i mean nurse existing killed awakened awareness so i really do wish one day we could get tier based perks
hopefully we do, like having haste perks like Batteries be how it is on tier 3 now for Trapper but at tier 1 for killers like Blight or Billy. It obviously wouldn't completely reduce the burden balancing becomes with each new perk but it would make it a lot more bearable to go against Ghoul with a full slowdown build that draws the game out more than it needs to be.
In the case of awa awa, you could even nerf tier one being 16 metres to 12 so Nurse/Blight get somewhat less value but a 4.4 with no ranged power like Hag would always get the tier 3 version even if they just got Wesker and didn't level him up once. IDK if the devs would want to remove that grinding aspect of the game though

in a perfect world i would suggest it having different values of strength because some killers it is way to strong on.
I wonder if they've ever considered having perk tiers not be upgraded per prestige but instead depending on the killer, certain perks would be stronger or weaker (a Nurse game would have the weakest tier of her aura perks and anti-tunnel perks could be the highest tier), though it would require a lot of work coding the perks into certain "classes" and then deciding which class gets which tier per killer.

Chainsawman is a bit of a personal one for me, given it's my own favorite anime show and I've not liked anything else since it's release. It just doesn't make sense for Reze to be chased around trials you know? Or even Denji, canonically they are super over powered compared to the settings in the fog. Makima wouldn't be suitable as a killer either, she doesn't go out of her way to target randoms in her lore, she doesn't have that kind of bloodlust.
I guess I should've worded it better, it's not about horror and the scare factor, but rather whether or not the setting fits DBD, even when manipulated to fit, I wouldn't want it to feel forced.I'll be honest I know nothing outside of the basic premise for Chainsaw Man but I think it could be cool in theory, how they could make it work while being faithful I don't know or can't speak on because all I know is the name Denji
-
somewhat shorter cooldown, window scamper returned with no penalty and pallet scamper returned but it removes some time left of Hidey Ho in the same way an M1 does. Also give him a head cosmetic to have a little hat since Victor can't get one
-
they also need to allow the toggle of some lobby animations because if I have another Eddie Munson start playing a riff louder than Kaneki screaming and bowing smugly I'm actually going to lose my mind

Tokyo Ghoul is a dark fantasy, not horror. Meaning it's dark, but it's not scary or horror.
dark fantasy can be horror too, TG has body horror and cannibalism, along with psychological with Kaneki trying to balance remaining as human as possible while forced to be a half-Ghoul, which is especially present in how DBD integrated him.
-
@Crowman said:
We already have cosmetic collections with Attack on Titan and we have a few with bands. We're getting scooby doo. DBD is already past the point of becoming fortnite.
@cammoking123 said:
Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world, it has way more players than DBD. They must be doing something right. Imo, DBD has a problem with it's playerbase being all veterans. It's working for now. But will DBD really last like that? I think they understood that even though Tokyo Ghoul isn't directly horror, it's still a franchise that would bring in new players.
AoT and Tokyo Ghoul are both still horror, even though I disliked AoT there was still parts that were genuinely terrifying. Metal bands have been linked with horror for a while through their imagery and lyrics. And Scooby Doo may be children's "horror" but it still deserves representation in the game, same with the others I talked about. All but TG work best as cosmetics though

Honestly, the part of "only Horror deserves to be in DBD" died when Nicolas Cage was added. At this point basically everything can end up in DBD.
Does not mean that I want that, but people saying that things are not "horror" enough just has no basis anymore.
if it was someone who had never been in a horror movie before I'd understand but Cage has, regardless of how good or bad those movies are (Wicker Man remake…)

