What do you want most for DBD’s future? (Changes, additions, removals)

I’ve been thinking a lot about what keeps Dead by Daylight fun long-term, and I’m curious what other players care about most.

If you could pick one thing you most want to see for the game’s future, what would it be? (Just listing a few ideas below but it can be anything that’s on your mind. Good or Bad)

  • A change (reworks, balance, matchmaking, QoL, etc.)
  • An addition (new modes, features, systems, social tools, etc.)
  • A removal (things you think actively hurt the game)

I’d love to hear different perspectives, whether you mainly play killer, survivor, or both. What’s your number one “please, Behaviour, do this” request, and why?

Comments

  • The recode they are talking about I feel is going to impact how the games networking is handled the most, how the game feels at least I really hope so. It's my biggest gripe with this game above all else, hits are so jank, latency is so easy to abuse.

Honestly most of my gripes come from the games code over the years and I'm confident and hopeful they can fix and polish the game to where it deserves to be.

  • Map changes (especially Gideon Meat plant), Skull Merchant rework (announced for 2 years already), and nerfs to toolboxes

  • The number one thing i personally want to see is bhvr buffing perks that nobody uses for both sides. Do yall even remember that small game, visionary, clean break, undone, or human greed even exist? Now i dont want bhvr to buff these perks into super meta perks but i want bhvr to give them buffs enough so that people will actually start using them again like what they did with the all kill comeback chapter

  • A lot more additions to unique mechanics and reworking worse perks into them.

    → Scourge Hooks

→ Remote perks like "Turn Back The Clock"

    → Compromised perks

    → Boons

    → Invocations

    → Teamwork

    → Light marks

  • I'll use your three bullet points. By no means exhaustive but just one for each:

    • Change: A system that makes adjustments to some match metrics based on the killer being played. If we want to avoid every killer being reworked like Myers was, we need variable balancing. M1 killers should have less pallet density, high-mobility A/S-tiers should deal with higher genspeeds, etc.
    • Addition: I want maps with a timesink objective outside of just generators that directly contribute to the escape. Use event modes to test these concepts if you must. Collecting or forging keycards to lift a lockdown or outright causing a lockdown through overheating a reactor. Initiating an escape pod launch. Hacking. Split it up like blood generators vs regular generators, so gen perks always have a place.
    • Removal: Just kill map offerings already. Unweighted RNG is the only fair way to determine maps now. The chance they have is too low to be worth using now, and making the chance high enough will just result in people exploiting it for favourable maps again. Will probably have to create something new to clutter up the Bloodweb though (BW is the entire reason I think map offerings are still in the game at all).
  • server side validation and proper cheat protection.
But that's basically a pipe dream and not realistic.

  • Well i guess ill start with

    • Addition: A Shanoa Legendary Skin for Trevor (or 2nd castlevania chapter with her as the survivor allowing other females from castlevania like Yoko Belnades and others to join as legendaries)
    • Addition: A Simon Belmont legendary skin for Trevor.
    • Change: Richter Belmont's face to be reworked to look like any of the source material.
    • Change: Rick & Daryl's placeholder screams/grunts replaced by closer sounding voices.
    • Change: Dustin & Robin's heights fixed in game to resemble their lobby heights.
    • Addition: new objects to hide in besides just lockers.
    • Change: full rework to Xenomorph as his counterplay is either entirely in his favor or the survivors, no balance in between, which severely lowers his pickrate.
    • Change: full rework to Skull Merchant
    • Remove: Fog Vial addons as they serve no purpose. Make one of the fog vials iri if u still need the thicker fog vial effect.
    • Remove: map offerings and instead add a "favorite map" option that when selected, slightly increases your chances of getting that map until turned off, does not stack unless the killer and 1 survivor ask for the same map.
    • Addition : Joyce and Hopper legendary skins for steve and nancy
    • Addition : Analee Call, and Bishop Legendary skins for Ellen Ripley.
    • Addition : a badge/banner for Rize
    • Change: Customisable legendary skins
    • Change: option to remove backpieces/accessories from cosmetics that have them.
    • Change : Bloodweb improvements. Prioritising specific items when auto leveling (as they've shown it can with like the current event cakes). Along with lvl 50 bloodweb getting 3-5 event offerings again to undo the p100 event offering nerf.
    • Addition : Baldurs gate 3 collab for Dungeon & Dragons
    • Addition : Scary Movie collab with Cindy & Brenda survivors chapter or legrndaries.
    • Addition : Shaun of the dead collab as survivors chapter or legendaries
    • Addition: Dino Crisis chapter.
    • Addition: New Rebecca Chambers cosmetics.
    • Most importantly : Enhanced Jiggle physics, especially for Lara Croft and Thalita. Along with more detailed underwear for skirt cosmetics
  • Before moving on to PTB or patch notes, I’d like the staff in the departments responsible for game balance—if not everyone, then at least those directly involved—to play five games each as both Survivors and Killers.

Wouldn’t someone have noticed if even one person had played as Chucky—who can’t interact with warp portals during the event and can’t play properly—or as Region, who gets hit with poison while her ability is active? How on earth did an unbalanced event like this Banquet event—one that builds up frustration on both sides—end up being held?

Also, please address the balance adjustments that clearly only took one side’s feedback into account—such as Survivors being able to carry food even after Dessert Time starts, while Killers have their poison taken away; or Region being nerfed without any mention in the patch notes, yet Survivors’ Unbreakable Pallets, item-granting Warp Portals, and Instant Beer continue to be allowed.
