Hi, friendly killer here. And a friendly survivor. At least during events, but generally non toxic, IMO.
I'm in your shoes. There are lots of killers with absolutely no chill. It is irritating!
Mostly doctors, though I oddly haven't ran into many.
Leather face is likely to be dead serious in my experience.
Hags don't have much chill, nor Spirits.Billy's are hit and miss, but mostly going to be dead serious. I did run into one that went and killed everyone else first, and let me hatch.
Huntress is sort of rare, but they're a bit nicer.
Wraiths are usually nice sorts. Usually. I guess pay attention to their bells, and hooks.
I have ran into other friendly killers all in all. It usually takes some attempts at communication. Largely if they catch you harvesting. It's at that point that you get the tone of the trial.
Also I'd keep an eye out on what hooks they use. If they do not use an event hook, or especially a basement hook, I'd say they're not interested in being friendly this trial, and play accordingly.
if you pop into a lobby, and you see the other 3 survivors with gear, I'd leave, personally.
If they are farming, good for them. If not, I'd hate to be the reason they get sacrificed and lose the gear.
Survivors can do a lot to set the tone, too. -
Nope. Rancor's execution mode only activates when the gates are powered, and only targets the obsession.
Are the gates powered? Are you the obsession? RUN. EXIT._ Hang around at your own risk!_If you are trying to heed this advice instead of hanging around to do some risky stuff, maybe use some strategy on which gate you use? Or maybe even the hatch? Consider how you get there?
The killers can see the gate controls. Maybe try moving in an indirect way to throw off the killer? Running straight towards the gate is going to lead to a bad time.
If the killer is closer to one gate control, try using the other?Heck, I'm wishing they'd -buff- Rancor so it works if the gates are powered, the obsession is the last one left in case the survivors can't open the gates, or if it's down to a hatch play.
Entitled, no strategy survivors expecting things to be handed to them? Well, I'll relish the Mori. At least you're dying in a more interesting way.
And when I play survivor, I'm ok with that.
-
Tough question.
The clown is really great for area denial, catching up to people, and slowing things down.
If you are about to pick up an obsession, throwing a bottle at the ground can mess with them if they DS you.
I'd say of the two, Clown is way more practical, and has better utility.
The spirit has Rancor which let's you one hit down then mori your obsession if they are alive when the gens are powered, and allows both sides to see each others auras when gens pop.
She also has haunting grounds which aughta synergize extremely well with other hex totems.
Her third ability is kinda meh to me. After breaking so many pallets she auto breaks one if it stuns you.
I'd say she isn't as easy to play as. Someone said she is a blend of Nurse, and Wraith, and that's pretty true.
In terms of aesthetics, Spirit is easier on the eyes, imo, but the Clown has a really awesome mask. -
Yeah, they're supposed to slow the game down by adding another layer of things to do, but they aren't as efficient in that as I'd like.
Still satisfying when they actually go off, though. Especially when you're chasing a survivor through the gate. Hehe
I haven't played Pig in a while, especially with the event going on, and me trying to be a nice killer. I imagine people have wised up immensely to rbts.
I'd like to see the shotgun shell collar from later saw films on down the line. Maybe a deadlier version of the RBT?
-
Nah, it will do people good to get out of their comfort zones and see how the others have it.
I feel like hard leaning opinion havers can become more moderate once they understand what they want more. -
Nah, I don't play enough to hit rank 1 in between resets.
I don't go hard at it, either, and will gladly be rank 15 forever.
I did get beyond rank 10 as a survivor, though, just by playing, basically before the last reset.
I don't think I stink on ice, but I'm not going to pretend I'm great either. Just casual. -
Haha, very funny guys. No one seriously mentioning Huntress.
-
Funny.
Wouldn't call it a sin as I do not know how much you transgressed with the voice chat, though. -
We need to put more weight on the rank system, IMO.
Without it, I'd have to put up with people way above my pay grade. -
I'm leveling Laurie at present.
If the killer isnt taking part in the event, if they normal hook me, if they don't let me harvest, I will DS their asses because they are asses.
Kinda wish I had more leeway to tell, but luckily DS can be saved. -
I think I will get Huntress, and Claudette via vials.
Wraith, and Doctor look pretty wild, though. -
Points.
Lack of understanding that they can wait, do gens, and pressure the killer to leave. If they've even left some gens for that.
It doesn't matter how much health, 2nd hook isn2nd hook, or sacrifice.
Extreme altruism.
Maybe revenge, or to screw someone over. I doubt names get remembered that long, though. -
A mori is going to be a little obvious, so yeah, beware killers with a "secret" offering.
NOED won't be so obvious.
Unless they're standing idle while I harvest for the event, I don't buy friendly acts. The cat will eventually get tired of playing with the mouse. If the gates are powered, I'm bouncing unless the Killer is doing the event, then I might just let them put me on an event hook. You may want a "normal" game with a friendly killer, especially during an event, but good luck. Not all of them are going to switch gears, and they may not appreciate it.
Just lemme get my special hooks, and you can go get your points. But there are killers trying for normal games, and people pulling tricks who will keep survivors paranoid.
-
If not that, then all the network errors plaguing people. Or both.
-
Me, too, but harvesting is natural. The Entity is expelling unwanted stuff, and we're helping. After all, it's out there and easy to get.
We're kinda like pilot fish, helping get rid of, and make use of the gak.

