  • Every time I get a skill check doctor I get tunneled out I'm so annoyed. They literally turn gens into a fun challenge then deny me the opportunity to prove my worth.

I keep getting on the hook, a friend says "merciless storm" and I find myself wishing "doctor! Stop camping please I want to prove I can do this! I didn't spend hundreds of hours on rhythm games to be treated this way!"

It's the worst kind of edging.

What gets me is seeing people desperately reporting Kate Densen’s lack of chest jiggle in the bug reporting section. Like bruh… just sad. There is always a new report on it

Oh my god there really is a bug post about it.

    It was filed as 'acknowledged.'

  • Whichever map I end up solo queueing on.

  • I saw a Meg at 100 prestige and all I could think was 'God damn she went through 5,000 Bloodwebs holy crap that's patience.

I'm almost at the point of just paying my room mate $10 to spend my blood points for me while I do literally anything else in the world. I keep hitting cap and just playing through it anyways because that's the least fun thing in the world. I've even tried asking friends to get on Parsec and spend them for me because they keep watching my stream and commenting 'You should spend blood points between games so you don't lose them.'

    Like please make it stop.

You're playing James Sunderland NOT JANE SUNDERLAND. Gender swapping is making something that is originally one gender into the other. You're not playing MIchelle Myers you're playing Michael Myers because Michelle doesn't exist and it won't make sense for her to exist.

You're not playing Male Ada Wong or Female Albert Wesker you're playing Ada Wong and Albert Wesker, you're not playing MALE Jill Valentine, you're playing Jill Valentine.

Lore is important especially for Licensed characters you won't just go around and make gender swapped skins out of the blue without contacting the License holders.

You can do a Female version of Pinhead because that exists within HellRaisers lore but you're still going to need clearence from the license holders because you're going to be basing that Female character on pre existing character.

Yes I understand that there are licensing issues, that's why I only mentioned those characters at the end with a preference toward in house killers. I would never suggest BHVR just reads this thread and go, 'Oh yeah Kara had a great idea. Quickly art team! Draft us up a Hell Priestess, no not the real one! Just Pinhead but female. Nobody tell Clive Barker.' I don't believe BHVR will decide to expand licenses for that in reality but it's nice to dream and I'd like to have a productive conversation about that as a fun hypothetical.

  • @lemonsway said:

No. It completly devalues the character. Michelle Myers does not exist... If you say yeah you're right Myers can't be gender swapped then you have to apply the same principal to every other killer, especially Licensed killers.

You could possibly do a female Ghostface if it wasn't for the fact that DbD's GF is a brand new male character with his own back story. You'll have to rewritte the characters backstory years after he's existed to fit a new secondary killer that can be female so that you can sell a female GF skin but even then you're probably gonna have to get aproval from the FunWorld still.

Legion is fine because their concept already incorporates this, most every other killer doesnt. Female Blight or Male Artist won't work unless you reestablish the characters backstory.

You can't just go around genderswapping things just because you feel like it. Where's the context? SO if people want a shirtless Myers skin can we gender swap the shirtless Myers skin and have half naked Female Myers?

Well do we really need extra lore? James Sunderland, Sheva, Chris, Cybil, Jonathan, Hunk, Chatterer, and many more don't have any lore.

You just pay $10 and you get them. The lore aspect is a really strange thing to get hung up on when BHVR has examples in the past of not doing so previously.

Fundamentally, they are not making new characters. It's just a skin.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    Oh you mean like... Legion?

Exactly like Legion. Honestly I'm not sure how compelling having gender swap legions would be but I laughed at the idea of having 10 members of Legion so I threw it in there.

  • I tunneled a few times and man it is addicting. I feel badly but it's effective as hell. Turns the rest of the game into something I can be more chill about

  • A powerful, balanced and fun killer is one that lets me 3-4k each game I play them, but let me escape (Just barely) when I play against them.

In all honesty it would be challenging. People's opinions are skewed so hard in this fandom

Because with MMR there shouldn't be 'bad killers' that deserve to get curb stomped. Only Killers paired with Survivors at a similar skill range.

Right?! At this point the funnest part of DBD is streaming to friends and laughing at the absurdity of it all. 'Oh first hook of the game and they suicided? GG.' 'Oh! I'm getting face camped. Is my only option to suicide? Or can they capitalize on those 2 minutes of hook time... let's find out together!'

    @rinnai said:

I've noticed the trend is significantly higher when a killer runs Lethal Pursuer in a solo q match and gets a hook within 30 seconds. This is usually when players go straight to a DC or Suicide. I don't have stats on this but pretty much most games just become garbage after that. Devs should understand the impact of their changes but who knows...

I've been running distortion, so I should keep my eyes on that. Loads of people are running lethal.

Hmm - so if I average about 1 fun game in 10 with all the sweat and bs maps/build/attitude this game promotes - I could still save time just dying on first hook in the suck games and be into another lobby mere seconds later to have a shot at that 1 in 10 game.

    Actually! ACTUALLY!

    I do.

