I'll even go as far as to say i've gotten several survivors dodging the lobby every 2nd or 3rd time i go to play as rick. (Especially in the sheriff outfit) but i always have Calm Spirit and Iron Will perks on in every one of his loadouts. So that you only have to hear the voicelines.
They put a lot of effort into making a new form of voicelines for the walking dead characters where they actually interact with other walking dead survivors ingame. But since noone wants to use them due to the sound quality, all that effort has kind of gone to waste.
Yeah it's the one part of the chapter which flopped is the effort and screams, like they were rushed. the voicelines are my fav part of them and I really want them for the RE characters, especially Geralts pallet drop one.
-
it's funny coz I kind of like facing the portal and invis coz people try to hide with the invis infront of me sometimes and I get a free hit, I use the portals a lot as killer and I jumpscare people, it's really funny.
it's the pallets I hate, but it's map dependant. That and the haste when used with a competent team makes it really hard to keep up with them, but I play ranged killers so it's usually not so bad, the poison is crazy good on them. -

Anime can be horror, horror belongs in DBD. Hatsune Miku I get, but Chainsaw Man is as horror as Saw or Terrifier; it being animated doesn't change that. A more fitting example would be something like the R6 Siege collab or if we were to be very pedantic even Tomb Raider or Witcher that can be seen as scary situations if we were in them but aren't explicitly horror media.
Tomb raider has always been horror adjacent, look at tomb raider 1's flesh factory atlantis and the likes of 2013's prequel (the one she was taken from lore wise). I mean it comes with the territory of tombs too lol
Anime is definitely horror, they should explore it more. -

Can I add how bad Claire Redfield sounds to this list, her voice is really bad and doesn't fit her at all.

The problem is it has happend in other game but the things those games also have is no sbmm and thats the problem the match making is insane when I first started playing i went up against p100 killers and survivors which I know doesnt mean they are good but the likely hood that you have that much time in the game and still are as bad as a new player is insanly low.
What other game has it happened in? I'm curious. I will agree the SBMM is a huge problem, but even in event queue that has no matchmaking it's like really likely you get paired with hex jason etc.
Also I'm inclined to agree with @radiantHero23 I think people take this game too seriously rn -
I think he could use some buffs yeah, I miss playing against him and Tiff
I'm not really sure what I could suggest, maybe a shorter CD? or better control on his power since Myers basically got that and way more. -

Clearly Trapper is OP. It shouldn't be possible for anyone to win 200+ times in a row. It just shows how unbalanced this killer is.
/s but these are actual arguments you find here.
We joke, but we are quick to dismiss the fact that something he might be doing with his build could show something wrong with the game. I'm not saying there IS something wrong but no other game has ever had this happen that's competitive.
Like the build or a specific playstyle, or maybe a specific trapper interaction… What I don't understand is why the balance team doesn't study these win streaks (on both sides), to see what's wrong. -

BHVR has confirmed already adding a replay system is not possible and or not feasible. The game would have to be built from the ground up with that feature in mind for it to be added.
It's a nice thought but unfortunately won't be happening.

What really was the nail in the coffin for me was the disaster AFK crows + DC penalty update that went live for an entire week, while the anti-camping/tunneling/slug patch had the plug pulled DURING the PTB.
Yeah I'm ngl, this really irked me and not to mention killer queue times are longer than ever. I'm sure we could lose the bad actors and watch them adapt and evolve the system from there.
IDK I'm just sick of the bad actors in general rn event queue has been like:
-Hex Jason
-Sluggin Twins
-Slugging Blight
-Overtuned af Myers
-Legion poison abusers with end fury (shouldnt work on their power) ←— this one is the kicker coz I swear Legion has ruined every single new event we've ever gotten: 2v8, Lights out and now this. -

No shattered hope shouldnt be base kit boons need a limit so they can be buffed into being more viable but not broken sense they can be place infinite right now if we add a limit they can make the perks better
the downside is how long they take to place, it's forever and a day especially when a hex is in play.

