Because slugging shouldnt be stronger than hooking. You should always want to hook over slugging.

And its pretty much always the high mobility killers too. Personally, if it's a high mobility killer like Nurse, Blight, Spirit or Kaneki, I feel like "oldschool" basekit BT should apply upon picking someone else up. Endurance and 10% haste for the next 10 seconds.

If a killer downs a survivor but has to travel across the map just to find another survivor, do you thing hooking would be the better play then? Or is it always the better play?

Do you think I have anger for Lightborn?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LSDB54YDLK2X/screenshot-20260423-002313.jpg

It's an unfair perk. That's why I use it. It's one of two anti-item perks you can choose based on what you see in the lobby, and get likely value. What are you going to do about toolboxes? Bring regress? You probably are already doing that. A medkit? Not really worth changing anyting for. Keys? Oh no they can open chests fast! Fog vials? Who even cares? Maps? Now you know there'll be a boon totem. Free info, no need to counter. But flashlights are just deleted. You also get free aura read for doing absolutely nothing. And again, it's not just items. Flashbang and Blast Mine are perks. If someone has a build devoted solely to blinds you delete the whole thing with one perk.

In reality it benefits the survivor side by not having two survivors in chase.

This honestly reads like satire. "I'm helping you be better at the game by choosing how you'll play. You're welcome." Use the perk, don't use it, I don't care, but accept that it's unfair.

Are you implying the kill rate is due in part to lightborn? 🤯

I'm not going to bother with this from you. I just can't.

Or blast mine. Or fireworks. Or flashbangs. But you can literally see the flashlight in the lobby. This argument would only make sense if killers couldn't see survivors in the lobby.

last sec switching still exists and there is a perk that guarantee a flashlight from a chest. To the other perks that are hidden from the killer, if the killer brings lightborn and nothing is used to blind them isn't it a wasted perk?

Also we are talking about an item not a perk. If the killer runs lightborn then the survivor doesn't need to waste time going for saves and progress gens. They could open a chest and get a different item. In reality it benefits the survivor side by not having two survivors in chase.

The anger for lightborn is not that it makes an item useless, many perks and killers can do that, its that survivors can't clicky click and annoy the killer.

Survivors on the other hand react to such topics in another way. Many Survivors think that BHVR should make playsstyles they don´t like unusable and get mad at BHVR if they don´t do it right after the suggestion came in. From time to time I try to reason with some players in this forum that "If slugging is in 10 of 10 games why won´t you take anti slug perks?" and always the answer tend to be something like "I don´t want to use a perk for BHVRs bad game desing".

These aren't comparable. Lightborn not only deletes an item's usability with just one slot taken, it even gives undeserved aura read. Yet you could bring a whole anti-slug build and still get slugged over and over, especially in soloq. Unbreakable is one-time use, Exponential can be snuffed, Conviction and WGLF require coordination to be really useful. Most of these just prolong things. All the killer needs is Infectious Fright and your anti-alug build just give them more info to keep slugging.

Killers decide how the match will feel far more than survivors. A genuine bully squad is rare, and a competent one even more so. They're usually just a nuisance anyway. Slugging and tunneling killers are constant and far less easy to deal with. I just played 4 survivor matches, 2 with killers going for full team slugs, 1 with someone trying to tunnel me. Then I logged off. DCing and being frustrated aren't survivor problems, they're game problems.

And about getting mad when changes don't come through right away—it's been 10 years. Slugging and tunneling are still being complained about. What's the acceptable waiting period? A quarter of a century?

lightborn deletes a perk if no one uses a flashlight.

  • I would click the button to watch lobby dodgers for an hour.

Xeno is the chillest killer in the roster. If nothing works out, you can just hide in the tunnels where the survivors can't hurt you! Almost like the Nurse hiding behind the gates, but better.

There was a time we could go on top of the shack and chill but they ruined it.

  • Gen builds will only help if you have someone that can run the killer. You can either stare at a gen holding M1 or go interact with the killer. One seems more fun than the other.

  • In a 2v1 it's every survivor for themselves.

If it's a 4v1 and they are being dead weight then have it.

