  • I just googled the skins and found they're going for $40.00+
  • Fortunately the devs are attempting to fix this by changing how the hook save bloodpoints are earned. In the coming patch a hook save will earn you 1000 bp. If the rescuee doesn't go down in 10 seconds the remaining 500 bp is given.

I think it happens more often in mid-low ranks. Yes, it's kinda annoying, but nothing we can do about it. Just report.
Wait... so I could actually punish survivors that won't leave by clicking leave match?
    Imagine the possibilities!
This is just on console though. Regrettably.

  • I second your opinion for more objectives I only have one question: do you have any ideas for new objectives for survivors?

The community has asked for searching for parts or generator fuel, but I'm curious as to what you would add to the game.

  • @Master So for those rank up rewards I have an idea and I'd like your feedback. What if per each rank starting at 14 onwards there was a small bloodpoint modifier for each rank. So at rank 1, you'd get double bloodpoints for example. Do you genuinely think that kind of reward would incentivize players to stay in high ranks?

    Exactly.

Well, you have a survivor main literally admit they are toxic but people will pile in here saying "it's on both sides"

I also could write all the toxic things Killers have said to me in the end screen. Literally both groups are super toxic. If you grew some thick skin you wouldnt be so mad right now

That is the textbox reasoning of a child. Who cares what some killers said or did to you. Just because some people on this game act like degenerates does not mean you lower yourself and join them in the toxic cesspool. Be an Adult, say gg and move on. Trash talking back literally accomplishes nothing.

Believe me, weather or not you trash talk me makes no difference. If you suck, I will trash talk you. If I suck, I want you to trash talk me. Trash talk is what makes online games fun.

    That’s not right.

I second your opinion, I get that we're on other teams but that ends at the end screen. At that point we're all Dead by Daylight players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DmYLrxR0Y8

  • BHVR: ", Sure Dead by Daylight has a large player base. . .

. . . but it's not new and therefore cannot be "hip" or "the next big thing".

  • @Killmaster I'll have you know that when I play killer, the only complaints regarding survivors and BBQ & Chili you'll hear from me are when I miss a token.

  • Open-Handed III plus Bond III is okay and all, but Open-Handed III plus Kindred III is where the real fun is at.

  • @BloodyNights Well, I'm glad to hear you're doing fine. Honestly, a lot of frustration from killers is a result of the deceptive advertising the game has. The killer has always been communicated to players as the defacto power role. So a fair number of people initially pick up killer thinking it'll be a walk in the park as you stomp each individual survivor into the dirt. What people are actually getting though, is an actual challenge as the survivors have such an abundance of second chances at their disposal that a single experienced person can waste large amounts of the killer's time if the killer is unprepared, which is honestly the real problem. Ranking up as a killer is very easy. I have ranked up multiple times without getting so much as a single kill. This ultimately forces unprepared players to wait long queue times for unfair matches that are unbalanced and unfun. Even when you are prepared you need razor-sharp focus in a chase as catching your foot on anything in a loop gives the survivors time to run ahead and extend the loop.

As a side note: Here are some of my swamp map tips & tricks for killers.

    • The Pale Rose and Grim Pantry each have different strengths and weaknesses to take advantage of so let's review them.

    The Pale Rose
Popularised by Ochido's infamous "Pale Rose Glitch" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6zwCTJDLK8 Skip to 0:31) this map has gained notoriety among survivor players. This being said we need to discuss the map's most prominent feature, The Pale Rose.

The Pale Rose is a classic riverboat that has been abandoned and left to rot in the swamp. As a killer, there are 4 main things you need to focus on:

    • The Crows
    • The Chest
    • The Basement
    • And the drop
The crows are an essential part of The Pale Rose. This large murder of crows resides on the upper section of the boat and whenever anyone enters the boat at all the birds will make a great deal of noise which is audible throughout the whole map. After a short time, the birds will fly back making another sound. If you have just started the trial and hear the crows cawing check for the boat. If you are not in the boat, then a survivor is.
The second focus is the chest. Just like Coal Tower, the Pale Rose has a guaranteed chest spawn on the second floor, this will attract Plunderers and Pharmacists so use it as bait. Additionally, the basement can spawn under the boat, if this happens this will cluster 2 of the maps 3 default chests to the boat, making it a great place to patrol for survivors.
Finally, the drop, ugh. This is probably self-explanatory with the Ochido clip, but be careful dropping down the center hole. I am unsure if survivors can still trap you there so tread with caution. Then again, maybe you can stalk them and unleash T3 Evil Within on any exploiters, who can say? If you are having trouble catching a stairwell survivor try vaulting off one of the railings to cut them off.

