I played all these perks and making 1-2-3-4 less of genrush scavenger combo and more of autodidact combo would be fairer.

You can bring comodious toolbox with charges add ons, and fully refill your toolbox before you finish gen having multiple full toolboxes per game. Something not even built to last is capable of.

that's like 3 perks or so to get value from 1, 12 seconds of performing, 30 seconds of 50 percent reduction. All the while having nothing for chase.

There is nothing OP about it, it's a specialist build

  • as it stands it's the only debuff cleanser in the game rn, it's a necessary evil as a support style perk. if you want to do anything maybe move the exhaustion component to ghost notes but I feel people would complain even more at that if it was stronger coz of its secondary effect.

I still don't understand why we dont have any alternatives to it.

  • That's a shame I was really looking forward to facing Huntress again

Killer is definitely a higher pressure role.

As surv i kind of expect to die most of the time. Whereas when I play killer a loss is much more unpleasant. You're up against 4 other players and a loss with nonkills is embarassing and surv players will often stick the boot in and bm/ talk smack in egc if they've done well.

My best advice is to try and change your outlook when you enter a natch as killer easier said than done i know. But it helps lessen killer anxiety.

I just literally played a Mina game where I could not aim for the life of me, it was like reverb fart sfx tier gameplay. It's embarassing sure, but mistakes can be hillarious also. Some of my best memories are making mistakes in this game, like falling down a hole coz I whiffed a lunge is so funny to me.

Honestly the answer can be broken down to: Be Kinder to yourself.

  • Maybe it's not anxiety and maybe you are burnt out on it also?

This is not saying it's not true re your anxiety, but the amount of threads that have suddenly popped up after the anxiety video feels like people are trying to ride a wave.

As a killer player who plays whatever I'm in the mood for, just go with the flow, maybe it's not a killer day, sometimes I just play something else like another game.

  • Alternatively a BP multiplier or even queue prio incentive for killers which are under represented could be nice.

Because its easier to ask for challenges to get removed than get better.

Just don't let a survivor ask for something similar or the waterworks will begin.

Honestly rn I just want the problematic stuff removed to play against as survivor:
    -High Latency
    -Nurse/Ghoul/Jason
    -Extreme Slugging

  • Yeah I agree with Jester, when I go against anti-tunnel like that I feel it's fair game, as for using it like that or just stunning the killer in general over and over I always tell myself "I deserved that" LOL

I try not to take it personally when its used agressively, like tunneling it's a strategy, in the game to be used until the devs do something about either.

  • I had someone use Shoulder the Burden to save a friend the other day and coz I could see the hook counter I just went for them instead, the unhooker gets the hook state without activating any anti tunnel perks? I thought hooking was too powerful… Shoulder the burden is gaining a hook count on someone without any of the "downsides" killers usually complain about.

That means the people in this game weren't able to use second chance until the final chase, so… why didn't you go for the unhooker?

  • @Readyplayerone said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4099016#Comment_4099016

Oh you wana go this route?

    • Adrenaline: Granted instant health and a massive speed boost mid-chase when the final generator popped.
    • Med-kit Add-ons: Allowed survivors to fully heal themselves multiple times per match in under 10 seconds.
    • Prove Thyself: Stacked massive repair speed bonuses that let coordinated groups finish generators lightning-fast.
    • Circle of Healing: Created a map zone where the entire team had free, infinite self-healing.
    • Made for This: Provided a permanent 3% movement speed increase for simply being injured.
    • Off the Record: Kept survivors safe for 80 seconds even if they aggressively bodyblocked the Killer.

This is what survivors do, pretend to be victims of changes to overpowered perks. And people wonder why this game never gets meaningful balance changes. All the survivor pandering is ruining the game and it shows.

So your first thing wrong is thinking I think these changes weren't warranted, the second thing you got wrong was saying I am a "Survivor"

Those perks needed nerfs, much like how Killer needs nerfed from time to time, and you acknowledged them saying they get no changes, so what one is it lmao

it’s the Biggest paradox amongst those who know me IRL why I spend so much time in dbd yet actively discourage them from playing it. It’s like where do I start??

Right??? And then you have all the content creation shaming and complaining about new players being a problem in their lobbies or whatever. Then also want to make the game even harder for them.

Isn't that just a sign the game is unforgiving? We should be making the game more forgiving on both sides.

