This game is all RNG. Do you get to the pallet or not? Do you vault or not? Is it skill based. Sometimes! Is it rubber band based? Absolutely! Every chase can be destroyed by a sudden rubber band. I just accept that my high from getting some distance can be destroyed entirely randomly.

No, I don't think that's the right one. I think it's more of a ringing sound?
I found a clip from the other day of one of my games. I figured out how the sound works. It looks like there's a minimum distance for it to trigger, additionally the audio cue does not seem to go off if you have the camera or character facing at him.
At 30 seconds on my clip you can hear the sound weave in and out as my camera flutters off of him while he's aiming.
You hear the sound at 55 seconds right before I get hit.
You hear it again 1:38.

I'm starting to feel the brunt of some of these latency hits, it's like the server can't handle the load from the event. At this point I'm not even waiting for my first step after a vault to think I was clear, I wait for the 'thunk' noise as the killer hits the wall. So many times where I get two entire steps from the window after a successful fast fault and I still go down.
-
I have a line that I use every time I go against Sadako when I'm playing as James.
"I'm about to show this little girl what a true monster is."
Then I proceed to smash her face in with an entire forest one pallet at a time.
The combination of being James with that power phrase against Sadako has insured I've never once been killed by her.
She definitely needs help. I applaud the tenacity but she's taken more blows to the head than a professional boxer and at this point I kind of wish I could give her the Mary treatment, just so it'll be over for the both of us.

I flashlight click the heck out of everyone. Flashlight click the killers and my survivors. I know that a lot of people see it as toxic, but if killers didn't see it as toxic that would be even better. I'm not sure why I do it, but I'd still like to be on decent terms with the killer by the end of the game, and if they DC after I flashlight click I do feel kind of crappy.
But it's like. It's just there's no real way to emote or gesture or do anything in this game? Our only way to really exist is through flashlight clicking or teabagging. Now obviously I don't tea bag, but I just love to click click click. At pallets, right before going down, before unhooking the fellow survivor, in between skill checks while working on gens. It's just really really fun to clickly click.
Again, I know some people mean it as a mockery, and I know that killers may see it as toxic. But I'll keep on using my flashlight despite that (Not because of it.) If there was a way to signal, 'No toxic, only clicky' I would. So far my method has been to click it towards the sky when using it at killers, a few killers have made comments in the post game saying 'I saw the bat signal!' which means it kind of works some of the time.
I like to teabag ghostie, he does it back, lots of fun. Greatest insult is a ghostie that won't teabag back honestly. I've only ever hit people on hook when I was beyond tilted, and then I promptly made that my last game for the day.

Oof yeah, this exactly. I miss trials with killers who are closer to where I’m at so I feel like I earned a win or played a good match even if I end up sacrificed. Playing as killer has been gen rush after gen rush
Yeah like I know once I start finding super hard sweats I'll be singing a different tune. But man it's like, so many killers today since even know what a safe tile is? Looped a pig for almost an entire minute today and it was like "please just break the pallet. I feel like I'm abusing an infant here."
I feel like I'm spending more time privately commenting on their inefficiencies and no time consoling myself with "unlucky!" declarations when I go down.
-
I've been getting a lot of baby killers. It's nice to win, makes me feel powerful, but even the people who are getting 4ks aren't very good. They're just tunneling and camping then letting altruism do all the work.
Usually I can find a few killers a night that are so good that it feels like nothing I do can stop them and it feels very desperate, each gen is a victory. Haven't seen that in days though.
-
I have like a million of the things. I'm using them because A) It automatically reequips, B) More blood points is neat for me and everyone.
Look at it this way, I genrush because that's literally the objective.
If I get 25,000 points for a normal game and escaping that's about 157,500 points if I'm not mistaken. If I get a full 32,000 points that's 201,600. That's 44,000 less than optimal. But I'm entirely happy with 157,500 points honestly. Not to mention games can be as short as 10-15 minutes. If I were to deliberately farm, that would take way longer and would be incredibly boring especially in solo queue.
What if I don't sweat though? Why I've had games where I've been camped and tunneled out at sub 5,000 blood points. My average 'unfun game' being around 5-8k. Which would be 31,500-50,400 after the flan. Which even at the upper end is 100,000 less bloodpoints than my 'genrushing' game.
In summary. I'd rather lose 44k potential points and gain 157k by playing optimally, than risk 100,000 points by trying to farm and realizing very quickly after a snowball that the killer wants to sweat.

