  • Disclaimer: This post is very opinionated but reply with your own opinions!

Im sorry but when I look throught the “balance fixes” or whatever its called category, all I see is killers complaining about slight advantages that survivors have. Im honestly hoping the devs will read this so they dont get convinced to do any of these.

    -The Hatch.
I see a lot of salty killer mains on here complaining about the hatch. First of all, killer is already very overpowered. Removing the hatch would make killer even more unbalanced. Sure, the idea to close it was good, but thats basically a game over for survivor. Unless, they can clutch (assuming) three gens. Also, this is targeted toward specific killers who think theyre gods at the game but complain about hatch. If youre so good at the game, you should be able to track down the hatch, and grab the survivor. Perks like insidious would help. Also, you could just kill the survivors before the gens are done (its not that hard) plus, i dont think that you would want to wait around for an immersed survivor whose probably sitting in a locker, waiting for you to DC. If you really think that hatch is a free win for survivors youre wrong. Im sorry but you are.

    -Infinites.

Infinites are patched and it is basically impossible to infinite. Killer will get bloodlust and get you. Killer is so easy, and i can easily counter infinites. (im a trash killer)

I know my infinite point wasnt as in depth as my hatch breakdown. But the overall lesson is that killers need to stsrt getting used to not winning and grow a pair. ( y e e h a w ) 🤠

Also, i know the devs will most likely never remove the hatch, but if theyre thinking about it, this is to persuade them not to.
"Killers are overpowered" "killers need to get used to not winning and grow a pair"

Anyway, you must be fairly new to the game. This is not a complaint from me, simply a statement of reality: killers are far less powerful than survivors with two exceptions, which are nurse and spirit. This is purely speaking in terms of potential ability. In expert play, nurse and spirit are the only killers that are capable of defeating an optimal survivor team.
  • Have the Entity randomly appear around the map and change things (like placing or taking event items) thoughout the match. Making it so the survivors have to find the item and work on it while the entity moves it around randomly. Maybe make it a special dark hex totem that takes 160 seconds to complete and gets moved every 20 seconds. The totem will disappear even when survivors are working on it. Multiple survivors can work on it together and each get full points for the amount of time and there is no speed penalty. This means it will always give the same amount of points no matter how many people work on it. Then the killer can get event points by forcing the item to move with a 5 second long interaction and hooking survivors who had worked on it. If the totem happens to disappear before the killer finishes the action, they still get the points for it as if they had finished. The more the survivor had worked on it, the more points they are worth. They get a dark aura around them as they gather more points from it. They lose half of the points when they are hooked and the killer gets exactly that amount. The points are awarded post-match.

There is a UI widget at the top right part of the screen that shows how many points you currently have in the match.

I think this event promotes proactive play from both sides. It encourages the killer to go and move the totem, but also  allows them to collect hook rewards for just protecting the gens and killing survivors. It also means survivors will never get zero event points as long as they worked on the totem, since they lose half every time they are hooked.

The totem shoild be worth a total of 20,000 bloodpoints for the 160 seconds. That means it is worth 80 points per second. This is given in full among the survivors working on it if multiple are working on it at the same time. This way it will always give out exactly 20k. Killer can get a max of 20k as well.
  • Also, a perfect killer will always lose to a good survivor team... unless that perfect killer happens to be nurse or spirit.

  • Try playing against nurse at rank 1 and tell us how weak she is. She is by far the strongest killer. And saying "she is really hard to use, so she's not the strongest" is nonsense. That doesn't make an expert nurse any less powerful.

I don't think she is overpowered, but she is absolutely unbeatable in a chase if you face a good nurse. There is literally nothing you can do but run maybe 5 steps then go down. Nurse doesnt even need addons to be that strong.

the hatch rework?? DS change?? I thought they stopped trying to balance them. I am quite sure they said it.

I knew they tried a hatch rework that they didn't like. I didn't know they had abandonded reworking it completely though. That's disappointing.

That's not true. They're replacing the end game with an entirely new system. No more hatch at all.

  • Especially because of what they said in last week's devstream about "the PTB comes kn about a month."

Next ptb on feb 19th will no doubt have a new killer and maybe a freddy rework that wont go live and will probably go live next mid chapter patch.

So accurate, that's the exact date for the next big update to hit the ptb.

