If the numbers are dropping across the board, I think it would be a combination of things.

The new player experience is really bad and the game probably struggles to retain new players. There's a significant financial investment just to unlock the privilege of grinding the perks. And the grind is obscene. On top of that, SBMM was supposed to provide better matchmaking for newer players, and it's definitely not doing that.

There's no way for a returning player to catch up. If I took any substantial amount of time off from the game, I don't think I would ever come back. There would be too much to grind. Taking a year off puts someone 4 DLCs worth of grind behind. That's 4 characters on each side to unlock teachables on, and then those teachables need to be learned on any other characters. You don't get any BP bonus for coming back after time off. That's a weird one.

Third point is related to the first two, and I know I keep harping on it, but the grind is terrible. The bloodweb itself is an absolute slog. Getting 2 million BP for rank rewards is almost a punishment because then I have to sit there for 10+ minutes mindlessly clicking on a bloodweb. Not only that, but we're forced to spend BP on stuff we don't want and we'll never use in our games. What game does that? It's asinine. This whole progression system needed to be scrapped years ago.

The current meta is really bad. People say they don't want DbD to be competitive, but most of the things people complain about are the blatantly non-competitive RNG and casual elements. People (rightfully) want a solution to facecamping, stacked slowdowns, lack of engagement meta for survivors, etc. It's not clear what this game's balance target audience is. You have a mix of fun perks for a casual environment and more competitive perks for a serious environment, but every player gets thrown into the same queue and often nobody is happy about it.

Last point: I get the overall feeling that the game doesn't really respect my time as a player. The grind is one thing, but there are many other things that make me feel this way. There are a lot of maps that render certain killers near useless i.e. Blight and Lerys/RPD. I get teammates with 1/10th of my hours in solo queue who proceed to throw the game within minutes. A killer like Bubba can down me and simply stand in front of me on the hook. I have a full-time job and a limited amount of time to play games. While I love this game and want it to succeed, I've found myself asking if this is really a worthwhile way to spend an hour or two of my evening. Why even load up the game for a round or two of Blight if I'm going to get an indoor map or get teammates who bought the game yesterday?

    This is a fair post.

I totally agree about the grind. It's one of the few things that makes this game a tough sell to my friends - not just the upfront money investment to unlock the 'must have' perks, but the insane grind. Hell, I'm almost 600 hours deep - at least 500 of those on the killer role - and I still haven't unlocked everything I want on every killer I want.

The meta...I hear you. On one side - facecamping is a problem, and one BHVR need to fix with haste. I've been trying to get better at survivor, and once you get out of what I'm guessing is the lower MMRs, you'll go from a camping Bubba to a camping Myers to a camping Bubba to a camping Huntress to a camping Wraith. It's not every game, but it's so frequent and so little fun to play against, even if you win. But I understand that 'fixing' camping in a way that doesn't completely break the game is quite difficult.

On the other side, you've got CoH (a truly terrible idea), the 'fixed' Dead Hard which may be one of the most frustrating things to play against in the game and wonky map balance.

    @Rivyn said:

MMR, balancing, terrible servers, hackers. All of which the devs take their sweet time doing anything about. God forbid you call them out on it, or else they'll pull their normal 'we've done a pretty good job so far' and 'soon' act.

So, the number one reason in my book? The devs.

    It's...tough.

I don't think anyone, least of all the devs, expected the game to explode in popularity to the extent that it's almost a cultural touchstone in certain parts of the internet. It feels like it was made on spaghetti code and held together with tape - and short of a complete teardown job, all the devs can really do is add more tape.

I will say that the game now is substantially less buggy than it was a year ago.

Hackers...yeah. But that's another 'what can you really do?' issue. Even top shelf Esport games have cheaters. Making cheat/hack programs/techniques is so profitable and so sophisticated that, if you're willing to pay $100 bucks a month, you can probably afford a fairly robust hacking suite for any game you want that isn't almost entirely server side.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    MMR

    Oh and recently the hackers.

    Hackers, I understand.

    I don't think it's MMR.

MMR is something that feels like a forum/streamer thing - as it definitely means that veteran players are going to have a somewhat ossified meta and be playing against opponents less varied than they are used to, which places pressure on them to play sweaty. But...that's high MMR in every game, and under ranks - while the vets and the pros had a blast, it also meant that newer or more intermediate players got destroyed.

