If BHVR has any sense, they will at least archive the forums here it so others can read what was here even if people cannot post anymore.
There is a vast wealth of information on here as well as a wonderful time capsule of DBD and BHVR history.
A company like BHVR absolutely should be able to maintain this history at the very least. Though they should also be able to keep the forum open for those who use it as their suggested "alternatives" are hardly alternatives or a proper replacement for the discussions that occurred here. All I know is that I'm going to be complaining about this decisions for years to come on ever survey they make if they don't at least save the forum for viewing.

Probably not. It's a shame. I enjoyed sharing my thoughts. I am really…really going to miss seeing everyone names and "Faces" (Profile Pics) on the forums. :(
Same. These forums were a great place to discuss dbd. Can't get the same vibe elsewhere.
Shoutout to all those Onryo mains who fought hard to try and stop BHVR from ruining Onryo over the course of 2 reworks, as well as making suggestions for how to balance and fix her. I enjoyed all the discussions we had even if there were disagreements.

I used the official forums to engage in deep discussions with other users and post my own, as well as help share feedback to the devs. To me it is the perfect place for more series discussions about the game.
I used reddit to engage in community memes and give short thoughts and responses to things. I know the devs are on reddit and reading things, but I don't see it as a good place to post feedback for the devs to read or consider since so much is buried or ignored in favor of memes. reddit cannot replace the forums for me as such.
I absolutely refuse to treat discord like a forum. Discord is not designed to function as a forum in the slightest and in no way can replace the role of a forum adequately. I will not even consider going there.
I don't think Steam discussions are a good replacement either but it is certainly better alternative than discord.
-
Discord is a horrible replacement for the forums. In no way should discord be the official way to interact or give feedback to the devs. Having any sort of support staff or forum on a platform that cannot be searched online is ridiculous. No idea why so many companies and devs are using it when it is absolutely awful for people actually trying to solve problems. It just results in people asking the same questions over and over since they can't just do a simple google search and have the forum give them the answer.
Reddit is okay but of course users are at the whims on the moderators and Reddit staff. Also not a great place for feedback since there are no categories and so many posts get buried by memes, or people asking the same question over and over since they never see the other posts on the same topic as they are buried due to not having upvotes.
I just see this as a horrible decisions on BHVR's part. These forums were great for having actual conversations and discourse with others players. I feel like the other platforms will be much less interesting and engaging for actual discussions. I feel like it was much more common to see higher quality feedback and concerns from other users here than the other platforms.
Also just for extra emphasis because it really needs to be said and understood, Discord is NOT a good forum!!

I love the Tome Archives as well and would hate to see them go. I've done all the challenges already but I remember how satisfying it was to cross them all off.
However, I can imagine the resources that BHVR spends making sure they all work from patch to patch, which is why I assume they want to get rid of them.
I think a good compromise would be to just lock all past Tomes from being progressed when a new ones comes out. That was completionists can still see their progress but BHVR doesn't have to maintain them. Also add new challenges for the new Tomes that are actually hard because the quest system is awful. These new challenges could also be locked when a new Tome comes out for the same reasons.
In case a BHVR dev reads this, Tome challenges were a million times more fun and engaging than the new quest system. Tracking your progress and finishing Tomes one by one was super satisfying and a great way to keep me playing the game. The new quests I just ignore.