In general, the Pale Rose map has one main focus, sightlines. The map has multiple docks and the Pale Rose that you can stand on to get a better view of your surroundings. Use the enormous open areas to spot survivors (maybe even stalk them), then begin the chase.

    Grim Pantry
The Grim Pantry is a very different map from the Pale Rose. Where the Pale Rose had plenty of sightlines the Grim Pantry has very few of them. Granted, the hill that the Killer shack is on and the two buildings provide some viewing areas. However, their height is undone by the immense amount of cover, from rotting logs to jungle gyms.

The map's most prominent feature is the Grim Pantry. The Grim Pantry is the large house with multiple ramps and two stories that will always be located at an edge of the map. The main focus of this building is the lower floor. The first floor of the Grim Pantry has 2 floodgates blocking potential entry points which can make accessing the basement rather difficult when it spawns here. The lower floor contains a few pallets, a chest, some vaults, and 1-2 doorways. The area is crowded with props and as a result is easy to get lost in. Honestly, you're better off letting survivors get this generator as pursuing survivors on the lower floor is a nightmare.

However, the other house is the exact opposite. The smaller house has 1 staircase going up to the interior and 1 staircase leading down to the ground level. Due to this fact it's a great place to chase survivors as if they run into the ground level area you are almost guaranteed a hit. Additionally, this is a common area for hex totems to spawn alongside a guaranteed chest under the inner staircase.

As a word of caution: After the last generator has been repaired all floodgates will open.

Overall The Grim Pantry is a more survivor sided map as the lack of sightlines and open ground make chases difficult in most cases. Try an ambush or jumpscare for that first kill otherwise, you'll become dependent on the speed from T3 Evil Within to actually get around.

    Swamp Map Summary:
The swamp maps are unique as they are (or were) the largest maps in the game with one favoring sneaky killers and the other focusing of loud killers. Take my tips with a grain of salt and happy hunting!

  • What the tutorials are missing:

    Killer:

    • Movement tips on how to efficiently loop and quickly catch up to survivors.
    • Guide to defending Hex totems.
    • A guide on camping (when you should and when you shouldn't)
    • An in-depth guide to bloodstains and how to use them to track.
    • A better demonstration on how scratch marks work.
    • A basic power demonstration for each killer (You chase someone into a trap, hatchet aim, etc.)

    Survivor:

    • Guide on Hex totems and cleansing them (Tell survivors about Hex: Ruin in the tutorial)
    • Give a movement tutorial to clearly demonstrate the pros of cons of all movement methods.
    • During the skill check lesson, enable having the killer approach and search the generator if the player fails a skill check. (At the very least play the TR for a few seconds)
    • An event where the survivor must unhook directly in front of the killer and then be caught to demonstrate why unsafe hook saves are bad.
    • Demonstration on how splitting up to repair separate generators is more efficient whereas grouping up is faster.
    • A section where the survivor must open 5 scripted chests to find a "Map" (Green), a "Flashlight" (Yellow), a "Toolbox" (Yellow), a "Firecracker" (Brown", and a "Skeleton Key", (Pink). Then teach each survivor how to use the map and key's aura abilities, where to aim the flashlight, how the toolbox speed boost works, how to use the firecracker, and how to use the key to open the hatch.

    Both:

    • Have a brief lesson where the killer can see their "Red Stain" and the survivor can see the scratch marks from running.
    • Provide some insight into unlocking and equipping items from the bloodweb.
    • Explain how to unlock teachable perks with more detail than "Available in x character's bloodweb at level y."
  • I play survivor and killer as I enjoy how each side differs from each other. I've gotten to rank 7 on killer and rank 9 on survivor.

Usually, I prefer to play the Doctor with Barbeque and Chili III, Thrill of the Hunt III, Distressing III, and Enduring III just to farm points. However, high-rank toxicity and a recent time constraint have pushed me to play survivor or another game entirely. I like Dead by Daylight and all, but I play video games for fun, and waiting for 5 minutes just to be blinded and bullied by a bunch of strangers isn't fun for me. (Keep in mind that I normally don't aim to kill people unless they tick me off.)

That's why recently I've been mainly playing as a P3 peasant Jake Park or just playing Payday 2.