Let's sort your ideas.
Making shift wrap basekit is a nice idea. I think half of the trapper bag addon value would be sufficient, three traps at a time seem more than enough.
I like the idea of allowing him to collect his farthest trap from a locker. That allows him to use his power effectively, even if he decides to defend an area close to his spawn point.
I think your idea regarding the rework of his trap placement mechanic is not thought through. His trap placement is extremely delicate and sometimes it's hard work to set a trap exactly where it effectively blocks a window for fast and slow vaults for example. Increasing the hitbox of traps is also a dangerous game, because it could allow for locking down areas between close tiles that are not intended and healthy.
All in all i like your first two ideas and would like to add a huge QOL improvement. Remove the ink addons and allow trapper to decide a color intensity for his traps at the start of the trial. That way he can have very light traps on eyrie and very dark traps on gideon.
on that last point, I think the colour of the traps should be based on the map itself, so for Ormond it would be white or light grey just enough that it can blend in and needs attention to the environment to spot

Tomb raider has always been horror adjacent, look at tomb raider 1's flesh factory atlantis and the likes of 2013's prequel (the one she was taken from lore wise). I mean it comes with the territory of tombs too lol
Anime is definitely horror, they should explore it more. The only Tomb Raider I've played is the 2013 one and I saw a bit of one from years ago that was on the Wii, I do think she belongs even if I would rather her as a legendary than full character, it just still feels weird to me seeing her run from Freddy Kruger in space when I still associate her with the likes of Uncharted so that's probably bias on my part.
I do need to see this flesh factory now…
-
Sent one the day the anniversary event started, they seem busy recently because I'm still waiting for a reply other than "we have your ticket and will get back as soon as possible"
-
No, I do this thing called thinking to see if there are any contradictions in the logic of the build, then I play the game and try it out. If I was still unsure I would ask an actual person with experience and not a machine that validates everything I say.
-
Anime can be horror, horror belongs in DBD. Hatsune Miku I get, but Chainsaw Man is as horror as Saw or Terrifier; it being animated doesn't change that. A more fitting example would be something like the R6 Siege collab or if we were to be very pedantic even Tomb Raider or Witcher that can be seen as scary situations if we were in them but aren't explicitly horror media.

a throw away account? If it was just one I wouldn't need to say anything. Also this is the most self centered community people would completely do this.
so what determines a throwaway account not being someone getting frustrated and making this known to BHVR?
And yes, people could do that but that misses the point of why would they isolate it to the forums and not somewhere like twitter where the controversy you think they'll cook up could spread like wildfire? BHVR can't control it there, but here they can easily delete the account entirely before it spirals out of control and then whatever satisfaction they wanted from the attention and negativity is squashed

Legally? You can discuss DBD anywhere, BHVR won't send lawyers after you.
Here's a hint since you can't tell. What if someone gets one of those crossed out profile pics and decides to come back during highly visible events to stir up controversy?
because controversy is something so foreign to DBD, let alone the forums? What controversy could a throwaway account on a game forum cause that any other place where discussion is available is immune to? Is there something here that makes it easier than somewhere like Twitter, where the game actually gets represented to the population that DON'T play the game?