We don't have an end date to share at this time. In the meantime, though, what are your initial thoughts? Any feedback?
My thoughts are you should either give us an end date or end the trial. Missing a week of DBD over this is one thing. Missing 2v8 is something else.
It is incredibly frustrating that you are doing this to Steam users. Almost feels like a punishment since we all know the majority of cheaters are on Epic Games. Denuvo is causing many players countless problems and silence on this matter makes it feel like BHVR doesn't care about us.
Cheating is DBD is a problem that needs to be addressed certainly, but rather than switching to a problematic anti-cheat like Denuvo, please just stick with EAC and then with the upcoming rebuild of the game add server side validation. Server side validation would be much better at catching and stopping cheaters than EAC or Denuvo ever could be. Especially catching subtle cheaters which are the worst. Punishing players by switching to a worse performing anti-cheat is not a good solution compared to server side checks.
I am with others in not playing DBD till this trial is over. How long it goes on for will be something I will consider when it comes to deciding whether or not to buy a new skin or character when they come out. No point in spending money in a game I can't play. I haven't felt this much against giving BHVR money since the horrific Walking Dead chapter release and controversies.
-
Adding the 2v8 system would be great for a casual mode, but I absolutely do not want it in standard 1v4.
If they split 1v4 into casual and ranked then as said, it would be fine in just the casual mode. Honestly it might be the best way to keep the casuals in the casual queue and the rest in the ranked one. No one trying their hardest to win is going to want to enter the casual queues where doing well makes you do worse and vice versa. A Blight main playing with their family on the line isn't going to tolerate losing a match because they did so well the last survivors could finish the gens super fast.
-
1 post on an account made today. Maybe a bit tinfoil hat but this post is so ridiculously positive given there is no possible way anyone would be able to tell if the number of cheaters is less than before within the first 12 hours. Especially odd given it is their first post.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone told me OP works for Denuvo.

unless you uninstalled before today it is already on your machine. I woke mine out of sleep and the files were there
I have auto-update off so I should be fine. Steam still says DBD needs to update. When I saw the update yesterday I decided to not install it just in case it was for this. I would be pretty upset if it just installed itself onto my PC without my permission.
-
My feedback is that I won't play DBD until Denuvo is gone. I have no intention of putting their software on my computer. I have heard far too many negative things about them to consider letting them have access to my PC. Really sucks that I can't play or progress the rift for a week or so. Can't wait for this trial to be over so I can play again.
If BHVR really wants to deal with cheating, server side validation would be nice. Switching from EAC to Denuvo won't do much but server validation would catch players doing actions that are impossible in standard gameplay or doing actions faster than they should given things like perks.
-
I don't play him much myself but it is a real shame for those who main him. I hope he gets fixed for all of you. Been missing him as survivor too.

@Mandy said:
Given the nature of the trial we are not disclosing the exact length of it.
I'm sorry that you do not think this is a useful test in any way.
Ridiculous.
I deeply appreciate BHVR's effort and desire to try and tackle the cheating problem in this game, but this is not it. Server side checks for things like impossible movement speeds would be much more effective. Forcing players to install an intrusive software like Denuvo just to play dbd for a trial that is only on steam feels wrong. I'm not against anti-cheat software for DBD and it helping remove cheaters but not Denuvo.
Most of the cheaters are on Epic Games and have extra throw away accounts, as such this is where the trial really should be tested. Now myself and many others are going to be left waiting not able to play the game or participate in quests in order to level the rift. If you are willing to disclose when you are going to start the trial, why not tell us when it ends. Even if you don't want to say in advance, please at least drop a message on socials like reddit and stuff when it will be okay for us to update and play the game again.
I refuse to use Denuvo on my computer after everything I've heard about them. So knowing when I will be able to play the game again would be really nice. It is frustrating that cheaters playing on Epic will be just fine, meanwhile I have to avoid the game over this for an unspecified amount of time.
-
@Mr_K said:
We moved from P2P to dedicated servers with one of the promises being better cheater detection. Clearly that hasn't been the case. Instead of wasting time on another ring 0 anti-cheat that gets bypassed, why not look into validating what the player is doing from the server's perspective? The server should be the source of truth to all players. If a player does something impossible it should be immediately flagged and investigated.
It is baffling BHVR hasn't decided to do this yet. Maybe its because their game is so buggy many innocent players would be incorrectly banned due to bugs if it was not lenient.
I can only hope with the games rebuild that BHVR will implement some sort of system for this though, assuming the game will not have horrible code. The server should be able to recognize that a killer using their attack instantly over and over, downing all survivors within the first minute is cheating. The server should be able to tell that a survivor is running faster than they should be able to based on perks etc. The server should be able to detect when a survivor escapes the trial before the hatch or gates are powered.
Rather than forcing players to install another intrusive anti-cheat software like Denuvo, it would be much better if BHVR just made it so the game itself could detect and tell when things are out of place based on what is and isn't possible. Wouldn't solve all the problems but would certainly be better than just switching to another anti-cheat software.
-
Between all of this, the recently changed cosmetic and character selection UI, and the charms selection and search bar overlapping, my best feedback for BHVR would be to fire the person in charge of making these decisions over the games menu UI and hire someone actually competent at their job.