Trickster is one of the worst killers in the game, why do you want Jason brought down to his level instead of Trickster brought up to Jason's? Also I'm not a Jason main, in fact I don't even like playing him very much, I just spent time playing him to try to learn why the devs made some of the decisions they did. I deliberately did not use the hex build.
Jason does not get Bamboozle basekit. Like I said, the window/pallet block lasts only 2 seconds, during which time Jason cannot attack. If he's using Bamboozle and teleports to a window, he applies the Bamboozle block.

People keep picking apart the singular tiles without actually understanding what point I'm trying to convey with them, which is that his access to ammo is inconsistent and that's why he has the movespeed buff he does.
I went to Midwich this time, widely regarded as a killer-favoring map, and screenshotted two tiles to convey the point, and hopefully people will get it this time.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/A7U9XXEDTXCY/20260705024605-1.jpg
1 reload point in the tile, he has to leave the room to get another spear if he misses, or if he didn't have ammo prior to entering this room. Every room in Midwich was laid out like this.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/R0FR6QWLXL2S/20260705024643-1.jpg
Literally one single reload point in the entirety of the courtyard and it's shoved in the back of a corner. Now to be fair, I reloaded this map to see if this was a fluke, and the second try there was another hook in the courtyard in a much more convenient spot (slightly to the right of where I took this screenshot) but this is still far from ideal.
Okay, what about Coal Tower? Often regarded as a well-balanced map.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FW089DI8XXFR/20260705025658-1.jpg
One reload inside the tile AND conveniently located! He has to exit the tile to get another.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/861VYUGWOG1E/20260705025907-1.jpg
This was the best tile I could find in terms of giving him access to ammo. The hook is conveniently located, but the junk pile is not. It's not the worst placement ever, but walking away from that double window setup to grab a new spear is not ideal.
No other ranged killer has to worry about this. Huntress gets multiple shots. Deathslinger can reload any time. Trickster has a ton of knives. Springtrap just needs to wait out a cooldown and he's 115% movespeed while not carrying his axe.
Importantly, bold for emphasis: this does not mean Jason is weak. Jason is a strong killer. Yes, it's good that he's punished for missing.
But he needs that movespeed buff. If they remove it, he would drop down in tiers dramatically as he suddenly becomes incredibly punishing to play. Any missed spear would become an enormous blow to his odds of downing the survivor in a timely manner, as he would be chasing as a 110% movespeed M1 killer, unless he's willing to take a detour to grab a new spear and let the survivor leave the tile.
"One of the worst killers in the game" I do just fine on them far from the worst killer, I appreciate the well thought out post but I'm tired of Jason cope at this point, your kit is overloaded and that can't be argued, Huntress and Trickster do just fine, Jason is literally easy mode ranged killer for people who want to put in no effort..
He is badly designed, end of, it's exhausting dealing with y'all. -
IDK if it works every time but when he has someone pinned to the wall if you crouch behind him, it can potentially force him into OE. I've done it twice, so I'm unsure if its an actual tech or not, but it works sort of like bodyblocking a hook.
-
Now do it again with casual players, I never want to see this game balanced around the comp scene personally.
I want to see the stats there, also it's not really "lawless" if we are banning killers and preventing repeat killers, is it. Not to mention map rng and the like can vastly impact a match for survivor, it's very different if it is predetermined.
It's somewhat useless data as it doesn't apply to you average DBD match at all, most of the playerbase is way more casual. -
Thank you for the change! <3

What exactly about the perk is so overpowered? I use it and I can say it only works on bad killers, the people who rely on the bright orange marks on the ground instead of using their eyes.
People freaked out that it was "Elusive for free" and that "Elusive is the strongest effect in the game". Basically it originated from the Content Creation scene, looking for something to be upset over to make views IMO.
Yet now they are abusing Hex: Jason for clout WHILST being on the balance council… it's a bit yikes -

Those strong Survivors would be way stronger if they would not waste Perk Slots (and time) on pointless Boon-Perks.
I want to agree, but flow state has really made boons feel more worthwhile for me in the midgame (i do some gens then bless totems with the speed increase, unless I find a really good spot). The issue is that thrill of the hunt hex builds are so common, it basically renders boons unusable rn.

