Buff Sadako please...

Just give her Ringu drawing or TV speed basekit... i suffer so much as onryo main why can i have peaceful games like when i play with Jason 💔😭

  • I don't mind her being buffed so long as tv spamako is nerfed, it's awful and boring to go against. Blockbuster simulator is the part I dislike most about her.

Maybe if her condemned was like less required but had a CD to any tv, it wouldn't be so annoying. That way its a buff for map pressure.

Ofc I'm not saying this is what should be changed, I just really dislike the blockbuster simulator sadakos and I really want to play against more stealth/jumpscare sadakos or chase sadakos.

  • Either her condemned power has to be strengthened massively and her chase weakened (4.4 and no passive phasing) or her chase (passive phasing i guess) has to be strengthened and her condemned weakened (only exposed, but no mori).

In either case she has to get out of her hole.

  • Sadako is a second objective killer. She excels by putting survivors in a bad spot using her condemned mechanic. If used properly, she can become the most lethal hit and run killer in the entire game.

A lot of people don't like to use their head when playing though, so they just mindlessly chase survivors, when thats obviously not her strength.

Sadako is a decent c-tier killer. We worked hard to get where she is right now and I hope we won't go back to version 2.0

Although at this point, I wouldnt be surprised, as the playerbase seems to embrace powercreep and watered down gameplay these days.

Yeah, her stealth is honestly god awful because of that super directional, loud lullaby. She has no real chase power, and I personally never want her to get one because that’s just not the kind of killer she is. She’s unique in that her whole premise is making you worry about the curse you’ve been inflicted with, catching you out of position based on survivor location, and denying survivors their tapes while you manage TVs.

I get that ‘blockbuster simulator’ isn’t fun, sure – it’s not fun for the killer either or particularly rewarding with her current design. I think she needs buffs in the area of tapes not being basically free the first time you take them from a TV, since they’re supposed to be a cursed object. Her addons also really need a full rework, they’re truly awful right now. There have been multiple threads and even handwritten rework ideas for her addons that people have sent to the devs, so we’ll see. Blood Fingernails should honestly be basekit for her, and Ring Drawing should’ve been basekit when her new design launched.

I’m with you that TV spam / blockbuster simulator is miserable to play against, I just don’t think the answer is to push her more into that playstyle. I’d rather see her pressure and condemned tools made healthier and more rewarding so people feel encouraged to play her as a stealth/positioning/curse killer instead of chase down style. Better addons too.

as a sadako main, stealth is exactly the way to go for balancing her. her chase is fine for the most part, but her lullaby seriously ruins her chances at being a really scary stealth killer. either it needs to be removed or it needs to be decreased tremendously, im talking 12 meters down from 24, and if thats too much then im sure 16 would go a long way. spamako should be diminished, but honestly tping is a key part of her identity because your crawling out of TVs like the literal character, and so is condemn.

the condemn lock cap on hook should be removed, and we could look at adjusting the TV cooldown numbers to encourage survivors to turn off TVs to counter her map pressure. it really depends on the numbers imo, but my point is she should primarily be a scary stealth killer.

Yeah agreed. Keep the Lullaby. That isn't the issue. Its also Iconic from the movies. I dont want them to remove it. However, it needs to either be decreased OR massively increase. (Map Wide)

How about me let some of her absolutely horrendous addons tackle this problem?

As I already said in multiple Ptb feedback threads, a majority of Sadako's addons are downright awful. This is the result of bhvr only adjusting addons that stood out and completely ignoring those that barely saw any usage.

Like, come on guys. Oblivious against a killer that is almost always demanifested when played properly. Are you for real?

Make Ricky pinwheel reduce or massively increase the lullaby radius for example. Maybe have one addon reverse the lullaby, so that it gets quieter the closer she gets.

All ideas we suggested years ago.

  • When sadako came out she became my first main killer. Enjoyed her on/off stealth style and never really cared about condemning people. The stealth also worked better at the time as there was no visual heartbeat setting to show exactly how close she is.

When she was turned into spamako, i couldn't enjoy playing her anymore as playing against her was always spam rounds, so while playing as her i felt like avoiding teleporting to not be percieved as a spammer. I can still play her for the on/off stealth which im decent at, but i really have lost interest in her just because the spamako exists. If theres a way they can change her so the curse is more naturally occuring and not forced by the player, it would make her much more enjoyable for me. (And also if they removed luluby from effecting visual heartbeat)

That would be nice. That's why I like Midchapter. Its makes a nice little fresh shakeup for Characters we already have which need it greatly.

