
- They actually friend you in the lobby solely to tell you that they're farming.
- They take you to a generator and hit it.
Unless one of these things happens, assume they're out for blood.
if the killer "Theoretically" farms with me to the point where i am maxed out everywhere except survival (which can happen from self care healing) i dont care if i die i will allow them to kill me. i usually "theoretically" farm as killer since i usually only play killer for forced killer rituals and then just farm. if one of them doesn't want to farm then i kill that one. all of this is all "theoretical" of course i would "Never" farm since its against the game rules.
No. It's not. -
If I farm with a killer I usually want them to kill me at the end. I got plenty of points farming, so I have no business being salty from dying.

For me, I do it because they are the one who is injured and they would be the more likely one to down between the two if they got unhooked right next to me. And really, this is an efficiency thing. Of course, once I have lost focus on that target (either after they died, escaped or I got away from the hook without seeing anyone trying to unhook them) then I tunnel that ######### who was stupid enough to unhook someone right in front of me.
Edit: misunderstood what you meant.
A lot of killers do this to silence the scream of a survivor or to signal to them "Oh my god please stop struggling because I am impatient" -
Anyway excellent suggestion. I would like more okaystyle oriented perks as well

No mither does too have compensation. So many people forget about the "self recover" and no blood/less sound thing. Plus it synergizes very well with Resilience and This is not HappeningDabrownman1812 said:
David kings perk is supposed to be hard mode, too many people expect compensation. No compensation, it is for people who found surviving too easy. Dead hard is there to compliment dead hard.No_Mither_No_Problem said:So, my friends and I had a discussion about how very few of DBD's Perks actually "ecourage" or "reward" certain playstyles.
For example, David's Perks talk about rewarding high-risk play, but the truth is, they absolutely do not. They either don't involve risky play at all (WGLF, Dead Hard), or force it upon you with no compensation.
"Altruistic" Perks don't actually reward you for helping your teammates—they only make it slightly easier or, in the cases of BT and WGLF, encourage farming instead of altruism.
Laurie's Perks are supposed to "grant her powerful abilities at the cost of leaving her exposed". The only one that does this "well" is Object of Obsession, and it sucks. A lot.
I think you get the idea. So myself and one friend made a series of Perks that openly encourage and reward certain playstyles, either through giving you buffs and points for playing this way or punishing you for not. I figured it'd be nice to get some feedback on these Perks.
Selfish Perks
A majority of the people in the discussions felt that the endless buddy-buddy working of Survivors is what led to a lot of problems like genrushing and easy unhooks. They assert DBD is a game where your trust of the strangers around you is always shaky—you have a common goal, but they aren't your friends, nor are they your teammates, and you shouldn't treat them as such because they may not do the same for you. As such, one member of the discussion created a set of Perks designed around playing selfishly—rewarding you for screwing over other Survivors. These are the unique Perks of his murderous Survivor character, Zraxan Axak.
Nothing Personal
You matter, and you're the only person you need to watch out for. Action speeds decreased by 20/15/10% when it is a coop action. Action speeds are increased by 6/8/12% while you are working alone.
Unique to Zraxan Axak until Level 30, where it becomes a teachable.
"There's only one person I ever cared about, and you're not them, kid." ~ Zraxan AxakKiller Within
A little blood on your hands is always exhilarating. After successfully escaping a chase, survivors within a 16/24/32 meter radius of the killer will be revealed to them for 3/4/5 seconds.
Unique to Zraxan Axak until Level 35, where it becomes a teachable.
"The first wasn't easy, but the second was pure bliss." ~ Zraxan AxakYour Own Priority
Narcissism runs through your blood. You suffer from the Vengeful status effect. All other Survivors are notified of this at the start of the trial. While you are still alive, all Survivors recover from all status effects 30/40.50% faster. When you are sacrificed or killed, all Survivors remaining in the trial suffer from the Broken status effect for thirty seconds when entering the injured state and recover from all status effects 10% slower.
Unique to Zraxan Axak until Level 40, where it becomes a teachable.
