I'm not at home right now and didn't get the chance to play the event yet. So take my take (not intended) with a grain of salt.
From what I've seen from videos online, the poison is the most boring free hit mechanic ever seen in dbd. The hit is even more free than release Ghoul.
I personally don't see how that's engaging to play with, but I've also never been a fan of forced hits.
At least the invisibility mechanic seems fun to play with, as it's at least something new.
I assume, that bhvrs marketing campaign worked to get a bunch of people on board for the survivor perks, Jason and the anniversary event. These people either continue playing (after getting the event rewards) for cakes or because they like it. What I think most people do, is getting the rewards, play survivor or quit the mode entirely, switching to normal queue.
Numbers are up because theres new stuff. Not surprised. It's always been that way.
the poison isn't so bad baring in mind the survivors can get free heals or ways to elude the killer, I've been using head on to give me a little respite midchase and buy a bit of time if I'm hit with it.
it's simple and effective and with how some killers have so much going on, that's probably a good thing, unlike survs who have a simple toolkit,
My least fav has to be the pallet mechanic, the invuln doesnt work on projectiles and the pallets are frustrating for some killers to go against, but again the poison is there as an answer so it's not all too bad.
People are still playing the mode in troves lol I've been playing it non stop and not seen a single repeating face yet.
While you are right its due to new stuff, they are the highest they've been in a long time. -
I think people are learning the poison is stronger than they thought lol
It's just the usual people getting really upset and coming on here to vent that they dont understand the mode. -

It is very survivor sided if survivors know how to take advantage of it. I'm fine with BHVR having an event game mode where each side has 2016 level op stuff again, as there are lot so fun things to do as survivor.
But BHVR needs to give such tools to killer as well. Poison is not enough. Like if we poison a table with x amount of plates on it, we should get powers like map wide exposed for 60 seconds or instant hooking options. Let killers have interactive fun things they can do as well please.
My guess is they were playing it safe killer side as it's probably the harder side to balance for the event, especially in the first iteration.
I definitely expect more refined mechanics for both sides next year, at least it's simple but effective for them, I personally would love during the haste one if killer got the blighted serum from the halloween event. The pallet one could be the reduced pallet stun and the invis one could be undetectable. -
She really doesn't need all of this, she just needs her spit cd increased and auto aim removed and the head form buffed by giving it something in return like better controls
That way she isnt ezpz spit spam until you get it right into m1 which is the most frustrating part to face but the head which most frustrating part of playing AS her is also fixed. -
I agree with the unbreakable pallets, the team wide heal however idk, it's a tough one, maybe heal every survivor who CONTRIBUTED to the table?
That way the solo healing all 4, it's more something you contribute to, to help yourself and requires a time commitment from all 4 for the set up to be worth it. -

In my opinion, Rampage is far and away Jason's weakest perk, but I also don't think it'd be that difficult to fix it. I've got three ideas, two of which are buffs to its current effect and one of which is a full rework for reasons I'll get into further down.
- Idea one: Double token gain per pallet break
This one's pretty simple, because the main issue this perk has is just that it scales way too slowly for a perk that also only counters a survivor action. Doubled token gain means you hit the reasonable break points for value much quicker while retaining the perk's current shape.
- Idea two: Start at 8% Haste, gain tokens up to five via pallet break to increase it to 13%
Similar to the above, but letting the perk start with a noticeable Haste effect from the jump. Again, it operates based on survivor actions, so it's allowed to be pretty good— survivors can avoid it triggering at all.
- Idea three: Full rework. After being successfully pallet-stunned or blinded, Rampage activates for X seconds. while Rampage is active, gain X% decreased basic attack cooldown, increased basic break speed, and increased basic vault speed.
The thing about Rampage is that it's vying to be a sidegrade to a perk that people already don't really want to use despite it being perfectly okay. This rework preserves the idea of the survivor action triggering the berserker rampage, but reworks what you get to make it more the "ultra m1 killer" mode. It's kinda funny this version of the perk would be even less useful for Jason himself, but sometimes that's how it is with teachable perks.
No numbers pitched, they'd need to be tested. Those are my ideas, and personally I'd use any version of the perk pitched there. I'd like to see this perk improved, I like anti-flashlight tools that are more interesting than Lightborn.
I like it as it is for full flashlight squads, I got it in Gideons once and I was zooming toward the end.
I've been saying it recently but it's been making me reconsider Shadowborns usefulness
but I suppose it being gained faster couldn't hurt to test. it procs off of blastmine and also flashlight saves, so it can really come in clutch. -
Like I wanna say its to sell Jason, but… it's probably just a coding error/bug
-
@NeverSolus said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/469311/lightborn-needs-a-rework
"Work hard to get flashlights" my brother in christ there are literally perks that just give you flashlights from chests 100% of the time.
While you are right, it's easy to empathise why it might be frustrating to go into a game excited to use your perk or item and… you can't, especially if you've built around it.
Same goes for killers who hate being blinded for XYZ reason, give killers a dark mode for blinds and I personally think now lightburn is gone Lightborn should be reverted to slowing down flashlight use. -
Honestly it's not been so bad for me, I got my butt handed to me once by a relaly good team, but I've won most of my killer games so I really can't complain.
I really wish people would post their matches to show me just how bad all of them are, coz… I'm not believe everyone is losing ALL of their games with how good the poison is. -
Mandy is right though, people, myself included have been riling each other up.
Like people are clearly enjoying the game, the numbers of players is still high lol, I just think people are more vocal of their issues coz there is more playing rn.
I get legit issues, but… patience for those who are coming at BHVR, they do listen but things take time to change believe it or not. We all love the game here/enjoy it, so just take a break or play normal queue while you wait or wait until next years iteration lol…
No reason to sit there kicking and screaming, I think the message has been seen at this point and they'll address it when they are ready lol
Better things to be stressing over and putting energy into lol -