Devs already said no more licensed killers.Damn, no shot at the Ginosaji, then?
-
If they pop in at about the same time, dodge. Help may as well not be coming.
There is way too much SWF abuse for me to trust any of them. I've decided to be far less picky during the event and my opinion hasn't changed. -
Ah, so much wonderment in this event.
Mains playing the other side, seeing the ups and downs, sorta.
Killers working with survivors.
Survivors working with killers.
Development of communications between the 2!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Almost everyone runs those perks for event hooks, but when the event passes so does the perKS
I just don't like plans, any plans, that revolve around having specific perks. The Bloodweb is still governed by RNGesus, after all.
New people, new killers, or just bad luck might mean someone doesn't have it.

Nea if she has the pixie cut. Asymmetrical shaved hair is kind of a turnoff.
Wouldn't kick any of the gals out of bed, mind you.

I try to give them subtle hints.
If I catch one, and get them on an event hook, I leave until they're rescued so I might catch the least hooked person. Might nod at the hooked person.
I might chase, and hit, and hook them, but my goal isn't the sacrifice. I don't want to get bored while they make me wait while they freak out trying to figure out what I'm doing.
Seriously, it's like chaos. And of course the most subtle hint of all, watching them harvest, and not attacking them.
At least until they're done.
No one seems to understand that they're near a flower, and I;m not trying to kill them. I mean obviously not trying to kill them.
I think maybe 2, 3 people in dozens of games got it?Really annoying when it should be obvious I'm going to an event hook, and they're wiggling. Had a meg wiggle off once or twice as I was hauling her across the map. Naturally she backtracked, and made my haul more annoying.
As a survivor, I wish killers would give me a break. I'm harvesting. You hit me, and I resume harvesting. Let me finish? It's not like I'm getting a head start running from you when I'm done.
Some got the idea, thankfully. Really nice of them, and I do appreciate it.Or, maybe take me to an event hook? Really sucks when I'm trying to help out, and get taken to a regular hook.
-
I like the perk, myself, and I think the noise dampening has saved my butt more than once, but I almost never see anyone else use it. I wouldn't mind it getting a bit better.

Exit gates from start to finish take 20 seconds to open. Sounds like the gate was already partially done with the open sequence.i actually asked the survivor after, he and no one else had touched it and he apologized for being toxic
Well if they had Hope or any other perk that speeds up actions then it would've opened quicker, not including another person having such a perk.
Wait, Hope does that?