  • I'll just list a few off the top of my head:
    -Adrenaline was nerfed
    -Med kit addons were nerfed
-Streetwise was reworked to nerf item builds (toolboxes)
    -Prove thyself has been nerfed
-Calm Spirit a perk that didnt even need it was nerfed
    -Distortion was changed
    -Circle of healing was changed
    -Made for this was changed
    -Off the record was nerfed

there is probably more to list, but the point is… there is no pandering, both sides get live changes. Thats how live service game works.

  • @Mr_K said:

43 killers, there's going to be overlap.

Within a year I don't really think that counts

  • The poison was a lot stronger than you are downplaying it.

Both sides had stuff which was strong, survivors were a bit more unpredictable as their power wasn't the same every match, some powers were bad against X killer, like the invis, some particle effects would persist when the invis activated and coughs etc.

I wouldn't take it to heart, don't worry too much about the people who disagree with your opinion. I agree with points like Haywire needing changed coz it's kind of unusable in its current form.

Some points like botany I don't agree with but that's only because of Diminishing returns right now, I see your point though.

Anti cheat at least looks like it is being revisited with the recode, coz they had a survey on it

I'm definitely in favor of buffing niche perks, I think if you split up your post into more focused topics like the accessibility feedback and survivor perk changes and killer perk changes etc, people will listen to you and focus more on the subjects you want to tackle.

Having both talked before, I know you write with your passion of the game but I do think if you wrote the points with focused threads on the changes you'd like to see you'd get more of the engagement you'd like to see <3

A lot of people are conflating it with anxiety disorder, not just the sensation of anxiety, and it's resulting in some really presumptuous things being said about people that get anxious when wanting to play killer.

To the thread in general, clarifying some things because this is getting derailed hard:

    1. I'm not narcissistic. I don't want a 4k nor do I particularly play for one.
    2. I don't keep playing a game that's making me feel bad. I straight up just don't play killer if I'm feeling anxious about it. The problem is wanting to play killer, but choosing not to because of an emotional state.
    3. I don't expect the devs to do anything about it. The issue is with the individual, i.e. me, and somewhat the community overall (tribalism.)
    4. Discussing the aspects of playing killer that can cause stress is not the same as demanding the game change to remove/alter said aspects. A lot of people might just want to find common ground and a little bit of validation that they're not alone. It's human to feel illogical emotions, human to feel ashamed about that and human to seek catharsis by talking about it.
    5. I don't think anyone here is trying to stake a claim to a mental illness caused by the game. Anxiety is not just a medical term. It is also a sensation that everyone feels from time to time.

Personally, I would have found it quite nice to discuss with some other people how they feel, how I feel, what we have in common and learn to overcome this silly little hurdle together. Instead, we've got accusations and insults. Thoroughly disappointing.

I think what hasn't helped is it's being treat like a new buzzword to push us vs them baits.

Because I'd love to talk about how some days I feel like damn I'm gonna miss all my shots coz I've taken a break, it's the same when I queue up for solo survivor for a break, sometimes coming back to the game when so much has been added is intimidating.

But as I keep saying it's not exclusive to just DBD for me, Overwatch/Marvel Rivals I take breaks from too and have the same issue.

My coping mechanism is usually to stream to a close friend on discord and just laugh at the mistakes I make and make clips, just make a nice social hangout from it as killer or survivor (my friends dont like playing horror but love watching it)

Yeah, I saw he sent that aftwards. Kinda wish they did the comparison on the same map. Im trying to watch it on my phone and going from day time earie of crows to a night time map, I couldn't even see the survivor at first, let alone pay attention to the distance.

Honestly it's more the hitting to the right then the hitting through the window of shack like deathslinger AFAIK she can't hit through that window? Maybe I'm wrong.

I always want to be wrong since being pessimistic is boring but BHVR always finds a way to drop the ball, I genuinely think they believe gameplay isn't worth the attention/resources currently, there's no other explanation for how glacial and piecemeal their balance has been for the last two years.

My guess is they don't want to make any large changes with the new version on the way as it could cause a lot of confusion between the two teams.

So we'll probably get larger less frequent changes instead, at least, that would be the hope.

"it has a smaller environment collision and a large player collision"- I'd very much like to see this video, because I've been seeing shots on my end that were almost certainly hits/looked like hits that missed that matched my thoughts on player+environment collision being the same. Not saying your wrong, I'd just like to see this because Itd help me perception on jasons ranged attack a lot.

Whats the point in showing killreates that are already filtered, so they dont look so oppressive? There will never be stats released that you could interpret properly.

Congrats on your 69th post, nice.

I think a little transparency couldn't hurt honestly in regards to kill rates and the state of the game.