Right now, Matchmaking Failed errors aside, I'm finding that the general quality of my matches has improved substantially. Before SBMM, I'd say maybe 1/3 of my games felt decently matched. Now it's...maybe 3/5? Not perfect, but certainly better.

I don’t understand why this game has such toxic people on both sides

    It's...complicated.

Partially, it's the game. DbD is very snowbally - meaning that 'close' games are rare. It either feels like you just stomped someone hollow, or got absolutely spanked. People with fragile egos...tend to have the worst brought out of them by stuff like this, and the whiplash of feeling like a god to feeling like hot garbage is unpleasant.

That said, partially it's because the developers have gone on record as saying that they consider 'smack talk' to be an essential component of online gaming - which certain people take as having carte blanche to act the fool.

  • @DyingWish92 said:

Man for the most part I've learned how to deal with this when playing killer but I swear some small portion of survivors are insane at doing this.

Like sometimes getting a basic attack on them feels like you're trying to get a hole in one in a round of golf, christ. The wiggle from side to side and spinning, feel like they have their camera sensitivity to 200%.

Nothing is worse then starting tier 3 rigjt behing someone with Myers and proceeding to waste 20 seconds of your tier 3 whiffing at these guys. Feels bad man.

Yup. I had a Claudette earlier that spun me every time I tried to bap her one, dashing around like a supercharged random particle. Absolutely incredible.

What I've found is to just standard attack while turning to match their motion - that tends to get me a hit.

There where playing Sadako and even bought the new skin and everything. they had only 2 level 1 perks

    I feel f'ing awful

they where probs so excited for this chapter that they bought the new skin right away.

just to get beat by people with 2000 more hours then them.

    I'm sick of this crap

    Yup.

MMR seems really hinky right now, especially at primetime. I'll go from getting a team of 4000 hour monsters to a group of 100 hour intermediates with little rhyme or reason - and outside of primetime I'm lucky to get a game with the 'Matchmaking Failed' issue.

What I will say is that, while I do run into the occasional really nasty killer, survivors really do seem to like picking on people when they know they totally outclass them.

  • @Ryan489x said:

This is the last chapter Ill ever get. It's not even the game anymore. it's the players for me. you get the same player style over and over if you're playing survivor or killer. MMR dose nothing to help anything.

You get the killers that only care about the 4 K and to hell with everyone else. Or you get a survivor team and I do emphasize team. who just want to treat a killer like a joke no matter what and they play like they're all going to die for real if they loose. the poor games far outweigh the good ones at this point no matter when or what side you play.

    I feel you.

I guess I've started sort of finding my own fun in the game. I rotate from killer to killer, try to learn survivor, play weirdo addons and perks and just try to enjoy myself.

I do completely agree that the worst thing about DbD is the playerbase. I've heard 'this community deserves a better game' before, but DbD is the first time in a long time where I've gone 'this game deserves a better community'.

  • @Sepex said:

It's just the hot topic of the week. It's not an issue.

I sort of disagree. This is one of two games in the last...maybe 4 years that have given me any trouble. The other was an indie thing called 'Mothergunship', which was almost obnoxiously flashy.

For DbD, it's a combination of what's usually referred to as 'noxious stimuli' (the intense, constant clicking) combined with the incredibly rapid strobing effect. It's not the worst on The Game, but darker maps (all the Autohaven maps are rough) can make me feel queasy and sometimes even provoke a terrible migraine.

This feels like a design oversight.

  • I will say that my 'trick' to staying engaged is to set little challenges for myself that encourage me to play differently.

That, and permanently disabling postgame chat.

What is concerning though is that the playerbase seems to be shrinking at an alarming rate.

Wanted to make a thread talking about the issue of burnout and wanted to see if I could get some insight into various things like what causes people to be burned out from DBD, what they do about it, if they bother to keep trying or just stop playing all together.

For those interested in the thread:

On a scale of 1-9 with 1 being not at all and 9 being burned out to the point of not playing anymore, how burned out are you with DBD.

