My hot take: When a killer’s design, add-ons, are clearly either outdated, messy or a buggy mess. (Sadako, Houndmaster, Trapper, Hag, Pinhead etc.), it shouldn’t take years for them to get real attention. Specific addons shouldn’t feel “Mandatory” to use on a killer in order to fill in the gaps.
The game is so much healthier when the whole roster feels modern and fun to play as and against, and right now too many killers are stuck waiting. I’d love to see regular, focused killer passes become a core part of DBD’s schedule instead of a rare event, so struggling killers actually get brought up to standard instead of just left behind.
This is why regular midchapters are super important. Not just content releases.
Yeah I agree with this hardcore, it would help my enjoyment immensely if killers were all brought up to the standard of popular killers to face like Wesker etc.
So many fun killers I wish I could face against more. -

Kills and escapes are a valid measure of skill. Players too often get caught up in the outcome of a handful of matches and use that as an argument for hook counts, chase time, etc.
Your skill isn't measure based on a few games. Over the course of hundreds/thousands of trials, will a relatively higher skilled player have more kills and escapes vs a common set of opponents? Of course. And it's disingenuous to argue otherwise.
Players are conflating how they want DbD to be played with how skill is measured.
Survivor skill is a bit harder to quantify. Teammate performance absolutely impacts your escape rate. And I would argue survivor gameplay is just as complicated as killer gameplay, even if the skillset can be a bit different. Chase skill is just one aspect. Game sense and decision-making are arguably more important.
Survivor gameplay is hard coz you have to learn the 30+ different matchups in the game + their interactions with perks and maps.
That's the same with Killer regarding the different perk combos too.
DBD is a really hard game to learn! -

I was just bringing up THAT aspect because you have ppl who haven't given up the game entirely, just 1 role.
Thats fair, I couldn't see the image it wouldn't load for me, deffo not saying it doesn't happen.
I just hope they realise it's just a DBD problem in general <3 it's a tough game to learn!!! -

I mean you have people who are survivor only NOW because they got stressed out from playing killer. Only looking at the people we have left and saying "theyre doing fine" ironically is called survivorship bias.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/H37QJUSM3TY5/1000002390.png
THIS kind, lol
I mean I know people who won't play DBD period coz it's stressful, making it all about one side is hardly fair, there needs to be a more forgiving experience for both sides. I've been advocating for this for ages.
Survivors need a way to fight back against extreme slugging like 2v8 anti slug, tunneling on the high tiers is also harsh.
Killers need fresh hook incentives or something to help them bounce back from losing a lot of pressure, something to ease the blow of a really bad chase.
People like Spookyloopz while they are right people are using the opinion to us vs them, it's a DBD issue, not a killer issue, just look at all the people coming back exclusively for 2v8 survivor side. -

Yeah I mean that's totally understandable, it just goes to show that the survivor side being too strong normally will make the killer players go ultra hardcore mode (min maxing their killer power, addon perks, and tunneling), which makes it so if the survivors actually want to win they need to go ultra hardcore (gen rush builds galore, sprint burst, deli, DS, etc). it just ends up being an unfun spiral
That has nothing to do with the event though I feel, it's the current Hex Jason bs so it's the same in standard 1v4 too.
If anything I find the event just takes up survivor time they could be on gens, sometimes it pays off, most of the time it throws the match waiting at the table, especially since everyones running counters to it.
But the points are good so I am happy gen rushing to get the 2.5k from the payoffs while someoen else does it. -
I've just been bringing ultra genrush timmy build as surv to buy everyone else time to do tables etc:
-Hyperfocus
-Stake out
-Scavenger
-Leader -

You actually have plenty of survivor only players who've effectively been permanently chased away from the role because of the stress.
Literally this, it's not exclusive to one role or game I feel.

Killer anxiety truly is the silent killer right now, Spookyloopz released a decent video recently on that topic too
While I do agree its a thing, it's barely hurting the killer queues rn, they are always a few minutes long for a good reason. I feel its a competitive game thing in general.