I would seriously hope so. Myers' rework had to be one of the worst reworks they have ever done. Yeah he is stronger now but in exchange they completely ruined his identity and all the unique gameplay around him.
Stalking feels like a joke due to how easy it is to build up. When playing against Myers most of the time trying to avoid stalk feels pointless since he gets it basically instantly. When playing as Myers I don't even feel like I have to hide my approaches anymore like before to get good stalking angles, just need to walk up to them like any other killer and with a small amount of chase time I can just instant down them.
As a result he is probably one of the most boring killers to play as and against right now. Sure he is stronger but I'd rather have a killer that is fun to play than strong.
BHVR should fully revert Myers to his previous state, and then make the following changes.
- Remove Tombstone Piece add-on and make it function like the rework Myers for those who enjoyed it. This removes the broken aspect of Tombstone while appeasing those who like the rework.
- Make it so Myers cannot run out of stalk.
- Make it so survivors cannot be Tombstoned when having the Endurance status effect. If Myers tries to Tombstone and the survivor has Endurance, then he swings instead and hits the survivors, putting the survivor into Deep Wound. This swing animation would have the same cooldown as a regular attack. This means Tombstone has counterplay. As a result:
- Survivors cannot be camped and moried off hook.
- Survivors can Dead Hard Tombstone if they time it right. This would give them a bit of extra time to try abd reach a interactable object in order to force a hook, as is the standard counterplay.
- Make it so that a survivor has to have at least X amount of stalk in order to be Tombstoned
- This means a survivor cannot get surprised Tombstoned out of nowhere due to another survivor feeding him stalk. The amount of X is up to discussion and balance. I'd go with maybe 30-40% but I can see even 90-100% being fine as well.
This would bring back old Myers while also removing the aspects of old Myers that some survivors and Myers players did not like. It would provide a good baseline and then BHVR could give future QoL buffs going forward and not just completely rework him.

Don't remove the instant down or reduce how much Oni is in power. These are the fun things about Oni and why people play Oni. No one wants to be m1 Oni.
The best way to nerf Oni in 2v8 is to just nerf how well he turns. Nerfing his ability to turn would give survivors some real counterplay to him other than go down in 99% of scenarios without having to reduce the availability of his power or taking away his threatening instant downs.
-
What is there to compromise on. Anon mode works fine. If someone is cheating, griefing, or other reportable behavior, then just report them like anyone else.
While there are some people who try to hide behind anon mode to be toxic, most just use it to avoid people stalking their profiles and leaving hateful messages or trying to contact them to be hateful.
The only thing anon mode does it make it so you personally can't contact them, so it is a bit odd that people are hung up on this if they aren't planning on harassing people themselves.
However, there is one part of the current system that feels one-sided.
A player using Anonymous Mode can still see the usernames and profiles
of players who are not using Anonymous Mode, while those players cannot
see the username or profile of the person using Anonymous Mode. How is this at all unfair or one sided? If you don't want to be seen, just use anon mode yourself. If you don't mind being seen, then don't use it. I fail to see how this is somehow a problem.
If you don't mind being seen then why you are bothered by this. And if you don't want to be seen but don't use anon mode, well I would advise you just enable the feature BHVR gives you.
The system is fair, everyone has access to it if they want to use it, and no one can hide behind it to avoid perm or temp bans from cheating or harassing other players.
That being said, if BHVR did add a feature that players can enable to be anonymous only to other players using anon mode, as a sort of way for players to protect themselves from a misguided belief that anon players are all toxic, then I would be perfectly fine with it. That would be a real compromise.