Feel free to be as brief or long-winded as you like with any explanation you want to give. This doesn't have to strictly be any particular thing either it could be which ever side you prefer to play, a character you main etc.

For those wondering why I'm making this thread, after today's session with the game I'm feeling pretty disappointed with it. Not because the new content is particularly bad or anything, the Ringu chapter is pretty well made and I can't really find fault with it.

My issue at the moment is it feels like all my attempts to try and be the change I want to see with this game always falls flat. Mainly on the survivor side, I'm not burned out with Killer necessarily i just don't feel like playing it. This isn't gonna be a rant about matchmaking or anything of the sort, I'm just not enjoying my matches and I feel powerless to do anything about it, leading to my frustration and burnout with the game.

I know a bunch of people have been making a big thing of the whole steam chart situation, I don't know how to feel about it myself since it's not the whole picture - consoles aren't included and neither are the other PC platforms.

TL;DR - How burned out are you with DBD on a scale of 1-9 and why?

    Out of nine?

Four, maybe - and that's 50% due to the server issues I've had recently. Three if not.

I still have a lot of fun playing this game - despite the fact that it makes me extremely frustrated at times and seems filled with some of the most unpleasant people I've encountered online.

Balance is still iffy, but aside from DH and CoH, it's better than it has been in ages.

  • @burt0r said:

Dead by Daylight is the only game that ever made me have to set my account to private in 18 years.

    Ditto.

I've played all sorts of rough-and-tumble games - LoL, DOTA, DOTA2, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Friday The 13th etc.

DbD is the only game where I've had multiple people follow me out of the game to hassle me and the game that made me private my profile.

It's a mechanic that's being weaponized to HARM PEOPLE, and fixing it in no way nerfs flashlights or makes saves harder to do.

Yup. I have mild photosensitivity issues, and strobe macros in a dark map can send me to bed with a headache. I've even had survivors tell me that they hope they can give someone a seizure in postgame.

I'm astonished that BHVR haven't done anything about this.

  • I was pretty excited, but right now whatever is causing the Matchmaking Failed issues is making this game very difficult to enjoy.

    Spirit is more fun.

Both have their place. I'm still not convinced that Sadako is in a good state (reduce the cooldown of her traversal and she'll be nearly perfect) but she's more along the lines of Wraith - get an easy first hit, spread damage, hit and run from funny angles and hope they don't have COH.

Spirit is more of a 'committal' type. You go in, get a hit, then go ghosty and try to chase/mindgame.

So if I leave my house unlocked and with the door wide open, can I really be upset when I come home to being robbed? That's literally what this is the equivalent to. If I leave a 100$ bill on the ground in a public area, how upset can I be when I come back and it's missing?

It's just common sense. And yes, I will shame people for lacking it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2840483#Comment_2840483

Ok well i'm sorry your friends are dumb enough to accept friend invites from random strangers on the internet. Or even more dumb for staying there and listening instead of just blocking them? Idk what to tell you.

    See: here's the thing.

If I leave my house unlocked, that is a silly thing to do.

However, it doesn't mean that I deserve to be robbed, or that the robbers are somehow not at fault.

The real fault always rests with the person doing something deliberately malicious, not the person who is perhaps a bit too trusting.

  • @Johann84 said:

The game is still survivor sided even in 2022. Survivors ignoring these are ignorant

    It's...complicated.

Starting out - the game feels quite killer sided.

Once you get a feel for the game, it feels extremely survivor sided.

Once you start getting pretty good, it comes down to more 'who brought what and which map'.

DbD is very difficult to balance, because players essentially determine their power levels. If I play versus a SWF running stacked meta perks, the best items, a Badham offering and 3x 'further hook' offerings, and I run meme Myers or Wraith, I'm going to get stomped. If I play against the same SWF running meme perks on Midwich and I'm playing Blight with my best perks and addons, I'm going to flatten them.

  • @Erd69 said:

Why do you do it? Why do you add skins for licensed characters that aren't even in the movie? Look at what you did to ghostface, he has literal ice outfit and am I expected to get excited when I see him? It's dumb. Nemesis with his blighted outfit, why? You ruined his look from RE3. He should've gotten a skin from the older games but not a blighted one. I just really hope Michael Myers doesn't get a blighted skin because I thought dbd was a game where we have these horror icons but you're changing their appearance? Oh I'm going against sadako? Hell yeah, oh wait, what is that new skin she has? THAT'S NOT EVEN SADAKO. All I hope is for people to not buy these outfits because they completely change the characters look and makes a licensed character less worthy. I mean, would you have bought nemesis if his blighted skin was his default?

