  • The unified forums lead to what was to expect from a company's failure when it comes to Balance, Fairness, Lack of competence and Communication.

Full on Toxicity, similarly to all other forums. The Positivity attempt was good at its release, now we're back to the usual state of deception for the game considering it fails to meet the requirements of decency.

    So I deleted them.

The next day, I woke up, and I had 280+ steam notifications. The guy insulted me on every single of my screenshots. One different insult (or nearly) for each of them.
So I pressed "Ignore user" and it deleted all of them at once.

I still admire his effort to this day.

What on earth did you do to them!?

To be honest ? Nothing that I don't do on a daily basis. The only thing that I remember about the round is that I was playing Hillbilly, and I didn't do anything bad in particular, no facecamping, no hard camp, no nodding or super slugging, I probably triggered some guy by coming back at the hook with my chainsaw. People seem to dislike not being able to get caught then saved without any consequences, from what I've understood.

He basically got triggered that I could deleted his comments so easily because he replied a dozen of times with some taunts about "not assuming" and such. Who knows what's up with people on the internet lol

  • @popoles
Not sure why you act offended. I just gave you my opinion, with some video features to illustrate.
I suggest you this scientific article that will help you to understand :

  • Not that much control, especially when it makes most in-game mecanics obsolete.
The main issue of the game isn't that the chases are too long. A chase could be very long is the survivor is outplaying you (which is not happening against a good nurse). The main issue is the in-game time and the map design allowing survivors to remotely too strong, which is a very different matter, since it leaves very low room for the killer's skill to express (Except for Nurse, which can express it way too much since she pretty much ignores everything)

If the game was actually balanced as you suggested, then, the gens being ultra quick to do would be allright, since the chases would be overly short. But it's just not.

The design, along with the killer's outplay possilities, the generator repair speed (not time, there's other ways to change it), along with Nurse, need to be changed in the long run.

It's not gonna happen tho. Ash is the one that designed the Nurse, and since then, they're just scared to touch at her. I'm not even sure they know how she remotely works at the moment, so you don't have to worry. Doubt she'll change anytime soon, so it's a rather pointless discussion.

  • Getting into an unexpected Trapper's trap is actually a huge jumpscare to me.

Not the worst idea I've read.
    Could be worth testing.

I'm not sure about all the nerfs tho. Breaking dulls is really quick, and getting 3-4 dulls before the killer even started a chase sounds really easy, and would make the gens nearly as fast as the base gens.

Imo, it's gonna make rounds even faster overall.

What is your opinion about my suggested tweaks to OPs idea?

I think there's better ways to balance the game and make it more fun than going dull hunting, especially since anyone getting caught before dulls get cleansed would just get camped and you wouldn't have time to repair & go.

The actual change I'd like to see for gens is the following :
Keep the regular repairing time of 80s.
Make it so some generators are mostly unsafe, and out in the open.
Make the "safer" generators to be unlockable via some manoeuver, aka using a switch to open a door, moving a harvester, and such, which would also lead to more hiding spots for hex totems.

    What would this allow ?
It would make non-campers to be able to effectively punish gen-rushing, since the generators would be rather unsafe.
It would still allow people to fast repair against campers, since the killer would put no pressure on generators whatsoever.

Which would basically force people to unlock parts of the map to be safer, which would lead to longer rounds overall for both sides.

This would be an interesting change. The only other thing that would need to be done is rebalance the maps so that all the killers can have the capability to end chases quickly since alot of the pressure comes from having a hooked survivor and it can be incredibly damaging to a killers ability to pressure gens when a single survivor can occupy so much of the killers time with broken map balance.

    Could be.
Tho we all know nothing of the sort is happening.
They got something clunky, but "working" at the moment. They're not gonna risk a rework for a possible better outcome, especially considering how shy they are with simple buffs or nerfs that are needed since day 1.

Not sure if they will do timed perks, because that would make it really unreliable. Sounds interesting though.

Situational perks will never be picked anyway as long as versatile/power perks (aka win on a button) are stil available.

Right now, people do not pick perks because of a build, they pick them because they're strong by themselves and useful, which is wrong. If you try to do situational perks, you'll probably make a pretty bad perk unless it's overly strong, which is not the case of this one.

