My highest view post is The Dead by Daylight Meme pit, now re-branded as "No_Mither_No_Problem's Meme Disciples".

Aight so...What’s with everyone having so many discussions about Legion again this week? Did a Streamer or YouTuber start complaining again?
@Chaotic_Riddle I have no clue. I say we just keep defending good Legion playstyles and attack people who call for Legion to be removed or say that DCing against Legion is good.
-
@Orion Hey don't drag me into this any deeper! I said my part.

@George_Soros said:
The "fun" in any game is to think, observe, adapt, try to figure out your opponent's playstyle and tricks and come up with ways to counter them. That's why I loath the meta, not only "meta" perks, but there is a kind of "meta survivor gamestyle"'.
That's what people refuse to adjust when facing a killer who is much different than the others. And that's exactly why complaints about Legion being unfun to play against can be safely ignored.
You know what, you're absolutely right. Why should we care about survivor's not being bored when their damnable Meta has been boring killers for over a year?

I had to scroll through Reddit for a bit to find this again, but I think it was worth it:

The devs created Legion to be an anti-tunnel killer and to be fun for both sides but instead they created possibly the most hated killer in the game.
@PhantomMask20763 What's even more ironic is that they are most hated for the fact that they are used for tunneling that is unstoppable.

Nah Killers Instinct doesn't reveal your aura, it has like a pulsing red circle around you that just follows you
@ClogWench You failed to understand my point. If you see someone get deep wounded Empathy show you how close they are to you. (Provided they are healthy before the frenzy, which they should be since most Legions run Thanatophobia) This gives you the warning of whether to run or not. You'll never be seen by KI if you avoid the TR to begin with.
-
Hey I just realized something. Can't you counter Killer Instinct's survivor reveal with Empathy? If you see someone get deep wounds in the HUD quickly spin for the aura and run the other way for a few moments.
-
@Spirit_Hag I actually prefer playing solo to swf, and here's why: I don't need to care about you.
When I am in a swf I find myself being far more reckless, determined to do whatever I can to keep my buddies off of the hooks and in the game.
When I'm solo I might get around to unhooking you, but might also just stay by my gen.
Overall solo lets me focus on ME while swf has me focus on a team. (It doesn't help that at least half of the swf teams I've tried to join in my DBD "career" have been toxic, entitled children, or DCers.)
-
Due to recent developments I'm opening #NotAllLegions to people playing Legion as they were intended on top of sparing victims of DC. We need to generate more positivity to counter the toxic Legions.

Read my words before knee jerk responding. I never said anything about dc'ing. I do not condone dc'ing. I said sacrificing themselves quickly to the killer. That is perfectly fine and every player's right. End the tedium quickly within the game rules.
If you're not enjoying being infinite looped or being out played by a co-ordinated SWF then go stand in a corner and wait for them to finish the gens and leave. Otherwise you made your bed by taking on an SWF or chancing going to a map with powerful loops. So either lie in it and take them on or just wait til it ends.
But I never condoned dc'ing.
My apologies, you mentioned giving up and naturally I thought of DCing. Given the mass promotion of "DC against Legion" it's not unreasonable to make such a connection.

Then stop playing Legion. Because unless they get a rework you're probably rarely going to get a decent match with a killer most people find as much fun as a root canal.
Good on the people who just gave up and sacrificed themselves. Nobody should suffer through tedium to appease anyone else. End the monotony quickly and move on.
"No one should suffer through tedium . . . end the monotony. . ."
So if survivors loop I have every right to DC? Great! After all looping is just monotonously running in a circle. It's a tedious experience of just getting stunned with a 33% chance of actually working towards my objective.

