Oh boy let me introduce you to this lovely person called Jonah.

I'm thinking I should read Jonah's lore, huh?

  • What I want to know is why isn't James Sunderland a killer?

My guy has killed more people than Legion (who have only killed 1/4th of a person each)

  • I've been on both sides of this one.

Im a bit iffy on the Hex. On the one hand it could be a hex that goes game after game with 0 use because survivors just didnt bring any aura perks on the other hand if someone brings Bond Openhanded it becomes extremely strong. Especially for a hex perk that can already be cleansed it being entirely reliant on survivors bringing certain perks seems very very hit or miss. Personally dont go anywhere should still activate in chase because how often will you be in chase for 20 seconds in the exit gates.

Her power is probably the best thought out killer pretends to be a survivor powers because she seems to very much benefit in chase being almost a more lethal legion with less crowd control which means her power doesnt get absolutely nuked by being in a SWF. Im not sure if she would be too powerful against solos is the only thing because a strong stealth and strong chase might be oppressive.

Addon wise, the notebook sounds absolutely hilarious to meme around with and just saying ######### this Im a survivor now, the Hatsune Miku refrence sounds really strong considering how effective she sounds in chase I could easily see it getting the full bonus 30 seconds every isolation in the hands of a good player, A Fathers Love also sounds absolutely nutty since you could easily use your power in a deadzone of somewhere awkward then immedietly head back as soon as youve swapped to down them, Masters degree sounds extremely fun and intresting and if she wasnt as strong maybe could be basekit.

I do have a few questions though. Can isolated survivors work on gens and also how do you pick who to isolate like is it a random survivor when you use your power or something like old freddy where you get in range of them for a bit. And does "Any cooperative action will incur a 50% penalty with ‘fake progress’ filling in the penalty until five seconds after the Doppelgänger lets go." mean it looks like 2 survivors is working it when it is actually gaining the progress of 1 or does it look like 1 survivor while only gaining the progess of half a survivor.

To answer your questions. Isolated survivors would be able to work on gens. I feared the idea of just isolating and forcing a survivor to do nothing for the full duration with no counter was going to be both oppressive and boring. The big takeaway from Isolation is that they will have difficulty in cooperative actions in addition to the general chase differences.

The power would be activated on command. You'd pick a survivor, they'd get a little glow around their edge to indicate that which one is selected then off you go to enjoy your best new you.

The generator progress would look look like the progress of 2 people working on it, but once the Doppelgänger lets go the real progress would be based on 50% single survivor progression.

My thoughts on Don't Go Anywhere not activating in chase was that sometimes the Killers and Survivors will meme around at the exit gate for funsies. If it activated during chase there may be a chance that it unintentionally activates. But I suppose it's cancelled out by 'If you're running this perk just don't enter chase with survivors at the exit gate.' If I can be completely honest, I entirely forgot that Bond existed when I made Hex: Supervision. We'll probably have to nerf it a bit. (But then it might not need to be a Hex at that point.)

I'm delighted that you caught the Miku reference!

Thank you for taking the time to offer thoughtful feedback.

  • @JoByDaylight said:

Wow, I'm impressed with the work you have put into this. Well done!

I unfortunately don't have time to read it all now, but looked over some of it and this is very interesting.

The Hex perk seems very strong though and completely counters my build, I always run Bond since I'm solo q haha.

I hope others have more and better feedback than I have :)

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. That perk honestly did feel a bit overwhelming with perks like bond on the table. But I thought that hex perks are supposed to be game changing strong to make it worth the risk of it getting cleansed.

In a real game situation it might make more sense for it to be limited to 5-6 second aura reads per activation for things like Bond, Blood Pact, and Kindred.

So you want Winston from Overwatch

Kind of, but Winston is smart and uses technology and has a whole character art involving heroism and nobility. He can even speak English.

I just want like a Gorilla of normal Gorilla strength and aptitude.

  • A Gorilla killer would probably drag a survivor by the ankles instead of carrying them over their shoulder.

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

NO I just want a gorrila. No fancy power because gorrilas dont have powers. Just a gorrila that does gorrila #########.

I mean compared to a human a Gorilla being a normal Gorilla is a power. A Gorilla simply racing towards you while beating its chest and shouting is a typical Gorilla behavior that puts the fear of God into you.

  • Man I'm just thinking of the viscera of a Gorilla Mori where he just grabs a survivor by the head and swings them around violently with rage monke noises until splattering them on the ground with the force of a thousand suns.

  • I wish they had a practice mode that let you instantly regen health so you can practice looping with a friend. Self caring/COH between every chase gets boring.

Darkness revealed is good? Don't I have to search a locker for that?

