At the end of the day, the majority of the casual community is not good enough for this game.

I don't really like the wording of that. Maybe "They aren't skilled enough to play the game to its full extent and potential".

In any case, the game SHOULD be balanced for high MMR. For most games, balancing is primarily geared towards the high end, and the meta and strats of that high end trickle down to the more casual players. DbD isn't really that much different. It may take a bit longer in DbD, but it happens. Not too long ago, Nurse was considered fine because she has a steep learning curve. Now everyone (anecdotally) goes up against a god Nurse every game that may or may not have kissed their dad without anyones express permission.

When you balance for the casual audience, things get overlooked and abused by the top end of players. Those abuses trickle down to the casual audience, and you end up with a mechanic that was fine when people didn't know how to abuse it, but now everyone does.

What does "abused" mean? The only reason the survivors are currently so pissed at the nurse is because the killers are fed up and have found something that makes it difficult for the survivors to escape. It's just not a killer you can turn over 100 times. As long as the survivors are having fun, everything is fine, but when the killer is having fun, it's a different story, isn't it? Unfortunately, this has become a reality.

No harder skill check I already broke my controller because of that so I don't want to break another and also I want to play mindlessly not really focus when I play survivor and do something else at the same time. Killer is when I try hard and survivor is for relaxing.

"Killer is when I'm exerting myself, and Survivor is for relaxing." It should be the other way around

The DEV aren't interested in balancing the game for any group in particular. Their goal is the overall health of the game, that is to say what keeps the game in good metrics. I suspect any changes they make are course corrections driven entirely by dips and gains in numbers on a chart. What is a game to us is a job to them, and balancing the game isn't as important as keeping the game in the black. Do you follow?

I know I sound jaded and cold, but I think this is entirely reasonable on their part. There are lots of great games that were perfectly balanced. Most died. There is a reason that game designers have, over time, embraced imbalance in their designs rather than continuing to seek the utopian goal of the perfectly fair game. People like to speculate (and the DEV like to let us speculate) about who they are balancing the game around, but that is all illusory.

If they ever managed to achieve perfect balance, or as close as they can manage, they would be disrupting and changing it soon enough as if they hadn't. They will continue to shake up the game in the same manner they have always done. The stated reason will always be to achieve better balance, but the real goal is simply to shake up the game. It has to stay new and vital to a degree. Consistency is equal to stagnation when it comes to video games.

I follow you completely, but the game of survivors has changed over the years. Today, after all, everything revolves around: make the generators as fast as possible and escape. Unfortunately, that's all it is anymore

I sure do miss the good ol days. There was something about old dbd that made the game more scary. People actually played the game as intended (stealth) and the animations showed fear, the visuals were spooky (blurriness when you look in the distance), thick fog, better auras (a little darker and outlined in black), old running, always fast vaulting, and throwing down pallets at light speed, facing a billy every game, legacy, taking 2 years to get through 1 bloodweb, the lanterns in lunar new year event, the first Halloween event, double pallets at every tile and the extra audio. You guys remeber those eery noises of screaming in the background? And all the differnt music tracks. There would be a specific sound track for whatever state you are in (healthy, injured, downed, hooked, chased, exit gates are powered, stealth). I sure do miss monto and his old dbd yt vids aswell.

There was always something about old dbd that is so much better than today's, the good and the bad, heck nurse had 7 blinks when she came out and huntress hatchet hit boxes were 50 meters wide and those "negatives" created positives for me, memories to look back on and it makes me wanna be back in the good ol days of dbd.

Don't get me wrong dbd now is still great, but it's not horror anymore and hasn't been since outfits and clown release came into the game, now it's a very controversial killer vs survivor battle, toxicity, super sweat and never ending complaints which gets old after a while.

I just wanna kick back relax, put on my urban evasion and self care (urban- which was meta for like 2 years after release ) and get scared out of my pants when I hear a heart beat. And I didn't mention the moonlight offerings. Those were crazy, but awsome

I would love if bhvr made past game versions available to play, it's probably impossible but i would buy them for 20 bucks each if they came out.

Most of us vets all sot down ready to play today's dbd and just have flashbacks and real good memories of old dbd, and we miss it, we miss it so much.

Absolutely right - that's how I feel too. I would love to see new gen sounds in the indies, the old grab window animations, plus the sounds for each health status and so on. Yeah, I miss the old DBD too. Today there is only genrush and troll and nothing else. Sadly

With looping slightly nerfed hopefully we can start to see the remaining 50% of the killer roster never played.

No, we won't. Unfortunately, little will change. Not even with the new patch. If you ask me, it will take another 2-3 years for the developers to get a handle on this.

massive killer queue times ? you are absl. wrong. Wait and you will see

This event hurts like crazy because of the bp cap.

2-3 games and you have to take a longer break to spend the points or you'll reach the cap.