Myers was deffo overkill the buffs they gave him, he doesnt need to be able to break pallets with his dash, or at least reduce the duration Tier 3 is active, it's way too strong.

I mean strictly speaking about the haste effect, what's the difference here between a 12s cooldown and 15s cooldown? They're both shorter than the duration he gets haste for. This nerf would be more to his ability to traverse the map since it would take him longer before he could go back into OE.
But also refreshing it is more inconvenient than it seems. You can only come out of it at a window, pallet, or one of those unique pre-broken pallet spawns. I loaded up a bot game to show the issue.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/S184HXVNHM3N/20260702221214-1.jpg
I chased Tapp to killer shack and then entered OE to refresh haste. I cannot exit OE anywhere on the outside of shack where he is, I have to pick the window or pallet, so he's completely safe until I do.
I also need a new spear. I have two reload points here. Both of them are in inconvenient places. The hook is on the long side of shack, the junk pile is outside of shack. If I miss a shot, I need to go out of my way to get another. If I miss both shots, I simply can't get another until chase leaves shack.
You have a point but that would suggest he needs it shorter than his CD then? I don't see how the reload points matter since he can grab it in OE anyways, as a Trickster player I have to stay stationary at a locker and also move around perma at 110, i need more hits than you requiring me to hit 6 times as much with the possibility of decay thrown in.
Why should Jason get to do my job more easily, I'm reworked just earlier this year, yet you can just reload, get haste, even displace them from the loop with barely even a fraction of the effort, not to mention your hitboxes are much larger.
I basically NEED bamboozle to be able to loop shack against a good player as Trickster, Jason gets haste base kit.
It's frustrating to face and it just doesnt make sense even compared to unknown what Jason can do..
He is this way to sell him. -

This is exactly why he needs the haste. I didn't understand why he got it either until I played him. He has to reload after every shot like Deathslinger and Springtrap, except that he doesn't have as much control over reloading as them. He has to walk by a junk pile or a hook. Until you play him yourself you don't realize how inconsistent this is. I know it feels like when he's chasing you that they're everywhere but trust me they're not.
Even when he does have access to both a junk pile and a hook in a tile, they have respawn periods after he grabs ammo from them
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4096197#Comment_4096197
I feel like you're thinking about this the wrong way.
First off, as you said yourself, he's not OP or too strong (outside of the hex build). So clearly he's not power creep, then. Except for Spirit, all of the killers you mentioned need buffs. Some of them are really weak right now. Unless you think they're the healthy ones, but then the survivors need nerfs instead.
But also, killer playstyles are important and Jason doesn't have the same playstyle as these killers except for the projectile ones.
- Huntress, Springtrap, and Deathslinger all need buffs. And they're distinct from Jason in their own unique ways. Like Springtrap never needs to worry about reloading, just waiting out a cooldown. Deathslinger can reload at any time he wants. Huntress has multiple hatchets so she has way more shots than Jason. If all you care about is the projectile part of the kit, you're still probably going to gravitate more towards Huntress or Deathslinger due to this, or you might find Jason to be a different experience due to the fact he trades inconsistent access to ammo for bursts of faster movement speed, better map mobility, and stealth.
- Spirit has a distinct playstyle of approaching invisibily and tracking by sound, and she can attack instantly out of stealth. She's all about this, Jason just uses stealth to get close to survivors, he can't attack you out of stealth. She's also about as strong as Jason when played well.
- Wrath is also about ambushing people out of stealth. Jason can't do this because he has a delay coming out of OE. He can't cut survivors off and bodyblock them or use his uncloak speed boost to outplay tiles. If you like playing Wraith, you might enjoy Jason but not because he's just a better Wraith.
- Sadako has a very unique macro-oriented playstyle of building up condemned on the survivors and controlling the TVs. She's stronger than people think (I feel like a lot of people try to play her like an M1 killer with a teleport) but she's still weak, and her playstyle is extremely different from Jason as he is a chase-oriented killer while Sadako is about macro play and hit & run.
- Demogorgon already got power crept by Wesker and Dracula. Demo is extremely weak right now and in need of some buffs. And also he doesn't offer the same playstyle as Jason since he's not a projectile killer, he's a dash killer.
but why does he need it for 30s on a 12s CD? 15s would be more than fine.