You can get put in dbd forum jail for saying that you want to go next. But a killer can come in here and brag about doing what makes people want to gg next. Nothing happens. What a weird way to run a community. NOW DEVS, I am not saying that I will or anything. Just saying that, this killer behavior leads to it, but you allow it.

The OP said they slugged. Oh my the humanity better pull the network.

If saying you played in a way that makes survivors gg out, then every killer on the forum that said they down a survivor once is ban.

  • A very common end game chat.

  • The trend of giving up and not playing the game they queue up for. Instead of just quiting DBD they continue to join matches to ruin other survivors games.

  • I think we currently get a lot of BP.

i can see what you mean but i personally don"t know what exactly to do in order to kinda fix it and also make it fair for those with acsessibillity issues.

Players with connectivity issues won't always be in a swf. More than likely playing solo due to aforementioned connectivity issues. Even if they are playing in a swf does that only mean for 4x swf or does 2x 3x also count? Because 2x 3x still cause other player grief when they give up.

  • Daylight has come.

When the killer's in-game name gets censored in chat because it contains the word killer.

Had this exact situation. We lost badly and I wanted to lighten the mood by saying "No wonder we lost, this guys an actual killer" (slightly reworded to avoid sharing a Steam Name)

Instead I got "No wonder we lost, this guys a ##### ########"

Tell me, which makes me look worse?

I've had compliments get censored making it look like I'm insulting the other players.

  • I seen this yesterday and agree more or less with the points, except the last one of disabling the DC penalty for SWF. I don't know how he thought that was a good idea. That would allow 4x SWFs to DC to get easy killers without penalty.

Made up or not, I do run across survivors like this from time to time. Before EGC some survivors will stay at the exit gate for just as long.

  • Everyone knows survivors can't escape without being observed by the killer. It's basic quantum survivor theory.

  • At least 21 getting the three new survivors to P9.

  • I doubt the save file for your account tracks what progess you made on one platform vs another. The point of linked accounts is for them to merge.

  • Were the survivors spaced far apart or close together? If you down a survivor and another is right there, why not chase the other?

  • At some point, you will learn that camping pallets doesn't play in your favor.

  • Was the goal to make the perks fair or make it so they won't be used?

  • Who would play puplic matches?

The issue is that your argument still relies on generalizing one role as a problem, and that’s what I’m trying to explain is harmful.

Framing it as “mostly survivors” but “exceptions on killer” blatantly pushes an ‘us vs them’ mindset.  It shifts the focus from individual behavior to blaming an entire group, which you’ve already acknowledged you’re generalizing.

Toxicity isn’t tied to roles, it’s tied to people. A player who is toxic as a survivor doesn’t suddenly become a kind player when they play as killer, and the same goes the other way around. One role is not “evil”, the players that are jerks in one role are jerks in the other.

No one needs the “other side” to start being toxic first before they are. A jerk doesn’t need a reason to be a jerk, it has nothing to do with  being a survivor or killer.

You can absolutely speak from your own personal experience, because it’s important, but you have to accept that it is just that; your personal experience.  Not presenting it as a general truth for the entire player base. Taking anecdotal/personal experience and using it to justify harmful and negative generalizations for thousands of people because of which role they’re playing is exactly the kind of toxicity that you’re accusing others of perpetuating.

I'm sorry that you feel this is a us vs them as though no legitimate issue could possibly exists between two factions in a PvP game. I never called one side "evil" and understand fully both sides can be #########. But take note that the rolls are lopsided to allow one side to be shamed to play a certain way. I've seen post of killer player down right apologizing and asking for forgiveness for tunneling or camping. When was the last time you saw a survivor player do the same? All I see are post about why its virtue to quit if the killer doesn't play the way the survivor demands.

Here's one just today: S tier killer camps hook till death.

Before you go anecdotal/personal experience, remember that your personal experience is also anecdotal and not reflective of the community as a whole. You and me may not give a damn what others think about our play style but there are many that get bombarded by post/outside game harassment for simply playing a role as intended. Saying it doesn't happen or to not talk about it because it may make a us vs them argument is ignoring someones actual experience for your ideal view.

  • I've read in other threads that people can play the way they want. Just because they didn't play the way you wanted doesn't mean they played wrong. In some instances the other survivors could of got themselves killed by saving you. It just didn't happen this time.