With Dredge darkness revealed is great and synergies excellently with his power. Even without dredge it can be a game changing perk.

  • Blink to get where they are, then second blink to close the deal.

    image.png

The idea with the survivor is they break line of sight, then they do something 'unpredictable' to throw you off. With your two blinks you want to use the first one to clarify where they are after breaking LOS and then the second one to get the hit.

  • Pretty sure it already does that. I minimize to kill the sound and tune back in when I hear I loaded in.

  • I wasn't having fun as survivor anymore and neither were my few friends who'd play with me sometimes.

    So I played Killer.

Then I got bored of that too.

Now it's been FFXIV, DJ Max, GTFO and I can't believe I'm going to say it... but potentially League of Legends. Haven't installed it but my friends are trying to get me into it now that I have the time for a new game. My friends said that as far as toxicity goes LoL is no different than DBD So I'll be right at home there I guess.

  • Hmmm I wonder if I will get tunneled if I go prestige-less. I'm gonna try it out.

Edit: Whelp didn't get tunneled but I remembered why I stopped playing survivor since the update.

  • Hmm. Is playing normally or camping/tunneling worth more BP?

  • My flex is having really good headphones and getting blinded. 'You think my being blinded makes you have power over me? Tracking by sight only happens right before the swing.'

Also 'Oh I screwed up, wait they screwed up, wait no I screwed up, they screwed up again! YES!'

Then it's like 'Ha! I mindgamed your mindgame against my mindgame! Neither of us have any clue what we're doing but you don't have to know that.'

    Yeah sure!

I hope you don't mind but I brought along something that makes me happy for the adventure.

  • It's a good perk. Sometimes I find myself in periods where I just don't know where anyone is, and can only do my best guess. 'Oh well this person was unhooked so they probably hid here... this would be the next closest generator. I chased someone off a gen at 30% like 20 seconds ago they might be back, could be hiding...'

Then I turn, open a locker, and instead of guess and check with the potential to miss someone playing immersion I just beeline to someone.

Sometimes it doesn't work, but it does often enough that it's game changing.

  • I'm just going to say. I'm playing a meme nurse with 1 blink, base 4.2 speed and 4.6 on blink hit. My perks right now are trail of torment, bamboozle, mad grit, and sloppy butcher.

I am regularly getting 1-2 DC's and on top of that I'm getting a ton of suicides on first hook.

Nurse is only easy because just like my Pyramid posting, people take one look and want to kill themselves.

  • I think at least 95% of us are playing at a level that the small benefit or detriment is worth maybe a +-.5% in kill rate. If that.

  • Can we just killswitch all the killers except for Pyramid Head? Oh my god I think I would just faint from all the special attention and time with my #1 Pyramid Daddy oh I'm getting all excited just thinking about it now.

BHVR Please let me have lobby offerings for killer preferences. I just want to spend an eternity in torment.

  • I spam flashlights and blinds. Often times it backfires because it loses me valuable distance. The reward is that I get to use the clicky click noise maker with the flashy lights. Others can flashlight spam, it doesn't bother me. It's technically an interaction with the survivor.

  • @fulltonon said:

So this is the result of all the effort survivor put into the game to make nurse easy.

It's genius. Inflate the nurse kill rate, everyone starts playing her. New killers agree it's easy because survivors keep giving up. Then with the perception of new nurses and the new data combined they'll finally be able to justify nerfing her into the ground.

  • @Milkymalk said:

    Sorry, I was being unclear.

What I meant is that what you said sounded like you appreciate them training to be a bully squad.

I guess it's always nice to have goals in life. It's infectious to see others improve themselves.

I can only hope that by the end of their training they're happier with winning than I am sad to lose. That way the total happiness in the world goes up.

  • @Milkymalk said:

You say it like that was a good thing.

When I play the Killer I want to be bad.

  • Had a person accuse me of hacking because I knew exactly which locker they were in. I just have really nice headphones and a fantastic amp to pair it with. I heard the very faint squeak of a locker around the corner and just guessed right on my first attempt.

  • Actually! You know what. I'm just gonna finally do it. After sitting on it for like 6 months I'm gonna bite the bullet and post my Doppleganger fan concept.

Let me add some final polish to it and I'll post it here. I have the day off.

  • Did you just go against a pig player that denied your DS with a mori by chance?

  • Saw a dead hard in the wild the other day. Man I feel like for all intents and purposes this was perfectly timed but I still swung straight through it.

How were her teammates doing? Was anybody doing gens? Were they all going down instantly while she was able to run you? That might be your answer. Survivor matchmaking has been absurdly frustrating since the patch.