And those "bad" killers are not even the strongest thing you can do with the poison or the hardest you can counter the mode. Plague laughs at the insta-heal and with the poison it doesn't matter that you are M1 most of the time. I am sure everyone that plays survivor has run into poison bubba, billy, or legion by this point. I can agree that some of these strategies are boring and killers should have gotten more to interact with but claiming the event is wildly survivor sided is crazy to me, its a little survivor sided at best.
Everyone acts like survivors get invis, invuln, and speed in every match when each match only gives them one of those and one of action speed, portals, or unbreakable pallets. Some of this is annoying to face for sure but the poison is much more frustrating to me.
On the topic at hand, I wonder how much data BHVR has about the grind in this game and how much it promotes continued play. I don't think they realize that eventually that strategy backfires once people realize they can never complete it. Its not like the game plans to stop adding tons of new characters any time soon.
Exactly the event is annoying at most and far from unplayable, they clearly know it's fine hense why no changes this year. I just wish they'd release data sometimes to keep people quiet, or even mention the general direction they are heading in, doesn't need to be an elaborate official post.
That way people can stop forcing these extreme narratives. -
@Putti said:

Right? and you could have the current invis from the event as a perk for gen progress like mirrored illusion since it's easy to track with sound.
Lots of potential for fun perks. -
He and all the other RE characters are likely getting a glowup with the visual overhaul. So I'd just hang tight, there is no way they keep them as busted and horrible as they look currently.
My personal wishlist is: Nick, Steph, Nicole, Lily, Eva, Jeff all voicing the survivors.
Rebecca is the only outlier coz she doesn't have a new VA yet. -
@Zakon05 said:
The spears are interesting because when you're playing vs him, it can sometimes feel like he just has infinite ammo. But then you try playing as him, and suddenly getting a spear mid-chase is really difficult, requiring you to give up distance to take a detour to grab it.
Before I had a chance to play as him a bunch, I thought he was a bit too much. But now that I've played him, I think he's overall fine with a few small issues. It really is important to play as the character yourself to learn what struggles they go through and how others counter him. My performance against him went up dramatically with some experience playing as him under my belt. This is true in the opposite direction, too - you should play against the character to see if your issues playing him are personal issues or not.
Jason just needs two nerfs to basically be in a perfect spot imo. They also happened to both be in Scott Jund's video today, so now people can accuse me of parroting streamers!
- You need to be invisible to him in Omnipresent Evil while cleansing totems. The hex build is just way way too good.
- Deputy Badge should not regress already regressing generators.
Also they should maybe look into nerfing Thrill of the Hunt back down to 50% like it was before the buffs it got in 8.4. Hex builds are really difficult to deal with right now and it's all due to Thrill, where before that buff they weren't that hard to deal with while Thrill was still a pretty good perk.
idk coz the haste for coming out of OE just circumvents the downside of constantly reloading, it's dumb.

"No one says anything about that" yet everyone opens a Thread because they think their opinion is the most important one.
And I thought that events dont need to be balanced? This is what was said about past Anniversary Events which favoured Killer… But dont worry, since BHVR is aware now they will, in typical BHVR-fashion, do a complete 180 and Survivors are the main ingredient for the next Black Bankquet event.
Yet I don't get it, the poison is so broken I can play even "Bad" killers this event, the fact unknowns poison and tricksters knives don't remove the poison means I can just set up and kill them with little resistance.
sure they insta heal sometimes but the time to down is so quick it doesnt matter.
Killers keep saying "Survivors aren't as good as they think" well.. sorry to say but it's the other way around, I think killers despite having all the power to adapt, won't.
Like I can say things are annoying sure, but both sides deal with annoying stuff, not to mention I can bet you the stats reflect this. They should share them so far, wasn't this year about being transparent, it'd keep the complainers quiet. -
Same I'm so excited for the Grimoire and the next midchapter for balance changes <3 I can't wait

