This is what they intended and want to make it less viable.

    Current Meta.

Meta Survivors: Stacking Second Chances Perks.

Meta Killer: Stacking slow down perks

I know, I know, but that doesn't change the way I play (I do not care anymore). No matter what else comes

This update is EXPLICITLY aimed at shaking up the meta. That's the devs's declared intention. Of course, meta is being discussed in the contest of the update, whether you care about mmr or not.

Competition, what kind of competition? ( compititive diibiiidii? 🤣) .... People stress out and Meta you have everywhere. It's just like in other games. I'm not interested in the meta level (in any case no longer). But this is just my opinion

  • @Bwsted said:

    As killer:

Stack 3 slowdowns and a perk that works with your power (Bamboozle on m1 killers).

You need to proxy hooks hardcore. If you loaded out as recommended above, you're good to go.

Tunnel immediately off the unhook. If you're high-mobility, put survivors in deep wound at the earliest opportunity. If you aren't, you can wait out the 5 sec mini bt (optional), but no longer than that. Down and pick up (don't resepect DS in the slightest). Repeat until sacrificed.

    As survivor:

    Run BT (non-negotiable).

OTR is irrelevant with the endgame nerf and endurance not stacking. Rescued survivors will be put in deep wound routinely early on. Nobody is going to wait out 80 sec anyway and not even 15 is practical (see killer section above).

And BT is the only saving grace in endgame. Conclusion: run BT (great meta change, BHVR).

DO NOT RUN DEAD HARD. It's a dead (no pun intended) perk for not working in deep wound. 0.5 sec with no distance and latency is useless. It makes you easier to be tunneled out. SB or Lithe are your friends.

    Last 2 slots:

-if you're solo, take Kindred to help coordinate rescues or gen efficiency (lmao, who am I kidding). In swf you can free this slot for one more perk from the list below.

-Then your options are tunnel delay, or genrush, or a mix. That is Prove Thyself, DS (yes it's trash, 90% of perks are even worse), Kinship, Resilience.

There, you have it. The 'new' meta.

    Yours kindly.

P.S. lucky me I haven't touched the game for 2 weeks and counting.

META when I hear that...... I would suggest focusing on the fun and not looking at the MMR that no one can see anyway

But if people want to sweat pure, let them.

I think this is really important to note. Since it wasn't clear what the reward was, other then it would be unique and give bragging rights, a lot of people wouldn't have have spent so much time farming. Personally as someone who spent a lot of time P3'ing for that unique reward, it feels like a bait and switch. Maybe being much more clear would elimate the confusion and frustration in the future

    @DaddyMyers_Mori said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3057247#Comment_3057247

It wouldn't be a big deal, if they presented it like this from start.

Which they simply didn't, they even talked about "deserved bragging rights" and because there wasn't said any reason why reward was changed, it seems like they just wanted to get more players to grind during anniversary.

Bragging rights is something interesting that made at least me waste tons of time and cakes, if they stated it's personal reward, then I wouldn't give a #########.

Whether this was a bait-and-switch tactic, I dare to doubt. In any case, it is clear that the developers will no longer do this (communication clarity). But I also think that the developers can´t or do not want to comment on my question, for whatever reason.

  • @DaddyMyers_Mori said:

Well, if they said it's personal reward, most players would simply not care. I wouldn't at least.

I hate asymmetry and I prestiged only my mains killers, so I am going to turn it off anyway. I have prestiged for bragging rights they promised during stream / dev update and this pissed me off in level that I just refuse to play anymore.

The grind during anniversary was just too painful for me to accept this BS.

Well, there are those who think: I have achieved something that I want to show to others. Do I feel good about it? Yes. Does it also have something to do with showing off? Probably yes.

Then, of course, there are the others who think. Why does it always have to be something to show others?

That's why I'm interested in the developers' opinion.

  • @Nitpohls said:

Will the new scratch mark portrait background for those who already p3'd be visible to others now too, or just client side?

If only I can see it, it doesn't really feel special, or like any kind of bragging rights.

I think you can only see them for yourself

Since the rumors of the Stranger Things DLC is coming back some people have stated that the original owners of the Stranger Things would receive a compensation. Supposedly the owners will get a Joyce cosmetic for Nancy but i think there should be some other type of legacy reward. The people that bought the dlc for Steve, Nancy and The Demogorgon obviously wanted those character and maybe wouldn't have bought it if it instead contained other characters such as Joyce and Hopper. My idea was to give the legacy players the option to buy cosmetics and the new dlc buyers only had the base skins. Want to see other peoples opinion about the return of the Stranger Things franchise in dbd and what the legacy rewards should be.

So I personally don't believe those rumors. Even if it were, I think they could throw 2016 Legacy right after it.....