For those that haven't yet seen, we have updated on Twitter (I will forever refuse to say X):
Following player reports, we have been investigating why the Toothy Torte offering is appearing less than the previous year, and while we have not completed our investigation into why the previous year granted more than the intended amount, we have made the decision to increase the current guaranteed amount of Toothy Tortes so that each level of the Bloodweb will have at least one offering to guarantee 50 offerings per Prestige Level for the rest of the Event, this replaces the current Mystery Boxes that spawn. Event items will still spawn in the Bloodweb normally.
We know this has been a massive source of frustration for players and we apologize that this has taken as long as it has, we want everyone to enjoy the rest of the Anniversary Event and the Bloodhunt. Happy 10 years of Dead by Daylight!
Better late than never I suppose, thank you Mandy
-
if it doesn't make their money back from all the promo, then it isn't worth fixing apparently
-
So you all just decided what the issue that the community had with the offerings and addressed that rather than what people actually wanted because you refuse to go back on this new, disliked intention? And to make up for this change nobody asked for being in the final week of the event, you try to bribe us with 4 days of a bloodhunt (you didn't think it was a fun, celebratory idea to just keep it for the rest of the event?) and in this PR apology, you promote skins that have less than 2 weeks to claim?
Over all this seems like an anniversary that had all the planning and budget put into the Jason stream, big flashy live event and teasers while the actual game had a bland game mode held together by duct tape and spit. On top of that, the lack of communication not just regarding the event and these changes, but for the entirety of 2026 so far has been abysmal.
Yes, good job on all the bugs fixed, but it took 6 months for you to finally tell us that any update that features a new killer won't be getting any balance changes. A live service game… that balances itself every 3 months… and most of those will be changing at most 4 perks, slight killer buffs by making an add-on partially basekit and nerfing said add-on, or nerfing a killer and slightly buffing some add-ons. Even Ubisoft realised that balancing by nerfing or buffing only wasn't fun or overall healthy, and then also increased the frequency at which they balance. Meanwhile we're going one step forward and one step back which makes us fall down a flight of stairs.
When large content creators that play your game are taking frequent breaks from playing when modes like 2v8 come out, completely ignore playing one side like Killer in the Banquet, or others just abandoning the game entirely because its always one disappointment after another, you really got to wonder just how long this game actually has if it carries on this way.

- I just meant the in general player count even without anniversary.
- I am writing this as something to do in between queue times instead of doom scrolling.
- Less BP grinding = Less time on the game. Which means you won't be exposed to in game transactions as much, then you see people playing with the new content and think "That must be fun, maybe I can stop running the same build every game." And then they eventually buy new content. Along with the fact that anytime you see someone with multiple prestiges wearing cosmetics which they most likely didn't spend iri shards on since those unlock more characters it gets more money for devs. Essentially by making the grind impossible to complete, it gets people to keep coming back to the game because I guarantee you if you had everything unlocked you wouldn't play this game nearly as much. Because there would be no incentive.
the player count that skyrocketed once Jason was added? Yes, a highly popular slasher being added to the horror game might boost that up a small bit like Springtrap did with FNaF fans. That doesn't discredit that a lot of folks who play the game on a regular basis are unhappy with the distribution of cakes this year, a lot of them having many all or most characters owned and prestige 3.

it reminds me of last year when they stressed that the T in PTB is for TESTING and can easily be changed, then that same update (The Walking Dead) after people were saying that the changes to the Clown just made him feel auto-pilot, they only slightly reduced the new numbers to a degree that made so little difference. I once highlighted this to a community manager on twitter and all they said was "we can assure you all feedback was and will be brought to the team"… an amazing answer for that specific example they were given
-
all the wacky goofy stuff is given to the survivors, killers get a weird version of clown's purple bottle that can be effective but that doesn't make it fun.

Well they have the right to do what they want you guys are not entitled to anything really. On my opinion getting so much as you claim from that ammount sounds extensive anyway. I have better things to worry about than if I get few cakes more in this game.
they can do whatever they like, I agree, but to suddenly decide "nah not as much of the fun offerings to reduce the grind even somewhat especially during the anniversary where people will be running them" is a decision for sure, especially given its both the 10th anniversary AND they pulled out so many stops building it up on socials, a huge live event and a trailer during the Summer Games Fest

@pidgeon said:
"I'm not having fun so give me more rewards and disable the new content." People are genuinely just complaining as soon as survivor gets anything. The last two anniversary events were killer sided plus if this one was killer sided it would increase the queue times for killer even more than they already are.
the only killer sided aspect of the past anniversaries was the remote pallet breaking, which is nothing compared to what survivors get this year ON TOP of the amount of stuff they have in 2v8 (even though that is mainly to encourage playing survivor to improve killer queues, it is still at an egregious level)

