Not trying to be the boring guy, but there's not that much to be thankful for, especially when we were promised this performance on current gen.
They never said current gen. They simply said they were working on console optimisation. It was always ambiguous.

You would think the license would transfer over to next gen consoles because the platform hasn't changed.
Not necessarily. The license agreement could have only stated very specific platforms. Seeing as PS5 and Series S/X didn’t exist at the time, The Wes Craven Estate is in a position to greedily negotiate more money before they’re willing to give permission again.
-
@Maperson said:
Probably just a bug, they would have to give money back to people who bought him if he was cut.
No they wouldn’t. If you were to go read any of the DLC T&C’s it says the licenses are limited.
-
@ShadowRain said:
I saw someone on twitter say its a bug
That’s highly unlikely. It’s already been known for many months that there is something to do with the Wes Craven Estate/trustee being a little bit pissy with the rights/licenses to all of his IP.
-
@ShadowRain said:
Wait.. they didn’t say anywhere that you get less content switching to PS5. No Freddy? Hype levels gone waaaay down
I’m sure it’s a licensing issue. There’s no other reason for BHVR to remove The Nightmare on Elm Street chapter with how popular Freddy is now, and how sales of that DLC was boosted.
Oddly enough though many of my matches were still in Badham, and map offerings for Badham were still in my inventory, and I still have all of Freddy’s and Quentin’s perks.

Console players on the forums that I am sure would be interested in this:
Sony make it way too hard to go through their approval processes for all the requests BHVR would need to send through for review ON TOP OF their requests that need to be reviewed for the live version of DBD as well.

That’s amazing! I’m so glad that PS5 seems to be our savior.
I do have a couple of questions regarding PS5 DBD:
- Are you using the digital or physical? This is important because physical PS4 copies aren’t eligible for an upgrade and I’d like to know if I can expect to have the same performance as you are (or at least similar to yours).
- Do you really have to earn all your trophies again? I really don’t want to have to go through the hell that was Adept Nurse and Plague. Nurse was hard enough with the old Adept requirements.
- i had a digital copy of DBD PS4. So i was able to upgrade to the digital PS5 version. Worse case scenario for you is that base game is still relatively cheap, and your account will remember/link any other additional PS4 content you purchased for DBD. Mine linked all previously purchased DLC and cosmetics, AND progress.
- Yeah... despite it linking everything purchased for the PS4 version, the console still recognises DBD PS5 as an entirely separate game. So yep. All trophies were a clean slate. Funny though how upon loading into the game the first time I instantly earned the P1, P2, P3, and P3 50 trophies.

You will still be able to match up against Freddy with cross-play enabled.
But if the character model isn’t rendered in the PS5 version, how can I verse Freddy?

You're welcome. From what I've seen the game runs well on both the Xbox Series S and X.
I’ve seen the post from some poor unfortunate Xbox Series S/X users that their DBD keeps crashing.
Had me worried. I’m very glad that isn’t happening on PS5. Hope they Xbox Series S/X version gets fixed soon.
With how gorgeous this runs on PS5, I’m extra excited for the new chapter. Might have renewed my interest in Blight too.
Shame that Freddy is removed. I’m gonna guess if I play survivor, MM will prevent me from being matched with Freddy players? Coz how would the model be rendered?

Oh god thank you. Would not have started the grind again!!!
Still pissed about the no freddy thing....
Lol, it might be why his kit has been so overloaded, and why they went to the effort they did to make him more popular: “limited time only”
-
All progress except trophies. I even still have Freddy’s perks. But he’s gone.
License problems maybe?

@SnakeSound222 said:
So how’d it go? Is it worth buying the game again to take advantage of the PS5 upgrades or should I just stick with the PS4 version?
I’m still setting up and waiting for the PS5 version to download (had humongous issues transferring all my PS4 save data because there’s a problem with my PS4’s rest mode).

Three weeks isn't much time to address the plethora of issues Twins has. I agree that it's creative, but it's also kinda undercooked.
Plethora?
its 2 things that need looking at (other than bugs)

new killer is an m1 killer, since survivor just needs to press space on a locker to stop her in her tracks
They may yet still address this.