Gives you time to search for the hatch as long as you've done 2 gens. I've done that before then spun around and around to alert the other Survivors of it. One got the hatch in the end, so was worthwhile imo. No 4k for Mr Killer, and yes, he was salty AF in post-game. Oh the lulz. :chuffed:

It's mostly a killer feature to use not to give a free hatch, or eventually to bait another survivor in.
Allowing the survivor to have more choice would give survivors one more convenient advantage.

Seems like everytime TBH. But hey ho. Not a thing we can do about it.

We all got screwed at some point. It's not like they're known to be a reliable (or even a great ?) company tbh.
The main thing I can say is this thing, as a longtime dbd player :
Play the game casually, and don't expect things. If you do start the game with expectations, you're playing the wrong game, because it's never ever gonna meet decent standarts and you'd better consider actual polished game, such as :
    Cuphead
    Darkest Dungeon
    Monster Hunter World

    To name a few.

  • I mostly agree with the black lock. The other one is eventually more debatable. Hard to tell considering I didn't play Pig nearly enough to make sure.

  • The hatch change will be tested in the new PTB, but I believe it's not gonna happen in the next patch, so probably not before autumn.
Same with DS, as far as I'm concerned.

A dev would be better to confirm, but in any case : it's not anytime soon. More than 6 weeks for sure.

Looks like Latency to me, never happened to me ever, and I play full survivor or nearly since the patch.

Ehhh, either way hope it gets fixed.

I guess ye. The only weird hit I received as survivor so far is the one I posted above, and is very debatable, especially with a slight latency, and since it's pig and her lunge is deceptive.

Tho there's definitely something wrong in the one with the Billy you posted.

If that happened to me, I’d just throw the whole game away

    I'd just live with it.
Killers have been experiencing way harsher bugs at the release, aka getting stuck in pallets/trees, with people on their shoulders, and such.

  • I don't get how waiting a few days can make you guys so mad to be honest. I understand it can be a slight annoyance, but... It's ######### BHVR ? We waited 1 year and a half to get the sound fixed, waited more than 1 year to get scratchmarks midly fixed, waited more than 1 year for the vacuum to go, waited more than 8 months at release to get infinites to halfly-get away, amongst other stuff.

Yet, you guys still act surprised and stuff about "having to wait".
It's just their policy at this point, they're not in a hurry, will never be, no matter how people complain. It has always been the case, and always will.

When you ask them, they just say "it's an on-going process", even tho they could tweak their games in a matter of weeks rather than years for obvious reasons, since most fixes only requires a few changes on numbers rather than on the core scripts, and everyone knows that.

On top of that, I'll just add that some devs just said that the game would be very different if they were the ones taking the decisions (especially when it comes to ranking, rewards, competitiveness and such), but the decisions are taken "way above their paycheck".

BHVR is a full marketing company, that is going for the most cost effective situation : low efforts, high rewards. People being "midly happy but still sticking around" is the way marketing works. That's even how most ISP do work. They do not want people to be "truly happy with the service", they want people to be "just happy enough so they don't leave, and they don't have to pay an extra cost".
(Btw, if you ever get a survey from your ISP, always answer you're rather unhappy, or they may slightly restrict your lines over the time for you to be "too happy about your service", it has been happening too much time to count.)

There's no stun delay. You just drop the pallet too late to try to greed a stun/because you do not reach it in time.

At times, it looks weird like taht, but it's mostly due to small killers having longer range than it looks, overall, and greed over the pallet.

I heard from many players, that Sally is boring to play as. What is so exciting about playing Hillbilly? To me, he seems to be a M1 killer that sometimes uses his power. (This is the reason I play Nurse, because I have to use her power).

He is actually very strong, but with limitations.
You can use his chainsaw for pallets, with a lot of ACTUAL mindgames.

Not to mention the flick that can be used to surprise your opponents, and take ACTUAL skill to manage and estimate

Along with pallet breaking, long range chainsaws
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwtNwQJ_uj0&feature=youtu.be
Along with ACTUAL prediction and HAVING TO COMMIT to your prediction, or you basically fully lose your chase, rather than "Oh, I'll just blink once more and correct"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puNfJ5wkCLI
You can also chainsaw in several occasions around pallets, you just need to be good at estimating it.

