  • Get ZBrush if you are really serious about 3D modelling. But if you prefer the concept art side, pursue that. Getting a college degree for your desired position would be really good to put on your resume.

Same. Montana, less than 100 miles from Canadia
  • A perk that does this up to a certain percentage (let's say 30%) would be pretty well balanced. Personally, I like Huntress' Lullaby with Overcharge and Ruin, but that is overkill most of the time and takes 3 slots.
  • I agree. There needs to be more stealth perks or just stealth mechanics in general. I think the rock throw is a pretty nice addition, but not enough to make stealth an alternate playstyle to looping. I think adding more objectives to the game other than gens and altruism would be a nice addition as well.
  • I would probably just fix the framerate issues plaguing console. That's about it. Of course, there are other things that should be changed, but BHVR is already doing that now, so yeah.

Why cant people accept the fact that they have to wait? Just because a THEORIZED date was not right doesnt mean you can know when it comes out. Its been this way for all dlcs why would it change.

[BAD WORD]. I couldn't recall where I read that September 11th was to be the release date, but checked the dbd wiki, and they updated their release date to reflect that the date they have has not been confirmed. Really, we should be pissed at the people who make the wiki! Or just move on... lol

I don't think we should be pissed at anyone really. Let's just put the pitchforks down and move on. The wiki messed up. The devs aren't mad at them and we shouldnt be either. I think we can all agree that we love the game and many of you were disappointed that it wasn't today. And yeah, you may not agree with the method that BHVR used to tease rather than give conrete answers, but that is honestly a matter of opinion. It is not objectively wrong for them to do this. Some of us prefer it that way and others don't. There is no data to show that a majority felt one way or the oher, but the two most vocal crowds are the ones raging and the ones trying to calm them down, but the largest majority likely is just silent because they really don't care and didn't even know about the supposed 9/11 date.

The dlc will come. Life moves on. I am excited to play the Spirit. I saved up 1 mil bp for her and I will be right there with all of you when it comes out. See you in the fogggg
  • I think all survivors should have at least one clothing set as stealthy as prestige claudette tbh.
  • This would bea little too strong I think. Maybe just have it jump once at rank 3
  • I would be ok with this IF it was distance based (volume faded with distance and obstruction. Same as generator audio mechanics.) and directional (voice actually came from you character) and the killer could hear it too. Then it would actually be a very cool addition to the game. But the killer should never have voice comm. Would utterly destroy any semblance of suspense.

-4 minutes to complete with all four survivors working on it.
-20 second minimum work time to receive points upon completion.
-10,000 points rewarded for survivors (if destroyed)
-5,000 points rewarded for killer (of not destroyed)

Why sould the killer not also get 10k points?

Anyway I don't like the Idea to be able to destroy the basement hooks. I'm sure that those toxic 4man SWF groups will abuse this.

True. It doesn't necessarily have to be basement hooks. In my original post of this, I only referred to it as "an object with four open sides" but simplified it to the example of being basement hooks. And because if the survivors never went after the object, the killer would get a free 10k with no skill or action required. Giving the killer 5k is simply to compensate them for being in a fame where the survs gen rushed straight through the exit gates in like 5 minutes and everyone earned less than 15k bp. So that they don't feel like they TOTALLY wasted their time in that match.

Edit. Thinking about it more, 10k is not unreasonable at all for being in a match like that.

As long as I’m not waiting a freaking month after PC release. I’m good.

Most of the community is fine with waiting to make sure everyone gets it at the same time. The only ones with issues are the trolls starting flame bait threads, conspiracies, and those that're impatient.

No we aren't. It's stupid to force anyone to wait longer than they have to for the update. PC should't be forced to wait an extra week or two just because consoles take a while to allow the updates. What they should do is make sure that consoles get the update in as little amount of time as possible.

    Speak for yourself
  • I would be incredibly happy if they never released another licensed killer. They're unnecessary and take money away from the devs that could be put towards making the game better (e.g. dedicated servers).
Just wanted to say I love your name. Tarman for president, 2020!

