What’s your favorite?
I'm pretty sure my answer is the same as 99% of everyone.
2 is my favorite. Followed closely by 3.
From there I would order it from best to worst; 4, PT, 1, Shattered Memories, Homecoming then Origins.

Do you play silent hill?
I have yes. 1-4, homecoming, origins, and shattered memories.

Do you normally get executioners this much?
Honestly no. I've seen 4 daddy's today, this has been a fantastic day. My inner fangirl can hardly take it.

But it's by definition cheating considering you have to modify the game to do it
If you can't do it on console
And it's not allowed in tournaments for a reason
It's defs cheating you can view it as something different
But it will be fixed eventually because it's 100% cheating if you can't launch the game and change it from a setting within the game then it's cheating no ifs ands or buts
If they start banning, disciplining, or disallowing it from the game I'll stop doing it.
Though I'm not sure that argument completely applies here. There are a lot of things you can't modify on consoles versus PC on nearly all games, primarily graphical settings. PC games often have the function to turn off motion blur, bloom, and vignetting wheras consoles do not. It's to the point that if a game doesn't have a plethora of advanced graphics options it's typically notated in reviews as a downside to the PC version.
Additionally tournaments even on DBD ban a lot of things that are allowed in fair play, like the amount of D strikes or Borrowed times an entire composition can have.
From the sounds of it, I think you and I would find an agreement in what cheating is 99% of the time though. This would just be the exception.

The bare minimum you owe people in an online game is not being a selfish cheater who cheats. If winning is that important, go find a singleplayer game.

DBD is wild in that you can come on the forums and admit to cheating and even brag that you like cheating and nothing will happen to you
Try that in any other game forum and so how long before you get banned
That's the core difference though. You consider it cheating.
I don't.
I consider cheating things like using programs to change the way the game is designed to be played, speed hacks, wall hacks, things that give instant gen completion or unlimited bloodpoints. Those are things I consider cheating and frown upon. Incidentally, if stretched res were something that required any of those 3rd party programs to do, I would frown on it myself.
However because it's something that I can do within the limitations of the game, it's not cheating, and just becomes a personal choice. Literally anyone and everyone can do it and it would take seconds of your time.
In short. I hate cheaters. I don't consider stretched res cheating. Others might, and that's okay if they believe it is. But that's just a little window into another perspective if you don't mind too terribly.

Everything being a distorted aspect ratio looks better? Uhhuh, sure.
It's basically cheating regardless of how much you think people being jerke makes that fine. Because everyone not playing with a broken resolution has to suffer for YOUR need to have an uncounterable, invisible advantage.
I'm honestly fine with using it regardless if I can justify it through the cruelness of my fellow players. Even if people were perfectly kind, I'd still be using it. It's just one extra layer of 'I don't owe anyone anything.'
And yes I'm not lying when I say that I think it looks aesthetically better. I'm already admitting I also like the advantage it gives, why would I later have to lie about liking how it looks on top of that? I don't have to hide that I like it for functionality purposes. I like that extra head room. 16:9 feels claustrophobic as heck, and I know this is a horror game but after so many hours you just don't feel fear anymore. The gameplay loop is all that matters.
-
I use stretch res. It genuinely makes the game look better and it makes it easier to play. Why wouldn't I use it? Because people say it's cheating? The same people that hate noed, dead hard, the meta and everything else? The same community that will mock me in post game chat for winning or losing when I'm on killer? The same community that imposes an unwritten etiquette just to bully new killers?
Yeah why would I spend two seconds limiting my enjoyment of the game because the most toxic community I've ever played with told me that I'm rude to do so.
-
Awww yeah, it's all coming together. First game of the day!
-
Pig trap pops are so rare it's like everytime I get a headpop with pig there's a moment of, 'Whoa whoa what the hell? Holy crap she just died. Uhh... what? Okay then. I guess. Chick is just dead now.'
-
I really like Wraith's elephant noise
-
If I did something cool during the game I consider it a win.
I once looped a killer for 3 gens and then they camped my hook. My friends tried to save me but I begged them to finish the gens and leave. They rescued me and I got tunneled out but they finished the gens before I died all the way.
I'm very casual and so are my friends. We aren't a sweat bully squad, we're just dumbasses. Cool feats like that are not common.
I lost, but I felt like a winner.
Another time after the gates were open and everyone left. I went to the pig and beckoned her to the basement. We sat together while the end game collapse finished. I gave many boops until I died.
Pig is so cool.