I hate to burst your bubble, but on the last devstream they said the ptb would be out in about a month. The last one was on January 31st. One month from January 31st would be March 8th.

On top of that, Chapter 10 came out on December 11th. It hasn't even been 2 months yet since that came out. It has only been about 2 weeks since the mid-chapter patch came out. We should expect to wait another 4 weeks after February 11th. This means the PTB should come out around the end of the first week of March or the last week of February, then the chapter will release 14 days later. The pattern for a while has been: teaser. 5 days later ptb. 14 days later release. Spirit was an unusual case because there were issues in development with her.

Mid-March is when the chapter should release as long as everything goes smoothly.

january 31? the mid chapter patch was released on live servers in janury 22, what patch was in the ptb those days?
And there is a thing im missing, i think i'm gonna burst your bubble, from december 11 to january 22 there are six weeks right?, 22 january plus four weeks means new release in ptb server, and its in february 19 as we said, and two weeks later its will hit the live server, its will around march 5.
Then where is the point im missing?, i don't see a reason to burst my bubble :(

It still hasn't even been 2 months yet since the release of Legion. Their goal is to release a new chapter every 3 months. That puts the most likely date in the 2nd week of march, with the PTB being close to end if February.

Because it cuts down on the grind which is what helps to keep people playing the game.

True. But then you also have people complaining about the grind. So there is not any win win situation here. Maybe halving the points would be a good alternative?

I’m a new player. I’ve only been playing for about a week. So take what I say from that perspective; there are multiple layered grinds in the game.

You have to grind up all the characters whose perks you want.

Then you have to grind the character you want to play just to find those perks for that character.

Then if you want to play a different character you have to grind that character to find all the perks you want to equip on THAT character.

And that goes for both survivor AND killer side.

I think once you’ve unlocked a teachable perk then they should all start to show up after level 15 and you have to choose which one you go for each level instead of hoping that the one you want out of all the ones you’ve unlocked shows up.
Ohhh I understand where you're coming from now. Yeah the main difference between DbD and Warframe grind is that in DbD there is an attainable end in sight (getting all the perks unlocked and bought for the characters you want.) Once you have finished that, you still want to keep playing because it's fun to use those builds.

The grind is simply a means to an end in DbD. Once you finish your grind, I feel like getting rewarded BP and Iridescent shards should come with the territory. Especially when it comes to devotion ranks. I understand devotion ranks are simply meant to show your dedication, but you can't show off your devotion ranks to other players in-game. If I can't flaunt it, I would at least like to be rewarded for my efforts.
I honestly don’t know what devotion ranks are. O’m Going to assume they come with Prestiging a character?

if that’s the case, why not give killers with ranks (or between a number of ranks like 1-10, etc) Entity flair with their abilities or appearance?

maybe a Trapper with enough Devotion will have Entity claw-shaped bear traps, a charavter’s Weapon could lash out with Entity claws, a dark mist follows along behind them at their feet, etc?

Since cosmetics help to establish visual cues for things in game, why not have them be reflected for something like Devotion?
It's when you get your player level (iridescent shards one) to 100

I don't think DbD is the type of game where the grind IS the game (like Warframe.) DbD is a competetive game that people continue to play frequently even after they already have literally everything and tens of thousands of iridescent shards.

I still see people with OG prestige skins running around pretty often.

A lot of "children" play this game, complete with the implied mentality and sense of entitlement.

I hate that you have to DC more than 40% of your games (which is insane) in order to get punished for it. I think you should get punished for every DC.

I have always said that DC should not be bannable. Instead, every single perk you have bought with that character should be deranked by 1(or lost entirely if it was already level 1) and in order to get them again, you have to find them in the bloodweb all over again. EVERY single time you DC. However, I also am aware bugs exist, so you should be allowed 1 free DC every 24 hours.
  • I have a strange suspicion that the upcoming Dev Stream will be called:
"Dead By Daylight | #117 - Creation of The Legion".

Will we ever get a stream #118?
  • Another nurse and all her oh penis
  • It depends on how you define "evil."

Is it evil to kill for pleasure? Or is it insanity?

My view of evil is that it is the exact reverse of unconditional love. Evil is selfless. Where the one committing the evil acts get nothing out of it, but they do it purely out of the intent to inflict misery on someone else, even at the cost of making themself miserable in the process. Self sacrifice in order to cause pain on someone else, without getting any satisfaction or pleasure in it yourself.