I don’t think he should be completely removed but his curving ability while in his power definitely needs to be nerfed. He should not have infinite turn radius around all obstacles like he does now. Survivors need to at least have some counterplay using obstacles to try to counter his power.
Completely agree. Oni being constantly in power is only an issue because of how hard it is for survivors to counter him in power. He just turns too well in 2v8.
I believe Oni players would also be happier being in power more often with less turning ability, than keeping their turning ability but having significantly less access to their power, which would be the only other way to balance him in 2v8. Simply put, killers want to use their power as being in power is fun, so BHVR should nerf the turn radius as a priority.
If BHVR nerfs Oni's turn radius, most of the issues with Oni in 2v8 will go away.

That crows are removed when you go into a locker is absolute bs, she is only B tier (so not very strong as you say she is), this feature makes her less appealing for players to learn how to play her (very low pick rate) and she has a high skill floor to not have trouble downing the survivors (even that doesn't really help in high MMR) so she does need a buff, many killers have better chase power than her (take less time to down the survivor and much easier to use) and some of them also have mobility unlike her so her getting a small buff shouldn't be an issue, she is not going to go up to A tier after this.
It is bs and only got worse when they added the extra lockers for Dredge.
Every time I see people arguing that there need to be more lockers for Dredge (which Dredge does need tbf), I think about how it is going to also hurt Artist.
BHVR just needs to make it so if survivors go into lockers with crows, it protects them from snipes but the survivor also needs to stay in the locker for 8 seconds (the duration it would normally take to remove a swarm), otherwise the survivor gets reswarmed when they leave the locker. Just have a vfx of the birds waiting outside the locker for 8 seconds before they disappear to remove any confusion survivors might have about how long they need to wait.

Killers complaining about survivors prolonging game by teabaging in exit gate and survivors complaining about killers prolonging game for 4k
Both are bad and annoying. Getting slugged as survivor for the 4k is objectively worse from an enjoyment perspective though.
A killer can force them out of the gate allowing them to start a new match. Usually they don't even have to look at the survivors if they don't want to. Survivors sticking around to t-bag at the gates is super annoying but the killer still has agency and control over it.
A survivor is just stuck in the match until the killer either finds the other survivor or they bleed out over 4 minutes. The survivors has little to no control over it and just has to wait it out in a game that is already over and decided.
Granted there are valid reasons for slugging for the 4k, like if you see the other survivor or are doing an adept or some other achievement. In these scenarios I have no issue with the killer slugging for the 4k, and would say by far survivors sitting at the gate waiting to t-bag are worse by comparison. But many killers slug for the 4k just so they can say they won harder, while making it miserable for survivors.
So outside of a few scenarios I'd say slugging for the 4k is much worse. Which is why so much discussion seems to revolve around fixing the 4k slug issue and not the gate t-bag issue.
-
I'd rather BHVR spend their time developing game modes that are unique to DBD, like 5v5 or VIP. Prop hunt is already in a ton of other games, people can just play prop hunt in those games if they want to play prop hunt.
Maybe add it down the road if they are out of ideas, but right now there are much better and more interesting game modes BHVR can work on.
-
They need to add a voice line toggle, especially if they are going to add new voice lines to older killers and survivors. After playing Meg all these years, the last thing I want is for them to add some random voice to her. It would just feel unnatural. BHVR also better not redo their screams and injury sounds like they did for Steve.
Voice line toggle just makes sense at this point. It lets people play characters they like without having to worry about how they sound. A toggle to shut ghoul up would be so nice for example.
-
Reworking a killer just because they are weak or have a low pick rate is not the answer. Its a slap to the face for those who main and love her. Not all killers need to appeal to the general playerbase. As @SoGo mentioned, just look at Myers for what BHVR thinks is a good killer rework. They'd just butcher Hag like Myers making her boring and they'd probably call it a win because more people are interested in a reworked killer than the old one.
Hag just needs some QoL and maybe a way to make it harder for survivors to just remove her web when she is out hooking.