I stated to either do one or the other not to take all of the of the suggestions. Cause it’s either killers need their speed nerfed or their perked cut backed a bit cause honestly the game isn’t fair to survivor. The killers don’t have a real complaint at all. It’s not a garuentee a win it just a more balanced game.I know you said one or the other. I stand by my post. Even individually, these ideas are bad.
You're not supposed to outrun the killer in the long run. If they can't catch someone in a chase, and even when the survivor is being dumb and running in a straight line too long, or something, then the role of killer is basically useless.
Here's a little secret. Killers don't really control their speed boost.
Killers lose speed bonuses when they have to break a pallet, when they hit you (Which gives you a speed boost), when they lose line of sight/breaks the chase. It builds up over time until then. You're not supposed to loop them forever, either. Loops buys times until you can get more distance between you, or you can get to the next loop.
It's a gamble, but be annoying with flashlights. When a killer stops to break a pallet, shine it in their eyes (aiming is required), and you're almost guaranteed to blind them. This will likely put a gigantic bullseye on you, though.
Evasion comes from basically 1 of 4 schools.
1: You break line of sight, and hide. Killers do not see well. This works unusually well. Duck in a corner, slowly go into a locker, etc. Don't wear bright neon clothes, and expect this to work, but hey, killers have bad eyesight. You never know. Learning how to hide is a really good thing to do.2: You use the speed boost you get when hit, sprint burst, Lithe, or Balanced landing to put enough space between you, and the killer that you break line of sight, then you stop running, and maybe hide so the scratches go away. The killer, eating your dust has to find you all over again. More oft than not, they give up on going after me entirely for a while.
Lithe really helps me doing this. I can usually control when I use it, and there's decent opportunities here, and there.3:You loop them, and lead them on enough that they get frustrated and go after someone else (not always useful as killers are persistent), or you manage to slip away while tricking them into thinking you went another direction, or such.
3a: You dodge them some. Use obstacles, look behind you and veer suddenly as they swing, etc.
Neither of these options are supposed to last forever. You're buying time, and trying to break line of sight.4: Some survivors are good enough to pretty much vanish through some crazy stuff I haven't figured out. Maybe because as a killer, I have bad eyesight.
As for aura reading perks, survivors, and killers have many between them. If you're worried about aura reading, study how long the killer's aura reading lasts. A popular example is BBQ and Chili. Fake them out for 4 seconds, then evade another direction. Hide behind a generator to muddle auras.
Almost no killer has continual aura reading. If they do it's usually via an extremely rare and powerful addon, and AFAIK only the Pig, and Wraith can do this.Work on getting urban evasion. It's ok to walk, too.
If you aren't great at evasion, try staying away from the action. At the start of a match, wait until someone gets attacked/found (it's usually some self appointed decoy. regardless they'll buy time), then move.
Any time someone is attacked, go the other way, and work on generators far away from the action.
A killer chasing someone is generally absurdly consumed with it.
Stay out of killer terror radiuses... radi-i? Heck, some killers have perks that alert you well before they get there because they debuff you outside of their terror radius. In general, play more, make a stronger survivor, and use perks that suit your needs. It doesn't hurt to learn to play stealth, and learn some killer perks, and learn to avoid them.
Focus on breaking line of sight, and hiding. -
Holy crap, these suggestions would practically guarentee survivors win, and are completely unfair.
-
I wish. I'm ok playing a nicer killer.Zagrid said:Can't we just all be friendly and let eachother farm? We all want bloodpoints and that is what should bring us together.
First run through was pretty amazing. Ran into an swf that understood I just wanted to do the event.
I didn't know how the hooks worked, but I let them all escape, and made some progress. -
Any map, or just certain ones?
I would swear I saw one using a map from a chest, but I couldn't verify. -
You obviously have not had to take people across large maps to hook them.
Survivors have it pretty easy. A flower harvest usually gives a safe section. Once the liquid flashes beyond a safety point, or the vial fills it's yours, live or die.
Of course if you're just below the line, or filling and die, you can lose the entire section. -
I would be surprised if it crossed their minds, but it is a good idea, and an excellent theory that it did cross their minds!Peasant said:@Rebel_Raven said:
It goes both ways, and it's pretty funny.Hope swf junkies face unhelpful swfs the whole way, especially.
I really hope both sides get some real insight into how bad the other side gets it, and we can get more moderate opinions for balance.
I wonder if this is why the devs made the event require you to play both roles?
Especially since as early as rank 15, killers can come across swfs looking to steamroll them, and odds are they will rank up quick.

I dragged an unwilling meg across the Coal mines map.
And I do mean across it. One end to the other, the long way! (Up hill! Both ways! In three feet of snow! *flails cane*)
It took several chases and she backtracked, likely knowing my only option was in the far corner.
"Entity displeased"? Yeah, well, put the hooks in sane locations, ya git!
I feel like survivors have it easy. Lol -

Nah its not having anime powers before she died.
That's her parents fault for not having the genetics to give her pink hair. lol
I dont think that feminism is inheritable.
Atleast i hope so.
No, I meant the trope/meme that wildly colored hair is a sign of being the main character in an anime. Inexplicably blonde in Japan, hair in the spectrum outside of the norm (Green, pink, 2 tone, blue etc.), or just wilder than usual.
-
Feels the other way around. Play quiet, sneak around, and especially burn the offerings, and it can be pretty easy to get multiple segments.
One flower is basically a segment, and a safety.Meanwhile killers have to contend with specific hooks. Have you ever had to carry someone who didn't want to comply across the Coal Mine map? I mean just a few meters short of from end to end?
I don't believe even Agitation, and Iron Grasp will let you do that. I don't have either. -
A secured kill is a lot of points, though.Master said:Piping has nothing to do with killing anymore.
You can blackpip with a 4k and you can pip with 0k (even before they introduced this bronze emblem for hooking everyone)
Possibly more than chasing the remaining survivors out while losing the hooked survivor.
A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
A dog dropping their bone in the lake reflection to get the bone their reflection had means the dog lost both bones. -