That's honestly probably what happened. I kind of assumed that with their skill disparsity we just had one pro herding a bunch of newbie friends to victory, but it may have just been matchmaking wanting everyone to suffer with the weirdest MMR we'd ever seen. (the #1 player and the #1 worst player combine to make one average player right?)

  • As a Killer I saw a Nea the other day who was by and far the best player on the team. I went on one chase with her, she clicked, teabagged, and connected every stun she could. I was thinking 'Oh man this Nea is dangerous, I need to be careful with her.'

I gave up on chase after breaking several pallets and moved on. A minute or so later I ran into her again and secured the down. Put her on hook and she suicided right there.

'What...? But why? You guys were beating my ass. You were doing so good!'

    Confused as heck.

Can you share your build? I'm interested what an 18 min long slowdown build looks like these days.

I've been using Thana, Pain Res, Overcharge, and Pop/Merciless Storm. Also Susie's Mixtape and Filthy Blade. But I'll change up my addons a bit depending on my mood.

Goal is to keep everyone injured for full thana, anytime I see a gen that's progressing well I kick it. Try to use the heck out of my scourge hooks whenever available. Simple stuff, very mindless, very fun!

  • @RakimSockem said:

Why would anyone WANT a game to be 18 minutes. That sounds miserable.

I went ahead and recorded a couple of games. The first two were kind of short and boring for obvious reasons, but the last one was a real game. I time stamped it in the link for you, it lasted about 20 minutes. These people were pretty good, and you can see as a killer I'm honestly terrible. You could probably make a several hour video essay on how many mistakes I made. But it was nice because although I'm not amazing at the game, I still stood a chance and had the time to be allowed to make those mistakes.

    Will I always get a 4k? No.

Should I? Absolutely not! I will be getting 0k sometimes and that's fine.

But I am having fun now, and I'm actually standing a solid chance. Feels so much better than 'Oh first down and three gens done. Yeah you can t-Bag. Oh I guess the games over.'

    Enjoy it while it lasts

Nothing lasts forever. I give it maybe a week, but I'm certainly having a blast while it lasts and I encourage everyone else to give it a shot too. Especially if you, like me, had some bad surv games and you just want to have a few simple yet fun games.

  • @MikeyBoi said:

You shouldn’t be relaxed playing a killer that hardly takes any skill to play, and 18 min games sound very very unfun especially in a survivors perspective..

Low skill, low pressure, lots of fun. Why shouldn't I be relaxed? Is this not a game meant for entertainment? This isn't even a game with dedicated ranked.

Also as a survivor main I wasn't having fun since the update (but I hope that changes as the dust settles?) That's why I'm playing killer instead of survivor. But that's entirely okay too. I'm still playing the game as the way it was meant to be.

Almost all of my Dredge grabs are accidental. I'm not sure why survivors use them when they know it's a Dredge.

I just love to invade Dredge's house, take a flashbang, then bring an early dawn to his nightfall.

  • @Crowman said:

You can't really do anything about bad teammates in dbd. DBD has no real way to be a solo carry unless you can somehow get the killer to chase to you for all 5 gens and you'll still have to hope your teammates will save you if you do get caught after the last gen is finished.

Actually you have to hope they do 5 gens in the time it takes to chase you. The amount of times I've gone on 4+ minute chases without a single gen being done is staggering. When I finally go down, "why do I only see one aura? Why is Nea hiding on the other side of the map? You can see the killer isn't there. He's picking me up."

  • I'd say my precious Traingle Father but honestly I get my fix from Fanfic and AO3. I'd love to see what the writers would come up with on a less sexy and more fluffy version. They'd probably play him up as some weird edgy mute loner character that thinks not speaking makes him look cool.

Chills mans, something like this could bring horror, dredge somewhat did it but man nothing is scarier than a human

Absolutely. A human that is chasing you with your own face. Wearing your clothes. Pretending to be you to your friends. Your friends that can't even see you on the ground bleeding out mere inches away from them while they happily work on a gen with your Doppleganger.

Wow that is such a small detail I didn't notice

I like the idea of her doing bad and awful things just because she knows it will be over soon anyways( terminal illness) she knows she will lose nothing.

and for the "Survivor goes invisible and cant be seen"

do they get notified? i think if they didnt get notified they are invisable it would work better against swf. because then they cant call it out

My thoughts were this killer would fall into B tier, great at destroying solo's, but suffers on SWF. I liked the idea of Isolation causing the entire survivors perception to change. Similarly to how Freddy has the dream world or Dredge has nightfall.

I love the concept of "you are alone and nobody is able to help you. Run." And making it feel as frantic, desperate and upsetting as possible. I want Isolation to feel like a horror cuisine, with the distorted audio cues, the ever approaching shrill shrieks of glee, and the panic that comes from running out of options against a person who wants to murder you while unable to call for help.