That being said: who is the most evil killer? I would argue there are multiple candidates. Spirit, Nurse, Micheal. These three don't seem to take any pleasure in killing. They do it purely out of compulsion or malice. They harm others simply for the sake of causing harm to others. Like a force of nature. Indiscriminate and driven by cold, uncaring processes.

The devs have specifically stated several times, that the killer can leave the lobby at any time, for any reason, and they encourage killers to do so. Survivors have the same option, which they can and should use for bad latency. The moment the counter reaches 0 and switches to the offerings page, disconnecting is not allowed for any reason. The reason that killers are allowed to see what survivors are carrying is because the killer is at a disadvantage, and again, the devs have stated that it will not be removed.

    I agree with this.

Also, on the subject of updates benefitting killers: that's because there are a lot of useless killer perks and a lot of killers only play meta builds because they are objectively the best way to win. By buffing the useless killer perks, they are encouraging killers to stop using the meta and experiment with different perks. Same with buffing survivor perks. There is nothing wrong with making worthless things strong on either side. It only feels bad because it's the other side. I feel the same way when survivors get buffed, but then I have to stop and remknd myself that it DOES actually make the game better for everyone by adding more build variety.
  • I would use stbfl with killers who benefit from using their power immediately after a hit, like spirit. I would prefer pwyf for killers whose power let's them instantly lose a chase and start another one (just wraith right now.)

Spirit CAN benefit massively from pwyf though. If you use the prayer beads with her and use pwyf, you gain a huge speed boost to grab people, which does not make you lose tokens.

Because of this, I actually use both of these perks on my spirit build frequently.

    Like...okay?

    Neither does grabbing them
  • I get it... it saves the killer from SWF from getting the advantage of knowing what the killer has.. however, as someone who plays solo a lot (not always but a lot), I hate that I can’t even see what I was up against to make sure I can improve as a survivor the next time. I don’t want to have to wait for the game to end. It’s bad enough I have to wait a long time in the queue.. I don’t want to waste time waiting to see what the killer had. Now that was my personal beef.

For newer players, this is bad. Since newer players tend to die faster, how are they supposed to improve and learn the game and perks and add ons they lost to if they are hidden from them?

I honestly don’t think having swf groups being able to tell the others about the loadout was such a big deal that they had to make this change. This is frankly just annoying and unfair to newer players.

Please comment your thoughts and opinions below!

(and before you say it, yes I play killer about 75% of the time when I play alone. I never found this to be an issue for me)
I disagree. If you want to see the killer's equips, then wait until the match is over.

I agree, punishing Disconnects is not ideal.

I think people forget that most disconnects do not come from ragequits, etc.

There's a 13 year old kid who got told to get off the PS4 because his brother wants a turn.

Or me, who's roommate asking me to drive her to work mid-game.

Or a college student who forgot they had class

Or an angry sister who unplugged the router entirely out of petty

Or the Dad who's baby just woke up crying.

I am not fond of punishing disconnections. It is counter productive

I will counter most of your points.

    1. This game is rated M so a 13 year old technically shouldn't be playing this anyway. Granted we all have ignored ratings at some point, they are just recommendations.

    2. That isn't your responsibility anyway. I'm making a person wait because they are interrupting what I'm doing. If you quit to give your roommate a ride because they are irresponsible and waited till the last second to ask you, that's your fault.

    3. Ok, this is definitely your fault. I'm a college student. If you forget you have class, stop going to college because you aren't ready for the real world.

    4. Lock your door, or smack your sister upside her head for possibly destroying your property, she can damage your game by unplugging it while it is on, which is personal property, that's a crime and you have the right to self defense of property. Sorry but no one is walking over me like that.

    5. This is the only real legitimate concern.

If you give any kind of leeway for this ordeal, then people will take advantage of it and abuse disconnects. Sorry, but this is how it works. BHVR have said numerous times if you quit now and then you won't get banned, only if you have an absurdly high DC rating. You have to be harsh with disconnects, otherwise people will always quit because you won't be able to effectively deal with it otherwise.

Don't play multiplayer games unless you're sure you have free time, this is what it comes down to. There are 4 other people's fun you are ruining when you quit. Take responsibility for your actions.