I'm not a survivor main, but it's only one second lost at 50% haste, so it's 6 meters of travel distance lost per instance of Sprint Burst.
Thanks for the info. Seems like it will still be decent for pre-running or 99ing in chase but not soul crushing for non-mobility / m1 killers as it currently can be.

Any survivors mains out there able to give a frame of reference for how much distance is lost in that 1 sec being removed? Feels like a bit too much of a nerf but even though I use SB somewhat frequently I have no idea how hard this will hit it.

my main thing is that it’s sitting badly because it’s the first iteration, so of course it has flaws, but there seriously hasn’t been a balance patch since then. my second thing is that i think it’s way too punishing to the point of just diminishing fun builds entirely.
i think the numbers should absolutely be tuned, instead of the current: 1st - 100%, 2nd - 50%, 3rd - 25%, 4th - 12.5%, 5th+ - 5% |||| it should be this instead: 1st - 100%, 2nd - 80%, 3rd - 60%, 4th - 40%, 5th+ - 20%.
but at the same time, for all i know, perks could just be being affected way too heavily so they may just need individual buffs (not like they haven’t needed them anyway).
Changing how harsh the effects are would help. I would go even further and say that different things like Haste, Hindered or Vault Speed, should all have their own category of Diminishing Returns and have different rates. For example, Haste or gen speed can be more severe but fun stuff like Skill Checks or Vault Speed could have a more gradual start to how much they diminish.
Regarding the posts main question. I hate Diminishing Returns. As mentioned by others all it did was kill build variety but left the meta as is so basically all I see is meta now.
-
Alternatively, remove Diminishing Returns and then nerf luck offerings

I see most myers using the tuft of hair addon to try and make it as close as possible to before. And i miss playing as sadako before she became spamako, I think people enjoyed playing against her back then too. That visual heartbeat turning her luluby into a terror radius sure did a number on her stealth. @Skitten56 she was probably the first killer i felt like dedicating points to, as i mostly played survivor back then.
I miss release Onryo as well. If they just gave her those QoL number buffs to TVs and stuff but kept her base gameplay the same, it would have been perfect. Maybe even make release Iri-tape part basekit. Her 2nd rework is serviceable but I deeply miss release Onryo. Visual Heartbeat hurts her so much as well.
I feel so bad for all those old Myers mains that are now trying to use Tuff of Hair to get just a fraction of how he used to feel. BHVR screwed up his rework so bad. Hopefully someday we can get through to them a get him a 2nd rework like Onryo.
-
I'd save the totem defending suggestion for a new Hex perk they can add later.
I'd rework Hex: Huntress Lullaby instead by making it so skill checks are silent from the first token, or at the very least reduce the amount of tokens needed for skill check audio to be suppressed. Then maybe increase the penalty to 7% to give it a bit more relevancy.
For a Hex perk, there is no reason in my mind why you have to hook 5 survivors just to suppress skill checks, especially given the penalty effect isn't that good outside of new player lobbies. And lets be real, new players are not going to win any less or more just because a new killer is running this perk, so its not a good excuse for why it can't be buffed.
-
Since the Myers rework, I've been asking for them to undo the Myers rework, or at least putting his new power as old Tombstone Piece add-on and restoring everything else as it was before. Tombstone not working on Endurance would be a fine adjustment on return as well.
Before that I would ask for BHVr to look at Onryo's add-ons that make no sense anymore with her power rework. Sea-Soaked Cloth and Rickety Pinwheel function the opposite of what they should given that survivors will always have TVs off now instead of leaving them on like release Onryo. I beg BHVR to make it so those add-ons are activated instead by deactivated TVs instead of active ones. It is so obvious to anyone that is familiar with her power but BHVR just leaves these add-ons practically useless.
-
Locker thing is the biggest change I'd make. Survivors hate it when she zones them at loops but if they constantly remove birds the moment them get them from snipes, then she has no choice but to use them at loops. Getting rid of the ability to remove swarms from lockers or at least introduce a downside to it would be the best change for both sides.
I would love to see BHVR make it so the birds stay outside the locker for 8 seconds and reswarm the survivor if they leave beforehand. It takes 8 seconds to remove birds normally so I feel this is fair. Survivors would be protected from damaging shots in the locker still while the swarm waits outside, so they can safely remove birds at range. However, now they would have to spend some of their time to do it at least so it would provide Artist with some slowdown. And if they don't go in the lockers to keep moving while removing swarms, then Artist can now try for snipes.