I haven't paid attention.Your reasoning is kinda terrible. You want the killer to get hit harder because the killer feels like they have to secure a kill? You'd rather them lose more? Come on. I don't main either side, and I feel that's overkill.
And these days, it might have the reverse to penalize campers because high rank stuff isn't fun for a lot of them, so they want to be low rank. It's more of a failing of the survivors for having bad timing. Your advice to other survivors is sound.
That's why the penalty they put in place is so stupid. So you can ensure you get a 0 in chaser which means you probably got low in another category so you're going to depip.
The camping punishment should have been a drain on blood points which most people care about.
Or they could be given enough incentive to leave the hook even if it means the rest get out, and the last hook kill isn't secured.
It's -really- dumb for a killer to leave the hooked survivor when they're close to escape, either with gens being done quick, down to the last gen, or the escape possible. It defies common sense. Read Sun Tzu's Art of War.
They shouldn't be penalized for doing something intelligent in making the survivors chose to abandon, or be altruistic when the survivors basically have no more objectives outside of escape.
If the killer hasn't had much luck in catching people, it only increases how hard they're stomped on.
And when you make killers have less fun, you have less killers. Can you give me one good reason why a killer should leave the hook outside of the game punishing them if they don't?

Ornaments usually have hooks on them to attach to the tree.
In Soviet Russia tree has hooks for ornaments.
Or
it's the reverse of the process to hook a survivor. -

Bald Dwight. Definitely Bald Dwight. He has a bad rep as trouble like Jakes, apparently.
If you've kept them running long enough, that might be it. If you seem like too much trouble to be allowed to live, the killer is more inclined to, well, not let you live.Kinda irked I lost almost an entire section of nectar (Apparently the lines are the safety points, and anything below that is lost) because a killer couldn't wait until I was done harvesting, I got unsafe hooked, healed some, and well, that was it.
I mean come -on-, it's not like I can get a head start when you chase me after. I swear a lot of killers have had a hook up their butts lately. -
I'm comfortable in either role, but I see where you're coming from.
I am not sure I can earn enough vials thanks to my work schedule so playing so much is tough.Maybe spend some BP made as a killer on a survivor that might fit your style more? They all play the same until perks get involved, then they play really differently.
-
So you're demanding free unhooks? Pfft.
-
I try to be nice, still.
Even vs some SWFs even though they more than likely remind me why I don't normally vs them than otherwise.Had one cool SWF that realized I wasn't out for blood. I was a wraith, and decloaked next to a survivor, and did nothing but watch the harvest. Got my ritual done, and some hooking, and then I let them go.
Chill survivors that reacted to me playing nice were far and few in between. Some relaxed a bit when they saw me not camping, rather going away from the hook at a reasonable clip. The rest gen rushed, made me drag them across the map to get a special hook.
The worst was the Coal mine map. Basically from one end to the other. It's frikking hard. It's like the Meg knew there were no special hooks beyond that corner.Had some sneaking around near one end of the map, away from special hooks. Even to the point of -1- generator being left, and 2 of them.
By and large the SWFs were largely lacking in chill. After this event, definitely back to dodging.
Bastards were probably proud they got away from someone who didn't really give a damn about killing them.I try not to go after the same person twice in a row, I might patrol, but I'm content to just find someone else. Pretty content to let them harvest.
I basically try to play by Survivor's "guidelines." All it's taught me is that it seems like doing the event as a killer is harder. -
I don't mind being low rank.
-
Time flows differently for the Entity.
We percieve it as a straight line.
But to the entity it's not linear. To the entity it's a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff.
Anna is wwi era. Nurse is more ww2.
I think the Nurses gas mask dates her later than wwi.
And the caution tape. -
I like it. It's a change of pace for me, and I'm seeing some interesting stuff.
Seeing people on both sides realize they're both doing the event and being chill.
Odd bursts of generosity. Seen killers let the last person escape, or even give the hatch.
Heck, I don't mind slowing down some. It's kinda fun when people realize it.
Like trick or treat.
Except I'm hitting them with the candy bar as a killer. A big candy bar. A big painful candybar.
Wish the humbugs would get the hook out if their butts, tho. Some people just aren't in the spirit of things. -
Hotel wiiiiifiiiii!
