I believe it was the last QnA where Dead Hard was brought up, and yes it is a perk that's being looked at. So no, we're not ignoring it, the designers are not "fine with it" and it is scheduled to have some adjustments/changes.

I must admit, I was thinking if Dead Hard wasn't complained about then Sprint Burst probably would be.

I'm in the camp that Sprint Burst is actually stronger than DH when it's used in a specific way, although it's not as frustrating as Dead Hard is.

I think the issue that was with Dead Hard was less noticeable prior to the hit validation going through - after that, the complaints about it increased ten fold and I am sure the usage has gone up as well. Prior to the validation, there were the regular complaints of being "exhausted on the ground from survivors" (which is fair enough because the perk was designed to give that invincibility frame to dodge a hit), and complaints from killers of "dead hard for distance"

Since the validation was added, instances of being exhausted on the ground are way less - from what I've seen here at least, but of course the issue with the hit validation became apparent with the feedback to killers, which was addressed and should now only happen when the player has a much higher level of latency.

So yes, I suspect that Dead Hards usage increased a lot when the validation went through as I know many survivors had stopped using it due to the exhausted on the ground issue.

    Hello Mandy,

first of all, I would like to apologize for my harsh tone in the above post. I was very annoyed with this perk that day because every survivor was running around with it. I realized after the fact that the developers will look into it and I'm very glad about that. Yes, you're right, the sprint boost is stronger, but I personally don't care about the strength. It's more the frustrating part of DH that bothers me. That's the only thing I have to complain about. Playing against sprintboost just feels a lot better. I also think sprintboost is good.

DH isnt unhealthy. The outcry is unhealthy.

I have rarely read such nonsense

  • I don't know why you have to discuss it all the time or why ppl get panic. The fact that player numbers are down a little bit is completely normal. We had a lot of game releases last month like Elden Ring, Lost Ark and so on. It was one of the strongest months. But that will subside, because Sadako is not an easy killer and you have to give people time. Also, it's good to take a break every now and then.

    For several reasons:

    • Her teachables are so good and have amazing synergy with each other. I've been running her three teachables alongside Pop and can pressure gens really well. Brine, Merciless, and Pop all work so well together and I think I prefer it to Pain of Resonance/Dead Man's Switch combo. Gen gets blocked at 90% if they miss a skill check, which gives you time to teleport over and hit it with the Pop/Call of Brine combo. A nearly completed gen can be absolutely destroyed within seconds.
    • Her map mobility is really strong and feels a lot smoother/faster than other killers with this power (Demo/Freddy). If you're good at predicting survivor movement, you can catch them off guard by teleporting. Also, I've surprised so many by using Floods of Rage and teleporting to their location.
    • If you're smart with her power and manifest around corners/out of survivor's field of vision, it's so easy to get free hits/gen grabs with her undetectable status when she's manifesting.
    • She's really good at 'hit and run' which applies a lot of map pressure and survivors will waste time healing. Her only real bane is CoH but I think that applies to most killers.

I think she's pretty awesome from a design perspective, and I love how her three perks really complement and work in synergy with her power. Not only is she super creepy and fun to play as/against, but it's so refreshing to have a killer whose power is something other than anti-loop (😴).

She needs a little love and a few small adjustments, then she would be perfect. I love her too and her assets harmonize well.

  • yayaya i got you mandy^^. It is assumed that only those who bought the DLC (or a char in the ingamestore) in the first 7 days will receive it. This would also fit the videotape and its story.....Today I am afraid. I will not turn off the light and I will not go to sleep. My TV stays off^^

  • I kept experimenting and testing, and of course a full Condamnation status shouldn't happen too often. Still, especially at higher MMR levels, this ability feels way too weak and rather useless. Even if you play perfectly and always make sure the survivors are cursed. This ability is just too dependent on the survivors. Something that can't really be controlled and managed by Sadako. If you ask me, Sadako is currently something for the lower MMR range, but nothing where you can get good results at higher MMR levels ( cause higher survivors listen about mindgames and all the tricks ). She is still too weak for that atm and one of the reasons why there are not many Sadako players on the road at the moment

Hello, get well soon !!! But with all due respect, people who suffer from epilepsy should generally not play games like DBD and other games. I think that is irresponsible !