I dunno why everyone is pissing themselves this event. Its just like any other. Boring, uninspired and just like the event with killers having remote hooking, remote pallet break and being able to expose survivors with an invitation we have another event with more dumb stuff that isnt engaging.
But tbf I don't really think its BHVR's fault for this outcome of the last few events. The communities complaints to having side objectives in these events just means we get bare bones.
it would be so much better if they were able to make the event something new, like get rid of generators and make it something that feels like a different game rather than just "happy 10 years, here is something just put into the regular game"

The imbalance in new mechanics per role isn't even funny, this is absolutely miserable for Killer.
Survivors have eleven new mechanics, and Killers have one, that while cool, is not very useful.
This is a little outrageous, events should be fun for both roles, not just new toys and fun for Survivor and only stress for Killer.
I don't mind the Survivor mechanics! But jeez why is there NOTHING for Killer to do but just sit there and take it, Morsel after Payoff after Global effect after Morsel after Morsel after Morsel after Payoff after Morsel after Payoff????
it isn't even a new killer mechanic, it's just one of Clown's bottles
-
i would try out the new event but after getting the game on Steam and syncing my profile, almost all of my characters prestiges and inventories have been erased, yet i still have all perks tier 3 and any unlocked cosmetics. I have reported it to support and also put it up on BetaHub but man has losing all of that progress just demoralised me from even trying to play. 2 years of cross progression and it still somehow breaks, it didn't on my first sync so im not sure what changed
-
Even though his movies (and the tv show) turn more horror-comedy, Chucky still feels more from a slasher than a full horror-comedy, so I would love for the killer to take that role to also bring a nature based aesthetic and be Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors, with legendries for Dwight and Claudette of Seymour and Audrey since they fit those two nicely.
With the new Sleepless District realm we could have Skid Row and the Shop itself as an impoverished urban setting.
-
Not all reworks but essentially changes that could modernise some killers or make them more healthy:
Trapper: Easier way to place traps and to not spend the first minutes doing chores, make disarming them more of a risk so that someone can't just follow him around and make his power redundant, have traps change colour depending on the realm to help them blend in more on maps like Eyrie and Ormond
Nurse: The usual suggestion, remove auras either while holding a blink or after the first. Also using one Blink while another is still recharging it sets the progress back to zero, if you have one dash and half recharged on Wesker he gets set to zero so Nurse should too.
Hag: 4.6, make removing traps risky like with Trapper but not impossible so there is still some counterplay to them but as to how this could be done I have no idea
Bubba: If anything was to change for him beyond number tweaks, either have something in the description telling how many sweeps he does per token OR remove the token system and replace it with a meter so you can hold down M2 and let go whenever to stop, an unnecessary modernisation imo but the only thing I can think of without an entire rework
Pig: If anything, give her another type of trap she can use from the movies or even an original one
Demogorgon: Some way of removing his own portals manually
Nemesis: Add-on overhaul, have the whip range increase slightly in Tier 2, can encourage zombies to to head to generators or exit gates from afar
Xeno: When has power charged, can go between the current Crawler mode or a more stealthy and swift one but cannot attack, flame turrets only beep to detect it if in this stealth mode or in the tunnels, if this mode doesn't get added then reduce the turret's effectiveness as there is no reason Xeno should have to worry about them as heavily while in chase if Nurse can be the way she is. Keep them still effective if played right though.
Unknown: Either dispelling a hallucination gives Weakened to have more risk removing them than "he MIGHT teleport there", or make Weakened slowly build back up while not looking at him. When not in chase, the Weakened gets removed maybe twice as slow so he can keep some pressure (most of these I do have reservations about as it could make him OP but could be somewhat tweaked to be more healthy)
Kaneki: The first hit he gets only applies the mark, but doesn't damage them; it will start the Countdown though which will have a slightly increased timer for Enraged. His M2 can only damage Marked survivors, and the third hit on them puts them into deep wounds. He still cannot down anyone via M2 but this should help the complaints of him getting many free hits and have the Kagune become more of a mobility tool too by giving them a longer range for traversal (range to Mark/injure stays the same as currently is. If Ghosty or Michael can't stalk them, Kaneki cannot Grab them)
Springtrap: After using a door, stays undetectable unless he is revealed by a camera. After a reveal, he cannot enter a door for a brief period but gets a lesser cooldown on reclaiming the Axe from anywhere. A Phantom will appear on the camera after he gets revealed so that the survivor responsible screams but doesn't give the bubble: this is to add some risk of revealing him while nearby.
-
As you said, killer is far more stressful especially with the constant exhaustion perks that feel like you spend twice as long chasing as you should while also having to manage facing 4 others, whereas even though solo survivor is difficult and I am at most an average survivor I still have way more fun because I just don't feel as pressured to perform perfectly every time. If I have a poor chase I at least have three others to support me, if the rest of them make a mistake I can help them, and if the game snowballs in the killer's favour very quickly it takes a fraction of the time to get into another game once its wrapped up. It may be harder but it has been such a relaxing break from killer that I might just stick to survivor for a while because a loss doesn't feel as bad than getting destroyed as Trapper on Badham
-
Haywire keeps the same effect but difficult skill checks are added to the first 50% of progress, with the amount of survivors alive contributing to how fast and/or small they are. An alternative is it gains a token for each generator completed so if one survivor is left but only one gen got done, it isn't totally impossible to open a gate if Killer finds the hatch.
Help Wanted is like Deadlock where it triggers whenever a gen is completed rather than a specific compromised one, and as someone said above it turns permanent once all gens are done.
Phantom Fear just needs a lesser cooldown and either remove the bubble or have the aura be a tiny bit longer because as it is you only really get to see half of the promised aura time