I'm not asking about removing the cap completely, but it does slow down the event for me and everyone i know.

And i don't think there's a single person happy to waste time every 2-3 games on spending bp

This has nothing to do with wasted time, I beg you^^ No, the cap should stay

Does the Dredge actually freak anyone else out? This happens to me with all stealth killer but Dredge does this times 2 for me. I just get so nervous when I can't tell when a killer is coming. Like when I'm vs Ghost Face my heart is pumping since I know he could pop up at any second. And now Dredge is even more crazy with Nightfall. This isn't a complaint by the way. It's great. I like having scarier killers in the game. Dredge reminds me of the awesome game White Noise 2.

    @EQWashu said:

Thursday I was running a DbD game night in a Discord, and we got the Garden of Joy map. I was running through the shack and not paying full attention as a friend was talking, and suddenly Dredge popped out of a locker right in front of me and I let out a scream so loud my other half thought something was wrong like another wasp in the house or something. 3 gens and 2 sacrifices later, I was so frantically focused on looking for the unkicked gen someone mentioned being near the main house, Dredge popped out of another locker right as I passed it (didn't scream, but it freaked me right the hell out)! I was the last survivor left, and by some crazy happenstance, I managed to find hatch during Nightfall, and could easily see his unnerving visage on my heels through the darkness before I did.

I have to say, I don't get jumpscared easily! I go through Haunted Houses like art instillations, I can watch horror movies without the slightest reaction, and I can count 3 times prior I got jumpscared in DbD (1- Tier 1 Myers pulling my oblivious butt off a gen in 2017/2018-ish, 2 - stealthed Ghostface coming around a quick corner and pulling my (again) oblivious butt off the Hex totem on Hawkins in early 2021, 3 - Looking over at a Sadako Rising PTB stream and a split second later seeing Sadako's glare for the first time).

Steven Spielberg said you only get one good scare out of an audience. After that, they are onto you. To be insanely scared that intensely twice in a match is truly fantastic and fun, and ever since that match, I'm a lot more on my toes with a Dredge than any other killers. Wuv u Dredge <3 lol

This is nice to read and makes me want to play again.

Aside from that most killers are running Corrupt, DMS and Pain Res. So yes, survivors should do their gens in order to survive, that's the whole point of the game?! To stare at a progression bar whilst 1 or 2 loop the killer.

the game wasn't out on PS4 back then...it came out on Playstation June 2017.

Oh, lucky you, I know you have Legacy Gear. (We played against each other several times). Yes, the grind was hard and I also had Legacy with my first account at the time. Unfortunately that disappeared due to the bug with the bad ressets, and I still think it's a shame that BHVR hasn't found a way to at least give people (who lost their gear due to the bug) their gear back. 😪

  • With the upcoming update, do we need bonus blood points if the grind is reduced by 75%? No. Does the repair speed have to be that high? No

  • @Crowman said:

Prove Thyself doesn't increase bloodpoint like bbq or wglf. It bonuses the amount you get from actions and is still subjected to the 8k cap.

    @[Deleted User] said:

No, they're different. WGLF and BBQ give you bonus bp that's awarded post trial. Prove thyself increases the amount of bloodpoints you earn from co-op actions and this does not go past the 8,000 cap for each category.

I know that, but I don't think you understood exactly what I meant by the headline. It does 2 things. First increased repair speed and second additionally bonus blood points

  • teaser3.jpg

as seen in the picture. Character related or general?

  • @BoBunny said:

Hey, I'm writing here in hopes that a dev or someone who cares will see this and at least consider what I'm about to say.

By now everyone's seen the recent suggested changes to a lot of the perks in the game, many of them being questionable to down right bad in all honesty, but one sticks out among the rest for a particular reason.

Not Calm Spirit, but if no one used it before, the one person that did certainly isn't going to use it now. Not BBQ or We're Gonna Live Forever. Not Dead Hard. Not even Buckle Up, which is dog water and didn't even get mentioned.

I'm talking about Spine Chill. Ignoring the vault speed, which while a good selling point to equip the perk, is not the issue I and a good handful of others have about its changes; its the Line of Sight check given to the perk. Well, why does that matter?

Spine chill is used often by players that are hard of hearing, deaf in one ear, ear damaged people, even straight up deaf players use Spine Chill for any information at all that a killer is looking and heading in their direction. Without it, unless you already have a direct line of sight which already negates the use of the perk with the suggested change, you won't know if a killer is coming, especially if you're more on the deaf side of hearing problems; not giving you much time to react at all if any.

And seeing how line of sight checking already works with this game, in terms of things like Ghost Face's revealing mechanic, lord knows if it'd even work in an open field, let alone around a tree or bush.