You know that Killers use SR as well... so the Killrates will remain the same

we will see what the evaluation will reveal in the end

  • @Sluzzy said:

I commend the devs for fixing this and it is something that will really making the game more fair. Survivor that abused changing their resolutions to stretch everything so they can basically wallhack the killer at all tiles was never intended and this gave an unfair advantage. You always knew the survivors that abused this because you never could catch them at tiles no matter what. There was a clear difference between a native survivor and a stretched survivor.

Now the stretched will be brought down to everyone else, and they’ll be fewer teams and survivors that peep over walls and extend chases way longer than should have.

Killrates are going to dramatically increase.

They’ll be fewer tournament-like stretched teams in the fog that seem unstoppable. Killers will be winning even more than they were and I think this will give the devs the data they need to see that it is too hard to use what is on the maps (for the majority of survivors). Killers can down too quickly most of the time. Will we return to earlier map designs where we have 2 pallets at every jungle gym tile? The killer meta was already too strong even with this advantage. I think something will definitely need to be done with nerfing the killer meta and buffing maps again now that the stretched users won’t have an advantage to overcome it.

Are you serious? That the developers remove the SR was long overdue! and now you claim that the killers were already too strong and the kill rate will increase dramatically...and only because they remove an unfair advantage of the survivors? sorry but that's ridiculous. The data will show this in the future because: It was never intended for survivors to gain an advantage from SR.

I cant stand those baby survivors that loop all game but die, they deserve low mmr

you see, in hockey, it's all about scoring goals. So if you don't score a goal, you're a low mmr baby hockey player. Goal scorers are the best players.

And what do you want to tell us now with this post? That players with higher MMR are something better? Since no one can see their MMR, I would suggest focusing on the fun and not the MMR. Because, high MMR or low MMR.... it won't do you any good in the end and posts like this don't do anything.

It is not blackmailing, it is just the truth how I and possibly other people feel.

And a post like this can make a difference, it can be another drop that will eventually fill the bucket and make the devs do something about it.

Just to be clear. I emphasize again that I have nothing against your proposal to change the BP caps. What I do have a problem with, however, are posts with headings like this one. It clearly sounds like blackmail and you can't deny that, sorry. Whether that is true or whether other people think the same way you do is up to you. But the fact is that there have been enough BP increase posts like this in the past. The developers will make adjustments as soon as they deem it necessary.

  • @fogdonkey said:

With the grade rewards I have around 3 million BPs now. I was thinking about not playing until the Ringu release so that I can put all of this into the new killer and survivor. Remove BP cap or I will not play DBD until the Ringu release ?????

You can't be serious..... are you seriously trying to blackmail the developers with statements like this? If you want to take a break, go ahead...., but a statement like this (headline, title) doesn't do anything. This is ridiculous

I think this just proves what I've been saying for the past few months, that the word toxic has lost meaning.

Left hand side, the only two things that are an issue there are 1. DC'ing and 2. Body Blocking (hostage taking) - both of those are against our game rules.

What you write is correct and what is written up there in the post.....there... I can only shake my head. The only thing that is toxic about DBD is the endgame chat. The rest has nothing to do with toxic and I stand by that. Too bad the word toxic has lost its meaning.

  • Survivor: Kindred (cause i always play solo)

    Killer: Discordance

  • @TheSubstitute said:

I'm referring to the stuck in a 'Stuck in a Killer MMR bullying loop' video. When I play solo queue survivor I also play very selflessly, take lots of protection hits, take aggro to save a teammate on death hook, etc and, because of that, I've been sacrificed a lot. Consequently, I end up in games where I get a string of brand new killers who literally can't catch me. As an example, I've been in games where the killer killed the potatoes at 3 or 4 gens and myself and the other remaining survivor did the rest of the gens and got out.