Also, the only killers that I really hope we never EVER see in DbD would be Ghostface and any other average human serial killer. The Pig only worked because of the unique deathtraps from the movies. Jack Torrence, Norman Bates, Ghostface and the like may all be good characters from good movies, but that doesn't mean they will be good killers in DbD. Most importantly, Ghostface is a normal human being who has no special abilities beyond stabbing people with a knife and asking people trivia questions on the phone. That would not work in DbD with the current mechanics at all.

They would have to have something unique that they do in the movies that makes them stand out as "Hey, that would be a really good ability to go up against."
  • We have to keep game mechanics in mind as the primary determinant factor, not how much you liked the movie.

That being said, here is my list:

Puppetmaster. That would be very interesting and creepy having puppets running around. This would likely involve simple " wander around and attack/stun/grab survivors when within x radius" ai.

The Creeper. Flying. That is all. Indoor maps would likely make this impossible to implement as a mechanic though, unless those maps were simply locked out when the killer is the Creeper.

Candyman. By far the most interesting possible licenced killer. Mechanics would involve mirrors and swarms of bees. His weapon would be his iconic hook. Definitely a unique enough character to turn into a mechanically viable and fear enducing killer.

Edit: Tall Man. Power could involve the flying orbs being used to attack instead of the standard weapon swing. Movement would be slow and menacing. Would be hard to balance.

Honorable mentions that would not be viable due to a lack of an ability or mechanical issues: Pinhead (movement and extremely difficult power to create,) Ghostface (no power,) Chucky (too short for grass, no power,) Pumpkinhead (No power,) Herbert West Reanimator (Too complicated to make zombies a part of the game,) The Thing (Too animalistic, power mechanics too complicated, requires killing survivors to mimic them.)

  • The cosmetics will not be unlocked when you purchase the dlc if that is what you are asking. Hwoever, there shoild be some cosmetics that are release at the same time.
  • Also, that is IP from a video game series, not a movie like the other licenced killers. It would be much more difficult, especially considering Konami's reputation for screwing over anyone who works in Silent Hill
  • Because Konami is extremely protective of their intellectual property. They even go as far as not letting people within their own company use characters, likenesses or assets from their other games.

This whole thread can be summed up in the following statement:

”I believed a rumor on the internet was true and it wasn’t true. Someone other than me should be held accountable.”

it was a wiki. The devs are not in the business of check dbd fan sites for accurate information. Didnt anyone tell you not to believe everything on the internet?

This pretty much sums things up nicely. I woke up today hoping that the update was today because I've heard the rumors as well, but am I upset that it isn't out today? No. I knew it was a rumor and nothing official was announced. Everyone just take a chill pill. It'll come out soon enough.

Exactly. We don't need BHVR telling us when it's NOT coming out. We barely even need them telling us when it IS coming out. I would be perfectly happy if it just dropped yesterday unannounced.

but that isnt even apart of the game itself most big and great games support colorblindness in the setting with a simple change and what about console players? they can download this so called app so are they supose to buy a pc just to play this game after downloading something seperate from the base game itself?

I agree with you that the game does need to have internal colorblind filters. I am simply saying that this is a solution for pc players and that the devs actually had to make DbD compatible with NVidia Geforce Experience's filter mode. Many games are incompatible with this, including big games. "Most" big games supporting this is an exaggeration. Most SHOULD support colorblind modes, but a lot don't. Just keep asking about it on Youtube Q&A's and they will eventually add it.
  • Unless they are native I guess. But then maybe say "Native American" (in this case, American referring to the continent, not country)

Actually their wiki stated before the last stream that it was going to release today.. then Mcote stated on stream no confirmation and the date of release was switched but still speculated to be 9/11.............. so eat it

The wiki is a fansite, not an official Behaviour Studios site. No employees of Behaviour Studios are administrators there and they have no authority on this wiki to remove posts.

The wiki does not have any insider information. Never has, never will.
  • If you lost all your bloodpoints and items, it is likely because you got disconnected from the killer on YOUR end, not that the killer rage quit. However, seeing as how you kept your key, I'd say it's a bug.
  • That is a bug. You are supposed to keep your items and addons and recieve your bloodpoints and the killer is supposed to get 0 bloodpoints (and lose their offerings and addons.) The killer gets no bonus from a rage quit.

Oh, right. September eleventh. Who could forget the infamous day when 2000 people lost their lives after a bullet train derailed in Kagoshima? Or were you referencing that nut-job in Kagawa who murdered his wife and daughter?