As for who's more overpowered, it's blatantly clear that the survivors have too many advantages:

    • Strength in numbers
    • Second Chances (Pallets, Self-Care, Decisive Strike, Exhaustion perks [Especially Adrenaline], etc)

      • 3 Lives to die, because getting impaled on a rusty hook is just an inconvenience.
    • Communication devices such as Skype, Steam Chat, Discord, and Teamspeak

  • Even though I don't play on gaming consoles I second your opinion as the console folks need something to keep them playing through the disconnects and low frame rate.

  • feng doesnt have stereotypes... cool

Fengs are usually toxic, varying from t-baggers to sand baggers. The majority of the Fengs I have seen fell into one of the above categories.
  • You do know that the extra health only applies if you hit them within 15 seconds, right? Just wait 16 seconds, then swing.

What is your opinion on giving the killers the option to vault a pallet instead of breaking it? (killers will still be able to break pallets if they want)
I understand that this would require new animations and is unlikely. But it could work with some new strategies and mind games. Perhaps even being affected by Bamboozle.

wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a pallet?
    The pallets can still stun.

    Tom Brady?

The Proxy/ The Chaser, she is the secondary antagonist and only appears in Slender the Arrival's scariest level: Into the Abyss.
  • My guess is he's refferring to:
    Decisive Strike
    Unbreakable
    Deliverance
    Self-Care

I could be wrong as there is no exhaustion perk in that build.

Lmfao. SWF is cheating? The most closest thing that resembles cheating in this game is that killers get to prune exactly who they want to play against. Toxic survivor in the lineup? SWF? Flashlights? Too many toolboxes? Too many of a survivor character you don't like? Survivor with more playtime than you? Survivor you lost to last round? DLC character? Dodge and roll again!

You cannot gather data from games that do not happen. You cannot balance the game when some killers are allowed to and encouraged to self-select match-ups in their favor. You cannot make a player satisfied when they are self-entitled. Killers. Are. Spoiled.

Using a third party program yielding you an ingame advantage is considered cheating according to the TOS.
Are you trying to deny that ts/discord is a 3rd party program or are you believing that voice comms dont grant you an ingame advantage?

I believe the argument many folks are trying to make is that SWF is the majority so we should focus on their wants as they are the largest demographic of Dead by Daylight players.

Personally I think swf is fine as not everyone plays SWF like Marth88 and his de-pip squad. While I acknowledge that some players play the game like this, this is not the majority. Heck, sometimes I play swf and it usually ends in disaster for me and my buddies.

Hey! We don't want more instastuff, we just want something more than just a toolbox or medkit. Nothing new in 2 years, I'm sure there's some fun ideas similar to the event firecrackers.

the devs cant balance this game anyway. they would just release broken stuff. so they should not release new items at all.

    What could possibly go wrong?
yeah we thought it would be fun if we gave survivors miniguns and mini nukes

Wait a second, "mini nukes"? INHALES.
  • My advice is to try playing between 6.00 P.M. EST and 6:00 P.M EST, @Melomanas. Between those times I have the shortest queue times.
  • Look at the user's name: "Sandbagger69", this is clearly bait.
  • Ranked play is disgusting. Dead by Daylight is clearly meant to be a casual party game so the inclusion of ranked play is unnecessary and aggravating. However, I understand that some individuals like the concept of competitive play and that there needs to be skill-based matchmaking. So what the developers need to do is add in either an unranked casual mode or add in a die-hard competitive mode that rewards ranking up and makes ranking up challenging. I get that we have "Kill Your Friends" mode for casual, however, it's not what we're looking for.

My advice to the devs for the future is to give players a history. Then, after tracking their info, match them with similar players. For example, things to track on survivors would be # of Safe Hook Rescues / # Unsafe Hook Rescues, # of generators repaired, # of Hexes Broken, # of allies healed/ protected, etc. They could track how many times a killer was stunned or how many kills they have gotten, how many hooks, moris, sacrifices, pallets broken, etc. Then just make an algorithm to find players of equal numbers and put them together. So that in the end, a bunch of noobs who die a lot and can't do gens will be matched with fellow noobs and a killer that has a low kill ratio. Meanwhile, players that escape a lot and fix lots of generators will be matched with more dangerous killers. Your thoughts?

  • @Brady They're not a streamers, but Stray Wolf on YouTube might be worth checking out.
  • @Countfunkular Death Garden is unfortunately a Dead by Daylight clone. I tried it during the short free period and it was decent but it had several flaws.

The primary flaw for myself, anyway, was that it was an almost blatant copy of Dead by Daylight. A group of 4 (+1) weak runners (survivors) have to escape the Death Garden (Entity's Trials) by using coordination to complete the objective.