Boon totems up. Everyone is fully healed up. I hooked someone. I saw one or two people hanging around the hook waiting for me to leave. I hit one, the other goes for a rescue. The person I hit gets a burst of speed to a tile and I hear a loud noise ping right behind me as someone goes for the rescue. I turn to hit the rescuer. Nah son BT face tank.
The rescuer T-Bags me trying to bait me into a chase. I don't know where the first person I hit went, but I see the one who just got unhooked. If I leave them their heal time will be about 4-8 seconds. Oh look the first one I hit is already fully healed. Am I supposed to just chase the fully healed rescuer now, knowing that both those hits would be wasted if I didn't capitalize on it?
Of course I'm going for the guy who is already one hit from death, before they have a chance to run to a boon and fully heal. I'm not a complete idiot.
Get to end game, 'BG killer tunneled and camped.'
Honestly the way I see it. If I try to go out of my way to avoid hitting the rescued, but the rescued deliberately moves to absorb a blow with BT. You lost your right to complain about being tunneled. I'm not trying to be the most skilled, the most meta, the bestest most fairest killer. I see the easiest path to kills, I take that path.
Make it unprofitable or prohibitive for me to play that way and I'll have to change up my methodology.
-
Everytime I see Clowning I feel as if for a second Clownisking is back.
My head canon is that it's hit alt, but I know they're probably different people.

I don't think so. They don't even seem to be banning hackers honestly.
-
I didn't make the list? Damn. But I've got such an award winning personality and everything.

Kill the AFKer, try to clean up the team. Sometimes the survivors will get angry with me for not going easy on them, but honestly I don't want to play a game where I'm obligated by social etiquette to just stand around in a corner because their team mate screwed them over. Kill them quickly, I can get to a real game sooner and so can they.
-
If I'm not mistaken, they haven't even admitted it's a growing problem? I haven't been keeping super up to date with it.

Friend 1 "Killer is chasing me."
*Wait 20 seconds*
Friend 2 "I thought they were chasing you!"
Friend 1 "They were but then they stopped."
Friend 2 "They're on me now."
--
Me "I'm downed on a pallet someone come get me."
Friend "Okay okay I got it."
*Friend gets seen and gets downed too.*
-
Me "This killer is just camping, leave me to die. Finish the gens, get out of here. I don't want to feed."
Friend 1 "We're not gonna leave you!"
Me "I swear to god I'm just stalling for time, do NOT save me!"
Friend 2 "We got it!"
*Killer proceeds to snowball and gets an easy 4k.*
Me "I said don't come for me!"
Friends shrug, "I don't care."
--
Friend "Oh man I can loop so good! Check this out!"
*Scream 1*
*Scream 2*
*Only 5 seconds passed*
Friend "Okay I can't loop at all."
-
"Does anyone know where the killer is?"
"Yeah Southwest side?"
"Where is that?"
"It's like behind the main building!"
"What does that mean?"
"Nevermind found the killer"
*Screams of dying intensify.*
-
"The door's 99'd come on come on!"
"I don't know where the doors are."
"It's by that one generator you know that one we worked on together."
"I don't remember that one."
"Oh found the door, ######### it's the wrong one."
-
"I found ruin!"
"Where?"
"Uh it's by that one generator in the corner. In the bushes."
*30 seconds go by.*
"I can't find anything?"
--
"Can I get a heal?"
"Sure where are you."
"In the basement next to the gen."
"Dude I'm there where are you?"
"I'm right there I don't see you either."
"Wait what? Are we in the same place... I hear you grunting in pain. Did you go upstairs?"
"No I'm right on the generator. Working on it now."
"Oh! OH! Okay I see where you are now."