Behavior has given color blind people options, they clearly care about their handicapped players. Hell they've added closed captioning for all two voice lines that actually get captions, but this change whether or not it was intended to give hard-of-hearing players a harder time, certainly will. Hearing-impaired players who want to play a game with their friends or just play a game they enjoy are now going to struggle, if not be shut out completely.

Fine, Behavior, take perks like Iron Will or Dead Hard, Calm Spirit for whatever reason, and put them in a trash bin, but don't punish people who just want to play your game, despite their disabilities. Revert the changes from Spine Chill, not so much the vaulting speed; that can stay gone.

Hopefully what I explained makes any sense, I know I'm more than likely going to be one voice in a sea of a thousand voices shouting their own complaints, but the hearing impaired have a voice too.

NO sry. Finally stealthkillers or stealthplays have better chances again. Jumpscares become more and more and many survivors have to look around again and observe the environment instead of just waiting for the perk to light up and then running/sneaking away, etc.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

Because Spine Chill users DON'T look around, they watch the perk icon and soon as it lights up.... RUNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly and I am so glad that this is being changed. Finally stealth players/killers have more options again. Thanks BHVR

  • @The_best_killer_main said:

Ok this event is the WORST thing ever it's unfair .

I was in a match and 5 gen's where done in less than 3 minutes. That is not acceptable , what's the point of playing then . Your just going to get gen rushed anyway. Even if you bring strong perks like blood Warden and ruin you still can't do anything. Either they get rid of ruin In 30 seconds or you cant even catch anyone to hang them to activate blood warden. You stand no chance as killer in this event.

This is not unique to this event. It is a general problem

Hello, I just made an account just for one thing as you can see the title

I'm a survivor main for 90% of the time and an average killer at best and I'm always playing solo, I don't get mad when I'm losing and I'm not celebrating like a crazy dude when I'm winning, however there's something that always pissing me off, that's right, I got tunnelled or facecamped for whatever reason, except for being toxic, I swear I'm not toxic

The thing is when a killer plays that way, not only they won't get punished but they're getting rewarded for that, taking someone out as quick as possible, teammates wasting their time leaving gens to unhook me just to get back on hook, the easiest and cheapest way to get a kill, now it's 3 vs 1 and easier match I suppose, it's so unfair when a killer like me tries to hook everyone and end up getting 1k but the other gets ez 3k spending the least amount of skill and win

They say when you see a camping Bubba just do gens but I'm afraid I can't do 3 gen in 2 minutes he already got 1k and he's seeking for the 2nd kill using HEX:NOED and do you think was it really a fun match?

Shouldn't killers actually earn their kills by using their skill, I mean I believe a camper/tunneller doesn't deserve 1k

Playing as survivor requires way more skill and just one wrong move means death meanwhile camping/tunnelling are easiest way to get someone killed

I'm not taking it too serious but I'm trying to have fun how am I suppose to have fun when I'm dead on my first hook? and how that killer is satisfied getting one kill while he barely even tried? is he actually more of a skilled or what? I can't even understand how is that even fun for killer, this also creates more toxic environment if that's makes sense, DS is meant to delays the inevitable and not stopping the killer, Same goes for BT (unless if you're in end game collapse situation and these perks are life saviours) please consider punishing that playstyle by some rules or otherwise remove penalties camping/tunnelling is just as bad as DCing, both are meant to ruin the fun except campers/tunnellers/ getting rewarded instead of penalized

I'm not that much of a jerk, BHVR can buff killers anyway they want in the cost of punishing Camping/Tunnelling

All I want is to have fun and if I lose, I lose while me and the killer both tried our best, and I would cheer that killer for being better

My main point is: Unskilled play shouldn't lead the killer to win at all, Imagine me being bad and keep tunnelling/camping and winning but if there's going to be a rule that's stopping from doing that I'll be forced to get better instead of being bad

Camping/tunnelling should be legal when there's no gen left to patrol, that's understandable but otherwise it shouldn't be legal

I hope you guys can understand me, good luck and peace out

    "I'm a survivor main for 90%"

That's when I stopped reading.... Survivor rulebook? No thanks !

Sure, thank you for asking : D

I pretty much always have naughty pinata on. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the devs of this game made Naughty Bear. That was a really interesting game that i played growing up.

    The Shape

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3UAW2O0AMZFP/image.png

I have this one for Michael Myers, naughty pinata, christmas inferno (great name) and neacrow. Christmas inferno because i imagine that's something micheal myers would do if uh... Halloween was set on Christmas. Neacrow because he would totally hang nea outside of the entity realm if he could.

    The Doctor

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N9PSM50NQHU2/image.png

For Doctor i just picked some spooky charms. Pulp Horror, Auric Sight, Arachnid Mother.