A perk buff patch for all the recent perks on both sides which are kind of mid would be lovely, some of them have really fun concepts

Knotted rope was left how it is because people were worried about stacking the effect with perks. Now that we have diminishing returns on those perks, can we either return knotted rope to a useful condition or just change its effect to something people can actually notice.
Yeah I was one of the people who argued for it to be reworked back when STBFL was not nerfed but… both STBFL and Knotted rope could be reverted now we have Diminishing returns with also the using m2 on obsession still loses stacks.
I never thought they'd make it 2 percent and leave it there lol -
@coldflame said:
the perk is just silly, the effect is too powerful to fit in a perk's power budget so it has to be ridiculously conditional and still only be once a trial
i don't think there's much point in bhvr touching it, it'll either be useless or broken OP and i'd rather it be useless
I'd rather a perk be powerful than useless, at least then you get a more varied meta and playstyles coz their is more options.
Conditional and multiple use would be perfectly fine, you'd get to use it twice if even that -
Less: Ghoul, Legion, NEW Myers, Nurse
More: Demo, Huntress, Unknown, Old Myers, Chuckie -

I would love to see them buff her a bit and go back to how she was closer to release where it was single target condemn from 1 TV compared to map wide, and make old Iri-tape partially or completely basekit among other things.
Regarding the current teleport spamming, Onryo mains TV spamming is a direct result of how BHVR reworked her power and counterplay. With the current version of her survivors have no downsides to grabbing tapes but get significant rewards. The rewards being that they are no longer threatened by condemn and that they disable her mobility into that zone for over a minute.
Onryo has essentially no chase power so she relies heavily on her condemn pressure and mobility to win games. With the counterplay being so easy for survivors and being no risk and all reward, they can just grab a tape, hold onto it while doing the gen, and when it is finished go to the next gen and repeat.
This means that Onryo generally HAS to spam teleport to control the TVs to deny tape pickups and spread condemn the moment they turn on. If you let survivors get tapes and turn off TVs, you lose a ton of pressure. As mentioned, if they get tapes at the start before you can turn the TVs off, they will just sit on gens without any risk and remove the few stacks you manage to build up without any risk. "Spamming" teleport, especially at the start, in order to turn of specific TVs is just the best move for Onryo a lot of the time. Onryo needs to control her TVs and the flow of the match, if survivors take that away from her, she is significantly weakened.
Personally I much prefer her release version. Release Onryo was different in that Onryo's had to be very specific with their teleports to get value and survivors had a risk and reward to turning off or interacting with TVs. Survivors could either deny Onryo's mobility, or risk condemn compared to now where they deny condemn pressure AND mobility. The risk and reward was much more balanced and Onryo didn't have to tp spam as a result. Forgive my rambling here but I just am not a fan of how BHVR reworked Onryo. Was better when you had focus condemn and actually had to hit survivors to turn TVs back on, rather than now where Onryo is able to ignore them most of the time until they can down one with a red circle.
Yeah exactly, it's also why I don't play her rn coz I don't want to have to play that way to feel like I'm using her power, she really needs some love to make her more enjoyable to play as and also not irritating for both sides when the counterplay is utilized. I don't fault Sadakos for doing this since it's the only way to get condemn value rn.
Yeah I also preferred her release version too, I feel the tv spawns changing after springtrap with this version would be worth testing to see how it'd do now.
Also can we please get some QoL where survivors can still interact with events while her tape is in play? I'm not on about using standard items, but often she breaks events coz of it (I think this event you can't use portals while you have a tape). -

I had a similar experience as yours when Henry came out. I had no intention of buying him but I loved the red sky and audio cues, and the Henry Creel skin's voice lines, so I went for it. I'm on controller and so had never really tried a ranged killer and I knew I'd be bad, so maybe that helped, but for awhile I was sitting at a 55% KR yet still still having a blast. Every successful vine attack was a dopamine hit. Every World Breaker was an accomplishment. It was the first time in a long while that I was just having fun for fun's sake, even as my stats slightly dipped. It was probably the only time since the stat page came out and ruined my mindset that I didn't mind bad numbers.
Fast forward to now. The KR is higher; the fun is gone. The desire to not look like a crappy p100 is intense. I'm angrier than ever. Good survivors who prerun or are using more efficient hardware than me destroy me. I don't have killer anxiety, I don't care about tbagging, but I do have imposter syndrome. Playing both roles allows me to see that my opponenets on both sides are better than me. I'm in an MMR bracket I don't feel like I belong in for either role but my results are always above the goal (sowehow) and so it never goes down, and the stress never ends.
I dont know what the cure is. The solution is trying to do cool stuff without caring about winning, like you did, but it's easier said than done. The only time I really have fun in this game nowadays is in non-serious customs.
yeah its funny coz in event queue where there is no MMR I feel like I have much funner matches, the current mmr model is deffo the issue here.