Every event queue is like this, and has been like this since they divided the queues during events.
MMR certainly doesn't help either, and neither did the finisher moris they introduced last year.I wanna blame a lot of Content Creation who involve in the competitive scene also, all the win streak videos etc
MMR is definitely the catalyst -
All I'm gonna say is, people aren't stopping playing rn so I'm getting conflicting messages from all these threads LOL I'm starting to see more killers catch onto the poison and survivors never once not been in need on my servers.

@Memesis said:
I swear vigil is the problem. That perk needs to be split into multiple perks or just gutted. Unhealthy design that counters way too much and buffs too many already strong perks. A survivor pairing vigil with stb, sprint burst and deliverance or dramaturgy get so much value on top of just so happening to kill every mangled perk and addon, all exposed perks, clown and Freddy completely, it's just busted.
I've used Vigil since it was introduced to the game, I'm not going to defend it but if it did need nerfed IDK why it couldn't be reverted to its original version with the stacking, back then it wasn't used very often resulting in the buff. They probably have the stats for the perk on their end, but I don't recall seeing it in the most used.
I've always like it as it was one of our only answer to cleansing debuffs in some sort of form, but ever since it got buffed people use it mainly for the exhaustion.
I can understand people saying it affects killer powers it shouldn't, maybe that's one of the things the recode is aiming to fix. -
Do remember BHVR supports many of the communities artists throughout the years! Honestly even if the video isn't AI, hopefully the community backlash is enough to show INK that they should never touch it, same with BHVR but atleast in BHVR's case that seems to be true.
-
No, or we end up with the nurse situation we had years ago, or blight would become even stronger.
powers should not interact with certain perks, it's by design. -
Both are unhealthy for the game honestly, enable snowballing
-
A bonus on other killers would be nice, some MOBAs used to do it back in the day. Maybe a BP bonus for playing X killer
-
I don't mind if this is them testing new mechanics, I'm always game to try something new

I was playing some Trickster yesterday, and he just baffles me.
I have come to figure out the patterns in ranged killers. If the projectile does instant damage, the killer is 4.4. If the projectile infects or builds up to damage, the killer is 4.6.
But Trickster is a killer where the projectile builds up to damage, and he’s 4.4. I don’t understand why, it doesn’t make sense. And I don’t think there is any good reason he should stay 4.4.
I recommend trying ricochet blades or the like, I don't agree they should be 115 but I do think their old haste addon should be brought back, especially if the likes of Jason gets to have teleportation and haste.
That said Trickster's strength can come from how quick they can down in my opinion, rock loops are the ones I find are most problematic but ricochet lets you aim to bounce off the pallet and get your hits.
my current build is: Furitive Chase, Friends til the end, bamboozle, turn back the clock -

If you are going to talk in my place - which you shouldn't and you can't - at least DON'T TWIST MY WORDS
1 - It was just the screenshot of 2 matches (4k), but one of them was someone trolling - saboing a hook on death hook. You are ignoring the 6 survivor matches with 3 to 4 escapes i had.
2 - I'M NOT PERSONALLY COMPLAINING. I'm playing mostly survivor this event. I've just said BHVR should listen to the complaints. There are some people who only play killer or mostly play killer and they want to have fun in the event. This event is absurdly one sided to extent of creating very unfun scenarios for killers and BHVR should pay attention to that.
Please, don't talk in my place. Its annoying and disrespectful.
Honey it's up to you to clarify not me, I ain't speaking for you just saying what I saw.