@Eveline said:
Only people who can't take a loss dc. There is no other reason. And if they doubt their abillity to win in certain circumstances they dc at the start.
You can win against any killer.
@Eveline I feel like this has not been said enough. As long as a survivior repairs 1 1/2 generators, does one or two safe unhooks, and lasts at least 7 minutes, isn't that a pip?
-
I play both killer and survivior (though it's now mostly killer if I'm being honest.)
I only characterize the following behavior as tunnelling:
The killer sees a survivor and makes their death their new primary objective.
I'm not talking about the hook rescue stupidity of: "Just let the injured guy go." That discussion has gone on for far too long. If you think you should get a free escape because your ally did a bad save you're mental. (The killer can't spare you because if they do there's a 60% that you're going straight to a generator to repair which punishes them for not offing you.)
I generally just try to play my games like this:
* Hook everyone twice.
* Once 2 or fewer generators remain I start hooking everyone for the last time.
* This steady stream of broken wills and bodies will hopefully create pressure and fear about your coming death.
* If I get to the hatch first I grumble: "I should be allowed to close this, whatever." Before scouring the map for the last player, herding them to the hatch on a final chase.
* If they get to the hatch first the game ends anyway.
I get that being farmed sucks, but don't target killers for survivor stupidity. Most of us just use common sense and just wander around the trials like murder hobos.
-
I'm starting a new movement called #NotAllLegions
It's just a comp of me (and others) sparing survivors and being kind.
Here's my first clip:
-
Honestly I got bored a week or two ago and sketched out a layout for a map I'd like to see: The Macmillan Manor. The MacMillan family is mentioned to have a great fortune and a considerable estate, so it's only natural to assume that Evan and Archie Macmillan lived in an opulent house. Besides, Dead by Daylight has an abundance of maps, yet no cliche "spooky mansion". One thing to note is that I botched the scale of my sketch so if you compare it to someone else's much better map chart mine looks massive.
Here's a much better sketch of a different map for scale:

I haven’t heard this. I personally hope that’s not true (even if some would rightly deserve that) because I have limited funds and can’t afford to fix or get another console (especially with ps5 around the corner.)
I do think that there is a small chance you can steal survivors’ items, that’s happened to me before when a killer dced and I tragically lost my flashlight or broken key (usually the items I bring because one sucks and I can’t use a flashlight to save my life - I am also hoarding keys, kits, and toolboxes for “when I need them” and for that dang trap door trophy.)
@pemberley I'm part of the "PC Master Race" so I don't know a whole lot about DBD on consoles, but I could've sworn someone said that there's a small chance that if the killer DCs on PS4 there is a small chance of something important getting corrupted. I can't recall if they were talking about the game's save file (all of their progress gone would suck) or something more generally important.

Right now its irrelevant, you can easily reach rank 1 without even owning a mic.
That shows once again how broken the ranking system is. SWF with voice comms have without doubt an insane advantage over solo survivors, and yet solo survivors can easily reach rank 1, the highest you can reach.......
There are so many aspects of DBD that need fixing, but you gotta start somewhere. In my opinion it would be wrong balancing the game around SWF before solos get voice comms
I know what you mean. I'm just trying to think out how all of the pieces would fall into place. On top of making sure that the game stays "fun" we just need to make sure that the developers wouldn't waste time making a chat system that would be mostly neglected.

@Peasant as a gamer girl I can confirm that boys do sexually harass me and get weird stalker vibes often Bc I’m a girl. That’s one reason I don’t swf often with people i don’t know or haven’t played with before that are just chill. I have a decent sized block list of these creeps.
@HeroLives I'm a gamer guy and it's only recently that all of the nonsense that girls have to go through has begun to reach me. (Not actual harassment, just all of the lovely (/s) stories about girls being harassed in: Rainbow Six Siege, Fallout 76, and many many more.
Hence my concern, that, in Dead by Daylight this could be turned up to whole new levels of appalling. After all, the only thing worse than being basement camped by Leatherface would be getting basement camped by a Leatherface that spends the entire 2 minutes (if you actually hung around to wait the timer out) sexually harassing you.

@Master said:

I know, but they need to be given the ABILITY to communicate, otherwise the game can never be balanced.
Look at overwatch for example, most players dont give a damn about voice chat and disable it, but the higher you climb the more people use it and actually take advantage of it.
Same should hold for DBD, in rank 15, nobody will probably bother but once you get to rank 5 or higher, you should use it or you will be at an disadvantage.
You will never be able to force casual players into playing competitively (in particular voice comms), but if you need to give them the ability if they want to.
@Master You know, that actually makes a great deal of sense. That being said, I still am not sure if you'll necessarily be able to coax folks to use the voice chat, even at high ranks.