    I disagree with you.

We are not trapped and obligated to stay into a game 24/7. If something comes up,** something comes up**. It's not fun to be punished for 30 minutes, or an 1 hour simply because of a mishap?

Again, right now the system is fine. If you are a ragequitter, then the system will eventually pick you out if you do it enough. I don't wanna be punished for my kid waking up, or having to drive my roommate somewhere and being friendly instead of a loser loner gamer more worried about his game shurgs

Then suicide on the hook, or idle. It at least gives other people the chance to get some points off you
  • Aside from the gen rush, I love it. It's really cool for the killer to have something in the map to break for points, and it's really cool to have a big point bonus for carrying the lantern safely as survivor
  • A lot of good points were raised on both sides. I personally like exclusive skins for people who were there at the beginning, but not really for events.

There should be sound settings in general, just like graphic settings.
Ridiculous that we have to request such stuff though

Then killers would be able to disable all music and ambient sound so they could hear breathing and footsteps. That would be unfair. No. Sound settings should only be a master volume and nothing else. MAYBE have something to replace the heartbeat sound, but it would have to be just as dynamic.

Cuz survivors can just suicide on hook and killer can go afk (and get some chasing points meanwhile if survivors farm).

Imo the devs have two better options to combat the current "DC meta":

    * They need to realise WHY people DC in the first place and fix the issues

    • Give the players more motivation to keep trying in an unfun match (more rewards for example)

Punishing DC's with bans is just a workaround and probably doesn't even work cuz people DC legit with suiciding on hooks etc.

AFKing is also a reportable cause

Well as killer you can be pseudo afk. For example as hillbilly, chainsawing as long as possible across the map. In theory you are not afk, but in reality you are not really participate in this match and it's kinda the same as beeing afk. And on top on that you get blood points.

Then that would still be reportable for farming

Farming is not against the rules.
  • DCs should be punished by reducing all perk levels by 1 instead of banning. You definitely can't just leave it unpunished because some people do it just to grief.

Also, on the subject of reckless unhooks: survivors should be able to kick away someone who is trying to unhook them.
  • Derank all perks that the quitter has by 1 every time they quit, requiring them to find the perks in the bloodweb again to get them back.

When this sort of thing happens, it is almost always because one lazy guy in development thought he would cut corners and didn't tell anyone that he did it. Do they really have this data? I doubt that tbh
Weve been told that footage is necessary if you wanna report someone holding the game hostage and AFAIK thats still the case (peanits said the same above)

They do. It is very lightweight. If you want to see examples of how that data can work, I suggest looking at mission summaries for Armored Core Verdict Day and Let it Die. They record all player and AI movement on the map throughout the mission and it is saved as an actually very small file.

However, unless it is reported, i doubt they keep the data as specific matches and instead just use them to gather statistics.

Why should they do that discrimination?

We waiting fix disconnect issue on console for 2.5 years. If killer disconnects during anytime in game, all survivors lose their item, gain 0 BP and just safety pip (even if you did more than 25K BP in game)
Has the game even been out on console 2.5 years?

    Edit: nvm
  • And if you DC beyond that, you should have your progress rolled back. Like having all your perks deranked by 1 and having to buy them in the bloodweb again.
  • DC is selfish and ruins the game experuence for everyone else involved. It is not a legitimate solution to improving the experience of the game for you and it absolutely should not be rewarded. Maybe being banned is too extreme, but only allowing 1 DC per 24 hours would be better
  • It should be around the end of this week. They usually put out the update 3-5 business days after the ptb ends.
  • TLDR: A "first hook" rescue should automatically have a 10 second borrowed time effect (that would stack with the perk) to discourage camping/tunneling and reduce toxicity in the game.

    Let's say... They do this.
    It wont change a thing.
Not being biased but dude, just giving a buff to the survivors wont stop it. Give a reward to the killer not doing it and still there will be thosewhom camp, and tunnel on purpose.
This. Psychology has shown that rewarding desirable behavior is much more effective than punishing undesirable behavior.
  • I have always said that every time you deliberately DC, ALL of your perks (not just the equipped ones) should be deranked by 1 and you should have to earn them in the bloodweb again.

Or that you are allowed 1 DC every 24 hours before this starts happening, just incase you are legitimately bugged and have no other choice.