I bet you're excited for the day we get a bare chested clown huh? It'll be like a match made in heaven when we run into each other in the fog.

Dredgy. Still waiting for mommy dredgy waifu cosmetic.

I like being able to make a chase last without using a pallet. It makes me feel so skilled to look back at 2-3 pallets I could have burned but didn't.

An Oni slugged me 3 times while I ran no mither yesterday. For that game he became my favorite killer.

Yeah...I hate it when people do that.
As an aside, if you're going Pop, replace PR with CoB when you get it. His amazing sustained mobility, pressure and information reliance makes CoB so, so good.
I'd also drop DR for Discordance when you get it.
Currently, I'm having a blast with a CoB/Pop/Discordance/Devour build. Defend the Devour totem and it's GG.
What's CoB?
Oh call of brine.

Honestly the penalty should be harsher than it currently is. Wouldn't stop d/cing completely, but it's a little too lenient imo.
I feel like the penalty is pretty reasonable. I have a friend who rage quits with regularity, and it's really not long before their cooldown is so long that they can't play with us for the evening. Working as intended.
-
MMR goes down i'm having fun, MMR goes up I'm no longer having fun. The balance is losing enough to maintain a low MMR and winning enough to feel like you accomplished the thing.
-
I've DC'd at the end very rarely. A couple of times it's because I'm already on the hook, I'm dying, and it's like 'Okay I get the picture. Yeahyeah I died. Then I see the cooldown and realize 'Ah crap that counted as a disconnect. I was supposed to wait until the post game screen.' It becomes more likely if I'm playing several SWF games in a row where I can spectate and bounce between spectate and post game lobby relatively quickly and I forget that I have to wait to access post game lobby.
The times I left after just being tilted to ######### was just like not really a conscious thought it's just, 'I don't want to see this anymore.' It's not really a 'take power from the killer' thing or a way to have the final hurrah, it's just 'Whatever I don't even care I'm past this #########.' and then I leave. If I get to that point I don't even wait out the cooldown, I accept that I've fully tilted and do something else with my life.
-
'The Uroboros.'
-
I don't play killer at all, the game is way too toxic. I had fun with dredge but my MMR went up too high and now I'm getting 0-1k every game with a ton of teabagging. After the last two days of endless sweat and post game mockery I decided to retire killer again. Not my scene.

Well there is going to be a masquarade skin, that's for sure.
I think I can imagine the picture in my head, but also it wouldn't really work because of how dredge's model is. A wide blob with a long and smooth head and just smoke/fog instead of legs. I think Artist has long dresses and long necks covered, but one made from smoke does sound nice. But again, wouldn't work for dredge's model. And I guess lore also.
I feel like lore-wise it can sort of be stretched a little bit, I mean I feel like some of the cosmetics we've got have just been a mix of fan service and 'Yo that's just really cool' like Legion's all four merged forms.

Oh are they an artist?
I strongly wanted to ask an artist friend of mine to sketch out this idea for this thread. A companion to it so people could see what I meant.
Unfortunately they're already doing an FFXIV commission for me and I can't just keep throwing more stuff at them.

Technically since Dredge is both male and female wouldn't it mean that Dredge is a Hermaphrodite?
I don't think what's beyond the void, so to speak, is really that relevant for a conversation about cosmetics. That's kind of a non-canon thing that I'm sure is left for the players to decide on their own.