Right. I can see the problem now... how insensitive of Behavior Interactive.

Dude, you are on the internet. You shoupd understand how irrational and insane people can be over small issues... such as the reaction people here have to the devs not going out of their way to dispel what was very clearly a rumor.

There was an easy way to avoid upsetting anyone: just let players know what is going on and when to expect the content; they have that ability no matter what on PC, even if there was uncertainty for the console release date. They knew the prevailing supposition was that it would be the 11th and they let the rumor persist when even a single tweet would've diffused it.

Anyway, what bothers me is the silence goes beyond feigning secrecy or surprise because there is nothing in the patch that isn't known so playing that game with the community comes off a bit sour. It seems to me there is an ulterior motive hidden somewhere in their silence and I suspect it is that they are delaying the PC release until the garbage console back-end is sorted. Irksome at best if publicly stated but insulting when contrived.

How do you know that they aren't? And how do you know what their motives are? Do you work there? Do you sit in on their meetings? Calm down. The day is not over yet and there is still a possibility that you will see it today. However, even if you don't see it today, the devs never gave any indication that you would, nor did they deny the possibility.

It COULD probably release today. And that is most likely why they didn't outright deny it. However, don't you think it might be slightly bad PR for them to release this dlc on 9/11 anyway? You know there will be a good chunk of people who will ######### about it if they did release it today. This is just a lose/lose scenario and it is ridiculous to expect the devs to acknowledge a rumor that they never fed into.
  • Guys, we should reverse review bomb DbD. Just drop millions of good reviews that all say "pretty good job"
  • Honestly, I think its because of the framerate, the lack of post-game chat, and the casual nature of console players. I play on both pc and ps4 and I notice survivors make a LOT of noob mistakes and rarely play well. Then they mess up on skill checks way more often and practically run right into me all the time. Then they attempt escape from hooks immediately at least once or twice every couple matches I am in. On pc, there is a post-game chat where players can say "Don't do that" and I think that is where a lot of the learned skills come from in pc
  • Remember, they are a Canadian company. It is still only about 5:30 pm there right now. Of course, it probably won't be today, but I'm sure they are working hard to get it done ASAP and want to leave the possibility open.
  • One thing I said on another thread that I feel needs to be said here is: "Soon" could potentially include today. And perhaps the reason Queen says "Soon" is because that is what management wants the answer to be until they know for sure whether or not they will be able to get it finished and pushed out the door by tonight.
  • Yeah no. Konami would not allow that.
  • Why should they need to correct the misinformation? Let us speculate. It gets people talking. Even if the community is wrong, at least the devs didn't bind themselves to a specific day. From a development perspective, having a definite release date is almost always bad news. It will be released when it's done. If that turns out to be today, cool. If not, oh well. And I bet that BHVR is probably internally seeing if they can push it out today because everyone is throwing a hissy fit, but if it just isn't polished enough for that, oh well.

I would bet money that the reason they dont say "not today" is because they are TRYING to get it out today just so that people will be happy.
  • I like "Soon." It means that it COULD be today, but leaves wiggle room to not have i today too
  • @Elegant said:
Yea it's really annoying. I don't know why they are so against telling the community about release dates/times. Every other game does it without much problem. Teasing can be fun/cool/interesting when they do it with killer reveals and things like that. But can you name a single other game that teases the release date of already known/tested content?

It's less that anyone is super "against" telling the community things, if BE is anything like the companies I've worked for. (Hi, former CM/Producer for various online games, but also a huge DBD fan.) It's more that dates can internally shift thanks to work taking longer or shorter, and missing a mark that's made public to the community results in huge backlashes, even if it's for a good reason.

The long and short of it is that more people end up getting angry if something is stated to come out on a specific day and then, for whatever reason, fails to make an appearance on that day. It shakes people's confidence, causes a huge stir, and generally leads to more headaches.

Keeping release dates quiet means that the team can internally shift things as needed without causing ire. It also gives them the flexibility to add things that previously weren't in scope without threatening a release, if they want to cram in some extra community feedback changes. That or, as DCM pointed out above me, because cert for console releases absolutely 1750% sucks.