Gameplay-wise the Runners (survivors) are locked in third person while the Hunter (Killer) is mostly confined to first person (there are emotes for brief 3rd person). After enough runners are downed the Hunter can execute (sacrifice) them at the Bloodpost (hook). By the way the "Death Garden" is randomly generated, like the Entity's trials.

Overall it was just a shameless copy except in the following regard:

All players had to gather upgrade parts for their abilities to increase their effectiveness.  This, and the fact that there were 2 objective varieties are the only content differences. Sure, there was also a hub/lobby you could walk around in, but that was due to the wasted dedicated servers that Dbd lacks (and needs).

It was a decent game in my eyes as I am a Dbd fan. However, I prefer the source material and the lower cost.

So with the new killer coming out soon, i've noticed a lot of killer mains are phased by her ability; saying how she's basically a combination of wraith and freddy, and it takes far to long for her ability to become useful in situations.
I'm also hearing a lot from the killers side that there getting fed up of always getting low tier killers, rather then high tier killers similar to billy and nurse; and the reason the devs won't add one, because they worry about survivor mains bombing the crap out of the game again *Like last time :| *

since then I have also noticed; compared to last year; that theirs been a pretty big drop in killer mains, especially the good ones, like marth88 and such; most mains have either given up and joined the survivors side or just moved on to play death garden, due to the devs going back to their usual roots from the recent QnA stream last Thursday.

I actually wonder whats going to happen in the future? will it gets to a point on where there's not many good mains to go up against anymore? Will the rest of the mains finally grow tired of what's going on within the game and from constantly being mistreated all the time, especially high ranking ones? Do you guys think the game will start to slowly die by then, or will the devs finally come to their senses and try to fix it? Who knows?

    It is a cycling process.
The current "baby killers" will become more experience and then eventually leave the game too.
But then already new players joined and are trying killer.

Its a never ending cycling as long as the community is growing.

And its really sad that you see the same killers over and over even though we actually have 13 killers in the game

Too true, when is the last time anyone saw a clown I wonder?

If only we could just force the developers to play survivor at high ranks, but that's impossible, isn't it?

Killer would probably let them escape out of pitty.

Okay, plan B. Force them to play killer at high ranks.
  • If only we could just force the developers to play survivor at high ranks, but that's impossible, isn't it?

  • The lore for this would probably involve the Entity creating husks of survivors out of Auric Cells, and then injecting them full of hope. Thus providing, even more, hope to take overall as now there are more survivors to sacrifice.

  • For all of the folks who get (Hex:) Ruined on Coldwind Farm let me share with you the potential totem spawns I know of (These are put in order to the frequency I've seen them)

1.) Inside of a Jungle Gym, specifically the small "nook" area that spawns usually behind a locker.
2.) Between the haybales in the haybale loops.
3.) At the base of the dead-cow tree.
    4.) In the corn fields.
5.) In the nook between the harvester ramp and the harvester platform.
6.) At the bottom of the killer shack's solid wall.

I'm tired of facing Ruin on every killer I go against at rank 9, let's nuke these totems!

  • I did a whole rant about what's actually toxic and what's not in "Off-Topic". I guess I'll post it here as well.

Honestly, I took a good hard look at Dead by Daylight, both sides and decided that a lot of what folks complain about isn't toxic. Certain player strategies such as tunneling and camping as well as blinding and t-bagging have the capacity to be toxic but aren't always such.

Now the post-game harassment is clearly toxic and inexcusable. I will admit I have sworn in the post-game chat on occasion, but that's only occasionally, after either a really bad game or I'm having a nasty losing streak. I know that other people can have bad days so I can overlook profanity as long as it isn't from the same user every time I see them. However, maliciously telling players to off themselves and targeting specific individuals after a trial is just plain toxic. If you encounter this, screenshot and report. As for gameplay, that is a bit more complicated.

The way I define toxicity in-game is "players actively ignoring their objectives for the solely because of malice towards another player." Here are my perspectives of behaviors in-game and whether or not they are toxic.

    Killer:

    • Camping
    • Camping by itself is harmless, I get it, the killer wants to defend the hook which is a viable (and on PS4
      encouraged) strategy.

    • Smacking someone on the hook while you camp them is toxic. While you wait for the hooked survivor to
die you have several options for things to do. You can break nearby pallets, regress generators, and
look for heroes. Not to mention each of these actions gives you points. So, by actively ignoring any
attempts to hinder the other players and only focusing on trying to make the hooked person feel upset this
      is clearly toxic behaviour.