  • @Remedicist said:

I have no idea if the MMR is being messed with or not. My games always tend to feel very random in general and my guess for that is that the game will prioritize queue times over similar MMR if the queue times get too long. If I recall, the chart BHVR put out also showed that a good majority of the playerbase is around mid MMR in general, which could add to the randomness of games. For the data you had showed us about your games, I feel that we would need other player datas as well to confirm your results.

Thats true and i know that yeah

I got tilted playing and started to make poor decisions, last match the same thing happened and i got into that bad vibes train. My main issue with this match was the locker saves, like what can you do against a corner locker?

    https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxUm2ammqBhIxFs2PM6uqM8AC7N6UmhHnI

It just looks like the devs didnt think enough about their placements. This clip sums it up

@PatchNoir You don't need to justify yourself to such comments. There are always people who know better. I can understand the game very well, and there is nothing you can do about this locker spam abuse. The best thing to do in the near future (matches like this) would be to slugg the survivors to the Death, that´s my opinion. Unfortunately, 90% of all matches look like this to me and I wish I was the lowest MMR.... You almost can't play a normal match these days. Still, many players overestimate themselves in MMR, so don't forget that. Don't let such matches upset you. Even if it is annoying. ( don´t forget Lightborn. That Perk is rly good on Wraith )

As an aside. I am currently playing my own perk combo with the Wraith. Fearmonger, Sloppy Butcher, Call of Brine and Knock out. I guarantee you will have a lot of fun with it. Try it out if you like :)

No, its not toxic to tunnel, its not toxic to camp, its not toxic to body block, its not toxic to flashlight save, its not toxic to sabotage hooks, its not toxic to genrush, its not toxic to play with swf, its not toxic to slug when necessary, its not toxic to use any perk u want, its not toxic to use certain map offerings, its not toxic to run to corners, its not toxic to use a certain killer with certain add-ons, its not toxic to outplay the enemy, its not toxic to camp pallets, its not toxic to play bad, its not toxic to use mechanics in a game to your advantage and that goes both side.

All these things are frustrating and annoying for sure but they are certainly not toxic.

What is toxic is to use a flashlight macro, an auto deadhard macro, saying nasty stuff in end game chat, slugging every survivor to death because u got outplayed (although sometimes when u cannot reach a hook because the survivors positioned themselves in such way its necessary), dcing cause u got outplayed, letting other survivors get killed cause of spite or killing them by bodyblocking them etc

This game, as like every other pvp game has mechanics that u need to learn and take advantage of or possibly counter.

I am a killer main, and it was super frustrating at first, but eventually i learned the game, the strengths and the weaknesses of each side and i understand their problems and so should everybody else.

Having only 25/50/75 but work with exhaustion perks; Spinechill A. light up only when killer actually sees you or B. nerf loop potential. Instead of that they went for both and ultimately butchered those perks just like they did with Billy.

I also did not write that there is no SWF that plays normally....jeeez

This is what i wrote: Unfortunately, in my 7500 hours, I have never come across a SWF group that plays normally

the killer should know when some players are in a swf, problem solved, they dont because swf squads to like to mock the killer are most of the playerbase, salty and entitled to 3 man escape every game while being carried by perks and braindead loops. If killers were let known the players are in a swf, they would not play against swfs, which would make swfs stop and be mad, AKA no buying, snce swfs are the majority, but they deserve it.

For killer: Pop now removes 20% of the current progress, why not just 20% in total when you pop it? Or make it 25% of the current progress. I feel like the double nerf on some perks is way too much.

that SWF players have advantages is obvious. What is there not to understand?

No one is arguing they didn't have an advantage over soloq players. I am even making an entire point about how we should buff soloq to be closer to SWF levels of power to then be able to properly balance the game.

don't pretend you know 100% that SWF is a minority

Once again, I never said anything along those lines. SWF is a clear majority of the games you play, that's one of the main things I've been saying - the bully squads YOU are talking about however are a clear minority of the overall amount of SWF groups out there, yet YOU are the one acting like you knew that every SWF out there was a bully squad.

I don't know about other players. My solo Q experience is definitely good. It's exciting, challenging and fun.

Good for you. Most people will still prefer playing together with some friends when they have the chance to do so.

Please don't twist my words. I never said anything about Bully Squads.

If anyone has said or thought the term, it's you. I in any case not

    Thank you

  • @Mister_xD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3042201#Comment_3042201

    1. just no. And map balance is an entirely different topic altogether.
    2. you said SWF is unhealthy, therefore a logical conclusion to take from that is to assume you think the game was more healthy without it - which is not the case. Also you got me intrigued: how DO you nerf a Discord call?
    3. it makes a lot of sense. Don't do it and you got exactly what we got now: a split survivor playerbase where SWF groups reign supreme while its impossible to properly nerf Survivors because solos are going to greatly suffer from that.
    4. no you quite literally want to make the game harder for anyone who wants to play with their friends. That is the textbook definition of punishing me for wanting to play with friends.