"My sister's not home, but why don't I let you in?" ~ Zraxan AxakSelfless Perks
These are the Perks I designed for my codependent Survivor character, Chtepil Kluexatik. I designed these Perks to be high-risk high-reward, punishing you for even the slightest selfish decision and in return giving you strong bonuses for helping your teammates.
Selfless
You live for others. When taking a hit for another Survivor, the Killer is forced to face you for 3/4/5 seconds and can see your Aura for as long as they are locked on to you. For every Survivor you heal out of the dying state or "unhook heal" gain a token up to a maximum of 5 tokens. Each token increases your repair, heal, sabotage, vaulting, dying recovery, exit opening, and cleansing speed by 1/1.5/2%.
"Sure, I could let others die to save myself. But the blood on my hands would be hard to clean off." -Chtepil KluexatikWatch Over Me
Nobody here is out of the woods yet; your job isn't done. For every Survivor still alive in the trial when you escape, you lose 1000 Bloodpoints. For every Survivor that escapes before you, gain 1250/1500/2000 bonus Bloodpoints.
"I'm not letting you die." -Chtepil KluexatikStrength in Numbers
No man is an island; every man's death diminishes you. For every injured, dying or hooked Survivor gain a token.
1 token: Repair speed decreased by 5%.
2 tokens: Movement speed when not in a chase decreased by 5%.
3 tokens: You suffer from the Exposed status effect. When all three other Survivors are healthy/injured with No Mither, the security of knowing your team is safe gives you unexpected energy. Gain the following bonuses:
Tier 1: no bonus/no bonus/all action speeds minus repair speeds are increased by 10%.
Tier 2: no bonus/gain a 10 second Enduring timer when healed out of the dying state/all action speeds minus repair speeds are increased by 15%.
Tier 3: grants immunity to the Cursed status effect/gain a 10 second Enduring timer when healed out of the dying state/all action speeds minus repair speeds are increased by 20%.Stealth Perks
These Perks I designed to reward you for being stealthy—stealthy, not “immersed”. Immersion is genuinely more infuriating than getting looped. These Perks are tied to my fictional Survivor character, Vitaliy Mikhailev.
Quick Getaway
It's better to run to safety than to try and stay safe. For every five seconds you are within the Killer's Terror Radius and not in a chase, gain 1 token up to a maximum of 2/3/4 tokens. Each token gives you a haste status effect of 2%. When entering a chase or when in the Killer's Terror Radius and not moving, you lose one token every two seconds. Tokens are preserved but not activated when outside of the Killer’s Terror Radius.
"Davai, koresh! He can't see us!" -Vitaliy MikhailevSweet Freedom
Get away before they come back! Upon freeing yourself or being freed from a bear trap, reverse bear trap, or hook, break into a sprint at 150% of your normal running speed for 3 seconds if you are freed within the Killer's Terror Radius or enter it within 3/5/7 seconds of being freed.
Sweet Freedom ignores Exhaustion.
Causes Exhaustion for 60/50/40 seconds.
”We're not out of the woods yet—literally." -Vitaliy MikhailevOne With Nature
You know how to blend in with your surroundings. For every ten seconds you are within the Killer's Terror Radius and not in a chase, gain a token up to a maximum of 2/3/4 tokens. When One With Nature has at least one token, when the Killer attempts to read your aura, they will be unable to. Each time One With Nature blocks the Killer's aura reading abilities, one token is consumed.
"I don't need a locker to hide in plain sight." -Vitaliy Mikhailev
The action speeds thing is cool but gens being done too quick is already an issue and devs are trynna help slow the game down for the killer at your nothing personal perk. Same thing for healing and getting tokens for repair, more perks that makes gens get done fast or too many of them can be abused easily by swf perks should be made with that in mind.
The free sprint is interesting and ignoring exhaustion is powerful, gotta see how it plays out. It sounds interesting, has many chances to trigger unlike adrenaline so idk how it will effect the meta or balance of the game in practice. Interesting perks for stealth. Some perks are super abusable and can be an issue. If the vengeful perk stacks that's an issue as less than 30 seconds to charge exhaustion perks are gonna create infinites. Be cool for more details on how these perks work.