I’m not taking it out on the players because i will use them in the regular mode. But in event mode? No its survivor pudding.
Honestly it's just going to make survivors resent you, there is no reason not to when you get like umpteen in return.
that's an awful attitude. -

10th anniversary and this is the 'terror' bhvr thinks killers should put on survivors I guess it's the other way around this year. In bhvr fashion they had a good event with interesting announcements just to fumble all the way back with the cakes and the constant reminder that there's a "bp economy" and an event where the "victims" have cheats and the monster just throws bottled farts on them that maybe slow them..
it's been 10 years, we've had metas where DS and adrenaline won endgame easily.
I don't think a single event with the highest concurrent player count is going to "Kill" the game.

even if they fix it, i’m not bringing any when I play killer. I will when I play survivor but this event is so bad. As someone who plays both sides, i understand that most events are killer sided but this event is more along the lines of hey killer go sit in the corner while survivors bp farm mode.
Like I get that, but that's kind of hurting yourself in the long run, they just fixed it supposedly and you get more cakes for bringing them.
Don't take it out on the other players lmfao -

Exactly lmao I get that one-sided events suck, but it gets old always having to pretend that Killers are always the most affected by everything.
I mean I'm literally playing trickster and having the time of my life as killer, the poison is really cool I'd love something like that as a perk some time.
That and it's fun trying to find survivors who are in stealth for me, like a bit of hide and seek, I just think killers don't like a challenge… thern there is the ones who "accidentally" get stuck in Gideons and Midwhich like "Help me stepbro I'm stuck". It's a valid thing to complain about, but who gets stuck there despite being aware of it.

Survivors can become literally unkillable, or trap the killer for ever. Or instantly drop chase and go invisible, and this can be spammed. The only way to prevent it is a killer ability, on a crazy long cooldown, that requires a cake (reduced to almost never appear - survivor abilities don't!). Oh, and there are no ways to get these charges back faster, and the ability just fails to work or falls off maybe 30% of the time.
You can also use a trick, as a SWF, to get permanent health state regen so you can hold the match hostage another way.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4093676#Comment_4093676
Have you played this event as a killer?
How am I supposed to have fun when survivors can instantly drop chases, use multiple methods to trap me in a match for 40 minutes and my ability doesn't work properly?
Again, why are you defending the lack of cakes, the bugs or killers getting trapped forever?
Oh yeah - killer ability requires cakes.
Survivor ability doesn't.
Cakes drop maybe every 5-10 bloodwebs now. Explain to me, as precisely as you can, why you are defending this?
I play both sides you just are way too upset at some modifiers

became a wraith meta and got wrecked on a patch in a week so it would not work on that build anymore, also, thats one perk still being used, i asked to look at the last 20 for killers and surv… and if you research youll see almost all perks for surv are used normally while almost all of killer perks have little to no use
it still works btw, it was put back in, and secret project I see used with gen lock builds too. Phantom Fear with lethal pursuer also.
and no survivors get useless perks too… like all of rick grimes, most of the stranger things ones too are just okay too.
You're just mad coz you're probably getting beat and looking for excuses.

Bro. Does that table represent event queue or general queue?
I play both roles.
This event - there are at least two ways for survivor teams to take the match hostage.
Not just win, actually trap the killer or become invulnerable.
Killer poison should be a counter, but either there's a tech to avoid it or it's just buggy
If they'd wanted to, they could have made this reasonable - but no, they wanted a ridiculously survivor sided event and they got one.
Add to this, they made cakes 90% rarer than previous, I'm getting one every 5 webs or so if I'm lucky.
Why are you defending this?
A better question is why are you defending it, I'm just calling out people who are somehow happy with long killer queue times and need to win most of their games.
Like literally, you're putting a stick into the bike wheel then complaining, I also don't defend the unbreakable pallets, thats the one modifier that is like yikes.
Go have some fun lmao -

then please, tell me, what was the last reasonable buff killers got, them i want you to look at the last 20 perks added in both sides and tell me the % of use of them in each side
Turn back the clock for starters, it became a wraith META perk, but I shouldn't need to explain to someone who can't do a little research on their own without a bigger content creator telling them how to play the game.