Once when I was playing with a friend of mine, they were on a hook and the killer was face camping them. There were two other survivors alive that were healing each other before trying to go in for the save. I spent that time 99ing a gate to make sure we had an exit strategy in mind after getting them off the hook. They started flipping ######### as the 1st state became a 2nd state, telling me 'Risk, risk, risk get over here. Now. I'm going to hit struggle. Ignore the gate get me off this hook.' I told them I wasn't moving in until the others were done healing.
The gate got 99'd, the other survivors healed. He hit struggle. We got into position, one survivor took the hit, I pulled him off with borrowed time. The idea was he eats a hit with borrowed time, then I walk behind the two injured people body blocking on the final push to the exit gate.
But he just stood there.
Got hit, borrowed time proc.
Got hit again. Downed.
Picked up and DC'd.
'Dammit Risk I told you to stop messing with that gate, this is what happens.'
Me and the other survivors got out clean. My friend got tilted at me for letting them hit struggle and told me I wasn't a team player, and that next time when they tell me to do something, I do it. I tried to explain to them in depth the logic of 99ing a gate. 'Dude what if I tried to go for the rescue solo? Say I got you off and didn't just feed a free hook, where would we go?' They refused to see my position and they logged off angry. Put a bad taste in my mouth to be talked to that way so I stopped playing with them.
Moral of the story?
99%ing the gate absolutely can backfire. Friendships are at stake.

-

So has James for that matter. I'm trying to figure out if he's missing teeth, or what's going on here.
-
I mean yes, VHS isn't about DBD. There's an off topic forum here for that kind of discussion.
-
My dude. Have you considered just... not playing? Like instead of rage quit DCing just like, stop touching buttons. Minimize the game, go to the bathroom, get water. ######### on the hook. The only times I DC from rage quitting are like moments when I've been playing a long time, realize I'm tilting and want to be spiteful to a basement bubba. Then I realize I'm taking it too seriously and do other things. That maybe happens once a month? If that? There are non punished options to exit a game early you know?
-
Boon totems don't work with soul guard. Proof I just recorded like 10 minutes ago.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDHgg3Ru7KY -
I keep hitting people, thinking they went down, walking away and 'Oh wait she's alive.'
-
And what do you do for Legion that tells them you're a good player to go against.
When I play Legion this is how I know survivors are 'good' by my standards.
1) Will sacrifice themselves after unhooking someone, especially if they have borrowed time. Borrowed time is anti-tunneling, not a free hit for an unsafe hook after all. Use yourself as bait to give other survivors a chance to play.
2) Won't continue to work on a gen after I chased them off, especially if you were working on a gen with two people and picked the other person to commit to. There are other gens.
3) Doesn't act like a jerk, teabagging and flashlight saving, or really any 'toxic' behavior
-
As killer I'll show them I'm giving them the hatch by downing them, walking to a hook as if I'm going to hook them, then turn around and keep walking. Otherwise I haven't really 'given' them the hook, they earned it.
As a survivor? I don't trust any killer, I've had enough pretend they were giving me the hatch just to hook me and laugh in post game. You'll need me in your arms and give me the hatch before I trust that you will.
-
Thought this was a good one
-
I'll sometimes give pity hooks and let myself get killed. There are a surprising amount of killers that refuse to though, easily over 50%. Many will shake their head, or down me then drop me at the exit. More than once I've had to wait out the ECG if I really wanted to give them the kill, but sometimes it feels like BMing if I have to wait too long for it.

But survivors can just re-blessed the totem again and again
Survivors have to spend time blessing totems. Killers only have to exist to get Noed activated. Bones.
-
Just do bones.
-
I like Jonathan, my man screams like he's passing a kidney stone the size of a golfball. It's beautiful and in the whole 2 or 3 games I played with him I absolutely stayed close by to hear the symphony of his shattering body.
God damn I might buy him just to wail at strangers.
-
I recorded some KYF games to show the killer where we the survivors were at all times and what we were doing. Seeing how we were hiding, losing them, looping etc. Absolutely helped their game tremendously. Within 5 or 6 games (replaying in between each round) they had improved substantially. Way more than they would have without seeing the replays.
I'm all for that feature.
-
I've started playing again after a month break. I've seen a lot more sandbagging, from me, on accident. I feel so bad.