In my experience (on ps4,) the killer dcs because other survivors (I personally try not to be toxic) are purposely denying the killer points and being mean to boot. Yeah sure some killer dcs are rage quits, but I think most are people at their breaking point, the match was so miserable for them that ultimately sticking it to those nasty survivors is worth more than losing a meager sum of blood points.
I don’t condone dcs, but I am much more sympathetic to killers doing it because as a killer and someone who solos, I can tell you survivors are more nasty than the actual killer (and some definitely deserve a comeuppance.)
@pemberley As an added bonus, I could've sworn that if you DC n console as a killer there's a small chance that you could actually destroy the survivors's consoles somehow.
I understand full-well that some entitled brats will abuse this out of spite "I didn't get my 4k so I don't want anyone to win! Weh!" However I can only hope that someday a toxic survivor's console will get corrupted so that console will be a little bit better.

We don't need more opportunities for players to be toxic, we need fewer opportunities for players to be toxic.
While normally I'd agree with you @Orion I am simply afraid that you cannot remove toxicity without silencing everyone. Besides, if we create openings for people to be toxic then we can just simply report them with certainty once they do so. Online games will always be toxic thanks to VPNs and the like blocking tracking, letting people shout obscenities behind the safety of a screen with minimal consequences. All we can hope to do is make toxicity more clear and profound, to better allow us to counter it.

Why not Nurse's Blinking with Myer's Infinite Tier 3 Evil Within?
She can walk through walls and insta-down.
-
My primary concerns with a voice chat in Dead by Daylight are:
- How will it be implemented? (A Survivor only alternative to Discord and Party chats that nobody will use, or a proximity chat that will see some use?)
- How will the in-game chat affect toxicity? Are people going to be more toxic with this?
- How will this chat affect "gamer girls"? I think we've all seen the stories of girls being harassed online by creeps or worse.
- How will this affect people of differing sexualities? It won't come up every game (hopefully) but in games like Overwatch I've read that folks don't take too kindly to people of differing sexual orientations.
I genuinely think that a proximity-based voice chat might be a fun addition to Dead by Daylight, but I worry about what the cost of such a system will be.
-
@Master Let's be Frank here, if the developers added a survivor only chat in Dead by Daylight I sincerely believe that fewer than 20% of PC players would use it. Console already has the party system so that might be lucky to see all of 10%.
Besides, Killer x Survivor communications would finally let you talk down to downed survivors, something I think you would appreciate.
-
@JoannaVO said:
I think it would be reasonable to give the killer the ability to hear survivors when in a certain range. Atleast survivors won't go and yell their lungs out all the time without giving their position away. ^
Survivors and killers communicating could either be funny as hell or toxic, that's why I always loved F13, because of the way the killer communicates with the counselors and vice versa.
That's what I'm saying! If you're gonna let folks talk, let everyone talk!
-
@JoannaVO said:
I sometimes just wish there were voice comms in-game, so that when someone does nothing but crouch or keeps on hiding for no reason I can tell them to just be useful for once and work on the generator that they have crouched past multiple times. As killer it could be funny too when using prayer beads or scratched mirror.
@JoannaVO Spirit and Myers would be awesome with soundboards. Just get right on top of someone and as you grab play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sXlaBa75Iw

Yes, also i have to now just haul ass out the exit gates, just in-case the Killer decides to DC and i loose my hard earned points, esp if i have used streamers or cake....i am the sort that will go back for others if i can, NOED doesn't bother me, but recently it's been a case of even pulling the exit gate open and some DC....i think Killers just need to take in their stride....just move on to the next game, swallow the fact it was a bad game and move on...if i am slugged or tunnelled i just move on straight away to the next game if i am killed...sure i am not happy about it but just move on....people do earn their points
Consoles generally attract a younger audience from what I can tell. Perhaps there's just been an increase in children too spoiled to not know that it's okay to lose?