...I honestly have no idea why this bothers you so much.

The 'lore accurate' characters are a jumping off point. From there, obviously dependent on copyright and agreements made, the developers get to have a bit of fun playing around with the character. Think of it more like an 'Earth 2' scenario. A graphical fanfic, essentially.

  • @Veinslay said:

Night of a new chapter release and my killer queues are instant. I remember them taking forever when Nemesis came out

Something is very hinky with matchmaking right now.

I've been having extremely long killer queues outside of primetime, often hitting a 'matchmaking failed' error.

Primetime - instant queues, but match quality is so all-over-the-place that it feels like the days of Ranks again.

Someone on the forums once said a strategy that could help is to not go for yellow perks unless.. A. You have to, or B. It's a perk you really like. And this is because once you unlock the tier 1 version of a perk you're much more likely to get tiers 2 and 3 in the next few blood webs, making it so the perk you actually want has much less of a chance to appear

Yeah I've been trying to do that to some extent - I've gotten every perk I might want to try on her, and zero perks that I want to try on her.

    @Leonardo1ita said:

So, does anyone have a mindgame to share?

Thus far, I'm finding it a bit unreliable - smart survivors can anticipate your movements and if they sense you are trying some mindgame shenanigans, they just leave the loop.

I did have a game on Pantry where I pretended to go up the ramp but actually circled around the back of the jetty. I'm also going to try out DMS on her once it unlocks - I may be able to spook people into leaving gens.

I have a feeling that she'll need a bit of a buff - thus far she's not horrible, but probably the most 'meh' killer release since...Trickster?

Im enjoyiny her astetically a lot but i just get predropping holding forward with dead hard when i try to mind game them, and at least 1 COH. I think its personally a result of my mmr being to high on other killers. (Because you have a overall killer mmr). She struggles pretty much with what everyone m1 killer suffers with. Personally i just wish my mmr wasn't a borefest. I hope everyone else is having more fun with her though. I also agree with the sentiment she would probably be far better if COH wasn't a thing currently. Any tips would be also appreciated though as well I'll keep playin her to try to get better though.

    She's...odd.

At first glance, she feels on the weak side of things. Her traversal tool has a ridiculous cooldown, Condemn is...iffy and her stealth is mediocre at best.

However, I'm reserving judgement for now until the good players get to grips with her. People declared Artist to be the most OP thing ever - and she was decent at best. People declared Cenobite to be absolute rubbish, and he still got nerfed due to him being a wood-chipper against newer players.

It was overall a pretty nice game, I got 6 hooks and I almost got a 2k, they managed to make it out with good teamplay. They played very well and are a great team I give it them that.

However after this chat they went on my profile and all added me and wrote in my comments. They wished me corona and my parents a painful death. They said I am a sub human and should be enslaved. They went into my friends profile and also harrased them, they found (somehow) my you tube channel and wrote under roughtly half of my videos in the comments that I am a loser and should go kill myself. They went to my discord server and spammed my channels and tried to write to other ppl on my mod staff how pathetic my content is and that they should be ashamed of themselves beeing friends with me.

I took it at first lightly as you see in the chat, I was just meming but I would say after they came that far to my you tube channel its reaching to a point that I would call this REAL hatred towards someone.

I have honestly no idea what I did to deserve this from their persective, I tried to write to them on steam after I accepted the add that they should calm themselves, after roughly a few hours they finally stopped, but I doubt it was because of me saying to stop, more like after they went tired of keep haressing me.

Whats the point of this post? I am just wondering if there is any way to report his outside of dbd. I have the feeling simple reports arent enough.

    Yup.

About a year ago, I ran into a streamer and his mates running a bit of a bully squad. Clicky clicky teabag teabag and a Badham offering. Fortunately I was on Hag and they were overconfident, leading to one situation where I hooked 3 of them at the same time - eventually winning.

