If the dbd community didn't have double standards they wouldn't have any. Good that you are consistant.

The thing with Jason is he can just get right back into chase after checking his totems. I've played so many Jason's with ruin and I've seen how oppressive he is.
Then you touch the totem again. Have you never played against a trap based killer before?
-
@cammoking123 said:
How is he not overpowered? Have you ever faced a Hex Jason with Thrill of the Hunt? He can get into chases and still monitor his ruin and devour hope.
He must drop those chases to defend the totem. A smart survivor would tap the totem and go hide.
-
Can't balance a killer on the subjective "unfun" especially when unfun is typlically the result of seeing more often than others. This is why balance embargoes exists for killers soon after release. Too many complain simply because every match is the same killer.

because controversy is something so foreign to DBD, let alone the forums? What controversy could a throwaway account on a game forum cause that any other place where discussion is available is immune to? Is there something here that makes it easier than somewhere like Twitter, where the game actually gets represented to the population that DON'T play the game?
a throw away account? If it was just one I wouldn't need to say anything. Also this is the most self centered community people would completely do this.

spell what out? is this legally the only place where people can discuss the game, and validity of one's opinion comes from time and number of posts on here?
Legally? You can discuss DBD anywhere, BHVR won't send lawyers after you.
Here's a hint since you can't tell. What if someone gets one of those crossed out profile pics and decides to come back during highly visible events to stir up controversy?

I don't think they need nerfs, I think it's the badge working on them and the ability to defend and return to totems so easily which is the issue, but it's not exclusive to him:
-Ghouls scream addon can be annoying for it
-Xenomorphs scream on tail hit is crazy for defending totems
makes me wonder if it's just scream based interactions with totems that could be the issue and the only counter to it makes totems slower too, so it's a lose lose with the options available. Pair that with mobility and it's really difficult.
If Calm spirit didnt have the wierd downside you could at least build for it?
Coz other killers do need the hex's to be strong, but others it's clearly overkill.Yeah, the downside to Calm Spirit was an interesting choice. The scream interaction does cause unforeseen issues.
This issue with breaking a totem being heavily guarded goes back several years. Funny how old lessons have to be relearned. At least now Ruin doesn't have the teeth it had back then. As long as you spread out across multiple gens, Ruin doesn't play the pivotal role like it used to.
A three gen around the totem would cause a challege but the same could occur with a Trapper with a well placed trap.
-
Guess ruin and thrill need more nerfs. They are proving useful.
Not like Hans is a comp player playing in public lobbies.
-
The game attracts the narcissist type.

them only starting to use the forums recently doesn't mean they never had opinions before? this isn't the only place to give feedback or discuss the game
idk if you're not understanding or just trolling. Maybe you need someone to spell it out?

And? Peoples opinion matter regardless if they post here the first time or are here for 9 Years and post every day.
It's just interesting they just now started having opinions even though they are clearly stating not to be new players.
-
I'm seeing far more than day 1 numbers. Also noticed survivor event items skyrocket.
-
Lot of 1 posts pop up during events.
-
All over the World, very impressive you talked to all of them to find this out.

I personally hate him lol, i find other killers much better
Heard the same thing during many killer releases.
-
Funny how everybody wants to play the new killer. I just don't understand.
-
Playing against the same killer over and over is boring. Guess what happens during a new chapter? The only killers that haven't received new chapter hate are the ones killer players find boring to play.
-
P9 Jason and still have 8 mil left over.
-
I would like to know why whenever I play survivor I get people brand new to the game. Or maybe with 200 hours in the game. But when I play killer I get people with 5-10k hours in the game in a SWF running all meta with 2-4 flashlights and/or toolboxes ready to be as hyper efficient as possible.
That's been an issue for 10 years.

It's not just nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses. The old system at least offered variety, instead of repeating the same 10-15 tasks or so, over and over again. It does get old, really fast.
The current quest system could use more variety and it could easily be added. Ripping out the current system for the older isn't a solution. There were many issues with the old system that quests fixed. One being forced to complete a node before being able to complete another. Or being locked out of nodes behind nodes you couldn't/don't want to complete.

Do not know if this is a joke, but new gen consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are more than enough able to handle games like Forza Horizon 6, Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil Requiem, and many more high graphics games. (I speak from experience)
But can they handle DBD?
-
Will the PS5?
-
I realise the pitchforks and torches come out the moment anyone mentions AI, but BHVR probably has more artist than programmers on staff. Don't think they are replacing artist or programmers with AI here.
Maybe put the pitchforks down for a bit.
-
Calling quests boring implies the previous older system wasn't. The old system had the fatal flaw of forcing a player to throw a match to complete.
Think this is a case of rose color glasses.
-
Play 1 game as killer and one game as survivor. In the end game results take time looking at everyones perks.
Repeat until you don't want to play anymore.
-
Sounds like a you problem. Being tired of a long running game is not uncommon. I don't know when you started playing DBD, but this OP builds you speak of are child's play compared to what this game was long ago. I know people baseline when they first start playing, but this game had some stupidly broken perks.