Hard Agree with the Lullaby removal and here's why:

    1. She's Loud- Everything she does; Breaking, pickup, Manifest, De-manifest, Teleporting, Locker Searching, attacking, etc, all come with very loud sounds that can be heard from 24m away at the bare minimum distance, and are all entirely directional. She's basically as loud as Demogorgon or Oni, and she doesn't need an early warning system on top of all that, its just overkill.
    2. Visual- Unlike any other "stealth killers", while short in stature, she's still easy as hell to spot when De-manifested due to her phasing in and out every 1.5 seconds. While that has a limited range of 24m, and if she's any further you don't see her phasing, it still gives survivors plenty of chances to see her coming, even more-so than Wraith ever did.
    3. M1 Killer- Lullaby Radiuses make perfect sense on Ranged killers who can snipe you from a distance because it gives survivors an early warning that while they may not be close, you're still in the "Danger Zone". An M1 killer however only has a danger zone at a maximum of the 2m basic attack range, so unless they give her a 24m dashslop attack range, or a ranged attack she can only use while de-manifested, giving survivors 22m of warning is just so…
    4. Stupid. What is the point of a killer having a Stealth ability if they're gonna Announce to all the survivors that they are currently in stealth mode? Remember the Horrendous Ghost Face PTB? They gave him a 20m directional Spooky wind sound every time he went into his Night Shroud mode, and EVERYONE, from streamers, Killer Mains, Survivor mains to Casual Forum and Reddit Posters, Lambasted the Devs on that decision. Fortunately the devs got the message and Removed it for GF, but then, sigh… They pull the same crap with Sadako! You'd think they would've learned their lesson, but no, you really can't underestimate these devs when it comes to making really stupid design decisions.
    5. Visual TR. Meant to help the Hard of Hearing, but used by every survivor player I know, the Visual TR is great, or at least it would be, if it only showed the Terror Radius. Unfortunately, for poor little Sadako, They also made it apply to Lullaby Radiuses, so no matter how subtle, or difficult to hear her LR may be, Survivors have a Visual Notification whenever she's nearby in her De-manifested State.
    6. Undetectable Perks = Useless. The devs, in their "wisdom", decided that they'd tie her LR to the undetectable status rather than her De-manifested State, so you can't even subvert the LR by using perks and ignoring her De-manifest power! They've also done something similar to Chucky, wherein anytime he's undetectable, the little turd won't shut the hell up, but at least for chucky, his giggle fits can only be heard from 12m and don't activate any visual TR effect. Sadako would KILL for such a luxury.
    7. Teleportation is no Excuse. Yeah, she can jump around the map faster than the majority of other killers, but so what? It still makes a global noise when she does it, and the TV she TP's to Loudly Announces her Arrival to every survivor within 16m! If that wasn't enough, it also Visually Flickers more rapidly and lights up the Area it's in! You can't explain away her NEED for a Lullaby by arguing that she's a High Mobility killer, Even after they brought her from 4.4 to 4.6m/s, she still needs to close distance after Teleporting to get a basic attack. If you took away her Lullaby, that's still not going to give her any significant advantage because in order for her to make use of a Stealth + Teleport combo she has to: Teleport without being seen or heard by nearby survivors, Loudly De-manifest without being noticed to enter stealth, Sneak up without being seen, and loudly Manifest to attempt a hit! Mind you, Unlike Wraith, she doesn't get a speed boost after Manifesting, so survivors still lead her on a decent chase before she gets a smack in!
    8. Insta-Kill Potential is also no Excuse. Jason can Teleport, Use Stealth, and Insta-Kill just fine, with far less setup requirements than Sadako, and While they have no Teleports or Mobility, so can Pyramid Head, and Myers (Shape) who predate Sadako's release. Not only do they have less requirements, but their conditions for Insta-Kill are also either Impossible, or at least, very difficult to remove, again unlike poor Sadako, who only requires that a tape be put into a TV before she catches you. Removing Lullaby Might give her a slim advantage here when pursuing or intercepting a condemned survivor, but lets be honest… As noisy and noticeable as she is, It's not going to "break" her in the slightest.

I'm tired now, and while I can keep going on and on with stuff like how the lack of actual stealth, anti-loop, and M1 have lead Sadako players to forget entirely about traditional chasing for the sake of hooking, and feel forced to only go for condemn kills, but lets just put this to rest here… Bottom Line:

The Lullaby has got to go! It won't Break her, it won't put her anywhere near the level of Nurse, Ghoul, or Blight, and it won't remove any "fair warning" from her noisy little ass; all it will do is correct a stupid design choice the devs made, and hopefully ingrain the lesson they should've learned 3 years prior to her release from the Ghost Face PTB Debacle:

"Lullaby's do NOT belong on M1 Stealth Killers."