The chap apparently sent a bunch of people (maybe 10 total?) over to post nasty things on my Steam page. He ended up getting a Twitch ban, I ended up making my Steam profile permanently private.

It's odd that a game with such a wholesome external community has such a genuinely unpleasant ingame community.

    • If you run into me.
    • If you annoy me.
    • If you try to do stuff in my face.
    • If it's 1gen left and you are the only person dead on hook.

    Then I'll just do it.

What is funny though are the people who all play the same character than complain about being tunneled. Like...I'm not going to give up chase because after I hit you I realized that you were someone I'd already hooked.

She would still have an extreme range ability for info, just not extreme damage. Also I would argue her short range aura tracking and zoning is also unique.

That damage is only available if you either call her bluff or don't respect it. It's really easy to see coming and dodge, even if she fires a barrage.

  • @dugman said:

I didn’t say “remove her ability to damage at range”, I said they could remove her ability to damage at “extreme range”. Being able to do damage from say 30 meters out or less is still possible there.

But her extreme range ability is sort of what makes her unique.

I've always loved the concept of old legion but while it was live, the complaints were totally valid lol it was super boring to face and was super easy to use. That being said, I always loved the idea of a killer that could move fast and strike very quickly, but it took more hits to down.

I'd love a killer more similar to old legion again, done in a way where chase could still be interactive (like no pallet vaulting) but still gave the feeling of being able to hack and slash very fast. A movement power where you run faster and do m1 attacks normally, but you can do a dash attack that is extremely fast similar to a demo shred but no charge up. This attack takes multiple hits to down though.

I'd probably have to do a write up on how I'd like this killer to actually operate, but I would love to see a fast and agile killer again.

What killer would you like to see?

I've always wanted a spider killer that poops little spiders to chase down survivors, and can set up webs to hide in/traverse the map with, Demo style.

Apparently it's a visual bug. Your ranks haven't reset, just the visuals. Once you finish another match it goes back to normal.

I have no problem with some killers getting more use out of some perks than others. (I love Distressing on Doctor, I would probably never use it on anybody else though.)

Also taking away the extreme range damage snipe of Artist would hardly make her “garbage”. Her main strengths are long range detections, auras during chases and zoning away from vaults. The ultra long range damage is just a gimmick really, ok if it happens but the ability is better used for info at that range than trying to snipe. And she was already a good killer even before the Dead Man’s Switch buff, you could remove that perk entirely and she’s still be a good killer.

As far as fun goes, that’s obviously just personal preference kind of outside the question of whether or not the combo needs tuning for balance purposes.

It would be a huge nerf, and she doesn't need any nerfs. Her numbers are fine.

Right now, if you bird someone at range and they just stay on the gen, you can punish them and they can attempt to juke your punish. That's good - strong play, strong counterplay.

If she couldn't damage at range, it removes this entire element from her game.

DMS is certainly strong - but again, people seem to think that blocking is the same as regression. What actually happens to me against smart teams is that I've got 6 hooks at 5 gens, then suddenly I've got 7 hooks at 1 gen because all the damned things are 99%'d.

Just me or facing even an okay Trickster is just no fun in chases? You cannot loop AT ALL indoor or open maps. Especially when he is right behind you, no counter at all unless you use deadhard to dodge a knife or two... His power is just unfun to go against. id rather have an insidious bubba and that's saying something... anyone agree?

He's an...annoying killer. If he's chasing you, it's tough and fairly decent chances are you are going down eventually.

However, he's also weak. It takes him so long to down you that several gens have popped in the meantime.

He honestly needs a top down rework. He's the Boil Over of killers - bad and still annoying to face.

I bring the pustula plant from tome 5 into all of my survivor matches just to confuse people.

This still confuses me, and I was there for the event!

Not so broken on artist. But DEF broken on doctor 😕🤣

Only on smaller maps - but yes, it shouldn't interact with interruptions. That's the one change I'd make.

I'm not on about when you pick up the box, I know you need to wait out the chains then solve it.

But i just had a pinhead match where i was getting hit by 6odd chains at a time (not the whole game) and none of these was even triggered by the killer?

Soooooo why did i get spammed by so many chains at once?

He's using an addon that creates more chains when a chain breaks on the environment, I guess.