I was playing as Jane with the red/gold top from the New Year event and red shorts. Couldn't work on gens because I had to spend so much time running across the map to unhook or pick up. He finally got us all by slugging two and popping out of a locker while I was rounding the corner down a corridor. I did find one thing that sorta helps out against him and it isn't on the chopping block for nerfs because it just got a buff.
Distortion. BBQ is just a powerful perk on him because it keeps him constantly onto a survivor after hooking because of his map traversal. Also his perk Darkness Revealed and at least one of his add on's reveal you quite reliably. Until Dredge use cools down it's part of my kit instead of an exhaustion perk. I've taken off all exhaustion perks to get used to not using them anymore.
Oh yeah that wasn't me. I don't remember there being a jane at all.

I know Nightfall was made darker after PTB feedback. And it's a fun mechanic, and a scary one. But really I can't see a GD THING when it comes down. If you need to mend from BT, forget about it. I was in nightfall on Dead Dawg which is a light map visually. Nightfall came, barely could see the Dredge. I threw a pallet, he literally just walked around it and killed me. I could not see where he was around the cactus and tents. Our team only survivored because the killer was new to playing Dredge. At the end of the game we powered the gates and nightfall happened again. Literally no one even went for a door. We couldn't see them. We all hid and waited for nightfall to end before we got out. Dredge on RPD is a NIGHTMARE. Starting the map on nightfall was horrible. And while I had to run up and down flights of stairs and down long corridors to unhook my team or pick them up from the ground, Dredge simply teleported to a locker I had no idea about. And because its a hallway with sharp turns by the time you realize what locker Dredge came out of you've run into him. Team died with 5 gens up. I haven't experienced that since 2018. Needless to say, I went into my settings trying to brighten my screen. Nightfall is like the Dead Dawg map when it was a first released and bugged to be dark for some viewers. Is Dredge OP? NO. Do I enjoy going against him? Also, no.
I had a game exactly like that last night on RPD, I can't help but wonder if that was the game I was in but you're right about RPD being really powerful for dredge. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people experienced that.

Are you aware that the reason you often get curb stomped is that you play against better survivors? Not to mention killers that are new automatically start at a subpar mmr level. The more you win the stronger survivors you will face, not to mention you will start facing people who actually know how to play against the dredge. Anyone can send a screenshot of a 4k it means nothing, like actually nothing on your skill level.
Respectfully, it means a lot to me because I am not the kind of killer that reasonable gets 4k's often or ever. It's a sign to me where the killer himself is balanced to be at, and not indicative of my skill. If I were on any other killer I would not have a 4k to show off. You are right though, something I didn't consider is my MMR Would be lower on a new killer by default. I know it'll be a matter of time before I get my teeth kicked in.
-
I think he's OP purely because look at this. I am not a good Killer, I often get curb stomped to hell and back with 4 escapes being almost guaranteed when you go against me. I should not be able to do this and it has happened several games tonight. I don't even have a plan, I just do things and it's working out.

I wouldn't call it fair at all.
If I follow your statement of being a person of faith for a moment, these charms are not taking away your right to believe in that faith. They are not impeding you from playing the game in any way. They are certainly not forcing you to change anything.
Now, take it from another perspective: a racist person asks "why can't I have the option to hide all Claudettes/Adams/Zarinas/Haddies/etc?" Do you see how this is a slippery slope?
DBD isn't forcing you to change anything about yourself or your beliefs. But you can't hide away the existence of others who have done nothing to you.
I mean TBH I would love an option to hide all the Claudettes, but not because of race. I've just been traumatized by newbie/selfish Claudette players in solo queue a lot. While I'm on my soap box I'd also love to hide bird momma. She frightens me considerably.