Mostly for FFXIV, and lately more original works, but I am absolutely in that sphere. I first really got into it by writing some real uh... ill advised Silent Hill fanfic as a teenager back in my Gaia days. But I've absolutely developed as a writer since then, even been published in ananthology once. I recently posted a fan-killer concept on these forums with an entire 8000-word backstory if you're ever interested. The killer is a college professor who gets involved in one of her students lives with a strong desire to help her succeed.

Posted about it here a while ago.

If a partially nude, diapered man starts power-walking towards me with a hatchet, you better believe that I am going to be terrified for my life.

So you're thinking fully fit, ripped to ######### dude wearing a diaper and using a weapon. Kind of makes me think of Richard Trager from Outlast if they had one instead of an apron. Oh actually how about a character that's similar to Titans from Attack on Titan but in a diaper. Now that you gave me an example I can totally see that working out. I rescind my earlier point, yeah that would suck to go against.

Also! Just remembered, Witches from Left 4 Dead have something similar to one.

  • @BenOfMilam said:

after we get the vore killer, can we get a diaper killer?

Like Pig, except you poop yourself instead of dying

I don't know if a diaper killer would work. Antagonists in horror wearing diapers isn't typically an element you see in mainstream media. I can think of times adults in diapers were used in comedy (Like that Yakuza scene.) but I don't believe there's much that scares people about a grown man or woman in diapers. Normally that visual illicits laughter towards an otherwise able bodied person in a humuliating position, or sorrow when it's someone who needs them (Like someone who's in hospice.)

I can think of Killer concepts that could wear diapers and that would work, but not because the diaper adds anything horrific, just that it would 'make sense' for the killer to have it. But those concepts would work just fine without it.

I'd accept being entirely wrong though. Just because it's not my phobia doesn't mean it wouldn't distress others to go against (Which is the point after all.)

I was being only semi-serious myself, but if you want to get into the evolutionary psychology side of things, very few things are as primally disturbing as the idea of being eaten. More than the general concept of death itself, or of the other various forms of violence we see in DBD. This goes back our earliest, and even pre-human days, for reasons that should be obvious: we spent thousands of years not just trying to survive, but specifically trying avoid being eaten, especially eaten alive.

This is why many people find the Clown's mori (which is just the suggestion of wholesale consumption), while being far less violent/brutal than most, to be the most unsettling.

But like many things, for some the flip side of existential terror is sexuality, and sometimes, for some people, the two things get intertwined. Consuming/being consumed is no exception.

Of course, this might be an argument for its inclusion it in a game that is supposed to instill fear.

God the idea of being eaten alive is downright nauseating. There are a few times that you see something like that just browsing the internet. Even putting movies aside (And without going into too much detail) I've sometimes stumbled across clips of wild animals eating other ones, and my god nature just does not care about it's living or dead status. As long as it has meat, and it can be torn off, it's good to go. Pelicans eating things in one gulp? Hate it. Saw a clip of a komodo dragon eat an ENTIRE animal like it was nothing. Man the other day in real life I saw a spider make it's approach on a struggling praying mantis that landed in the web. It filled me with so much existential dread to see something so full of life about to die just like that. (I of course freed it, I have pictures too! But I won't clog up this thread with that.)

To continue, you're entirely correct, the idea of being eaten as a human being is dreadful. Being eaten alive, while still conscious, screaming, and struggling, the concept of potentially being alive inside and feeling being digested. Like whoa, god I hate it so much. I feel all sorts of things that I can't even describe in words. I'm sure most people do.

Realistically though that's why a vore killer is perfect for a horror game like DBD. Horror is a great way to face our fears and discomforts in safe ways for acclimation or exploration. For a current example. I absolutely can't stand the Artist. I don't mind birds but the body horror of artist with the bird-like movements upset me so much I look at her red stain and never her face. Don't even get me started on this horrific sounds. I swear sometimes when I'm trying to sleep I hear those howls echoing in my mind like a song stuck in my head. I'm sure I'll get desensitized to her one day.

You have a great approach to the concept and discussion.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

    I'll humor this.

It could only manifest as a mori, you'd think. Unless the killer just nibbled off a bit at a time as an alternative to hooks (like PH's cage) leading up to the, uh, final consumption. Or Devouring? And what about the in-game effects of being partially eaten? If the killer ate a surv's arm (for example), would they get permanent hindrance?

I don't think any of this is likely to happen though, for myriad reasons. While perhaps...exciting for some, it might cross a visceral line for a lot of other people.

Also, would you consider the Dredge's mori something akin to vore?

I did just have a visual of the cookie monster in game eating survs like they were cookies on Sesame Street, so thanks for the laugh.

Genuinely great ideas. See now I have my mind set towards some monstrous being like the earlier exampled Lamia. I was thinking an alternative way of hooking made sense but I never visualized it quite so viscerally until you called it 'The Final Consumption.' (God how upsetting would it be to be a survivor that finally hits death state, and the consuming killer just shudders before you hear the death bell. Absolutely wretched!)

I'd love to see this monster going around, survivor being dragged with the killer as it goes on to attack other survivors. Maybe there will be a relatively easy way to disable or stun the killer to pull out the consumed survivor. I imagine the killer's speed would be reduced. There may even be an interaction with the eaten survivor that if performed right may allow them to get themselves spat out so other survivors don't have to rescue them.