This would be incredibly frustrating to a new killer as, in an asymmetric game, the power role has to be stronger than any of the individual components of the other side or the power role is set up for a frustrating, terrible experience.

Honestly, I'm not a great survivor but I have enough basic competence to get to Iri 1 as survivor (pipping up at red requires doing 3 gens, 2 safe unhooks and 2 health states healed, evading the killer for roughly 45 seconds and surviving for 9 minutes so at least basic knowledge of gameplay) but I've also gotten hatch on killers I think I could have soloed if I had been willing to spend roughly an hour on one match.

If I've done enough as solo survivor to pip up at red ranks my team is probably going to win but since I play selflessly I quite often sacrifice myself to get the other three out. Yet this means my MMR drops.

I never tbag nor do I ever taunt the killer (I even offer mercy hooks if my team is being horribly nasty arses to the killer) but it's super frustrating for a new killer to go up against a survivor they can't catch and I say that from remembering my first few days. To help out the new player experience the MMR system needs to be tweaked and changed.

TLDR: The MMR system makes it a frustrating experience for new players due to mismatches in skill.

Your opinion and the opinion of many others I respect of course, but I also have one about the MMR. Imagine if the MMR was calculated differently, (hook counters for example) then there would be almost only farm rounds in DBD and no losers. This does not work at all. The developers made the right decision here in my opinion. Maybe the MMR is not perfect yet (BHVR still work on mmr), but many other players and also a Scott Jund should finally understand that. It's like in soccer. Victory is victory and to achieve it you need skill! ( that's why sbmm, no matter if solo or swf ) Nobody asks how high you won. Whether 10:0 or 1:0 that does not matter. The only thing that counts is the victory and you achieve it by escaping or killing.

  • nothing... :( still waiting

  • nothing yet, still waiting

  • @Mandy said:

I don't even check profiles in the lobby - I click to search for a match and then I tab out to Discord or browser without even paying much attention.

Private profiles etc do not bother me, I know many people who have their profiles on private to non friends (mine is partly private also), people do that for all sorts of reasons and not all of those are connected with DbD. I concentrate on my own game and don't really think about the players I'm playing against in a negative manner.

My profile is open to all, but for the rest I do exactly the same thing *Thumbs up*

  • @Dionysus42 said:

Everyone is saying 'it makes no sense that exploitable areas were known from PTB and Boil Over wasn't changed'. It makes perfect sense because it's planned. If BHVR didn't want to make escaping from wiggling more common, why would they give it a 6% buff?

RPD library has been exploitable, at least with body blocking (I.E with as little as a 2-man swf), from the moment it went live. They have known about it for ages and will never change it because it's intentional.

If you use alternative strategies such as body blocking or slugging to counteract this intended gameplay, enjoy your ban for griefing.

This is a blacket terrible statement and helps no one

Simple question. You are going into great in depth responses so I want to see a simple answer. Why, assuming this system is somewhat functional as you claim, can a brand new survivor get killers with thousands of hours as their first game, in the middle of the day? This is not an outlier situation.

Quite simply. Either the system is not 100% mature yet, or the player with thousands of hours is just not high enough in MMR. One thing I want to make clear here. EXP does not automatically mean more skill ( but only experience ). There is a difference between a grade 1 player with 2000 MMR and a grade 1 player with 1000 MMR. The game hours don't matter and now seriously. BHVR made the right decision here in my opinion. Imagine if the MMR would be calculated differently.... ( hook counter for example ) then there would be almost only farm rounds and no more losers and nobody wants that and would be bad for the game. It's like soccer: victory is victory and nobody cares how high you won. Skill in DBD MMR is, when you escape or kill, (and to achieve that, you simply need skill) Therefore SBMM no matter how well you played. People should finally understand this....

That is absolutely true and I also understand that you are cautious about balance changes and observe first. But a large part of the players and I who tested on PTB know that "boil over" was too strong there and we told you several times! several times. A buff ? very much so... but not so extreme ? Until changes are made, it will probably take weeks again. If your experiment with the perk (you can combine Boil over very well with other perks and offers like Petrified Oak) goes wrong, you will have to put on the shoe.