Also, his crayon-fueled power hitbox going over three tiles and four walls needs to be adjusted heavily.
Lastly, old legion left click spam shouldn't be a thing. If you misclick while aiming your leap and you don't target a valid leap point, you loose your power. I think trying it without a fatigue first to get a feel is fine, but a fatigue as punishment for power misuse could be a possible nerf after my rework suggestions.
Add skill expression, remove uga buga crayon freebies.

Road Life will never be good when botany exists, they would need to remove all the downsides and it will still be not worth over it.
Place for us gives you elusive while healing, which in my opinion is also one of the worse perks. Bite the bullet hides all the noises and prevents perk like Coulrophobia from working. Elusive only adds anti aura which with aura perks being unpopular and staying still in one spot is pointless. Only somewhat usefull elusive is self-preservations and speaking of elusive it only does what other perks already do for years and they are not problematic. There are so many perks that give "elusive" without giving elusive and you don't see them because same as cross-axamination it's not as easy to lose line of sight.
What I would wish, because I love that perk is to make Extraordinary perception 2s rather than 4s or remove elusive and oblivious so the perk is much better at what it may does. Personally it will be a better still sight which again isn't even top half.
Road lifes issue isn't botany, it's the fact it stops working when you stop healing, if it were like we'll make it and a duration starting upon your next heal, it'd be much more effective.
Place for us is actually pretty useful for healing someone while someone else gets hooked etc, if you're lucky enough to get the obsession it can get a lot of value, I think removing the obsession requirement would make it much more useful.
Exactly, which is why Cross examination doesn't need nerfed.
Extra sensory being 2s, would really help it. -
A more tame one would be I think Last Stand should be earnable more than once for how long it takes
One I know will tilt people: Old dead hard would be fine versus modern killer design and I prefer facing it over current dead hards jank interactions (survivor falls on floor like they are downed then teleport| -
Road Life or whatever it's called, Last stand or generally all the walking dead perks bar Conviction.
Invocations
I think Tae Young is the first who isn't, also why is the elusive fine on that for everyone since it's "free for just healing" essentially.
Like it's the same on both sides atm, so many perks have been released undertuned and there has been no news on actually making them worth peoples time, this problem isn't exclusive to survivor.
Hopefully we get fun buffs to all these cool concepts, but Cross examination should be monitored by the team, if its not a problem currently there is no reason to change it -

There is no midchapter for real, the roadmap for this month confirmed it and on August 4th, we get the grimore chapter.
This is a huge disappointment since Mandy confirmed that release chapters will no longer have metagame changes, so we have to wait like six more months until we see some changes to killer, perks, and other stuff, if they stay to the statement.

Hexes are an issue with Jason, yeah, if we're narrowing the scope to just those builds I can see how people would get crows if they're not confident.
The solution there is to weaken his ability to monitor hexes though.
Exactly, I've never really had the issue versus normal Jason, especially now deputy's badge was bug fixed. It's just hex jason that's left for me. That and let me avoid OE with lockers too so I can actually use Head on again lol
-
Sorry for reviving this, does Exultation still not replenish max rarity items? If not, we really need to buff this perk to this suggestion
-
I don't mind her being buffed so long as tv spamako is nerfed, it's awful and boring to go against. Blockbuster simulator is the part I dislike most about her.
Maybe if her condemned was like less required but had a CD to any tv, it wouldn't be so annoying. That way its a buff for map pressure.
Ofc I'm not saying this is what should be changed, I just really dislike the blockbuster simulator sadakos and I really want to play against more stealth/jumpscare sadakos or chase sadakos. -
@jesterkind said:
Surely nobody is crouching enough in a Jason match to actually be getting crows?
You don't crouch all the time, you only crouch if you need to avoid him finding you at that moment. If you're in a solid position and the gen you're doing isn't as important comparatively, you wouldn't even bother letting go of that gen at all, just let him see you.
I think some people have got it in their heads the only way to counter Jason is to make sure he never sees you at all, but that's not really how it works. You CAN make sure he doesn't see you, IF you need the heat to be on someone else (injured on death hook, doing an important central gen, etc).
I got them the other day when a Hex Jason was keeping an eye on the first move and I was waiting for him to go on another survivor so I could have time to deal with his thrill hex.
It's the 2nd time I got crows vs a hex jason, they don't need to risk coming out of OE coz they get ruin value if no one is on gens, if someone is on a gen/totem then they get blood favor for p.much free.
OE is just not very interactive when used optimally. -