Story of my life. I was a Jason defender; see my comment history. I argued that he has counterplay in the form of giving survivors control over who takes chase and where they take chase, which is super strong (and true)
However
Should that level of coordinated counterplay be expected in a game like this? It demands all survivors be good at/built for chase. Jason's 'weakness' of frontloading all his strength in chase is cushioned way too hard with the duration of his haste and how quickly he can reset with OE. Reloading is either too fast or too easy to do without taking a detour. So the whole idea of forcing out his M2 and surviving long enough for him to be a 4.4 M1 killer never comes into play.
You can pick who takes chase at any given time if you cooridnate but Jason is the kind of killer that can afford to spread hooks. And I haven't even got to the pain of a slowdown + hex + thrill Jason. It's outright gross.
I was so excited about Jason. He is really fun to play as and my first survivor experiences against him were atmospheric, fun and not impossible. I still don't want his gameplay loop altered too much because he has such a unique feel and I think the design team were very close to a homerun.
Start by making his Haste half its current duration, then work from there.Exactly though, he is so close to being fun to face he just needs some changes but not like executed, they need to find a balance.
they really need to find ways to make killers fun to play as but also fun to face, coz usually its either or, never both. -
I have to agree with this thread, I thought I enjoyed him when he came out but as time went off him and Ghoul being the most popular, I'm really not happy with them being so popular, it's making survivor really exhausting.

The funny thing is, I was being dead serious. Im playing some warframe tonight, which is a game where a team of 4 gets to use the most busted OP stuff to just bully AI enemies that are very predictable. No one cares about balance here, lol. You also have other party games like Phasmophobia that is even a horror coop game. If you WANT an opponent who doesnt show skill expression, get an AI to do it. Being a human player without a way to express skill just feels like a humiliation ritual and no one wants that. AI doesnt care if it has that role.
We joke, but a mode like this would be really helpful for newer players LOL
-
It's definitely dependant on what skill level the players are, what killer is in play and what map it is.
There is so many variables it can be very hard to give a solid answer.
Overall tho things are relatively well balanced for either or side when you don't consider the extreme examples (High skill teams and High skill killers) etc. -

I think you dismissing valid points compared to correcting is night and day to me…
On my end I was personally trying to highlight just how much he does on such a short CD, especially compared to other killers.
Do I think he should lose everything? No, not at all. His synergy with certain builds needs looked at, even the people doing this win streak are saying it's a lose-lose situation for survivors.
Like how you corrected I missed an addon mention at the end of one of the points, I corrected that with an edit as you pointed it out coz I typed it quickly.
When asked what his downsides are, as someone who plays him often, you never gave an answer, something like that can really help paint a picture of feedback to whoever is reading it to foward to the team. At least in my opinion. I was wanting to understand you more. -

tbf, the mini lucky break seems to be a bug. i’ll get the 5 seconds of elusive from being hit by a killers projectile when they are clearly not in the range for the light marks. classic bhvr, having the perk be bugged and not have accurate testing only to receive a nerf (cough Last Stand cough).
Man I wish now that Last stands been fixed that we could test multiple uses for it in a match, with how niche it is.
I think you'd get like 2 a match at most, and that's if its not a stealth killer. -

Gosh it's going to be so much better I hope -

Yeah, the downside to Calm Spirit was an interesting choice. The scream interaction does cause unforeseen issues.
This issue with breaking a totem being heavily guarded goes back several years. Funny how old lessons have to be relearned. At least now Ruin doesn't have the teeth it had back then. As long as you spread out across multiple gens, Ruin doesn't play the pivotal role like it used to.
A three gen around the totem would cause a challege but the same could occur with a Trapper with a well placed trap.
Yeah true re trapper, I remmeber some matches when I saw him more often, I'm basically running:
to counter it right now in my solo Q matches, at least until these builds die down. Calm spirit being completely obliterated by thrill is the main issue though.

I just bring them anyways coz you're missing out on those points too lol
I do wish they made the event queue require the offering mandatory to ensure everyone gets points. or exclude the person who doesnt bring it from the bonus in the event queue only. -
Honestly the heal DR has just made me go back to autodidact + empathic connection, great combo.
Looking forward to future perk buffs/reworks -