Yes, this is true. But to get the chance to abandon in this circumstance, you have to rely on the other Survivor to make a bad play and trying to pick you up. (Again, funny that helping your teammate is the bad play in this situation)

Sometimes it's every person for themselves.

  • @hermitkermit said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4069839#Comment_4069839

I think it’s important to remember that you, and me, and anyone else is limited by our own experiences. I am not going to accuse you of lying when you say that it is always survivors in your experiences that act poorly. But surely you can understand how speaking in absolutes like that is very divisive, especially when other people, such as myself, experience poor behavior from players no matter which role. And while everyone’s experiences matter, they’re just pieces to a large puzzle we can’t even see. To push this kind of idea that “x role = bad” is harmful, it oversimplifies and creates unnecessary division.

I am sorry to hear of your frustrating experiences and I wish you better games in the future. But generalizing an entire group like that is the kind of mindset that’s been wrong in every context it’s ever shown up in, not just here in a video game.

I'm speaking in generalities not absolutes. Because I didn't go out of my way to say some killers do it too doesn't invalidate my point.

One side does dictates how the other should play or they become toxic in ingame chat or worse harass outside the game. Other times they DC, give up at the slightest inconvenience, or sabotage their team. That one side is greatly survivor. And just for you, yes there are killer mains who do the same but they are the exceptions and often ridiculed by the community when found.

  • Don't survivors get the abandon option when slugged multiple times? Or is this complaint more for the survivor not slugged?

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/465917/forced-to-farm

That is reportable yes, especially if it's survivors and killers working together to farm and you want a normal match and are being forced into the farming.

Personally when those things happen, I try to do the gens, get out of the match as quickly as possible - farming is not fun. It's a super grey area though, but its definitely reportable.

I believe the reporting part of this is teaming. Where the killer and survivor hunt down other survivors to harass or kill them.

Farming, while a grey area, does not meet the criteria of reporting unless the "forced to" is more than just trying not to kill you. Punishing for not joining in for example.

If farming in itself was punishable then the majority of the playerbase would be banned. Farming is very common when one survivor DCs or gives up early. To continue in a 3v1 at 5 gens with the same mindset as a comp 4v1 at the risk of being punished will drive more survivor complaints and toxic behavior.

  • Doc is not weaker, he was always weak. You are facing better survivor who know to pre-drop pallets, hold W, and go for other vaults when they hear the charge.

The only strength to the Doc was shuting down gens on small maps. Well there are larger maps and a limit to how many times a gen can regress now. Since the ability to hold progress has been reduced, he is where he always was, a mid tier killer.

  • Game is not over when all the gens pop. When the gates are open and all survivors are healthy though...

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/465935/still-getting-bmed-when-i-do-exactly-what-survivors-want

The DBD player base does not know what "teabagging" is.
Teabagging is when you crouch repeatedly on top of another player.

Crouching repeatedly in front of you is not teabagging. You are choosing to interpret it in a negative way.

Repeated crouching is the quickest and easiest animation that a survivor can perform.
I do it all the time.
I do it at the start of the trial if i spawn next to someone, to say hello.
I do it before getting on a generator next to another survivor, to show them I'm there.
I step next to the other survivor and do it when they blow up the generator, to show them i'm disappointed.
I do it when I get excited, when I'm scared, when I'm stressed, and this includes if this happens when the killer looks at me.
I even do it in rhythm with the generator noise as I walk towards it.

I also introduced the game to a new friend recently, and she jumped out of a bush and started repeatedly crouching in front of the killer before running past him into the exit gate. Another friend said "wow toxic!", but the friend new to DBD said they didn't mean it that way, they just wanted to pop out of the bush and say hello to the killer before leaving.

We know what teabagging is. It's kind of hard to get on top of the killer to properly perform the action you see. The message is received even without the proper position being taken.

I don't know why people generalize people in this game.

This is the only game I have seen this be such a major issue.

I have played TCM, I have seen people play F13 - this is the only game in any asym game that hyperbolizes one side to imply a rulebook is a thing and how we want you to play a certain way.