While I love getting long ranged shots of the poison, maybe it could be for the haste menu? two different powers for the other two perhaps.
If a poisoned morsel is added to the table, when the global buff is triggered, the killer gets a buff too, scaling with the proportion of poisoned meals added. Running around as temporarily invisible Bubba would be a fun reward for keeping on top of poison management, and make it so just throwing the poison in chase isn't the optimal choice in 99.9% of situations.
Like it's close to being a fun event for both sides, there is just glaring issues especially on killer side like Legion ruining the event for survivor (they just need a rework at this point) and the like.
Yeah, legitimately people are so quick to claim something is unsalvageable, then they entrench in this view and actively avoid acknowledging any elements that are fun.
My view on Legion is shifting quite a bit. I liked them for a while but I'm slowly getting enough hours to become sick of mending.
Plague basically switches the event off as well. The team heal is gone, making sitting on gens the best use of any survivor's time once again.
Yeah there exactly, that would be a fun way of rewarding the killer for interacting with the event <3
As for legion it's not that I dislike them, I used to main them infact and they have some of my fav horror icons like Robbie the rabbit and HUNK, I just think the 4 hit and self mend rework really killed their effectiveness vs SWFs (splitting up) and encouraged the boring never sleep pills builds casual players go for and the now iri button endfury builds too, They should work on a fundemental level and be interactive, not boring and frustrating for both sides.
And yeah the event has potential IMO to be way better than the masquerade, I love the lore themes and the horror vibe of it all. I'm enitrely with you -
Sorry I'm the person who keeps spamming Jake when someone plays Shane LOL
As for the leaving the game over survivor grunts lol I'm on the opposite side, I am okay for voices being replaced IF they are of higher quality, mainly Claire, she really needs a new one lol -

@zonkednb said:
This forum was an absolute mess when the event came out, with people being absolutely certain that the event favoured survivors to such a degree that the event was unplayable for killers. I'd say at least 50% of it was overblown.
It's a decent event, with some specific combinations that can be rough, such as rolling the unbreakable pallet meal when trying to play an M1 killer into a map with a lot of strong pallets. However, every single killer, M1 or not, got extremely strong anti-loop potential from the poison, which can hit directly or linger on a resource, all but guaranteeing a hit.
Spreading injuries/slugging doesn't work, but by focusing on getting quick downs in a single chase (made much easier by the poison), survivors are not going to get a decent value trade-off if they hold the 4th plate for a team heal, and most (not all) maps are laid out where getting a full table set to trigger the buff is a decent time investment, time spent not doing gens. The safety of a team-wide heal also seems to make survivors try to force value by body blocking, which yes, extends your chases, but also is a further example of survivors not being on gens.
It balances out, being disappointing for killers more due to lack of variety than the actual strength of survivors in the mode. Whether or not that results in a fun or frustrating event is a different debate and I'd say there's more steam there. The event absolutely can be twice as frustrating as the normal game, on both sides. I feel like the surge of public figures in the community decrying that the event super favours survivors has caused a lot of killers to uber-sweat, which makes the silly mode less fun.
Aesthetically, I like the event. The meals are suitable gruesome and the tables/dining carts ooze kitsch gothic horror. It's very cheesy and cute.
This is my first anniversary event, so I've not got much perspective on the cakes. I'll trust in the community on this one, though. It really feels like BHVR tried to limit the hell out of them and I'm not sure why.
The rewards aren't great though. Dwight looks great in a suit and the Huntress axe looks sick, but the masks are ugly and a great axe on Huntress is less great when it clashes with most of her cosmetics.
Overall, it's a 5/10 event. Not bad, but not great. The best part is the loading screen testimonials. They're very cute.Yeah exactly, there is a lot more of a focus on altruism which results on not very much gen pressure in most matches, sure I'd love more variety on killer side like maybe contributing to the tables yourself (so you can force the heal early and get benefits for yourself and points to foil the survs plans). having a power for each menu would definitely make the event on killer side have more variety. While I love getting long ranged shots of the poison, maybe it could be for the haste menu? two different powers for the other two perhaps.