You do know, that the stare - mori is arguably one of the most iconic things about sadako, right?
How much of a characters identity must we sacrifice on the altar of optimization? Was Myers not enough?
I'm still very upset with BHVR over what they did to Myers. They should have offered anyone who bought Myers a refund given how badly they butchered his power.

I don't mind her being buffed so long as tv spamako is nerfed, it's awful and boring to go against. Blockbuster simulator is the part I dislike most about her.
Maybe if her condemned was like less required but had a CD to any tv, it wouldn't be so annoying. That way its a buff for map pressure.
Ofc I'm not saying this is what should be changed, I just really dislike the blockbuster simulator sadakos and I really want to play against more stealth/jumpscare sadakos or chase sadakos.I would love to see them buff her a bit and go back to how she was closer to release where it was single target condemn from 1 TV compared to map wide, and make old Iri-tape partially or completely basekit among other things.
Regarding the current teleport spamming, Onryo mains TV spamming is a direct result of how BHVR reworked her power and counterplay. With the current version of her survivors have no downsides to grabbing tapes but get significant rewards. The rewards being that they are no longer threatened by condemn and that they disable her mobility into that zone for over a minute.
Onryo has essentially no chase power so she relies heavily on her condemn pressure and mobility to win games. With the counterplay being so easy for survivors and being no risk and all reward, they can just grab a tape, hold onto it while doing the gen, and when it is finished go to the next gen and repeat.
This means that Onryo generally HAS to spam teleport to control the TVs to deny tape pickups and spread condemn the moment they turn on. If you let survivors get tapes and turn off TVs, you lose a ton of pressure. As mentioned, if they get tapes at the start before you can turn the TVs off, they will just sit on gens without any risk and remove the few stacks you manage to build up without any risk. "Spamming" teleport, especially at the start, in order to turn of specific TVs is just the best move for Onryo a lot of the time. Onryo needs to control her TVs and the flow of the match, if survivors take that away from her, she is significantly weakened.
Personally I much prefer her release version. Release Onryo was different in that Onryo's had to be very specific with their teleports to get value and survivors had a risk and reward to turning off or interacting with TVs. Survivors could either deny Onryo's mobility, or risk condemn compared to now where they deny condemn pressure AND mobility. The risk and reward was much more balanced and Onryo didn't have to tp spam as a result. Forgive my rambling here but I just am not a fan of how BHVR reworked Onryo. Was better when you had focus condemn and actually had to hit survivors to turn TVs back on, rather than now where Onryo is able to ignore them most of the time until they can down one with a red circle.
-
It is very survivor sided if survivors know how to take advantage of it. I'm fine with BHVR having an event game mode where each side has 2016 level op stuff again, as there are lot so fun things to do as survivor.
But BHVR needs to give such tools to killer as well. Poison is not enough. Like if we poison a table with x amount of plates on it, we should get powers like map wide exposed for 60 seconds or instant hooking options. Let killers have interactive fun things they can do as well please.
-
Pig power with the right add-ons can play around most pallets. Last thing I want is to be vacuumed into breaking the pallet when I could have gotten a hit or down instead. Pig doesn't need this, buffs should be elsewhere if she gets them.