I don't really care what you use, but let's not kid ourselves when killer mains love to complain about 2nd chance perks and exhaustion perks.

I don't really comprehend what you're implying, play however you want to play ~ but you forfeit your complaints on your side too.

The reasonable person does say play the way you want. But this is DBD, where reasonable is drown out by the irrational..

Tell me, which side gives up the moment the other side doesn't play the way they want? Statistically, because we know both do but one does it far more and believes it to be a right.

The game is ten years old and during those ten years it's been nothing but tunneling, camping, running these perks. Yes, killers complain about survivor perks, but do survivors call out other survivors for using broken perks? Because I've only really seen killers calling other killer bad for "needing" slowdown or "needing" to tunnel to win. Show me a survivor calling a survivor perk a crutch.

There's a reason why The Survivor Handbook on Playing Killer is a meme. Survivors love to trash talk killers for playing a certain way. A lot of Steam profiles had to go private due to it.

  • Nope. Temporary is just to get the foot in the door for the general game.

  • Just means the Devs have to think about better perks. I don't see how this hurts killers more than survivors. It's the survivors side that is more likely to see the scale this system claims to stop.

  • Just double the requirements so we can make some Grade progress.

  • Give a mouse a cookie it will ask for a glass of milk.

  • They want you to play like that so they can teabag you at the gate.

Nah we should have limits aka if someone hasn't played in a week no pently its been to long if its really that big of a deal to people that other people click ready (which it shouldn't be a big deal but ok)

Wanting to punish someone for something they did in a game weeks ago is just a stupid mentality that does not help the "go next" issues and match ruin issues. It just makes you feel good someone has to click ready and has ZERO effect on people who ruin matches

I could go ruin matches right now and clicking ready would have ZERO effect on me being able too.

I might of done something wrong but that was in the past, can't we just move on like it never happened?

Let me rephrase this. If I come back too DBD after another server crash and I find a DC lockout it makes me very frustrated. I think the current DC penalty is unhealthy and I agree with the OP. You are welcome to have a different opinion but this one is my opinion

There's buffer room built in. A single server crash doesn't even prompt a penalty. You need to DC multiple times to receive one and even then it's not a long penalty. When it becomes long is when you constantly DC and those players are not wanted.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Agreed. This system doesn't discourage DC so much as it makes me not want to play DBD at all

If the DC penalty discourage players that DC from playing then those that actually want to play the game are better off.

  • @random1543 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4068578#Comment_4068578

Nothing is forcing players to take the penalty immediately,

And I think it should force the player to take as soon as they make the dc, what is the point otherwise. I cant think of any other game that does this just delays the pently indefinitely

That is to remind you to not DC and play the current match out THEN quit the game

And for the casual players who may of taken weeks away from the game only to be hit with a penalty may not even remember dcing and not understand why it is their, there is not indication why it is their like "You are penalized because you dced on 24/12/2025 and now must serve your sentence"

The only thing it is punishing is people who are doing the correct thing if game is frustrating you and stop playing it, rather then trying to ready up again to play more and does nothing to actually address people who do ruin matches. these are not people who are taking days away they play all the time so clicking ready does nothing to address people to constantly ruin matches.

Edit : just wanting to add not having to click ready would punish people even more if they continue to dc after coming back. DCs are based on matches played so if someone dcs again after coming back they will be hit with even bigger timeouts rather then being reminded when they come back like "hey you have a penalty be careful"

May not remember what they done to get the penalty.

Ok, BHVR should add a big flashy banner saying why they are looking at a penalty timer. Solved.

  • Counterproductive to circumventing the penalty.

There are players that will DC their last game and continue the next day like they didn't just ruin a match for four other people. Nothing is forcing players to take the penalty immediately, you can drop the game for awhile and come back, but you will need to wait before starting a new match when you do. That is to remind you to not DC and play the current match out THEN quit the game.

  • If you've been around enough, "I'm a P100" was the same as "I'm a P3". At least back then you had to start over from 0 but only if you actually played that character. Now it just means you put all you bp into one character. The only skill that it proves is they found out how to make a lot of bp.

So yeah, it's stupid. Just like saying I'm Grade 1 on both sides.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 199
