As far as DS goes, what about making it so that the skill check bounces all over the screen. I mean, you are being carried on a moving Killer’s shoulder after all. It would only make sense that you wouldn’t have a precise target.I think the effect of DS itself is the problem. If you make it harder to hit the skillcheck, that will ultimately result in a nerf for the already lesser skilled players (because they wouldn't be able to hit the skill check) but the high skilled players would probably still hit it without problems.
The main problem I see with DS is that it rewards survivors that messed up while it punishes Killers for doing good.
Imagine a Killer getting 360 juked and as a result the Survivor lands on a hook the next time they get hit? That's the concept of DS, you mess up but you get rewarded for it and the opposite side gets punished. That's a major flaw in game design.
You can give the Survivor a reward for messing up, but it shouldn't punish the Killers. DS not only prevents Killers from getting a hook, it also makes them lose a point in Malicious. It instantly denies them 3 Malicious points, which is quite a lot for a single perk. 4 of them means 12 Malicious points lost and now keep in mind that 11 are required to get bronze, 36 to get iridescent.
So my solution to DS would be that it allows Survivors to escape the grasp but instead of denying 3 malicious points, it would actually give them one point instead.
Another buff could be that the Killers, after getting hit with DS, enter Bloodlust 3 and/or Survivors get Exposes status effect as a result.
This would not fix the thing regarding Malicious points though, but it would allow Killers to still get something in return for ending a chase successfully before getting DS'd.

I'm really happy that she didn't leave me yet. Always eager and very loyal aswell, not sure how I deserve that. I honestly don't know what I would do if I lost my right hand, she's awesome.

What about making it so that no survivor in SWF can bring the same perk, or bring more than two of the same perks? That would generally be a good thing to do in regards to the SWF balance. DS on it's own needs another rework though.

Driving Down The Darkness by DevilDriver is the ultimate Killer theme, probably most fitting for Hillbilly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ezuwo2mbIMEven the lyrics are on point sometimes;
Beat down through worlds
This time it's crossed the line
Beware of what's behind
Wolfs coming quick to kill you
Currents running strong
Think your right, wrong
Look, it's long gone
Look, it's long goneStick it to yourself, hold your own
Stay strong in the sight of insanityDriving down the darkness
Stricken by the madness
Praying for forgiveness
While you play god (with my life)Me against them, no stopping
Time for action not talking
If it rears it's ugly head
I'll cut it clean off
Change this, change that
Change this, change thatMy ears are burning from all the talking
Time for ######### to start walking
Stick to yourself hold your own
Stay strong in the sight of insanityDriving down the darkness
Stricken by the madness
Praying for forgiveness
While you play god (with my life)I'll pray for you, your prayers come true
That I don't come for youDriving down the darkness
Stricken by the madness
Praying for forgiveness

Dude you won't believe it but I managed to achieve that yesterday. I even recorded it, I'll upload it later on.
I didn't team up with the survivor or anything, I simply had a teabagging survivor hooked twice already so on his death hook he kinda gave up and stopped wiggling. I accepted this as a confession of failure on his side so instead of hooking him, I kept him on my shoulder and that's how it all happened. It wasn't even a SWF either but the last person said that she had to laugh so badly after being chased for like 2 minutes by me, she couldn't concentrate and lost a mindgame.
The best part is that I didn't even use Agitation, it was pure luck combined with traces of incompetence of the Survivors lol. I think everyone had fun in the end.
I'll be away this weekend so please someone has to remind me to upload it in case I forget it tonight xD
-
Wow, they carefully cut all the sequences where they'd hit someone, lmao.
Genius marketing strategy!...but not really representative! I mean, they didn't even teabag before leaving through the gate.
-
Yes, absolutely. Thing is as a psychological masochist, I like it when Survivors suck the last bit of self esteem out of me after a rough work day. I can calmly open up a good scotch and raise a glas on that pathetic life while I get looped for 5 gens, it's perfect!

Randomly hitting a Survivor after a long and rather aimless Chainsaw Sprint is indeed one of the most satisfying thing.
That's why I love my M&A Billy lol

Unfortunately, the community is full of those "cool kids".
If you want to avoid it, you can hide the chat by clicking that little icon next to the chat window.
The devs punish deathwishes and "excessive insults" (whatever this means) so I'd just report anyone that is offensive to you and let the devs decide if it's worth a ban or not.
I can just tell from experience that it doesn't really look like they actively ban people for hasassing others in the endgame chat, but maybe I'm just really unlucky so I keep facing toxic players.
-
Worst achievement I've ever seen. So glad I'm done with it.