Also, you are once again willfully ignoring away the existance of casual players here and act like every SWF group in existance was made of a bunch of ultra tryhards who do anything to make the game as unfun / unfair towards you as possible, when in reality those kind of groups make a clear minority of the actual SWF groups.

And your "solution" to punish people for playing together willingly takes those ~90% of casual players as collateral damage. Do I even need to tell you why this is a bad thing?

that SWF players have advantages is obvious. What is there not to understand? I emphasize again. No one has said that SWF should disappear. DBD has changed, so don't pretend you know 100% that SWF is a minority. I don't know about other players. My solo Q experience is definitely good. It's exciting, challenging and fun.

  • @Mister_xD said:

Take away the peoples option to play this game with their friends and this game is going to die faster than you could count to 20. SWF is very healthy for this game, whether you like it or not.

Also, there are plenty of SWF groups out there who play this game casually. In fact, I would dare say most of them do. But since they are not the bully squad everyone pictures when talking about SWF, most don't even recognise them as one.

What needs to happen is BHVR finally addressing the elefant in the room and buffing solo Survivors to be able to keep up with those tryhard SWF groups (so that we no longer have a split Survivor playerbase) and then balance the game accordingly.

But you can't just go around punishing people for wanting to play with their friends.

    1. I disagree: SWF is not healthy in its current state, and certainly not in map balance.
    2. I also didn't say that SWF should be abolished, but that the game should be made more difficult for them because they have advantages.
    3. It doesn't make sense atm to buff solo survivors to the point of immeasurability, because that would make the game even harder for killers.
    4. This has nothing to do with punishment and is an excuse.

    @hiken said:

"solo players have the best experience" LOL, solo survivors get t he worst experience DBD can offer, is literally called SOLO Q PAIN for a reason. youll lose most of your games, useless teammates, killers love to tunnel and camp and no one brings decent perks to counter any of that or take hits to protect each other is just pain, endless suffering.

Here, too, I disagree. I only play solo and I can assure you. A large percentage of survivors exaggerate and exacerbate solo Q for no reason. There are good rounds and there are bad rounds, we know that. If in your case it was more bad rounds, then I'm sorry for you. But it's not like that with me, quite the opposite.

You shouldn't always point fingers at other players, but have the courage to take a look at your own nose. I like the feeling of playing the way you want, so this experience is a positive one for me. Campers and tunnelers aren't unique to Solo Q, and that's pulling your hair out. LOL doesn't get you anywhere there either.

I won't deny that it's more difficult in the solo Q, but On the subject of Solo Q Pain, it really sounds like a trend.

The change is purely down to accessibility.

Spine Chill will still be as we described in the Dev Update -however, there will be a visual indicator of the Terror Radius on the perk (hopefully in time for Live release). This is not a permanent solution, and we are looking into other accessibility options.

    I have something.

Maybe some dash icons above your head to let the deaf know when you're in the terror radius, or an icon at the top of the screen. Something like that. But then you'd have to make sure the game is in silent mode.

Otherwise, this feature could be exploited and manipulated by other players.

Nobody has to survive, it's a PvP game. You're someone on a PC/console playing against another person on a PC/console. Stop taking this game like it's real life and it will make sense for you why killer has to be harder.

You need 4 times more survivors than killers if you want this game to live. Making survivor the stressful role would just kill this game because you would have no reason at all to play the role, considering killers have more variety (each killer is unique, while survivors are just skins) and the role is way more interactive (killers never have to stay still and hold M1 for 90 seconds for example).

Wait a minute, who has to survive? The survivor or the killer? If I'm being hunted, it should be more stressful for me, not the other way around, sry.

  • @Peanits said:

We do not balance for any group of players in particular. The game's for everyone, not just the top 1%. If doing something to make the game more enjoyable for the 1% at the top would make it less enjoyable for the other 99% of players, it's probably doing more harm than good.

I'll share this graph that we've had floating around recently again, but have a look at the width of the lines:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V6HP4SZ9BFVK/perkusagebymmr-killers.jpg

The width shows the number of matches. You'll notice that the vast, vast majority of them are in the middle of the pack. Meanwhile on the top ends, that decreases dramatically (4,227 times less). While these are for perks, the actual distribution of players in terms of matchmaking ratings are very similar. You see a lot of people in the middle, but very few at the ends.

(Prefacing this by saying that this is by no means to call anyone in particular out:) Realistically, a lot of people place themselves higher than they really are. Loads of people claim to be at the top, but there's no way that everyone claiming to be up there actually is. And that's okay! It doesn't matter if you're at the top or in the middle, or even low. Your opinion still matters as much as anyone else.

"It doesn't matter if you're at the top or in the middle, or even low. Your opinion still matters as much as anyone else."

This is a beautiful sentence with which I fully agree