Surge explosions wouldn't trigger Oppression. Oppression needs the kicking action, same like on Pop and Overcharge
EDIT: just checked that the perk said "damage" not "kick". Is it confirmed that this works?
it probably wouldn’t matter anyway. The combo would still save tonnes of time. Surge procs, doesn’t find a survivor to chase before coming across a gen to kick. 2 actions, up to all 7 gens affected in some fashion.
-
@Deadeye said:

Just as note if that was your thought: Overcharge will not be applied to the randomly regressed gens. Overcharge is bound to the kicking action, not the regression state or damage. Same like Pop
Yeah I realise that. I’m just thinking of the wealth of difficult skillchecks it means survivors will be dealing with in T1 and T2 madness.
-
There’s a lot of MK characters that would suit this game as killer
-
I can see how being upset in post game chat is dumb.
But the upside of players going hardcore in PTB is that it will help highlight any balance issues with the new content.
We wouldn’t know about the hostage taking and locker problems with the new killer if everybody were just doing farm games.

That's red rank gameplay for solos. It doesn't matter if a gen pops as long as you get a pip for repairing progress.
Huh?

I'm not saying Oppression is a bad perk - it isn't. It just isn't worth it in the current state of regression. It's definitely going to save a lot of time, but only in the kicking of other gens. I'd rather just run Ruin/Undying, as unless I get really unlucky at the immediate start of the match, it's guaranteed better regression.
This post isn't about Oppression being bad, it's about base regression being bad - because it is.
I think that’s where the trade off consideration lays. My feelings are is it’s meant to be a weaker version of Ruin with the upside that the survivors cannot eliminate the perk from the match.
Much like a serial slugger could choose between The Third Seal or Knockout. Knockout isn’t as strong as TTS for this strategy, but it also can’t be cleansed either.
It’s also worth noting that sometimes the chaos simply leads/keeps survivors away from particular areas of the map. Even with base regression, if survivors for any reason don’t return for some time, it can still hurt their progress.

Pallet saves currently aren't impaced by Enduring though, and I fail to see why it's any different if it's you dropping the pallet to save yourself, not someone dropping the pallet to save you.
That is very interesting though...
On paper, a pallet save SHOULD proc Enduring.

@NomiNomad said:
In my opinion, Oppression is probably the Twins' best perk. Coup De Grace looks like a lot of fun, and Hoarder seems to be a meme perk and not much more, but they're not amazing. I feel like Oppression is going to have a lot of potential late game when a few survivors are dead, and in general I think it has some great synergy with some existing perks (even if I do feel the cooldown is a bit much), but base regression holds it back. Base regression is just not good. I really think it needs to be increased at least slightly.
Again, this is just my opinion. What're your thoughts?
Seconds absolutely count in this game as killer.
If for any reason survivors aren’t on the other 3 gens that start to regress after kicking another, any regression is better than NO regression.
Like Surge, this is going to save tonnes of time, especially if getting into another chase shortly after kicking a gen.
It’s like a mild t1 Ruin that the survivors can’t cleanse.

Remember old times when people used to get killed in real life for cheating on someone? Yeah and now people complain about kicking a killer in a video game. You're saying that you can't kick but you can hang somebody up on a meathook? WHY IS THIS WORLD SO SENSITIVE?!?!?!?
In fairness, if Victor WERE a baby, it WOULD be in poor taste and would have crossed a few lines.
But we know that Victor is NOT a baby, and those that are being offended are too lazy to read anything new added to this game.
Heck, there are still players that think Leader still affects gen speeds, or don’t even know that fast actions give the killer noise notifications. “hOw dOeS tHe KiLlEr KeEp FiNdInG mE?!”

That is the point of the PTB, but not after a few hours. That is not really enough time to properly evaluate how strong something is, especially killer strength.
Pyramid Head and Blight are both way stronger than people thought they were at first. People thought Deathslinger was fun to play against, then people learned how to zone, and now I and many others despise playing against him. People thought that Oni was stupid OP but now he doesn't get much play because he's very punishing if you misuse your power. I'm sure PTB impressions of The Twins will be far off too, even for people who wait longer than a few hours to comment. Same goes for perks, btw - remember when Any Means Necessary and For the People were going to break the game?
Or the now infamous “sPiRiT iS wEaK!!!” claims during her PTB.