I agree, getting pips should be way harder and depips should be way easier to get.
Tired of playing with and against "casuals" in Rank 1 because of a ######### ranking system.

Some would go, others would come back.
There would still be KYF to play with friends, so everyone who claims "we just want to have fun with friends" can do that in a KYF just as good as in a SWF.

Straight from Max Thompson Jr. diary I found in the Thompsons House;
................................................................................................
10th of February, 2019Dear Diary
Today I wanted to get my last coin for the event cosmetics. I had a pretty rough workday already, lots of strangers showed up around my house and stole my stuff, broke my meathooks. So I thought I'll take a break from my daily business and go play survivor instead. Unfortunately, I figured that there were long waiting times and my fellow Killer friends often dodged, so after a while I decided to sacrifice myself once again and play Killer. As an experienced and confidend Killer, I never really pay attention to the lobby. This time it was a big mistake._I had almost forgotten how incredibly annoying SWFs can be, I even almost built up some sympathy towards them - but after a few minutes trying really hard to just get a few hooks, getting stabbed in my back not just once but four times, after they tried several times to make me blind and after they threw dozens of pallets in my face, I ran away from them. I just left. I couldn't take it anymore, my whole body hurt. _
I spend the next few minutes trying to avoid all contact with SWFs until I realized that pretty much EVERYONE is using SWF, so I gave up getting my coins and instead went over to my neighbour at Stardew Valley to drink a few bottles of whisky, hoping to calm down.
I think it broke something inside of me. Tomorrow has to be a better day....

...they found me again. Brb killing myself...

Dis you miss how I said allow them "again"? That implies they used to and it was taken away.Any way if you are saying survivors abused it what are killers doing now? Are they not now abusing that option? So you are saying the option for killers should also be taken away now.
If Killers had the possibility to restrict SWFs from joining their lobby then yes, they can remove that option.
Most Killers dodge because they try to avoid people that use a 3rd party software to gain unintended advantages (SWF/Voice communication).
That's the main difference. Killers dodge unfair matches while Survivors dodged specific Killers.
-
@twistedmonkey said:
To the players that think dodging is fair game when it looks to be an unfun match, do you think they should allow survivors to see the killer profile in the lobby again so they can do the same?Jokes on you, this was the case in the early days and Survivors abused the hell out of it so they removed it.
-
I'd probably join the SWFs.
Not because I didn't want to play Killer anymore but because I could carelesssly troll Killers and they had no way to avoid it lol

Dude that's bullshit , not everyone bullies the killer and some people on here view escaping as toxic or just getting away from them in chases as bullying, THEY are the real problem here because those same people go and play survivor and DC all damn day because they don't care, I'm sure you don't sit there and dodge lobbies for upwards of 5 or 6 times in a row all because of an item right ? I've heard you say it's ridiculous yourself on here , now I'm not denying that they may have had bad experiences in the past but if someone wants to play this game they should play as intended and not by some made up rules they have , and I'm pointing that one at both sides. You don't have to use one extreme to justify another.
Yes, dodging just because of cosmetics or 1-2 items is ridiculous but that doesn't mean 100% of the dodges are "unjustified".
I'd assume people appreciate when there's finally a Killer that doesn't dodge them but instead it feels like they stacked up all their anger from the previous dodges and let it out on me, someone that's finally willing to deal with them.
Makes no sense to me, but happens way too often.

How am I still alive, something must be wrong with me '-.-

Lobby dodging is the result of many bad experiences.
You should've thought about such consequences before you bullied those poor Killers.

And like I said, I'm new, so there's nobody to remember me for doing something lol. But if someone seriously takes offense at something so trivial, you have to wonder at their mindset, tbh.As I said, there can be many reasons.
Some Killers also just like to camp, maybe they are bad at chases to the only hope to get a kill is by camping.
I can only recommend you to make sure not to be the first one to get hooked.

When I camp or tunnel you, you somehow triggered me.
How could I, a freakin noob to the game, POSSIBLY trigger a seasoned killer tho? I mean I get out of revenge for being a dick, but really?
Well, you don''t need to be good at the game to trigger Killers.
Teabagging / taunting, flashlights triggering or even just looping can sometimes lead to unpleasant reactions. Those things don't really require special skill.
For Leatherfaces, simply using a specific character can lead to camping because they want your face mask, especially Jakes and Dwights are often targeted for that reason.
Or maybe you've been a dick to them in a previous match and they remember you... :P

