As a person who plays Jake regularly, let me just say that we are a broken people. We used to be able to remove hooks from play permanently and we had so much power. Flash forward to the present day and Saboteur has fallen from its seat of glory (I understand that though) and even with its buff Calm Spirit is almost never chosen. The only perk people use us for is to silence their wonderful voices. We have a tall stature and loud cries of pain and as such we are often tunneled almost to extinction. On top of standard killers now Leatherfaces threaten our very existence as they relentlessly poach Jake Parks to extinction for our rare flesh.
Our perks are mediocre at best, in terms of base stealth potential we are probably in 3rd place. Our one strength, sabotage, was nerfed heavily as now hooks and even bear traps respawn. We have nothing except a metric ton of trail jackets, vests, and outdoor gear.
So if you see Jakes acting strangely, it is likely because we have nothing else to do as we bide our time.

I mean, if someone like the Hag can pick up beefy bois like David King or Jeff, and jump off a ledge while carrying them with no repercussions whatsoever, then there shouldn't be a reason why survivors or killers should be slipping and sliding.Isn't the Hag "of flesh and mud"? So while the Hag looks weak and frail she is partially made of stone and dirt. Therefore, the Hag is beefier than you might think.
Good point. But what about the Legion? I'm looking at Susie specifically.
Susie gets motivated by the power of music and her bonds with her friends. It's amazing what the human body can do in certain situations.
Frank/Julie/Joe are just naturally strong 18-year-olds.Got me there. Now we just gotta know what the Clown uses to not sink in.
In a standard body of water the clown would actually float, but given the circumstances the fact that he doesn't sink in the swamp really is amazing. Perhaps he is just constantly moving to avoid sinking? After all, if he just keeps walking and pulling up his feet each time then theoretically he wouldn't sink, right?
Sometimes he stands still though. Sooooo
Time to break out the Piano Man Harmonica cover for the absolute unit.

It's silly, use a normal attack and you can't use your power, DESPITE THE FACT that using your power on someone who is ALREADY injured gives NO benefit. It's as if the Devs implemented a drawback just so they could create an add-on for it.You know that is something that has really been grinding my gears. Why is it, that after I strike a survivor and they sprint off, why shouldn't I be able to use Frenzy to catch up with them? If you think about it, it wouldn't be super overpowered as I still would get smacked with the Frenzy stun so you have some time to find cover. On top of that, if you juke me I can't see your footprints so you'll just be gone.

I can understand the urge to dc rather than face the tedium of the Legion. I don't condone dc'ing just because someone doesn't like a killer, but I do understand it. Legion matches are about as fun as listening to nails on a chalk board.Legion pretty much means tunnel and there's no escape cause they will just wait out your timer, so they are almost always tedious and boring.
And if you get slugged on top of it for their 4k, now you get to wait upwards of 4 minutes staring at the dirt instead of using that time to already be playing another, probably much more enjoyable match. What I get from this thread is killers get to be people, but a survivor isn't a person and has to suffer whatever the killer inflicts on them. There needs to be a concede option.

Is the "cheesing" as bad as folks say it is? I'll be honest, after seeing a video on how the practice works I decided to try and test it for a match. I swapped in Bloodhound and then in-game I just couldn't seem to lose the survivor. By the time the chase was "over," they were so far away that I'd need a Frenzy just to catch up to them again and the Bloodstains were nearly gone. From my perspective, it looks like all of this hysteria is unnecessary for an edgy teen that can run quickly for all of what, 30 seconds?
It's far worse when it's mixed with Frank's Mixtape and Stabwound Study, giving you like 10 seconds or so to mend..
Ah, so it's not so much the Bloodhound perk as it is the Add-on combinations? Interesting. I imagine that when the developers say that they'll adjust Legion what they really mean is that they will nerf certain add-ons.