@SovererignKing You're just repeating the same (wrong) thing over and over. Even overly good people you see in tournament, that plays the game for 4k hours, and even main'ed Nurse (Aka Marth and such) cannot properly juke a good Nurse. It's not a matter of being good or not. Nurse has the control over the chase, and while you have a few tricks, she is 90% in control of what is happening, and you're nearly fully relying on her ######### up, rather than you doing great. Which is the exact same issues other killers have with survivors : they rely on other's mistakes, rather than their own skills.

  • Hex : Friendly Gift
Make the hex perks to spawn at a 15 meters range (maximum) of all survivors.

    Owait, it's already the case

I've been trying to design one of those "150% movement speed" Perks for a while. One that isn't an unfunny meme like SB and Lithe, but one that's more consistent than, say, Balanced Landing, whose potential is obviously a lot greater on a Crotus Prenn map than on a Coldwind Farm map.

I think I got an idea.

Sweet Freedom: After being freed or escaping from a bear trap or meathook, break into a sprint at 150% of your normal running speed for 3 seconds if you are within the Killer's terror radius or enter it 3/5/7 seconds after being freed. Causes Exhaustion for 60/50/40 seconds.

What do you think? Does this sound good?

I think it's basically a nerfed sprint burst.

  • Camping is a necessity.
Just don't feel forced to save/get saved. You're 1 out of 4 guy.

    in Camping Comment by Runiver

  • Ok.

  • I'd love to see one exit gates, so a Trapper could just stack his 6 to 8 traps in front of the door handle and wait there. Now that would be hilarious.

  • Who cares tbh.
If you're in a hurry to have things accomplished and done, you're playing the wrong game anyway.

Everything takes months on dbd. Even a slight number tweak will take them 5 months to consider, since the game to them is basically still an "embryo" that they do not fully understand themselves.

  • Wanna know why killer tunnels ?
    It's due to 2 reasons :

    • The 15 meters syndrone, as I call it : This one is pretty simple. As killer at high ranks, as SOON as you step 15 meters away from the hook, the unhook WILL happen. There's NO mindgames. It happens, EVERY, SINGLE, TIME. Knowing that fact, you can just come back at the perfect timing to see the unhooker/unhooked from afar, get a free hit on the bodyblocking survivor to waste his time, and then chase back your hooked target to go for the kill.
    • If you actually swap up targets, people do get refreshed time on hooks, which give people enough time to complete gens. If you allow survivors to swap freely their place on the hook, you'll just hook them all once, then twice, which will make the game extra-long and usually allow them to win. Your best bet is to eliminate 1 guy ASAP, so then, once you get someone on the hook, you can stop the only repairer by not camping, while the other guy go for the save, so you completely deny the progress, even if the gen counter is rather low.

It's actually nearly pointless to try to fight 4 players "fair", unless you're facing newcomers. As killer, you rely on people's mistakes for the most part to actually win a round, and camping the first target in the round is one of the most efficient strategy to adopt in that regard, since running at the opposite of the map to eventually get one guy that will sprint burst and loop while the 2 other guys will just save and insta-heal/repair at the other side of the map will simply make you to lose. (and will make you lose malicious points in the process, because devs though "Yeah, let's make non-camping to make the killer to lose earned points, that sounds interesting!")

That should not be a consideration at all and its sad if that is the devs reason for not providing an incentive to reach rank 1 because it is so easy to reach rank 1 in the emblem system. The devs need to rethink there stance on this. The hurt feelings of casuals because they cant reach rank 1 dont matter.

Oh, yeah. They should remake this game competitive. But as I got answered by devs themselves on that matter :
"The rank system and the game itself would be way different if I was the one taking the decisions, but the decisions are way above my paycheck."

No wonder why I renamed my game "Dead By Marketing"

  • I just want a fun enough round and I consider it a win. I don't care if I kill/not kill, survive/not survive as long as I got enough from the round.
There has been several 0-1k that have been way more fun to me than random 4ks. I actually quit the game for a few days when I'm forced to play some low ranks at times, because getting easy 4k is one of the most boring experience ever.