When did that change happen? I used that perk a lot on live release and any gen getting worked on stayed yellow for the full duration, even when no survivors were on it at all
That’s a bug.
Gearhead has always operated (meant to anyway) only highlight yellow upon a successful good skill check, and only until the Gearhead timer expires or if the survivor(s) stop repairing those gens. It’s why I’m starting to prefer it over surveillance or discordance
-
@MadLordJack said:
And yet, even if that skillcheck counts, the tracking from Gearhead is still absolutely awful to the point where an entire meme build will fall apart just because it doesn't tell you when the survivors stop their repairs.
My hopes were slightly raised til I remembered that. Also, I don't think it would work because I'm fairly certain that "Difficult" skillchecks are considered "Great" skillchecks.
Personally, I'd rather run it with just Surveillance.
Yes it does. The gen only remains highlighted yellow until a survivor stops the repair action, or if the Gearhead timer expires.
-
It’s clearly an unintended bug. Especially if it never loses stacks.

Yea, we'll have to see if the cooldown is the right length but seems pretty neat and definitely a unqiue gen regression perk.
Still waiting for the day surge looses it's cooldown or works on all attacks...
I think the cool down is pretty fair. It’s ALWAYS effecting 4 generators, until it’s down to the last 3. So every time it’s proc’d it’s either causing 4 (or all if it’s the last 4 or 3) to regress OR challenge survivors with a difficult skillcheck, that they’re not going to be prepared for unless they’re running Alert or OoO. It’s like a very mild Ruin/Overcharge hybrid that the survivors can’t cleanse.
It would be a broken perk in a 3 or 4 gen set up with too short a cool down for both the time it saves, OR the wealth of information it gives.
-
@Withered8 said:
Hm yea definitely, I can see potential synergy with this perk and alot of other perks like surveillance as well. Honestly seems like a decent perk, and a more fun to use and interesting ruin.
Oppression seems like a much better Surge with the caveat of a few trade offs. That’s not to say Oppression + Surge would be a bad pairing. I think that could be fun.
But whereas Surge may not always proc, Oppression will always have an effect once it’s available.

Yep. And object shows exactly when she controls her brother and where she is.
Weird.
So her TR disappears, but it DOESN’T make her undetectable, and both Charlotte and Victor’s auras can be revealed by OoO?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Charlotte does not have a Terror Radius or anything when Victor is controlled.
Oh ok, I didn’t realise that.
So Charlottes TR disappears when Victor is controlled, and Victor also doesn’t have a TR?
-
@Yamaoka said:
Are you sure Charlotte has collision? If so, what exactly stops a potential troll from blocking 1 exit gate as Charlotte and 1 exit gate as Victor?
Victor can’t see switch auras, and can simply be crushed by a survivor if they try to body block.

Even though the Jockey comparisons are already everywhere I still think it should affect your movement in some way. Right now if you're half decent in a chase you can literally just keep Victor on you the entire match and the killer has no power. And it won't affect your chasing abilities in any way at all outside of red stain mindgames.
"oh no I cant do gens.... but if I just keep this little dude on the killer won't even know where I am and is just trapless Trapper"
I do hope the devs are hearing this loud and clear, and are thinking how to address this.
-
@Seanzu said:
Yea, they're pretty awesome at shack.
I still think that Victor able to be kidnapped, and that survivor is still free to loop as normal because they can still use vaults and pallets is an oversight, but I can see that there is potential for some crafty stuck that can be done with The Twins.

I just got out of a match where a Legion decimated us on shelter woods. They were using Sloppy and this rank 3 Zarina kept using self care every time she was injured.

That’s also exaggerated by how slow his bottles make survivors (if they’re used properly)

Clown kinda has to regularly slug. He cannot afford the time it takes to carry to the hook every survivor he downs. I almost always slug the first survivor and try and find someone else ASAP.
Clown needs to.

She needs a way to recall Victor, survivors shouldn't have control over whether a killer gets their power back or not.
But to be fair, even though she is only an M1 killer with that strategy, the match does turn in to a 3 vs 1, so it's not that bad for the twins either.
This is what I was thinking.
Survivors thinking that turning the match into 3 v 1 to effectively turn them into M1 before any gens are done sounds like suicide.

Reinstalled the software for the game after uninstalling thinking it was a bad install. That did no good as well. Hope devs know about this issue and are working on a quick fix. Big disappointment on release date. 😒
There’s a few posts now from other forum members with new Xbox experiencing your exact same problem.
It worries me because I get PS5 tomorrow.

Plague is always bugged. Has been since her release
-
They need to implement something where Victor actively pulls and tugs survivors backwards whilst they’re inside the exit gates
-
I’d say it’s unlikely. But that doesn’t mean they couldn’t still complement each other.
Get off a surge, and then find a gen that wasn’t affected by surge to kick. Sounds like it could be a real nuisance to the survivors.