  • Changes I would like to see:

→ TVs no longer spread condemned, have shorter cooldown when turned off by both sides serving purely as map traversal

→ Spectral strike inflicts one condemned stack, two if survivor is holding tape

→ When fully condemned survivors suffer exposed and oblivious

→ Minimum permanently attached stacks when hooked is 4 (if survivors have them or more)

→ Increase both invisibility durations and frequency

    → Remove lulabby

    Those changes would make:

→ Playing Onryo more than just spamming TVs, especially frustrating on indoor maps

→ reward for using powers as well as giving some in kit antiloop

→ Making fully condemned survivor an easier prey to hunt down

    → Making tapes more deadly

→ Making Onryo more stealth orientated

They could keep the sound effect of the lullaby by making it audible to survivors at differing intensities based on the number of condemned stacks that they have. This would thematically repurpose the sound effect into a warning rather than being a sign that Sadako is nearby. Essentially, this would fully remove the lullaby from Sadako and allow her to be stealthy while keeping the cool sound effect that the lullaby has.

→ Making Onryo more stealth orientated

You do know, that the stare - mori is arguably one of the most iconic things about sadako, right?

How much of a characters identity must we sacrifice on the altar of optimization? Was Myers not enough?

  • You all do realize, that "spamming" tvs and strategically condemning survivors is not the same, right? It might look like it sometimes but it's not. Spamming results in the Sadako - player losing out on tvs they could need in specific scenarios. Strategically using them based on the cooldown timing might sometimes look like spamming, but works entirely different, as tvs aren't chosen at random.

A Spammer shoots themselves in the foot if survivors pay a bit of attention. A strategic player doesn't.

Not everything has to be turned into the same chase - down - hook - sacrifice design. There are very few killers that actually work differently and that's a good thing. (It might actually just be Pig and Sadako at this point).

I really feel like we are back when she first dropped and people tried to force her to be something she clearly wasn't. They then failed and called her trash just because she actually required more effort and a different style of play to be successful. And no. I'm not talking about ring drawing / iri tape slugging.

I don't mind her being buffed so long as tv spamako is nerfed, it's awful and boring to go against.

I would love to see them buff her a bit and go back to how she was closer to release where it was single target condemn from 1 TV compared to map wide, and make old Iri-tape partially or completely basekit among other things.

Regarding the current teleport spamming, Onryo mains TV spamming is a direct result of how BHVR reworked her power and counterplay. With the current version of her survivors have no downsides to grabbing tapes but get significant rewards. The rewards being that they are no longer threatened by condemn and that they disable her mobility into that zone for over a minute.

Onryo has essentially no chase power so she relies heavily on her condemn pressure and mobility to win games. With the counterplay being so easy for survivors and being no risk and all reward, they can just grab a tape, hold onto it while doing the gen, and when it is finished go to the next gen and repeat.

This means that Onryo generally HAS to spam teleport to control the TVs to deny tape pickups and spread condemn the moment they turn on. If you let survivors get tapes and turn off TVs, you lose a ton of pressure. As mentioned, if they get tapes at the start before you can turn the TVs off, they will just sit on gens without any risk and remove the few stacks you manage to build up without any risk. "Spamming" teleport, especially at the start, in order to turn of specific TVs is just the best move for Onryo a lot of the time. Onryo needs to control her TVs and the flow of the match, if survivors take that away from her, she is significantly weakened.

Personally I much prefer her release version. Release Onryo was different in that Onryo's had to be very specific with their teleports to get value and survivors had a risk and reward to turning off or interacting with TVs. Survivors could either deny Onryo's mobility, or risk condemn compared to now where they deny condemn pressure AND mobility. The risk and reward was much more balanced and Onryo didn't have to tp spam as a result. Forgive my rambling here but I just am not a fan of how BHVR reworked Onryo. Was better when you had focus condemn and actually had to hit survivors to turn TVs back on, rather than now where Onryo is able to ignore them most of the time until they can down one with a red circle.

I'm still very upset with BHVR over what they did to Myers. They should have offered anyone who bought Myers a refund given how badly they butchered his power.

  • I miss playing sadako 1 a lot, but unpopular opinion I didn't mind facing Sadako 2 just for the variety. She really shouldn't just be left the way she is right now

  • For anything of this to happen we need a Midchapter.

  • Poor Sadako. She's one of the hardest killers to play consistently and for all that effort she's only like C-tier.

  • My idea since forever was to make old newspaper and reikos watch basekit, so that she has a viable basekit chase, and that survivors holding tapes have their bonuses neutralized, and cant be affected by any bonuses that way there's an actual downside to having a CURSED tape

Yeah exactly, it's also why I don't play her rn coz I don't want to have to play that way to feel like I'm using her power, she really needs some love to make her more enjoyable to play as and also not irritating for both sides when the counterplay is utilized. I don't fault Sadakos for doing this since it's the only way to get condemn value rn.

Yeah I also preferred her release version too, I feel the tv spawns changing after springtrap with this version would be worth testing to see how it'd do now.

Also can we please get some QoL where survivors can still interact with events while her tape is in play? I'm not on about using standard items, but often she breaks events coz of it (I think this event you can't use portals while you have a tape).