Also, I should note, no one should ever blame the CM for setting or announcing any dates. While the CM is the name on the post, dates are more frequently set by production, marketing, and executive levels. A CM's job is more centered on collecting community feedback, championing community positions in meetings, and explaining company decisions to the community at large. And moderation. Lots of moderation.

The release will come. :) I'm quite excited too.

Thank you. This is the perspective I was trying (and failing) to convey.

The whole situation with this dlc is unprofessional at best and disrespectful to your community at worst. I get "hyping up" a game or dlc, but letting a false release date sit for 2 weeks and then beating around the bush with an actual announcement is just bad PR.

There was no false release date. There was speculation and nothing more.

There was a date posted on the dbd wiki for 2 weeks. This date was based upon the schedule for clown. A company letting that sit there for 2 weeks and not giving us at least a release date today is "unprofessional at best and disrespectful to your community at worst".

The wiki is not run by the devs, and it was made very clear that it was speculative.

And I was very clear, leaving up a false date on the wiki without a plan to give a date was (say it with me) "unprofessional at best and disrespectful to your community at worst". Bonus points for having their community manager flaunting around the forums saying "soon" to all the hype posts. Maybe she isn't supposed to give us information, but then why is she increasing expectations?

Imagine if they had just said a week ago (or shoot, even 5-6 hours ago) that they have no release date yet, they would've avoided this mess.

None of the devs left a false date on the wiki because they have no control over it. You have based your argument on a faulty premise.

You run a game company and have an upcoming dlc that you know many people are excited for. You see a false release date based on your previous releases pop up on the wiki for your game and decide to NOT correct that date in any way. All the negative emotions that stem from that are directly on the devs, they allowed people to be misled when a small "release date TBA" would've stopped this entire situation. Just because they didn't put the date there doesn't mean their negligence in correcting the date was an "okay" way to handle the ordeal.

They allowed nothing. You assumed a fansite's information was an official statement from the developers - despite the fact that the fansite made it very clear the information was speculative - and are now looking for someone to blame other than yourself. You and only you are to blame for your false assumption.

Careful with the fallacies there, I assumed nothing. I knew the date was speculative, but that doesn't change the fact that it was based on release patterns and left up without any plan to correct the information. To be honest I don't even know why they are letting this happen, it is killing their hype and is going to easily lose them sales.

So you knew it was speculative and still claim the devs are at fault for your acceptance of speculation? I'm going to ignore you now lest I say something that gets me banned.

Apparently the roadmap is pure speculation...

Most are upset because for some odd reason BHVR just cannot fathom it appropriate to communicate with their community about releases.

    It's mind boggling.

Where does the roadmap list specific dates again?

You are apparently slow, since you still are adding in a straw man. I will now use capitalization to make my points clearer. I DID NOT accept any speculation, BUT I understand that a company that DOES NOT address a release date that is based on past releases IS being irresponsible to their community. This DOES NOT affect me, I WAS NOT buying the DLC today. I DO NOT care when it is released. I DO care that they were unprofessional, because I DO LITERALLY support them with money and I DO NOT want to support a company that disrespects their consumers.

It was unprofessional in your opinion. I disagree. I think it would have been unprofessional for the devs to get involved in a rumor one way or another.

They have no power to take it down and if they confirmed or denied the speculation, that would be more unprofessional than simply not engaging. We should be smart enough to know the difference between official statements and rumors. Your anger at this is disproportionate to the actual situation. The same thing gets said every time. Most developers announce their DLC then drum up hype by releasing details until we knew everything about it. When they say "soon" it usually means that they'll be giving a release date soon, not dropping the DLC out of nowhere.

Before these last couple DLCs we wouldn't even know exactly which killer we were getting before they dropped the DLC (with no release date warning), just some perk descriptions. Thankfully they're using PTBs now. I guess this way is working for them, so they probably won't change it any time soon.

Still, a release date prior to release is prettttty common practice, and it would be nice...

Personally, I really love having the release being within as short of a time as possible as the reveal. I hate having an announcement hype me up and then waiting for weeks or months. By the time it comes out, it almost never was worth the wait with other games. DbD has virtually no wait between reveal and release. Sometimes reveal and release has even been simultanious. I love that.