If this were the case, they would have almost no data. There are abandons in 99% of matches killers win. This would mean kill rates are insanely higher than what we're shown, instead of just somewhat higher because of the DC throw-outs.
Even if this were the case (which I don't believe) they'd still be using the data internally for something. How else would they know things like how often full teams get slugged if they don't observe instances of 4 abandons?
DC's are thrown out. I haven't heard that abandons were. If 99% of matches are with abandons, then that 1% is doing work keeping the escape rate at 40%.
-
Abandon means you give up regardless of the circumstances. It's not an auto complete button to finish the match for you.
-
You're mistaken what the MMR score is for. It's not to make you feel good, (if it's even high), it's there for the most loose matchmaking in PvP gaming history.
No, it will be a terrible idea. Have you seen this community? A P3-50 used to be trouted like a status symble before bhvr reworked the prestige system. Now we get P100 as the pinnacle of skill. Lets not throw another useless stat that will be used to argue why someone is right on the Internet.
I know what I'm talking about. I have a P100 Nurse after all.
-
Yes, BHVR bans killers that can't kill.
-
Break the gen at 5% and it's suddenly halfway completed.
-
Terrible
-
I told a new player the other day to close chat. Another player was insulting them.
-
A P100 Wraith is not uncommon just nobody "famous" is out there playing him as a main.

You realize the poster was a survivor in the match, right? And they don't seem like the type to give up in a normal match to me. So at the very least not a four man swf and there is no mention of other survivors throwing themself at the killer and I think they would have mentioned it if that happened and probably blamed the whole swf rather than a particular perk and specific survivor.
You are making a lot of claims about what went down and why with no real evidence.
I did not say 4 man SWF. For the match to last ~60s I would surmise that multiple survivors were in on the get dead quick scheme.
-
They will address it and it will break next engine update. Like always.

I saw a lot of people saying he is over-tuned in the mode. I don't know that I saw anyone villainizing him though. I am not saying it wasn't dislike of the killer, it just seems far more likely to me the player went in with intentional sabotage in mind and would have done this regardless of killer, especially if this really happened as fast as is being claimed.
In the last 2v8 I had play while you wait players intentional sabotage their survivor matches, not saying this is what happened either but its just as likely as that player not liking the killer.
All it takes is a quick down before progress is made on gens for survivors to give up. Yes, the killer being the sole reason gets unlikely as you go down the tier list, but you can't discount it.
Since this scenario is more than one doing it, it's most likely a SWF where one didn't want to play against an Oni or a capable killer.
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
People will still only play the top tiers.
All you've done now is make everyone else just as obnoxious.
You are correct. Players will choose the top tier, but that top tier might change with this buff.
-
Sounds like a good way to stoke outrage against M1 killers.

2 sacrificed in a 2v1 situation with 3 gens left and 1 slugged on the ground? Yeah that's a win lol. You can't abandon in that situation if you're a survivor.
if the killer is too busy doing W and S the other has a good chance to find hatch.
-
@Valuetown said:
Why do killers slug and spam w and s when they know they've won? Seems kind of worthless if you ask me.
have they won? I guess if all four are on the ground. But I thought survivors had a way to bypass that kind of humiliation? 🤔 Maybe killers could also... no that would be silly.
-
@FerrousFacade said:
Are you sure it was because they didn't like the killer? I have a hard time believing anyone would do this against an Oni (not that it couldn't happen). I think its more likely they came into the match with the intention of ruining it regardless of who the killer was.
Ignoring the irrational mind of survivors that give up when thing don't go their way, you could see the reason as Oni was villainized during 2v8 causing many to hate playing against him even in 1v4.

Hello!!
Thanks for taking the time to write out your thoughts, even the criticism are always appreciated!
We'd be interested in hearing more about what people think - which perks would you like to see changed due to Diminishing Returns? What builds do you feel it has affected? Anything else you can think of that's relevant, please please feel free to let us know!
Thanks!
What you see here is just a typical reaction when you take something away from a child.
Diminishing Returns purpose was to remove extreme edge cases from occuring. Healing was the first complaint after you post, but is the very reason the system should exist. Stacking perks so a survivor can heal as fast as the original Self Care / We'll Make It combo is not healthy. This system will prevent such combos from appearing in the future as the every increasing pool of perks continues.
-
Yeah, bhvr should create a forum or some place where players can post feedback and their experience about the game.
-
Audio from the game is already mixed prior to reaching your os. While you can "filter", or "suppress" certain frequencies you are doing so to the entire mix. If chase music is in the same frequency band as the foot audio, there's nothing you can do to remove it.
To the non-security minded. Never open a random zip file.
-
Cannot out wait the penalty. You have to play without DCing to cycle your DC history.
Just because people confuse this, it's a rolling counter. It is not you have to play 20 games without DCing to clear the penalty and if you DC before the 20 matches it resets your progress.
It is not that.
The game looks at your last 20 games and counts how many times you DC within that time to calculate the penalty time.

This constant race to the bottom is one of the worst traits of this community.

You're talking about a macro which would be near impossible to ban without catching any player with a gaming mouse or keyboard.