One with nature loses 1 token per aura reading right?. -
There are no must perks. However I do agree that distance based voice comm should be in the game for survivors, with killer able to hear themTheLegendDyl4n1 said:@Spiritbx said:

Dead by Daylight was advertised and marketed as a horror game every step of the way. I find that Self-Care reduces the risk of being injured as I can heal myself should I get away. This makes the killer and the game a whole less scary as my mistakes don't mean nearly as much. So since Self-Care removes the worry, why do we use it? You paid for a horror game, don't you want to be scared?
if im in a SWF i dont usually run it since i can tell my friends where to heal me or they can tell me what gen they are on so they can heal me. the problem for me comes down to if i dont run it when i run solo, which is 99% of the time ususally, then i fear i wont be able to find any other teamates before the killer comes around me again and then they will find me due to my crying. this is why i started running No mither, Dead hard or sprint burst, resilience, and Were gonna live forever (when i am done getting points i will switch it for DS but now i am planning on running deliverence)
Read what you said. Thats why survivors are OP with voice comms. The game wasnt that survivor sided before, but then swf with voice comms got popular. This completely broke the fine balance of a 4v1 game.
The game isnt balanced around you always getting healed up, thats what the OP is saying in his post, that it ruins the survival horror aspect of the game.
Not knowing if you can find someone to heal you before the killer finds you is scary and thrilling.
AKA the power of the meta perks and SWF is ruining the initial appeal of the game.i am talking about how when playing solo its a must perk since most other survivors would rather do a gen or hide then heal me and when they do they mess up on skill checks. Comms should of been added from the beginning for everyone. read my post on this if you want but i feel it should be in the game with risk involved

What are your thoughts on the spirit?
Here's my take on her after exclusively playing her since her release and already having her at P3:
Firstly, I think the nerfs after the PTB were unnecessary.
You now can hear when she is using her power and know exactly where she is due to directional cues. Survivors can't tell if she is using her power only if they are within 8 meters of her husk. In my opinion you should not be able to tell that at all.
She was already quite bad and I think this nerf was unjustified, she is all about jumpscares and mindgames anyway to those nerfs really hurt her and got rid of the scare factor.
I also think her base kit should be better but her addons should be nerfed to make up for it.
Like faster activation of her power, longer duration, speed and recovery and a bit longer sprint after phase walking by default. She is really addon dependant which isn't good.
I also think she should be able to use her ability as long as she has charges. Having to wait 20 seconds for the ability is such a bad thing. If you mess up your prediction of the ability you have to wait a long time until you can use it. The long cooldown of her ability really punishes her if she misses. Other killers have 'forgiving' abilities without cooldowns but if you fail to make a read with the spirit you get punished really hard.
In addition, she should lose sight of survivors if she has channeled the bar of her power completely, not at the start of the channel.
Also, her ultra rare Ring addon is super bad. Not being able to see scratch marks is never worth it for the faster speed in phase walk. You are better off using any other addon for more speed or something else. The "tremendously increased movement speed" just isn't worth it because of the downside of not seeing scratch marks.
IMO it should be reworked to allow the spirit to pass through pallets and windows when using her phase walk. Or just give her faster activation time and lunge after coming out of phase combined with more passive phasing. Kinda like the purple amulet addon that does more things at once. And please get rid of not being able to see scratch marks when using this addon
Also, her 'passive phasing addons' should get an additional active effect like faster recovery or something else because these addons really don't feel impactful on their own (tested it in KYF) and you don't see their impact when playing as the Spirit.
Whats your opinion about the spirit?
so make her op and be able to always fake the power going around a pallet? literally if you cant hear her power then how will you know if she is going around the pallet or just sitting thier waiting?
That's the points, you shouldn't know until you see grass move or you see her pop up. If you could tell what she was doing, then boom, no more mind games. She can no longer trick you. This killer is meant to deceive you. To trick you into thinking she is doing one thing when she is really doing another.