    Tunneling
There's nothing wrong with focusing on injured survivors over healthy ones. It's common sense to focus
on the weak. However, focusing down a player for no good reason is toxic. I'm referring to the killer
finding multiple other survivors but only looking for that Feng that blinded them once. Now obviously if
you are running "Remember Me" or "Dying Light" then there's nothing wrong with a tunnel as the perk only
works after they are dead. In the case of Dying Light you really need to hustle killing the obsession
otherwise it won't do much for you. Other than those specific examples though, tunneling is just toxic
harassment that when repeatedly done to the same person can end in a ban if done enough.
    Survivor:

    T-Bagging

T-Bagging was difficult to decide on as it has so many various uses across different games as a
consistently available emote. However, I think I have a good understanding of the practice now. If a
survivor is teabagging in the presense of another survivor and is unaware of the killer this is usually a
friendly gesture with only one exception. If the survivor has just trapped another survivor in a corner and
begins to t-bag this is toxic behavior.
In situations where the survivor is in contact with the killer and they are t-bagging this is normally toxic
in most circumstances with two exceptions. If multiple survivors are t-bagging in front of the killer and
not fleeing they are just casual players messing around and should not be viewed as toxic. Additionally if
you see a t-bagging survivor they may just be trying to lead you away from a hook if you're camping one.
    Blinding

Flashlight blinds are a personal subject for me. Nothing upsets me more then ending a chase, finally
feeling like an actual threat when as I bend down to pick up a survivor I hear those dreaded footsteps.
This being said as long as the intent of the survivor is aimed at saving their friend there is nothing wrong
with blinds. I don't even care if the person I'm carrying is toxic or not, as long as the focus is the save then
it's not toxic. However, if you follow the killer around all game blinding them at every turn (even pallets)
that's not okay, that's toxic. I suppose if the killer is walking straight towards you blinding before a juke is
tolerable, but even then why not just run away?
    Hook Farming

I get it folks, high ranks suck and hook farming is a great way to get a burst of points while also losing a
pip. However, you're gonna thoroughly upset whoever you farm which if done enough will gradually reduce
the number of folks you have left to farm. Hook farming is more often than not toxic. The exception is
when the killer is farming you all, in that scenario there's nothing wrong with farming as you're all in on the
fun. As a general rule, if you're gonna use WGLF at least bring Borrowed Time to give the person a chance
    to run.
TLDR: If you're doing something to help the team and win, it's okay. If you're deliberately attempting to anger people outside of your objective that's not cool.

  • If you find yourself getting slugged a lot, grab it. Otherwise, I'd steer clear.

  • @akbays35 Just add a new effect to killers called "Frenzy." After hooking a survivor the killer gains the ability instantly down survivors for twenty seconds. It will discourage farming as well as discourage extreme altruism rushes.

  • @Dreamnomad What other games are you referring to when you say: ", These are all unacceptable excuses. I've played plenty of games where this is made a reality. If other game developers can do it so can the team that makes DBD. Like seriously, many of these ideas shouldn't take more than 30 minutes of one programmers time. One alternate game mode every other weekend is an easy pace to keep up with too." (Dreamnomad)

Unless you're willing to help the developers code, BHVR's lack of manpower in the Dead by Daylight group isn't currently capable of handling new chapters alongside new game modes. Just to be clear, I definitely would like to see new game modes introduced into Dead by Daylight. I just fail to see how the developers can accomplish this feat right now.

  • Theres nothing apart from reporting that will stop the jerks and bullies from being that, but I find that if you try to take the positive road and rise above it, even to those jerks, you do a great job of fighting it. Remember that positivity starts with us.

Look for like minded people if need be. Don't associate with the bad ones if possible. End game chat can be toxic but it can be pleasant as well.

We're all in this game together having fun.
You've got the right idea. Usually toxic people act toxic for attention if you deny them this then voila, now they have nothing.
  • As a survivor main I can safely say that survivors that complain after a match are either ignorant or entitled. I confess, I have complained after some bad games. However, more often than not it is my teammates not working through Hex: Ruin or going for saves that I complain about.
  • If Blood Warden becomes base kit NOED will become meta.

To answer you question, I usually run Adrenaline over Urban Evasion but it depends on your playstyle. If you play stealthy then run Urban Evasion...if you find yourself injured a lot and being the distraction character then run Adrenaline.

Question...so if the killer hooks you and you have Deliverance as a perk and the last generator popped and you unhook yourself and you also have Adrenaline...will you still have the broken status effect or will Adrenaline ignore it?
My guess is that Adrenaline will trigger after Broken ends.