I've played a fair bit of Huntress so I can say that she is definitely overrated. She's a great killer most of the time, but she definitely requires skill. I've played a bunch of matches against more experienced players and when you are on an even level of elevation the skilled survivor can usually endure if there is a loop they can seek cover behind. However, much like the ending of Revenge of the Sith, once you get the high ground (such as a hill) she is much more dangerous (assuming you can actually throw hatchets well). Her biggest weakness is that she is map dependent. On large maps or maps with boulder loops especially she is a downright awful killer. That being said, on smaller maps, she can wreck house if you can aim right.
Basically, she's RNGesus's mother. If you get a good map and survivors of your skill level, you're golden. Otherwise, things might be difficult.

It serves no game purpose, it solely is for bm, so yes it is toxicThat's the standard by which true toxicity is uncovered. Blinds and stuns are just survivors genuinely trying to work together and survive. However, "Crouch Spamming" and T-Bagging serve no mechanical purpose, there is no genuine concern for survival or teamwork present. T-bagging is a taunt intended to upset killers. Therefore by the communities' loose definition of toxicity, T-bagging is toxic as it serves no justifiable purpose and is only meant to upset another player.
(Enough of the "BuT It BaItS tHe KiLlEr InTo ChAsInG mE" the killer's primary objective is to kill and chase survivors. They will chase you on their own, trust me.)

Well from my perspective you were being just as rude. The Legion is a DLC killer, people had to either pay money or spend a fair amount of time grinding to unlock the Legion. The fact that you think it's perfectly acceptable to deny a customer their right to at least partially enjoy the entertainment they paid for simply due to personal bias is just distasteful in my eyes.
The constant barrage of "DC if it's Legion" is unacceptable as it messes with player rank distribution while also skewing Legion match results. I don't expect folks to play a full game with a killer they dislike. Feel free to suicide on the first hook. Doing so will prevent you from gaining a double de-pip and it will also give your team some help by buying them some time however small. However, to suggest that people who bought a product have no right to do so because you don't like it is ridiculous.

I get that you aren't too keen on Legion, but all the DC'ing is going to do is skew the numbers of Legion victories and result in an improper response from the devs. Then again, provided you DC enough the next ban wave will take you with it so maybe I should just be patient, eh?

I generally will farm if half of the team leaves early. It's a nice change of pace from the standard games I get with t-bagging and the like after all.

Iron Maiden is only really useful on three killers: Huntress, Doctor, and Legion. The Huntress benefits from the faster locker opening time as it allows her to reload her hatchets/power faster without having to sacrifice (pun intended) an add-on slot. The Doctor gets the full benefits of the perk as his primary counter is hiding in lockers, by using this perk he can search and detect people using lockers allowing him to actually remove one of his most powerful counters from the game. Legion only really gets the faster locker opening advantage as some folks don't understand that he can open lockers while in the Feral Frenzy and will arrogantly jump into a locker right in front of him. I suppose being exposed does something but given how rare it is for people to jump out of lockers while the killer is near they'll probably use Frenzy to get over to where the locker is, which negates the survivor's exposed effect as they'll likely end up afflicting them with deep wounds through the frenzy.
Iron Maiden is a decent perk, but unless you are going for some kind of turbo build (Brutal Strength, Agitation, Iron Maiden, and Bamboozle) it has limited uses.