@Dreamnomad , Oh, I get what you're saying, and I understand why they're "meta," but I'm wondering if this is actually a game for me. I mean, it seems like I have to grind out Killers, whether or not I'm interested in them, to level 35 or more, to get these teachable meta-perks, before I'm able to actually play the killer I would enjoy. Some people like LF or Hag, for example. Me? Not all that much. But that's where the perks are that everyone stresses needing. Which kind of makes the whole thing feel like an Asian grindfest: grind this and that, and then you can have fun.
I don't know. Maybe this game isn't for me after all.
You can also unlock the perks in the shrine of secrets. It is not necessary to unlock every perk in order to enjoy the game. I unlocked every killer perk naturally over time. Never felt like I was grinding,
-
Watch Tru3Ta1ent sometime. He gives a lot of good advice.
My advice would be "Ignore people calling you toxic for just playing how you want to play." Unless you used exploits, bugs, or were going out of your way to ruin the game experience for a certain player, you did nothing wrong. Enjoy the game and have fun.
Also if you get stressed out from a match, there is no rule saying you can't just take it easy and farm the next round as long as you don't force other people to farm with you if they don't want to. -
If this were to be fair, it would have to be small. Like 3% for a full heal bar.
-

Most of the time no, except bbq and chili for the points. My favorite killer build right now is Devour Hope, The Third Seal, Save the Best for Last and Play with Your Food. Very fun to run

I love going against Doctor, Pig and Spirit (in no particular order.) They each scare the piss out of me in their own unique way, even when they play badly. I never get so nervous in DbD as when I spawn and see a Jigsaw Box.
EDIT: Oh and the least. That would be Hillbilly or Leatherface. They are too easy to play against and just don't scare me like when I first started playing the game. Hillybilly always either gets crushed by me or winds up being an MLG that ######### slugs all 4 of us within the first couple minutes. Either way not fun.
-
I mean, I COULD run Doctor with Distressing, Unnerving Presence, Overcharge and Ruin if I really wanted to force the game to be slowed down, but I would like to actually have a decent 10-15 minute game most of the time without having to force it with ######### that is going to wind up making the match no fun for anyone.
-
Escaping is not the only objective in the game, and what irritates me is when players do nothing but escape. To put it into words that a survivor main would understand the frustration of: Imagine if there was an event where you got triple points for escaping and every single match you went into that day was a triple-blink Nurse with an ebony mori. That's what it feels like for a killer to encounter nothing but gen rushers. It feels like you wasted your time even going into the match.
-
You make it sound like auras are never visible to her. If you are phase walking, you are either rushing somewhere or in active pursuit of someone, not looking for people to chase.
-
Hahahahaha holy #########
-
And you know, it really REALLY does not matter if you survive or not as survivor. I have gotten 28k and died plenty of times and that is what I would call a successful match. Survival is not the goal, especially not during a double bloodpoint event. Pips and bp. Rushing barely gets you one pip and often nets you less than 15k bp.
-
And see, that misunderstanding is kind of my point. When I say survivors should get over 20k before leaving, people think I mean farming with the killer. No. It is not hard to get that much but nobody tries. Everyone just rushes and accepts a much smaller reward, which is no fun for anyone who actually wants an engaging match that was worth their time.
-
I'm not trying to farm. I am trying to actually have a good match. And my definition of a good match is that it was challenging AND every single player got over 20k, regardless of who won.
-
And before someone asks why they are getting out of the exit, I am not trying to sacrifice anyone, I just get them to death hook then leave them down without finishing them off so they can get the 5k for survival.
-
While I agree we need more features, having more killers, survivors and maps is not anywhere near being a bad thing
-
While that would be really cool, it would be incredibly difficult to actually put into the game in a timely manner and have be well optimizedFreddykreuger said:Freddy needs a few buff
i think each survivor should have a fear and when they enter the dream world it appears to them as that fear
And the dream world should be randomized each game -
I always a make a point to bully toxic players with gameplay rather than words. And I mean actually toxic. Not camping or gen rushing. Those are annoying but not toxic. Toxic would be like this where they were trying to run around the killer and tap gens, then instaheal and teabag and #########.