Yeah, Chucky needs a buff; it would be better to bring back the "Scamper" ability he used to have. Chucky has lost the unique identity he originally possessed as a killer—it’s like The Shape suddenly being unable to use his stalking ability.
Yeah if scamper was too quick why didn't they just slow it down, that's what I don't understand? Why remove it entirely?

No build is 100% going to work. It's not the killer or the perks that get kills. It's the skill level of the killer and the survivors they are facing. One Pump Willie is a highly skilled killer. He devotes a lot of time to this game and tries to master killers other players ignore. You won't find many survivors capable of facing that kind of skill playing dbd today.
I am definitely not gonna dismiss that he is skillful, but a lot of skill comes from knowledge of the game too and while that should be rewarded BUT there are cases like old wiggle build in the likes of 3rd floor RPD that were a huge problem with boons set up etc.
All I'm saying is these videos are perfect for the balance team to study and see if there is anything that is glaring, not that it's always the case at all and this isn't specifically one pump willie either.
Sorry I wasn't meaning to downplay anyones skill at the game, more it's just a good opportunity to study. -

The devs dont seem to like to listen to content creators just look at the time they didnt listen to otz I think it was when they had that hacker problem with thd walking dead live stream game.
That's an entirely different issue to do with communication not being great IMO, nothing to do with a representatives of BHVR doing win streaks for clout when they are supposed to be advocating for a balanced game, instead capitalising on a really unbalanced build for streams and we hear nothing is wild.

The problem is the impact it has on both the public lobbies as well as on the playerbase's mindset.
- Popular content creators that go on winstreaks (don't want to name people because I don't feel safe to do so, but I think we all know which people I'm referring to) are good players with thousands of hours of experience. Now these people start to sweat. For multiple matches. This is horrendous to go against. Imagine playing against one of them on your afternoon. It's straight up slaughter for most lobbies. This btw. also means, that a majority of the games are total stomps. To conclude: they ruin majority of public matches by doing this.
- Because content creators are influences to some extent, their audience often feel inspired to attempt the same challenges for fun. Whether they have the required skills / knowledge. Now you have thousands of people ruining public lobbies by "optimizing" their gameplay to win as many games as possible.
Imo, stuff like winstreaks, as well as the comp scene, are a big part of why the game is as miserable to play as it is these days.
Can't really blame them though. They are just looking for a way to get attention / viewers.
I can blame them when they are literally on the balance council whose goal is to avoid situations like this.
This would have them removed in any other game -

i would say if there wasnt exhaustion every surv would be 2 blocks away by the time he could move after emerging lol
Almost like he isn't a RANGED killer.

honestly my issues rn are the sheer decline of quality team mates in solo Q since the play while you wait addition (which is great feature but killer players really showing how bad they are). That and the awfully overtuned killer releases recently.
Kaneki/Jason need changed, Krasue needs a sidegrade (nerf to her spit but buff to her head form to make her fun to play as and against).
Also can we please look at the big killer content creation scene fostering an incredibly unhealthy community in the game? Slugfests and win streaks need answered by the devs, not waiting and watching, like deal with hex jason
I'm really trying to be positive about the game, the game needs to be more forgiving on both sides. I really wish you'd all communicate more with us
Especially after "our most transparent year yet" statement, WHEN are we getting balance changes -

Old Cod games mostly insane players would go on long wining streaks and just stomp game after game having a hard game everh 30ish games
Fair enough if that's true, I've never seen it anything with teams etc however.