It has potential, but unrealized potential. If you can pull off a stun or blind against an ambush killer without activating the perk until after they are distracted it can be great. For example, say you hear a Wraith stomping towards you cloaked. If you can burn him with a flashlight (2 seconds aimed at the cloaked wraith) and then activate Sprint burst to get a ton of distance then it can be very powerful. Other than that though, it's okay.
However, most people just use it to get extra distance at the start of a chase.
-
The chainsaw is too loud? That's weird, I can barely hear it while I have "Speedy Runner" playing.
-
Eh, I was just using the same words as the OP. Besides, while not everyone who uses flashlights is a (explicitive referring to a feminine hygiene product) I have more memories than I would like of being new and having surviviors constantly T-bagging and blinding me.NuclearBurrito2 said:
First of all toxic is the wrong word for these squads as they are just playing to win. Competent squad describes them better.
As for flashlights I always find it funny how survivors think I can't hit them after they blind me. I always lunge where I think they are when I'm blinded and I've had multiple games where I hit them this way. It's so satisfying to do
If you go for a save or burn because you have WGLF or you just care about your team or just want points I have no trouble with that. When you start T-bagging between blinds and spew toxicity in the post-game chat I see no reason to not brand you as toxic. -
@LCGaster In general if you are playing Wraith and flashlights are around uncloaking behind obstacles is all you can do. Once folks realize that the killer is a Wraith the flashlight folks will be on high alert and will try to blind or burn you as much as possible. It sucks, but there are noticeably fewer pallets nowadays than there were during the days of "just use pallets to counter Wraith".
-
@Doc_W__HOLLIDAY said:
I run it with SC for max self-sufficiency!But do you run Pharmacy and Streetwise with Botany and Self Care for maximum Self Healing power?
-
Toxic squads are a pain when you're new. But eventually, you'll learn that they are usually more bark than bite. These groups tend to be predictable and have easy counters to boot. Let's focus on the flashlights for now.
Flashlights can be used for only the following:
- Flashlight Blinds
- Shoulder Saves
- Burning The Wraith
- Burning The Nurse
- Burning Phantasm (Hag) TrapsKnowing this, let's move onto counters.
The Wraith can only be burned while he is in the spirit world. Just uncloak before charging the flashlight person and you'll be good.
The Nurse can be denied the ability to blink while the flashlight's light is on her. So to counter this she can just start charging blinks early. Alternatively, if the survivors got cocky she can always just lunge at them once they're close enough.
Hag, unfortunately, has no counters other than maybe using a Minty Rag to manually teleport to traps being affected.
So for general flashlight blinds/shoulder saves we have 2 types of counters available, perks, and knowledge.
In the perk area, there are several perks that make using Flashlights harder or riskier.
- Lightborn increases your base resistance to blinds and helps you recover from a successful blind faster.
- Overwhelming Presence makes using flashlights consume 80%/90%/100% more charges than normal when used within your terror radius. (Provided you can regain control before the blind is complete you can move your head to chew through their durability.
- Franklin's Demise lets you just knock a survivor's item out of their hands and also removes 0%/5%/10% of the item's base charges. (If you can get a lucky pallet lunge you can sometimes lock their item under a pallet. When this happens I strongly encourage you to never break that pallet regardless of the consequences just to make these "bullies" realize that they need killers in the game.)So if flashlights seem to be a common thing for you, consider grabbing one of the above perks.
In terms of game knowledge, the key thing to know about flashlight blinds is that in general, they require timing and space to pull off. For example, if you down a survivor next to a wall, or just near a wall in general, try to grab them while facing the wall. By doing this you make it harder for the blinder to get in position to blind you. Additionally, if you suspect that there is a blinder lurking nearby and you have no perks or walls to help, do a quick circle around the downed survivor and see if anyone is nearby. If you do find anyone just give them a smack and usually they run off to heal.
To summarize countering flashlights without perks:
- If a wall is nearby, just face the wall while you pick up the downed survivor, the closer you are to the wall the better.
- If a wall isn't nearby, spend 10-15 seconds quickly patrolling around the downed person making sure that nobody is hiding just around the corner to blind you. That's all I got. Good luck!
-
When I was new I thought that Saboteur broke hooks permanently (this was in 2017, mind you). I also thought that flashlights were always toxic and OP. (I hadn't realized that the survivors are just trying to save their buddy for the team's sake. I also hadn't discovered the wall trick yet.)
-
I play both so that's what I voted.
-
I prefer Botany Knowledge, Sprint Burst, No Mither, Breakdown, and Claudette ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
-