The Year 10 Roadmap shows chapters in July and September. The next PTB has 2 survivors for a license chapter. There's no reason to expect this next ptb will have balance changes.
correct, but that roadmap they unveiled is the one for Year 11 that only has the next rift marked for July. They also announced Chorus of Sin is releasing in August, so it can't be that roadmap, and what they said regarding any mid-chapters that have DLC (such as TWD) getting balance changes was:

still got new killer and survivor perks and may play against Jason
And there is some other minor stuff, the killer power description in Matches for example and some more aura customization options, and bug fixes
also, i don’t think its been confirmed that the 10.0.0 Patch will have no further additions to the PTB?a new killer, sometimes a survivor and their perks is the bare minimum the game should be providing, but again if people do not buy that for whatever reason, all they get is a new killer or survivor perks to learn to play against, which is frankly not enough to sustain a player base for the next 6 weeks in hopes that a mid-chapter has something new. even with that, there is no certainty available to these players that the changes to come that will effect them are even substantial enough to freshen up gameplay.
if the most we can expect for July is a further update to diminishing returns, bare bones killer tweaks and a handful of meaningless perk changes as we got last update, either the game is going to slowly burn itself out or they have to plan something groundbreaking that isn't a change like capping effect bonuses and calling it worthy of a proper update.
the killer descriptions in matches and new aura customisations are nice, but along with seeing teammates perks in game, to only be seeing these things added a decade into the game's life rather than after only a year is laughable.
the bug fixes are the one thing i have to commend them for in 2026 as it seems in one patch note there is more being fixed than three 2025 updates, but many of these also seem to be called fixed and then still happen in game. as for this ptb? I can't imagine they would leave stuff out to throw into a live release untested when the patch notes were already very empty
-
@Mandy said:
There are no plans to have live design changes during new content release - history has shown us that this is more problematic in getting feedback on new content as well as the changes.
can we at least see more changes then during non-content updates? the last mid-chapter had very minimum changes so if this is the new standard going forward, the game is going to get incredibly stale quickly which is a shameful way to start going into the tenth year. Also the lack of this being clarified earlier really seemed like setting people up for disappointment
-
I don't think its wise to expect them to try and top the two most wanted licences as anniversaries and get the third (which I imagine is Pennywise), it will probably be something that is different in the way DnD is the only magic chapter or End Transmission being the first sci-fi chapter
