The game is Survivor Sided
With the 10th anniversary event officially being out, it’s undeniable now. The game is survivor sided. Just from the fact of how they designed the event cements this as truth. Even just by reading the description, the event feels like the developers were sitting in a creative room, making up this amazing event, giving survivors all these amazing abilities to turn invisible and teleport and take a free hits and some intern went “hang on a second, what about killers?” and the room went silent as they all looked at each other, scratching their heads, and some guy just went “uhh idk give em poison or something”. I mean this event is just a spit in the face to killers. If the biggest event to celebrate the game being out for a DECADE is designed with nothing for killers in mind, what more proof do you need?

game always was and will be survivor sided because you need to somehow convince 4x more people to play survivor. If game was killer sided ever it just wouldn't function since most people would play killer.
The only thing that is undeniable is that killer players are super fast in making kneejerk reactions and showing their double standards. It would have been a really good thing if you had played some games before writing this post. Cause then you would see that its not as bad as you make it look like.
I agree and disagree with this post:
Its not as bad as some people make it out to be, if you play to win. If you bring in a strong build/killer you can survive most of what the event throws your way due to the time survivors have to put in to get these buffs. Most games I play killer, I struggle a lot more because the random buffs but can play well, and the poison in chase is nice. However, There is relatively nothing new about the game for killers, and it is essentially an "allow the survivors to play with their new toys that make your game harder" event. I don't hate it, especially since its brought in more casual players so the pool is a lot less sweaty. But its still harder and basically the same game for killers, that much is true.
exactly, plus the side objective can act like a bit of slowdown for gens, if they are doing the plates they arent on gens.
Not to mention if you poison the tables you mess everything up for them, regardless of how annoying it is.
Quick queues too lol
Yeah, its a bit of slowdown for gens, but they get a huge buff, its a double edged blade.
It does mean if your playing a killer who can't pressure easily, your gonna struggle.
But gotta love quick queues tho
The game is balanced for both sides, the only problem imo is swf.
That's why everyone is climbing over each other to play survivor.
waiting until my duo gets off work to truly test I’ll be back to gather my thoughts
I mean, they cannot bring another killer-sided Anniversary Event in a row when they also release Jason as the Killer. Killer Queues would have been even more enormous. In the end, at this point Killers have to suck it up if they want to play the event. Or they just play the regular queue and just enjoy the cakes, did the same as Survivor last year because I did not want to deal with Remote Pallet Breaks or other stuff.
Happens, it is only an event and it will only last a limited amount of time. And usually the Devs dont change anything about it, give feedback afterwards and thats about it.
Once again, it's SWF > Killer > SS. A lots of these things that seem strong on paper are only going to be good in a SWF. I have never seen anyone do the dinner table thing when the team needed it.
All these new accounts flooding the forums spamming threads instead of replying to existing similliar topics.
Just play normal queue if you don't like it, the events more than fine as killer.
People suddenly start caring about balance in the events the moment it starts to favor survivors a bit. What happened to "Chill out it's just a goofy event."? I ask because that's all I ever heard in previous events.
Literally, like suddenly people desperatley coming in to cry with new accounts on the forums of all places.
This would be true if morsel plates weren't 2 seconds away from the banquet tables, or if poisoning the table affected more than one survivor
How long do you want killer queues to be? 30 minutes? An hour? Also, did you suddenly forget that BHVR just released one of the most busted and unfun killers ever? I am normally very sympathetic to the killer side, but anyone complaining that killers have it tough right now clearly does not play survivor.
This 100%
Go back to threads about last year aniversy and its people being like "just don't play it its a event mode" Moment it switches to being more survivor sided "WAH the devs are always catering to the survivor side while ignoring the killer role, how could the devs do this" while as survivors where told last year " just don't play the event"
You mean to tell me they made a unbalanced anniversary like they have last few years? Shocking
Only difference is its not the killer role benefiting.
The game is not but the event very much is.
Actually basically every Killer main myself included wanted BHVR to remove the pallet break because it made chase unfun. But we also wanted them to maybe remove Party Pallets from being able to save since that was really obnoxious with even a 2 player combo.
There were some Killers who said things like this but honestly mostly everyone knew that it was a problem. I think the main thing though as well is that at least both sides got powers to play with, even if the Killer one was just objectively better. In this event Killers have basically nothing to do other than poison carts every once in a while.
After the Blood Moon was just a total chore for survivors, this event is at least fun. If killers want to win, normal queue is still available and you can use your cakes there too (if you have any).
i just noticed that lol
Double standards as always, just like in the wake of the DBD Twitter.
As far as I can remember, the last 20 events have all been heavily in the killers’ favour (apart from the Halloween one three years ago, I think), and the moment there’s even the slightest thing of interest for the survivors, the overreacting and whingeing starts.
Moreover, the poison available to killers in this event is particularly strong; it basically ends the chase in an instant because the survivor just starts walking.
2v8, the most popular and frequent event is objectively survivor sided
I'm glad some folks thought It should be toned down, but especially last year saw a lot of defending the event because you don't have to que into it.
I just think when a lot of players are going "its a event mode you don't have to play" like I saw last year, devs may look at that and be like "alright so the community is fine with unbalanced events because they can just play the normal mode"
Wow a three week event that you don't have to play is totally the same as the devs intentionally designing the base game so killers win more often than they should.
2v8 is explicitly made to be a casual chaos mode and is so different from normal dbd you are almost playing a different game. While I agree that it is mildly survivor sided its not nearly as survivor sided as its made out to be and my personal kill rates in 2v8 are still around 60%.
2v8 is a gamemode and not really an event. And it is known to be imbalanced. AND it has to be survivor-sided, because Survivor is the way more boring role for it, since even with everything they added, there is nothing new to play for Survivors. Killers on the other hand can play with a teammate.
If 2v8 would not be survivor-sided (personally, I dont think it is by much), Killer queues would be even longer for it.
1: A single event, whatever sided it might be, doesn't prove anything about the overall game.
2: In the case of new things to do: the killer side has 42 possible options for play, the survivor side has 1. It's not really surprising that they try to focus on more things to shake up the survivor side.
3: Jason's impact doesn't need to be amplified by an event.
back now the portals are super broken and fun to play as survivor. The gen speed and teammate haste are by far the most boring and dull