  • @TWiXT said:

If the Devs Release the Kill Rate Stats for say the months of May through August, Jason, being the only released killer for that period, and thus the most played, will undoubtedly have inflated stats. We've seen this with Krasue, Ghoul, Spirit, hell even OG Freddy who was one of the worst to actually play, but still ended up with a High Kill Rate because the stats came out a month after his release.

Basically, Demanding the stats get released now will show you what you WANT to see: That he's the most lethal killer.

BUUUUT, that's not due to his actual kill rate, it's because he's currently being played way more than the other killers, which is throwing off the overall stats. If you want accurate stats, you'll have to wait until the devs release them roughly a year after Jason came out. People will be playing him less, some will have chosen to "main" him, others will have dropped him entirely or just play occasionally so they can go back to their favorites etc, the point is that Even if you saw his stats right now, they will be grossly inaccurate because of his current popularity. Don't Believe me? Here's the Killer "Kill Rate" stats they released for after Krasue and The First (ST Vecna) came out:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7ZAT8PXNFYST/image.png

Now, all things considered… Do you REALLY think Krasue is the No. 1 Killer in High MMR right now? Or even for the past 6 months? Do you see a lot of Krasue's Just dominating your matches right now? Hell, how about the Stranger Things Vecna? I bet you see more of them than the No. 1 Killer as of September 2025-February 2026, but I doubt they're as overbearingly lethal as this shows.

I hope you get my point.

Not really because even the Nightlight stats suggest he is the most lethal killer, not to mention more players = more data… so it'd not be inflated at all, it'd be more accurate as you can see the casual and more experienced player kill rates even on an account basis if need be.

I don't really get what you're trying to say coz all of these killers were indeed strong at this time, Twins is that high due to her slugging synergy against casual players who dont run anti slug especially. "High MMR" might as well just be changed to people who play often, coz I swear the MMR barely works.

  • Yeah the turn change was awful, now it's find a pallet or die against a good one.

We're never going to know the real numbers with these little slices they give us. There are too many matches tossed. I'd like to see the matches with DCs included alongside the ones without.

I think DC's should be shown too lmao as its own stat, it wouldn't make sense to disregard a high DC rate against a specific problematic killer.

That should be telling if people find it frustrating or not. It's important information.

  • Try turn back the clock on him, it's great!

  • @cogsturning said:

We never will because DCs get tossed from the stats and he's had a lot of DCs. They're going to throw us some bs number like 65%. They'd never let a KR of 75% or something be known. That's too much ammo to give people.

Which is concerning because this is the 2nd time it's happened, Ghoul was the last time, where I asked this exact question.

  • Honestly, yes, specialist killers (one power) should be the best at what they do.

  • @Angy_Quentin said:

I am really curious about nurse killrates in 1v4. I think especially after filtering out every player under 100 hours on nurse she has a crazy killrate!

I mean knowing that would be useless and wouldn't tell you anything but it would be nice to know!

I feel like they always try to gaslight us when it comes to her lmao so yes I agree some meaningful kill rates for the top killers would be nice.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4098447#Comment_4098447

"Its way easier to hit than huntresses"- its also way easier to dodge

"it is a guarenteed health state unlike deathslingers"- If your not getting the hit from a deathslinger shot then your doing something wrong, and since most deathslingers should be running forced penance if they bodyblock they get broken and you get a healthstate on someone.

"Plus the disruption of the push and lack of slowdown after throw makes it much easier to 2 tap people"- Unless the survivor walks into a wall they should make distance to the next loop from the pushback+speed burst. Your definition of 2 tap here has to be hitting twice within 30s, which huntress can do much better.

"7 hatchets in reserve doesnt really apply when jason can just grab another spear from every junk pile and hook which are spread all over the map midchase without any appreciable slowdown"- During a loop of any TL/jungle gym tile, you can reload at best twice, and even then have to go out of your way to reload the second time most the time. The survivor can then choose either to leave the tile or continue looping it. 7 hatchets is infinitely more forgiving then the 1 spike when after the first reload you need to go 4/5s out of the way (losing 10s total) to get another spike, and huntress lockers are everywhere. The slowdown is the 10s/12s he spends going out of his way to get said spike. And if he misses, look at where hes going to reload and make distance off it. ITS NOT HARD. this is easily the worst argument you couldve made.