I'm sure that in a game mechanic sense not being notified could help (maybe an addon for that even?) But in the hypothetical situation that this killer could exist I would be thrilled to know that someone heard the laughter of Isolation fade in while the heart beat cut off, and they think to themselves "#########." As they know full well what's coming next.

  • God yeah the artist I commissioned did honestly fantastic work. I've worked with her for years and she normally has a long wait list, but when I gave her first dibs on this commission she immediately jumped at this one. She loves horror and never gets commissioned for it. She was excited for this piece and it shows so well.

I agree, Jackie is adorable! I am in love with how the messed up eye turned out. She's also got all these deep wounds and gashes that are permanently on her body because Jackie has taken over a literal corpse after a very violent murder. She can't heal, but her new body isn't breaking down either. I don't know if you noticed, but Jackie's old body before she stole Isabelle's is left discarded in the background of that first picture. Also that picture is framed inside the victims apartment, so every little piece of visual information is a window into the life of the victim.

  • I actually wrote an entire killer, powers, backstory (a genuine short story around 8000 words) perks, and commissioned artwork for a fan killer. I keep wanting to post it here but I keep chickening out. I had a whole doc on my PC but I'm on mobile so I'll just type the major points.

The Killer is "The Doppleganger" also known as Jacklyn Miller, she's a college professor that turned into a stalker following a terminal diagnosis. While stalking her first victim Isabelle, a former student, she starts to believe that becoming her victim and living their life better than they ever could will be the key to getting a do over on life and not having to die.

She's a stealth killer with the power of "Isolation." She is able to build her power by "observing" survivors. However the power recharges passively without having to observe anyone as well.

When she isolates someone that persons appearance becomes hers and the survivor will be unable to interact with or be seen by other survivors. They'll still be able to progress objectives. When in isolation the Dopplegangers terror radius is replaced by a lullaby of her voice that sounds like manic, sadistic and unhinged laughter that gets louder as she approaches. She won't have a terror radius or red stain but only for that isolated survivor.

    Isolation will last 30 seconds.

As for other non isolated survivors. They'll see the Doppleganger as the survivor. No terror radius or red stain while she's put her weapon away. She'll be able to interact with generators, and perform acts of "altruism" like healing that gives ghost progress (looks like it's helping while she's interacting but it's actually doing nothing and will be revealed when she lets go. will reduce progress speed if it would be a team action)

When she pulls out her weapon she'll still have the survivors form but unlike the isolated survivor she'll have a red stain and terror radius to non isolated survivors when her weapon is out.

She'll be able to fast vault pallets while using her power at the cost of having her speed reduced from 4.6 to 4.2 for two seconds.

The map would be a blend of three locations that will blend into each other, the college, Jackie's home, and Isabelle's apartment. In a way where you turn the corner into the hall from a classroom and end up in a bedroom. You go through Jackie's kitchen to get into Isabelle's living room, things like that. It will have indoor and outdoor tiles, with some indoors having a second floor. (Maybe throw in the hospital she got her diagnosis at as well.)

Here's some pictures of her. First is immediately after her first kill, second is after she's tried to reintegrate in society with her new body (right before the entity took her.) Also I'll attach the story as well. It's pretty much a final draft minus a few sentences I want to do better, plus I removed the final scene from that upload for now. If anyone actually reads it (I know it's a long read, I mean to write a more tldr synopsis) and wants to read the ending (who doesn't love murdering an innocent cosplayer?) I'll be happy to wrap that up and post that too.

  • Pyramid Daddy is always my friend even when he's hurting me, especially when he's hurting me. I love when he notices me so much, it hurts worse when he ignores me...

You think I'm not loving every second that he spends with me while I'm on the hook? Watching me carefully, making sure that nobody will take me away from him. He's possessive sure, but it shows that he wants me to writhe, squirm, struggle and scream just as badly as I need him to be close until my very last breath.

In short. He can tunnel and camp me every day.

  • You can't say John Madden for some reason. In isolation both words are fine.

  • I feel like the 'Fog' doesn't necessarily refer to the realm exclusively. I feel like it could also relate to 'brain fog' as in the Killers and Survivors are both in a kind of haze. The survivors are probably summoned in a random outfit in each trial, and at a glance they recognize their outfit and don't think twice about it. More specifically they probably don't think about how they got there or what they were doing before entering.

  • If the survivors have 99nd the gate you've kind of already lost them. Letting them 99 it and come back to you gives them chances to make huge mistakes. The alternative for a gate that immediately regresses is survivors just opening the gate and leaving instead of doing last minute risky plays.