In the hands of a skilled killer, BBQ is very good. Especially with Billy and Nurse. Granted, I only use i for BP too, but in the right hnds, it is very dangerous.iceman2kx said:@TheHourMan said:
We already do reward the killer for leaving woth Devour Hope, Make Your Choice and BBQ and ChiliI had to comment because I feel this is an ignorant statement. Devour Hope sucks. Why? Because it's a useless totem perk built around worthless RNG aspects. A survivor can cleanse this perk in <30 seconds.
And I'm sorry to say this and I don't mean any offense by this, but survivors that complain about BBQ just aren't very good at this game. If you play survivor knowing killers are running BBQ and Leatherface trucks his chubby butt across the map and mows you down, you deserve to be hooked. The only reason I (and a bunch of other killers) even run this perk is for the BP bonus. You can see a huge skill gap between (good) survivors at rank 1 and rank 10 just by running BBQ. BBQ just isn't that good of a perk against survivors with a drop of common sense.
Devour hope works for me more often than not, and people will be a little more wary of totems after Haunting Grounds is in the game.
And Make Your Choice, though rarely used by killers, is a solid way to encourage distancing yourself from survivors for a quick double down.
The fact of the matter is that since we brought skill level into the convo, you have to take into account killer skill too. A skilled killer will never camp and early hook unless it is being swarmed. Lastnight there were two survivors looping me right next to a hook and there was only one person working on gens. They got pissed and accused me of facecamping when I downed and rehooked the survivor, then downed one of them and hooked them on the same hook, then downed the third one and hooked them. That was entirely their own fault and they should have not looped there like idiots. If it were left up to me, I would have just left the hook and looked for more survivors, but swarming forced me to stay there and chase.
-
Actually, the airport idea is the only one that really caught my attention here. I would love to see an Airport map. Only I think maybe 1 gen should be in an actual plane, just to make it so the rest of the map gets explored more.
-
Lmao so saying something was hard to read becaue of no punctuation is toxic and ban material? It's not. Anyway, some people literally can not mash space quickly due to disability, such as carpal tunnel. It's nice to have alternatives. As someone suggested on another post, skill checks.
-
I see you took all your punctuation and put it at the end there. Seriously that was hard to read with no periods or commas.TheLegendDyl4n1 said:the point of struggling is in the name S T R U G G L I N G if all you had to do was hold down the spacebar (or for me on xbox A) then it wouldnt be a struggle your fighting for your life and those delicious Bloodpoints i main survivor and sometimes the game does glich/lag and stop me from struggling but i just come to the conclusion it was probably for the best since the killer had a ebony mori......
-
I just set "hold to turbo" A button to my ps4 controller's touchpad in Steam and it works wonderfully. Carpal Tunnel. I should not be mashing any buttons. Used to love button mashing when i was younger but I just can't do it anymore or it will make my hands worse.
-
If survivors aren't going to extend the same courtesy toward me (ie. gen rushing) then I'm not going to worry about how much fun they're having and I'm usually going to lecture them in chat afterwards for only getting a safety pip and less than 20k bp.
It is a very common misunderstanding in DbD that the point of survivor is only to survive, when there is so much more to it than that.
No killer has "fun" in a match that lasts 5 minutes, whether they won or lost. -
I did. Trust me, lag mostly comes from the killer's side since they are host. And most lag in DBD on console comes from the hardware not being able to handle everything that is going on. As @FrenziedRoach explained, this will cause network lag regardless of your connection speed. I have excellent ping most of the time as killer (less than 100 a lot of the time) but still experience what SEEMS like network lag. This only happens on console. This is due to poor optimization. Wait for a patch before you invest more money into your ISPCodyJia said:I agree that the game is poorly optimised, but I am sure it's network lag. If you read what I posted in detail, you will agree too. -
Sort of, but maybe it's not that you are "good at survivor" but that you are focused on performing a singular objective as survivor, whereas playing as killer forces you to multitask constantly and puts pressure on you to make it fun for everyone else too.
-
Try finding something else to do in between. That's my advice