Do you really believe a killer can win against 4 good survivors with just a silly poison debuff considering how many things survivors have going for them?
I'm not personally complaining - i don't care, its an event and i will problably play survivor most of it. But BHVR need to listen so many people who are reallly upset since this should the biggest event of DBD history and its not turning out to be.
Could have fooled me, you're in 2 threads repeating your words… hardly can argue with your consistency.
As for 4 good survivors, y'all complain about SWF outside of the event, what's the difference with it being in the event, good killers are also oppressive, does that make them OP? No.
The insta heal requires 4 plates (Which you can poison), a "good" killer should be doing that. There is plenty to interact with. The most valid complaint rn is the pallets, the heal is the least of my concerns.
In the meantime while you wait for it to be fixed, coz people are talking about it and it likely will be fixed, why not just enjoy the event for what it is, it only happens once a year.. lmao and this is the first iteration.
Just tired all people have done is moan recently, yet we are at our highest concurrent players ever rn -

Boring is being 60s locked because your killer can't teleport or vault over pallets, LOL.
Then don't play said killer, or go play normal queue, it's better than endless whining about the event, it's only here for 20 days.
I don't see anyone playing said killers who get stuck anyways rn. I play trickster and I don't get stuck coz I don't go into silly locations -
@Rickprado said:
I just wish they gave back the remote hook and pallet break during this event. Considering how many things survivors have going for them i think it would be "balanced". Also remote hook made killer gameplay much more fluid - although completely unfair sometimes - going to chase after chase without spending time carrying someone to a hook.
Remote hook just encouraged pain res, scourge hook builds, now THATS boring.

I've won most of my matches on both sides but this doesn't have anything to do with the balance overall, its just the randomness of the matchmaking.
Saying this event is "as broken on the killer side" its borderline lying. And i'm not personally complaining about the event since i'm mostly playing this as survivor with friends but its silly to desconsider so many people who are clearly upset of so much one-sided event.
PS: if 4 health states on a single person on a chase, while 1 are going for tables and other 2 are on gens is not broken for you i don't know what else can change your mind.
It's not borderline lying, you just proved it yourself too… Imagine winning and still complaining.
I just think people don't like change, play normal queue.
Almost like we have 30+ killers and if you don't like the instant heal there is over 100 perks to choose from specifically for it.
Build and adapt lmao -

I understand advocating for playing for fun in this event but saying its a "kneejerk reaction" its too much. Me and my friends have been able to pull chases with 4 health states due to how table works, use sprint burst and the event item to pre run the killer, use a commodious toolbox 5 times in the same match, etc etc.
I've been playing for the cakes and stuff but saying killers are more than party clowns in this event is absurd. Its almost survivor god mode event.
Skill issue lol I'm loving the extra health states and the mobility coz survivors are going into bad positions and also giving me main event often. the survivors were playing altruistically, which means they aren't on gens, I want more of this in the game, not less. Let's stop pushing the game to gen rush timmy central please and thank you.
IDK, it's just as broken on killer side, I think people need to stop try harding and have fun for once, it ain't that deep. If you complain about everything you're gonna be miserable, take a break lol -

that poison does nothing against unbreakable pallets ( try versing this in gideon), invisibility on command and after a portal, teamwide adrenalin basically on command, etc etc
Not to mention that you can lock the killer in an area with the unbreakable pallet thingy. Also really easy on Gideon.
Really fun to play, when you can't do anything for up to 60s. And swfs can time it and prepare the next table to trigger right after the first is finished. Trapping the killer again for 60 seconds. So we went from complaining about everything to complaining about a specific thing, see this is much better feedback than "Everything is terrible" that people are doing.
that's true the basement pallets in gideon and the ones by the clocktower in midwhich as some examples could trap people.
You can still sabo the tables that have plates on, broken also messes with the adren so does deep wounds (Legion etc) -
idk about that, I use Rampage on Unknown it helps with my m2 zoning when I get the higher stacks, especially flashlights, looking into those like a moth for value is hillarious.

I agree and disagree with this post:
Its not as bad as some people make it out to be, if you play to win. If you bring in a strong build/killer you can survive most of what the event throws your way due to the time survivors have to put in to get these buffs. Most games I play killer, I struggle a lot more because the random buffs but can play well, and the poison in chase is nice. However, There is relatively nothing new about the game for killers, and it is essentially an "allow the survivors to play with their new toys that make your game harder" event. I don't hate it, especially since its brought in more casual players so the pool is a lot less sweaty. But its still harder and basically the same game for killers, that much is true.
exactly, plus the side objective can act like a bit of slowdown for gens, if they are doing the plates they arent on gens.
Not to mention if you poison the tables you mess everything up for them, regardless of how annoying it is.
Quick queues too lol -
faster killer queues for me