When you pick up the box, immediately move somewhere safe. Then dodge as many chains as there are survivors alive -1 and then solve it.

There are a lot on the Japan server, probably 1/4 of games if you play every lobby you enter, you can notice them in the lobby usually if the killer keeps readying and unreadying. Most people, myself included, dodge them when they notice. My favorite I encountered was an AFK Blight that had a macro set up to spin around, lethal rush and attack. He ended up going across the whole map.

    Aha!

It's my server. I'm guessing NA and EU are different.

  • It must be my region or MMR, because sure as sugar my first two killers of the day were AFK in place, swinging occasionally. Almost certainly a bot.

Artist has great pressure on generators with DMS, she is almost unstoppable. She has pressure even in chase. She was rare before but not anymore. I don't know i faced with how many Artists with this PR + DMS combo at this week.

This feels like Pre-Nerf Freddy. Ruin + Pre-Nerf Undying + Tinkerer with slow-down add-ons. And put snares around loops and make survivor out and take hits.

Now Artist has same issue. Strong gen pressure and strong anti-loop. Before DMS's buff, only counter of her was Shift + W. So she was losing generators if she would run with you. But now even in chases she can force to block generators.

I can not see any counter. Please tell me how i will counter her while she is blocking generators with DMS and regression with PR.

    Eh.

It's strong, no doubt - but I'd hesitate to call it broken.

What you have to keep in mind about DMS is the 'dam effect'. DMS is great at stalling gens...until it isn't, because gens can't regress. So what's happening is that you are storing progression.

Eventually, the dam breaks, and gens start popping within seconds of each other.

    A few other tricks:

    • When she's about to hook, release the gen (you should be doing this anyway, as Artists like Pain Resonance). Wait for the birds. Then go back to the gen and you'll confuse her.
    • Artists will rarely fire a bird at the same gen twice.
    • If you get birded, work on the gen a bit more if she fired a volley of 3. Then let go and move to the next one. You can clearly see birds coming, so they are ultra easy to juke.

Except Undying, which killer perk nerfed last time? Survivors are complaining about NOED for years and NOED is still here. And please don't make this they vs us. I am killer main and i am complaining about this perk. Because it is so strong. And on my case, Artist needs nerf. Not perk.

Killer perks generally don't get nerfed because a nerf to strong perks usually ends up being a huge nerf to weak killers.

Instead, killers get nerfed - especially their addons - while buffing weaker perks. The idea is to close the gap between strong and weak killers, and nerfing strong killer perks would probably have the opposite effect. Survivors are 100% perks, and thus perks are what get nerfed. Survivors don't have a 'kit'.

Artist absolutely doesn't need a nerf. Her numbers looked...fine.

Honestly it's like anyone who plays this killer does it for the memes.

He's...mediocre. Not as bad as Pig, Legion or Trapper, but not good. His kit feels designed for camping and Bamboozle is basically mandatory on him.

  • @jarjargist21 said:

Ok so I had a match with a pinhead and I normally solve the box when he's carrying someone. This time the chains kept hitting me refusing me to solve the box or is that normal? I honestly thought if you're trying to solve it the chains will stop.

If anything, he's on the weaker side.

A trick for the chains: Pick up the box, move somewhere safe. Chains will spawn in volleys (I think 1 chain for every survivor alive -1 ). Dodge the volley, then solve it.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Wait... A killer main who has never purchased a killer with shards? Does that mean... You spent real money, or like, you just don't have access to half the killers?

I spend money because I'm an idiot like that, and sometimes they are like 75% off on Steam.

We need a sarcasm button. The dumb comments I just ignore. As soon as someone says Killer/Survivor Main, their entire argument is moot. They're just parroting something they saw before, or heard from their favorite Streamer. Unless you've watched me play all my matches, you can't tell if I'm either/or. Especially as I have significantly more Survivor shinies than Killer shinies, and more webs on my Survivors as well. Being a "main" is not an argument for or against anything. It's just whatever playstyle you prefer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2788519#Comment_2788519

I enjoy Killer a lot more, but lately I've been playing a good 70% Survivor because as soon as that frustration starts rising, I know I need to take a break. So I get 5-6 matches in, last one being a toxic shitshow, and then jump over to Survivor for the rest of the night so I can chill and not deal with it. I enjoy both sides, so it's not really a big issue for me, I just enjoy Killer more because the interaction is so much more appealing.