    The Cannibal

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GQC0D13HPTTL/image.png

    Coldwind Harvester, Neacrow, Dwightcrow

    The Nightmare

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7YA7RV4IBWPK/image.png

I picked Christmas Inferno again because the tinsel looks like freddy's jumper. The Entity-Covered Flashlight and Astral Entity Abstract look nice in the Dream World

    The Pig

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/77OWG1J5X25C/image.png

For Pig i just picked some Saw charms from the Saw rift. Invitation to Play, Padlock, Tricycle Billy.

    The Clown

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/R1CJZHBETBHY/image.png

Pulp Horror, Spherical Bloodweb, Mystical Attraction.

    The Trickster

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5KHYGR2ZX6EJ/image.png

The Trickster Concert Ticket, Ji Woon's Autograph, No Spin Lightstick. Did you know if you scan the qr code of the ticket charm, it takes you to the official trailer of the all-kill chapter?

    The Dredge

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NJH1SOZ866WF/image.png

Naughty Pinata, Bloodied Token, Pop-Up Card

nice and flashy and colorful, I like it. Thanks for the post

The dude imo is S teir. He out of everyone needs a nerf, his buff earlier on imo was not needed, but an increase of knives was. Overall he's a way better huntress and a slightly less nurse. He ends chases in seconds and his knives have no mid chase cooldown like huntress or deathslinger.

I don't see how people arnt complaining about him. Trickster is the only killer I ever complain about because he requires low skill and is amazing in chase. Plus every deathslomger you go against are very good, because again, they require low skill, not none, but low

Wait, what the hell are you talking about? The Trickster is by far the worst killer in the game and the stats prove it. What he needs is an add-on overhaul and another small buff. The kill rate is below 50%. If I were you, I'd start thinking about your gameplay. Trickster is everything, but not S-tier. I've rarely read such nonsense. Im sorry

why is the situation with masks the same as with crowns? why do you have to go out with a mask at the gate to get it? the killer doesn't have to do anything for this, he can just afk. given that mmr for solo does not work, how do devs offer to get masks? escape is impossible.

You should be ashamed of this title thread. Survivor discrimination is what you call this? without even thinking about why the developers decided to do certain things differently?

The killer doesn't have to go AFK. He also needs to find the mainobjective, just like the survivors.

"DEV said: To clarify really quick, you do not need to escape to get a mask, you just need to survive until an exit is available. If you die heroically to save a teammate at the end of the match, you'll still get it.

The main reason why this exists is due to our learnings from past events. When we didn't require people to stay in the match, people would do their event objective and purposefully die as soon as possible (looking at you, pustula plants). Not a huge deal at first, but after a day or two of people throwing matches the game becomes really unenjoyable. So while it is unfortunate that this condition makes it a little harder, it's necessary to not destroy gameplay for the entire event"

  • @WaveyTrey said:

I posted this idea in another discussion, but I want to make a separate one here.

NOED: Whenever the first exit gate is opened and a dull totem remains on the trial the dull totem becomes a hex totem. Upon activation The Entity will block the first exit gate opened until that Hex totem is cleansed.

What this means is that survivors that purposely body block their way across the whole map to a single door they 99% will be surprised to see that this exit becomes blocked entirely. This will only happen due to the cockiness, and abuse of second chance perks at EGC. All of this becomes their literal doom. They cannot crawl out of that gate, nor abuse DS to get through that gate as planned. When the hex activates they have to use the other gate. As most times survivors never take the time to open, or use both gates. They almost always abuse their way to a single gate they have at 99% already.

Survivors now have to take the precaution of opening BOTH exit gates to be safe from this scenario, or break the hex that could block the 99% gate they all want to run through. Giving the killers the potential to catch more players at EGC.

    i like it

The other are either generic because I don't have the killer-related charms or are the same as yours, usually if i don't have anything that fits I use Lunar Lantern (always loved it, it's nice and big), Stuffed Crow and either The Campfire or Dwightcrow, depending on my mood when I set up the charms

I really like it. Ok at the murdered turkey from The Dredge I had to laugh^^ but Maurice is a perfect choice:)

    *thumbs up*

Welp I gotta say, apart from the Billy charms the only other "issue" I had with your charm choice was the fact that you had used the "Lady of Malice" and the "Sadistic Trapper" ones which I didn't like but since you changed them I have to say:

10/10, perfect choices for the charms we have available rn

thanks, do you have a few you would like to show? I would be happy to.

Yeah, hit the enter key in the future.

Here's a pill that's hard to swallow, 99% of Survivor teams are beatable.

I once took the time to charm up all Hooks fitting for each Killer but when the new Tutorials first came out, it reset all the skins and charms after a bot match and since then I didn't feel like equipping them all over again.

I only did this because, I always see the same Charms on most of other players and I find that boring

Added: The Twins, Pinhead and Ghostface

Many of my posts are that length, but even I stumbled upon that enter key thingy...

Imagine that. I found the enter key. Good or ?🤣 Do you have anything else?

Maybe something constructive on this topic?