Rarely does not mean never… this was a good example of something being blatantly not designed well.
Like??? No, unsurprisingly survivors should not be rewarded with… the strongest status effect in the game, that is like 4 perks combined into one for just looping the killer like normal?
This should not be a hot take to anyone who is sane and not just trying to have a broken poorly designed perk for their own benefit.
Completely agree. Perk in its PTB state was absolutely busted. The chase requirement was an absolute must.
Elusive as a status effect is super strong and it should only really be used for anti-tunnel perks. BHVR for some reason seems to just want to throw it on perks now whether it makes sense or not. A Place for Us completely outshining Bite the Bullet was a bit silly for example.
-
Flashlight/Torch saves mostly I'd imagine.
They should remove the requirement for being in the killers Terror Radius due to the nerf they gave it though. That way it can at least be useful if the killer has undetectable. A reasonable buff since the perk is very weak now.
-
Instead of trying to make the game worse, why do we just remove Diminishing Returns and return to a time when there was a reason to not run meta and fun builds were at least somewhat useful.
-
Still can't believe BHVR nerfed perks like STBFL and Sloppy that basically only helped the weaker m1 killers. Absolutely ridiculous decisions made with those changes.

Out of curiosity, not to be rude (as tone is very hard to pick up on the forums)
Why do you hold the opinion that he's fun to play, while also determining that you just accept the memo that you lose a lot as survivor? I just find that phrasing a bit odd.
That's like me saying, I enjoy playing as such and such killer but I just accept that each trial I just lose.
Or something I guess would be a complete mirror to what you said: it's fun to play survivor, but when I play Demogorgon I just accept that I will just lose therefore survivor needs some adjustments?
I enjoy playing him. I think he is a bit overtuned atm so I don't expect to win as survivor. In short I expect he will be nerfed in some aspects so I'm just mentally writing off all the loses against him as survivor I suppose. Even though I'm losing way more as survivor than normal, I still have fun trying to bait and dodge the projectile, or make fun and interesting plays against him.
As Jason, I'm not sweating and trying hard to win like when I play Onryo or Artist, I just bring a casual build and play him. I find he is strong enough that I can do well without meta builds so I run what is more fun. Everything about him feels very streamlined and fluid, like not having to reload at lockers feels great on the killer side for example, so this adds to how enjoyable he is to play. Though I do think this aspect of him needs to be nerfed as it power creeps the heck out of all the other range killers. Basically, I believe he needs nerfs, but I can still enjoy the aspects of him that are enjoyable before they happen. Also getting hits with his projectile is very satisfying.
To answer your question simply, for me as survivor my fun in the game isn't just walking out the gate, but the interactions along the way make it fun. Same with killer, I don't mind losing as long as there were some good chases and mind-games I was able to pull off. Easy 4ks are no fun at all compared to tense games that go down to the last gen. Jason is fun in his simplicity as a killer so I can run meme builds, and when facing him I don't have to stress about winning since in soloq since he is destroying it right now so I just focus on dodging his power and trying to extend chases which is still enjoyable. I feel like I wrote too much but hopefully that clarifies and properly answers your question.

Idk about boring. He is very fun to play and although I lose a lot as survivor, as long as I don't have any expectation of winning he is fun to go against for the most part.
That being said, he absolutely does need some adjustments.
His reload should not be as free as it is for one thing. All other range killers are 4.4 and have a lengthy reload animation or a cool-down, while Jason is 4.6* and reloads mid-chase without any issue. Any mistakes he makes are trivial since he always gets to just try again. He can just reload at any scrap pile or hook and there is no downside for failure. Even the hooks can just be instantly fixed just by going into Omnipresent mode for half a second at the numerous pallet and vault spawns before picking up.
Jason has the powers of numerous killers in dbd without any of the downsides of those other killers. Its problem of the game and BHVR's direction of killer design recently. Just think about Huntress's power next to Jason and how much power creep there is there.