    Heh.

My routine is generally 'survivor in the mornings, work, killer in the evenings'. And yes, killer can be very annoying sometimes, especially when the survivors are obnoxious.

This is fair, thank you. And yes, i agree with this. I love to similar games. When i face with baby survivors, i am feeling bad for them. Or when i play against bully squads, this is also unfun. I love balanced matches more, even i lose.

I asked this question to him because some people thinks they are god and they need to win all games. I don't wanna give name but there is one streamer has this mentality already.

Well...they are streamers. Nobody likes losing at the best of times, and losing in public with an audience is infinitely worse. I sympathize, especially with killers (for some reason, dying as a survivor doesn't feel as bad).

Dunning Kreuger syndrome is also alive and well in the gaming world.

Demo didnt really got any change, only his addons where changed but I agree there, his addons are really cool now.

If I recall, he had a brown that was basically necessary and was made mostly basekit. Rat liver? It's...been a while.

It was a minor rework, but the change opened up his builds.

  • @BenZ0 said:

Idk it seems like ppl never really say that out loud like its something emberassing xD, I am gonna start:

The new wiggle change is actually REALLY cool, it is really fun and interactive.

The hatch and key change is probably one of the best things they have done, a very healthy change for the game and i cant thank the devs enough for that, I never have to worry about a 3man escape right off the bat after I kill someone if someone finds a key.

New Killer and Perk designs are consistantly getting better and more fun. I feel like this is one of the most underappreciated things in dbd, Artist, Pinhead, Blight and Twins are all very well designed Killers (Even though some might not be that fun to face they are still indeed very well balanced and not too op or underpowered), they all offer a fair amount of counterplay and are very fun to play if you like their gameplay style. Same goes ot the perks like Flashbang, Power Struggle, Deception, Boons, Erruption, Hysteria, Scourged hooks (I mean both perks here), Deadlock, Hex plaything, Hex pentimento hell even grim embrace. All of these perks are very fun, unique and offer very interesting gameplay to try out with new cool combinations and builds. Sure they are not the greatest top tier meta perks but you dont NEED meta perks to be able to have fun, many ppl seem to forget that often.

Anyway what changes or new things do you guys appreciate?

Agreed on new wiggle thing, the wife yells at me on a nightly basis due to the hammering of my mechanical keyboard. Really great change.

    From me:

    • SBMM. I know it's a touchy subject, but the game now compared to when I started under ranks is so much better. Before, maybe 2/3 of my games were crap. Now it's...maybe 1 in 5. I'm worried though due to my ever shortening killer queues and ever growing survivor queues that the prime-time SBMM meltdown is going to become the norm.
    • Agreed on keys. I wish they had a bit more of a purpose, but it was never fun to lose 3 people suddenly.
    • Pain Resonance is my favorite DbD perk of all time. It requires some interesting decision making, has plenty of counterplay, but is strong and satisfying to use.
    • MAC level bans for hackers...yeah. We need more, but it's a good start.
    • The Plague and Demogorgon reworks were fantastic, both just feel incredible to play now. Plague in particular.
    • The game balance is in pretty much the best shape I've seen since I started.
    • While I'm not a fan of the map as a killer, Eyrie looks spectacular. I just can't bring myself to hate it, despite the fact that I know it's spectacularly badly designed.
    • Artist is one of the best killers BHVR has ever made, and I'll never get tired of playing her.
    • OoO getting nerfed was such a positive change.
    • Extremely excited about Ringu. Never expected it to be added!
  • For me - a match where, if I lose, I can easily pinpoint why and that thing is either bad play from me or good play from the survivors.

To me, those are the fun matches.

Where I get frustrated is when I basically lose at the killer selection screen, because I wanted to play a funky build on Pig and get sent up against a stompcomp with fully stacked meta perks, an offering and items, or because the SBMM system pooped the sheets.

I also don't enjoy games where I stomp. I'll usually start easing up if I'm up against newbies, but that's only slightly less crappy than just slaughtering everyone at 5 gens.