"Fair point OE wouldn't be a particularly good power on It's own, but instant traversal with very little cooldown is strong on any killer and makes his powerful ranged attack even more OP." - we agree here. His ranged attack is made Strong (not OP imo, a few small tweaks are needed) by having the traversal and the haste off power. The issue is we see instant traversal on a bunch of killers (dredge, springtrap, xenomorph hey even arguably hag) and we see that that alone isn't strong. And again, his ranged attack alone would make him B/C tier, because its a 1 shot reload with nothing else and has a pretty unforgiving hitbox given how easy it is to juke.

Overall, the nerfs I personally think he needs are reduced haste from 25s to 10s, decreased scrap pile spawns and increase OE cd so he can't spam it, and once he uses it he has to commit.

It's not easier to dodge, it has a smaller environment collision and a large player collision, there was a video going around online showing it compared to huntress and slinger.

  • Nerf Jason, I want to play against more Huntress again.

The fact Trickster was reworked this year and power crept is even worse than the springtrap situation.

  • @Wiccamanplays said:

I know some people around here hate Nightlight but as a sample of around 12k matches in the last month Jason was both the most picked Killer at 24% and the most lethal at almost 55%. For comparison the next most popular Killers are Ghoul and Wesker at a little over 4% each and the next most lethal are Dracula and Henry aka Vecna 2: The First But Not Really with around 54% and 53% respectively (those two have way below average pickrates so that can be explained by their few dedicated players being pretty cracked).

Interesting, then I'd really like to see where the "official ones" are at, now people are figuring him out more especially, they revealed Tricksters rework stats, so I'd love to see Jasons.

  • Yeah I'm not a fan of it lol, made entirely pointless by all the aura reading now

  • I wanna also add if killer mains didn't take the game so seriously and apply the mentality you have on survivor on killer, you'd enjoy the game more.

Current content creation is all about trying super hard as killer, HAVING to win, win streaks of different flavours. If you tried that hard on survivor you'd also be stressed tf out.

Try memeing as you play, nod when you get interacted with, stare at a hatchet that went wide as huntress, turn slowly when you get blastmined to the survivor on the hook who did it.

The magic of DBD is the interaction with players on both sides, it's what keeps me playing, I just think people who are using the buzzword are taking it way way too seriously rn.

  • @coldflame said:

Perks do their job, it's not a big deal

Ideally I'd like more than just a list of perks, if you don't mind, I'd like to know what links all those perks together and what exactly it's a "second chance" at doing. You know, what the first chance was, what the mistake or misplay the player made was, that sort of thing.

Now, I do intend to push back and question a few answers here and there, but I promise it's in good faith. I'd like to know what I'm missing about other people's perspectives here.

    It means:
    -Pain Res
    -DMS
    -Turn Back the clock
    -BBQ
    -Friends til the end
    -Furitive chase

For all the illiterate players who don't realise it works both ways IMO, coz DS etc is similliar to all of this.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/469811/most-perks-need-a-buff

Since it's not lost on me that speaking about this in broader terms can make it tough to pull out specific examples, I'd love to dig into this a little deeper. We want to make sure we're getting feedback to the team about perks folks feel could use a boost, after all.

I'm game to hear any feedback on perks you think could do with a buff, but specifically, have you noticed any perks that were adversely impacted by Diminishing Returns and are lacking utility nowadays?

Not DR related but some of the perks from The Walking Dead and FNAF could use buffs (very undertuned):
-Last Stand (multiple use, or make it easier to land)
-Apocalyptic Ingenuity (2 chests for one fragile pallet is REALLY useless), tying it to gen repairs would probably be more ideal
-Haywire: Needs to be buffed, forget about singularity, nerf him if needed

Also perks from Vee and Krasues Chapter like:
    -Overture of Doom
-Road Life (needs to be a duration like We'll make it, or earnable while not injured)

Also Cross Examination is about to be executed even though it's underused already.
Rampage could be tested to be buffed too.

I really hope you revisit recently released chapters which perks have a lot of chapter but, you clipped the wings too much on.

  • I said it in another thread I'm going to say it here, the "Killer Anxiety" buzzword is not exclusive to Killer, nor is it exclusive to this game. It's a competitive game phenomenon and sometimes it's really evident the people who make these videos ONLY play Dead By Daylight.

That's not invalidating the issue, it's real, but it happens to survivor players too… ever thought how ACTUALLY anxious it is co-operating with 3 friends (someone is a friend of a friend you don't know them very well). Tunneling happens to the person who you don't know very well and you're worried it's caused a situation where they get the wrong idea of you coz they aren't enjoying themselves.

Then there is meeting people who ridicule you on survivor side or tunnel you for being a minority, where you feel you have to play on anon mode because the community is so toxic about that sort of thing sometimes. yes this happens to both sides, but the killer role can actively slug said survivor for the whole match (yes they can abandon but it's still something they can do).