I think you underestimate how much of a time loss it is for the killer if he has to break out of a locked locker, then hit another locker, then start chasing.
I almost certainly am. I've only ever played against him twice, so I'm absolutely comfortable with being told what greater point or context I'm missing.
-
Wait how is this any different than locking both?
Scenario 1 -
You lock one locker, and he breaks it down. You lock the other locker, he automatically goes to that and breaks it down.
Scenario 2 -
You lock both lockers. He teleports to the set twice and has to break both lockers.
There only advantage to locking only one locker is that you're saving that resource for other survivors. Otherwise he can break out, 180, break the second lock, then continue the chase. Wouldn't that be considered a good counterplay against him though? Maybe that was an intentional counterplay design decision.
-
Killers constantly focus my friend down who mains David. I don't think it's because David is gay though, it's just because my friend is the obvious weak link and a lot of killers don't want to deal with me in the early game whenever there's an easier fish to fry.
-
I want to see the autoban system go live to see the meltdown of the community as everyone starts to execute each other with reckless, salty, toxic abandon. They'll undo all the bans within a week and go back to the drawing board (Didn't they do that with MMR?) but oh man it would be a fun week to watch.
-
I stopped after 2 games with him. Couldn't handle it. i don't like the reduced FOV.
-
This is what I do.
Convince a few friends to buy the game or play with some that are super low mmr.
Kick a baby killers teeth in.
Repeat until rank 1.
-
I really prefer they not make a big deal about it to be honest. I like representation but these companies patting themselves on the back for doing a good deed and get social cred always rubs me the wrong way. Like I enjoy well made LGBT characters, but I'm a lesbian and not really exceptional for it.
I just exist as I am and it's not a big deal, I don't want it to be a big deal to anyone. I just want to feel like a normal person, like I blend seamlessly together with every other normal person. I get why companies do make a big deal though, they want to make sure they get a good return on investment by capitalizing on it, but I won't really pay it any particular mind if I can help it.

Oh man I love going against Pyramid Daddy so much it's unreal. His power is so strong against me, my man is carrying an entire bakery around and tormenting me with the sweet delights it offers. I don't think he's boring at all, if anything he's overpowered. I love when he takes his strong arms and presses my squirming body against a hook to take me out of the game, if he doesn't do it I get so upset with him. The other day he refused to hook me, which made me rather cross with him if I can be honest!

I somehow managed to flashlight stun an Onryo while she was in the middle of carrying another team mate. It wasn't even a traditional flashlight save, she just let it happen then promptly DC'd.
I felt like a monster.
I think this is only kinda related to your topic but I needed to get if off my chest.

Each use of dead hard gives you a penalty of -1000 BP. Maxed at 10,000.
-
If you're trying to get used to her I'd say record it or find a video of it. Play it in slow motion, rewind it, play it faster, skip around. Just really analyze it and try to break it down to the most analytical way possible. Desensitize yourself by exposing yourself. Try to analyze the creation of her, imagine how the modeling, textures, and rigging interact. Imagine how the wireframe would look in an animation, people methodically putting in frame after frame to make it jump at you. Consider her an inanimate representation of a system created for recreation and fun. Modeled in a quiet, clean and artistic development studio.Try to think of her as less of a person, a creature, or a sentient being. Just a simple triggered animation based on a calculation fed through RNG.
If you're bored you can try to write a small paragraph or two from the perspective of Onryo if she were a character in a story. Detail very briefly a more playful attitude about her doing the jump scare. Maybe a more whimsical tone like a kid hiding behind a door to say 'Boo!' and laughing when you get scared. Make her seem harmless.
Try to wait out jumpscares and clap and cheer for her, 'Woo! You got me. Good on you!' if you separate it from scary you can hopefully associate your mind with it being more fun and lighthearted than 'AH ######### SCARY!'
Hell throw a single frame into paint and start cropping parts of her and dragging them around, realize that someone modeled that eye, that hair, that smile, and you in your little paint project are doing exactly what they are (With a less refined program.)
Something like this
Then play the game and get scared anyways.