People really dislike Blood Pact? Maybe I'm biased as a medic-build main, but I absolutely LOVE Blood Pact.
The other day I was playing with a friend who ended up being the obsession and we learned someone else had blood pact too.
It was crazy because I never see it
-
Freddy main is censored too
-
Blood pact?
-
You literally just spent the past five to fifteen minutes actively hunting these people down with the intention of murdering them and all their friends. Despite all the odds with an evil pursuer on their tail they managed to get to safety. Wouldn't you mock your tormentor too once you've taken the position of power? Take a moment to tell them 'I'm still here!'
I don't t-bag at the exit gate, but I like this idea the most because it's just an in character justification. In reality the consensus is they're just being dicks.
-
I will absolutely sweat as much as humanly possible and play as toxic as possible if someone gets from 1st hook to Death hook in a single go.
Sometimes 1st hook to Struggle is acceptable as a strategy, especially if Ruin is in play or I'm snowballing and they need to regroup. A hook state lost in 30 seconds is better than losing 2 hooks states in the exchange. But just letting people die? When I'm not even close to the hook the entire duration? Ho boy, that is when I become an agent of revenge for the lost survivor. If I get my way nobody is leaving.
-
I've been running into "subtle" cheaters. Yesterday I went up against a doctor who was just holy ######### fast. Like I'd hear his terror radius and run to the next tile and he was just there. Hit me, I'd use the burst of speed to get the hell out, proc lithe too and turned the corner he was just there. I have played enough games to know that he was "subtle" cheating by being faster than he should have been. Went to his profile and saw several people comment the same thing I witnessed. One of those was from last year.
Been seeing survivors who I would unhook, refuse to get healed and just work on a gen, then get fully healed while working on it. No anti hemmoragic agent either.
Had a game where 3 of my hexes were destroyed within 4 seconds of each other. One survivor was on hook, another was being chased.
I watched a dude dead hard then sprint burst away. He only had dead hard on.
These have all been within the past two weeks.

4:3 resolution is not the same as stretched! Playing on a 4:3 monitor does not distore the picture it just cuts off the sides.
But DBD has a big problem if you force a 16:9 monitor into 4:3 format it does not cut off the sides like it should do instead it renders more stuff on top and bottom of the screen.
DBD is a non competitive casual game [...]
If its so casual then why are most people abusing every mechanic to win? The sad truth is that this game is for too many people too important.
But I just can't believe this is the thing people are getting so riled up about. An aspect ratio.
If you watched the clip you can see that its cheating. Its long time not about an aspect ratio anymore.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2506104#Comment_2506104
Wow. I have no words. Should we respect rapists next who admit their crimes? You say you dont defend people but your first few senteces litarlly do defend cheaters! Devs said its a not intended and should not give an advantage, which means its cheating. And devs make the rules. Pretty sure they just dont know how to ban people for using it and I hope I just gave them the ability to do so.
I wish so much that BHVR fixes the resolution bug then we WILL see how many liars will return to vanilla resolution because they dont have an advantage anymore.
I don't know how to quote just one sentence but I'm responding specifically to your comment about about how a 4:3 isn't the same as playing stretched. Maybe I'm confused, but I'm playing with the settings right now and I'm really quite sure that's all there is to it. See here I'll show you three pictures. One of them is demonstrating the game just forced to a 4:3 resolution, and then 4:3 with the image forced to go from end to end on a 16:9 monitor. They look identical.
The third picture is just a standard 16:9 resolution. The 1st and 2nd look identical in FOV to each other, and the 16:9 obviously just looks closer to the character.
I'll even show you pictures taken on my phone, there is no FOV increase between forcing it full screen to maintaining aspect ratio. It just makes Legion look fatter and all the elements wider, but the FOV is the same.
Like seriously all I did was change my resolution from 2560x1440 to 1920x1440. It wasn't a hard feat, it took me like 20 seconds. I hardly think that should be a bannable offense. This isn't on the level of hacking or using aimbot or whatever. It gives an advantage but like... if you really wanted that advantage so badly why not just do it yourself?
-
A bottom tier killer running a meme build in a non sweat minded playstyle going against people who are new and learning? Yeah sounds like MMR doing it's job.
-
I started playing Stretched Res today because everyone was complaining about it. The jokes on all of you, stretched res or not I'm still a bottom tier survivor. It's like D.A.R.E. people are complaining about it so much I had to find out what made it so cool.