Killer "Anxiety" when killer queues are just not in need is such a frustrating topic to Us vs Them over, Both sides suffer and yes the game could be more forgiving for both sides.

it's much easier to use the game mechanics to make the survivor side miserable as both survivor and killer than it is for survivors to make the killer experience miserable, that's a fact.

I would prefer no new releases and them do balance / fixes for current stuff while working on long term stuff (new code, etc) but know that not gonna happen 😂

I do get what you are saying tho and would agree, but track record isn't the best with waiting for stuff with BHVR

I remember a swamp rework mentioned ages ago, SM current state, I know this one new but the whole diminishing returns has had no perks or individual killer adjustments for its implementation (unless you count the killers who had small "buffs" I guess, but iirc that was unrelated to diminishing returns just around same time) now that sorta stuff gonna have to be waiting longer.

Swamp rework will be with the new update I guess, Skull Merchant was scrapped coz of the "Skull Merchant community" backlash, that's on them, they should have just rode the wave of the new design and seen where it took them coz it's better than the state she is in now.

Diminishing Returns is probably why they are taking their time to review the state of the game, you can already see them experimenting with new haste values in new perk and power design (Jason's haste and Wide Open Throttle, Lend a hand is a new type of healing perk that has synergy with existing perks).

Like you can already see in their decisions their awareness of the feedback IMO, I imagine the next update that addresses DR will be a broad sweeping one with a PTB to focus solely on that. While we'd all love the changes RN, we need to patient or we'll end up with a rush job if we pressure them, which is how we get bugs.

The current game we just have to cope with it for a while longer.

  • Yeah I agree with this

  • I'd adore this on the new version <3 horror lighting is always some of the prettiest out there, RE2make is a great example of that

  • @random1543 said:

Its really strange ngl, we just had a anniversy stream where announcements for all these graphical overhauls and dynamic weather stuff in the future, is this where the recourses are going instead of to the live game?

I would rather go hard with fixes / changes for stuff already in game.

I don't think it is strange, a lot of DBD's current issues come from the current make up of the games code. In an interview Cote said they are building it from the ground up.

Lots of long standing issues could potentially be fixed with this new remake of the game, and with a team who built it themselves, it'll be easier for them to fix any issues as it's THEIR code.

I think being patient for bigger changes is fine, coz they are perhaps working on these very same changes being added to the other version of the game at the same time.

The game isn't exactly dying or suffering rn, balance isn't catastrophic bar the few outliers, we just need to be patient and enjoy the new releases <3

Keep giving feedback etc, coz it's quite clear from Mandy's post they are listening to us.

No, they just need to get them right. Henry's is a good recent example of that. Trickster is a good example of it being done wrong, where he can just Main Event you the moment your feet hit the ground, making gaining distance impossible. That's not how things should be.

Drones being able to be placed but not active/slower/not move would be fine. its the same with unknown, I lose my apparitions if I hook someone nearby and it's really annoying.

I'd much rather they'd go into the slumped inactive state while the surv is on a hook

  • The recode they are talking about I feel is going to impact how the games networking is handled the most, how the game feels at least I really hope so. It's my biggest gripe with this game above all else, hits are so jank, latency is so easy to abuse.

Honestly most of my gripes come from the games code over the years and I'm confident and hopeful they can fix and polish the game to where it deserves to be.

I think for a lot of people, it's the fact that even if we have a horrible game that we know we have 0 chance of winning - we're still forced to suffer through it until the survivors open the gates and leave

The survivor role if they have a bad game e.g they all get downed at once, can just abandon and be done with it. Killers have to either sit around and wait for the timer or push the survivors out themselves. I don't have a problem with either but for a lot of people just the notion that they might have to do either of those things can be a bit anxiety inducing

Some kind of Killer abandon condition would do wonders. Either when gates are powered and the Killer has no hooks, or when the endgame collapse starts and all 4 survivors are still alive. Something like that

Abandon would be a bandaid fix, we need some actual comeback mechanics or anti-snowball prevention without the need of perks, the underlying issue would still exist much like it currently does for survivor with the extreme slugging.

We already have measures to stop extreme stealth on killer side with an abandon and the crows system.

as it stands rn killer leaves, the match is over, survivors leave, they leave a bot behind. I can't help but wonder if its to do with how the game does its networking why we can't have killer bots.

Coz I'm sure if both killers dc in 2v8 it ends the match also?