The incompetence of Survivors has nothing to do with this.
A sabo squad will know where and when to sabo the hooks.Survivors also fail 90% of the pallet stuns/blinds during pick-up animation. That doesn't mean it's not powerful, it just means most Survivors lack the skill to use it properly.
The problem is not really the incompetence of the survivors.
I have watched Tofu's sabo squad and they did a good job with that. The problem is that if they weren't trying to sabo the hooks but genrush the killer and loop him, they would do a lot better.
Full blown sabo squad is better than full blown genrusher squad. At least that is my opinion.
A matter of opinion, I guess.
It's similar to 3 gen strat docs or slugging, you focus on "preventing the opposite side from getting their objective done" instead of "getting your own objective done".
Mostly results in very boring and annoying matches because neither side is going to achieve anything good from it.
Gen rush squads are also boring and annoying but at least it's over after 3 minutes

I bring moris into matches where survivors equip toolboxes. If they play normal I hook normal. If they sabo I mori in front of the sabotaged hook.I don't get the salt over sabotage. Frankly, the best thing a survivor can do to me is waste their own time by sabotaging. It's ineffective, and they're giving up gen time by doing that. Fine by me.
And on the rare occasion when one of them manages to finish a 99-ed hook right in front of me while I'm carrying someone - well, at least this requires some skilled timing and planning, so it deserves some respect. Definitely no reason to get mad about it.
With Alex Toolbox and Hacksaw & Cutting Wire, it takes 10 seconds to fully sabotage a hook - and you can sabo MANY hooks with that.
Not really a huge time investment considering that it allows you to nullify a hook.

I saw someone getting mad over a Killer that used Iron Grasp 2.

4x slugging

They know how ridiculous the situation is, that's why nothing's gonna happen.
Let's be realistic here, if they punished people for DC at least half the Survivors playerbase would get punished on a regular basis.
Result? Shitstorms & review bombing.
They are afraid of it, simply put. They're afraid to trigger the majority of the playerbase. That's also why they'll never touch SWF.

You're dodging over intended items and perks though, I get why you don't like them and how annoying they can be but there are also ways to counter it all (besides voice comm and DS) my point is on ps4 it will kill the game totally if something doesn't get done because people aren't gonna wait forever I saw with my own eyes a entire community completely switch their group to a red dead group from DBD because it wasn't working, I was in the group to find players and ended up leaving it, that's the reality of the situation. I've played twice as much killer as survivor lately because I love the game but I personally like to play as the survivor role that's why I bought the game and I feel ripped off when I buy cosmetics and find out no killer is gonna play against it because it just came out or some ridiculous reasonYou reap what you sow.
Survivors had fun bullying Killers, Killers got tired of it and refuse to play against anything that could possibly come out as bully group.
I'm just saying how it is: No Dead By Daylight player will start playing Killer and immediately dodge SWFs, Items, Skins or whatever. They don't even know what those things are at that point...but they'll figure it out sooner or later.
Dodging is not something that's there "by default", it's something people start to do once they get tired of dealing with the same frustrating experiences over and over again, when they had enough of it and look for solutions.
It's no coincidence that everyone will end up with the same conclusion: SWF = Toxic. The solution? Dodge them.
BTW: Just because you keep getting dodged doesn't necessarily mean it's because of your cosmetics.

...if the game truly is unbalanced as bad as some people think than it's dire that we let the devs collect the data to fix the problems and balance the game? Am I right? The devs themselves (namely McLean) admitted live on stream that they are "well aware that the game is not balanced".
People dodge because devs DON'T care about balance. They are aware of it but are too afraid to balance it. I'm looking solely at SWF and DS now, as those are the main sources for rigged, imbalanced matches. Dodging is the only way to deal with it on the long run if you don't want to end up in a mental disaster.
Fix SWF and fix DS and I'm sure you'll see a lot less dodging. SWF is the main reason why Killers dodge, items and skins are mostly irrelevant unless you try to bring 4 toolboxes, because that just screams GEN RUSH and no one likes to deal with that.
...and the fact that most SWFs try especially hard to be as annoying as possible makes the whole situation even worse. Just yesterday faced one of those legendary 4x DS cancer squad. You're asking to get dodged if you play like that.

You can have trials vs solo players and still depip. Those swf guys that you say are great loopers do play solo as well and that doesn’t reduce their skill. Good survivors can organize well even without voice commSure, yes, but it requires them to actually be good. Constant map awareness is required for that.
Voice communication eliminated that criteria because you can simply exchange all relevant informations via discord / ts / skype or whatever software you use.
No matter how you twist is, playing with voice communication turns the game in "Easy mode" compared to solos.