Lots of ways to go about it realistically. I'm thinking that it could be like Wesker's or Pyramid's infection/cage thing. Where once a survivor gets enough of X unique status effect they can be consumed. Could be saliva, could be venom, could be any number of concepts that reward good counterplay.

As a side thought, I'm not sure BHVR would bother with limb removal, too much remodeling and programming.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1scyTnscTRDl1oJajEQicLs2Exs4jDsy4/view

That link is to the entire concept, story, perks, power, addons and even concept art. Fully organized with a proper table of contents. The rest of the post is simply the overview.

If you have any questions or feedback I'd love to talk about it.

    Overview

The Doppelgänger is a Skinwalker that uses eldritch magicks to steal the appearance of unfortunate souls. Using the power of Isolation, the Doppelgänger forces survivors into a shifted plane of existence where their fellow survivors cannot see, hear, or help them while the killer wears their faces like a mask.

Her personal perks, Hex: Supervision, Don’t Leave Yet, and Still Out There, allow her to monitor survivors’ shared auras, block the Exit Gate, and use the survivor’s paranoia against them.

    Difficulty Rating: Moderate

    Power: Isolation

When the Doppelgänger’s power is fully charged, the killer can activate the ability ‘Steal Form.’ This will change the Doppelgänger’s appearance to be that of the survivors for 60 seconds.

Stealing a form will ‘Isolate’ a survivor into a shifted plane where they cannot see or interact with other survivors. Stealing a form will trade the survivor and killer’s positions. Isolated survivors are affected by the Oblivious status effect and hear a Lullaby.

Isolated survivors will become temporarily visible and can use the ‘Unhook’ action within 6 meters of a hooked survivor. Isolation ends automatically after 60 seconds.

Isolated survivors see eyes rip through the fabric of reality whenever they disturb a crow that will watch their every move. The Doppelgänger will see Aura’s of the eyes.

    Power: Steal Form

When a form is stolen, it will put the killer into a ‘disguised’ state to non-isolated survivors. While disguised, the killer is granted Undetectable. Press the Activate Ability button to unsheathe your weapon and drop disguise. The Doppelgänger’s movement speed will be 4.2 when disguised.

Use the Activate Ability button to disguise again anytime there is an isolated survivor.

When using a stolen form, the Doppelgänger can interact with generators and perform healing actions. Any interactions with survivors will fill up ‘fake progress’ that will vanish once the Doppelgänger lets go. Any cooperative action will incur a 50% penalty with ‘fake progress’ filling in the penalty until five seconds after the Doppelgänger lets go.

When using a stolen form, the Doppelgänger can fast vault. Whenever the Doppelgänger does a vault for the first time within a single Isolation, she will gain a token.

Her first token will raise her movement speed to 4.8.

Her second token will raise her movement speed to 5.2.

Her third token will raise her movement speed to 5.6.

Tokens will decrease at a rate of 7 seconds for the maximum token achieved. Each subsequent token will fall off at a rate of -2 seconds compared to the previous token.

  • Plague and Artist so I can be their starving and screeching baby bird.

  • I want to agree with OrangeBear here. CI is incredibly strong. With CI in play I regularly see 2-3 hooks before anyone's even gotten a single gen done. It also opens the door to some severe snowballing. After CI fade's it's like the game finally 'starts' and you've already got hooks on you, injured people, and momentum. Sure the map opens up, but it's harder to capitalize on it when people need heals, med kits are used, unhooks happened, someone's in a chase. Etc.

  • 15 meters is stressfully close if you're a survivor but impossibly far if you're the killer.

  • Someone made a bot to open loot boxes automatically after spending hundreds on Overwatch. They were banned if I'm not mistaken, then unbanned.

What I'm saying is. If bloodpoints cost cash it would probably be forgivable. Unfortunately they do not, so you'd be using cheats to give you an in-game advantage. Suffer with the rest of us.

  • If I'm tea bagging I want to be tunneled. No idea why anyone would complain about it except to be ironic.

  • I say this not to you the player, or any other hag mains for that matter.

    Good.

I hate hag so much it's unreal. Objectively it's not fair that one killer can be entirely gutted with a single perk and I get that, in a way I sympathize.

    Alternatively. To hell with Hag.

  • I've run a stakeout/hyperfocus build 10 times. At worst I was barely getting enough procs, at best I did a single gen in 40 seconds (With toolbox) and got a hatch escape anyways. It might be worth it with SWF or if you were better at skill checks, but for just me solo queued it was pretty meh.

  • When you are playing as a survivor you are 25% responsible for the teams success.

When you are on Killer you are 0% responsible for their success.

Wow, the killer gave up on camping in 30 seconds? I doubt it

Well they gave up after a minute, the extra time made sure they were still on first state when they gave up.

  • The other day I managed to sneak into the basement while the killer camped just outside. I used reassurance and instead of pulling them off the hook just waited for the killer to give up on camping and leave.

    Felt like a good use.