I disagree, If you’re smart & watch your surroundings while Jason is around.
You just need to dodge his spear,
The aura reading for the small amount of time you have it, On the spear is super fair.
I quote what I said before, Read what I said.^^^
Your being one sided, Example survivors can run perks that gives you the killers aura for 20+ metres.
(Mind you this aura reading on the killer is all time throughout the trial, Unlike Jason’s speared survivors)
But no way an small aura for an short time on an speared survivor,
Just dodge his spear learn & adapt.
This is the one sided narrative that’s hurting the games health & the community, Just stop.
Play both sides, Learn and adapt. Have fun in the fog all.I do play both sides, about 50/50. Though I would consider myself a killer main as I am more proficient in that role. As reference I have 3 p100 killers and no p100 survivors not that prestige means much.
Killer has only been out a day so of course there are going to be lots of different options and discourse on them as players gain experience. I even conceded this point myself.
However, just because I have thoughts on a new killer that lean towards them needing adjustments to their power does not make me one sided. Assuming I don't play both sides just because I offer the slightest feedback is a bit absurd. The purpose of a forum is to promote discourse and discussion, not shut down conversation you disagree with by saying opposing options are being biased. Saying I am "one sided", or "just dodge the spear" is not constructive at all.
You automatically assuming that anyone suggesting Jason needs adjustments is simply being one sided, is it itself ironically being one sided.

The aura reading on the Spike when embedded in a survivor seems unnecessary to me, particularly given how easy it is for him to grab more ranged weapons. Feels like he has just 1 too many things in his kit, otherwise I think he is fine.
Of course he just released so I'll need to play more matches as and against him to be sure. These are just my initial thoughts.

As long as there is a toggle option, everyone could be happy.
I'm personally looking forward to everyone having voice lines. Adds to the characters instead of just a skin
It is all we are really asking for. I don't want BHVR to not update the voices for those who want new ones like you.
I just want BHVR to respect those of us who have been playing for a long time and are attached to the old sounds. I think it is a reasonable request for them to add a toggle so we can keep the characters we love as they are now. Especially given that many of us have put decent time and money into said characters.

A huge problem with this is what happened with Steve and Nancy, where not only were new spoken lines added, but all the old screams etc were changed too. I know multiple friends stopped playing Nancy / Steve because they didn't like the new voices.
I don't need Kate making some stupid comment every time she gets unhooked sounding like Sandy Cheeks or some #########.
Exactly. I understand them updating them with the license to increase quality, but as you said there are many who played them because of those old character sounds.
With original killers and survivors, there is no reason they need to impress other companies therefore no reason they can't have a toggle for the older sounds.
It can just be client side only where everyone else hears the new voices. I just want the option to keep characters the way I have enjoyed them for years and come to love them as they are.

Idk i'm just replying to the original post. What "old characters" are being changed?
In the dbd 10th ani stream, they announced they were going back and adding new voice and lines to old characters that don't have them. They suggested it would be a slow process to update all of the old survivors and some killers.
I'm not against it for those who want it, but many of us also like the silent characters we are used to.
After years of playing a character, I don't want them to suddenly sound different or have a completely different voice to what I imagined. Even worse if I don't like the new sounds/voice.

theres no universe where this isnt the best addon in the game and entirely mandatory
I actually like 4.4 Trickster but I know many don't and wish for a 4.6 option. Add-on would be very popular I'm sure and seems like the easiest solution for BHVR. Maybe in 5 years BHVR will get around to looking at it.

BHVR should just give him a 4.6 add-on that requires increased hits like before. It would allow those who prefered is 4.6 version to play him closer to how he was before, without messing with those who like him as 4.4 and his new power.