This made me laugh. That’s exactly how I’d use it too. Probably would mute it tbh also gg to the help with their in game sounds still wired to their tv/pc and not through their headphones. I swear I want to murder them. Especially in swf Bc like 1 I can hear the killers tr through their mic and it ######### me up Bc I’m think the killer is near me. Or you hear their gen noises, and if you’re also doing gens it can mess with you. If the killer can hear that too lulz
I can just imagine a Frosty Eyes, Moldy, Frank's Mix Tape and Cold Dirt Legion blaring Megalovania through their mic just for the memes.
-
I like medieval stuff so I guess a medieval tunic for each of the survivors. It could be part of a set so that they just have +1 cosmetic for all of the original folks.
For killer I would love to see medieval killer stuff. I could imagine the trapper getting some leather jerkin fit for a hunter. Perhaps the Hillbilly gets plate armor since he practically jousts with his chainsaw? I know that a crusader cosmetic would logically be easiest to fit onto the Doctor since his white flowing robe already fits the bill, partially.
It would also be neat to see most of the killers get swords.
Perhaps for the Huntress they give her a Halberd?
They could also give the huntress alt hatchet cosmetics like knives or javelins.
-
@TeambossFloze said:
@orion That's fair enough - how would you? Would you? improve the perk?
Honestly I would make the perk cause the sacrifice to progress slower than normal.
The basement staircase is a great big choke point making saves difficult. By having basement hooks take longer you increase the odds that other survivors will turn up for a save. Thus it increases the odds that your one basement hook might turn into a 2 or 3 basement hooks.

why u put an example of the worst case possible of a solo game?
how about you are in dying state and whisper to survs that didn't see you "hey, im are behind you please heal me" so the killer who is more far away cant hear you due to the "distance-based" feature
@BACKSTABBER Did you see my latest post in the thread? I actually like the idea of a proximity chat. I just worry about the consequences it would entail.
-
In all honesty in-game voice just makes my head hurt. I both want it and don't want it at the same time.
If they do choose to add it though, I pray they make it proximity based. That way folks can at least meme with it.
Besides, it adds mind game potential. Imagine being downed by the killer and after they pick you up you just say "Feng stop touching the f-ing totem he's right here!"
Proximity chat has its problems, but it's better than just adding in a standard voice chat that nobody will use.

Did you just say adding voice chat would make the game more scary? Lmao that's hilarious. Hearing the killer or survivers start sprouting slurs at you would totally kill the mood. The killer without a voice is one of the things that actually makes the game scary.
@ProfoundEnding Just imagine this:
The map is Haddonfield, you're fixing the house of pain generator. Right after you finish the generator you climb out of the window and Michael Myers is waiting across the street. As his cold, heartless eyes peer into your soul you begin to . . .
(In a 12 year old boy's pre puberty high pitched voice.)
Hiiiiii Katie!
I see yoooouuu.
Truly the stuff of nightmares.
-
There is actually one thing more satisfying than watch a Decisive Strike user bleed out.
Having a Decisive Strike user succeed and stun you only to get downed almost immediately after with a hunting hatchet.
It was the only match where I had fun on Haddonfield.
-
I just heard a bunch of BHVR designers groan at the thought of a map with an abundance of water.
I might not be a game designer, but even I know that water is a pain.
-
@HatCreature said:
I just thought of this, there should be an electric chair in the map and the Killer can put a Survivor in the chair. The catch is the chair will only activate when the last Gen is turned on, so having a Survivor in the chair when the last Gen activates or whenever all the Gens are already done immediately sacrifices the Survivor.
More interactables like this in the game would be fun.
Why not just add that to the Treatment Theatre?
-
Honestly, I would go with Infectious Fright or Tinkerer.
Tinkerer actually works amazingly on her to let you jump the generator folks and get a quick down.
Infectious Fright just helps you escalate your one down into two or more downs.