But finding a "fair" match is already found. thats why there are ranks. The game has items to use and if killers don't like what the game game has, don't play at all and set up false hope for a game. But I understand what you mean on the other part, that's where the killer perks are supposed to come in though and slow down the process. We have different definitions of a "fair" match then.
I don't care about items or perks, it's the playstyle SWFs that triggers me; mainly because of their voice communication. They have another definition of "fair/fun match", which apparently doesn't include the Killer at all.
Tell me one thing SWFs do to make the Killers experience BETTER compared to non-SWFs? There is none. SWFs give Killers no reason to appreciate their existence. It's the other way around, they are more likely to bully Killers whenever possible because it's so much easier to do with friends and with voice communication.
If playing against SWF was a fun experience for Killers, no one would dodge.

(I made this one myself btw xD)
-
Played killer all night yesterday, straight from Rank 9 to Rank 1.
Only dodged a handful of times due to ping, but it's no surprise to me that Killers pay more attention to who they're playing against.
Not a single lobby without SWF, always at least one DS (not even kidding here) and the gen rush is absolutely insane because of the event. I also noticed that many map offerings like badham preschool or black water swamp are played.
Look, I know it's annoying to constantly get dodged but if you keep going to make it as hard as possible for Killers to get their event points, you gotta expect that people start to cherry pick to increase the chance of success. They're not trying to get easy matches, they're trying to get FAIR matches.

camping in a battle royale is different to camping in DBD.In PUBG holding a building is a defensive position. The opposing team has guns and has an equal chance of taking them out.
As a survivor on the hook you can't do anything.
it's the mechanics of dbd. its hard to explain but a lot of it feels unfair. I wouldn't compare it to games like starcraft anyway, I mean DBD is fun but it's not on that level nor is it that polished.
I get that it's different, but the general mindset remains.
Why do people expect the opposite side to care? To have mercy? It's not just camping, it's also tunneling, looping, gen rushing, flashlight saving, DS, NOED, slugging,... ANYTHING that's not purely toxic (teabagging, flashlight triggering,...) exists to be used as a method to win.
Especially since it's a 4v1 it should be expected that there is even LESS room for fairness / forgiveness than in an even 5v5. I don't get it.
4 Players play against ONE player.
4 Players expect that this one player actually cares about the fun of the 4 opponent players.
What logic is that? If anything, the 4 players should be encouraged to make the match fun for the Killer in that case. The Killer is alone, no one to communicate or mess around with. Allow them to have some fun.
-
@The_Crusader said:
Because of the nature of the game.Something like call of duty is simple and fun. Both sides have guns, both run around trying to shoot each other.
In DBD each sides have different roles, however due to the game design certain playstyles can be unfun for the other side.
As survivor going on the hook and then having the killer stand in front of you so you cant get escape isn't very fun.
Likewise as killer having survivors run in circles around structures where you cant hit them isnt very fun either.
There arent many games like that where the design causes the gameplay to be unfun.
But Dota and LoL can also be abusive. If your opponent realizes that you're bad, they will start to feed on you, merciless. It's normal, they want to win so they take advantage of your lack of skill. You're not going to blame the enemies "Stop farming me!" you're going to ask your teammates if they can help you.
CS:GO is full of campers but you're not going to call them out as "######### campers", instead you adapt and learn how to deal with them to prevent yourself from getting killed by them over and over again. You're going to playing more carefully.
In Battle Royales you're always expeting people to play in the scummiest way possible to ensure their #1. If they lack the aim skill to beat you, they're going to camp and if it works, they simply won by using a smart tactic. They avoided aim combat because they knew they'll lose it, so they forced me to get out of my comfort zone and this is how they won.
In SC2 / AoE / any other strategy game, people use "cheap" rush tactics to beat you but if it works, that was a smart move. I'm not going to flame them for using that tactic, as it allowed them to win.
I can't think of a game where people expect the opposite side to put their own victory at risk simply to provide a funny experience for the opposite side. Name me one.

Something I wish you'd have realized by now, but apparently still didn't. My profile is a representation of toxicity. How vulnerable/open I leave myself/my profile has absolutely nothing to do with the toxic behaviour of other players, it simply allows them to actually BE toxic. People are still toxic, you're just less likely to experience it when you set everything on private. That just changes YOUR PERSONAL experience regarding toxicity.
Of course people with private profiles will claim "the game is not that toxic" because guess what? How could they experience toxicity when they prevent people from being toxic?. It's like saying "The Death Valley is not that hot" while driving through it with your air con on.
YOU protect yourself from the "issue" but that doesn't mean it's non-existent.