See, I have Legion but I can’t really play them because their power disorients me and I lose survivors in the process.
I just think survivors have way too many options to just rush into the endgame, especially swf. Everything works in their favor, from items to teamwork to the fact that 4 perk slots are more than enough for them to survive since every survivor perk works toward that goal. Killers have just 4 perks to try to cover a whole laundry list of hurdles and objectives.
@pemberley If you need guidance with Legion my guide might help. Just grab Bloodhound as your choice perk and you'll be good to go!
-
@Nickenzie If you're being serious about more emotes then I believe that all that would make sense are gestures and reasonable actions.
Things that would make sense for survivors:
- Being able to sit down.
- A greeting (Wave or Salute)
- A firm handshake (group emote)
- Finger guns (It'd make sense on Ace)
- Stoic T-Pose:
(The reasoning for the Stoic T-Pose is the existence of the art of body blocking the killer.)
- The only other survivor emote I could thing of would an accusatory point. For when someone messes up a skillcheck.
For killer emotes I'm afraid that for the most part you'd just have to add the option to buy different Mori execution animations from the shop:
- A quick and effective mori
- A brutal/savage mori
- A merciful mori which shows the killer having regret for the execution (fits with Nurse's lore, might be a nice touch for other killers.)
Back on subject of emotes for killers, all I can really think of that would make sense would be stern pointing:
and then miscellaneous power events (Nurse pausing to hold her blink wrist with the other hand, Clown sniffing his bottle, Huntress examining hatchets, etc.)
-
It's funny you should mention Bloodhound. Very recently I've been inspired by "The Crimson Court" dlc of Darkest Dungeons to create a "Bloodletting Build" for Legion. We're talking Thanatophobia, Sloppy Butcher, Bloodhound, and Stridor or Knockout.
I will make them bleed.

I would have given him...
Hex: Nerf
Every time a survivor is hooked a token is received.
At 2 tokens survivors take an extra 4 seconds to heal
At 3 tokens survivors suffer from the exhaustion effect
At 5 tokens half of the pallets remaining are removed from the map
Pretty good job so far
When a survivor vaults a window a simulated lag effect occurs and the survivor is pulled back onto the other side of the vault. PGJSF has a cooldown of 60 seconds.
Go play civilization: (Obsession perk)
Once per game, when the final generator is completed the killer can perform a special attack on the obsession which closes the DBD game and launches Civilization from the users steam library. If no copy of Civilzation is found then a random game is launched in its place.
All in all I think he could be upper mid tier.
@The_Crusader So are we agreeing on his killer power, or did you forget to make that?
-
The Plague is fun but she has a major design flaw.
Since you'll be chasing survivors until you purge them into the broken state for an M1 her chaser emblems are absolute garbage as you spend too much time in chases.

-
New Killer: THE DIRECTOR
Movenent speed 115%
Weapon: The Ban Hammer
Power: "Mathieu's Magic"
While holding the right mouse button (or the console equivalent) Mathieu can channel "Mathieu's Magic" which makes all survivors more likely to encounter bugs long thought dead while also increasing the frequency and difficulty of skillchecks for a duration.
Additionally, if a survivor is sacrificed or mori'd by THE DIRECTOR their Dead by Daylight account receives a temporary ban of 1 year. If they DC in a match against THE DIRECTOR they are permanently banned.
The killer's unique perks are:
Play Something Else:
Each successful attack decreases survivor movement by 0.5%, 1%, 2%. This effect cannot stack past 5 successful attacks on any given survivor.
Civilization:
Each generator repaired increases the total number of charges required to repair other generators by 10%/15%/20%
HEX: Pretty Good Job So Far
For each generator repaired the hook sacrifice timer is reduced by 1/5/10 seconds.

Please everyone don't think that I am talking down on the original killers because I like them as well and the game for sure needs them also, I just think the devs need to uphold the unspoken contract that they have with their fans by producing Licensed killers also.
@RabidWabbitz ". . .unspoken contract. . ." I think you mean imaginary contract. The Devs never took any oaths to make Licensed killers. Furthermore, on what authority are you demanding such a contract from the devs? Unless you're prepared to help them pay for the endeavor I think you might want to quiet down.
